திரை விமர்சனம்: பாட்னர்

ரூ.25 லட்சம் கடன் வாங்கி தொழில் தொடங்கும் ஸ்ரீதர் (ஆதி), நஷ்டமடைகிறார். கடன் கொடுத்தவர், ‘பணத்தைக் கொடு, இல்லை என்றால் தங்கை யை திருமணம் செய்து கொடு’ என்று கேட்கிறார். இதனால் பணம் சம்பாதிக்க, நண்பன் கல்யாணை (யோகிபாபு) தேடி, சென்னை வருகிறார் ஸ்ரீதர். கல்யாண், ஹைடெக் திருட்டு வேலை பார்ப்பது தெரியவருகிறது. வேறு வழியில்லாமல் அவருடன் சேர்கிறார். இவர்கள் ஒரு மெகா திருட்டை செய்தால், ரூ.50 லட்சம் கிடைக்கும் என்ற ஆஃபர் வருகிறது. சரி என்கிறார்கள். அவர்கள் திருடப்போகும் இடம் விஞ்ஞானியின் (பாண்டியராஜன்) லேப். அங்கு நடக்கும் குளறுபடியால், கல்யாணுக்கு ஊசி ஒன்று குத்திவிடுகிறது. விளைவு, ஆணாக இருந்த கல்யாண், மறுநாள் கல்யாணி (ஹன்சிகா) ஆகிவிடுகிறார். இதனால் ஏற்படும் களேபரங்களும் அவர் மீண்டும் கல்யாணாக மாறினாரா இல்லையா என்பதும்தான் படம்.

சுவாரஸ்யமான இந்த ஒன் லைனை வைத்துக்கொண்டு காமெடி படம் தர முயற்சி செய்திருக்கிறார் இயக்குநர் மனோஜ் தாமோதரன். அதற்கான சாத்தியக் கூறுகள் அதிகம் இருந்தாலும், அதில் பாதிதான் வெற்றி பெற்றிருக்கிறார். ஆண், பெண்ணாக மாறுவதுதான் கதையின் மையம். ஆனால், இந்த விஷயமே இடைவேளைக்கு முன் தான் நடக்கிறது. அதுவரை நடக்கும் கதைகளில், எண்ணி சில இடங்களில் மட்டும் சிரித்துவிட்டு, அப்புறம்? என்று உட்கார்ந்திருக்க வேண்டியிருக்கிறது. பின் பகுதி கதையில் கிளைமாக்ஸுக்கு முந்தைய காட்சிகளில் மட்டும், காமெடி நன்றாகக் கைகொடுத்திருக்கிறது.

ஆதி, வழக்கம்போல சிறப்பான நடிப்பை வழங்கியிருக்கிறார், காதலி பாலக் லால்வாணி மற்றும் ஹன்சிகாவிடம் மாட்டிக்கொண்டு படுகிற தவிப்பு ரசிக்க வைக்கிறது. அவர் கதாபாத்திரம் வலுவானதாக இல்லாததால், அதற்கு மேல் அவராலும் என்ன செய்ய முடியும்? யோகிபாபுவின் காமெடி சில இடங்களில் மட்டுமே சிரிக்க முடிகிறது.

ஹன்சிகாதான் மொத்தப் படத்துக்கும் ஆறுதல். பெண் தோற்றத்தில் ஆணாக அவர் படும் ரகளையை ரசிக்கலாம். அவர் உடல் மொழியும் நடிப்பும் ரசனை. நாயகி பாலக் லால்வாணிக்கு அதிக வாய்ப்பில்லை.

ரோபோ சங்கர், தங்கதுரை, அகஸ்டின் ஆகியோரின் உருவக் கேலி மற்றும் இரட்டை அர்த்த வசனங்கள் சிரிப்புக்குப் பதில் எரிச்சலையே தருகின்றன. அமைச்சர் ரவிமரியா, விஞ்ஞானி பாண்டியராஜன், யோகி பாபுவின் காதலி 'மைனா' நந்தினி,திருட்டு கம்பெனி ஹெச்.ஆர். முனிஷ்காந்த், ஜான்விஜய் என அனைவரையும் காமெடிக்கு பயன்படுத்தி இருக்கிறார்கள்.

சந்தோஷ் தயாநிதியின் பின்னணி இசையும் ஷபீர் அகமதுவின் ஒளிப்பதிவும் படத்துக்கு ஓரளவு உதவி இருக்கின்றன. காமெடிக்கு லாஜிக் எதற்கு என்று நினைத்தவர்கள், திரைக்கதையை இன்னும் நகைச்சுவையாக எழுதியிருந்தால், நாமும் இந்தப் படத்தின் ‘பாட்னர்’ ஆகியிருக்கலாம்.

Partner review: Hansika scores the brownie points in this light-hearted entertainer

Aadhi Pinnisetty and Yogi Babu combine well, in the beginning, to keep the film engaging and entertaining.

Director Manoj Damodharan seems to have made his film Partner , a simple comedy, with the sole ambition of entertaining the masses.

The movie revolves around two friends — Sridhar (Aadhi Pinisetty) and Kalyan (Yogi Babu). It is a simple light-hearted entertainer, that doesn’t pay too much attention to logic and has no message whatsoever to offer audiences.

An entrepreneur, Sridhar suffers huge losses in his shrimp farming business. He comes to the city to meet his friend Kalyan.

Kalyan works in a firm that looks like an IT office but, in reality, is basically a bunch of thieves, fraudsters and scamsters working together to cheat gullible people.

Sridhar’s sudden trip is out of desperation. He has to arrange a huge sum of money which he takes as a loan for his business from a financier. The financier demands that either Sridhar pay him back or give the hand of his sister in marriage to him.

A scientist and an experiment.

In another part of the same city, there lives a scientist (Pandiarajan) who carries out research on animals. His research enables him to find a method through which the traits and behaviours of one animal can be transferred to another.

Looking to steal this finding and make a fortune by selling it in the international market is John Vijay (John Vijay), a former associate of the scientist.

John Vijay, a rich businessman now, employs three simpletons — Robo Shankar (Samadhanam), Thangadurai (Annadhanam), and Augustin (BlackBerry) — to steal the chip vital for the transfer.

They fail in their mission. As a result, John Vijay approaches Kalyan’s firm to complete the task.

Sridhar, who is in desperate need of money to stop his sister’s forced wedding, sees this as an opportunity to make money and convinces Kalyan to join him in this effort.

However, things get out of hand when both friends try to steal the formula. A series of unexpected developments occur and Kalyan gets accidentally turned into a woman (Hansika). What happens then is what Partner is all about.

Funny in parts .

When all that a film has to offer is comedy, one can do nothing but just smile and while away time. However, even for this to happen, most jokes in the film must work.

To director Manoj Damodharan’s credit, he creates a number of situations in the plot that provide enough scope for comedians to deliver genuinely funny jokes.

Sadly though, not all comedians make good use of the opportunities that come their way. While some jokes work, others don’t.

However, as the story progresses, the responsibility of providing the laughs falls heavily on the shoulders of actress Hansika who does a reasonably good job.

The portions where Yogi Babu turns into Hansika are quite interesting with Hansika having to reproduce Yogi Babu’s body language.

To her credit, Hansika does a fine job in several sequences and to some degree, succeeds in her mission.

Ravi Mariya as Agni Kunju and Robo Shankar as Samadhanam also provide entertainment. However, despite their best efforts the film doesn’t impress.

Partner is meant for those who wish to watch a film that doesn’t look to preach and has a few laughs to offer.

Hansika is the charmer in this light-hearted entertainer that delivers few laughs here goes our partner tamil movie review..

Debutant director Manoj Damodharan’s Partner is a timepass comedy that does not offer great strokes or story, but a handful of laughs do come along.

The film is about two friends who join a company who specialize in different forms of theft, and while attempting to steal different things, they come across a scientist who is forming a machine that entirely changes the visual look of the person. When Yogi Babu mistakenly sits on the machine, he transforms into a young woman (Hansika). The rest of the story is based on the comedy that takes place between the characters.

Partner does not offer much in terms of its plot progression in the first half, as there is hardly anything to laugh at here. It is only after the Hansika – Yogi Babu transformation that the film turns funnier, as there are a lot of comic sequences in the second that bring about laughter. The film is decent in terms of being an entertainer, at best.

Aadhi has done a Tamil film after a long time, and he has abided by the rules of a comic entertainer well and has performed well. Yogi Babu is not in the form we have seen in recent times, and the film lights up well when he transforms into Hansika in the second half.

The visuals are adequate, and the music by Santhosh Dhayanidhi does not hamper the proceedings. The short runtime of the film also helps.

On the whole, Partner is a decent entertainer that you can watch without complaining if you are looking for a timepass film.  Partner Tamil Movie Review by Team Only Kollywood

Partner movie: All fun and games

According to Aadhi Pinisetty, shooting for his upcoming comedy film Partner felt like being on vacation. He reveals that the upbeat mood of the film’s shoot was a refreshing change from the stressful atmosphere usually found in film sets.

“Since it is a comedy with a large ensemble cast, the mood on the sets was light-hearted. At first, I asked director Manoj Damodharan a lot of questions about the emotional state and behaviour of my character before each scene. But by the third day, I realised that the goal was not to prepare but to create fun moments on screen with the others. To discover that there was no major prep involved, unlike my previous films, was new for me. However, I soon eased into this style of working and started enjoying it,” says Aadhi.

Several fun incidents happened even between shoots. On one occasion, a sequence had to be shot in a large, multi-storeyed corporate office complex. “One office floor had been assigned to us for shooting. Once the shot was ready, I headed to that office on a particular floor. As I walked in, I noticed how wonderfully realistic the set looked. I admired the way everyone was working so earnestly at their computers.” But when everyone started staring at him, Aadhi realised something was amiss.

“Someone came up and asked me who I wanted to meet. By then I realised I had walked into a real office, on the wrong floor. When I explained, they all laughed. We had a brief chat and many came up and took selfies. After that, I went to the correct floor where the shoot was scheduled. It was a fun mix-up moment.” Due to the large ensemble cast, the actors who were not shooting for a particular scene had lots of time to chill out on sets. “If it was a serious film, between shots we would be in the mood of our character, learning lines or thinking about our performance.

But on the Partner sets, we all wanted to be in the mood of the film, so that the camaraderie would translate onto the screen. So, one activity we all did in abundance, was playing games. From Uno Flip and Ludo to Table Tennis and Ping Pong we played it all. We even improvised and invented our own games with disposable cups and had prizes for the winner.”

One time, Aadhi, Hansika Motwani and Pallak Lalwani had to shoot an intense scene in a small room. “Everyone had a continuous exchange of dialogues. It was a very noisy scene. The director was in another room with the monitor. Hansika and Pallak were taking the prompting and shouting their lines. After a while, I realised something was wrong. The room was small and the prompters had hardly any space on the sides. So, amidst all the commotion, they interchanged their dialogues by mistake. So, Hansika had picked up Pallak’s dialogues and Pallak was reciting Hansika’s lines. When the director too noticed, we all had a good laugh.”

Another time, Aadhi had to drive a bike with a Contessa car following him. “The shoot was in a maze of small lanes on the ECR. After several turns, I reached a dead end. I realised then that the Contessa car was nowhere in the vicinity and no camera was filming me. I thought I had driven too fast and left them behind.” Retracing his steps, Aadhi found that the car had broken down midway and he had been too engrossed in navigating the tiny lanes, to notice it.

Every day Aadhi looked forward to the shoot, “Each day was full of spontaneous, fun moments with Yogi Babu, Ravi Maria, John Vijay and the others. It was like going on a holiday. That camaraderie between all of us has contributed to the comedy in the film.”

However, the twist in the tale comes when Sridhar and Kalyan find themselves caught in a perilous mission. They are tasked with assisting a notorious criminal in stealing a highly coveted chip from a scientist. This mission plunges them into a world of chaos and unexpected events.

The narrative takes a delightful twist when an experiment at the scientist’s lab leads to an astonishing transformation. Kalyan, portrayed by Hansika Motwani, undergoes a sudden and inexplicable gender transformation, becoming an adorable girl. This transformation sets the stage for a series of comedic sequences that drive the plot forward.

Amidst the laughter and mayhem, a central question lingers: Can Sridhar overcome his financial woes and secure the funds he desperately needs? Furthermore, can they track down the scientist and reverse Kalyan’s unforeseen transformation? The concept of a sudden gender change experienced by one of the lead characters adds an intriguing layer to the story, offering opportunities for rib-tickling moments amid the ensuing chaos.

However, the director, Manoj Damodaran, falls short in weaving captivating instances that could fully immerse the audience in the envisioned world. Despite its potential for chaos and comedy, the impact of “Partner” often falls flat. While humor wanes in the pre-interval sequences, decent performances by the lead actors and the sequences leading up to the climax salvage the film to some extent.

The film’s dialogue writing is a significant letdown. Apart from the protagonist, the supporting actors frequently deliver double entendres that demean the opposite sex. The recurring commentary on contemporary women, approximately every 10 minutes, becomes tiresome. Additionally, it takes an entire hour for the director to introduce a significant conflict into the plot. Even the subsequent sequences struggle to effectively establish a deep connection among the central characters.

Aadhi Pinisetty and Hansika Motwani both deliver performances in line with their respective roles’ requirements. Aadhi’s portrayal of Sridhar, the desperate friend entangled in this chaotic mission, is competent. He manages to maintain the audience’s engagement even when the humor falters. On the other hand, Hansika brings charm and innocence to her role as the transformed Kalyan. Her expressions and comic timing add a touch of authenticity to her character.

In terms of technical aspects, the film is passable, though it contributes minimally to elevating the script. The cinematography, music, and editing are functional but do not stand out as exceptional. The visual effects used to depict the gender transformation are adequate but lack the finesse seen in high-budget productions.

Additionally, the film’s sequences leading up to the climax provide a much-needed boost to the narrative. These moments inject a sense of urgency and intrigue into the story, helping to maintain the audience’s interest.
