This memory serves more than just being a reminder of a great story to tell my grandchildren one day; the gift of the experience was the forging of friendships that would last a lifetime. In addition, my life’s path was made clear to me; I found a passion that had probably changed the trajectory of my life. My birthday is my favorite time of the year as it is the day set aside to celebrate my life and of course all the gifts one receives. One year my birthday was made all the more special. The events leading up to my twelfth birthday may have started out ominously, but that year was cause for a double celebration. I remember the day it happened all so clearly. The sky was crystal blue, the sunlight almost blinding. Daryl and I were returning home from the movie theater. After a sleepless night we stood in the snake long queue outside the movie theater to see Transformer. The movie had lived up to expectation and we were buoyed with excitement long after the last credit rolled. We made our way over to my house talking animatedly about our favorite parts of the movie, amusing the passersby with our antics. There was hardly any activity on the usually busy street. Reminiscing on that day brings on a surreal like quality. I heard the screeching of wheels before I saw the car careering around the corner. Out of the corner of my eye I spotted a blurred shape run across the street. My heart thundered and I felt the sharp sting of fear the split second before the dog and car made contact. The driver did not stop. Daryl and I raced over to where the dog lay bleeding, whimpering faintly; mercifully alive. Daryl looked as if he was about to lose the contents of his stomach on the sidewalk, but I just about kept it together. There was no tag on the dog and no one had come chasing after him. It was the pain in his eyes that had me spring into action so I ran over to the nearest house looking for help. She was standing at the reception counter at the animal hospital helping an elderly couple fill in some forms. Her dark hair was tied back in a ponytail allowing unrestricted view of her smile as she nodded in understanding. She seemed so poised and confident in handling trauma for her youthful age. It was probably this that had me in awe of her. She noticed the dog in my arms before she looked at me. Daryl and I had not said a word; she summed up what had happened from just a glance. I felt him lifted from my arms and then he disappeared into a restricted area. Not knowing what else to do, Daryl and I took a seat on the multi-colored plastic chairs in the waiting room. Skye, we later learned that was her name, returned to assure us that the Flynn (Daryl and I later named him) was in good hands and we were not to worry. We left the hospital with Skye promising to keep us updated. I inadvertently developed a responsibility for him. No one had come to claim him and there were no reports of a lost dog anywhere. I visited the hospital every day, checking up on Flynn. He had at first refused to eat after the surgery. It was after I had begun to sit with him, stroking his fur gently and singing nursery rhymes from my childhood that he was coaxed into eating again. I was careful in remembering to sing under my breath so that Skye would not hear me, but I got a feeling that nothing really escaped her notice. After my visits to Flynn, I’d stay longer at the hospital helping out. I’d visit some of the other patients in the hospital, helping Skye to feed them or just sit with them. While there I felt an immense sense of peace. The trauma of seeing the injured no longer overwhelmed me. Skye and I developed a strong and deep friendship over time. She taught me to believe in the strength that was in me and helped me see my natural affinity to help heal those in pain. It was a gift that was to change my life in remarkable ways. I later learned that it was Skye’s father who had taken care of Flynn. He was chief veterinarian at the hospital. He was the male and older version of Skye. Seeing both father and daughter comfort and care for distressed animals with such love inspired me to want to dedicate my life to the same cause. I knew that I wanted to be a voice for the voiceless. The other strong bond of friendship that was forged was that of me and Flynn. As no one had claimed him, he got to come home with me. No other birthday has as yet surpassed my twelfth in the gifts bestowed of friendship and love, and so it remains my unparalleled favorite memory in the annals of my life to be told often.

Our childhood memories are often some of the most cherished experiences of our lives, so if you are writing essays about childhood memories, you can start by reading our essay examples and writing prompts.

Childhood is the period in our lives when we learn about our feelings, social skills, and the world around us. When we think of our childhood, we remember the years when we learn the most basic life skills, from being able to talk to the difference between “good” and “bad.”

Many fondly look back on their childhood memories, recalling when life was much more straightforward. They remember their parents, grandparents, favorite foods, friends, and essential experiences, among many other things. It is easy to imagine the idyllic, innocent life most of us had before, especially in our challenging times.

If you want to write essays about your childhood memories, go over the essay examples, and writing prompts featured below.

1. Happy childhood memories – and an old mix-tape by Séamas O’Reilly

2. favorite childhood memory by david dziegielewski, 3. a reflection of my childhood by shivani bajaj.

“For the last few years I lived here, I was the same height as I am now, so why am I astonished at the low hang of countertops, or that I can catch my reflection in the mirror that hangs high on the wall? Sometimes peering at that tired, but devilishly handsome, man in the mirror evokes the same, bittersweet feeling of vertigo you get from visiting your old primary school, as you stand 3ft higher than you’re supposed to, like some befuddled Lemuel Gulliver.”

In his essay, O’Reilly reflects on his time visiting his father in his childhood house. He recalls his memories inside the house alongside his son’s experiences today and how they are similar. He also explains how pleasant it is to be in the house again, as it evokes warm, cozy memories of his upbringing. While much has changed about the house, every visit remains as nostalgic as ever.

You might also find these essays about camping trips helpful.

“I always smile when I remember fishing with my Father. Many years have now since passed since those Saturday morning fishing trips. Time has taught me that the bond between Father and Son is what made those memories special to me. Now when I close my eyes I can remember those days since passed with joy and with a remembrance of the love I have for my Father.”

In this short essay, Dziegielewski describes memories of fishing with his father. He recalls every detail, from the fresh smell of the lake to the sound of a fishing bobber. Most importantly, however, he remembers how his father taught him the skill of fishing. This made him love his father, even more, allowing him to look back on these memories fondly.  You can also check out these essays about development .

“Water also drives many of our decisions — from the seafood we eat to our most romantic moments, and from where we live, to the sports we enjoy, and the ways we vacation and relax. We know instinctively that being by water makes us healthier, happier, reduces stress, and brings us peace.”

Bajaj recalls a memorable experience in which she dove into a deep pool after her mother had told her not to. She remembers the feelings of curiosity and excitement she felt and how despite her nearly drowning, she remembers that time happily. Reflecting on the memory, she also explains how water has helped her become more satisfied, peaceful, and happy. Our childhood memories shape us and provide us with the basis for the rest of our lives.

4.   I Would Have Liked Childhood More Without the Pressure to Grow Up by Jane Coaston

“I felt like I was given no time for trial and error. My choices were either to make the very selective local club soccer team or never play the sport again, be a genius or give up. Because being bad at anything was the worst possible sin I could imagine committing.”

Coaston writes about a more negative aspect of her childhood: the constant pressure to “not be a kid anymore.” She recalls several things expected of her, including having exceptional grades while being athletically gifted at the same time, with “no time for trial and error.” She feels everything was expected of her, and she did not have time to discover herself by making mistakes. She wishes parents would not rush their children along and let kids be kids for a while.  Check out these essays about growing up .

“I remember calling home once when I was spending the night at a friend’s house. I was homesick and just wanted to come back home. It was near midnight, but my mom drove over and picked me up. It was in these little moments that I especially felt loved. These were moments when I really needed my mom, and she was there for me. As a mother of a one-year-old now, I treasure these moments too.”

In her essay, Castleberry recalls her childhood memories involving her mother, including ones in which her mother entertained her and her friends and picked her up from a late night at a friend’s house. She remembers the small things her mother would do for her and how she was always there when she needed her. In raising her daughter, Castleberry strives to be the same mother that her mother was for her.

Everyone has cherished memories from childhood. My favorite is the time I spent playing in the park with my friends.

The park was a magical place, full of laughter and fun. We would play games like hide-and-seek and tag.

My friends were an essential part of this memory. We loved spending time together, creating our own adventures.

250 Words Essay on Favorite Childhood Memory

Childhood, a period filled with innocence and marvelous discoveries, forms the foundation of our personality and character. The reminiscences of childhood are often the most cherished ones, filled with warmth and nostalgia. One of my favorite childhood memories is the time I spent with my grandfather, learning about the natural world and its wonders.

The Wonders of Nature

My grandfather, a passionate botanist, had a lush and diverse garden. He would often take me on tours, explaining the unique characteristics of each plant. His stories about the symbiotic relationships between plants and animals sparked a fascination within me for the interconnectedness of life.

Lessons Learned

Through these interactions, I learned about the importance of biodiversity and the role of each species in preserving ecological balance. These lessons were not just about botany; they were about respect for all life forms and the importance of coexistence. They shaped my understanding of the world and influenced my decision to study environmental science.

This memory remains etched in my mind not only for the knowledge I gained, but also for the bond I shared with my grandfather. It was a bond forged through shared curiosity and respect for nature. These childhood experiences, while seemingly simple, have profound implications on our development. They shape our interests, our values, and ultimately, our life paths. Therefore, it is essential to provide children with enriching experiences that foster growth and ignite curiosity about the world around them.

500 Words Essay on Favorite Childhood Memory

Childhood, a time of innocence and joy, is often filled with countless memories that shape our personalities and perspectives in life. Among these numerous memories, some stand out, vividly etched in our minds, bringing a smile to our faces every time we think of them. This essay explores my favorite childhood memory, a simple yet profound experience that left an indelible impression on me.

The Memory of the Old Tree

In the backyard of my childhood home stood an old, towering oak tree. This tree was my sanctuary, a place of peace and solitude. It was under this tree that I spent countless hours, lost in the world of books, and it is this memory that I hold dear.

Symbol of Strength and Growth

The old oak tree was a symbol of strength and growth for me. Its sturdy trunk and widespread branches were a testament to its resilience. It had withstood the test of time, weathering numerous storms and changing seasons. This tree taught me the importance of strength and adaptability in life. As a young child, I was fascinated by its ability to stand tall amidst adversities, inspiring me to adopt the same resilience in my life.

Imagination and Creativity

The tree was also a catalyst for my imagination and creativity. It was my spaceship, pirate ship, and castle, all at once. As I sat under its shade, I would get lost in the world of stories, letting my imagination run wild. This played a significant role in nurturing my creativity, teaching me to see beyond the obvious and explore the realms of the unknown.

Lessons in Patience and Persistence

Climbing the tree was a challenge that required patience and persistence. It was not an easy task, but the view from the top was worth the effort. The first few attempts were marked by failures, but I did not give up. The tree taught me the importance of persistence and the value of hard work. It made me realize that success is not achieved overnight but is the result of consistent efforts.

My favorite childhood memory is not a grand event or a significant milestone. It is a simple memory of spending time under an old oak tree. Yet, it is this memory that has shaped my personality and values. It taught me resilience, sparked my imagination, and instilled in me the values of persistence and hard work. As I reminisce about my childhood, the image of the old oak tree brings a sense of nostalgia and warmth, reminding me of the lessons it taught me and the joy it brought into my life. This memory serves as a reminder that sometimes, it is the simplest things in life that leave the most profound impact on us.

Structure of a Memories Essay

As of other essays, an essay on memories also has the same structure:

  • Introduction,
  • Conclusion.

Let’s briefly look at each of these sections.

The Introduction

It is the doorway to your essay. You start by establishing the context of your memories essay, which will act as a hook to your readers. A quote can do well in this case.

For example, “Cakes are special. Every birthday, every celebration ends with something sweet, a cake, and people remember. It’s all about the memories.” Buddy Valastro.

The quote above creates an interest in the reader’s mind and provokes them to poke further into the essay. An introduction ends with a thesis statement.

Example: “memories are truly add meaning to life.”

It carries the significant weight of the essay with supporting examples, facts, and even statistics. It is made up of body paragraphs directly relating to your memories essay thesis statement. The standard paragraph structure of a topic sentence, explanation, examples, and illustrations are followed.

Here is an example of a well-defined body paragraph:

“Those high school outings are my most treasured memories. I recall the moments we boarded the school bus and visit interesting places. I remember how amazing it was putting on my best shirt, set aside for that special occasion. Memories of how we would buy goodies in the mall before heading back to school still linger in my mind. That’s the best part of my school life. It never gave me a frown.”

The Conclusion

Here, you restate the thesis statement and make a summary statement of the memories discussed in the body. You can choose to also conclude with a quote such as the one below.

“Childhood is like being drunk. Everyone remembers what you did except you” Noor. H.

Reflective Essay: My Favorite Holiday Memory

I’ve had many wonderful holidays, but my favorite memory is that of a few summer weeks spent in Italy when I was about 13. My mom had to go to a clinic there for treatment (nothing severe or worrisome in any way, thankfully), and we all went together as a family and took the opportunity to have a beautiful vacation as well. Why this is my favorite holiday memory is because, besides the fact that it was the first time abroad for me, it was a vacation that has broadened my perspective, taught me a lot, and helped shape a bit of who I am today.

Although we did visit many famous places in northern Italy, we stayed mostly in a little town where some friends of my parents lived. While all the renowned attractions in the country were, indeed, marvelous, nothing immersed me in the Italian culture and nothing helped me understand the locals’ Latin spirit better than my stay in this picturesque, almost magical town that many haven’t even heard of.

At 13, I was quite a shallow girl who was interested mostly in having fun with the girls – and not much else. Thanks to the holiday spent in Italy, I also discovered my passion for music, which stayed alive in me to this day and will probably stay forever. My parents’ friends had a son, Ricardo, who was a pianist. While dad had repeatedly but unsuccessfully tried to make me study an instrument (and stick to it), when I heard Ricardo play, I instantly fell in love with music and felt a great desire to learn it. Ricardo taught me the first song I ever played on the piano, a silly, playful little tune that I still know by heart. Oh, and he was my first crush, too.

Another reason why I will never forget my holiday in Italy is the short trip we took to the Italian Alps at some point. I had never seen such majestic beauty before! The snow-covered peaks, the intimidating rocks, the fresh, harsh air – what an experience! And what I remember impressed me the most was the fact that, although this was a popular touristic area, the region was incredibly clean, still “natural”, with places that seemed to never have been touched by humans. Then, the shallow teen that I was learned what a real treasure nature is and how important it is to protect it.

Finally, there’s one peculiar memory from this vacation that stuck with me for reasons that I can’t say I grasp. It’s a pineapple & cheese sandwich that they sold at the clinic my mom went to for treatment. What a simple and ingenious mix of flavors – a sheer joy for the taste buds! I think it was the first time I tasted a mix of “regular food” and exotic fruit all in one, and I believe this is what triggered in me the pleasure I know have for experimenting with flavors in my cooking and coming up with unusual dishes. Looking back on it, this simple sandwich can also be a good metaphor for how you shouldn’t overcomplicate things in life – sometimes, the simplest solution and a bit of flair or courage can bring astonishing results.

My trip to Italy helped me understand more about other cultures, allowed me to find my passion (and let’s not forget about my first crush), taught me to cherish nature and do my best to protect it, and – maybe – inspired in me the courage to experiment (or, at least, it gave me the opportunity to discover that I adore pineapple & cheese sandwiches). This is why it is my favorite holiday memory.

500+ Words Essay on Childhood Memories

We all remember our childhood friends, interesting incidents relating to them, our family members, relatives, and so many other things. Childhood is a lovely time that everyone remembers. It is the period that everyone cherishes as this builds our foundation when we are growing. In our childhood, we were carefree and innocent. We don’t know what jealousy is and have no complexes regarding ourselves and others. It was time for play, studies and vacations. We were gorging on our favourite food without any restrictions, playing pranks on our siblings, and supporting our siblings when we had to face the wrath of our parents. Those days won’t come back, but we can remember those childhood memories.

My Childhood Memories

I have a lot of childhood memories. Here, I will be sharing the one which is the most memorable to me. In my childhood, we used to go to my grandparents’ house at least once a year. We mostly visit my grandparents’ house during my school summer vacation. My grandparents live in a small village which is located near Kanpur city in Uttar Pradesh. I wake up early in the morning and go to the farmhouse. Near the farmhouse, we have farming land, where various crops are grown. By that time in the summer, the crops are ready to harvest. I love to see the harvesting process. In the farmhouse, I get prepared by taking a bath in the running water of the tubewell. I love that moment. The cold water and fresh air refresh my mind, and it starts my day full of positive energy.

My grandmother cooks the food in the traditional style by using the “Chulha”, a U-shaped mud stove made from local clay. I love the taste of cooked food. It’s so delicious and yummy. Also, during summer, my grandmother made papad, pickles of mango and green chilli. I just love eating them. We also have one cow and two buffaloes in the farmhouse. Due to this, there is a lot of milk and curd available in my house. It’s my duty to make Lassi, and we drink it every day after having lunch. At night, we sleep on the terrace to feel cool during summer. All my cousins gather at the terrace, and we enjoy it together. Everyone drinks a glass of milk before going to sleep.

Another naughty incident that I remember from my childhood was when I was studying at LKG. My parents had gone for a walk after having dinner at night. They informed me that they would be coming back soon, so I should not lock the door from the inside. I was watching the TV and said ok. After some time, I went to the kitchen to have a glass of water, and I locked the main door. I didn’t realise when I slept while watching the TV. My parents came, and they kept knocking on the door. I didn’t get up, and they had to be outside the home for the whole night. They went to the neighbours’ house and stayed there. In the morning, when I got up, I opened the door and called my parents.

Childhood is the best part of everyone’s life. Childhood memories give us different kinds of experiences. Whatever we have learned in our childhood lasts for a long time. Some experiences are joyful, while some help us learn lessons. These lessons give us the strength to stay positive in life even when situations are not in our favour.

Essay On My Happiest Memory

A perfect picnic.

It was a beautiful summer day when my friend group decided to get together for a picnic. We packed blankets, snacks, and activities, then headed to a shady spot under enormous trees at the park. (Topic sentence) Setting up, I remember giggling at silly inside jokes and anticipating treats like sandwiches and juice boxes. Bright sunshine dappled green grass as we played together carefree like the warmth never intended to leave our skin.

A (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Memorable Treasure Hunt

To entertain ourselves, we devised an epic scavenger hunt around the whole park with riddles we had to solve to find various items to earn points. Racing through tulip patches and playgrounds with others cheering us on brought such glee. (Transition) My friend gave the best clue, hinting at a hidden spot near three oaks, which led me to discover a fake diamond ring – the round goes to me! (Topic sentence) Coming together for play lifted smiles as high as songbirds singing praise.

A Picnic Masterpiece

After working up an appetite with activities, we claimed a spot under willow branches hanging low as curtains to share our feast. Homemade cookies, fruits cut like flowers, and sandwiches cut into star shapes became art on our plates to savor and could not wait to taste. (Transition) Cool lemonade and giggles between bites kept shoulders touching in the shade of a tree aloft, a luminous sphere rising golden through leafy boughs overhead. (Topic sentence) Not a single drop of blue remained in the skies by the picnic’s end, yet its imprint stayed upon my heart.

Day’s End Delight

That afternoon was strung too perfectly with moments meant not to last, so basking in its beauty while daylight still embraced us seemed most wise. Slide down a grassy hill could lift any spirit skyward, then float back down, unraveling laughter’s melody once more. (Transition) Waving goodbye, holding memory near outlined in light spilled across the clouds, and I found refuge under knowing joy’s tune played on within. (Topic sentence) Though years may pass between, not a note could be forgotten of picnic played for keeps upon that summer’s sweetest day.

Cherished Gem

Simply reliving this happiest memory through writing brings my heart the same comfort felt among dear ones that dusk. The carefree play, shared treats, and bonding make it a treasured gem to hold near whenever the skies cloud over. Though many wonderful memories await, precious few may shine as bright as the favorite, happiest picnic’s glow. I am blessed to have such company and moments to revisit wherever life finds me.

My siblings were very good with me. I used to spend lots of time with them at home. We had different types of games to play together. I loved playing cricket and football mostly.

First Day at School:

The first day at school is the best childhood memory that I can recall. That was a tough day for me. I was not a good boy who wanted to go to school with his own wish. I did different things to not go to school.

But finally, my father bought me some books, a school bag, and a school uniform and I agreed to go to school. The first day was full of scariness for me. We went to the headmaster’s room and he asked me some easy questions. I knew the answers but I was unable to answer due to lots of pressure going on in my head.

Along with lots of good experiences I have some horrible childhood experiences too. When I was five years old, I didn’t know how to swim. And that time I was in the village. We were playing football and there was a pond near the field.

When the ball went to the pond, someone went and picked it. A boy thought I might know how to swim and he pushed me to the pond. When I was trying to come out of the water but couldn’t he was laughing and thinking that I was making fun.

Memories are one of the most important things we cherish throughout our lives. All our knowledge and previous experiences are stored there, so they build our personality. Memories can be good or bad. There are memories from the distant past or the more recent past. In times of crisis, we can refresh ourselves by recalling good memories.

My Childhood Memories Essay - 100, 200, 500 Words

Childhood memories always bring smiles to our faces because of the innocence that lies within them. People feel happy when they think about and discuss these memories.

One of my strongest childhood memories is playing in the park with my best friend. We would spend hours there, running and playing on the swings and slides. The sun would beat down on us as we giggled and chased each other, and our laughter echoed in my mind even now. We would also play games of tag and hide and seek and always have fun. I remember feeling so carefree and happy in those moments, with no worry. These memories of playing in the park with my best friend bring back feelings of pure joy and innocence, and I will always treasure them as some of my fondest childhood memories.

Memory is an interesting and important part of our lives. When I look back on my childhood, I recall many stories. Some make me happy, and others help me learn and grow.

Summer At My grandparents

One of my fondest childhood memories is spending summers at my grandparents' house in the countryside. The lush green fields and tall trees surrounded the house, and I loved going on adventures with my cousins through the fields and woods. We would spend hours playing hide and seek, building forts, and catching fireflies at night.

My grandfather was always around, tending to the garden or working on some new project. He taught me how to fish in the nearby stream, and we would spend hours together on the bank, chatting and enjoying the peaceful surroundings.

The days at my grandparents' house seemed to stretch forever, filled with laughter and joy. The house was always filled with the scent of fresh baked goods, and my grandmother would spend hours in the kitchen whipping up delicious meals. I will always treasure these memories of spending time with my grandparents and cousins in the peaceful countryside. They are a reminder of the simple joys in life and make me grateful for the people and experiences that have shaped me into the person I am today.

Childhood memories are an essential part of our life. The happiest, most incredibly unforgettable childhood memories are the ones that are hard to forget. The best part of childhood is spending it with other children. Childhood memories are the sweetest of all memories; they are a collection of happy moments that stay with us forever.

There are many memories that I have forgotten, but there are some that I can easily recall. Those are golden memories, and time has become precious. Childhood is the most exciting and beautiful time in our life. We were at a stage in our life free from worries and problems.

Why do childhood memories matter?

Childhood memories play an important role in our lives. They shape our destinies and our outlook on life. What a person learns as a child usually stays with them. From childhood, he is taught the importance of discipline, punctuality, ethics and values, and then these values will accompany him throughout his life. Childhood memories are strongly influenced by family and its values, experiences, and interests. They often reflect a child's early ability to remember things.

They range from the mundane to the elegant, the funny to the touching, but most of them are vague and elusive, often irrelevant, and sometimes downright unnatural.Childhood memories shape one's identity and provide comfort and familiarity. They also serve as a source of nostalgia, reminding us of happy times and special moments that bring joy and a feeling of connection to the past. They also help us understand our family history, cultural background, and experiences that have shaped us into who we are today.

My Childhood Memory

One of my most memorable childhood memories is playing with my friends in my neighborhood. I grew up in a small village surrounded by lush green trees and rolling hills. My friends and I would spend hours exploring the woods, building forts, and playing games. We were always outside, regardless of the weather, and we never seemed to run out of things to do.

One of our favorite games captured the flag. We would divide into two teams, each with their own flag that they would hide. The game's objective was to capture the other team's flag and bring it back to your base without getting tagged. The games would last for hours and were always filled with laughter, screams, and running.

Another memory I have is of baking cookies with my grandmother. She lived next door to us, and every time we visited, she always had some baked treat waiting for us. My sister and I would help her mix the ingredients, roll out the dough, and cut out the cookies. Then, we would watch as they baked to perfection in the oven. The smell of freshly baked cookies would fill the entire house, and it was a smell I would always associate with my grandmother.

These memories are special to me because they represent my childhood's carefree and joyful times. They remind me of the importance of spending time with loved ones and enjoying the simple things in life. I am grateful for these memories and how they bring a smile to my face every time I think about them.

My school days were the best days of my life . I still remember my first day at school . My school life is the brightest part of my memory.

I can still feel how warmly my school welcomed me. The affection I received from my teachers and the love I received from my classmates will never be forgotten. That’s why I always consider my primary school memories as the treasure of my life.

Those who are my best friends today, I got from my school. And those teachers of my childhood are still my fatherly guardians. This is how my school life has helped me and enriched me.

I think if I didn’t have the golden memories and valuable experiences of my school life, I would have missed a lot in my life. I did not get my wonderful friends, my experiences, and happy memories. Those days of excitement helped me to appreciate the value of time and to find meaning in life.

My school life has taught me how to be disciplined , responsible, hardworking, and realistic. That’s how my school life made me, so today I’m happy with my career. I believe that what school life teaches a person really affects the rest of his life.

One of the brightest memories of my school was the day I won the prize in the annual inter-school science competition. It was an event of great joy for me and my parents and a moment of great pride for my school. The principal of our school gave me a medal that day.

In my school life, I used to note down all my events in a personal diary. Now when I get a little leisure, I open the diary. In this notebook, I am delighted to discover the memories and experiences of my school life. It fills me with confidence and courage.

I remember how happy my parents were when I got first place in the whole school. They embraced me with joy and love.

It is said that a person always remembers his first day and last day in school. I remember that too. I cried the first day I went to school, the same way I cried the last day of my school life, because of the sadness of leaving. That’s how school days are the most memorable days of my life.

My Childhood Memory Essay, 600 Words

Introduction: Childhood days are very special to every person. A human child is born in a very helpless and weak form. Parents raise the child with utmost care and unconditional love. So, that period is a happy period for most people. However, childhood can be full of sorrow and nightmares for some orphans and helpless people. My childhood days were full of happy events. There were some sorrows too. But the happy memories invariably overshadow the sorry recollections. When I think of my childhood days I have a feeling of joy. My childhood days passed at Agrabad in Chittagong town. There we lived in a one-storied building.

Siblings, Parents, and Grandparents: I was the third child of my parents. My two elder sisters played with me and loved me very much. They shared every delicious food item with me. In the mornings and afternoons, I walked and played in the garden and on the roof of our house with my sisters. I asked them every type of question and they replied to my questions with their imaginations and little knowledge. I annoyed my sisters very much and wanted to follow them everywhere. My parents and sisters told me different types of stories. Those stories developed my imagination to full bloom. We had a radio and a cassette player in our house. I listened to different melodious songs on the radio and cassette player with my family. My grandparents also lived with us. I liked to pass time with them and listen to their experiences. Sometimes I made mistakes and when my parents were about to punish me, my grandparents always saved me. My grandparents died when I was seven years old. It was a matter of great shock to us. I still miss them.

Friends and Playmates: I had a few friends. They were our neighbors. At that time television was very costly and very few families had it. There was a color television in one of my friends’ houses. Sometimes I went to his house to watch TV. The programs on TV fascinated me. The number of my friends increased when I got admitted to the school.

The School: I was admitted to school at the age of five. The school was a very short distance from our house. I clearly remember my first day at school. I got up early in the morning, put on a white shirt and blue pants, and went to school with my father. In school, I met my teachers and classmates. My classmates were friendly and nice to me. My teachers also loved me very much.

Market and Park: Sometimes my parents took me to the market. At the market, they bought me dresses, chocolates, toys, balls, and other necessary items. They also took me to parks. We had a merry-go-round and other kinds of rides in the parks.

The Fairs: I also went to fairs with my parents. There is a big fair held annually in Chittagong. It is called ‘Jabbarer Bali Khela’. Many attractive toys and household items are found at that fair. My parents took me to that fair and bought me toys and sweetmeats. We also went to other fairs held on the occasion of Bengali New Year’s Day, Victory Day, Language Day, etc. We also went to different book fairs where my parents bought me books suitable for children.

Conclusion: A happy feeling engulfs me when I think of my childhood days. Then I lost myself in reverie and feel a strong nostalgia and longing for those days. That period has essentially made me the man I am now.

Hello, Mr Haque I’m a teacher of English at an Algerian middle school and I find your essay very useful and I’m presenting it as a test for my students could you, please tell me what is the source of your passage?

Dear Razika , Thank you for your comment. I am from Bangladesh. I am very happy to hear that you liked one of my blog essays. If I say about the source of writing, almost half of the writing on this site I have taken from some English grammar books of our country’s schools which are not included in the main syllabus and students read them as supplementary guidebooks. The other half of the essays and paragraphs here are my own.

Could you please tell me the topics or titles of some essays and paragraphs that are not on my blog but are often asked to write in schools in Algeria?
