Introduction

Aristotle, reckoned among the greatest Greek philosophers, devoted his life to searching for truth which to him was the highest knowledge to be attained through wisdom. Philosophers, Greek or Indian, right since ancient times, have devoted themselves to the search for truth. The implication is clear. Truth, per se, is not a unique entity, but is like a chameleon that changes its colours.

Philosophical Scrutiny

There has never been any universal truth in the world of science in human history except self-evident principles that require no wisdom to be applied in their recognition. Of these self evident truths, rationalists like Descartes have maintained that these truths are recognized as soon as they are brought to our cognition. For instance, it requires neither wisdom nor intelligence to cognize that a triangle is a three sided figure or even that a triangle is 180 degrees. If that is the case, what meaning lies in the assertion that wisdom finds truth? The truth being referred to here then must be an altogether different kind of truth than 2+2=4. After all, the Greek philosophers and the Indian philosophers devoted their ageless wisdom in search of the truth. And did they find it? Most certainly, they did. Only, we, the lesser mortals devoted to sensory pleasures and the material world, fail to recognize or appreciate the truth they found through wisdom. All philosophers can be said to be devoted to the enterprise of truth. Descartes was a rationalist, who arrived at the truth of Cogito Ergo Sum, or I think, therefore, I am. This self discovery for Descartes was indubitable because, as he maintained, “the more I think of I, the more certain I become of its existence which even an evil genius could not have put into my mind”. Let us not forget here that a philosopher is one who loves wisdom because, by its very definition, philosophy is the love of Wisdom. Therefore, we can argue that Newton dedicated himself to the love of wisdom when he discovered the law of gravitation, even as our own philosophers like Buddha, Gautam, Shankaracharya, and Kanad discovered their truths through their wisdom. There now emerges a conundrum about truth. Is truth one or many? Is my truth different from your truth? Is the world of plurality a mirage? The wisdom of our holy sages contained in Upanishads answers this question beautifully. Our Upanishads claim, Ekam sat, Vipra Bahuda vadanti. This aphorism means: “That which exists is ONE; sages call it by various names.” Yet, the quest for truth is a never-ending pursuit that has led to civilizational transformations, crusades, jihads, and burning at stake. For much of human history, the creation theory of Adam and Eve held as much sway as the geocentric theory of our world. These were truths patronized by the holy church. They could not be questioned because it was the Biblical truth believed to have descended directly from God. However, some brave and courageous men like Darwin and Copernicus questioned these truths. Hundreds of men before them were already sacrificed at the altar of truth for holding contrary beliefs. When these men brought the new truths before the world, they also simultaneously transformed the world. However, there is no guarantee that the truth brought out by these men will remain permanent and set in stone, and who could have said it better than wise Siddhartha, the Buddha, in as precise words as “The only constant in this world is change” or the wise Greek Philosopher, Heraclitus who claimed, “You cannot bathe in the same river twice.”

Wisdom and Intelligence

These incidents in human history clearly point out the unmistakable distinction between wisdom and intelligence. While intelligence will help us discover, invent or innovate, wisdom allows us to attain the consciousness of truth. The truths found through intelligence can be short-lived, but the truths found through wisdom are permanent. If you are a great devotee to science or scientific truths, you may, in all likelihood, question the above assumptions. You may, for instance, want to know how truths established by science can ever be challenged. You only need to look at the progress of science, which has revised the truths a number of times in its journey. The Newtonian laws of motion perfectly explained our physical world till the time particle theory began to dominate the field of science. The laws of motion failed in their explanatory power when an altogether new world, the microscopic world, was opened to us. Similarly, our understanding of diseases underwent a paradigm shift when the discovery of germs and germs theory came to dominate the medical world. We are constantly discovering new knowledge, and science is no doubt enriched by those, but they can never establish the truth for good, as we continue to hop from one truth to the next, and so on. Therefore, the wisdom of Lord Buddha can surely take us closer to the truth of the world of flux, the truth of constant change. So, the adage wisdom finds truth can be seen to operate in our world like clockwork. The question then for us is what truth we want to find and how wisdom can help us discover the truth. In other words, this adage operates in the very personal and private lives of individuals. There are many things that we discover with our own wisdom, and sometimes what we learn has the status of grand truth. These adages are aptly expressed by wise poets and saints like Kabir and Rahim. Let us see few examples. Rahim says, “Rahiman nij man ki bitha man hi rakho goy, sun ithlainhe log sab, banti na lainhe koi”. Rahim cautions us not to disclose our personal grief to others because people will not share our pain, rather, they will draw malicious pleasure out of it. This is the kind of worldly truth many of us discover through our wisdom. Similarly, Kabir states, “Mati kahe  kumhar se, tu kya ronde moy, ek din aisa ayega, main rondungi toye”. This couplet, in a very simple and plain language, expounds a profound and undeniable truth. The truth of mortality, or impermanence of life, is well known but it requires wisdom to string this truth in a language that strikes an instant chord of awareness.

In conclusion, it is clear that wisdom finds the truth. The wise either discover the truth themselves, or realize the truth spoken by masters. The unwise, far from the truth, spend their days without self reflection and self-cogitation. One may be knowledgeable, may have mastered the encyclopaedia; but all of it amounts to nothing if one has not invested an iota of wisdom in searching the truth. With all our knowledge and learning, we are like robots fed with data that we churn out when needed and that really makes no difference to us. But when we apply our wisdom to find the truth of life, we are transformed individuals.

The nature of both wisdom and truth is highly subjective which means the basic or inherent character of the two is influenced by personal feelings or opinions. Perhaps this is the reason while in his search for truth for six years, Gautama could not find the answer to end suffering although he took the help of the wisest teachers of the time. He realised that enlightenment was beyond objective facts. That “beyond” has always been wisdom. Wisdom is about the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgement. This quality could make a person inventor, innovator and/or discoverer irrespective of his or her work domain which could be either physical or metaphysical or both. One of the best examples is Albert Einstein. He is not only best known for his theory of relativity and the equation E=MC2 but also for his wisdom quotes such as “Try not to become a man of success. Rather become a man of value.” Under normal conditions, anything which is true or by fact or reality is the truth. We use different expressions for it like the fact of the matter, what actually happened, the case, facts, certainty, authenticity etc., though the truth giving meaning to human life is evolutionary assertion dependent on the essence of the subject. And to acknowledge the essence of any subject, wisdom is a prerequisite. Thus searching for truth involves wisdom as a necessary or inevitable part or consequence. It is difficult to find the truth without wisdom. We, at large, know ethics of the Bhagavad Gita. It talks about the truths which are universal so they have universal application. These truths are (1) Immortality of the Soul, (2) Immanence of God, (3) Impermanence of the world, (4) Immediacy of Liberation. But how many of us really recognize the doctrine of the Immanence of God? We know, God is the Indweller of everyone. He is the witness of our thoughts. People around us watch our actions and hear our words, whereas God watches not only our actions, but the motives and intentions that prompt them. Despite this, the most common thing, anywhere and everywhere, we face is the trust deficit. Knowing the truth is not about finding it. To find the truth one has to recognize it. Recognizing truth requires realising wisdom which means a blend of experience, knowledge, and good judgement about the subject has utmost importance. To recognize the doctrine of the Immanence of God necessitates realizing wisdom related to it. That is what Lord Krishna answers in chapter three, verses 37 and 38 (Bhagavadgita). Only wisdom makes us understand that it is lust which later transformed into wrath, which is the all-devouring sinful enemy of this world. As fire is covered by smoke, the living entity is similarly covered by different degrees of lust. Greed, dishonesty and corruption are all by-products of this lust. To be happy, successful and well situated in real terms, the Gita says, one must control different degrees of different dimensions of lust. A person who understands it will try to experience it, consequently he would find the truth behind the life. Similarly ‘integrity’ is the virtue. That is its truth. However it is not that simple. This truth has no dimension unless a person doesn’t practice what one preaches. Or more importantly, practicing what one believes is right. To ascertain something right, a person needs wisdom which designates a ‘man of principle’ as not a man who understands a principle, but a man who understands, accepts, and lives by a principle. Here, too, wisdom and truth seem inseparable. Consider the most crucial part of life called stress. The prevailing truth regarding stress is misleading where mostly we believe that the environment controls events. Psychologically, the stress we feel is often based on our individual perception of a situation and this is why some people suffer more than others. The person having wisdom or quality of being wise, will suffer less, as American psychologist Julian Rotter describes this as our ‘locus of control’ or the extent to which an individual feels that they have control over a situation. Wisdom can make locus of control internal, in that we believe we have control over our lives, so could manage our stress. Even this is the very idea reflecting through the Pillars of Indian Culture: Ṛta, Ṛṇa, Dharma. The awareness of ṛta (cosmic law: when we realize ṛta, the value of the whole of creation, we are humbled and naturally become more caring towards the universe) leads to the realization of ṛṇa (the word ṛṇa refers to ‘being in debt’ – of a physical, monetary kind, every human being by birth carries this baggage of ṛṇa), which in turn motivates one to pursue dharma. The way to clear ṛṇa is by adhering to dharma. Knowledge of Ṛta and Ṛṇa is wisdom, whereas Dharma is truth to be sought. Together they make us feel the Purushartha which is the “object of human pursuit” and the blueprint for human fulfilment. Its “Dharma” component is about true purpose in life and the ethical basis on which one lives one’s life at the same time one accepts his conscienced decision making. Abovementioned notions of reasoning show where there is truth, there is wisdom. Where there is wisdom, there is truth. They mirror each other and seem to be indivisible, indissoluble and inextricable. This is well reflected in the great people’s philosophies or their way of living, for instance, for Mahatma Gandhi the quest for “Truth” largely depended upon the truth about the self. And his wisdom stated that an individual’s “highest duty in life is to serve mankind and take his share in bettering its condition”, which could not be done unless one understands and respects the self. Likewise, ‘good’ to G.E.Moore means the word ‘Good’ is indefinable because the quality ‘goodness’ is a simple, unanalysable and non – complex property. Hedonists commit this fallacy because they explain the meaning of ‘good’ by reference to pleasure which is a particular mode of experience. Pleasure may be more or less good, but it does not enable one to know what is really meant by good, and hence the truth. Plato recognised wisdom as one of his four cardinal virtues and defined it as the rational part of the soul. It is an all-embracing virtue. It is moral insight into the duties in a concrete situation and performing them. It is practical wisdom which is implied in all moral actions. The same case is with Kant’s Categorical Imperative, explicitly asserted that actions are right only when they are done for the sake of duty – only in so far as they are performed for the sake of their rightness. More so than anything else, the journey from Prince Siddhartha, the son of the king of the Sakya people, to Gautama Buddha was all about “the dynamics of wisdom-truth relations” which concluded with “four noble truths”: (1) existence is suffering; (2) this suffering is caused by human craving; (3) there is a cessation of the suffering, which is nirvana; and (4) nirvana can be achieved, in this or future lives, through the “eightfold path” of right views, right resolve, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, and right concentration. The above postulations have empirical realizations experienced in the form of a dignified human life which confirms that truth and wisdom are “conjoint, covalent and reciprocal”.

Hundreds of men before them were already sacrificed at the altar of truth for holding contrary beliefs. When these men brought the new truths before the world, they also simultaneously transformed the world. However, there is no guarantee that the truth brought out by these men will remain permanent and set in stone, and who could have said it better than wise Siddhartha, the Buddha, in as precise words as “The only constant in this world is change” or the wise Greek Philosopher, Heraclitus who claimed, “You cannot bathe in the same river twice.”

Wisdom and Intelligence

These incidents in human history clearly point out the unmistakable distinction between wisdom and intelligence. While intelligence will help us discover, invent or innovate, wisdom allows us to attain the consciousness of truth. The truths found through intelligence can be short-lived, but the truths found through wisdom are permanent. If you are a great devotee to science or scientific truths, you may, in all likelihood, question the above assumptions. You may, for instance, want to know how truths established by science can ever be challenged. You only need to look at the progress of science, which has revised the truths a number of times in its journey. The Newtonian laws of motion perfectly explained our physical world till the time particle theory began to dominate the field of science. The laws of motion failed in their explanatory power when an altogether new world, the microscopic world, was opened to us. Similarly, our understanding of diseases underwent a paradigm shift when the discovery of germs and germs theory came to dominate the medical world. We are constantly discovering new knowledge, and science is no doubt enriched by those, but they can never establish the truth for good, as we continue to hop from one truth to the next, and so on. Therefore, the wisdom of Lord Buddha can surely take us closer to the truth of the world of flux, the truth of constant change. So, the adage wisdom finds truth can be seen to operate in our world like clockwork. The question then for us is what truth we want to find and how wisdom can help us discover the truth. In other words, this adage operates in the very personal and private lives of individuals. There are many things that we discover with our own wisdom, and sometimes what we learn has the status of grand truth. These adages are aptly expressed by wise poets and saints like Kabir and Rahim. Let us see few examples. Rahim says, “Rahiman nij man ki bitha man hi rakho goy, sun ithlainhe log sab, banti na lainhe koi”. Rahim cautions us not to disclose our personal grief to others because people will not share our pain, rather, they will draw malicious pleasure out of it. This is the kind of worldly truth many of us discover through our wisdom. Similarly, Kabir states, “Mati kahe  kumhar se, tu kya ronde moy, ek din aisa ayega, main rondungi toye”. This couplet, in a very simple and plain language, expounds a profound and undeniable truth. The truth of mortality, or impermanence of life, is well known but it requires wisdom to string this truth in a language that strikes an instant chord of awareness.

In conclusion, it is clear that wisdom finds the truth. The wise either discover the truth themselves, or realize the truth spoken by masters. The unwise, far from the truth, spend their days without self reflection and self-cogitation. One may be knowledgeable, may have mastered the encyclopaedia; but all of it amounts to nothing if one has not invested an iota of wisdom in searching the truth. With all our knowledge and learning, we are like robots fed with data that we churn out when needed and that really makes no difference to us. But when we apply our wisdom to find the truth of life, we are transformed individuals.

निबंध – 1 (500 शब्द): बुद्धिमत्ता की विशेषताएं.

सभी मनुष्यों में सामान्य रूप से एक ही प्रकार से बुद्धि निहित होती हैं। अपनी बुद्धि या बुद्धिमानी के द्वारा ही वो अपने जीवन की विभिन्न परिस्थितियों को समझता है और उसी के अनुसार अपने जीवन को आगे की ओर बढ़ाता है। इसी के द्वारा हम अपने जीवन की समस्याओं, परेशानियों व अन्य प्रकार के कष्टों से निजात पाते हैं। यह हमें जन्मजात प्राप्त होती हैं, परन्तु यह किसी-किसी में जन्म से ही अत्यधिक होती है, जिसे भगवान की भेट के रूप में जाना जाता है।

बुद्धिमानी/बुद्धि क्या है ?

किसी भी व्यक्ति की बौद्धिक क्षमता ही बुद्धिमानी कहलाती है। जो व्यक्ति अपनी परिस्थितियों के माध्यम से सीखने, समझने, तर्क, और उसे अपने व्यावहारिक जीवन में उपयोग करने की क्षमता ही बुद्धिमानी या बुद्धि कहलाती है। यह बुद्धिमानी या चातुर्य किसी-किसी में जन्मजात होती है, तो किसी में अपने आस-पास के परिस्थितियों के अनुभव से प्राप्त होती है।

बुद्धि या बुद्धिमत्ता की विशेषताएं

हम सभी में जन्म से ही सीखने की योग्यता निहित होती हैं जिसे हम बुध्दि कहते है। अपनी इस बुध्दि और प्राप्त किए ज्ञान को कब, कहां, और किस तरह से इसका उपयोग करते है, उसे हम बुद्धिमत्ता कहते है। यह एक तर्क, मनन, चिंतन और निर्णय लेने की एक प्रक्रिया है जो की हम अपने आस-पास की परिस्थितियों से सिखते और उसका उपयोग करते है।

जन्म से ही हमारे अंदर बुद्धि का विकास लगातार रूप से होता रहता हैं और यह जीवन पर्यन्त रहता है। बचपन में हम सामान्य चीजों को सिखते हैं। जैसे-जैसे हम बड़े होते है हमारे सीखने की क्षमता और अधिक हो जाती है। इसे हम उदग्र बुद्धि के रूप में जानते है, यह 8 से 12 वर्षों तक रहती है। इसके उपरांत हमरी बौद्धिक क्षमता क्षैतिज रूप से उम्र भर बढ़ती रहती हैं। अर्थात हमारा शारीरिक विकास तो रुक जाता हैं पर हम अपने अनुभवों और कौशल शक्ति के द्वारा अपनी बुद्धिमत्ता को बढ़ा सकते है।

बुद्धि या बुद्धिमत्ता को हम केवल किताबों के माधयम से ही हासिल नहीं करते, बल्कि ये हमारी ज्ञान, तर्क क्षमता, पारिस्थितिक विश्लेषण, और उसके उपयोग से भी इसकी वृद्धि होती है। हम यह कह सकते है कि अपने अनुभवों और अपनी कौशलताओं के साथ हम अपने बुद्धिमत्ता को और अधिक बढ़ा सकते हैं। यही अनुभव और ज्ञान हमें जीवन की विपरीत परिस्थितियों में सफलता प्राप्त करने में हमारी मदद करती हैं।

बुद्धिमत्ता का उपयोग

जन्म से ही हमारे बुद्धि का विकास होना शुरू हो जाता हैं। छोटी उम्र में हमें बुद्धि या बुद्धिमत्ता हमारे माता-पिता और शिक्षकों के द्वारा इसे परिपक्व बनाया जाता है। वो अपने अनुभवों के आधार पर हमें सारी चीजें सिखाते है, और इसी ज्ञान के आधार पर हम अपने जीवन में आगे बढ़ते है।

जैसे-जैसे हमारे उम्र का विकास होता है, हमारी बुद्धिमत्ता और बुद्धि में अनुभव के साथ विकास शामिल होता जाता हैं। बढ़ती उम्र के साथ हमारे सोचने, समझने, कल्पना और अपने ज्ञान का सही जगह उपयोग ही हमारी बुद्धिमत्ता को दर्शाती हैं। कुछ ज्ञान हमें किताबों से तो कुछ हमारी जिंदगी में अपनी अनुभव और कौशलता से प्राप्त होती हैं। बढ़ती उम्र के साथ ही हमारी बुद्धि और ज्ञान दोनों का विकास होता हैं, और हम अपने अनुभव के आधार पर जीवन के विभिन्न परिस्थितियों में इसका उपयोग करते हैं।

जीवन के विकट परिस्थितियों में हम अपने ज्ञान और अनुभव के उपयोग से अपनी बुद्धि के द्वारा बहुत ही समझदारी के साथ अपनी बुद्धिमत्ता का प्रयोग करते है। किसी भी विकट परिस्थिति में हमें अपने ज्ञान, सोच, चातुर्य, इत्यादि के इस्तेमाल की आवश्यकता है, ताकि हम उस विकट परिस्थिति से आसानी के साथ निकल सके और हमें कोई हानी भी न हो।

निबंध – 2 (1000 शब्द): बुद्धिमत्ता का हमारे जीवन में महत्व

हम सभी अपने जीवन के विभिन्न पहलुओं पर अपनी सोच-समझ का उपयोग करते हैं। बुद्धिमान व्यक्ति अपनी सोच, तर्क, और विचार कर उस संकट को बहुत ही सफलता के साथ उसका हल निकाल लेता है। व्यक्ति अपनी बुद्धिमत्ता का प्रयोग अपने जीवन में किस प्रकार से करता है, मैंने यहां उसे निचे विस्तृत किया है।

कुछ लोग ऐसे होते है जिनके पास सभी विषयों और क्षेत्रों की जानकारी होती है। इस प्रकार के व्यक्ति ज्ञानी कहलाती है। जैसे – पंडित, संत, इत्यादि।

• स्थान संबंधी बुद्धिमत्ता

हममें से ऐसे बहुत से लोग है जिन्हें अपने क्षत्रो या कई स्थानों के बारे में पूर्ण जानकारी होती है। जैसे – गाईड।

• याद संबंधी बुद्धिमत्ता

कुछ व्यक्तियों की स्मरण शक्ति बहुत ही तेज होती है, वो किसी भी चीज को जल्दी भूलते नहीं है। अतीत में हुई घटनाएं उनके दिमाग में हमेशा के लिए सुरक्षित हो जाती है।

• तर्क-वितर्क संबंधी बुद्धिमत्ता

तर्क-वितर्क करने की क्षमता हर किसी में नहीं होती है। इस प्रकार के व्यक्ति हर पहलुओं की जानकारी रखते है।

• मौखिक भाषण या उपदेश संबंधी बुद्धिमत्ता

दुनिया में ऐसे कई व्यक्ति है जो अपनी आवाज या बोलने की क्षमता से लोगों को प्रभावित करते है। ऐसे व्यक्ति अपनी भाषण के द्वारा अपनी बुद्धिमत्ता को प्रदर्शित करते है।

• संगीत संबंधी बुद्धिमत्ता

कुछ को संगीत की अच्छी जानकारी होती है और वे अपने अनुभव और कौशलता के साथ संगीत में बुद्धिमत्ता हासिल करते है।

बुद्धिमत्ता को हम विभिन्न पहलुओं के आधार पर भी वर्गीकृत कर सकते है।

• वास्तविक बुद्धिमत्ता
• काल्पनिक या तार्किक बुद्धिमत्ता
• सामाजिक बुद्धिमत्ता

हम सभी शारीरिक गुणों के साथ-साथ मानसिक गुणों से भी एक दूसरों से भिन्न होते हैं। सभी की बौद्धिक क्षमता एक सी नहीं होती है। हममें से कुछ की बौद्धिक क्षमता तेज या प्रखर होती है तो कुछ की सामान्य तो कुछ की कमजोर होती है। ये भिन्नताएं जन्मजात होती है।

वास्तविक बुद्धिमत्ता से हमारा तात्पर्य है कि व्यक्ति जन्म से ही प्रखर बुद्धि के साथ पैदा होता है। उसकी बौद्धिक क्षमता हर क्षेत्र में तेज होती है। वास्तविक रूप में यह अनुवांशिक होती है जो की जन्म के साथ ही उसे मिलती है। उसमें सीखने, समझने, सोचने की क्षमता बहुत ही तेज होती है। यह सब ज्ञान उसे किताबों, गुरुओं और अपने अनुभव से प्राप्त होती है। यह उस व्यक्ति की सामान्य बौद्धिक क्षमता को दर्शाता है।

कोई व्यक्ति कितना बुद्धिमान है यह उसकी मानसिकता और उसकी आयु पर निर्भर करता है। इसके आधार पर ही हम उस व्यक्ति की वास्तविक बुद्धिमत्ता का पता लगा सकते है। वास्तविक बुद्धिमत्ता वस्तुओं को देखकर उसका सही अनुमान लगाने को कहते है। इस प्रकार की बुद्धिमत्ता इंजिनियर, किसान, मिस्त्री इत्यादि में निहित होती है।

• तार्किक बुद्धिमत्ता

तार्किक बुद्धिमत्ता से हमारा तात्पर्य है, किसी वास्तु के बारे में चिंतन या कल्पना करना है। इस प्रकार के बुद्धिजीवी वैज्ञानिक, डॉक्टर, गणितज्ञ इत्यादि होते है।

यह व्यक्ति को समाज से जोड़ता है। इस बुद्धिमत्ता के द्वारा व्यक्ति सामाजिक परिवेश को अच्छी तरह से समझाता है और सामाजिक जटिलता को दूर करने के लिए हमेशा प्रयासरत रहता है। ऐसे व्यक्ति समाज के प्रति उनकी अच्छी जानकारी और हर प्रकार की समस्या से लड़ने का साहस रखते है। जैसे- सामाजिक कार्यकर्त्ता, व्यापारी, नेता इत्यादि सामाजिक बुद्धिमत्ता वाले व्यक्ति होते है।

बुद्धिमत्ता – जीवन में किस प्रकार मिलती है ?

हर व्यक्ति समान रूप से एक जैसा होता है, पर शारीरिक बनावट और बुद्धिमत्ता से वो एक-दूसरे से भिन्न होते है। जन्म से ही कुछ की बौद्धिक क्षमता बहुत तेज होती है, वो किसी भी चीज को बहुत ही आसानी और तेजी से सिखते है जबकि सामान्य व्यक्ति ऐसा नहीं कर पाता है। बुद्धिमान व्यक्ति में सीखने, समझने और सोचने की एक अद्भुत शक्ति होती है। किसी भी वस्तु के बारे में पूछे गए सवालों को वह बड़ी आसानी से उसका हल देता है।

जीवन में आयी विकट परिस्थितियों से वह आसानी के साथ निकल जाता है और उसे हल करता है, चाहे वह स्थिति व्यक्तिगत हो या सामाजिक हो। उसके अंदर सोचने, समझने और उसका हल निकालने की एक अद्भुत कला होती है। जो की वह अपने उम्र के साथ किताबों, परिस्थितियों और समाज से सिखता है। किताबों के माध्यम से वह ज्ञान अर्जित करता है और उसे अपने बुद्धि के द्वारा जीवन में सोच-समझ कर उपयोग में लाता है।

कुछ ज्ञान उसे सामाजिक अनुभव से प्राप्त तो कुछ दूसरों के अनुभव से वो देखकर उसे अर्जित करता है। व्यक्ति अपने अनुभव का भी इस्तेमाल अपने बुद्धिमत्ता को बढ़ाने में करता है। इसलिए कहा जाता है कि एक अनुभवी व्यक्ति ही बुद्धिमान होता है, और यह बात सच भी है। क्योंकि उसने अपनी जिंदगी की परिस्थितियों से वो सब सिखता है और अपनी समस्याओं का हल निकालता है।

बुद्धिमत्ता को हम किस प्रकार बढ़ा सकते है ?

किसी भी सामान्य व्यक्ति को अपनी बुद्धिमत्ता को बढ़ने के लिए अधिक से अधिक विषयों या क्षेत्रों का ज्ञान प्राप्त करके बढ़ा सकता है, और यह ज्ञान उसे किताबों, अपने तार्किक अनुभव, और वास्तविक अनुभवों से प्राप्त कर सकता है। किताबों के माधयम से मिले ज्ञान को अपने परिस्थितियों से निपटने में मदद करेगा। यह वास्तविक अनुभव उसकी अपनी होगी जिससे की उसकी बुद्धि शक्ति और अधिक होगी।

अपने बड़ों या गुरुओं द्वारा दिए गये विचारों को अपनाकर वो अपनी समस्या हल कर सकता है। इससे उसे अनुभव और परिस्थितियों से निपटने में आसानी होगी। उनकी बताई गयी बातों को अपने तर्क क्षमता के आधार पर अपनाने की आवश्यकता है, और यह पूर्णतया सफल साबित होगी। इससे व्यक्ति का अनुभव और अधिक मजबूत होगा।

समाज में फैली अनेक समस्याओं को व्यक्ति अपनी सोच समझ और बुद्धि के इस्तेमाल से उस समस्या का हल निकाल सकता है। इस प्रकार से उसे सामाजिक बुद्धिमत्ता की प्राप्ति होगी। व्यक्ति अपनी बुद्धि और तर्क क्षमताओं के माध्यम से किसी भी समस्या का हल निकाल सकता है। इस प्रकार उसे अनुभव के साथ-साथ परिस्थितियों से लड़ने में सहायता मिलेगी और व्यक्ति और अधिक बुद्दिमान होगा। कुछ परिस्थितियां उसकी व्यक्तिगत होती है जिसका की हल वो खुद के ज्ञान और अनुभव से कर सकता है। इस प्रकार से वो अपनी वास्तविक बुद्धिमत्ता को और अधिक बढ़ा सकता है।

क्या बुद्धिमत्ता हमारे जीवन के लिए आवश्यक है ?

इस आधुनिक युग में हज़ारों प्रकार की समस्याएं हैं, और यह सभी समस्याएं मानवी जीवन को बहुत ही प्रभावित करती है। इन समस्याओं से निजात पाने के लिए व्यक्ति को अपनी बुध्दि, विवेक और अनुभव का इस्तेमाल करने की आवश्यकता है। समस्या छोटी हो या बड़ी यह जीवन को प्रभावित करती है। इस समस्याओं से निपटने के लिए बुद्धिमत्ता बहुत ही आवश्यक है।

मान लीजिए की आपने अपनी परीक्षा की तैयारी पूरी तरह से नहीं कर पाए है और आपकी परीक्षा नजदीक आ गयी है। ऐसे में आपको लगता है कि आप उस अपनी परीक्षा में सफल नहीं हो पाएंगे और इस वजह से आप अवसाद में चले जायेंगे। पर एक बुद्धिमान छात्र ऐसी बात से नहीं घबरायेगा और वो अपना पूर्ण प्रयास करेगा। वो अपनी कक्षाओं में पढ़ाये गए विषयों को दोहरायेगा और अपने दिमाग में पढ़ाई गयी बातों को बार-बार दोहरायेगा। बचे हुए समय में उससे जितना भी हो सकेगा वह अपने विषयों की तैयारी करेगा। अंत में वह सकारात्मकता के साथ अपनी परीक्षा देगा और वो उसमें अवश्य ही सफल होगा। इस तरह से उस छात्र ने अपनी ज्ञान, विवेक, सोच और अपने अनुभव का इस्तेमाल किया, जो की हर किसी के जीवन में आवश्यक है।

अतः हम कह सकते है कि बुद्धिमत्ता हमारे जीवन के लिए अति आवश्यक है। अपनी बुद्धिमत्ता, ज्ञान और अपने विवेक के द्वारा हम अपने जीवन की समस्याओं को बड़ी सहजता से हल कर सकते है। बढ़ती उम्र और अनुभव से हमारी बुद्धिमत्ता और भी अधिक होगी और इससे हम औरों की सहायता भी कर सकते है, और हम समाज के उत्थान में अपना सहयोग दे सकते है।

इस वैज्ञानिक युग में जीवन को सफल और सरल बनाने के लिए स्वयं की बुद्धिमत्ता बहुत ही आवश्यक है। यह हमें अपने जीवन में आयी विकट परिस्थितियों से निजात दिलाने में मदद करती हैं। ज्ञान, बुद्धि, कौशल, तर्क, अनुभव से ही हमारी बुद्धिमत्ता बढ़ती हैं। व्यक्ति अपने ज्ञान और अनुभव से उम्र के साथ अपनी बुद्धिमत्ता में परिपक्व होता है। इससे उसे अपने जीवन और सामाजिक समस्याओं को आसानी से हल करने में सहायता मिलती है।

शास्त्रों में कहा गया है कि सत्य परेशान हो सकता है लेकिन पराजित नहीं। दुनिया के तमाम धर्म ग्रंथ सच्चाई को एकमत होकर सर्वश्रेष्ठ बनाते हैं।

सनातन संस्कृति में सत्य को ईश्वर का स्वरूप ही माना जाता है। हर धर्म ग्रंथ इंसान को सत्य के मार्ग पर चलने तथा सत्कर्म करने की प्रेरणा देते हैं।

ऐसा माना जाता है कि जहां सत्य का निवास होता है वहां पर अन्य कोई दुर्गुण नहीं ठहरते। दुनिया की हर न्याय व्यवस्था सत्य की सुरक्षा करने के लिए ही बनाए गए हैं।

आज के समय में इंसान अपने स्वार्थ की पूर्ति के लिए असत्य तथा छल का सहारा लेता है लेकिन उसे सत्य के परदे से छुपा कर ही समाज के सामने जाहिर करता है।

सत्य को गुणों का राजा और असत्य को दुर्गुणों का राजा कहा जाए तो कोई अतिशयोक्ति नहीं होगी। संसार में दो ही कटु सत्य माने जाते हैं जिसमें से पहला ईश्वर है और दूसरा मृत्यु।

• जब कोई इंसान निश्छल होकर किसी तथ्य को बिना किसी स्वार्थ के जाहिर करता है तो उस इंसान को सच्चा इंसान कहा जा सकता है।

जब मन ,वचन, कर्म के माध्यम से सात्विकता जाहिर होती है तो उसे सत्य या सच्चाई कहा जाता है। सनातन संस्कृति में सच्चाई को भगवान की सबसे प्रिय वस्तु बताई गई है ऐसा कहा जाता है कि जो सत्यवादी होता है उसे भगवान सबसे अधिक प्रेम करते हैं।

एक कहावत है कि सच्चाई तथा पानी को दबाया नहीं जा सकता उसे जितना दबाया जाए उसकी शक्ति उतनी ही ज्यादा प्रबल हो जाती है। वह अपनी दिशा स्वयं ही बना लेता है तथा सामने जरूर आता है।

श्रीमद भगवत गीता के अनुसार जब इंसान अपने सभी कर्म ईश्वर को साक्षी मानकर करता है तो सत्य का जन्म होता है। उसके द्वारा किए गए कर्म सत्कर्म कहलाते हैं। ऐसे इंसान को मोक्ष प्राप्ति आसानी से हो जाती है।

ऐसा कहा जाता है कि तीन चीजें छुपाए नहीं छुपती- सूरज, चंद्रमा और सत्य। जो लोग सत्य का, न्याय का पक्ष लेते हैं उनकी प्रशंसा सभी लोग करते हैं। सत्य का साथ देने वालों को इतिहास स्वर्णिम पन्नों पर दर्ज करता है। परंतु जो लोग झूठ, असत्य का साथ देते हैं उनकी चारों ओर आलोचना होती है ।

सत्य का मार्ग धर्म का मार्ग होता है.

जीवन में सत्य का बहुत महत्व है। शास्त्रों में कहा गया है कि सत्य का मार्ग धर्म का मार्ग होता है। महाभारत के युद्ध में पांडवों की जीत इसलिए हुई क्योंकि वे सत्य का मार्ग अपना रहे थे। सत्य का मार्ग धर्म का मार्ग कहा जाता है। इसे अपना कर ही जीत पा सकते हैं।

सत्य हमेशा कड़वा होता है

यह कहावत भी बहुत प्रसिद्ध है की सच हमेशा कड़वा होता है। कुछ लोग तो सत्य देखना ही नहीं चाहते हैं। वह बस अँधेरे में जीना चाहते हैं। इसके कुछ उदाहरण है। एक पिता को अपनी बेटी का विवाह अच्छे घर में करने के लिए दहेज (धन) देना होता है। यह भी एक सत्य है। लड़के वाले खुशी-खुशी लड़की वालों से दहेज (रुपया पैसा धन) ले तो लेते हैं पर जब उन्हें अपनी लड़की के विवाह में दहेज़ देना पड़ता है तो वे इसकी निंदा करने है।

सत्य की पहचान करना आसान नहीं होता

बहुत बार व्यक्ति इतना भ्रमित हो जाता है कि वह सत्य की पहचान नहीं कर पाता है। जब उसे असफलता और भटकाव महसूस होता है तब वह सत्य की पहचान कर पाता है। उदाहरण के तौर पर आजकल की बड़ी-बड़ी कंपनियां लोगों को वस्तुएं बहुत कम दाम में या फ्री में देने का प्रस्ताव देती हैं, परंतु कुछ भी फ्री नहीं होता। हर वस्तु की कीमत जुड़ी होती है।

ईमानदार और न्यायवादी व्यक्ति ही सत्य का पालन करता है

यह देखा गया है कि जो लोग ईमानदार होते हैं वह सदैव सच बोलते हैं। झूठे बेईमान और मक्कार लोग सदैव असत्य का फायदा लेकर अपना काम बनाते हैं। हम ऐसे लोगों से बचना चाहिए जो अपने फायदे के लिए (झूठ) असत्य बोलते हैं।

सत्य के मार्ग पर चलने से आत्म संतुष्टि और मोक्ष प्राप्त होता है

दोस्तों सत्य का साथ देना इतना भी सरल नहीं होता। व्यक्ति अनेक बन्धनों से बंधा होता है। वीर पुरुष ही सत्य के मार्ग पर चल पाते हैं। यह मार्ग इतना कठिन है कि हर किसी के बस की बात नहीं है। परंतु सत्य के मार्ग पर चलकर व्यक्ति को आत्म संतुष्टि मिलती है और उसे मोक्ष और यश प्राप्त होता है।

सत्यवादी राजा हरिश्चंद्र Story of Harishchandra

अयोध्या में राजा हरिश्चंद्र राज करते थे। वह अपनी सत्य निष्ठा के लिए जाने जाते थे। एक बार उन्होंने सपना देखा कि उनके दरबार में एक तेजस्वी ब्राह्मण आया हुआ है। राजा हरिश्चंद्र ने स्वप्न में उस ब्राह्मण को अपना पूरा राज्य दान में दे दिया। वह ब्राह्मण और कोई नहीं स्वयं विश्वामित्र थे। अगली सुबह राजा इस घटना को भूल गए।

दूसरे दिन विश्वामित्र राजा हरिश्चंद्र के दरबार में आए और स्वप्न में दिए गए दान की बात कही। राजा ने सत्य का पालन किया। उन्होंने स्वप्न में अपना पूरा राज्य दान में देने की बात स्वीकार की। विश्वामित्र ने राजा हरिश्चंद्र से दक्षिणा मांगी। राजा हरिश्चन्द्र ने अपने मंत्री से राजकोष से स्वर्ण मुद्राएं लाने को कहा। परंतु विश्वामित्र ने आपत्ति की क्योंकि अपना पूरा राज्य तो वह पहले ही दान में दे चुके थे।

राजा हरिश्चंद्र ने अपना राज्य विश्वामित्र को साथ दिया। वो स्वयं को बेचने के लिए राज महल से बाहर चले गये। उन्होंने स्वयं को काशी नगर में बेचने का निर्णय किया। शाम तक उन्हें श्मशान घाट के मालिक ने खरीद लिया। राजा हरिश्चंद्र की पत्नी तारामती पूरी तरह निर्धन हो गई। वह एक साहूकार के घर चूल्हा चौका का काम करने लगी। राजा हरिश्चंद्र श्मशान पर रखवाली करने का काम करने लगे।

उन्हें जो कुछ धन प्राप्त हुआ उससे उन्होंने विश्वामित्र की दक्षिणा दे दी। एक दिन रानी के पुत्र रोहिताश्व की सांप काटने से अकाल मृत्यु हो गई। अपने पति राजा हरिश्चंद्र को डोम के रूप में कार्य करते देखकर रानी तारावती बहुत दुखी हुई। उनसे पुत्र का अंतिम संस्कार करने को कहा। परंतु राजा हरिश्चंद्र सत्य के मार्ग पर चलते रहे। उन्होंने रानी तारामती से शमशान का कर मांगा।

अंत में विवश होकर तारामती को अपनी साड़ी का आधा भाग फाड़ कर राजा हरिश्चंद्र को देना था। जैसे ही रानी तारावती अपनी साड़ी फाड़ने लगी; उसी समय आकाश में भयंकर गर्जना हुई। विश्वामित्र प्रकट हुए। उन्होंने रोहिताश्व को जीवित कर दिया।

वह प्रसन्न होकर राजा हरिश्चंद्र से बोले कि तुम्हारी परीक्षा हो चुकी है।  तुमने सत्य और धर्म का पालन किया है। इसलिए मैं तुम्हें तुम्हारा राज्य लौटाता हूं। राजा हरिश्चंद्र ने स्वयं को बेचकर भी सत्य का मार्ग नहीं छोड़ा। उनके जीवन से हम सभी को सत्य के मार्ग पर चलने की शिक्षा मिलती है।
