ప్రముఖ సీనియర్ నటుడు జగపతిబాబు ప్రధాన పాత్రలో మమతా మోహన్ దాస్, విమలా రామన్ తదితరులు కీలక పాత్రల్లో నటించిన లేటెస్ట్ పీరియాడిక్ డ్రామా “రుద్రంగి”. మరి బాలయ్య గెస్ట్ గా వచ్చి ప్రమోట్ చేసిన ఈ చిత్రం ఎలా ఉందో సమీక్షలో తెలుసుకుందాం రండి.

ఇక కథలోకి వస్తే..ఈ చిత్రం 1940వ దశకంలో సెట్ చేయబడింది కాగా ఈ చిత్రంలో ఓ క్రూరమైన మూర్ఖుడు అలాగే ఆడవారి పట్ల అధికమోహం కలవాడు, తన ప్రాంత ప్రజలను ఎలాంటి దయ లేకుండా పాలించే రాజు భీమ్ రావు దేశముఖ్(జగపతి బాబు) కాగా అతడు అప్పటికే మీరాభాయి(విమలా రామన్) పెళ్లి చేసుకుంటాడు కానీ తనకి ఉన్న కామోద్రేక భావనలతో మరో స్త్రీ జ్వాలా భాయి(మమతా మోహన్ దాస్) ని కూడా పెళ్లి చేసుకుంటాడు. అయితే జ్వాలా తాలూకా స్వభావం నడవడిక భీమ్ రావు ఆమెని దూరంగా ఉండమని చెప్తాడు. అయితే ఓరోజు భీమ్ రుద్రంగి(గానవి లక్ష్మణ్) అనే మరో అమ్మాయిని చూసి ఆమె అందం పట్ల మోహితుడు అవుతాడు. దీనితో ఆమెతో ఎలాగైనా సరే శారీరిక సుఖం పొందాలని అనుకుంటాడు. మరి ఈ ప్రక్రియలో ఆమెకోసం భీమ్ రావు ఓ ఊహించని నిజాన్ని తెలుసుకుంటాడు. మరి అది ఏంటి? ఆమెని తాను వశపరుచుకుంటాడా లేదా అసలు చివరికి ఏం జరిగింది అనేది అసలు కథ.

ప్లస్ పాయింట్స్ :

ఈ చిత్రంలో మొట్టమొదటిగా మాట్లాడుకోవాల్సింది మాత్రం వెర్సటైల్ నటుడు జగపతిబాబు కోసమే అన్ని చెప్పాలి. తాను నెగిటివ్ షేడ్ ఉన్న పాత్రల్లో చాలా సినిమాలు చేసినప్పటికీ ఇందులో తన పాత్ర మరింత కొత్తగా ఉంటే దానిని అంతే అద్భుతంగా తాను రక్తి కట్టించారని చెప్పాలి. అసలు దయా దాక్షిణ్యాలు లేని పాలకుడిగా ఓ కామాంధునిగా పాత్రలో ఒదిగిపోయి అన్ని రసాలు అద్భుతంగా పండించారు. అలాగే తనపై కొన్ని సీన్స్ పలు మేనరిజం లు ఇంట్రెస్టింగ్ గా అనిపిస్తాయి.

ఇక మరో నటుడు ఆశిష్ గాంధీ కూడా మంచి నటన కనబరిచారు. తనపై డిజైన్ చేసిన సీన్స్ గాని జగపతిబాబు పై తాను తిరగబడే ఎపిసోడ్స్ కూడా నీట్ గా హ్యాండిల్ చేయబడ్డాయి. ఇక మరో కీలక పాత్రలో నటించిన హీరోయిన్స్ మమతా మోహన్ దాస్, గానవి లక్ష్మి లు, విమలా రామన్ లు అయితే తమ పాత్రల్లో ఇంప్రెస్ చేస్తారు. జ్వాలా భాయి గా మమతా మోహన్ దాస్ ఇంటర్వెల్ బ్లాక్ లో అదరగొట్టేసింది.

మైనస్ పాయింట్స్ :

ఈ చిత్రంలో ఫస్టాఫ్ వరకు ఇంట్రెస్టింగ్ గా మంచి ఎంగేజింగ్ గానే ఉంటుంది. కానీ సెకండాఫ్ లోనే అసలు సమస్య మొదలవుతుంది. ఇందులో ప్రొసీడింగ్స్ నెమ్మదిస్తాయి. అలాగే సినిమాలో మెయిన్ థీమ్ కూడా పక్కకి వెళ్లినట్టు అనిపిస్తుంది.

అలాగే సెకండాఫ్ లో నెమ్మదయ్యే కథనం సినిమాని చాలా బోర్ గా ఫీల్ అయ్యేలా చేస్తుంది. దీనితో సినిమా మరీ పెద్దదిలా అనిపిస్తుంది. ఇక వీటితో పాటుగా ఈ చిత్రంలో సరైన ఎమోషన్స్ కూడా మిస్ అవుతాయి. కొంతవరకు ఓకే కానీ ఇంకా కొన్ని సీన్స్ ని బెటర్ గా ఫాస్ట్ గా చూపిస్తే బాగుండు.

ఇక మరో పాయింట్ ఏమిటంటే సినిమాలో ఎంతో టెర్రఫిక్ గా చూపించిన మమతా మోహన్ దాస్ పాత్రని ఇక ఒక టైం కి వచ్చేసరికి కంప్లీట్ గా పక్కన పెట్టేయడం ఆశ్చర్యంగా అనిపిస్తుంది. ఇది కూడా సెకండాఫ్ లో బిగ్ బ్లండర్ అని చెప్పొచ్చు. ఇక వీటితో పాటుగా సినిమాలో యాక్షన్ బ్లాక్ లు సినిమా క్లైమాక్స్ ని ఇంకా బెటర్ గా డిజైన్ చేసి ప్రెజెంట్ చేసి ఉంటే బాగుండు.

సాంకేతిక వర్గం :

ఈ చిత్రంలో నిర్మాణ విలువలు మాత్రం చాలా బాగున్నాయి. మేకర్స్ ఖర్చు సినిమాలో ప్రొడక్షన్ డిజైన్ అలాగే నటీనటుల కాస్ట్యూమ్స్ లో కూడా కనిపిస్తుంది. అయిస్ నవళ్ రాజా సంగీతం, సంతోష్ షనమోని సినిమాటోగ్రఫీ లు పర్వాలేదు. ఎడిటింగ్ కూడా ఒకే ఏమన్నా చేసి ఉంటే సెకండాఫ్ లో చేయాల్సింది. ఇక దర్శకుడు అజయ్ సామ్రాట్ విషయానికి వస్తే..

ఈ చిత్రానికి తాను పర్వాలేదనిపించే వర్క్ చేసాడు. అయితే ఫస్టాఫ్ వరకు అన్ని థింగ్స్ బాగానే హ్యాండిల్ చేసిన తాను సెకండాఫ్ విషయంలో తడబడ్డాడు. అక్కడ కూడా సరిగ్గా హ్యాండిల్ చేసి ఉంటే ఓ కంప్లీట్ ప్యాకేజీలా ఈ చిత్రం అయ్యేది. జగపతి బాబు ఇతర మెయిన్ లీడ్ కాస్ట్ ను తాను బాగా డిజైన్ చేసాడు కానీ నరేషన్ విషయంలో కూడా ఇంకా బెటర్ గా వర్క్ చేసి ఉంటే బాగుండేది.

ఇక మొత్తంగా చూసినట్టు అయితే పీరియాడిక్ బ్యాక్ డ్రాప్ లో వచ్చిన ఈ “రుద్రంగి” లో జగపతి బాబు వన్ మాన్ షో అయితే కనిపిస్తుంది. అలాగే మమతా మోహన్ దాస్, గానవి లు కూడా మంచి నటన కనబరిచారు. అలాగే కొన్ని అంశాలు వరకు ఈ చిత్రం బాగానే ఆకట్టుకుంటుంది కానీ సెకండాఫ్ ని, పలు ఎమోషన్స్ ని కీలక బ్లాక్ లు బాగా డిజైన్ చేసి ఉంటే బాగున్ను. వీటితో అయితే ఈ వారాంతానికి కొంతమేర ఈ సినిమా ఆకట్టుకుంటుంది.

'బాహుబలి' మాటల రచయితలలో ఒకరైన అజయ్ సామ్రాట్ (Ajay Samrat) దర్శకుడిగా పరిచయమైన సినిమా 'రుద్రంగి' (Rudrangi Movie). తెలంగాణ దొర సంస్కృతి నేపథ్యంలో రూపొందించారు. జగపతి బాబు, ఆశిష్ గాంధీ, మమతా మోహన్ దాస్, విమలా రామన్, గానవి లక్ష్మణ్ ప్రధాన పాత్రలు పోషించారు. ఈ సినిమా ఎలా ఉంది? 

కథ (Rudrangi Movie Story) : భీమ్ రావ్ (జగపతి బాబు) దొర. భార్య మీరాబాయి (విమలా రామన్) బతికుండగా... మరో మహిళ జ్వాలాబాయి దేశ్ ముఖ్ (మమతా మోహన్ దాస్)ను పెళ్లి చేసుకుని గడికి తీసుకు వస్తాడు. తన సొగసు రాజ్యం ఎలుకోమని దగ్గరకు వస్తే ఆడతనం లేదని పక్కన పెడతాడు. దొరకు నమ్మిన బంటు మల్లేష్ (ఆశిష్ గాంధీ) మీద మనసు పడుతుంది జ్వాల. అదే సమయంలో వేటకి వెళ్ళిన భీమ్ రావ్ కంట పడుతుంది రుద్రంగి (గానవి లక్ష్మణ్). ఆమెను అనుభవించాలని అనుకంటాడు. అయితే... చేతికి చిక్కినట్టే చిక్కి జారుకుంటుంది. 

ఆ అమ్మాయిని వెతికి తీసుకొచ్చిన మల్లేష్... రుద్రంగి తన మరదలు అని, తమను వదిలేయమని చెబుతాడు. నమ్మించి రుద్రంగి మీద అత్యాచారం చేయడానికి భీమ్ రావ్ ప్రయత్నిస్తాడు. అప్పుడు మల్లేష్ ఎదురు తిరుగుతాడు. అతడిని జ్వాల మద్దతు ఇస్తుంది. ఆ తర్వాత ఏమైంది? మల్లేష్ గతం ఏమిటి? దేశానికి స్వాతంత్య్రం వచ్చినా దొర కింద బానిసల్లా బతుకుతున్న రుద్రంగి ప్రజల కోసం మల్లేష్ దంపతులు ఏం చేశారు? రుద్రంగిని అనుభవించడం కోసం భీమ్ రావ్ ఏం చేశాడు? చివరకు ఎవరు ఎవరిని ఏం చేశారు? అనేది తెర మీద చూడాలి.

విశ్లేషణ (Rudrangi Movie Review) : తెలంగాణ దొర సంస్కృతి, గడీల నేపథ్యంలో 'ఒసేయ్ రాములమ్మ'తో పాటు కొన్ని చిత్రాలు వచ్చాయి. అయితే... ప్రజల విముక్తి కోసం అప్పట్లో ఎంతోమంది ప్రాణ త్యాగాలు చేశారు. కొందరు మాన త్యాగాలు కూడా చేశారు. వాళ్ళ త్యాగాలకు అర్పించిన నివాళిగా 'రుద్రంగి'ని చెప్పవచ్చు. 

'రుద్రంగి' ప్రారంభం నుంచి ముగింపు వరకు ఎక్కువ సన్నివేశాల్లో భావోద్వేగాలు ప్రేక్షకుల్ని ఆకట్టుకుంటాయి. సీన్స్, ఎమోషన్స్ విషయంలో దర్శకుడు అజయ్ మంచి కమాండ్ చూపించాడు. ముఖ్యంగా మాటలు చాలా బావున్నాయి. అయితే నిర్మాణపరమైన పరిమితులు తెలుస్తూ అడుగడుగునా తెలుస్తున్నాయి. భారీ బడ్జెట్ ఇస్తే మంచి సినిమా తీసే ప్రతిభ దర్శకుడిలో ఉందని 'రుద్రంగి' చూస్తే అర్థం అవుతుంది. 

'చూసే కళ్లకు ఏం తెలుస్తది, మోసే గుండెకి తెలిస్తది', 'గుండెల నిండా కన్నీళ్లు నింపుకొన్నొడికి గొంతుల నుంచి మాట ఎలా వస్తది' వంటి మాటలు సన్నివేశాల్లో ఆత్మను తెరపై ఆవిష్కరించాయి. నటీనటులు తమ ప్రతిభతో ఆ సన్నివేశాల్లో భావోద్వేగాలను ప్రేక్షకులకు చేరువ అయ్యేలా చేశారు. అయితే... కథగా చూస్తే 'రుద్రంగి'లో కొత్తదనం లేదు. ప్రథమార్థంలో ఉన్నవేగం ద్వితీయార్థంలో లేదు. దొరకు బానిస లాంటి బంటు ఎదురు తిరిగిన తర్వాత ఏమవుతుంది? అనేది ప్రేక్షకుల ఊహకు సులభంగా అందే అంశమే. మళ్ళీ జగపతి బాబు క్యారెక్టరైజేషన్, పతాక సన్నివేశాలు చిన్నపాటి షాక్ మూమెంట్, వావ్ ఫ్యాక్టర్ ఇస్తాయి. విశ్రాంతి తర్వాత కథను వేగంగా నడిపి ఉంటే బావుండేది. కెమెరా వర్క్, మ్యూజిక్ బావున్నాయి. కైలాష్ ఖేర్ పాడిన పాట, ఆ సన్నివేశాలు వచ్చినప్పుడు గూస్ బంప్స్ గ్యారంటీ. 

నటీనటులు ఎలా చేశారు? : 'రుద్రంగి'లో అసలు సిసలైన కథానాయకుడు జగపతి బాబు. ఆయన పోషించిన భీమ్ రావ్ పాత్రలో ప్రతినాయక ఛాయల ఉన్నాయి. కానీ, సినిమా చూస్తుంటే ఆయన హీరోలా కనిపిస్తారు. నటుడిగానూ కొత్త జగపతి బాబు కనిపిస్తారు. నటనలోనూ కొత్త కోణం చూపించారు. ఆయన చేసే ఒక విధమైన గర్జన ప్రేక్షకుల దృష్టిని ఆకర్షిస్తుంది. 

జగపతి బాబు తర్వాత ప్రేక్షకులకు ఎక్కువ గుర్తుండే పాత్ర మమతా మోహన్ దాస్. దొరతనం, రాజసం కలగలిపిన పాత్రలో అద్భుతమైన నటన కనబరిచారు. విమలా రామన్ సైతం పాత్ర న్యాయం చేశారు. ఆమె చక్కగా నటించారు. మల్లేష్ పాత్రకు అవసరమైన కండపుష్టి ఆశిష్ గాంధీకి ఉంది. పౌరుషం చూపే సన్నివేశాలతో పాటు జగపతి బాబు పాత్రకు కట్టుబానిసలా చక్కగా చేశారు. 'వేద' ఫేమ్ గానవి లక్ష్మణ్, 'కాలకేయ' ప్రభాకర్ తదితరులు పాత్రల పరిధి మేరకు చేశారు. నిర్మాత రసమయి బాలకిషన్ ఓ పాటలో తళుక్కున మెరిశారు.

చివరగా చెప్పేది ఏంటంటే? : జగపతి బాబు, మమతా మోహన్ దాస్ నటన కోసం అయినా సరే 'రుద్రంగి'ని చూడొచ్చు. మాటల్లో, సన్నివేశాల్లో దర్శకుడు అజయ్ సామ్రాట్ కమాండ్ చూపించారు. పీరియాడిక్ ఫిలిమ్స్ ఇష్టపడే, చూడాలని కోరుకునే ప్రేక్షకుల్ని 'రుద్రంగి' మెప్పిస్తుంది.

Director Ajay Samrat’s Rudrangi is set in the pre-Independence era when Hyderabad State was under Nizam’s rule.  

Somewhere in the nondescript village of Rundrangi in the hinterland of Telangana, an aged man named Maisi wants to see Mallesh (Ashish Gandhi) and Rudrangi (Ganavi Laxman) get married before he leaves this world.  

Maisi is a slave under the feudal lord Bhujanga Rao (Kalakeya Prabhakar). He is forced to pay the price for refusing to work for the feudal lord and succumbs to the torture.

Young boy Mallesh revolts against injustice. However, he fails to take revenge.

Meanwhile, another feudal lord named Bheem Rao Dhora (Jagapathi Babu) gives him shelter and nurtures him.

How Mallesh avenges his grandfather’s murder? Will he unite with Rudrangi? How does the pervasive behaviour of Bheem Rao trouble Mallesh and Rudrangi? What the people of Rudrangi had to sacrifice in lieu of averting a possible famine in the region?

This is the story to watch out for in the second half.

Too fictional.

The story of Rudrangi is set in a fictional village of the Telangana region during the feudal era of Nizam.

The film portrays a vivid picture of social discrimination that was prevalent during the pre-Independence era when people had to face severe oppression from state-appointed Jagirdars (landlords) in the erstwhile princely State of Hyderabad.  

Deshmukhs have a firm hold of the regions in the interiors. People revolting against slavery are perfectly depicted through various characters in the film.

However, rather than making it more organic and natural, the director makes the script too fictional in the second half.

As a result, more than drama, you would have to wait for the scene to pass on to know what happens next.

Jagapathi babu’s show.

Kalakeya Prabhakar as an aggressive and violent landlord Bujanga Rao looks frightening on the screen and does a good job.

Jagapathi Babu as Bheem Rao Deshmukh, the arch-rival of Bujanga Rao, is the spine of Rudrangi .

The crooked and pervasive nature of sex-thirsty landlords gives Bheem Rao a distinctive tinge to his character. His Oxford education and despotic characteristic make Bheem Rao more beastly in appearance.

Jagapathi Babu’s mannerisms evoke laughter in a few scenes in the hall. A few one-liners like B*sedk and l**jakodaka are used as though to emote ferocity in the character.

But the impact gets diluted when the story lags behind. Jagapathi has his moments in Rudrangi though.

Mamta Mohandas is impressive in her role as Jwala Bhai Deshmukh. A warrior-queen, Jwala comes to the fort as the second wife of Bheem Rao.

Vimala Raman as Meerabhai Dhora gives her best.

Ganavi Laxma’s performance as Rudrangi is commendable.

Ashish Gandhi as a trained warrior in traditional warfare deserves laurel for his efforts.

Divi Vadthya’s peppy item number during the first half is good.

Producer Rasamayi Balakishan, too, is featured in the folklore song that coincides with the famous Nagoba festival held in Telangana.

Technicalities.

Rudrangi is rich in visuals, barring a few scenes. The cinematography by Santosh Shanamoni is appreciable.

Nawfal Raja’s music too is good.  

The editing should have been crisp in the second half. The scenes where people revolt against Bheem Rao and his death are too sluggish.

Rudrangi is not an extraordinary execution of the script. But the director does his best to narrate the story through the characters of those times.

The drama takes a backseat in the process as the story becomes too fictional.

Rudrangi movie review.

The trailer of the film revealed that it is set in the period backdrop of Telangana. The title sounds unique, and the content in the trailer looked impressive and pinned some expectations.

Let’s see what the film has in store.

Story : The village of Rudrangi is under the rule of Bheemrao Deshmukh (Jagapathi Babu). He has a wife named Meerabai (Vimala Raman) and brings Jwalamukhi Deshmukh (Mamata Mohandas) as his second wife. Jwala is a strong and warrior-like woman. However, Bheemrao is not attracted to her as he fails to see her femininity. Don’t know why he married and brought her in the first place.

Meanwhile, Jwala, who is deprived of intimacy, becomes attracted to a slave named Mallesh (Asish Gandhi), who works under Bheemrao.

On the other hand, Bheemrao is attracted to a village girl named Rudrangi (Ganavi Laxman). Who is she? What happens next forms the main story. The film also introduces the backstory of Bhujangarao (Prabhakar) at the beginning.

Artists’ Performances : Asish Gandhi plays the protagonist but lacks acting skills. Although he has a muscular physique, his facial expressions are almost nonexistent. He maintains a static and stoic expression for most of the film. It’s unclear whether this is due to his lack of talent or the director’s inability to bring out the actor in him.

Ganavi Laxman plays the female lead and the title role. She delivers a decent performance but overall feels ordinary. She fails to embody the grace expected of her character.

Jagapathi Babu is too loud and appears artificial. His attempt at a typical Telangana accent comes across as a mockery. He portrays his character as a sex maniac throughout the film.

Mamata Mohandas plays another character who desires intimacy with the protagonist. She, too, is loud and at times overacts.

Vimala Raman plays a docile character, and her performance is reasonable and understated.

Prabhakar’s performance in the initial part of the film is exaggerated and unbearable. His portrayal of cruelty feels forced and disgusting.

The actor who plays the role of Karanam comes across as an outdated sidekick with weak dialogues and average screen presence.

Technical Excellence : Technically, the movie is brilliant in some aspects. Art direction and costumes are good.

The editing is fine, although some dialogues sound repetitive, which is a fault of the script.

The dialogues are weak and delivered loudly. There is a lack of intelligence and sharpness in the writing. Everything feels loud and exaggerated, imitating popular films.

The cinematography is adequate, and the background score is satisfactory. However, the songs, except for “Ee kshaname oopiragina samburame…,” are dull.

Highlights : Art and costumes

Drawbacks : Weak story Poor dialogue Second half Climax

Analysis : Here Rudrangi is the name of a village as well as that of the female lead. Generally spoofs are made to generate comedy, but here it is a serious thing.

The film appears to be a medley of movies like Bahubali, Rangasthalam, Magadheera and RX100 with scenes directly inspired by them. There is a lack of originality in the filmmaking style. The writing seems amateurish, making it feel like a grandly made stage drama with outdated standards. Certain scenes remind us of iconic moments from other films, but the emotional impact is nowhere near comparable. The film tries to imitate successful movies, including RGV’s Bhairavageetha, but falls short.

In summary, there is a lack of originality in the plot, ambience, and filmmaking style. It is a poorly made film that draws inspiration from contemporary films without offering anything new. There is an excessive buildup in certain scenes, but the content is weak. The inclusion of a madwoman who later appears normal lacks purpose and emotional depth.

The first half shows some progression, but the second half revolves entirely around Rudrangi Vs Dora context. The biggest flaw lies in the script, which portrays the protagonist as a dull character with no heroism.

The film fails to deliver poetic justice at any point. The villagers choose not to leave the village in spite of poor living conditions but succumb to the Dora’s sexual desires which lack common sense and intelligence, taking the audience for granted.

Overall, the film is a forgettable and tedious experience, with forced scenes and contrived narratives.

Bottomline : Ignorable

Rudrangi Movie(2023): What's Behind

Rudrangi starring Jagapathi Babu is generating immense interest as it is directed by Ajay Samrat who worked for Baahubali and RRR as a writer. The cast of Mamta MohanDas, Vimala Raman increased the curiosity and the teaser and trailer made an impact. The film's OTT partner is yet to be finalised and streaming will be after the end of its theatrical run. The film is releasing on 7 July 2023. Rudrangi Movie: Story Review

Rudrangi's story is all about how landlords even after independence oppressed the poor and downtrodden in a merciless manner.

The people of Rudrangi Village in Telangana after still under the rule of feudalism even after the Indian independence. They are oppressed by the likes of landlords (Doras). How the lives of Mahesh ( Asish Gandhi), Rudrangi( Ganavi Lakshman) get affected due to Bheemrao Deshmukh ( Jagapati Babu), Meera Bai( Vimala Raman), Mamatha MohanDas and Bhujanga Rao( Kalakeya Prabhakar) from the rest of the story.

Rudrangi Movie: Artists Review

Jagapathi Babu looked ferocious and menacing on the screen. He with his experience demonized the role increasing its intensity though it had routine shades. His menacing expressions through his eyes said many powerful words. His dialogue delivery though loud made a stunning impact. His body language and mannerisms showed that he did not act but lived in the role. However, his appearance looked quite odd and diluted the intensity levels.

Mamta MohanDas made a stunning return to the silver screen in Tollywood. She not only looked glamorous but her role filled with valor made a powerful impact. She made a strong presence on the screen and her dialogue delivery and accent are good though she fumbled at times. Vimala Raman is good as a loyal wife who couldn't raise her voice beyond a point. Ganavi Lakshman played the role of Rudrangi quite well. Her role is loaded with emotions and she did full justice.

Ashish Gandhi is the surprise pack. His introduction appeals to all and the high-octane scenes canned on him elevated the film to another level. Kaalakeya Prabhakar made his presence felt in a short but powerful role. RS. Nanda is good with his dialogues which are effective one-liners.

Rudrangi Movie: Technicians Review

Rudrangi's story penned by Ajay Samrat highlighted how the landlords crushed the poor and weaker sections in Telangana even after Independence. Ajay Samrat who worked as a writer for Rajamouli in RRR and Baahubali, wrote an intense action-packed story loaded with emotions.

He started the first half in an intense manner and highlighted the behavior, mannerism, and personality of various characters, he generated interest in dealing with the quadrangular love story. The first half is loaded with intense and powerful dialogues and emotions and it ends in an interesting manner with all the characters getting equal presence.

Many expected a similar kind of narration in the second half. However, Ajay Samrat concentrated only on two or three characters, and in the process, Mamta MohanDas who made an impact in the first half goes missing. This had an effect in the second half. Routiness crept in and emotions looked forced and much logic was missed in the second half. The climax seems to have been rushed.

The background score of Nawfal Raja Asi is good. It elevated the scenes and made a good impact. However, at times, it turned out to be loud. The songs are situational and the folk song shot by producer Rasamayi Balakishan is foottapping and impactful. Divi Vaidthya sizzled in a special song. Bonthala Nageswara Reddy's editing is good but could have been better in the second half. Dialogues are in sync with the story. The production values of Rasamayi Films are good.

Altogether, Rudrangi is an interesting periodic fictional drama. Ajay Samrat got the optimum from Jagapathi Babu, Mamta MohanDas, and Ashish Gandhi. Little tweaks in the script and screenplay working on the story would have turned Rudrangi more powerful. Considering all these elements.  Cinejosh goes with a 2.5 rating for Rudrangi.

Rudrangi, featuring Jagapathi Babu, Mamta Mohandas, Vimala Raman, and Ashish Gandhi in pivotal roles, has been released today. This period action drama is directed by Ajay Samrat. Let’s take a look at how the movie unfolds.

Set in the 1940s, the story revolves around Bheem Rao Deshmukh (played by Jagapathi Babu), a ruthless monarch and womanizer. His confidant is Mallesh (Ashish Gandhi). Bheem Rao rules over Rudrangi and treats the local people as his slaves. Meera Bhai (Vimala Raman) is his wife, but in order to satisfy his insatiable lust, he marries another woman named Jwala Bhai (Mamta Mohandas).

However, Bheem Rao is not pleased with Jwala Bhai’s tomboyish nature and asks her to stay away from him. One day, Bheem Rao encounters a woman named Rudrangi (Ganavi Laxman) and is captivated by her beauty. Bheem Rao is eager to engage in a sexual encounter with Rudrangi, but he discovers a shocking truth about her. What is it? How does it change the fate of the local people? This forms the crux of the story.

Highlights:

Undoubtedly, the spotlight is on Jagapathi Babu, who delivers a mesmerizing performance as Bheem Rao. He effortlessly embodies the character’s ruthlessness, menace, and charm, leaving a lasting impression. The actor’s portrayal is praiseworthy, with his performance deserving applause in many scenes.

Ashish Gandhi also shines in a significant role, delivering a sincere performance. His portrayal of anger and rebellion against Jagapathi Babu is commendable. Ganavi Laxman impresses in her respective role, and her character takes center stage in the second half. Vimala Raman delivers a fine performance in her limited role.

Mamta Mohandas is phenomenal as Jwala Bhai. Whenever she appears on screen, her fierce performance sets it ablaze, especially during the interval block, which offers an adrenaline rush. The first half maintains a good pace and features several high points.

While the first half satisfies, the second half fails to maintain the same momentum. Although the film’s central theme, “Battle for self-respect,” is present, the lack of thrilling moments disappoints.

Additionally, the pacing slows down in the second half, giving the impression of a lengthy movie. Things could have been wrapped up more swiftly. The emotional scenes are average and could have been presented better to provide a more complete experience.

Mamta Mohandas delivers a terrific performance in the first half, leaving audiences wanting to see more of her. Unfortunately, her role takes a backseat in the entire second half. The action sequences and climax are not up to par.

Overall, Rudrangi is a period drama that attempts to shed light on the issue of oppression. While the first half is decent, the second half falls short, diminishing the overall impact. Jagapathi Babu and Ashish Gandhi shine in their roles, but the emotional aspects could have been better portrayed. Mamta Mohandas’ role takes a backseat in the second half. Consequently, Rudrangi ends up being an okay watch for this weekend.

‘Rudrangi’, produced by Rasamayi Balakishan, will be released in theatres this Friday(July 7). The film was advertised as a fusion between action, emotion, romance and revolution. Here is our review.

Mallesh and Rudrangi are childhood lovers who are married off by the former’s grandfather. The old man is tortured to death by a local Dora named Bhujanga Rao (Kalakeya Prabhakar). Mallesh runs away from the village and happens to save another Dora named Bhim Rao (Jagapathi Babu) from a murder attempt in a village named Rudrangi. This brings the child closer to Bhim Rao.

Fifteen years later, Bhim Rao opts for second marriage with Jwala Bhai (Mamta Mohandas). Due to an unexpected turn, Jwala Bhai’s behavior results in chaos in Bhim Rao’s family. Mallesh and Rudrangi get entangled in this.

Performances:

Jagapathi Babu is a seasoned actor. There is no character he has not approached as an endeavour in recent years. In ‘Rudrangi’, he goes the whole hog due to the excessive arrogance written into his character. At the same time, he is likeable in the portions where he brims with lust.

Ashish Gandhi is a conscious actor who doesn’t switch off the influence of other artists. Mamta Mohandas is superb. Vimala Raman as the first wife of Bhim Rao is ok. Kalakeya Prabhakar is unbearable. Divi Vadthya is seen in an item song. Ganavi Laxman is average.

Technical Departments:

Santosh Shanamoni’s cinematography was purely meant to give typical angles. There was no dearth of scope for the photography but the key technician merely scratches the surface.

Ais Nawfal Raja’s music is fashioned after movies that fall in the similar genre. The situations don’t encourage him to innovate.

The stunts by Ram Sunkara and Jashuva lack fresh imagination at a time when even teasers are expected to thrill the viewer.

Plus Points:

• The incidents narrated after the first 25 minutes till the interval.
• Jagapathi Babu and Mamta Mohandas.
• The interpersonal dynamics depicted in the Dora’s household.
• The last 15-20 minutes.

Minus Points:

• Some routine dialogues.
• Cliches associated with village dramas.

Convenient and predictable scenes in the second half.

‘Rudrangi’ has a decent storyline. The second half is dragged down by routine elements. The climax is outdated. The first half is interesting.

Jagapathi Babu is too loud and appears artificial. His attempt at a typical Telangana accent comes across as a mockery. He portrays his character as a sex maniac throughout the film.

Mamata Mohandas plays another character who desires intimacy with the protagonist. She, too, is loud and at times overacts.

Vimala Raman plays a docile character, and her performance is reasonable and understated.

Prabhakar's performance in the initial part of the film is exaggerated and unbearable. His portrayal of cruelty feels forced and disgusting.

The actor who plays the role of Karanam comes across as an outdated sidekick with weak dialogues and average screen presence.

Technical Excellence: Technically, the movie is brilliant in some aspects. Art direction and costumes are good. 

The editing is fine, although some dialogues sound repetitive, which is a fault of the script. 

The dialogues are weak and delivered loudly. There is a lack of intelligence and sharpness in the writing. Everything feels loud and exaggerated, imitating popular films. 

The cinematography is adequate, and the background score is satisfactory. However, the songs, except for "Ee kshaname oopiragina samburame...," are dull.

Analysis: Here Rudrangi is the name of a village as well as that of the female lead. Generally spoofs are made to generate comedy, but here it is a serious thing. 

The film appears to be a medley of movies like Bahubali, Rangasthalam, Magadheera and RX100 with scenes directly inspired by them. There is a lack of originality in the filmmaking style. The writing seems amateurish, making it feel like a grandly made stage drama with outdated standards. Certain scenes remind us of iconic moments from other films, but the emotional impact is nowhere near comparable. The film tries to imitate successful movies, including RGV's Bhairavageetha, but falls short. 

In summary, there is a lack of originality in the plot, ambience, and filmmaking style. It is a poorly made film that draws inspiration from contemporary films without offering anything new. There is an excessive buildup in certain scenes, but the content is weak. The inclusion of a madwoman who later appears normal lacks purpose and emotional depth. 

The first half shows some progression, but the second half revolves entirely around Rudrangi Vs Dora context. The biggest flaw lies in the script, which portrays the protagonist as a dull character with no heroism. 

The film fails to deliver poetic justice at any point. The villagers choose not to leave the village in spite of poor living conditions but succumb to the Dora's sexual desires which lack common sense and intelligence, taking the audience for granted. 

Overall, the film is a forgettable and tedious experience, with forced scenes and contrived narratives.

Rudrangi Movie Review: Unleashing the Epic Saga of Myth and Magic!

The historical drama Rudrangi Movie is set in the Telangana village of Rudrangi during the first decades of Indian Independence. The plot centers on the romance of Mallesh and Rudrangi, childhood sweethearts who become embroiled in a complicated conflict involving the lecherous feudal lord Bhim Rao Deshmukh and his disgruntled second wife, Jwala Bhai.

Rudrangi Telugu Movie Review

An audience is transported to the early years of Indian Independence by the Telugu historical drama Rudrangi. Jagapathi Babu, Mamta Mohandas, Ashish Gandhi, and Ganavi Laxman are among the film’s brilliant ensemble cast, which is directed by Ajay Samrat.

Despite having a compelling plot and an authentic locale, Rudrangi Movie falls short in terms of conveying the emotional depth necessary to fully fascinate the spectator. The story, which is set in the Telangana village of Rudrangi, centers on the linked lives of childhood sweethearts Mallesh ( Ashish Gandhi ) and Rudrangi ( Ganavi Laxman ), who are torn between a complicated rivalry.

The story is made more intriguing by the adversary, a lecherous feudal lord named Bhim Rao Deshmukh ( Jagapathi Babu ), and his unhappy second wife, Jwala Bhai (Mamta Mohandas). The movie examines social hierarchy, betrayal, power, and love against the backdrop of a changing country.

As the terrifying and repulsive Bhim Rao Deshmukh, Jagapathi Babu does a commendable job of immersing himself in the role. Mamta Mohandas astounds the audience with her potent interpretation of Jwala Bhai, holding their attention with her captivating performance.

The Rudrangi Movie performances are uneven. However, Ashish Gandhi’s performance falls short since it lacks the intensity and power necessary to hold the audience’s attention. Ganavi Laxman, Vimala Raman, and Kalakeya Prabhakar are among the supporting actors who fall flat.

Plus Points

It can be claimed without a shadow of a doubt that Jagapathi Babu is the star of the show. The actor provided an exceptional performance that would be remembered for a very long time by viewers after getting under the skin of Bheem Rao’s character.

In the part of the villain, he is merciless, intimidating, and stunning. For his character, a fresh mannerism was created, and Jagapathi Babu just about nailed it. In numerous scenes, his performance was deserving of applause.

Ashish Gandhi was cast in a fantastic part and delivered an honest performance. It’s too good the way he rebels against Jagapathi Babu and expresses his rage. The second half is entirely focused on the character played by Ganavi Laxmi, who did a great job in her role. In her small position, Vimala Raman does admirably.

In her role as Jwala Bhai, Mamta Mohandas excelled. Every time she appeared, she ignited the screens with her ferocious performance, and the interval block in particular provided an adrenaline rush. The pace was quick and the first half was decent. The first hour had several exciting moments.

Minus Points

Although the first half was excellent, the second half lacked drive. Despite the presence of the movie’s main topic, “Battle for self-respect,” there aren’t many exciting moments, which is a huge disappointment. Additionally, the rhythm slows down in the second half, giving the impression that the film is drawn out.

The conclusion could have come a little bit sooner. The film’s emotional parts were only passable, but they could have been presented in a better way to give the picture more cohesion. One wishes to see more of Mamta Mohandas after the first half, which was excellent. But regrettably, she has had a minor role the entire second half.

Technical Aspects

The sets accurately depict the bygone age thanks to the excellent work of the production design team. Santosh Shanamoni’s videography and Aayesha Mariam’s outfits are both exceptional. The music of Ais Nawal Raja is ok. The production qualities are excellent, and the editing is passable.

Ajay Samrat, the filmmaker, did a passable job with Rudrangi. He has written Bheem Rao in an excellent manner, and the casting choice was perfect. Ajay maintains his point throughout, although, after a strong first hour, the second half was somewhat lackluster. The action blocks and the emotions weren’t very strong.

Overall, Rudrangi is a historical play that aims to draw attention to the problem of tyranny. Although the first half is passable, the second half is subpar, which lessens the impact. Although Jagapathi Babu and Ashish Gandhi excel in their roles, the portrayal of the emotions was lacking. In the second half, Mamta Mohandas’ involvement is diminished. So Rudrangi turns out to be a passable movie to watch this weekend.

కథేంటంటే: ప్రేమించి, పెళ్లి చేసుకున్న భార్య జెన్నీఫర్‌(అనుపమ పరమేశ్వరన్‌)ను హత్య చేసిన కేసులో అంబులెన్స్‌ డ్రైవర్‌ తిలక్‌ (జయం రవి) జైలుకు వెళ్తాడు. తల్లి చనిపోవడం, తండ్రి జైలుకు వెళ్లడంతో తిలక్‌ కూతురును అతడి అక్క పెంచుతుంది. ‘ఖైదీ కూతురు’ అని అందరూ ఎగతాళి చేస్తుండటంతో చిన్నతనం నుంచి తండ్రి తిలక్‌ అంటే ఆమెకు అస్సలు ఇష్టం ఉండదు. పెరోల్‌పై వచ్చేందుకు అవకాశం ఉన్నా, తిలక్‌ జైలు నుంచి బయటకురాడు. అయితే, అతడి మంచితనం నచ్చి, కూతురిని చూసి రమ్మంటూ జైలు సూపరింటెండెంట్‌ సలహా ఇస్తాడు. తిలక్‌ పెరోల్‌పై బయటకు వచ్చినప్పుడల్లా నగరంలో హత్యలు జరుగుతాయి. ఈ హత్య కేసులను విచారణ చేసే బాధ్యత పోలీస్‌ ఆఫీసర్‌ నందిని (కీర్తి సురేశ్‌)కి అప్పగిస్తుంది డిపార్ట్‌మెంట్‌. తిలక్‌పై అనుమానం వచ్చిన నందిని.. అతడే నిందితుడు అంటూ అదుపులోకి తీసుకుంటుంది. అయితే, సరైన ఆధారాలు దొరక్క విడిచిపెడుతూ ఉంటుంది. మరి విచారణలో పోలీస్‌ ఆఫీసర్‌ నందినికి తెలిసిన నిజాలు ఏంటి? జెన్నీఫర్‌ను హత్య చేసింది ఎవరు? ఐపీఎస్ ఆఫీస‌ర్ నాగ‌లింగంపై (స‌ముద్ర‌ఖ‌ని) తిలక్‌ పగకు కారణం ఏంటి? చివరకు తిలక్‌ కూతురు అతడికి దగ్గరైందా? తెలియాలంటే సినిమా చూడాల్సిందే!

ఎలా ఉందంటే: ప్రాణం కన్నా మిన్నగా ప్రేమించిన వారిని కోల్పోవడం.. చేయని తప్పునకు జైలు శిక్ష అనుభవించడం.. జైలు జీవితం గడిపి బయటకు వచ్చిన తర్వాత తన జీవితాన్ని చిన్నాభిన్నం చేసిన వారిపై కథానాయకుడు పగ తీర్చుకోవడం..  ఈ ఫార్మాట్‌లో కొన్ని వందల సినిమాలు వచ్చాయి. సైరెన్‌ కూడా ఆ బాపతు చిత్రమే. అయితే, కథనంపరంగా జాగ్రత్తలు తీసుకుని, ప్రేక్షకుడికి కనెక్ట్‌ అయ్యేలా మూవీ తీయడంలో మాత్రం దర్శకుడు ఆంటోనీ భాగ్యరాజ్‌ విజయం సాధించారు. జైలు జీవితాన్ని గడుపుతున్న తిలక్‌ కథను ఒకవైపు చూపిస్తూనే, పవర్‌ఫుల్‌ పోలీస్‌ ఆఫీసర్‌గా కీర్తి సురేశ్‌ను మరోవైపు చూపిస్తూ రెండు పాత్రలకు సమ ప్రాధాన్యం ఇస్తూ కథను మొదలుపెట్టాడు దర్శకుడు. ఎప్పుడైతే తిలక్‌ పెరోల్‌పై బయటకు వచ్చాడో అప్పుడే ప్రముఖ రాజకీయ నాయకుడు హత్యకు గురవడం కలకలం రేగుతుంది. అలాగే మరొకరి హత్యా జరుగుతుంది. ఇవన్నీ పగ తీర్చుకోవడంలో భాగంగా కథనాయకుడు చేస్తున్నాడన్న సంగతి సినిమా చూస్తున్న ప్రేక్షకుడికి అర్థమవుతున్నా కానీ, ఎందుకు హత్యలు చేస్తున్నాడన్న హుక్‌ పాయింట్‌ వెంటాడుతుండటంతో మూవీ ఎక్కడా విసుగ్గా అనిపించకుండా దర్శకుడు స్క్రీన్‌ప్లేతో మేజిక్‌ చేశాడు. ద్వితీయార్ధం కూడా హత్య ఇన్వెస్టిగేషన్‌ చుట్టూనే తిరుగుతున్నా, విచారణ అంతా రొటీన్‌గా ఉండటం కాస్త మైనస్‌. చాలా సన్నివేశాలు లాజిక్‌కు దూరంగా నడుస్తూ ఉంటాయి. సీరియస్‌ టోన్‌లో నడుస్తున్న మూవీకి మధ్య మధ్యలో యోగిబాబు కామెడీ కాస్త రిలీఫ్‌. ఒక ఎమోషనల్‌ డ్రామాతో సినిమాను ముగించిన తీరు బాగుంది.

ఎవరెలా చేశారంటే: మధ్య వయస్కుడిగా తిలక్‌ పాత్రలో జయం రవి తనదైన నటన కనబరిచారు. కథ, పాత్రకు ఎంత అవసరమో అదే స్థాయిలో నటించారు. కీర్తి సురేశ్‌ పాత్ర కాస్త అతిగా అనిపిస్తుంది. పవర్‌ఫుల్‌ ఆఫీసర్‌గా చూపించాలనుకున్నారు కానీ, తెరపై ఆ ప్రభావం కనిపించలేదు. మిగిలిన వాళ్లు తమ పరిధి మేరకు నటించారు. సాంకేతికంగా సినిమా ఓకే. నిడివి విషయంలో ఇంకాస్త జాగ్రత్త తీసుకుని ఉంటే బాగుండేది. దర్శకుడు ఆంటోనీ భాగ్యరాజ్‌ ఎంచుకున్న కథ కొత్తది కాకపోయినా, ప్రజెంట్‌ చేసిన విధానం బాగుంది. రివేంజ్‌ డ్రామాతో పాటు, కుల వ్యవస్థను కూడా ప్రశ్నించే ప్రయత్నం చేశారు.

కుటుంబంతో కలిసి చూడొచ్చా: ఎలాంటి ఇబ్బంది లేకుండా చూడొచ్చు. అసభ్య సన్నివేశాలు, పదజాలం ఎక్కడా లేదు. డిస్నీ+హాట్‌స్టార్‌లో తెలుగులోనూ అందుబాటులో ఉంది.
