500 Words Essay On My Goal In Life

Everybody has a life goal. The aim or aspiration of man is his inner desire. One will not take any action if his or her goals are unclear.

What Is A Goal

As a noun, "goal" has other meanings. A goal is something you strive to achieve after working hard and persistently towards it.

Types Of Goals

Mastery goals | A mastery goal, such as "I will score higher in this event next time," is one that someone sets to attain or master a certain skill.

Performance-approach goals | A performance-approach goal is one where the person aims to outperform their peers. This kind of objective might be to improve one's appearance by dropping 5 pounds or to receive a better performance evaluation.

Importance Of A Goal

A goal is similar to a specific objective, the anticipated outcome that directs behaviour, or an end, which is a thing, whether it be a tangible thing or an abstract thing, that has inherent worth.

Everyone should have a life goal. When you have a goal, you work hard every day to attain it and live for it. And when you succeed in those efforts, you feel more confident.

Goals provide us a path to follow. We can hold ourselves accountable by having goals. We are able to clarify what we genuinely desire in life when we set goals and strive toward obtaining them. We can better organise our priorities by setting goals.

Goals can be long-term and short-term. For instance, finishing your schoolwork might be a short-term goal. Learning a musical instrument, pursuing a profession as a doctor, or other long-term goals examples.

Due to the length of time required and the fact that we pick our professional objective, long-term goals play crucial roles in life. The most significant effects of choosing a certain career occur both during and after the effort to attain it.

Setting goals encourages us to create plans of action that will help us reach the desired level of performance.

He later put forth a lot of effort on his assignment and finished it on time, impressing the dean. Ask yourself: How did you move forward after that? Then, share your opinions on whether a failure signifies that it would be best for someone to find a new goal altogether or try again with stronger determination and a better-calculated strategy.

Which is better: aiming for a lofty goal that opens risks of failure, which many fear, or light goals that might do little in stretching out your potential? Answer this by listing the pros and cons of each. Then help readers strike the optimum balance between a loft or light goal. Cite examples of lofty and light goals to help your readers better differentiate the two.

For this essay, take a deep dive into the poverty reduction efforts of your government. Then, look at the other side of the fence by listening to what critics say about the program. Take note of their laments about bottlenecks in the program and what more can be done to attain poverty reduction goals swiftly.

How Do I Write An Essay About Achieving My Goals?

Introduction.

Writing an essay about achieving your goals can be a powerful exercise in self-reflection and motivation. Whether you are writing for a class assignment, a college application, or simply for personal development, this article will guide you through the process of creating a well-structured and compelling essay on this topic. By breaking down the steps involved and providing helpful tips, you’ll be equipped to express your aspirations, outline an action plan, and highlight the significance of achieving your goals.

Step 1: Set Clear Goals

Achieving your goals starts with clearly defining what you want to accomplish. Take some time to reflect on your aspirations and think about what truly matters to you. Your goals may include academic achievements, career aspirations, personal growth, or any other area of your life that you wish to improve. Ensure that your goals are specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART goals). By setting clear goals, you will be able to better articulate your vision in your essay.

Step 2: Plan Your Essay Structure

Before diving into the writing process, it’s essential to plan the structure of your essay. This will ensure that your ideas flow smoothly and logically, engaging the reader from start to finish. Generally, an essay consists of three main parts: an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion.

The Introduction: Begin your essay with a captivating introduction. Grab the reader’s attention with an anecdote, a relevant quote, or a thought-provoking question. Clearly state your goals and the significance they hold for you. Conclude the introduction with a concise thesis statement that presents the main focus of your essay.

Body Paragraphs: The body of your essay offers an opportunity to elaborate on your goals and the steps you are taking or planning to take to achieve them. Divide your body paragraphs based on the subtopics or themes you want to discuss. For each paragraph, present a specific goal, provide relevant details, and explain why it is important to you. Consider incorporating examples, personal experiences, or research to support your statements and make your essay more persuasive.

The Conclusion: Wrap up your essay with a strong conclusion that reinforces the main points you have discussed. Avoid introducing new information here. Instead, highlight the potential impact of achieving your goals and leave the reader with a final thought or call to action.

Step 3: Conduct Research

If your essay requires factual information or expert opinions, conducting research will provide you with valuable insights to enhance your writing. Utilize reputable sources such as scholarly articles, books, or credible websites to gather information that supports your aspirations. When referencing sources, make sure to cite them properly using the appropriate citation style (e.g., MLA, APA).

Step 4: Draft and Revise

Now that you have a plan and have conducted research, begin writing the initial draft of your essay. Start with the body paragraphs, as they contain the core content of your essay. Ensure each paragraph follows a logical flow and connects back to the main focus of your essay.

Once you have completed your draft, take time to review and revise. Pay attention to grammar, spelling, and sentence structure. Ensure that your ideas are presented clearly and cohesively. Consider seeking feedback from others, such as teachers, family members, or friends, to gain different perspectives and improve your essay even further.

Step 5: Add Personal Reflection

In addition to presenting your goals and action plans, be sure to include personal reflections throughout your essay. Explain why achieving these goals is meaningful to you and how they align with your values and aspirations. By sharing your personal insights and emotions, you will create a more engaging and authentic essay.

Step 6: Edit and Proofread

Before submitting your essay, it is crucial to edit and proofread your work. Review your essay for any errors, both grammatical and typographical. Ensure that your ideas are coherent and logical, and that your writing flows smoothly. Consider using online grammar checkers or seeking assistance from a professional editor if needed.

Writing an essay about achieving your goals allows you to reflect on your aspirations, establish a concrete plan, and demonstrate your determination to succeed. By following the steps outlined in this guide, you can create a compelling essay that effectively communicates your goals and motivates both yourself and your readers.

How To Write A Powerful Essay On Achieving Goals (+ Example)

Author: Rafal Reyzer

Writing an essay on achieving your goals can be a great opportunity to share your accomplishments.

Goal setting is a useful strategy to get the most out of life and set yourself up for success. However, there are many things to remember regarding proper goal setting and achievement. When writing a blm argumentative essay , it’s important to provide context on the history of the Black Lives Matter movement and the issues it seeks to address. This can help the reader understand the significance of the essay’s thesis and arguments. Let’s get to grips with the process of goal setting and come up with a powerful essay on achieving goals.

Structuring Your Essay on Achieving Goals:

How to write an introduction.

Any academic essay must have a strong beginning. It will establish your point of view and inform the reader of what to expect. An introduction should:

  • Attract the reader’s attention with a ‘hook’. You can achieve this by quoting a shocking statistic, quote, fact, or controversial statement.
  • Give some background or historical information about the topic. For instance, psychological theories and models on effective goal setting and achievement.
  • Present your thesis (main point of your essay) e.g., “Rewarding achievement is the most effective means by which employers can increase workplace productivity”.

How to Write The Main Body of Your Essay

There should be a minimum of three paragraphs in your essay. Each one is a ‘mini-essay with an introduction, body, and conclusion. Each should include:

  • Topic sentence: inform the reader about the subject of the paragraph, e.g., “how to measure goal attainment”, or “effective workplace goal setting”.
  • Evidence sentences: inform the reader about the evidence you’ve uncovered, e.g., a business model and study on effective workplace goal setting.
  • Analysis sentences : inform the reader of your thoughts on the evidence and its significance. For example, “Model A clearly shows how employers are to set realistic goals with employees and this model has proven to be successful in study x”.
  • Concluding sentence: summarize what you’ve learned about the topic and how it relates to the essay question. For instance, “Setting realistic goals for employees is straightforward and likely to increase successful goal achievement in the workplace”.

How to Write a Conclusion

  • To signal the essay is ending, use a suitable word or phrase , such as ‘In summary’ or ‘With all of this in mind’.
  • Reread your introduction to remind yourself of your thesis. After that, either paraphrase or respond to the thesis.
  • Summarize the key points stated in each of the assignment’s paragraphs. So, if you wrote three key body paragraphs, the conclusion should include three main themes.
  • Give your readers a concluding line on the main issue and possibly attempt to urge them to further ponder the topic in its wider context.

Example Of An Essay About Achieving Your Goals

So, let’s put all this information together and check an example essay on achieving goals: Effective Methods to Increase the Likelihood of Goal Achievement Achieving goals can be extremely rewarding and result in a more satisfying and successful life. Many people set goals yet cannot achieve them. However, there are ways to avoid or reduce the likelihood of missing the mark. By ensuring that goals are SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound), using visualization techniques, and rewarding goal attainment, the chances of success increase. First, ensure your goals are SMART. This means that goals should be specific and measurable in terms of outcomes, e.g., test scores . Goals should be achievable and realistic to the person’s capabilities and resources available. Also, a goal should apply to the person’s work, education, hobbies, or interests and include a deadline. If there is no specificity of outcome, there’s no real way to see how someone has improved—or how they might be falling short. And if goals are not SMART, they are more difficult to achieve. Second, by imagining and visualizing the feelings and outcomes of achievement of the goal , the likelihood of high achievement increases. The imagination can be a powerful tool. Imagining the feelings of accomplishment helps to increase self-efficacy and motivation. A Canadian study found that imagery skills moderate the effect of mental practice on self-efficacy. The effects of visualization techniques are valuable in goal achievement. Third, once the goal has been accomplished, a reward is required. Getting a reward for hard work will increasingly motivate an individual to set and achieve the next goal. The offer of a reward gives employees and students an extra boost of motivation. Rewards help the cycle of goal setting and goal achieving to continue. In summary, by ensuring the goals set are SMART, visualizing and rewarding success, goal achievement becomes more likely. Achieving goals is a cyclic process that’s possible to master if the right method is in place.

The Basics of Setting and Achieving Goals

Getting things done is often more difficult than you may think. You may have a strong desire to see positive changes, including better grades, weight loss, or passing an educational course. But success requires more than just motivation. The right goal-achievement skill set can help you see the exact steps you need to perform to take your life to the next level. Of course, it all starts with setting a goal and there’s a useful (SMART) acronym to remember:

Goals should be specific and free of generalizations, or they are unlikely to get done. Instead of stating that your goal is to improve your English skills, make it more specific by stating that your goal is to learn and use one new word every weekday to boost your English vocabulary.

A goal should be measurable because you need to keep your finger on the pulse and know where you’re at. For instance, a test or assessment score can provide evidence that you have reached your goal.

A goal needs to be possible to achieved. If it’s beyond your capabilities or requires resources you cannot access, then you will set yourself up for failure.

Goals must have some relevance. It is pointless to set a goal if it’s not relevant to your life, work, education, interests, hobbies, etc.

You must set a completion date for your goal. If you do not set a deadline, you may lack the motivation to reach it. Once you have your SMART goal, record it clearly on paper or a mobile device and then visualize the outcome of achieving that goal. Imagine how happy you will feel when you achieve it. This vivid mental imagery will provide you with the extra motivation to go for it. Finally, when you reach your goal, it’s time to celebrate! Reward yourself with a trip, an item you desire, relaxation time with friends, or whatever else that will make you feel happy.

My Aim in Life

An aimless person is just like a ship without any direction. You cannot move forward without having an aim or goal in your life. Everyone has their own aim. Everyone’s aim is different from others. Having a potential goal in life helps you to define your existence. Not only that, but a goal or several goals also help one in understanding their career goals and life goals.

Why Should you have an Aim in Life?

An aimless man can never be successful in his life. All of his goals will either be shattered or fail at a certain point. He limps in his way of life. It is crucial to have a realistic aim or goal in life. It will add a new layer of meaning to your life.

Once you can achieve it, you will be able to find the true purpose of life and set an example for others on how to live life in the best possible way. Not only that but also achieving your goal successfully will bring immense joy and happiness in your life and for your family as well.

How to Choose the Right Aim for You?

Generally, a person chooses their ambition or goal by getting inspired by the people surrounding them. Parents or teachers or relatives play a very crucial role in selecting an aim. Choosing the right goal as per your aptitude will help you to drive your life towards the right path. But one small mistake or choosing a wrong goal can shatter that. Hence everyone must be cautious while making this decision.

Your aim defines your career path. So, it could be really difficult to choose a career path at a very young age, it could be possible that a person fails to reach his goal after a certain point in time. But fixing the mistake and taking the right decision at that moment will show you light in the right direction. Therefore, do not give up hope and keep trying. And, be ambitious.

How to Achieve That?

The first and foremost task is you have to be very careful while making the decision. An aim leads towards the right career. So, here are a few steps that you must remember in every phase of your life.

Always be Proactive

Maintain a healthy and balanced life

Stay away from negativity

Avoid procrastination

Gain more knowledge

Embrace your failures

Get expert opinions

Visualize your final destination

Track your progress

Stay focused

Every person decides at some point what he wants to become. And, in this era of modernization, I am aiming to become a doctor. Not just because my mom is a doctor but also it is a noble profession.

Many people aspire to become an engineer, architects, dancers, interior designers etc. Amid all the other professions, there are some particular reasons behind my preference for becoming a doctor.

A doctor is a person who saves others’ lives by treating them well. He helps people in curing all the diseases by giving them the required medicine or through surgery or various other procedures. Not only curing people by treatment but also a doctor must offer hope and joy to the patient and his family in times of difficulty.

No One would be able to survive in this world if there was no doctor. Nothing could be greater than saving someone’s life and spreading joy in the world.

However, it is not easy to become a doctor. I have to overcome a lot of hurdles to gain success. First I have to study hard and then I have to clear the medical entrance examination to secure a seat in a medical college first and then complete the programme to reach my goal.

I want to be a doctor because I want to help those who cannot afford the cost of treatment of many difficult diseases. I have a goal of opening a hospital of my own that will be equipped with all the modern medical instruments. And those who require treatment but can’t afford the cost of it will be able to get treated in my hospital. I idolize Dr Devi Shetty, the well known cardiac surgeon. Hence I have decided to embark on this journey.

It is a long journey. But I am quite ambitious and I will put in a lot of hard work to fulfill my goal.

Characteristics of a Good Essay

It must be concise: Essays must always be concise. It does not mean that the essay is supposed to be the short one, but it must be of the length required to convey the idea, no more no less. In this instance, the idea of Aim in the life of the student.

It must be clear: Essays are supposed to be clear; it means the main argument or the central idea of the essay must be clear and not vague, and the same goes for each of the sentences of the essay.

For example, in the topic, My Aim in Life, if the student is writing, My aim in life is to become a doctor, then the next sentence must be something that adds meaning to it, such as because I like to help the people, and not something irrelevant, such as, I like singing.

It is very important to be successful in your life. Hence, fixing a goal and staying focused is crucial in your life. So, making a proper plan from a young age and timely execution along with the right attitude are the ultimate keys to success.

  • What are my short-term and long-term career goals?
  • Where do I see myself in ten years?

  • What major will help me reach my goals?
  • What skills do I need to reach my goals?
  • What impact do I want to have on society?

Career Goals Essay Template

Need more inspiration.

After you brainstorm the responses to these questions, look for common themes, or pick out the most interesting stories. You can build your main essay “thesis” or idea around this.

Once you’ve got the main idea, create an outline to put your ideas into essay format. This will give you a general idea of structure.

You can use the career essays template below to give you some ideas. But remember that some rules are meant to be broken, so don’t be afraid to be innovative and think outside the box!

Also, when you’re done, head over to Going Merry to apply for the Career Goals scholarship essay bundle (one essay, one application, multiple scholarships!). You might as well make that essay count. Sign up for Going Merry to apply for scholarships more efficiently.

Here’s a paragraph-by-paragraph breakdown:

Paragraph 1 : Establish the main theme of what you’re going to talk about. It should also grab the reader’s attention. For example, instead of starting your essay with something generic (e.g. Ever since I was a little girl, I wanted to be a zoologist), get creative with it! Try something like My greatest memory as a young girl was going to the zoo for the first time or While most kids play house or school, I always wanted to play zookeeper.

Paragraph 2 : Elaborate on what inspired your career goals. Perhaps it was a relative, a TV show, or simply an experience that you had. Remember that old writing adage, “Show, don’t tell.” In other words, try to demonstrate your interest with story or description.

Paragraph 3 : Discuss your short-term career goals and your intended major. How will your intended major help you reach these goals? What skills do you need to learn to reach them? At the end of the paragraph, try discussing how your short-term goals can help you achieve your long-term goals.

Paragraph 4 : Focus on your long-term goals and the impact that you hope to have on society. If you’re not sure what your long-term goals are, don’t sweat it; they’ll probably change anyways. You can instead focus on the difference you’d like to make overall. And don’t worry too much about the size of the impact…remember that just doing what you’re truly passionate about has a massive impact on those around you.

The last paragraph is your conclusion. You can use this paragraph to summarize what you discussed in the previous few paragraphs. If you want to be even more creative, try ending your essay with a question for your readers or a new insight. Good luck!

And now that you’re ready with that essay, put it to good use! You can recycle that same essay, when applying for the Career Goals Scholarship Bundle. Ms. Divya is my English professor and she knows about my future plans. She always inspires me to do better and work harder. The reason behind My Future Plan: I have a few specific reasons for my future plan. I was once explaining some doubts of my classmates and I realized that I really like explaining and teaching. After my English Honours degree, I will prepare for the Master’s degree. I am pretty much confident about that and I know I will work hard to pursue my dream. I always wanted to be a professor and now my family is inspiring me to become a professor too. My parents are really supportive and they respect my decision. I have seen lots of my friends want to become a professor, and some of them want to pursue an MBA . There are a lot of aims and goals available that students can choose in their lives. Right now in this world, the top trending professions are Doctor, Teacher, Programmer, Designer, Architect, Marketer, Supervisor, Manager, Engineer, etc. Maybe you have something unique in you and you want to pursue that. So different people adopt different aims according to their inclinations, tastes or perceptions about life. My teachers are really helpful and are always guiding and helping me with my future plans.

They have always inspired me to do better and work harder. I was once explaining some doubts to my classmates and I realized that I really like explaining and teaching. Later, I experienced teaching while doing an internship with an NGO. I went to a slum and taught kids there. I felt a different kind of satisfaction after teaching them. At that time I realized that I had never felt happier than this and decided to become a professor. I am one who enjoys exploring new places and getting to know new cultures, languages, and cuisines, and working as a professor offers many chances for me to develop those interests. After my English Honours degree, I will prepare for the Master’s degree. Then I am planning to take the UGC NET exam . Another big plus is the working hours that academia can offer, which are frequently more flexible than in other professions.

The biggest advantage of being a professor is that I find jobs in many places worldwide. I am really honest and passionate about my aim in life. It is surely a long journey but I will try my best to reach my goal and I suggest everyone do the same. According to me, timely execution of an action plan with a proactive attitude is the key to success. One of the best ways to stay motivated is by visualizing the change and likewise by achieving step-by-step milestones.

My aim in life is to grow to be a doctor in the future. I believe that medicine is one of the noblest professions to pursue in the world. I belong to a family of doctors and just like my mother, I aspire to be a neurosurgeon. The study of neurology and its impact on our behaviour, personality, and character is what intrigues me the most about the field. My curiosity towards the medical world and ambition to be a doctor is what motivates me to study harder and more diligently. The study of medicine is not easy but it opens up a whole new world of interaction. Learning about basic cell function to discovering the mechanisms of our brain is a fascinating journey. As a school student, I wish to excel in certain subjects like biology, chemistry, physics, maths, and psychology so that I can pursue my dream of becoming a doctor and a neurosurgeon. I hope to participate in different charities, health clinics, and services to gain the relevant skills one needs to be a doctor. I wish to work upon my social and communication skills because good communication is the backbone of every industry. I have the confidence and hope that one day I will achieve my aim in life to become a doctor.

“A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination, and instil a love of learning.” Teachers are the foundation of a good society, they not only facilitate learning but also inspire children to follow their dreams and goals in life. This is why my aim in life is to become a teacher. My teachers have had a tremendous impact on my life, they taught me to believe in myself and follow my path no matter what. I wish to inculcate this belief and nurture it. Becoming a teacher can help me spread this knowledge and belief of believing in one’s ability to achieve their goals, to be individualistic and creative. I believe that I can be a good teacher because of my experience, humility, and caring nature. I possess all the skills and qualities that a promising teacher should possess. I hope one day I get the opportunity to follow my passion for teaching and educating the world in the future.

My aim in life is to become an engineer. Belonging to a family of engineers I have aspired to become a mechanical engineer like my father. Efforts anyone puts in becoming an engineer will be the best investment ever. I will face many challenges at work but it will open an array of opportunities for me around the world. My curiosity towards the engineering world and ambition to be an engineer is what drives me to study harder and more diligently. I have started to prepare myself for this journey from the school level. Engineering is all about creating new products and bringing up changes in the existing ones for better functioning. I have started participating in various Olympiads, competitions to level up my knowledge and turn my passion into a career. I hope one day I get the opportunity to follow my passion for engineering and bring a change in the future.

How SMART Goals Can Help You Improve your English in 2020 | Oxford House Barcelona

  • Tags: Goals , Resources to learn English

New year, new you. As one year ends and another begins, many of us like to set ourselves goals in order to make our lives better. You might even be thinking about how you can improve your English level this year!

To help you achieve your objectives, you should make sure your goals are SMART.

What are SMART goals?

SMART is an acronym that helps us plan more effectively by making our goals s pecific, m easurable, a chievable, r elevant and t ime-bound. When we write SMART goals, we become more focused and think about what we need to do to achieve them.

Whether you’re studying for an important exam, you need English for work or you’re learning it for fun, SMART goals can help you. Here’s how:

S is for Specific

First, ask yourself what you want to achieve and write it down. You can make a general goal like “improve my listening skills” more specific by breaking it into several more specific smaller goals. For example:

“I want to be able to…

  • understand interviews with my favourite musician”
  • understand international customers at work”
  • follow what’s being said in a group conversation”

It’s a good idea to break all your big goals into smaller chunks like this because it helps you start directing your own learning. To help you do this, come up with some questions using Wh- words (what, where, when, why and how) and try to answer them in order to find out exactly what you need to do.

To get you started, here are some useful questions to ask yourself:

  • Why do I want to…(improve my listening)?
  • What do I need to do to achieve this?
  • What materials or resources do I need?

Now write out a specific goal for yourself.

To find out more about how to improve your listening skills and to help you with your goal setting for this important skill, have a look at our post 5 Ways To Improve Your Listening Skills At Home .

M is for Measurable

Great work! You have something specific you want to achieve. Now you need to make sure you can measure your progress. This will keep you on track and motivated.

You could draw up a chart or checklist where you can tick off activities as you complete them.

How SMART Goals Can Help You Improve your English in 2020 | Oxford House Barcelona

You can also decide on exact numbers to measure, for example:

  • I’m going to listen to and understand 10 minutes of a business podcast
  • I’ll learn 15 new words when reading the news
  • I’ll learn three new expressions while watching Netflix

Now make your specific goal measurable!

A is for achievable.

It’s essential that your goal is something that you can achieve. That means it shouldn’t be too difficult – or too easy, either! You will need to be realistic about what you are capable of doing, considering the amount of time and resources you have.

Look at it this way, for a newbie runner, finishing a marathon in six months probably isn’t very achievable! Think about learning English in the same way. Choose activities that you know you will have time to do.

If you only have a couple of hours a week, you might want to consider small goals such as:

  • Spend ten minutes playing vocabulary games on your favourite language learning app
  • Read one article for pleasure (reading doesn’t have to be followed by comprehension questions!)
  • Watch a short video about a topic you’re interested in

Now revise your goal so far, is it achievable?

R is for relevant.

Is your goal the right one for you? To decide, you’ll need to think about your strengths and weaknesses. It can sometimes be hard to evaluate this on your own. Ask your teacher what you can work on in your own time and think about what you’d like to achieve.

  • Would you like to watch a series in English?
  • Do you want to use English while you are travelling?
  • Perhaps you need to pass an English exam for work?

Your current level of English and personal ambitions will help you decide if a goal is relevant for you.

Now ask yourself, is my goal relevant to my learning needs?

T is for time-bound.

When will your goal begin and end? Putting a timeframe on things can help maintain momentum , especially if it’s not too far away.

Ideally, you should break up long-term goals into smaller goals. Otherwise, you run the risk of losing sight of your original aim and losing track of your progress.

Use time phrases like these to help you plan short, medium and long-term SMART goals:

  • By the end of the week, I will have…
  • By the end of the month, I will have…
  • By the end of the summer, I will have…
  • By this time next year, I will have…

Now add a time frame to your goal!

Example smart goals.

>By the end of March, I want to improve my listening skills so that I can understand an episode of Game of Thrones in English and write a 200-word review of it in my own words.

By the end of the summer, I will have listened to an entire 30-minute podcast in English and be able to understand it enough to explain it to my teacher.

Next class, show your teacher your SMART goals and ask them to give you feedback and advice.

More smart goal tips.

While planning, it’s a good idea to create a visual timetable or add what you aim to do to your calendar. An example week in your calendar could be:

Monday: Listen to a podcast and write a 50-word summary

Wednesday: Read my favourite website in English and write down new vocabulary

Friday: Go to Oxford House’s Happy Friday language exchange and use five new words

This will help you stick to your plan.

Or you could use an app such as Goals On Track to keep a record of what you do and when, in the same way as you might use a fitness tracker . Seeing how much you have done can be really motivating and give you a great sense of achievement !

So, are you ready to set your own SMART goals? What are your aims and objectives this year? Let us know in the comments section below!

If you’ve got this far, you’re already on the right path to improving your English. So why not also read our post 5 Ways to Become a Better Learner?

[YRP Students' Essays] My English Goal

After living in New Jersey for six years, I came back to Japan when I was six years old. Since then, I have tried hard to study English by taking lessons at an English school, watching English movies and TV programs, and reading English books. My dream then was to go to Doshisha International Junior High School. Now my dream has come true, and my next goal is to have a job where I can use my English skills.

I am very interested in fashion, and I wish that I could have a job which is related to fashion, such as the editor of a fashion magazine, a stylist, or an event planner. In the current world, the fashion industry has become global and borderless. Therefore, English is extremely necessary for fashion-related jobs. To negotiate with foreign people, English is the best language for communication because English is the common language of the whole world. I want to improve my English and get a fashion job where my skills can be used. If I get the job that I want in the future, I would like to use my English and negotiate with many foreigners and have a great time working.

To get a job in the fashion industry, I need to improve my skills with much effort. Now, my knowledge of vocabulary and grammar is very poor. Vocabulary and grammar are important for writing a great essay or giving a good speech because if you don't know the exact words you cannot explain what you think. Also, if you are too weak to communicate, it is impossible to negotiate with foreigners. To get a fashion job, I have to improve my weak points.

To improve my vocabulary and grammar, I would like to read many books. I can learn new words and the correct grammar from them because reading books are a perfect way to increase our knowledge about words and phrases. In addition, I can enjoy the story, so I will never become tired of studying. Reading English newspapers might be good, too, because English articles are the top level of English and they are well organized. It might be too hard for me, but I would like to try and do the best I can. Also, taking tests like Eiken, TOEIC, and TOEFL is good for my study English, too. Noticing my level of English motivates me and makes me think that I need to develop my English. I can learn new words and correct my grammar, so I think these tests will improve my skills. From now on, I would like to challenge the upper grades of the tests and get good scores because these tests could become important qualifications for me. Therefore, when I try to get a job, they will help me.

To improve my weakness in English communication skills, I need opportunities to talk in English. For example, I will try to talk in English with my sister, friends, or teachers. I went to San Francisco this spring to study English, and I home-stayed with an American family. First, I was shy and I did not have confidence in my English, so I could not speak up. However, during the stay, I thought that being shy would not make my English better, and I started to speak up and tried not to be scared of my mistakes. Then I could make friends and enjoy myself. I learned that courage is important to communicate. Therefore, from now on, I would like to have more chances to communicate in English with people.

To have the perfect English skills that are necessary to get a dream job might be difficult for me, but I would like to keep trying and never give up. I wish I could become more confident of myself and my English, too. The good thing about learning English is that I can grow up intellectually, too. When I practice to communicating in English, I learn that I have to change my character to be more bright and stop being shy. I would like to learn more new, beautiful English and improve my weakness and make my dream come true. If I can get a fashion job, I will communicate with many foreign people and enjoy working in the fashion-business world. Now, I feel confident of myself, and I believe that I can do anything.

Future goals essay

Everyone has dreams and future goals that they strive to achieve. Some of them are close goals and a plan has been developed to achieve them, such as practicing a sports activity, studying in a specific specialization, learning a new language, and other models that are easy to reach and easy to achieve in the fastest time.

There are goals that are difficult to achieve, and these are often what a person leaves for an unknown time. Long-term goals are such as creating a family in the future and having as many children, or live in a big luxury house, or make a lot of money. Such things may be variable goals, we can achieve some of them, but in many cases, life passes without achieving these goals.

What do we need to achieve our future goals?

There is no doubt that every person can achieve any goals, no matter how difficult, if he sets a timetable for them and allocates a specific time to strive to achieve them.

Time management is 50% of your success in achieving your goals. And only the remaining percentage depends on your perseverance and determination in achieving this goal.

So I can say that it is great to get to know yourself well. You know what you need from life, and you have goals to strive for. That’s so cool, it’s better than living without goals.

My future goals

I would very much like to succeed in middle school and enroll in a university (type the name of the university). And join the specialty (type the specialty you want). I like very much excellence in this field, and it is good that it contains several benefits that are good for the individual and his family, such as insurance, good holidays and social status.

I have a job of (type in the name of the job) in mind for a long time, I am trying to get some training courses to help me advance in this specialization very easily.

I think it’s great for everyone to have goals that they want to achieve.

  • Future plans and goals essay

Undoubtedly, many people who live in the twenty-first century are now very familiar with plans and goals and set practical schedules to help them achieve their goals.

Of course, human development has made it clear to us many things related to organization and how to choose goals. It made us know more about ourselves, which helped us in setting future plans and goals that we want to achieve.

I want to achieve a lot of wonderful things that help the whole world, I would very much like to work in the International Therapy Organization, which will help me in the future to reach and communicate with all the people who are interested in providing humanitarian care, especially in the third world societies.

I would very much like in the future to be able to reach a reputable center that will allow me to provide medical assistance in diseases prevalent in these societies, such as hepatitis, virus C, virus A. And other diseases are endemic and left unattended for centuries.

I would very much like to do this in the future, therefore, I am now trying to achieve it through my great effort in studying.

My future goals short essay

There is no doubt that it is good for a person to be aware of what he wants in the future, whether it is the near or distant future.

Everyone has expectations for what he wants to achieve, so we set goals and try to organize them and strive to achieve them so that we can achieve what we love and aspire to.

I really like to organize my goals into three goals:

1- short term goals

I put in these goals things that I can achieve as small victories that only require a few days or weeks, such as writing a poem, attending a seminar, or participating in a voluntary social activity.

2- Medium-term goals

I put in these goals more important things that require an average period of two weeks to a month, such as winning a sport I play, such as soccer, trying to improve my computer, or improving the look of my room or perhaps painting the room. Such small victories I put in the mid-range goals.

3- long-term goals

I put a long period of time here like a year or more for more important dreams related to my future, such as saving to buy my own car, studying systematically to get specific grades that would lead me to my university goal. Such a big thing, I set long periods of time for it and keep working on achieving it.

These are my goals and my way of achieving them.

Essay on future plans and goals

I like very much to divide my future plans into tasks according to priority and the amount of effort that will be put into them.

I tend not to postpone today’s work for tomorrow, I like very much to pay attention to the work and duties required of me so that they do not accumulate and become difficult to do. So I divide my goals into three stages.

The first stage: express business, It can include plans such as buying clothes, going for a short fieldwork or going to the library. Such actions that require hours or a day I put them in the category of quick goals, record them and strive to achieve them.

The second stage is the work that requires time from a week to a month, such as joining strengthening classes, learning a language or training in a difficult sport movement. Such actions I put in the outline of the Mediterranean goals and I strive to achieve them.

The third stage is for the longest period of time, such as a year and more. These goals are difficult to achieve without long effort and diligence. such as saving money to buy my own car, or saving money to buy a modern gaming device, or mobile and maybe saving to buy a house in the future.

These are the plans and goals that I seek to achieve and how to work with them to succeed.

My future goals in life essay

It is great for a person to have future goals that he plans to achieve and have ambition and a future vision of what he wants to become in the future and the impact of his work on achieving his goals. I like to define my future goals according to their importance, as there are long-term goals, medium-term goals, and other short-term and quick goals.

So I always make a small note consisting of a question and answer, in the question I put the question where do you see yourself in five and ten years, and in the answer I put my career goals.

In this period of time, I try to focus on my big main goals, maintain them, not get distracted, and work hard to achieve my career goals.

Illustrative example of my goals

1- Short and fast goals

In this box, I put goals that can be completed in a short time, such as going to participate in a charitable work that requires me to go only a few times, or joining an educational class for a short period of time, perhaps two days or a week.

2- Medium time goals

I put here the goals that require me to work continuously for a month, such as working on a scientific research that will require me to deliver it after a month, or preparing for an important test, or training in a specific sport for a period of time before I officially join it so that I can be in a good level.

In order not to be distracted, I always put here the goals of my future professional life so that I can be on a straight line and not be distracted, and I work continuously and regularly on training and improving my abilities so that I can reach my dream.

This is how I work on my future goals and strive to achieve them, and this helps me a lot in being regular, estimating time and succeeding greatly.

Paragraph about goals in the future

Goals in the future are on the minds of many, and this is because everyone is afraid of tomorrow, and they do not know what will be in the future.

Therefore, many people set future plans and goals for themselves so that they can maintain the steps and goals they want to achieve. I also do that, as I put a future plan for the type of job I want to get in the future and some other things.

Example of my future goals

I would very much like to become a cardiac surgeon. I like this delicate specialization very much, but it is not an easy specialization and it requires effort, fatigue and a long stay.

Therefore, I am now striving to improve my grades and excel in my studies, in addition to learning some important medical terms.

From time to time I read some books in this specialty to get an idea of what I want and what its requirements are. I am also working on improving the accuracy of my fingers in thin areas by training in some types of anatomy of fruits such as grapes, trying to separate the outer peel without cutting, and some of these things that require skill and stability.

I hope that I can achieve my future goals and get the job I desire and be able to help many people.

Paragraph about future goals

Future goals give motivation and enthusiasm to live and achieve goals. This is how I feel when I set various and different goals and strive to achieve them. It gives me the feeling that there is a goal I live to achieve. I feel absolutely happy when I achieve any goal, whether it is big or small. I tend to divide goals according to my requirements and the time I have to achieve them.

Of course, there are big goals that I dream about, such as my strong desire to become a judge when I grow up. But, of course, this will not be achieved easily without hard work and diligence.

Therefore, I put this goal in the category of long-term goals, and put some steps for it that I am working on gradually, trying to achieve this goal, such as setting a daily schedule for studying and spending my lessons, and this is certainly an essential work. But beside it, I put an hour a day to review some legal articles and learn some of the basics and requirements that allow obtaining this job.

I dedicate time daily or weekly to learn some sentences and words, in addition to working on developing my self-confidence and improving my speech. I feel every day that I am improving a lot and getting a little closer to achieving my future goal.

But it is normal for me to have other goals as well, such as participating in some sports. I love basketball a lot and I love to practice it, and I also love swimming and I’ve been good at it since I was young. I set some goals for practice and improvement so that I can be part of the university team when I grow up.

I hope to achieve these goals, make my family members happy, and be able to help my father financially in some way.

My future plans short essay

Until recently, I didn’t have many future plans. I am a student in the stage (write your educational stage here). From the city of (type your city).

I love life and enjoy it a lot, I participate in many sports activities and I am very good at some of them. Two years ago I was completely different, I don’t give the future life any importance, I live my day, I enjoy, I study and I don’t do much.

Until we faced the Corona crisis and I faced the disease, and I knew that I was living incorrectly, whether in my diet, or the life I was following.

So recently, I made my future plans and decided to stick to them so that my life would be better in the future.

The plans for the future are:

1- Eat a healthy diet

I am now keen to eat healthy foods and pay attention to the types of foods that help in raising immunity mainly, and pay attention to the types of vegetables that I eat and know the benefits they contain.

2- The order of the study

I am now more interested in studying, and I do not do any sports activity unless I complete my homework and understand my lessons well so as to guarantee myself a future career in the future.

3- Develop future plans for the type of job I want to obtain and work in an attempt to achieve this, in addition to plans for other matters, whether short-term or long-term, and strive to achieve them individually and everything on time.

This makes me feel that I am accomplishing tasks, and I am very happy with achieving my goals and being successful in them.

And if I stop or fail in a task, I put it back and try to succeed in it or reach an advanced step that I have not reached before until I succeed in the end and complete the work.

This is how I set my future plans and work to achieve them.

Paragraph about my future goals

I like very much to set my future goals and try to achieve them or get close to achieving them in the largest way. This makes me feel challenged and victorious in self-realization.

I like very much choosing tasks according to the necessary time period, recording a goal and striving to achieve it, with the addition of searching for it, and how to complete it to the fullest, so as to shorten the time and complete the work before the time that I have registered, this makes me feel that I am fast and have sufficient determination.

I also like to make some long-term plans and goals for myself, such as university, graduation day, job, dream house, car. Such things I like very much to identify and strive to achieve.

Write a paragraph about your future plans

Undoubtedly, when we ask how you will be equipped in your future plans, some or many may be shocked, and not have a clear answer to what they want to achieve in life.

But I was recently able to define my goals and learn from the success stories surrounding me everywhere, and prepare future plans based on the guidance of experts and successful people in trade and industry. I divide my future plans into three sections, short term, medium term and long term.

1- short term

I put out everything that is fast and does not require delay.

2- medium term

I make plans for tasks that require less time, such as a week or a month.

3- long term

I put in it the most important future plans such as university, job, my favorite hobbies and what to achieve with it.

After following these methods, I found myself more organized and actually achieving many things that were always stuck for me, and I prefer to postpone them due to the lack of time management.

Essay on Goal of my Life | My Goal in Life Essay

What is a goal in life.

A definite goal is a foundation of success. Without a goal, our life is like a car without steering. If we decide on an aim in our life it becomes practical and easy to follow that dream or ambition. The main goal of every person in today’s world is to become successful, famous and rich. To achieve these in our life we follow any business or profession; doctor, engineer, teacher, businessman, manager etc.

One’s ambition in life is always inspired by their role models. Role models are people who inspire others to imitate or follow their good behaviour or habits. My goal in life is to become a successful blogger. A blogger is a person who shares his/her knowledge by writing on web pages that exist on the internet.

My Ambition is to become a Blogger

One day I bought a domain name and started writing there. That initial kick to my journey came after reading the motivational writings of popular bloggers. I was clueless about what should I write first. Soon I was writing on my first post titled Holi festival. Because Holi was approaching and was talk of the town. After completing my work, I realised the talent within me. Now, the writing hesitation had vanished.

I started reading more often and always on the lookout for new and hot topics to write on. I registered for some courses available online. I got to learn new concepts about blogging and Digital Marketing with every passing day. When I had published a lot of content on my website, it was time to share it with people. I started searching Google and Youtube for increasing traffic to the website.

To get the recognition, I joined Quora, where I was bombarded with questions. I felt the need of sharing my education and experience with the seekers. I tried to help them with my intelligence and gained their trust.

We get a unique sort of happiness and satisfaction when our writings help others. As my aim in life is now clear in front of my eyes, nothing can stop me from achieving the goal of my life. I hope to keep the hard work going on. My ambition is my dream.

In my journey, I realised that consistency and hard work are essential to success. Learning is a never-ending process which is the key to turn your goals in life into reality.

EU AI Act: first regulation on artificial intelligence

The use of artificial intelligence in the EU will be regulated by the AI Act, the world’s first comprehensive AI law. Find out how it will protect you.

A man faces a computer generated figure with programming language in the background

As part of its digital strategy , the EU wants to regulate artificial intelligence (AI) to ensure better conditions for the development and use of this innovative technology. AI can create many benefits , such as better healthcare; safer and cleaner transport; more efficient manufacturing; and cheaper and more sustainable energy.

In April 2021, the European Commission proposed the first EU regulatory framework for AI. It says that AI systems that can be used in different applications are analysed and classified according to the risk they pose to users. The different risk levels will mean more or less regulation. Once approved, these will be the world’s first rules on AI.

Learn more about what artificial intelligence is and how it is used

What Parliament wants in AI legislation

Parliament’s priority is to make sure that AI systems used in the EU are safe, transparent, traceable, non-discriminatory and environmentally friendly. AI systems should be overseen by people, rather than by automation, to prevent harmful outcomes.

Parliament also wants to establish a technology-neutral, uniform definition for AI that could be applied to future AI systems.

Learn more about Parliament’s work on AI and its vision for AI’s future

AI Act: different rules for different risk levels

The new rules establish obligations for providers and users depending on the level of risk from artificial intelligence. While many AI systems pose minimal risk, they need to be assessed.

Unacceptable risk

Unacceptable risk AI systems are systems considered a threat to people and will be banned. They include:

  • Cognitive behavioural manipulation of people or specific vulnerable groups: for example voice-activated toys that encourage dangerous behaviour in children
  • Social scoring: classifying people based on behaviour, socio-economic status or personal characteristics
  • Biometric identification and categorisation of people
  • Real-time and remote biometric identification systems, such as facial recognition

Some exceptions may be allowed for law enforcement purposes. “Real-time” remote biometric identification systems will be allowed in a limited number of serious cases, while “post” remote biometric identification systems, where identification occurs after a significant delay, will be allowed to prosecute serious crimes and only after court approval.

AI systems that negatively affect safety or fundamental rights will be considered high risk and will be divided into two categories:

1) AI systems that are used in products falling under the EU’s product safety legislation . This includes toys, aviation, cars, medical devices and lifts.

2) AI systems falling into specific areas that will have to be registered in an EU database:

  • Management and operation of critical infrastructure
  • Education and vocational training
  • Employment, worker management and access to self-employment
  • Access to and enjoyment of essential private services and public services and benefits
  • Law enforcement
  • Migration, asylum and border control management
  • Assistance in legal interpretation and application of the law.

All high-risk AI systems will be assessed before being put on the market and also throughout their lifecycle.

General purpose and generative AI

Generative AI, like ChatGPT, would have to comply with transparency requirements:

  • Disclosing that the content was generated by AI
