Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade

Battle intel list.

report 3 ff7 remake

The Stagger Effect Pt. 1 ¶

Strategy ¶.

You’ll pick this up in Chapter 3 and you’ll find that this will be the one you’ll have the most trouble completing. Essentially, you need to use a character’s unique action to raise your ATB gauge. Early on, Tifa will be your best bet at doing this, using her Chi Combo (Rise and Fall, Omnistrike, Whirling Uppercut) however if you don’t mind waiting, it’s a lot easier to use Barret’s Overcharge. If you’re going the route of Tifa, use one of her Chi Combo abilities just before your ATB reaches a charge, this should give you the charge needed and count towards your goal.

Make use of Tifa's Chi Combo and raise the ATB guage through them.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake - Battle Intel Report strategies and rewards: How to complete all of Chadley's missions

How to complete the battle simulations and earn some useful rewards.

Battle Intel Reports are a series of side-quests introduced fairly on in Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

These come from Chadley, one of the first quest givers you'll come across, who is a Shinra researcher who wants to help Cloud in his fight against the corporation.

He offers you Battle Intel Report missions to complete - and this page explains strategies for all 20 and the associated Battle Intel Report rewards .

On this page:

How to start Chadley's Battle Intel Reports in Final Fantasy 7 Remake

Battle intel report 01: monster bio pt. 1 strategy and reward, battle intel report 02: magic elements pt. 1 strategy and reward, battle intel report 03: the stagger effect pt. 1 strategy and reward, battle intel report 04: the stagger effect pt. 2 strategy and reward, battle intel report 05: combat simulation: shiva strategy and reward, battle intel report 06: monster bio pt. 2 strategy and reward, battle intel report 07: magic elements pt. 2 strategy and reward, battle intel report 08: the manipulation technique strategy and reward, battle intel report 09: monster variants pt. 1 strategy and reward, battle intel report 10: combat simulation: fat chocobo strategy and reward, battle intel report 11: monster bio pt. 3 strategy and reward, battle intel report 12: the stagger effect pt. 3 strategy and reward, battle intel report 13: refocus analysis strategy and reward, battle intel report 14: the stagger effect pt. 4 strategy and reward, battle intel report 15: combat simulation: leviathan strategy and reward, battle intel report 16: monster bio pt. 4 strategy and reward, battle intel report 17: weapon abilities strategy and reward, battle intel report 18: mp consumption strategy and reward, battle intel report 19: monster variants pt. 2 strategy and reward, battle intel report 20: combat simulation: bahamut strategy and reward.

In Chapter 3, Home Sweet Slum, Cloud will join the Neighbourhood Watch and complete a series of optional side quests, with the quests appearing as green markers on the map. Head to see Chadley, the white-haired researcher near the Weapons Shop.

report 3 ff7 remake

This will start a series of Battle Intel challenges, an ambient quest line that follows you throughout the game. Each quest rewards you with useful Materia and items that will enhance your combat abilities, so it's worth taking note of Chadley's challenges.

report 3 ff7 remake

Head to the Battle Intel tab in the pause menu to check out the challenges. Each requires different criteria and can be completed at any point in the game, so make sure to check them every so often to keep up with your progress.

If you're after all the Summons in the game, then going through the entire list is essential.

With that explained, here's how to unlock and complete Chadley's Battle Intel missions and unlock every reward...

Criteria: Assess 2 enemy types Battle Intel Report 01 Reward: Auto-Cure Materia

Complete the mission 'Chadley's Report' in Chapter 3 which you will unlock as part of the story when Cloud starts out in the Neighbourhood Watch. Use the Assess Materia that Chadley gives you to assess two enemies in battle.

You can do this by equipping the Materia in the Materia and Equipment section of the pause menu and casting the spell.

report 3 ff7 remake

Criteria: Hit enemies vulnerable to fire, ice or lightning using the appropriate magic. (Number of attacks: 1 for each element) Battle Intel Report 02 Reward: Wind Materia

To complete this report you have to hit enemies that are vulnerable to fire, ice and lightning attacks with spells respective of their weakness. The best way to go about this is to assess an enemy first so you can observe what it is weak to.

Once done you can use this to your advantage, and attune the necessary spells to stagger it. If you start a battle and don't have the right Materia equipped, press pause and give up, then come back with the proper equipment.

report 3 ff7 remake

Criteria: Use unique abilities on staggered enemies and charge the ATB gauge 10 times Battle Intel Report 03 Reward: First strike materia

You shouldn't have any trouble unlocking this naturally, as it asks you to use different abilities like Braver, Triple-Slash and more on enemies that are staggered to complete the task.

To stagger an enemy, use Tifa's basic attacks to raise the orange bar until the enemy buckles under pressure, leaving it open to damaging abilities. Make sure you're not just using the same abilities here!

report 3 ff7 remake

Criteria: Stagger 15 enemy types Battle Intel Report 04 Reward: ATB Boost Materia

This one should unlock through natural progression, but just in case, use Tifa as much as possible to stagger enemies.

She is the best character for inflicting stagger, so switch to her in battle and use her basic attacks and the 'Unbridled Strength' ability to buff her capabilities and force enemies to buckle under the pressure. Embark on side quests to find alternate enemy types than the ones you'll encounter during the story.

report 3 ff7 remake

Criteria: Defeat Shiva Battle Intel Report 05 Reward: Shiva Summon Materia

This is your first real test which you can activate by speaking to Chadley and selecting the VR Missions menu. This will pit you against the ice queen Shiva. Shiva is weak to Fire, so use that to your advantage when you're fighting her.

Equip Fire Materia on Cloud and if you've unlocked it, pair Elemental Materia with Fire Materia to deal extra damage per every sword hit. You can stagger her easily by pelting her with fire spells - then quickly follow up with Cloud's abilities like Braver and Triple-Slash to make short work of her health bar.

report 3 ff7 remake

Criteria: Assess 10 enemy types Battle Intel Report 06 Reward: Steadfast Block Materia

As mentioned previously, you should make a habit of using the Assess Materia at the start of battle on any new enemy you come across to quickly complete this report.

If you're struggling, complete side quests and inspect every corner of the map when it opens up in Chapter 3,9 and 14 to find enemies off the beaten path that you may not encounter in the story. You should get this by progressing naturally through the campaign, though!

report 3 ff7 remake

Criteria: Exploit weaknesses of 15 enemy types Battle Intel Report 07 Reward: Steal Materia

Once you've fostered the habit of using Assess on every enemy you come across, also make sure that when you notice their weakness, you swap to the corresponding Materia or even restart the battle so you can use their achilles heel against them.

Keep assessing enemy units and using the appropriate spells that exploit their weaknesses, and you should unlock this fairly quickly. If not, keep pushing through the campaign and completing side quests.

report 3 ff7 remake

Criteria: Defeat 2 or more enemies with a single attack Battle Intel Report 08 Reward: Provoke Materia

You shouldn't have any trouble getting this naturally, but consider using area of effect spells or Cloud's Braver on a group of small enemies to complete it quickly.

Other options include Limit Break's like Barrett's Catastrophe attack, which causes a gigantic explosion. The Magnify Materia will also let you hit multiple enemies with the same attack, so equip and use the corresponding spell if you're struggling.

report 3 ff7 remake

Criteria: Defeat monsters of three unique varieties Battle Intel Report 09 Reward: Synergy Materia

This one is something of an open goal, and you should unlock it as soon as you receive the report if you're far enough into the campaign. If not, explore the corners of each map when the world starts to open up and make sure you're taking down every single enemy type you can find.

report 3 ff7 remake

Criteria: Defeat a Fat Chocobo Battle Intel Report 10 Reward: Fat Chocobo Summon Materia

Another combat simulation which you can access by speaking to Chadley and selecting 'VR Missions' - this time with Aerith in tow.

The Fat Chocobo is mostly immobile, so make sure to pelt it from afar with strong elemental spells, in absence of a specific weakness. Poison Materia is super powerful here, especially if you use it early in the battle.

As soon as the Fat Chocobo starts to spawn extra characters from the depths of Final Fantasy lore, wipe them out first and then focus back on the Fat Chocobo. Use lots of strong spells to stagger it then go to town!

report 3 ff7 remake

Criteria: Assess 20 enemy types Battle Intel Report 11 Reward: Item Master Materia

Keep up your Assess habit - make it muscle memory to use this spell at the start of every battle. Eventually, as you complete side quests, combat simulations and more optional challenges you should finish this report in the later stages of the game.

report 3 ff7 remake

Criteria: Increase stagger damage bonus to 200% Battle Intel Report 12 Reward: Parry Materia

Ok, this one is pretty tricky. The game doesn't do a great job of explaining this mechanic to you, so let me explain. When you stagger an enemy by increasing the orange bar, you will see a 160% tag at the moment when it breaks.

To complete this challenge, you have to increase that percentage to 200%, but the game doesn't explain how to do that. The best way to do this is to play on Normal and fight a boss or a large creature that has a long stagger time when you break the orange bar.

report 3 ff7 remake

You can play this by ear and then replay a battle to finish this report. When you find one, you should then switch to Tifa and use Unbridled Strength by draining your ATB bar.

This will unlock her super stagger abilities (bound to the Triangle button). When the enemy is staggered, hammer the triangle button to cycle through the three stagger attacks and you should quickly increase the meter to 200%.

Sometimes you might kill the enemy before you can hit the percentage, but just keep trying and you'll eventually manage it. If you're struggling, remote control the other characters and ensure they're not attacking.

Criteria: Trigger Refocus two times Battle Intel Report 13 Reward: ATB Assist Materia

This one is easy to unlock, but the part where most people get stuck is in equipping the Materia. It'll be in your inventory anyway, so equip the Refocus Materia on your character of choice and achieve Limit in battle by weathering a long fight.

Combat simulations and Corneo Coliseum challenges are good for this. Once you manage to hit your Limit, use the Refocus Limit Break. Complete the battle, boot it up again and follow the steps to achieve Limit a second time. Use Refocus again and you're done. Simple as that!

report 3 ff7 remake

Criteria: Stagger 40 enemy types Battle Intel Report 14 Reward: ATB Stagger Materia

As this challenge starts to get more demanding, the best tip is to make sure that you're not killing new enemies before you stagger them. Make a habit of using Tifa's basic attacks to stagger enemies instead of killing them prior to that point, as her punches do a small amount of damage but raise the stagger bar significantly.

If this approach isn't working, use Assess to find their weakness and exploit that with the appropriate spells to stagger most enemies instantly.

report 3 ff7 remake

Criteria: Defeat Leviathan Battle Intel Report 15 Reward: Leviathan Summon Materia

Leviathan deals incredible damage and is fluent in water attacks, so make sure you've got resistance or an MP Absorption Materia to ward off its elemental damage.

Unfortunately, the Leviathan doesn't have any specific weaknesses, so your best bet is to equip your most powerful materia and put your best foot forward, mapping all your strongest abilities on Cloud and Tifa and attuning support spells to Barrett and Aerith who can provide support from afar with curative magic and ranged attacks.

report 3 ff7 remake

Criteria: Assess 30 enemy types Battle Intel Report 16 Reward: Enemy Skill Materia

Use the open world sections to your advantage in chapters 3, 9 and 14 and keep exploring, making sure to use Assess at the start of every battle.

If it's a struggle, simply give up and respec if you find yourself in battle and you don't have Assess equipped on anyone in your party. Again, this should unlock fairly easily if you make it into a habit.

report 3 ff7 remake

Criteria: Acquire all 16 weapon abilities Battle Intel Report 17 Reward: Skill Master Materia

This is fairly tricky to complete, but keep on the lookout for every alternative weapon in the game, and when you find them, equip them immediately and use the attached ability until you become proficient in it.

You can find your weapon ability in the Materia and Equipment screen in the pause menu. In the top right you'll see it in action, and the bar beneath will tell you your proficiency level.

Change your battle style and focus on using that ability until you get a notification telling you that you're proficient in it.

Once you manage that, you can then use that ability at any time, with any weapon. This significantly expands your pool of abilities if you acquire all 16 weapon proficiencies, so it's well worth doing as you progress through the game.

report 3 ff7 remake

Criteria: Master all 12 types of Magic Materia Battle Intel Report 18 Reward: MP Absorption Materia

The easiest way to complete this challenge is to find the Pedometer Materia at the start of Chapter 14 when you walk out of Aerith's house after a grilling from Elmyra. If you check it out in the menu you'll notice that the criteria for this special Materia asks you to take 5000 steps.

If you run around completing side quests and increasing the ticker, you'll eventually transform the Pedometer Materia into an AP Up Materia.

The AP Up Materia doubles the amount of AP you'll earn in battle, which means you can upgrade your Materia quickly by pairing whichever one isn't fully maxed out with the AP Up Materia.

Upgrade each Materia as you go on, replacing them when they're fully completed to master all 12 types of Magic Materia, which are the green orbs that denote natural elements.

The most difficult one to fill is the Revival Materia, so start grinding out that one early.

There's also Summons to unlock, most of which you get from completing Intel Battle Reports . Once you've finished the game, it's worth unlocking the remaining Final Fantasy 7 Dresses by choosing the correct options during the Johnny, Heads or Tails and Madam M massage course choices , and finding any weapon locations or Music Discs you left behind. And if you've just started, then learn what to do during the timer choice and the Lost Friends quest.

Criteria: Defeat monsters of 10 unique varieties Battle Intel Report 19 Reward: HP Absorption Materia

Keep playing through Final Fantasy 7 Remake and completing all of the optional quests and combat arena challenges to eventually catch and defeat every enemy variant.

You should unlock this through normal gameplay, but just in case, make sure you check every corner of the open-world maps and answer the call of every side quest to ensure you're seeing every enemy the game has to offer.

report 3 ff7 remake

Criteria: Defeat Bahamut Battle Intel Report 20 Reward: Bahamut Summon Materia

The dreaded Bahamut is your final combat simulation and provides a robust challenge to the player, even if their party is high-levelled with fleshed out Materia and Weapons.

As you might expect, it doesn't have any specific weaknesses, and uses a myriad of attacks in battle to unravel your party's tactics. It's a tough fight, and if you have any Revival Earrings, you may want to equip them so you can survive its killing blows.

report 3 ff7 remake

Bahamut is really tricky, but just watch for the ability where it issues a countdown, called Megaflare. When it ends it will deal a killing blow to your entire team.

You want to beat Bahamut before it can use Megaflare multiple times, so focus on staggering it early with Focused Thrust and Omnistrikes. Put your best materia and equipment forward and be careful with blocking and healing. Regardless, you can always turn down the difficulty if it's too much to handle

Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Remake How to Get All Battle Intel Reports

April 8, 2020 by PowerPyx 21 Comments

Final Fantasy VII Remake has 20 of Chadley’s Battle Intel Reports. Completing all Battle Intel Reports unlocks the Intelligence Agent trophy. They are little side tasks that require taking certain actions in combat.

The reports are given to you by a character called Chadley. You first meet him in Chapter 3 as part of the story, which cannot be missed. You will then meet him again at multiple fixed points throughout the game (Chapter 3, 8, 9, 14, 16). See all of Chadley’s Locations below.

Battle Intel Reports

:triangle:

Battle Intel Report 02: Magic Elements Pt. 1 – Condition: Hit enemies vulnerable to fire, ice, or lightning using the appropriate magic (Number of attacks: 1 for each element) / Reward: Wind Materia First you must get the Fire Materia (starting Materia for Cloud), Ice Materia (bought from Item Shop in Chapter 3), Lightning Materia (bought from Item Shop in Chapter 3). Use Assess on enemies to see their weaknesses (see Report 01). Then use the type of spell that they are weak against. Do this with all 3 of these elements. Usually humans are weak to fire, machines are weak to electricity, monsters are weak to ice.

Battle Intel Report 04: The Stagger Effect Pt. 2 – Condition: Stagger 15 enemy types. / Reward: ATB Boost Materia Staggering enemies happens when you’ve dealt enough damage to them. Then they become stunned and unable to move for a few seconds. Using the type of spell they are weak against puts them in stagger mode quickly. This will complete automatically, it’s unmissable throughout the story. It only counts different enemy types so you can’t farm it against the same enemy.

Battle Intel Report 05: Combat Simulation: Shiva – Condition: Defeat Shiva. / Reward: Shiva Summoning Materia After completing the first 4 Reports, hand them all in to Chadley and you will unlock the Shiva VR Mission. In it you must defeat Shiva to unlock her as a summoning Materia.

Battle Intel Report 06: Monster Bio Pt. 2 – Condition: Assess 10 enemy types. / Reward: Steadfast Block Materia Same as for Report 01, use Assess on 10 different enemy types.

Battle Intel Report 07: Magic Elements Pt. 2 – Condition: Exploit weaknesses of 15 enemy types. / Reward: Steal Materia Same as for Report 02, use Materia Spells to exploit the element the enemy is weak against. Use Assess to see their weakness (Humans = Fire, Machines = Electricity, Monsters = Ice, Flying Creatures = Wind).

Battle Intel Report 09: Monster Variants Pt. 1 – Condition: Defeat monsters of 3 unique varieties. / Reward: Synergy Materia This will complete automatically throughout the story, don’t worry about it. Some enemies exist in multiple variants, you’ll encounter plenty of variants automatically in forced story encounters and side quests.

Battle Intel Report 10: Combat Simulation: Fat Chocobo – Condition: Defeat a fat chocobo. / Reward: Fat Chocobo Materia After completing all the above Battle Reports, hand them in to Chadley to unlock a VR Mission against Fat Chocobo Boss. Defeat him to complete this.

Battle Intel Report 11: Monster Bio Pt. 3 – Condition: Assess 20 enemy types. / Reward: Item Master Materia Same as Report 01.

Battle Intel Report 13: Refocus Analysis – Condition: Trigger Refocus 2 times. / Reward: ATB Assist Materia Refocus is the starting Materia for Aerith when she joins your party. Automatic and unmissable from the story. Build up your ATB gauge until you can use limit break, then pick the Refocus limit break. Just make sure you got the Refocus Materia equipped.

Battle Intel Report 14: The Stagger Effect Pt. 4 – Condition: Stagger 40 enemy types. / Reward: ATB Stagger Materia Same as Report 04.

Battle Intel Report 15: Combat Simulation Leviathan – Condition: Defeat Leviathan / Reward: Leviathan Summoning Materia This unlocks after completing Report 12. Hand it in to Chadley and do his VR mission with the Leviathan boss.

Battle Intel Report 16: Monster Bio Pt. 4 – Condition: Assess 30 enemy types. / Reward: Enemy Skill Materia Same as Report 01.

Battle Intel Report 17: Weapon Abilities – Condition: Acquire all 16 weapon abilities / Reward: Skill Master Materia The official in-game text on the report says “all 16” weapon abilities, but there’s actually 24 in total. For this report you only need 16 though (so the word “all” is wrong and likely a translation error from Japanese). You must find 16 of 24 weapons and use their abilities in battle to reach maximum proficiency with all of them. See Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Remake – All Weapon Locations .

Battle Intel Report 18: MP Consumption – Condition: Master all 12 types of magic materia. / Reward: MP Absorption Materia There are 12 types of Magic Materia total (the green colored Materia). See Final Fantasy 7 (VII) – All Materia Locations . Once you got them all, make sure you always have them equipped. No need to use them, just finishing a fight gives you AP towards all Materia you have equipped with everyone in the party. An easy way to farm this is after the story in Chapter Select, load up Chapter 9 and repeat Colosseum Matches on Classic Difficulty. On classic you don’t need to press any buttons as the AI wins for you automatically. After the story you also earn AP three times faster through Chapter Select.

Battle Intel Report 19: Monster Variants Pt. 2 – Condition: Defeat 10 unique varieties. / Reward: HP Absorption Materia Same as Report 09. This will complete automatically when you do all side quests and complete the story. Don’t worry about this.

Battle Intel Report 20: Combat Simulation Bahamut – Condition: Bahamut / Reward: Bahamut Materia This unlocks after completing the above 19 Battle Reports. Defeat Bahamut in Chadley’s VR Mission.

Those are all 20 Battle Intel Reports in Final Fantasy 7 Remake. You will get the Intelligence Agent trophy for having completed them all.

For all other Collectibles and anything needed for 100% completion, check out the  Final Fantasy VII Remake Wiki & Strategy Guide .

20 unlocks Bahamut summon in VR. For anyone struggling with the 200% stagger, use FIFA’s ability to increase her strength, and when an enemy is staggered, use her special attack (triangle) and you’ll see the percentage go up. You need a tough enemy usually who isn’t going to die before you get enough hits in, and hopefully the others in your party are busy elsewhere or else they tend to pile on and end up killing your target. Revive takes forever to master as well, which you need for mastering all the magic types. You can obtain an AP Up materia part way through the game (at Tifas house, it is a pedometer that needs 5000 steps, and will then turn into the AP materia. This doubles to AP gained to a linked materia).

April 9, 2020 at 12:02 pm

Oops, I meant Aerith’s house you obtain the pedometer/AP up. Excuse my autocorrect changing Tifa to FIFA 😅

Battle Intel Report 3 is wrong. The unique ability is the triangle skill. So you need to max out the ATB bar on a staggered mob using skills like Clouds Punisher and Barret’s Overcharge to get credit.

' src=

April 10, 2020 at 1:02 pm

April 10, 2020 at 8:57 pm

You don’t have to use ten different triangle abilities. You can use the same one for all 10. The discription of the report is just poorly worded imo. Each character has one “unique ability”, which can be used repeatedly for the report. I found Barret’s the easiest. You can actually have this report done very easily using Barret’s Overcharge on staggered mobs to fill your ATB before you get the report. I used Cloud to nearly stagger the mob, swapped to Barret to finish staggering, and hit Overcharge to get the report very easily.

I got all my unique abilities not by the triangle moves but by going to abilities either through hotkey with L1 or just classic way by using x command

April 10, 2020 at 4:33 pm

Battle Intel Report 03 solution is incorrect, I got this one done with the first sword I got (Iron Sword) very early in the game. Even between Barret, Tifa, and Cloud at this point, that’s only four different weapons I’ve used abilities for.

April 10, 2020 at 6:03 pm

How did you do it?

' src=

April 11, 2020 at 1:44 am

Can someone help out with mission 3? Really don’t know what I missing. Imagine I am being an idiot but I really don’t understand exactly how you get this. Randomly got one but can’t get anymore.

Do you use an ability when the ATB is full or?

April 11, 2020 at 1:36 pm

Ok for a pretty foolproof way to do number 3. When you find Chadley in chapter 8 you can fight VR Shiva. Long fight but you can stagger her, make sure you have low ATB then switch modes and spam heavy attack. You should be able to get 1-2 parts towards completion. You can keep fighting her over and over. Boring but it really just gets it out the way.

' src=

April 13, 2020 at 8:52 pm

Build the ATB bar while an enemy is staggered with you’re heavy attack. Tifa’s is the easiest, stagger with normal attacks and then just feel an ATB with her uppercut attack.

Just wanted to ask if anyone had a problem with the Leviathan fight glitching? In chapter 13 I unlocked it by doing battle intel 12 but when I got to chapter 14 and checked with Chadley the vr fight doesn’t appear anymore. Is it because I can only access the vr fight in chapter 13?

April 16, 2020 at 11:52 am

I played Leviathan fight in Chapter 14. You meet Chadley again in Chapter 16, check with him there. Also try to advance the story of Chapter 14, maybe that fixes it, or replay Chapter 13 after the story in Chapter Selection. Might just be a little bit glitchy.

when does battle report 17 appear on the list? i have all but 2 weapons and am proficient in them all, but the report isn’t on my list yet

Final fantasy vii remake: how to complete the battle reports.

In Final Fantasy VII Remake's Chapter 3, Chadley will ask Cloud to complete a number of Battle Reports for various rewards. Here's how.

The Midgar section of  Final Fantasy VII  was relatively linear. As  Final Fantasy VII Remake  expands the Midgar section to the length of a full game, the developers decided to add sidequests in order to fill out the runtime.

Players will run into a wannabe Shinra researcher named Chadley in Chapter 3 who will periodically appear during the less busy segments of the story. Chadley will give Cloud quests to do, which involve completing Battle Reports. The requirements for some of the Battle Reports can be tricky, which is why we've created a helpful guide that outlines all of Chadley's quests in  Final Fantasy VII Remake.

Battle Report 1

Use the Assess ability on two enemies.

Reward: Auto-Cure Materia

Battle Report 2

Hit an enemy's elemental weakness with the corresponding spell. This has to be done with fire, ice, and lightning spells, so the player needs the correct Materia for each element. The Assess ability can tell the player when an enemy is weak to an element.

Reward: Wind Materia

Battle Report 3

Hit a staggered enemy with abilities and charge the ATB gauge without using attacks on ten separate occasions.

Reward: First Strike Materia

Battle Report 4

Stagger fifteen different types of enemies.

Reward: ATB Boost Materia

Battle Report 5

Defeat Shiva. This will unlock automatically when Chadley introduces VR Missions.

Reward: The Shiva Materia

Battle Report 6

Use the Assess ability on ten different types of enemies.

Reward: Steadfast Block Materia

Battle Report 7

Use magic to hit the elemental weaknesses of fifteen different types of enemies. This is the same as Battle Report 2, but it's based on the number of enemy types.

Reward: Steal Materia

Battle Report 8

Defeat more than one enemy in a single attack. Cloud's Punisher mode has attacks with a lot more range than his operator mode, so this is the optimal way of completing this report as quickly as possible.

Reward: Provoke Materia

Battle Report 9

Defeat three different unique monsters. This is an easy one to complete and should happen automatically, as you will encounter many of these throughout the game.

Reward: Synergy Materia

Battle Report 10

Defeat the Fat Chocobo VR Mission.

Reward: The Fat Chocobo Materia

Battle Report 11

Use the Assess ability on twenty different types of enemies.

Reward: Item Master Materia

Battle Report 12

Reach 200% on the stagger meter in a battle. The easiest way to do this is to challenge one of the VR Mission bosses and repeatedly use Tifa's Unbridled Strength ability with two full ATB bars and using her triangle button attacks. It's best to do this just as the boss goes into its stagger mode.

Reward: Parry Materia

Battle Report 13

Use the Refocus Limit Break. Aerith will have the Refocus Materia when she joins the party. Equip the Refocus Materia on a party member and use it when they fill up the Limit Break meter.

Reward: ATB Assist Materia

Battle Report 14

Stagger forty different types of enemy. This one should be unlocked gradually over the course of the game.

Reward: ATB Stagger Materia

Battle Report 15

Complete the Leviathan VR Mission.

Reward: The Leviathan Materia

Battle Report 16

Use the Assess ability on thirty different types of enemy.

Reward: Enemy Skill Materia

Battle Report 17

Find all sixteen weapons that are not given to the player over the course of the story and acquire their unique abilities.

Reward: Skill Master Materia

Battle Report 18

Master the Fire, Ice, Lightning, Wind, Cleansing, Revival, Healing, Poison, Barrier, Binding, Subversion, and Time Materia. These can be found or purchased throughout the game and they will become mastered if the player has them equipped during battles.

Reward: MP Absorbption Materia

Battle Report 19

Defeat ten unique enemies. This should be unlocked over the course of the game.

Reward: HP Absorbption Materia

Battle Report 20

Complete the Bahamut VR Mission.

Reward: The Bahamut Materia

Final Fantasy VII Remake is available now for PlayStation 4.

Final Fantasy VII Remake - Battle Intel Guide

Battle Intel missions will be unlocked when you unlock your first side quest. Chadley in the guy to talk with (he is also the one who gives a side quest). You need to fulfill different requirements to finish his intels and that will usually reward you with unique/rare materia, or even summon materias. Many things are connected here, you will need to do side quests for unique monster entries etc.

Do not forget, when you unlock some materia by completing his reports, you can buy additional pieces from him.

Final Fantasy VII Remake - Quests Guide

Monster Bio Pt.1

Unlocked by talking to Chadley. You will get Assess materia from him. Equip it on your weapon and use in battle as Ability to scan enemies. Simply scan 2 types of enemies. Reward: Auto-Cure Materia

Magic Elements Pt.2

Unlocked after completing Report 01. When you Assess an enemy (or by checking enemy info of assessed enemies), you can see vulnerabilities of certain enemy. Attack with at least one of those to finish this one. Reward: Wind Materia

The Stagger Effect Pt. 1

Unlocked after completing Report 01. When you stagger an enemy, use different abilities on them. New weapons mean new abilities, so combine with other character to collect 10 and use them as explained. You can also use magic and everything you have at your disposal. Reward: First Strike Materia

The Stagger Effect Pt. 2

Unlocked after completing Report 01. You need to stagger 15 different enemy types. The best way is to assess them and read what will stagger them. Use that strategy and do that on 15 enemy types. Reward: ATB Boost Materia

Combat Simulation: Shiva

Unlock by completing 3 battle intels and talking to Chadley. Finish 3 reports and talk to Chadley in Sector 5 Slums Area. This will unlock VR Missions. Finish VR mission and defeat Shiva. Reward: Reward: Shiva Materia

Monster Bio Pt. 2

Unlock by completing 3 battle intels and talking with Chadley. Asses 10 enemy types. Like the one above, this requires to assess 10 enemy types. Reward: Steadfast Block Materia

Magic Elements Pt. 2

Unlock by completing 3 battle intels and talking with Chadley. You need to exploit weaknesses of 15 enemy types. Simply asses the enemy and attack with magic/attack that is its weakness. Reward: Steal Materia

The Manipulation Technique

Unlock by completing 3 battle intels and talking with Chadley. Defeat 2 or more enemes with a single attack. Tripple slash ability works wonders on some weak enemies. Reward: Provoke Materia

Monster Variants Pt. 1

Unlock by completing 3 battle intels and talking with Chadley. Defeat 3 monster of 3 unique varieteties. If you completed first 6 side quest, you will have 2 (Wrath Hound and Doomrat). You can see which are unique by target icon in your Enemy Intel menu. Reward: Synergy Materia

Combat Simulation: Fat Chocobo

Unlocked by completing first 9 of his reports (check above). That will unlock this VR mission, so go and play it. Defeat this summon to get him. Reward: Fat Chocobo Materia

Monster Bio Pt. 3

Unlocked by... Assess 20 enemy types. Easy enough. Reward: Item Master Materia

The Stagger Effect Pt. 3

Unlocked by... Increase stagger damage bonus to 200%. I did this with Tifa in Colisseum, but the best place is Fat Chocobo VR Mission. You need to find some strong enemy and stagger him. After that, use Tifa's special attack (triangle button). Use Overcharge few times to change this attack (to strenghten it) and unleash couple of times on staggered enemy. The more you overcharge it, the more it fills the stagger. Special attack without overcharge charges by 5%. Reward: Parry Materia

Refocus Analysis

Unlocked by.. Trigger Refocus 2 times. To use Refocus in battle, you need to have Limit break opportunity and instead of your limit break, use this one. Of course, you only need to have this materia (Refocus comes with Aerith in Chapter 8) equipped on that character. Reward: ATB Assist Materia

The Stagger Effect Pt. 14

Unlocked by Stagger 40 enemy types. Well, self-explanatory. Make sure to stagger them as you go! Reward: ATB Stagger Materia

Combat Simulation: Leviathan

Unlocked in Chapter 14 before going into the Sewers for story. You also need to complete certain number of battle intels (I had 1-14 and nr. 16 done at this point, but 1-14 are required to get this one). Beat Leviathan to get it. Just spam Thunder magic when he is focusing, that will interrupt his special attack. Reward: Leviathan Materia

Monster Bio Pt. 4

Unlocked by... Asses 30 enemy types. Easy one. Reward: Enemy Skill Materia

Weapon Abilities

Aquire all 16 weapon abilities. So, you need 4 weapons per character. Final Fantasy VII Remake - All Weapons and Skills Locations Guide Reward: Skill Master Materia

MP Consumption

Unlocked by... Master all 12 types of magic materia. Those are: Healing, Cleansing, Revival, Fire, Ice, Lightning, Wind, Poison, Barrier, Binding, Subversion and Time Materia. FF7 Remake - Materia Guide Reward: MP Absorption Materia

Monster Variants Pt. 2

Unlocked by... Defeat monsters of 10 unique varieties. This is easy if you aim to finish all side quests, you will get more than 10 of them. Final Fantasy VII Remake - Quests Guide Reward: HP Absorption Materia

Combat Simulation: Bahamut

Unlocked by completing all other Battle Intel missions. That will unlock this VR mission. Defeat Bahamut. Reward: Bahamut Materia
