Speech on Soil Pollution

We know about Air Pollution, Water Pollution, and Noise Pollution. But do we know about Soil Pollution? What is soil pollution? How is it caused? What are the contaminants those pollute the soil? Perhaps, not all of it and it does require the serious implementation of measures to keep a check on its rising intensity. It, therefore, becomes important to spread awareness about soil pollution so that we can prevent it from further happening. Keeping this in mind, the Speeches on Soil Pollution has been comprehensively covered interestingly in the form of sub-points and highlighters.

Sample Speech on Soil Pollution for Students

Soil pollution speech 1 (400 words, 4 minutes speech).

Good Evening Dear All – How you all are doing? I Hope this day finds you in the best of spirit!

I – Avinash Mishra, the secretary of Nature’s Club, welcome everyone to the speech giving ceremony. The speech topic for today is Soil Pollution. The reason why I chose this subject matter is that everyone talks about air pollution, water pollution, and noise pollution whereas soil pollution demands equal concern and attention as the soil is the very fundamental thing in which the crops grow. If that very fundamental thing is polluted how can we expect a healthy crop? Therefore, it should be given equal concern and concrete measures should be adopted to prevent the pollution of soil.

But, before I go on to further talk about soil pollution, I want to ask how many of us really know what soil is? What it consists of? Well if not many of you know the answer here I give you a brief explanation!

Soil, even when in its natural form contains contaminants those are found naturally. Some common examples of naturally found soil contaminants are lead, pesticides, asbestos etc. Most of the natural contaminants are found due to biological breakdown or decomposition of plants and animals.

Besides, several other compounds enter into the soil from the surroundings, such as from the precipitation of water, wind activity as well as other types of disturbances in soil. Then there are surface-level groundwater or water bodies that keep flowing in the soil. When the concentration of soil contaminants go beyond the acceptable limit, then pollution is generated.

Now, about the two main causes of soil pollution – the first is, of course, the natural cause and the other is the man-made (also called the anthropogenic) cause.

While natural causes lead to the concentration of the poisonous chemicals in the soil in the arid environment; the man-made causes are the inappropriate disposal of urban or industrial waste, pesticides used in agriculture or due to industrial activities. Now the question that arises is who is more susceptible to soil pollution? Soil pollution usually affects every living species more or less, i.e. humans, plants and animals.

So while each one of us becomes prone to this type of pollution, children, in particular, are usually more likely to get infected by it because they are often out in the playground. It, therefore, becomes important to test the soil type where your child is going to play, especially when you live in an industrialized place.

Thus the point I want to make here is that soil pollution can be equally dangerous and can cause several diseases, such as damage to your kidney and liver, headache, rashes in the skin, irritation in your eyes, fatigue, nausea, and neuromuscular damage.

This is all from my side, thank you for being such a wonderful audience!

Soil Pollution Speech – 2 (500 Words, 5 Minutes Speech)

Respected Principal, Vice Principal, Teachers and My Dear Friends – Warm Greetings to one and all!

I – Sarita Chhabra, the school head and the student of Class-X (A) – would like to welcome everyone to the auditorium and felicitate our Principal as well as Vice Principal for organizing such awareness programs and allowing the students to remain active at every front to enable their overall growth and development.

Today as I stand here, I would like to deliver a Speech on Soil Pollution with the due permission of everyone. Yes friends, you heard it right, my speech topic is Soil Pollution. So much has already been said and talked about Air Pollution, Water Pollution, and Noise Pollution that another area of concern, i.e. Soil Pollution seems to have been overlooked by most of us. However, this form of pollution is equally dangerous as it has a direct bearing on our lifestyle, particularly the food that we eat.

Soil pollution is caused by both contaminants as well as pollutants. When it comes to pollutants, the major ones are the biological agents along with some caused by human activities whereas soil contaminants are all a part and parcel of soil pollutants that infect the soil. As we all know that one of the major causes of soil pollution is agricultural practices – it plagues the crops with pesticide chemicals. Then there are industrial or urban wastes and the most dangerous radioactive emissions which lead to the contamination of soil with various toxic elements.

There are 5 types of Soil Pollutants, which we all should know so that we can try and evade those reasons, if not all but some of it:

  • Biological Agents
  • Industrial Waste
  • Agricultural Practices
  • Urban Waste
  • Radioactive Pollutants

Now let’s understand them one by one:

Biological agents are present within the soil in order to make it blend with manure as well as digested sludge (that comes from the animal, bird and human excreta) into the soil. Secondly, the industrial waste which comes from the oil refineries, paper mill, petroleum and sugar factories that produce textile, steel, petroleum, cement, glass, drug and pesticides.

Thirdly, the agricultural practices which cause soil pollution to a great extent by making use of such elements as fertilizers, pesticides, manure, debris, slurry and herbicides  Fourth factor that is responsible is the Urban Waste, which consists of rubbish material and garbage, sewage coming from our houses and several industries, including the dried sludge. Fifth and the last are the radioactive elements, namely Thorium, Radium, Uranium, and others which can enter into the soil and result in toxic effects.

And friends our farmers sow the crops in the soil, imagine if that very soil is polluted or contaminated would we be able to lead a healthy life on this planet – certainly not! It, therefore, becomes our responsibility to preserve our every natural resource – be it soil.

With this, I rest my speech – thank you, everyone!

Soil Pollution Speech – 3 (500 Words, 5 Minutes Speech)

Good Morning Ladies and Gentleman – How you all are doing? I Hope this day finds you in the best of spirit!

As we know that The ABC Organization has been contributing its efforts towards preserving the environment, one of the serious issues which we have come across is the poor quality of the soil. This is the reason why we have called upon this committee to discuss and find out ways with which we can prevent further erosion and contamination of soil. This brings me to research around this issue and analyze the severity of the condition.

So now let’s understand in brief what Soil Pollution is and how it is caused!  With the ever-increasing number of concrete buildings and the roads, one part of our Earth that is clearly visible is, of course, the soil. We can give several names to it, such as mud, dirt, and ground, but it is really very vital for us. How? Let’s understand! The plants and trees where fruits and vegetables grow take their lives from soil; it, therefore, becomes very important to preserve its quality.

Unfortunately, just like other forms of nature that become polluted, the soil is also not left untouched. Soil pollution has become a common phenomenon these days and it happens mainly because of human intervention. The chief reason behind the contamination of soil is because of the littering of the man-made waste. The waste that nature generates such as decayed fruits and vegetables, animal carcasses and dead plants only increases the fertility of the soil. On the other hand, the waste generated by us is full of chemicals that are not derived from nature and thus cause soil pollution.

It is quite obvious that the pollution of soil will affect our health, but it also causes a huge imbalance in our ecology. The ecological balance gets disturbed because of the extensive contamination of soil. Do you know that there are various plants which cannot adapt to the changing chemistry of the soil as swiftly as some plants do? Bacteria and fungi present in the soil that keep it intact begin to fall apart, which accelerates the issue of soil erosion.

The fertility gradually gets deteriorated, making our land unfit for agricultural practices and any form of local vegetation to thrive. Soil pollution makes big tracts of land dangerous for our lives. It’s not like deserts that are appropriate for the native vegetation, such lands as these cannot support the life forms.

With the increasing pollution and population, the quality of soil is deteriorating and it becomes our responsibility to look into the matter and suggest to our government some concrete measures otherwise the crops would die soon and whatever cultivation would occur will be unfit for human health and could be life-threatening as well.

This is all from my side, now may I please call upon stage our respected Chairman Shri ……..to say a few words in this regard.

Thank You for your patience!

Soil Pollution Speech – 4 (500 Words, 5 Minutes Speech)

Esteemed Guest of Honor, Respected Principal, Vice Principal, Teachers and My Dear Friends – Warm Welcome to Everyone!

I, Sakshi Tanwar from Class – XII (B), would like to extend a note of thank you on behalf of the entire school for taking your precious time out and gracing our function with your presence. We are extremely glad to have you here and I sincerely wish you have a great time with us. Before we kick start this ceremony, I would like to call on stage our esteemed guest of honor and our hon’ble principal to kindly felicitate our guest with a bouquet and a memento.

Now, let’s kick start the ceremony! Friends as we all know that our school has participated in Clean Delhi, Green Delhi Drive, which is going on successfully. However, recently the survey group has come across yet another challenge while understanding the different kinds of pollution; it is the growing contamination of soil. However, it is not been given due attention in recent times. We need to address this issue and take some concrete steps to evade this problem.

Now, let’s understand about soil pollution, how soil gets polluted and what are the pollutants?

Soil pollution comes under land degradation and is caused by such man-made chemicals as Xenobiotics. Soil Pollution is also caused by certain natural factors, changes that take place in our nature; but man-made pollution is much more dangerous than the natural pollutants as it can prove fatal for us. Soil pollution is largely caused by industrial activities, then from the chemicals that run out of agricultural farms and fields and lastly from the improper dispersal of waste. The most common types of chemicals are:

  • Polynuclear Aromatic Hydrocarbons (like benzo(a)pyrene and naphthalene)
  • Petroleum Hydrocarbons
  • Heavy Metals
  • Including other heavy metals

The larger will be the scale of industrialization and greater the intensity of toxic substance, more will be the level of contamination. Why we should pay serious heed to soil contamination is because it causes severe health risks if we come in direct contact with the contaminated soil.

It’s a tedious process to survey the sites of the contaminated lands and huge money will go into cleaning the lands. It will require an extensive level of:

  • Skills – based on Computer Modeling

While also appreciating the working mechanics of our industries, we should seek to find a balance between nature and our man-made activities. Neither of the two should overpower each other because if that happens the balance will be lost and we may have to face the serious repercussions. As we have seen that we exploit nature too much, we also incur its wrath in the form of a tsunami, situation of drought, etc.

And the damage caused by the natural havoc is irreparable. It, therefore, becomes extremely important in the ever increasing age of industrialization to ensure the safety of our nature.

This is all from my side, thank you!

Speech on Land Pollution

Land pollution is a serious issue that affects our planet. It’s when harmful substances like trash and chemicals damage the earth’s surface. You might see it as litter on the streets or waste dumped in fields.

This problem harms our environment and health. It’s vital for everyone, including you, to understand and address this issue. By learning more, you can help make a positive change.

1-minute Speech on Land Pollution

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Land pollution is a problem we all need to understand. Simply put, it’s when harmful things are added to the earth’s soil. These harmful things can be garbage, chemicals, or even old machines and cars. This is a problem because these things can hurt plants, animals, and even us!

Have you seen a garbage dump? It’s filled with plastic, metal, paper, and food waste. This is a big part of land pollution. When we don’t recycle or compost these things, we are hurting our planet. Imagine if your backyard was filled with garbage. Would you like it? No, right? Just like us, plants and animals don’t like living in dirty places.

Factories and farms can also cause land pollution. Factories often produce harmful chemicals and waste. If not handled properly, they can seep into the soil. Farms use pesticides and fertilizers. These can hurt the soil too. They kill bugs and weed but can also harm good bugs and plants.

Now, you might ask, what can we do? The answer is simple. Reduce, reuse, recycle. Reduce means using less. Less plastic, less paper. Reuse means using things more than once. A shopping bag can be used many times. Recycle means turning waste into something new. Paper can be made into new paper.

In conclusion, land pollution is a big problem but we can all help solve it. By reducing, reusing, and recycling, we can keep our earth clean. So, let’s do our part and take care of our planet. Remember, it’s the only one we’ve got! Thank you.

2-minute Speech on Land Pollution

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, we stand here today to talk about a problem that’s right beneath our feet – land pollution. When we throw away things that we don’t need anymore, they don’t just vanish. They pile up on our Earth, making it dirty and unhealthy. This is what we call land pollution.

Our first point is about what causes land pollution. There are many things that contribute, but let’s focus on a few important ones. Trash from our homes, like plastic bags, bottles, and food waste, is a big part of the problem. Then, there are factories that produce lots of waste. If they don’t dispose of it properly, it ends up polluting the land. Construction sites also contribute by clearing land and not cleaning up properly.

Now, let’s talk about why land pollution is bad. For one, it destroys homes for animals and plants. Imagine if someone threw a bunch of trash into your house and left it there! You wouldn’t have any space to live. That’s how animals and plants feel when their homes get polluted. Moreover, land pollution can also make people sick. When garbage rots, it releases harmful gases. If we breathe these in, we can get all sorts of health problems.

Next, we must ask ourselves, “What can we do to stop land pollution?” The good news is, we can all help! First, we should reduce the amount of waste we produce. This could mean using a reusable water bottle instead of buying a new one each time. Second, we should reuse things as much as possible. For example, we can use both sides of a piece of paper before throwing it away. Finally, we should recycle. When we recycle, we give our trash a new life instead of letting it pollute the land.

Of course, these are just small steps. We also need big changes from our leaders and businesses. They must make sure factories and construction sites handle their waste properly. They should encourage everyone to recycle and reduce the amount of trash we create.

To wrap up, land pollution is a serious issue that affects all of us. It’s caused by many things, including our own trash, waste from factories, and debris from construction sites. It hurts animals, plants, and can even make people sick. But remember, we can all help fight land pollution. By reducing, reusing, and recycling, we can make a big difference. Let’s all work together to keep our Earth clean!

Thank you for your attention. Let’s take care of our land, for ourselves, for the creatures we share it with and for the generations yet to come.

Speech on Pollution for Students and Children

3 minute speech on pollution for students.

Pollution has become one of the most concerning issues for our planet and mankind. It takes place when pollutants contaminate our environment. In other words, pollution is responsible for disturbing the balance of the ecosystem. Moreover, it impacts our lifestyle severely and also contributes greatly to global warming. As the world is getting more modern, pollution is also enhancing day by day. It’s like we are the prisoners of our own creations. Further, it has become rather essential to learn about the causes, types, and impact of pollution to deal with this problem.

3 minute speech on pollution

Causes and Impact of Pollution

Think about it yourself and wonder how you contribute to pollution. As there isn’t just one person, organization or government to blame, but all of us. Moreover, pollution comes in different forms. To begin with, we have air pollution which means contamination of air. It is a very dangerous kind of pollution and which chemically and physically alters the air.

When toxic gases enter the atmosphere, life becomes difficult for human beings. The burning of fossil fuels, mining, automobile exhausts, and more contribute to it. Thus, it causes acid rains, respiratory problems, global warming and more.

Next up, water pollution is on the rise like anything. The industrial waste, sewage, wastewater, oil spills, and more contribute to it. Further, the impact is very deadly as we cannot survive without water. The water needed for drinking, cooking, agriculture and more is declining day by day.

Further, we have soil pollution where contaminants and toxic chemicals hamper the quality of our soil. Soil pollution has a very negative impact, especially on wildlife and vegetation. In addition to human life and groundwater are also severely damaged. Improper waste disposal, industrial activities, acid rains and more contribute to soil pollution.

Thus, it can contaminate the health of human beings. Moreover, it impacts the growth of plants as it decreases the fertility of the soil. Moreover, it also alters the structure of the soil due to pollution.

How to Curb Pollution?

As pollution impacts our lives negatively, we need to find out ways to curb it and implement them immediately. It does not only degrade the life of humans but also animals and vegetation. We must all begin by adopting conservation approaches and sustainable strategies. It is important more than ever to restore the ecological balance.

We need to bring a change in our transportation choices. Begin with opting for public transportation instead of a private one. Try to carpool or walk and ride bikes to places. Further, we must also make sustainable food choices. Local and organic produce is the way to go.

Furthermore, the little things will go a long way. For instance, switching off the lights and fans when not in use. Unplugging electrical appliances and using energy-efficient appliances.

Moreover, we must also practice recycling and reducing waste production.  Do not use plastic and carry your own cloth or plastic bags when shopping. Use glass containers for storage instead of plastic ones. Further, conserve water at all times. Fix any leakages if present and do not use hot water unnecessarily.

To sum it up, we see that the change begins with us. You don’t have to bank on the government or the industries to curb pollution, as we all contribute to it. We need to control pollution so as to create a healthy future for our upcoming generations. Every person on this earth has a great role to play in restoring the balance of the earth. Educate the public about menacing issues and protect the earth from degrading.

Pollution Speech in English

Pollution is one of the greatest challenges the world is facing today. It is the introduction of harmful pollutants in the environment that degrades the quality of air, water, and soil. As human civilization progressed, we invented machines and products that can ease our life. During this process, we exploited nature, and started polluting it. We are in a time of crisis where the glaciers in Antarctica are melting due to global warming.

Pollution not only affects the environment but also introduces diseases that could kill all living organisms. Toxic chemicals released in water have killed aquatic life and also reduced the quality of water. Toxic gasses released in the air cause different lung diseases such as asthma etc. More and more legislative acts are passed to control pollution and it has been adopted by governments all around the world. However, only legislative acts and protocols cannot help in controlling the pollution as it is the duty of every individual to act on his or her own to control pollution. It is also very important that children from an early age should be educated about pollution and the effect it has on the environment and their future.

Here we have provided a long and short speech on pollution and along with that we have also given 10 line pointers about the pollution speech in English.

Long Speech on Pollution

Good morning everyone present over here today. I feel honored to be selected to give a speech on pollution. In this speech, I will try my best to explain to you all what pollution is, its effects, and how it can be controlled.

Pollution is the presence of harmful contaminants in the natural environment that cause harm and damage and leads to adverse changes. Before blaming someone else for the pollution let us as a generation self analyze ourselves. There is no one, in particular, we can blame for the increase in pollution except humankind. We, humans, are responsible for the exponential increase of pollution in the environment. Throughout centuries as our civilization progressed and found new ways to earn, learn and develop we have exploited mother nature in a bigger way. The harmful substances and the effluents released into the atmosphere by the factories, industries, and household waste have made an impact in contaminating the environment.

As we all know there are three kinds of pollution and those are air, water, and soil pollution. Air pollution is mostly caused due to the presence of harmful substances and contaminants in the air. These harmful gasses are released by vehicles, dust, dirt, and poisonous gasses from the manufacturing factories. The use of vehicles or the products made at factories may make our lives easy but it also has caused a lot of effects on the environment. The harmful gasses released from vehicles and factories cause a lot of respiratory diseases such as asthma, bronchitis, etc. The harmful pollutants in the air can cause the ozone layer to deplete which leads to the ultraviolet rays entering the earth’s atmosphere which can cause serious health problems, even cancer. Radioactive pollution is a product of air pollution that has a serious effect on living organisms. Some of the harmful effects of Radioactive pollution are skin cancer, burning of the skin, etc.

Water pollution is caused when toxic substances get mixed in water bodies such as rivers, lakes, and oceans. The toxic substances could be chemical fertilizers from the agricultural field or the poisonous Industrial waste, sewage water. marine dumping etc. This waste generated from different sources is directly drained into the large water bodies which get mixed in the drinking water and causes water pollution. The toxics that get mixed with water bodies have bacteria, germs, etc that can be life-threatening to all living organisms. Due to water pollution, the amount of drinking water is reducing every day which is causing a lot of problems for everyone.  Similarly, soil pollution is the contamination of the soil with toxic pollutants. The toxic substances could be the chemicals present in fertilizers, pesticides, and industrial chemicals.

Though we receive the benefits of using the products from industries knowingly and unknowingly we are the reason for exploiting the earth. We overuse the resources provided by mother nature and then are so careless to not think about the future. One example of overuse of the resources of nature is the use of fertilizers to increase the production of crops. Though there is an increase in the production of crops due to fertilizers it has also become the reason for land and water pollution due to the presence of the chemicals in the fertilizers. We can also give the example of Industries to get us products that ease our life but the toxic gasses released from the factories are destroying the Earth.

So how can we correct things? how can we make sure that we don’t exploit nature?. As a community, it is our sole responsibility to fight against pollution by using eco-friendly things instead of using the non-biodegradable substances. Pollution of any kind cannot be eliminated completely but it can be controlled. We can overcome pollution by taking small measures in our day-to-day lives. We should be aware of small preventive measures that could help in controlling pollution. Do not throw domestic waste near the water bodies, instead throw the garbage at the garbage disposal site. Avoid using vehicles as it causes pollution. Carpooling and bike pooling are the best methods of reducing the usage of many vehicles, electric cars and bikes could be used instead of the vehicles which run on petrol and diesel.

To conclude this speech I want to say that every kind of pollution has a negative impact on the environment, animals and human lives. We as humans should take important steps for a better future. A lot of innocent lives are put in danger because of pollution so we should take part in an initiative to fight and control this problem. Together we can control pollution. Thank you for listening.

Short Speech on Pollution

Good morning to everyone present here today. I am honored to be here and to be given the opportunity to speak about the rising problem of our generation which has been a concern for many for over a decade, that is pollution. Pollution is the contamination of the environment by the introduction of harmful pollutants in it. Pollution has three types which are air pollution, water pollution, and soil pollution. We all know what these types of pollutants are and the pollutants that cause it so  I will keep the speech short and not take much of anyone’s time. Thus I will not go into a detailed explanation about all the types of pollution and their effects because by this time I assume everyone knows about it.

In this speech on pollution, I will talk about our responsibility to save the environment and how we can save the future. Firstly I want to make it clear that pollution of any type cannot be completely eliminated but it can be controlled. It is our responsibility to take small steps to control pollution such as not throwing domestic waste near water bodies such as rivers, lakes, etc. Domestic waste is considered to be the major reason for water pollution so it is your sole responsibility to take care of the domestic waste. Throw it to the nearest garbage disposal site. Secondly, it is very important to use electric vehicles instead of the usual ones which consume petrol and diesel. Carpooling and bike pooling options could be considered to reduce the use of vehicles which will, in turn, reduce air pollution. All parents should educate children about pollution and its effect on the environment. This step is very important as it creates a sense of care and awareness in the mind of children to take care of the environment. It is high time to take any action and put a ban on the usage of a different carcinogenic compound such as polymers. To conclude I want to say that it is our responsibility to control the pollution and save the future or else we all are going to pay for it. Thank you for listening.

10 Lines Pollution Speech in English

Pollution can be defined as the introduction of harmful substances in the environment.

The harmful substances are called pollutants. Pollutants could be natural such as gasses released from volcanic eruptions.

Pollutants could also be man-made such as the trash from the domestic waste or the harmful chemicals from the industries.

Pollutants damage the quality of air, water, and soil and thus it causes water, air, and soil pollution.

Water pollution can decrease the quality of drinking water which in modern times has caused a lot of problems for everyone as there is very less drinking water available.

Air pollution can cause many respiratory diseases such as asthma, bronchitis, etc. Air pollution also causes smog which is not good for anyone.

It is the responsibility of every parent to teach their child about pollution and the effect it can have on the environment.

Pollution of any type cannot be completely eliminated but it can be controlled if we take important steps.

Pollution was created by the human race so it is our responsibility to control it.

The use of Electric vehicles instead of the usual vehicles that run on fuel could help in reducing air pollution. Taking small steps slowly is better than not taking any steps at all to control pollution.

Key points to remember about pollution

Pollution is caused by many harmful things in the environment. It contaminated our earth and because of it, there are other global problems that are increasing. Because of pollution, people are also affected with many illnesses and this can stop only if we take some measures to stop pollution or atleast to put some effort into reducing it. Many harmful usage of products like plastic and thermocol are also the causes of pollution. The types of pollution are: -

Air pollution.

Water pollution.

Soil pollution.

Radioactive pollution.

Noise pollution.

Air pollution is caused by the release of harmful chemicals, contaminants like toxic gasses in the earth environment. These harmful gasses cause dangerous health issues. Water pollution occurs when these harmful chemicals or contaminants are released in the water body. Because of these water animals like fishes and sharks lose their life very frequently and lead to a biological imbalance. Soil pollution is the degradation of land because of harmful chemicals that are released into the soil for reasons like gardening and so on. Some causes of soil pollution are: -

Industrial Activity

Agricultural Activities

Waste Disposal

Accidental Oil Spills

Radioactive pollution on the other hand means that harmful chemicals or elements that are released because of radioactive activities. Noise pollution is caused when an excessive amount of noise is released in the atmosphere that disrupts the natural balance of the earth.

What does pollution affect?

Pollution affects everyone. There are many kinds of pollution and when one or many pollutants are released in the air, then it causes great harm to the global environment. People are not the only creatures who suffer from pollution, many water body animals, and land animals are also affected and even the flora and fauna of the world is negatively impacted. Although the harm of pollution is immediately noticed only in the close by areas, it has a long-lasting negative impact on the entire world. This is also one of the reasons why climate change is in an unavoidable increase. If people take steps to reduce all kinds of pollution, then it will be possible to bring back the balance of the environment.

There are mainly six types of environmental pollution and they are air pollution, water pollution, soil pollution, noise pollution, thermal pollution, and radioactive pollution.

Air pollution can be defined as the mixing of external harmful gases and particles in the atmosphere. It is caused by the release of contaminants like toxic gases, chemicals, and other particulate matter. The impact of air pollution can be severe; it varies from person to person. Air pollution impoverishes our lives by causing global warming, acid rain, ozone depletion and increasing the risk of cancer, respiratory diseases, skin diseases, etc.

Water pollution is caused by the illogical waste management of human beings. Contaminants are introduced into the water bodies by human activities like disposing of untreated industrial sewages, agricultural runoffs with fertilisers and pesticides, dumping of solid wastes, etc. Water pollution is a great threat to marine life. Disrupting marine life affects our food cycle and damages our ecosystem.

The contamination of soil due to the presence of chemicals or other harmful particles is called soil pollution. It, directly and indirectly, affects our lives. Excessive use of chemicals like pesticides and fertilisers for agricultural production, mining, improper waste disposal, and acid rain are some of the major causes of soil pollution. As a result of soil pollution, the soil loses its fertility and deteriorates natural vegetation. It adversely affects the organisms residing in the soil, degrades agricultural productivity, and even results in famine.

Noise pollution is caused by the excessive amounts of noise in our environment. Noise pollution is generally man-made, and it badly affects the natural balance of our ecosystem. Any sound which is over 85 decibels is harmful to human health. Due to globalisation and industrialisation, the level of noise pollution in our environment has increased drastically. Some of the main contributors to noise pollution are machinery used in industries, noise emitted by vehicles, sounds produced during construction work, noise during public festivals and social events, etc. Noise pollution has become a major issue for many developed and developing nations. As a consequence, people are facing sleeping disorders, hearing loss, hypertension, stress-related illnesses, etc.

Thermal pollution is caused by the sudden increase or decrease of the temperature of a natural body of water. Industrial machinery and power plants are the major contributors to thermal pollution. For the process of cooling machinery, water from nature is collected and used. But after this mechanism, the temperature of the water gets altered. By pumping back the water, the thermal balance of the natural source of water becomes affected and results in thermal pollution. It changes the oxygen level and destroys ecosystems.

The pollution caused by the release of radioactive substances into the environment during nuclear explosions, nuclear weapon production and decommissioning, mining of radioactive ores, and disposal of radioactive wastes are called radioactive pollution.

All this pollution has had a great impact on our lives. Many environmental catastrophes like global warming, acid rain, famine, drought, earthquakes, etc., are the returns given to us by earth for our greed. If we continue to pollute, then be ready to face the end.

Environmental pollution is one of the most troubling global issues. It is caused by the harmful effect of pollutants that are discharged into the environment by the irrational actions of human beings. The actions of such pollutants badly affect our environment and transform it into an unhealthy place to live. Environmental pollution can be stated as the unfavourable alteration of our environment with severe long term consequences. Improper waste management, exploitation of natural resources, and urban-industrial technological revolutions are considered some of the main causes for environmental pollution.

Environmental pollution is a global issue, and it is not at all a new term to any of us. The phenomenon has been here for many decades, but the solution still remains obscure. The wheel of time is spinning over human beings and nature. Nature will always find its way to survive, and it’s our only hope. Like the words of John James Audubon, “A true conservationist is a man who knows that his fathers do not give the world, but borrowed from his children”, let’s realise that the conservation of our environment is never a choice but an urgency for our future.

The aftereffects of environmental pollution are intolerable. It results in the loss of vegetation, irregular functioning of the ecosystem, loss of biodiversity, and poses a threat to human life. Any pollution that brings undesirable changes to the environment can be listed as environmental pollution. The types of pollution vary depending on the nature and the component on which the pollutant marks its effect.

Nitrogen oxide, sulphur oxide, mercury, CFC (Chlorofluorocarbon), particulate matter, and volatile organic compounds are some of the harmful pollutants that cause environmental pollution.

  • “Environmental pollution is an incurable disease. It can only be prevented.” – Barry Commoner.
  • “Sooner or later, we will have to recognise that the Earth has rights, too, to live without pollution. What mankind must know is that human beings cannot live without Mother Earth, but the planet can live without humans.” – Evo Morales.
  • “Where the quality of life goes down for the environment, the quality of life goes down for humans.” – George Holland.
  • “Earth provides enough to satisfy every man’s needs, but not every man’s greed.” – Mahatma Gandhi.
  • “The only way forward, if we are going to improve the quality of the environment, is to get everybody involved.” – Richard Rogers.
  • “Water and air, the two essential fluids on which all life depends, have become global garbage cans.” – Jacques Yves Cousteau.
  • “Pollution is nothing but the resources we are not harvesting. We allow them to be dispersed because we’ve been ignorant of their value.” – R. Buckminster Fuller.
  • “Pollution is a serious one: water pollution, air pollution, and then solid hazardous waste pollution. And then, beyond that, we also have the resources issue. Not just water resources but other natural resources, the mining resources being consumed, and the destruction of our ecosystem.” – Ma Jun.
  • “We abuse land because we regard it as a commodity belonging to us. When we see land as a community to which we belong, we may begin to use it with love and respect.” – Aldo Leopold.
  • “The ecological crisis is doing what no other crisis in history has ever done — challenging us to a realisation of a new humanity.” – Jean Houston.

What is environmental pollution, and what are the main pollutants?

Environmental pollution can be stated as the unfavourable alteration of our environment with severe long term consequences. It is caused by the harmful effect of pollutants that are discharged into the environment by the irrational actions of human beings. Any pollution that brings undesirable changes to the environment can be listed as environmental pollution. Nitrogen oxide, sulphur oxide, mercury, CFC (Chlorofluorocarbon), particulate matter, and volatile organic compounds are some of the harmful pollutants that cause environmental pollution.

What is pollution?

Pollution can be defined as the introduction of unwanted harmful substances into the earth that brings adverse effects on the environment and living organisms. It destroys the ecological balance. Speech on Pollution

Speech on Pollution : Any unwanted substance present in the environment that contaminates our natural resources causes pollution. Such substances are known as pollutants. Today, pollution has become an existential problem for every living being on earth. Every country, every region, and every community is facing the challenges posed by pollution. Human activities have been degrading natural resources for ages.

short speech on soil pollution

From burning fossil fuels to cutting trees, almost every selfish human activity is responsible for causing pollution in the environment. The cars we drive, the plastic we use, the clothes we wear, the garbage we throw, etc. all cause pollution. To combat pollution and reduce its impact on the environment, various governmental and international organizations have been formed. The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is one such organization, which deals with pollution, its causes, and consequences at the global level.

1-Minute Speech on Pollution

‘Hello and welcome to all my mates and teachers. Today, I stand before you to present my speech on pollution. There is a lot about pollution in our Geography books. From the causes of pollution to its preventive measures. But have we ever followed any of these preventive measures?

There are different types of pollution, such as air, soil, water, radioactivity, noise, etc. All these pollutions have different sources, which not only disturb the natural environment but also have adverse effects on human health, biodiversity, ecosystems, and the climate.

Pollution is a fight that requires a collective effort from developed and developing countries. Recently, there was a debate where the first world countries were requesting others to equally take responsibility for environmental pollution. However, this is not the case, because the major damage to the environment is caused by developmental activities in these first-world countries.

The damage is already down, and now is not the try to cry over spilled milk. We are in this together, and we have to take responsibility for our actions. With well-structured, alternative strategies and cooperation, we can combat pollution.

Thank you.’

2- Minute Speech on Pollution

‘Hello and welcome to everyone present here. As a conscious human being, I am happy to present my speech on pollution. Pollution is known as the introduction of unwanted substances into the environment, which disrupts the natural environment and overall health of the planet. One of the major concerns of the pollution is climate change.

The history of pollution is older than one century. In 1896, a Swedish scientist named Svante Arrhenius first predicted the changes in atmospheric carbon dioxide levels, which may substantially increase the surface temperature and because a major cause of global warming.

The first international summit to consider pollution as a global concern was the 1972 Stockholm Convention. The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) was the outcome of this international climate convention. UNEP deals with all environmental problems at the global level and organizes various environmental programs to raise awareness about pollution, climate change, global warming, etc.

Today, our terrestrial and marine ecosystems are facing existential threats due to pollution. Deforestation, industrial waste, and chemical pollutants are wreaking havoc on biodiversity. The loss of habitats, the decline of species, and the imbalance in our ecosystems paint a grim picture of the toll pollution takes on our natural world.

There are different types of pollution, such as air, water, noise, soil, radioactivity, thermal, plastic, etc. Burning of fossil fuels, industrial processes, vehicle emissions, and agricultural activities causes air pollution. Water pollution is caused by industrial discharges, agricultural runoff, untreated sewage, oil spills, and dumping of chemicals in rivers, ponds and lakes. Improper disposal of industrial waste, agricultural practices, use of pesticides and fertilizers, and contamination from hazardous substances cause soil pollution. The list goes on as new types of pollution are being discovered by scientists.

Pollution not only affects our environment but also disrupts our daily life as it affects our health, and biodiversity and is a major cause of climate change. Every country and its citizens must recognize the importance of addressing pollution through regulations, sustainable alternative practices, and environmental conservation efforts.

Speech On Soil Pollution | Soil Pollution Speech for Students and Children in English

Speech On Soil Pollution: Soil is made of both inorganic and organic substances. These coarse particles cover the top surface of the earth. The organic portion of the soil consists of the dead remains of plants and animals, while the inorganic part is made up of rock fragments and minerals. The process of formation of soil is thousands of years long, and it is our moral duty to save this vital component of nature from all kinds of pollution.

We have given some long and short speeches about the topic and have also given ten lines and some frequently asked questions for the ease of the readers.

Long Speech On Soil Pollution 500 Words In English

Good afternoon to everyone. I am lucky to have this opportunity of delivering a speech on Soil Pollution.

Soil can be defined as persistent of radioactive materials, chemicals, toxic compounds,

salts, and other kinds of stuff of this category that have an adverse effect on plant growth and animal health. Some of how the soil gets polluted are seepage through a landfill, solid waste seepage, discharge of industrial waste, underground storage tanks getting ruptured, chemicals like petroleum, pesticides, heavy metals, solvents, and hydrocarbons, etc.

The factor which causes deterioration of the soil quality content and texture is called soil pollutant. The soil pollutants also disturb the balance of the ecosystems as these pollutants have adverse effects on the plants growing in the polluted soil.

Other activities like leaching of wastes from landfills usually has a lot of chemicals involved, and these make the soil excessively porous, which subsequently causes the pollution of the underground waterbed.

Some of the major causes of soil pollution are: indiscriminate use of herbicides, pesticides, and insecticides, deforestation, increasing use of fertilizers, and dumping of solid wastes. The radioactive wastes from hospitals, labs, nuclear reactors, etc. have the capability of going very deep in the soil, and their effects are long-lasting.

In modern false agriculture done with the help of advanced agro-technology, enormous amounts of fertilizers are used to enhance soil fertility. Still, in return, it decreases the biological properties and the physio-chemical properties of the soil.

Methods of mining, waste released from food processing techniques, and municipal trash heaps have many toxic properties. If they enter the food chain, it has the potential of disturbing the entire inner body system of any organism.

Thus, it must be our aim to decrease rather completely eradicate soil pollution from earth to achieve both environmental and economic benefits. We can try to adapt sustainable agricultural management techniques, where it emphasizes on certain factors like burning of garbage in closed chambers and rational usage of organic manure.

Another crucial concept involved in the concept of reducing soil pollution is sustainable waste management. Composting of biodegradable materials, recycling of industrial wastes, waste and debris management after any mining activities are all part of sustainable waste management.

Most importantly, awareness must be created amongst people. They must be taught that soil pollution is dangerous and has such disturbing effects on not only humankind but the entire ecosystem. It affects the quality of crops on which the entire balance is dependent.

People living in a rural area must be made aware of the problems that can develop due to improper excreta disposal. It does not only cause the soil population, but it also causes water pollution and helps in the breeding of deadly diseases.

I want to end my speech by saying that people must contribute and try their best to conserve the beautiful planet that we are gifted with and only then can the world make some noticeable progress.

Short Speech On Soil Pollution 150 Words In English

Good evening to one and all present. I am honoured to represent Nature’s Club in today’s event. The topic on which I am going to deliver my speech today is Soil Pollution.

Commonly, people consider water pollution, air pollution, noise pollution, etc. as the major ones but soil pollution demands equal attention. Soil is a fundamental element of our existence, as, without soil, agriculture would not be possible, and without growing crops, the human race would not be possible.

Soil even in its natural form consists of contaminants like asbestos, lead, pesticides, etc. are found due to decomposition of animals and plants, or biological breakdown. When the level of these components goes beyond a certain limit, pollution is generated.

Natural causes can cause an increasing concentration of poisonous chemicals in the soil, but the disposal of harmful and toxic industrial waste is purely a human-made cause.

Soil pollution is dangerous and can cause massive damage to all life forms on earth. It must be brought under control as soon as possible to save the ecosystem.

10 Lines On Soil Pollution Speech In English

  • Soil pollution can be defined most simply as the contamination of soil by the addition of harmful and unwanted chemicals.
  • One of the prime causes of increased soil pollution is industrialization.
  • The deposition of excessive pesticides and insecticides degrade soil quality.

Speech on soil pollution: causes, effects and measures.

short speech on soil pollution

ADVERTISEMENTS:

Speech on Soil Pollution: Causes, Effects and Measures!

Soil or land pollution can be defined as the “changes in physical, chemical and biological conditions of the soil through man’s intervention/misuse of land and hence resulting in degradation in quantity and productivity of the soil.

Causes of Soil Pollution:

Domestic and municipal waste, industrial waste and agricultural waste are responsible for soil pollution in UDCs. Not only land but fresh water and local marine environment are also polluted.

(a) Domestic and Municipal Wastes:

Domestic wastes are those wastes which are generated by households. These wastes include many substances and materials like peels of fruits and vegetables, unused food products, newspapers and plastics which are dumped into soil. These are not properly disposed off and become a home for rats, flies and mosquitoes etc.

(b) Industrial Wastes:

The main sources of soil pollution are such industries as oil refineries, chemicals and fertilizers, food processing, iron and steel, pulp and paper, textile and mining, etc. Lakhs of tonnes of industrial wastes are dumped into soil, thus enhancing the extent of soil pollution.

(c) Agricultural Pollution:

Irrigation increases salinity of the soil to such a level that its productivity decreases. Intensive use of fertilizers results in the loss of ability to fix nitrogen. Pesticide residues remain in soil for a long time.

(d) Mineral Production:

Mineral production is always associated with the solid waste generation in the form of overburden, tailings and slimes. Areas around smelting and mining complexes are usually soiled by metals. Mining results in soil erosion, loss of fertile land and also soil pollution.

(e) Biological Agents:

The problem of improper excreta disposal can be the cause of soil pollution, water pollution, and propagation of flies. The diseases which can occur due to pollution are typhoid and paratyphoid fever, dysentery, diarrhea, cholera, hookworm diseases, ascariasis, viral hepatitis and a host of other intestinal infections.

(f) Radioactive Substances:

Nuclear wastes are harmful because they contain radioactive substances which emit nuclear radiation. If these radioactive nuclear wastes are dumped in garbage bins, they will emit nuclear radiations and pose a threat to the life of men and animals.

Effects of Soil Pollution:

Soil pollution affects human beings, animals and vegetation alike:.

1. Soil pollution is a major pollution problem with significant economic implications. Domestic and industrial wastes cause pollution of the soil and land degradation. There is water pollution from dumping and runoffs follow. Some disposal practices such as burning, cause air pollution problems to human beings.

2. Quality and variety of crops are affected when grown on polluted land. Mining results in soil erosion, loss of fertile land and also soil pollution.

3. The problem of improper excreta disposal can be the cause of soil pollution, water pollution and propagation of flies. The human and animal excreta is a source of infection and diseases. The disease is transmitted through various channels such as water, flies, soil and food.

Measures to Control Soil Pollution:

The goal of integrated soil management is to optimize the combination of economic and environmental benefits.

(a) Adaptation of Sustainable Agriculture Management Techniques:

(i) It emphasizes on rational use of organic manure.

(ii) The garbage produced should be burnt in closed chambers.

(iii) Identification of land planning units for determining land use options, potential long-term economic returns, nutrient inputs and outputs and environmental impacts.

(iv) Implementation of afforestation programmes.

(b) Sustainable Waste Management:

It includes the following steps:

(i) Industrial wastes should be recycled.

(ii) Debris and wastes left after mining should be refilled in old and abandoned mines.

(iii) Composting of biodegradable materials should be done.

(iv) Public awareness has to be created.

Speech on Pollution for Students in English | 3 Minutes Speech

December 10, 2020 by Sandeep

Speech on Pollution : The presence of harmful contaminants into the environment causing damage to the air, water and land resources in our environment is called pollution. Pollutants could be naturally occurring like volcanic ash or human-made materials like smoke, chemicals and trash substances. Pollution is a global problem. Common types of pollution are – air, water, soil, noise and light pollution. Long term exposure to pollution can lead to chronic diseases, cancers and other fatal disorders.

Speech on Pollution 500 Words in English

Below we have provided Pollution Speech in English, written in easy and simple words for class 7, 8, 9 and 10 school students.

“Pollution is a necessary result of the inability of man to reform and transform waste.” Said by Patti Smith

A warm welcome to one & all present here. Today we are here to discuss the very burning topic of the decade that is pollution. According to a report by the World Health Organization, eleven out of twelve cities with the highest levels of particulate pollution are located in India. A study says 86% of the Indian water bodies are deemed critically polluted. Land pollution has resulted in a loss of around 25 billion tons of valuable soil each year.

As per the Global Burden of Disease Report by the World Health Organization, the prevalence of hearing loss was estimated to be 6.3% in India due to noise pollution. These are the few reports which have become often in today’s media & still we are not serious about the problem. Air Pollution in India has become a severe problem. As per a study, at least 140 million people in India breathe air that is ten times over the safe limit.

57% of the total air pollution are by the industries, 27% by vehicles, 17% by crop burning & around 5% by Diwali fireworks. India, as a country, is the third-largest greenhouse gas producer after China and the United States. There is a decrease in the Air Quality Index of all the major cities of the country. All these have resulted in an increase in several airborne diseases & the premature deaths in India.

Now the second type of pollution which has impacted is water pollution. The largest source of water pollution is untreated sewage. Other factors include agricultural runoff & unregulated small scale industries, solid wastes etc. These factors have resulted in contamination of both surface water & groundwater. Lack of toilets & defecation is also adding to the cause. Many rivers water has been declared unfit for domestic use due to high pollution with organic matter.

Not only humans but also the life in water is getting adversely affected by this. Now let us briefly discuss the land degradation. Soil Contamination or land pollution is caused by xenobiotic chemicals or other alteration in the natural soil. It is due to the intensive farming, deforestation, improper disposal of wastes & industrial activities. Except for these few major pollution’s, there are several other types of pollution’s like noise pollution, light pollution, plastic pollution which has been ignored since long.

Pollution cannot be seen or felt, but its effects are evident on the earth & the biodiversity. Global warming, increase in sea level, extinction of species, scarcity of drinking water, decrease in air quality, acid rain etc. are few major impacts which are posing a threat to the existence of human life on earth. To sum it up, all types of pollution’s are detrimental to the planet & comes with terrible consequences.

All of us must take steps to bring the changes in industries to the individual level. A joint effort by the government & the citizens will curb the situation from getting worse. So let us make a stand for our mother earth & listen to its pains to save it from the upcoming global calamity.

Thank You. Have a good day.

Short Speech on Pollution 150 Words in English

Below we have provided a short speech on Pollution, suitable for class 3, 4, 5 and 6 students.

Very good morning to everyone present over here. Today the topic we will be discussing is a very well known & often heard in the news. Pollution is the introduction of contaminants into the environment, which affects it adversely. Pollution can be of several types like air pollution, water pollution, soil pollution, noise pollution, etc. Not to our surprise, human activities are the major cause of misbalanced environment & pollution.

The rise in population, industrialization, deforestation, and mining are the major contributor to the damage we have done to the environment. We have entirely exploited the natural resources & the nature around us. According to an estimation by the World Health Organization, air pollution causes premature death of around 8.8 million people worldwide which is likely to increase in coming years.

Water pollution has raised the alarming issue of the sharp decrease in domestic water for use. Land pollution has resulted in a loss of around 25 billion tons of valuable soil each year. Noise pollution has affected both behaviour & health of humans. Not only the humans but pollution has given a significant threat to the flora & fauna on the earth too.

Pollution has also led to many more serious problems like global warming , melting of polar ice, ozone layer depletion, and climatic disturbances on a global level. The reasons are many & all of us need to acknowledge that we have created a threat to life on earth. The consequences of pollution are hazardous. We must become more alert & proactive towards the situation & make every effort to turn the situation another way around.

All of us must pledge to bring a better tomorrow for the World. With an urge for everyone to give their best in the joint effort to eliminate pollution, I would like to end my speech.

Long and Short Speech on Pollution in English

Speech on pollution 1.

Good morning to all. I … studying in class … standard would like to speech on pollution at this occasion. My dear friends, pollution has been one of the biggest challenges affecting the environment and human lives. It is an environmental issue faced by people all across the world today. Variety of hazardous and toxic substances from different sources are getting intermingled into the environment and causing various types of pollution such as water, air, soil or land, noise, and thermal pollution.

Also Read: World Environment Day Speech

Smokes and toxic dust from the industries and factories get mixed to the air and causes air pollution. Such polluted air is very bad for the lungs when we breathed air in. Sewage and other wastes from the industries and factories have their ways directly to the large water bodies (river, lakes, seas, etc) and they get mixed properly to the drinking water causes water pollution. Such polluted water (containing germs, bacteria, toxic substances, viruses, etc.) is very bad to the health of human beings, animals and plants (whoever drinks this water).

Now-a-days, environment is not peaceful because of the increasing noise level through the transport, sound systems, electronic devices, etc. Such voices are causing noise pollution and very bad to the natural stamina of our ears. Excess and unbearable noise of vehicles, loud speakers, etc., can cause ear problems and even permanent deafness especially in older people and kids.

Man-made chemicals from the industries and factories such as hydrocarbons, solvents, heavy metals, etc., get mixed into the soil when people use herbicides, pesticides, fertilizers, etc., or through the spill or underground leakage of the chemicals. Such contaminants in the form of solid, liquid or gas are causing soil or land pollution which is contaminating the whole earth. Such contaminants are also causing water and air pollution as they get mixed to the underneath water supplies and some chemicals produce harmful vapors respectively.

Ever increasing the use of plastic by the people is causing huge level environmental pollution and adversely affecting the wildlife, wildlife habitat, and humans. Thermal pollution is increasing because of the huge level usage of water as a coolant by the power plants and industrial manufacturers. It is causing the change in temperature of water in the large water bodies. It is very harmful to the aquatic animals and plants as raised temperature of water decreases the oxygen level of water.

My dear friends, we have been surrounded by the thick cover of the pollution from all around means upside, downside, and both sides. We are living in pollution but the most surprising thing is that some people even do not aware of it. Big and developed countries are highly responsible to this increased level of pollution all around the world. This is the very challenging issue of this planet which needs to be solved on urgent basis. It cannot be solved by the effort one or two countries, however; it can only be solved if all the countries do hard and strict effort from various aspects regarding this issue.

Various countries have adopted some effective laws on pollution reduction however that are not enough to defeat this powerful demon. This needs conjoint governmental actions of all the countries to completely eliminate it. High level awareness should be spread to the common people to get their needed effort. Each and every person of the country should be aware and watchful of this problem, its causes, and harmful effects to the living beings. Use of harmful and toxic chemicals by the people, industries and factories should be banned very strictly by the government. Common people should be made aware by the educational institutions and government agencies through camps or other means to use environment friendly things and habits to save the environment and keep it healthy.

Thank You All.

Speech on Pollution 2

Good morning to the Sir, Madam, and my dear colleagues. My name is … I study in class … I would like to speech today on the topic of pollution in India. As we have gathered here to celebrate this event, I have selected this special topic to open in front of you in the favor of humanity. My dear friends, as we all are well aware of the word pollution. I want to tell you that pollution is a slow and sweet poison which is disturbing us and our living very badly in all the aspects such as physically, mentally, socially, and intellectually. It is not so easy to stop it at once however, not so tough to prevent it gradually.

Pollution has become a major worry for our planet and people. It happens when harmful substances get into our surroundings. To put it simply, pollution messes up the natural balance of our environment. What’s more, it really affects how we live, and it plays a big part in making the Earth get hotter.”

The main causes of the pollution are wastes from the chemical industries and factories pouring their wastes directly into the large water bodies. Such contaminants gets introduced into the natural environment and causing adverse change. Pollution can be man-made or natural however pollution from the natural sources is less harming than the man-made. Pollutants or components of the pollution get intermingled into the natural resources such as water, air, soil, etc. Pollution was started from the prehistoric times however currently it has been boom because of the deforestation, urbanization, technological advancement, and advanced life style.

People should understand the importance of environment they live in and respect the one given by God to live a simple life on the earth (the only known planet having life). Various types of pollution such as water pollution, soil or land pollution, air pollution, and sound or noise pollution, all are very harmful to the health of human beings and animals. People have been used to of technological advancement in their lives and forgot about all the existing problems because of that. Use of various fertilizers and other chemicals in the agriculture for many years in order to get better and healthy crops has created serious problem to the humanity.

Increasing number of vehicles in the cities is another main cause of air pollution. Diesel vehicles are more dangerous than the petrol vehicles as they emit more carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide, both are very harmful to the health and atmosphere. My dear friends, it is very necessary for the common public to be aware of the bad effects of pollution and run in the direction against pollution to reduce its effects. We should plant more green plants in the surrounding areas and sides of the roads in order to maintain the natural equilibrium in the environment.

Pollution is affecting our lives so we have to take individual steps and do every possible things what we can do. We should not depend only on our government actions for some positive changes. Common people like us are the main factor to stop the spread of pollution.

Speech on Pollution 3

Good morning to the respected sir, madam and my friends. At this event, I would like to speech on pollution, the most serious issue of the modern time. The most powerful demon in the form of environmental pollution has disordered the ecological balance of the atmosphere. It is a big global issue however varies in its nature and extent with regional variations. It is the topic of anxiety and debate to solve this issue. It is not the time to accuse one another however it is the time to fight this demon together with some effective weapons. Rich, powerful and developed countries are highly responsible for such a huge spread of pollution and global warming however all countries are bearing this problem.

We have been the victim of this environmental pollution however we cannot deny that this problem is created by us. It is we who have given rise to this problem due to increased irregular consumption level of natural resources and living patterns of the modern time. Pollution is the result of fast urbanization, deforestation, industrialization, technologies and unmanageable wastes from industries and factories. It is getting boom because of the high consumption level of fertilizers in agriculture, emissions from chimneys, smoke from motor vehicles, etc.

Increased number of vehicles has increased the consumption level of fuels which is causing the air pollution to a great extent. Over population is another big issue of this ever increasing pollution. It has created the need of more houses, cutting of plants to make living places, and other modern needs of the people is leading to the pollution. No one is thinking about this issue but everyone is busy in money making and collecting things of physical comfort. Because of overpopulation the consumption of fresh water, consumption of wood, etc., has increased. Increasing human needs of physical comfort (such as AC, TV, electricity, electronic devices, fertilizers, freeze, washing machine, etc.) is directly related to the spread of pollution.

Now, we lack the fresh air to breathe, fresh water to drink, fresh land to get healthy crops, and peaceful environment to sleep. We are bearing all that because of our negligence and carelessness. We have to work hard continuously to get natural fresh environment to get real physical and mental comfort. We have to get control over this demon and save life here by planting more trees, well managing wastes from industries and factories, reducing need of heavy vehicles, and other effective steps.

Speech on Pollution 4

Good morning to all. At this event celebration, I am going to recite a speech on pollution. My dear friends, pollution is not an unknown word for us. We are well aware of it, its causes and bad effects on the environment and our lives. A natural environmental contains everything required for the survival, growth, and development of the living beings on earth. However, what happened if this environment gets polluted by various means. Everything will get disturb and interfere with the survival of life here.

Various dangerous and harmful substances from different places in the environment are leading to various kinds of pollution, such as water, soil, air, land, noise, and heat pollution, among others. When smoke and harmful particles are released from factories and plants, they mix with the air and create air pollution.

Pollution has happened because of the mixing of dangerous unnatural ingredients into the natural resources which causes imbalance in the ecosystem and thus various health hazards to the human beings and animals. Pollution is damaging the ecosystem and destroying the balance. This is all because of the industrialization, urbanization, deforestation, technological advancement, over population, etc. All these are the big reason of increasing level of toxic gases (causing air pollution), solids/liquids wastes (causing water, food and soil pollution) and sound (causing noise pollution). All are the reason of imbalance in the natural ecosystem in some direct or indirect ways.

Pollution is really bad for the environment and living things. It can make people and animals sick and can even kill them. When harmful chemicals get into our water, they hurt the animals that live in it and make the water not safe to use. Bad gases in the air can give people lung problems like asthma.

It has been the matter of great concern and consideration and need to solve. Because of the pollution, babies are born with variety of birth defects and life expectancy of people has been low because of the lethal diseases like cancer, diabetes, heart problem, etc. I want to share you some facts about pollution: According to the WHO, around 6.7% percent of all deaths and 7 million premature deaths worldwide are due to the air pollution. Mississippi River carries around 1.5 million metric tons of nitrogen pollution. Pollution caused by China may change United States weather patterns. Approximately, 56% trash of United States has covered landfills (half of that is only paper).

The most damaging pollutant causing global environmental pollution is fossil fuel. It has created various evil effects especially through air, water and soil. Protecting our environment and improving its natural value is the fundamental duty of all of us. We should try our best to tackle this problem and give a nice healthy future to our next generation.

Short Speech on Pollution – 3 Speeches

Category: Environment , Essays and Paragraphs , Speech (English) On July 16, 2019 By Various Contributors

Pollution – Short Speech 1.

The earth that we live in today is far from its pristine and natural form . I am sure that most teachers and students here would agree with my statement.

Some of the changes that the planet has undergone have been a part of the natural and gradual process of evolution. However not all of them have been so. Many of the most recent and rapid changes have been induced by human beings. To give a more understandable name to this, we can call it pollution.

Pollution is a product of human exploitation of the environment . Man who has come on control over nature in the recent centuries, have exploited it mindless without an understanding of the consequences resulting in unexpected changes that we are trying to combat today.

We can define pollution as the introduction of contaminant s into the natural environment which causes adverse change and damage to the environm ent. Pollution of the environment can be broken down into the pollution of the various components of the environment. There is air pollution, water pollution, land pollution, noise pollution and light pollution . Most of us are familiar with air, water and land pollution. The newer additions are noise and light pollution. Noise pollution basically refers to the excessive noise that is created by human activity from processions to industrial activity. Light pollution refers to the excessive light concentration from artificial sources. These sources of pollution are found to have negative and pervasive effects on the individual as well as the environment .

In conclusion to this speech, I would like to end by saying that we have caused harm to the environment and are suffering the consequences of the same. The problem is that it is not the ones responsible that are facing the consequences. But we can all work together to prevent the consequences from becoming worse and also to renew the environment. It is in our hands to be the change that we want in this world.

Pollution – Short Speech 2.

I feel honored to present my speech on Pollution.

Pollution is the unwanted process by which our environment becomes impure or dangerous. In our environment, there are many harmful substances or pollutants. The presence of pollutants in our natural environment such as air, water, soil, etc., makes it dangerous for living-beings.

Pollution is everywhere. There are dusts, and polluted gases in the air we breathe. The fresh water systems are mixed with impure chemicals. The soil has become contaminated and not fit for agriculture.

The causes of pollution are many. Most of them are very often related to human activities. Air is polluted when harmful gases are emitted from vehicles and factories. Loud noises of heavy machinery causes noise pollution. Contaminated groundwater, pesticides, and acid rain causes soil erosion. Untreated disposal of factory wastes has caused much harm to the fresh water bodies such as rivers, lakes, and underground water.

The effect of pollution is very bad. Breathing impure air is not safe for human health. Loud noises may damage the hearing capability of humans. The ecosystem and biodiversity of both the fresh water systems and oceans get damaged due to pollution. Water pollution may lead to scarcity of potable water. Contaminated soil is neither safe for cultivation, not it is fertile enough for crop growing in abundance. Further, massive release of greenhouse gases may give rise to environmental problems such global warming and climate change.

The solution to the gigantic problem called pollution lies somewhere the way we consume and use various things in our life. More reliance on renewable energy sources for energy generation will surely help in reducing pollution. Planting trees and supporting various afforestation projects can help in reducing pollution and soil erosion. Plants and trees also purifies the air. Organic farming is the answer to the problem of soil erosion due to the excessive use of pesticides. The fertility of the soil remains unaffected if natural manures are used.

Thus, we find that though the modern era is an era of urbanization and comforts, it has come at the cost of polluting the environment. Now, it is the time for making concrete steps towards removing or controlling the factors that cause pollution. The youth of today desires a pollution free world. And, I am sure that they are committed to make it a reality.

Pollution – Short Speech 3.

We, humans, are always busy to find some easy way for our livelihood without Caring about our environment. We have destroyed our environment so that today we are facing consequences and day by day these problems will be raised. Good morning respected teachers and fellow students. Here I start my speech on pollution.

Pollution is affecting human life in many ways. But if we look at the reasons then we’ll find that we human has made such problems. Every natural element is polluted or about to get extinct . Currently, we are facing air pollution, water pollution, soil erosion, noise pollution, radioactive pollution, deforestation. These are the only few names. In the future, we might some more disastrous changes.

It’s getting hard to breathe . The amount of harmful component in the atmosphere is increasing day by day. The factories are created in the residential area. The smoke generated by the factories pollute the area and leads to several breathing issues of human lives. Fresh air is now only considered as a term. The vehicle is the basic thing for human and the amount of smoke it generates make human life deadly.

Along with polluting the air it also generates some harmful gases which are leading to global warming. Global warming is very harmful, as it is melting the glacier present in the Arctic region. And because of those glacier melting the temperature of the earth. Which is very harmful to the environment. The everyday temperature of the earth rises and the glacier is getting decreased. Which can also raise the problem of natural disasters.

Another serious problem faced because of vehicles is sound pollution. They blow unnecessarily horns. Listening loud music also leading noise pollution. These noise also troubles the animals that lives on street such as dogs.

Every natural substance is almost polluted. We are the social animals. Only we are the animals who can think or act smartly then why are we behaving worst than animals.

short speech on soil pollution

Speech On Pollution - 10 Lines, Short and Long Speech

Pollution is making land, water, etc., dirty, which is not suitable for any species. Alternatively, we may define pollution as spreading harmful or unclean chemicals into the ecosystem. Pollutants are these impure and toxic substances. These pollutants can be either natural or artificial, such as waste from people, ashes, trash, or factory discharge.

10-Lines Speech on Pollution

Short speech on pollution, long speech on pollution.

Speech On Pollution - 10 Lines, Short and Long Speech

Pollution is defined as dirt, impurity, or defect.

Polluting is the process of degrading something.

Our mother earth is being harmed by pollution in different ways.

Pollution primarily comes in three forms:

Air pollution,

Water pollution

Soil pollution

Many diseases have infected the planet due to pollution.

Air pollution occurs when unclean and harmful gases pollute the atmosphere.

Water contamination occurs when tainted substances combine in the water.

Human life is threatened by pollution.

For pollution management, deforestation must be prevented.

To control pollution we should plant trees.

Pollution can occur for many reasons. Around the world, it has grown to be a significant environmental problem. Any unwelcome and undesirable change to the air, land, soil, water, etc causes pollution. Chemical, biological, or physical modifications might all result from these changes. Pollutants are chemicals that produce pollution.

To reduce pollution, several laws have been passed. The Environment Protection Act of 1986 was passed in India to protect the environment and improve its quality.

Causes of Pollution

Air pollution is generated due to heavy manufacturing and due to industrialization. Due to air pollution, people's respiratory systems don't work properly and it produces different types of diseases.

Additionally, Water pollution harms the environment significantly. Water has become a scarce resource since, as we all know, its natural sources are being depleted daily. Unfortunately, even in these dangerous conditions, the few remaining water sources are becoming unfit for human consumption due to contamination from various sources (such as industrial waste, garbage disposal, etc.)

People don’t keep their garbage correctly, and then it results in the accumulation of waste. This, in turn, causes garbage pollution. We should keep our home clean, and we should always throw garbage in the dustbin. Parents should give proper knowledge of pollution to their children so they can be aware of it.

Pollution is widespread all over the world. We all know that Pollution has become so dangerous and rising continuously. The term ‘pollution’ means the burning of fossil fuels, burning firecrackers, etc., which creates pollution. When we talk about pollution on earth, we refer to the unwanted work done by humans and the burning of fossil fuels. This is mainly caused by human activities that damage the environment in several ways. Therefore, pollution harms our planet, and we must recognise these impacts to stop the harm.

Pollution Impacts Quality of Life

More than one can realise, pollution impacts one's quality of life. Sometimes it works in mysterious ways that are invisible to the human eye. However, the environment contains a lot of it. For instance, even if you can't see them, natural gases are still in the air. Similarly, pollutants pollute the air and raise carbon dioxide levels to be highly toxic for people.

Global warming will lead to a rise from increased carbon dioxide levels. There will be a shortage of drinking water as a result of the pollution of the water caused by industrial development, religious rituals, and other factors.

Human life is not feasible without water. In addition, the way waste is dumped on the ground eventually causes the soil to become poisonous. We won't have fertile soil to cultivate our crops if land pollution continues to occur at this rate. As a result, significant steps must be taken to decrease pollution significantly.

Types of Pollution

Air Pollution

Water Pollution

Soil Pollution

How to Reduce Pollution

People should use public transportation or carpools to reduce vehicle smoke to reduce air pollution. Avoiding firecrackers at festivals and celebrations can also reduce air and noise pollution, although it may be challenging. Above all, we need to make recycling a habit. The oceans and land are polluted by the used plastic which goes to people's homes for daily use.

So remember to reuse them as long as possible rather than throwing them away after use. Additionally, we must encourage everyone to plant more trees, clearing the air by absorbing harmful gases. To protect the fertility of the soil, the government must restrict the use of fertilisers. In addition, it must be illegal for businesses to dump rubbish into rivers and the ocean, which pollutes the water.

Conclusion -

All forms of pollution are dangerous and have significant impacts. Everyone, from people to whole industries, must move toward change. We must work together now since solving this issue requires a team effort. In addition, these human actions are taking the innocent lives of animals. So, we need to keep this planet pollution-free. We must all take a position and speak up against pollution.

Personal experience -

In cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Patna, etc. Pollution level goes very high. People from these places suffer from many types of diseases. Due to pollution, people from these cities die earlier on than the average real death time.

Pollution is a significant problem for all nations. In our country, cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, etc., are polluted above par score. We should plant a tree every month. My whole family goes to the village to plant a tree when we have time. Due to pollution, people can't breathe properly, which causes problems in the respiratory system.

Long and Short Speech on Pollution in English

Pollution speech 1.

Such polluted water (containing germs, bacteria, toxic substances, viruses, etc) is very bad to the health of human beings, animals and plants (whoever drinks this water).

Pollution

Now-a-days, environment is not peaceful because of the increasing noise level through the transport, sound systems, electronic devices, etc. Such voices are causing noise pollution and very bad to the natural stamina of our ears. Excess and unbearable noise of vehicles, loud speakers, etc can cause ear problems and even permanent deafness especially in older people and kids.

Man-made chemicals from the industries and factories such as hydrocarbons, solvents, heavy metals, etc get mixed into the soil when people use herbicides, pesticides, fertilizers, etc or through the spill or underground leakage of the chemicals.

Pollution Speech 3

Because of overpopulation the consumption of fresh water, consumption of wood, etc has increased. Increasing human needs of physical comfort (such as AC, TV, electricity, electronic devices, fertilizers, freeze, washing machine, etc) is directly related to the spread of pollution.

Pollution Speech 4

Good morning to all. At this event celebration, I am going to recite a speech on pollution. My dear friends, pollution is not an unknown word for us. We are well aware of it, its causes and bad effects on the environment and our lives. A natural environmental contains everything required for the survival, growth, and development of the living beings on earth. However, what happened if this environment gets polluted by various means. Everything will get disturb and interfere with the survival of life here.
