Sample Answer 1

Here is the sample answer for the “describe/talk about your best friend” topic for IELTS Speaking Part 2.

Who is he/she and what does he/she do? When and how did you two meet?

I would like to talk about my best friend, Hriday. He is a professional photographer. It has been almost five years since we have known each other. Talking about how we met, it was all through social media. He was my friend’s friend on Facebook. I had spoken to him a few times in the comments section, and then he sent me a friend request. Upon the very first conversation, I clicked with him like never before.

What kind of personality he/she has?

Since the beginning, Hriday has been quite outspoken with me. Although he has a shy and reserved personality, with me, he spoke his heart out. At first, I was a bit skeptical of talking like this with a stranger. However, he made me feel comfortable in no time and soon we became close friends. He is an amiable person.

Living in the same city, we have met several times. Right from reading novels to going on bike rides, there are plenty of things we have done together. One of the best things about him is the positive attitude he carries. He listens to me patiently. I have the utmost confidence in him. Whenever I have an issue, the first person I want to talk to is Hriday. And, very calmly, he listens to me and then helps me think and act rationally.

I just hope we stay friends for years to come.

Here are some vocabulary for the topic “Describe/talk about your best friend” with examples:

  • Outspoken: [Adjective] Frank and candid in expressing one’s opinions.

  • Skeptical: [Adjective] Having doubts or reservations about something.

Eg.: At first, I was skeptical about becoming friends with someone I met online.

  • Amiable: [Adjective] Friendly and pleasant in manner.

Eg.: Hriday is such an amiable person that it’s easy to get along with him.

  • Utmost: [Adjective] The greatest or highest degree of something.

Eg.: I have the utmost trust in Hriday; he’s always there when I need him.

  • Rationally: [Adverb] In a way that is based on reason or logic.

Eg.: Hriday helps me think and act rationally when I’m faced with difficult decisions.

  • Confidence: [Noun] The feeling of self-assurance arising from one’s abilities or qualities.

Eg.: My friendship with Hriday has given me the confidence to face life’s challenges.

Sample Answer 2

Click on the audio to listen to the sample answer below. Pay attention to the intonation and pronunciation of the words.

When and how you met?

I would like to describe my best friend, Huong, whom I have known for roughly 10 years. I first met her at primary school when she was my classmate.

At first, she was quite shy and did not want to talk with anyone, which made me feel that she was a bit proud. However, when we became close friends, she was more sociable and amiable. We have done a lot of things together. Studying at the same schools, we have various mutual friends. So, we usually throw parties at the weekends or have a picnic together.

Besides, whenever I get into trouble, I turn to her for help. For example, I remember when I got bad marks in the mock university entrance exam, she consoled me and then we studied together until the official exam took place. Finally, we had the opportunity to study at our favorite college.

At present, despite the fact that we have different plans and goals to pursue, I believe that we will be best friends for good and we will try our best to maintain this relationship.

Vocabulary encompasses words and phrases, and it plays a pivotal role in effective communication. In IELTS Speaking, a rich vocabulary is crucial as it enables candidates to convey ideas precisely, demonstrate fluency, and enhance their overall language proficiency, all of which are essential for achieving a higher band score.

  • Roughly: [adverb] approximately, but not exactly. Eg: In the exam, I wrote roughly 300 words for my essay.
  • Close friends: [expression] friends who know each other very well and like each other a lot. Eg: Close friends usually share the same interests and have no secrets from each other.
  • Amiable: [adjective] pleasant and easy to like Eg : Our form teacher is very amiable and we all enjoy the relaxed atmosphere in her classes.
  • Mutual friends: [expression] friends which are shared by two or more people. Eg: Although we had not met before, when we started chatting, we discovered that we had some mutual friends.
  • Throw parties: [expression] give parties. Eg: Some Hollywood film stars throw parties that hundreds of people attend.
  • Consoled: [verb] gave sympathy to someone who is unhappy. Eg: After the team lost the match, the coach consoled the players and told them that they had played well.
  • For good: [expression] permanently Eg: I decided to leave New York for good and move to Europe.
  • Try our best : do as much as possible to achieve something Eg: Although we tried our best, we failed the exam.

The IELTS Cue Card segments usually require a thoughtful approach from the candidate. By incorporating personal anecdotes, vivid details, and a genuine connection to your topic, you can impress examiners and leave a lasting impression.

Remember to practice these sample answers, adapt them to your unique experiences, and confidently express your appreciation for your best friend in the IELTS speaking test.

All the best!

IELTS Speaking: Best Friend

Posted by David S. Wills | Jan 10, 2022 | IELTS Tips , Speaking | 0

IELTS Speaking: Best Friend

In IELTS speaking, we are often asked to talk about the topic of friendship because it is common to all people in all cultures. It is something that everyone can say something about, so we often encounter it in this part of the exam.

Today, I am going to show you how to talk about a best friend . I’ll give you some advice on vocabulary, grammar, and some tips about how to answer questions effectively.

Best Friend for IELTS Speaking

When it comes to the issue of friendship, this could arise in any part of the IELTS speaking test. In part one, you might be asked an easy and general question like:

How often do you see your friends?

In part two, you could be given a cue card that says something like:

Describe your best friend.

In part three, the question would be a little more complicated, requiring more consideration in order to answer it fully:

Is it better to have friends that always agree with you or should people look for friends with different opinions?

As you can see, these require quite different types of answer. We’ll look at sample answers later on, but first let’s explore some useful vocabulary.

Best Friend Vocabulary

As always, when it comes to IELTS it is important to use vocabulary accurately and that means don’t just find ridiculously obscure words from the dictionary. Use words that are appropriate to the topic and to your chosen answer.

If you look up “best friend” in a thesaurus , for example, you might find expressions like “soul mate” that do not actually have the same meaning. The phrase “bosom buddy” is also a little weird and outdated, too.

ielts best friend synonyms

Instead, choose language that is relevant, important, and modern. Since this is the speaking test, you can be a little informal. People often say “besties” or “BFFs” now. I have a whole article on vocabulary about friendship vocabulary here .

Remember that you need to be able to talk about the nature of friendship and why people became best friends. You might want to use some of these expressions:

Grammar about Friendship

People always seem to love learning vocabulary, but actually it is incredibly important to learn about grammar, too. If you don’t get the grammar right, the vocabulary won’t necessarily make sense.

When it comes to friendship, grammar can actually be very important because it is necessary to understand when something happened. Let’s take a few examples of different tenses to show how significant the change in meaning can be:

Of course, it is not just the statement of friendship that you need to think about when talking about a best friend. You could talk about many things, such as first meeting that person, doing things together, going through life experiences, describing their personality, and so on. All of this requires careful consideration of verb tense.

Here’s an example paragraph. Note the verb tenses used:

I first met Suzie in 1998, when we were both about twelve years old. We immediately got along well with one another and started hanging out. Of course, it’s tough being that age and so it really helped to have such a close friend as we went through those awkward teenage years together. Later, we went to different unis and then got jobs in different cities, so we weren’t so close, but we still chatted on the phone and over the internet, and we meet up regularly even now. I’d still call her my best friend even though we don’t see each other that much and I expect she will be my bestie even twenty years from now.

Note the range of verb tenses here. In the beginning, it was mostly past simple (I first met; we were both, etc) but later it switched to the present simple (we meet up; we don’t see, etc). I have even managed to incorporate the future by saying “I expect she will be…”

Sample Answers

Let’s look at some possible answers to the questions I posed above.

I guess I see them about three times a week on average. We play football once a week and have beers together maybe twice a week. Of course, it depends on things like work and family. At this age, you don’t see people as much as you’d want, but generally I’m pretty lucky.

I have answered this cue card here and you can find a video recording of it below:

Well, it is certainly more tempting to have friends that always agree with you because then you’re unlikely to fall out with them over silly arguments. However, I do think it’s important to be friends with people that challenge your preconceptions and offer the possibility of personal growth. Even if someone is just willing to play devil’s advocate , it’s quite good to be able to have those in-depth conversations that encourage debate and allow us to learn something new. So I don’t know which is better, exactly, but probably the latter of the two options.

Note that answers for part three should be more developed than those for part one. You don’t need to talk for ages, but you should explain yourself thoroughly.

Final Thoughts

When it comes to the IELTS topic of best friends, you really should be prepared to discuss yours and even to talk about the topic in general. This doesn’t require any particularly difficult or technical vocabulary, but you should have some topic-specific words and phrases and you should be familiar with English verb tenses so that you can give good answers. I would strongly recommend that you practise describing some of your friends in advance so that you are familiar with the sort of specific language needed to talk about those particular people. You’ll soon find that each person requires different vocabulary because of their different personalities and lifestyles.

Speaking is an art that demands attention and goes beyond simply showcasing one's vocabulary. The cue card section of the IELTS speaking test gives you the opportunity to showcase your language proficiency and deeply express yourself.

This blog is to help readers understand how to respond to the popular IELTS speaking cue card question, "Describe your best friend." This topic's selection highlights the value of individual ideas and perspectives while enabling test-takers to showcase their language skills.

Introduction

I think this is a perfect chance for me to discuss my friendship with "Atharv," one of my closest buddies. I really appreciate you for giving me this chance to tell you about my friend Atharv.

How did you meet?/ How long have you two known each other?

He and I met in school. I still remember we shared meals, played football in the evenings on the neighbourhood playground, stood shoulder to shoulder in times of problems , attended the same school, and assisted one another with homework and studies. We always found solace in one another. I first saw him in the school cafeteria one day while eating lunch. It has been over ten years since we became pals.

How do you spend time together?

Atharv and I enjoy discussing our private matters; he is the only one with whom I can disclose anything. We frequently visit new areas, play cricket, see films, discuss politics, and exchange ideas about our future careers. He occasionally advises me on handling problems and stress, and he frequently tells me that “every cloud has a silver lining, buddy.”

And explain why you like this person.

The closest friends never separate and grow closer with time. Atharv has already demonstrated his willingness to stand by me no matter what and to get me out of any sticky circumstance. Someone can only have a friend like him once or twice in their lifetime. He has unquestionably had an enormous impact on my life and will always be my best buddy. And for that reason alone, I think highly of him and value our connection.

He has indisputably impacted my life and will always be my closest buddy. I appreciate his friendship, and I admire him because of this.

Also Read: Is passing the IELTS reading test too tough?

Even though a person may have many friends at different phases of their life, not all of them are the best friends. The closest buddy ought to have a particular set of qualities. Here, I will discuss Mishka, a very dear friend of mine. She is among the most straightforward and sweetest individuals I have ever met.

How did you meet?

Our friendship dates back nearly ten years. When I was eleven years old, my father relocated to Jaipur, where I currently live. He relocated to this city in order to switch his company. I got to know the lovely local people after enrolling in the nearby school. I eventually discovered that, despite some invisible obstacles separating us, my thoughts and Mishka’s thoughts were quite similar. I learned that she and her family have relocated to this city recently. Since not many people were known and talked to in the neighbourhood, Mishka and I ended up being together.

How long have you two known each other?

It was ten years ago when we first met. Although we had several arguments throughout the years where we felt like our friendship would break, they were always resolved peacefully. One thing that made our bond strong was good communication. We only believe in communicating our issues whenever we have any.

We collaborate on a wide range of subjects. We assist one another in our academic efforts, share our thoughts, and take notes before, during, and after academic tests because we are in the same grade. We go out on our bicycles during the evening time or on holidays. Furthermore, we both love going to the movies in theatres. Apart from this, we are fond of movies, so whenever we see an advertisement for a new film, we plan to watch that movie in our nearby theatre.

And explain why you like this person?

She came forward to help me when I had problems and felt alone at school. We didn't get along primarily because of our different cultures, even though the local kids had first welcomed me because I was from another state. Then Mishka reached out to assist and stayed at my side. She is meticulous about several things, and as a direct result of her influence, I have been performing well on my tests.

She is more adept at discerning right from wrong. She stops me before I do anything needless. I'm lucky to have her as my best friend.

These additional questions go along with "Describe your best friend." You get about four to five minutes to explain questions from your cue card or questions pertaining to general topics throughout this exam segment.

Question: What do you think are the most important qualities for friends to have?

Answer: It is legitimate to suggest that friends can be anything other than "friends" until they are fully "wrapped up" with essential attributes like affection, mutual admiration, honesty, loyalty, and reliability. Friends are like extraordinary "gifts" to individuals. Because of this, another essential quality of friends is their readiness to stand by the people they see as friends during good times and bad.

Question: Which are more important to people, their family or friends? Why?

Answer: Family members are and always should be more important to people since they have "blood relationships" that cannot be refuted or destroyed by any authority in this world. Additionally, when we are in danger or need of something, our relatives usually come to our help first. Consequently, family members often have a greater understanding of the "needs" of those they consider to be "family" than do their friends. However, certain friends become part of our family only.

Question: What do you think causes friendships to break up?

Answer: Friendships can cease or fade for a variety of common causes, such as distance, shifting circumstances, and a lack of communication. The lack of mutual respect and trust may be more important, as without them, it would be extremely difficult to build and preserve a good connection between the parties. Friendships can occasionally end due to backbiting, arrogance, and backstabbing for little reward.

Let us solve one cue card that was recently asked to a candidate in the IELTS speaking exam. IELTS Speaking Cue Card  Talk about your best friend. Please say

  • Who is he/she?
  • When did you both meet for the first time?
  • What do you usually do together?

Explain why you consider her as your best friend Sample Answer:

I want to talk about Rima Shetty who has been my best friend since school days. She is currently working as software developer  for an IT company based in Panipat . It was in 2002 when I met with her in class 11 . She had just enrolled in the school for non-medical stream and used to sit along with me in the class. It just happened that on her first day in the school, she couldn’t get an empty seat while I was sitting alone since my friend was absent on that day. I asked her to sit along with me and introduced myself. From then onwards , we became friends and our friendship is continued till today.

Whenever we get some free time, we meet each other on a coffee shop and sit over there for hours, gossiping about our day-to-day life. In the weekend, we often plan to watch movies together in the nearby Multiplex cinema.

I call her my best friend since she helps me a lot in my difficult times. Whenever I needed support, she was always there for boosting me up. She is extremely honest towards our friendship and a trustworthy person as well. This is the reason why I consider her as my best friend. Useful Tips: You can say about the main points by including factual information such as best friend’s name (Rima Shetty), her profile (software developer), her workplace (Panipat), when it started (2002, in class 11)

Band-9 Samples: Tell me about your best friend at school

This post contains ideas and band-9 sample answers (audio included) for the  Cambridge IELTS 11 Academic Speaking Part 1 Question 2 Test 2  question:

“Tell me about your best friend at school.”

Sample 1: Having A Best Friend

I am truly fortunate to have a friend at school who has an exceptional sense of empathy. She has an uncanny ability to sense when I’m feeling down and always knows what to say to lift my spirits. Her capacity for understanding and compassion has helped me through some challenging times, making her an indispensable part of my life at school.

Sample 2: Having A Best Friend

My closest companion from my schooling years is a real intellectual. She’s the type of individual who constantly has her nose buried in a book, always eager to quench her thirst for knowledge. Our friendship was largely built on our shared love for learning. We’d spend hours discussing the most recent book we’d read or debating different theories. Her knack for absorbing knowledge and her curiosity truly sets her apart.

Sample 3: Having A Best Friend

One of my companions from my school days was quite a tech enthusiast. He had an incredible understanding of computers and was always the go-to person whenever someone faced an issue with their systems. Our friendship was cemented by countless instances of him helping me troubleshoot my computer problems. His technical acumen was truly admirable, and it was through our interactions that I developed a keen interest in technology as well.

Sample 4: Having A Best Friend

Back in my school days, my closest confidant was an individual of exceptional intelligence. She had a knack for understanding complex concepts and a patience that matched her intellect. Despite my struggles with keeping up academically, she never hesitated to explain things to me, no matter how long it took. Our friendship was a blend of her tutoring me through difficult subjects and me admiring her unwavering patience and intelligence.

Sample 5: Having A Best Friend

During my school years, I had the good fortune of befriending a dedicated football enthusiast. He was an exceptional player, and our friendship blossomed through countless practices and matches. Despite the competitive nature of the game, our bond strengthened, especially when we played together on the school team. His skill on the field was undeniable, but it was the shared joy of the game that truly cemented our friendship.

Sample 6: Having A Best Friend

One of my most cherished friendships at school was with an introverted individual, much like myself. We found comfort in our shared solitude, often spending time in quiet corners of the school, engrossed in our own thoughts. Our friendship was based on mutual understanding, respect for each other’s quiet nature, and shared experiences of navigating through a world that often misunderstood our introversion.

Sample 7: Having A Best Friend

One of my most cherished friendships from my school days was with a friend who lived right next door. Our friendship was marked by the convenience of living so close to each other. We shared countless walks to school, study sessions at each other’s houses, and many spontaneous adventures around our neighborhood. The geographical proximity turned into emotional closeness, making our bond truly special.

Sample 8: Having Closed Friends

In school, I had the privilege of being part of a diverse circle of friends. Each one, with their unique interests and strengths, brought something different to the table. Our shared experiences ranged from academic challenges and sporting triumphs to artistic collaborations and tech innovations. These friendships were not only a source of joy and support but also provided a dynamic environment that fostered personal growth and learning.

Sample 9: Not Having Closed Friends

In my case, it’s slightly different. I moved around a lot during my school years due to my parents’ jobs. So, I found it challenging to maintain strong, lasting friendships. Each school I went to, I made friends, but then we had to part ways. It was bittersweet, but it did teach me to be adaptable and resilient. So, I wouldn’t say I had a best friend, but a series of brief yet meaningful friendships.

Sample 10: Not Having Closed Friends

At school, I was often misunderstood due to my introverted personality. People tended to mistake my quiet demeanor for aloofness, which made it hard for me to form close bonds. It seemed as though no one really liked me enough to become my best friend. While this was a challenging experience, it also taught me a lot about empathy and the importance of not judging a book by its cover.

IELTS Speaking Part 2 – Topic: Describe a Good Friend

ielts speaking part 2 2020

IELTS Speaking Part 2

Describe a good friend. You should say: • When and how you met   • What kind of personality he/she has • What makes you like him/her

I would like to describe my best friend , Huong, whom I have known for roughly 10 years . I first met her at primary school when she was my classmate. At first , she was quite shy and did not want to talk with anyone, which made me feel that she was a bit proud . However , when we became close friends , she was more sociable and amiable.

We have done a lot of things together. Studying at the same schools , we have various  mutual friends . So, we usually throw parties at the weekends or have a picnic together.  Besides , whenever I get into trouble, I turn to her for help. For example, I remember when I got bad marks in the mock university entrance exam, she consoled me and then we studied  together until the official exam took place. Finally , we had the opportunity to study at our favorite college.

At present , despite the fact that we have different plans and goals to pursue, I believe that we will be best friends for good and we will try our best to maintain this relationship.

Vocabulary:

– roughly: [adverb] approximately, but not exactly. Example: In the exam, I wrote roughly 300 words for my essay.

– close friends: [expression] friends who know each other very well and like each other a lot. Example: Close friends usually share the same interests and have no secrets from each other.

– mutual friends: [expression] friends which are shared by two or more people. Example: Although we had not met before, when we started chatting, we discovered that we had some mutual friends.

– throw parties: [expression] give parties. Example: Some Hollywood film stars throw parties which hundreds of people attend.

– for good: [expression] permanently Example: I decided to leave New York for good and move to Europe.

– try our best : do as much as possible to achieve something Example: Although we tried our best , we failed the exam.

A best friend is a special and unforgettable person in our lives and will stay longer than other common friends. We share most of the things, conversations, and important talks and support them anytime in our lives.

In this topic, we are discussing the best friend and the memories that we all spent with our friends and best friends.

We have covered an essay pattern in various paragraphs of around 100 words, 200 words, 300 words, and 500 words, respectively, that helps many of the children or students of class 2 to 12th to understand the short and descriptive essay pattern of the best friend.

Table of Contents

My Best Friend Essay 100 Words

I always thank God that he sent Rahul into my life as my best friend, and I also wish that everyone has a friend like Rahul. Rahul and I met on the first day of school after the summer vacation when we were studying in the 5th standard.

I also remember an incident when our class teacher asked him about his previous school and the place from where he came. He is a good speaker, and he gave an interesting answer to everyone in his introduction in class.

He is good at studies and also a good athlete. He loves running and singing too, and his handwriting is also very neat and clean. I feel happy to become his friend, and he also loves my company, and we spend most of our time together.

My Best Friend Essay 200 Words

I have had a lot of friends since childhood, but Raghav is one of the kindest and most trustworthy friends for me. I must say that Rohan has been my best friend since childhood. He is a very good person and a true friend because he has a good manner that he never lies to anyone, and hates people who lie to him. He is a kind boy and also a sincere student. We both live in the same building, and our apartments are also in front of each other.

My parents also met my friend in the school at the parents-teachers meeting, and they also like Raghav and his sincerity. We both have been in the same class from the 3rd standard until now. We are in the 10th standard now, and we both help each other in the preparation for Board exams, which will be held in the month of March.

He always invites me to his house to play video games with him. Every Sunday, we both enjoy playing video games with popcorn and juice together. Sometimes, our school teachers also wonder about our true friendship and the strong bond between us. He has a set of badminton rackets and a shuttle, and we also play together in the evening near our building. We both love each other’s company.

My Best Friend Essay 300 Words

Everyone has at least a single friend who is more than just a friend to them. Getting a friend is common, but getting a true friend is very rare and a bit special. It is like a big achievement for people to get a trustworthy and lifelong best friend. I also had a best friend in my life too since childhood. His name is Ganaraj, and his mother is Telugu. We are neighbors too and also classmates. We always sit together in school and also spend most of the time together.

He is a very talented person and always supports me in my studies. We both like mathematics, and also we love to solve maths numerical problems. I like to play games, and we both always play games together and participate in the sports that are held in school. Our favorite sport is Cricket, and we both are good all-rounders on our school cricket team. Our class teacher always suggests and supports us to play cricket even better and also helps in education to achieve success in life.

He is very valuable to me, and I always value his friendship as I value my parents. He is like my family, as a brother from another mother. Whenever I need his help and support, my best friend is there for me to hold me. We both live in the precious moment and create memories that will stay with me forever. Our friendship is a kind of beautiful relationship, and I hope any kind will never break these mistakes. Every Sunday, we go together to a playground near our locality, and we spend most of our time there. My parents also like Ganaraj to be my friend. Everyone is happy with our friendship and has a strong bond that never goes down in any situation.

My Best Friend Essay 500 Words

My best friend’s name is Siddhart Jadhav. We have been friends since class 7th A in Alfred Nobel High School. We both studied in the same school in childhood but not in the same class as our sections are different. Later that time, all the students from all the sections are sorted according to the previous academics’ percentages and grades and separated into four different sections. Due to this separation, I met Siddhart in the 7th A, and we became friends at that time. Later, time goes by, and our friendship bond becomes stronger, and we become best friends with each other and spend most of our time together in school, tuition, and extra classes. We also sit on the same bench in the classroom.

Our likes and dislikes are also common, and we also love to dance and sing. In every annual gathering and other function that is held in our school, we both participate and give our best performances. We never wanted to win the competitions, our intention was to enjoy the gathering. Some of our school teachers don’t like our togetherness and friendship, but some of them loved and always blessed our strong bonded friendship to stay longer and longer. Siddharth and I always talked in the running classroom, and most of the time, our teacher also punished both of us by standing outside the classroom. We always tried to irritate the lecturer in the chemistry lectures by asking tons of doubts and questions. We eat tiffin boxes sitting on the last benches.

Apart from this naughtiness, Siddharth is very punctual, and he is never late for coming to school and attending classes. He always completes his homework at a given time and being with him, I also start studying very well and completing my homework on time. He keeps his books and copies very clean. His writing is very nice and encourages me to write cleanly and clearly for better understanding. My parents also compliment my friend that being with him, I also become responsible and a good student.

Siddharth and I are both excellent football players and athletes. When we both start playing the football game, the opponent team never wins. Our sports teacher always motivates us and tells us that we will become good football players one day. My parents also know Siddharth very much, and they like his pleasant behavior. Feel free when Siddharth and I stay together, whether for playing games, video games, study, or for going out to have fun with other classmates. Siddharth is my best friend, my first friend. He is the one who offers me help in my studies when I need it, supports me and always shows love to me, defends me, and stands by my side in any situation no matter what.

In academics, my best friend, Siddharth, is chosen to be awarded the best student of the year in the 10th class. He is one of the brilliant students of our school and also won many of the competitions that were held in school. He is like a well-wisher, and I always enjoyed his company. He, too, feels secure and relieved by spending time with me as well. He is like a problem-solving friend to me. I never wanted to lose him in my life.

IELTS Speaking test: Friends

IELTS Speaking test usually has questions about friends. Many students find it difficult to answer these questions easily. Yet, a few may not be able to answer a few tough ones. Here are some sample questions and answers on the same topic.

IELTS Speaking Part 1

Let’s talk about your friends.

Do you have a lot of friends?

Yes. Since I am a social person, I made a lot of friends throughout my school and college years. Both sets of friends ended up gelling well with each other, so we all accumulated into one big friends’ group.

Who is your best friend, and why?

My best friend is Michelle. She and I met in college. We were supposed to do an assignment together on the behaviours of animals, and since we share a love for the same, we ended up becoming friends.

Who would you most like to be friends with and why? Or What kind of person can you make friends with easily?

I would like to be friends with a person who is kind to people. The person, as mentioned earlier, should also love animals and should help those who need help and ask for it. Lastly, it would be great if the person should also be able to have thoughtful debates over philosophical topics.

Which is more important to you, friends or family?

I would say both. From family, I learnt basic moral values and basic how to’s like how to make tough decisions. From friends, I learnt empathy and other social skills. So, I would say that both my friends and my family are important to me.

IELTS Speaking Part 2

Cue card 1 on friends who influenced you, describe a friend who has played an essential part in your life..

You should say:

  • How you met this person
  • How long you have known him or her
  • The kind of things you do or have done together
  • And explain why this person has been crucial in your life.

I met one of my dearest friends in college who later had an impact on my life. We met while I was talking to another batchmate about technology. He overheard us talking and offered better insight into the topic. Ever since then, we have been friends.

We have known each other for over five years now. We play games a lot and love to play online multiplayer because it is much more fun playing together. We love to play GTA V online as well as other games. We also enjoy eating and rating different types of chocolate and going around the city, tasting different kinds of food from fancy restaurants.

I feel that this person has been influential in my life because he helped me through the time where my grandmother died. Those were some really dark time as my grandmother was loved by all and everybody had a hard time going through the loss. He was one of the few who helped my family as well as my focus on the primary purpose of life.

Cue Card 2 on Friends in school

Describe a friend you had in primary school..

  • What that person was like
  • How long you were friends for
  • What things you did together
  • And say `whether you are still in contact with that person or not, and why

Answer My friend in primary school was my first friend ever. We met while our teacher sat us down as partners and asked us to draw something for a competition that they were having. While we didn’t get any prizes and performed mediocrely, we became fast friends.

We were friends for at least three years. After those three years, we grew separate. This is because he moved to Australia, and I switched schools as the homework that we used to receive at school became too much to handle for a child of that age. He moved to Australia because his parents found better job opportunities.

Besides doing homework together, we also used to sneak outside our societies for street food that our families considered unhygienic. We also used to play with each other pretty much all the time. Sadly, I have lost contact with him because of the physical distance and because we lost touch with each other. However, he did contact me through Facebook a while ago to ask help for an article, and we have started communicating again in a professional capacity.

IELTS Speaking Part 3

What is the importance of friends.

I feel that friends are important because they give you an alternative worldview as they grew up in a place that is different from us and therefore have a different upbringing. They also help you through personal matters that you cannot bring up with your family, like relationship advice. They also are there to help you go through other issues. They also help you have fun.

Would you like to have a few very good friends or a lot of just friends?

I would rather have a few excellent friends rather than a lot of friends. This is because I have seen larger friend groups disintegrate into smaller friend groups. My friend group went through this. From experience, I think that the smaller the friend group, the closer the friends are.

If you had a problem, would you go to your friends or family? Why?

I would go to my friends as they have a diversity of experience that can help me in almost any problems. Furthermore, the family sometimes tends to be a bit dismissive of issues and sometimes even tell their children to handle it themselves. For example, I once faced a problem with the exam department at my college. I went to my parents for help, but they asked me to solve the problem myself. I then went to my friends, who helped me connect with the person who could solve the issue.

Do you think it is always better to talk to your friends about problems?

Honestly, it depends on what the problem is. If I feel that my family can give me better advice on the matter, I will approach them. However, if I think that my friends have a better grasp of the problem, I will not hesitate to approach them for advice or a solution to that problem either.

Is it essential to have friends from other countries?

I believe so. They bring diversity to one’s friend group. They also get their own culture and well as their views to the group. You can also learn somethings from them that might not be possible where you live. It could be anything from tying shoelaces to time management.

Who is your best friend?

I have many friends, but my best friend is Gautam Patel. We have been friends since childhood. We understand each other in many ways. He always has my back I have his. We share plenty of common habits like waking up early in the morning or watching Hollywood movies.

But more importantly we have common mindset and views.

Every day when we both are free from work, we meet at our decided place and have tea in the evening. We also go to the nearby places in my hometown every month end. At least once in a year we plan tour outside my hometown.

A I told you we have same habit. The most common habit we share is we both are the ultimate lover of tea.so when we go out, we chat with having tea.

Occasionally we go to watch movies in theatre. Sometimes we play cricket and other games.

There is a saying that friend is in need is friend indeed. So, I consider a friend a real friend when he was there when the need arises. I expect it from my friend, and I am also ready to support and help my friends when they are in trouble. He should be Sincere and friendly.

A good sense of humor is an additional quality a friend should have.

Friends and family both are important part of our lives. There cannot be any comparison between these two. Family’s importance can never be fathomed because it is the primary source of unconditional love and care. But on the other hand, friends also bring happiness to the person’s life. We can share many thoughts and to our friends which we cannot share to family.

Both friends and family are the essential part of our life.

Certainly , age is a significant factor. Most of the friendships are seen in the people from the same age.  If friends are of same age, they can have more things in common.

But that does not mean that people from different age cannot be friends. There may be some limitations but people from different age can be great friends.

My Best Friend Essay – 500+ Words for Class 11,12 Students

Introduction of my best friend essay.

Not everyone is blessed enough to have a best friend in life . The journey of life is filled with many people, but only a few leave an impression on us. And my best friend is the only one who leaves a deep impression on my life. For the longest time, we’ve been part of each other’s lives, and our friendship continues to grow.

Revealing Some Facts

Now, I’m revealing the most interesting fact about my best friend. The truth is my best friend is not only my friend but also my real brother. Yes, you read it right, my twin brother is my best friend. From our birth to this age, we’re always been together. Our mother gives us birth with a difference of 2 minutes. So according to this, my best friend is older than me.

Bond With My Best Friend

One of the greatest blessings of my life was growing up with a twin brother. It’s not only that I’ve someone who exactly looks like me, but also my best friend. My twin brother and I have a bond of unconditional love. From the day we’re born, our understanding is very good for each other.

Since my twin brother is my best friend, we’re together by birth. Our bond has been so real and strong since childhood. We always did things together, from sleeping too recently in college. We have the same interests and vision regarding anything.

Our Interest In Sports

As we’ve common interests regarding anything. But in sports we don’t have common interests, I like cricket, and he likes football. So the only time we’re not together is when we’re practising on the grounds. My best friend goes to the football academy and I go to the cricket academy.

Although, I’ve no interest in football when my best friend plays the match. I go to watch his match and support him as an audience. Likewise, my best friend comes to support my cricket match. But skillswise, he’s a great football player. And he’s very famous in the town for his next-level football skills.

Our Purpose In Life

As everyone has a purpose in life regarding his/her career. Our purpose and plan of life are to become doctors and want to serve humanity and our country. Because we want to help the people who live in privileged areas of our country.

The reason to help these people is, in today’s modern world where we’ve many modern treatments for diseases. But in backward areas of our country, people are dying of many minor diseases, because there are very few doctors to treat them. We think this is the best way to serve humanity and our country as well.

Conclusion of My Best Friend Essay

In conclusion, I want to say that I’m too lucky to experience the joy of a twin brother as a best friend. Having a best friend is a blessing, but having a twin brother as a best friend is the greatest blessing. There is nothing more special than the relationship I have with my twin brother.

Long Essay on My Best Friend – 1000+ Words for Competitive Exams Students With Headings

Long Essay on My Best Friend

Friendship is a relationship in this relationship two persons share common interests and experiences in life. This relationship is purely based on trust, loyalty, and mutual understanding. It’s not necessary to have this relationship in childhood only.

Friendship can be formed at any stage of life and to make this relationship long-lasting, efforts require from both sides. Efforts in terms of sacrifice, care, blind trust, and many more. A person has many friends in his life like his childhood friend, school friends, college friends, and so on.

But a best friend is the only friend in his life, who stays with him in all stages of his life. A best friend is the one you call anytime and share your feelings with to feel better. A best friend is like a leader, mentor, and teacher. Friendship is a relationship of mutual understanding.

My Mother is My Best Friend

Many people have best friends in the face of their wives, friends, brothers, etc. But fewer people have a best friend in their mother. My mother is my best friend and the greatest blessing of my life. She is the only one who knows best about me.

I can also say that my mother knows more about me, even myself. She is always with me in all my ups and downs and motivates me to achieve my goals. Although we’re five siblings, I’m the elder one, and very close to my mother’s heart.

Our Understanding and Bonding

Undoubtedly, I can say that my mother is my best friend and role model in my life. She’s always standing behind me like a rock and supports me in all my thicks and thins. My mother is the supreme person in my life, every other relation of my life comes after my mother.

In other words my best friend, my first love, my support system, and peace of mind. In short, I can’t write in words how much I love my mother. From the day I was born, my mother cared for me, she raised me from an infant to adulthood. I can’t thank her for her deeds.

Hardworking and Dedication of My Best Friend

My mother is a very hardworking and kind lady. She worked hard to raise her children, and teach them to the best of her knowledge. She sacrificed almost everything for me, like her body and time to bring me. As a best friend, she shares all of her thoughts with me.

As a best friend, I share all my feelings and secrets with her. She listens to me with all of her attention and guides me with the best based on her experience. She is like an all-in-one for me, from a mother to a leader. She has done everything for me, and still, she is doing it for me.

My Best Friend’s Role in My Life

My best friend is multi-talented, as she has many qualities. She is the one who encourages me to take a stand for myself. Because if you can’t even stand for yourself, you can’t take it for anyone. Her encouragement gives me so much power that now I’m able to fight against bullies.

She taught me to love everyone, not only humans but also animals. I remember when we were passing through a road and a cat was hitten by a car. My best friend said to me that, we’ve to help this injured cat. So we rescued her and took her to an animal hospital for her treatment.

My Career Path

My best friend also helps me in choosing my career path. When I share my feelings about the career of my life, she listens to me carefully and suggests multiple career paths. Her suggestions are purely based on her experiences and knowledge.

So we mutually decided that I will become a soldier to serve my homeland. The reason to become a soldier is to protect our country from our enemies. She is also very brave, as she knows borders are very dangerous and ready to send me to the borders of the country.

Our Same Interests

Although my best friend and I have a major age difference, but we’ve many similar interests. Like we both love to watch horror movies, especially at night. Usually, our weekends are spent watching movies late at night. I can’t even feel that I’ve another best friend.

Many things we’re doing together, but I never cross my line in terms of respect. We always give personal space to each other and respect each other’s privacy. Thus, we’re best friends with mutual understanding.

My Companion in Hard Times

As I tell you, my mother is my best friend. She’s always there to correct me and make sure to save me from any kind of trouble. She’s like a saviour in every hard time of my life. I remember when I failed class 5 and I came home with a sad face. So my mother motivates me and strengthens me in those bad times.

She also taught me how to respect a woman and comfort her with my presence. It’s not wrong if I say, my mother is not only my best friend, but a mentor, companion, leader, and so on. She always has an eye on my activities to make sure that I don’t do anything wrong.

No doubt, the mother is a great blessing in our lives. But when she becomes your best friend is an enormous blessing in one’s life. I’m so impressed with her qualities like her kindness, loyalty, and so on. I can also say that my mother is the best mom in the world.

Not only the best mom but a best friend, a leader, a lover, a protector, in short all-in-one. She works for me 27/7, without rest, and often we don’t even realise this. I also want to say to my readers, please love your mother and make her your best friend too. She deserves everything because she gives her whole life to you.
