doTERRA Compensation Plan Explained

The doTERRA compensation plan is simple to understand. However, the trick is to break it down into bite size sections. That is what I’m going to do for you with this blog post. You will gain understanding of the doTERRA compensation plan! Please understand there is no income guarantee, because each consultant must do their own work in order to get paid.

True story: I work hard at my doTERRA business. And I also love what I do. My “why” is to make sure everyone knows about our doTERRA essential oils, and how they can give you safe, simple, natural options to use at home.

Monthly Requirements To Be Compensated With doTERRA

There are some requirements to meet, before you can earn with doTERRA through the compensation plan.

  • You need to have a doTERRA Wellness Advocate account in order to earn money with doTERRA.
  • In addition, there are monthly requirements to be considered an active doTERRA consultant, and get compensated for the sales you make that month. That requirement is a 100 points order through our Loyalty Rewards program.

Begin With Fast Start

Fast Start bonuses are straightforward. First you meet the monthly requirement by placing your own order of 100 pv or higher for that month. Then for every person you personally sponsor into your down line, you receive 20% of the point value of what they buy. Fast start is only for the 1st 60 days they are enrolled.  Fast start goes three levels deep. Your levels are broke down to:

  • First level – 20%
  • Second level – 10%
  • Third level – 5%

First,  Level 1 is what you earn on YOUR OWN personal enrollments.  Next,  Levels 2 and 3 are percentages you can earn on your down lines’ personal enrollments. Fast start is paid out for the first 60 days that the new person is enrolled with doTERRA.  It is paid out from the point value (PV) of purchased products.

FAQ:  When Is doTERRA Fast Start Paid?

doTERRA Fast start checks are paid weekly when you qualify for them! I suggest that you host regular classes and people sign up at those classes, in order to earn fast start.   Build momentum through your classes and one on ones. It’s ideal to hold an oil class at least once a month. And a serious business builder will hold classes at least once a week – or even multiple times a week.

FAQ:  What Is The Requirement To Earn doTERRA Fast Start?

The eligibility requirement for doTERRA Fast Start bonus is for you to place a single 100 pv Loyalty Rewards order in that same month, and have enrolled a new member who is still in their first 60 days, who then makes a purchase with a pv amount.

A Note On doTERRA Retail Earnings

You can earn on what you sell retail without signing people up for a members. But here’s how I feel about the retail option.  From your end,  you get 25% commission,  but I don’t find that retail sales are best for the customer OR for the doTERRA consultant.  Here’s why.

Always Serve Your Customer

The first goal is always to do what is best for the customer.  Retail IS an option when they don’t want to commit to the membership,  but the customer is getting far less value.  They miss out on 25% OFF OF EVERYTHING.  That is a substantial saving.  

I would suggest pointing that out if they are hesitant to get a membership.  We want to serve our customers to the best of our ability,  and them paying 25% MORE isn’t doing that. Then if they STILL want to buy retail? NO worries, that’s what the option is there for. We never want to make someone feel like they have to get a membership, because they do not. But let them know there are options to save some money!

FAQ:  I Own A Store Or Other Business.  Should I Sell Retail?

Absolutely!  This is a scenario when retail sales may be beneficial.  However,  I would suggest you also start hosting classes at your store or place of business.  Through classes,  you will gain the ability to further educate your people. Classes help your retail customers to see the value of getting a membership with doTERRA.

Build Your Power Of Three Bonus

Understanding doTERRA Power of Three bonus is simple.  There are three levels.  Each consultant on each level (including yourself) must place 100 pv Loyalty Rewards that same month to qualify you for your Power Of Three Bonus.  You are paid at the highest Power Of Three level you achieve that month.

  • Level 1:  $50 : Have three personally sponsored Wellness Advocates and a total of 600 Team Volume. (Team Volume includes your personal order, the orders of your front line, retail orders, and Preferred Member orders.)
  • Level 2:  $250 : Your three front line team members must each have three other qualified, personally sponsored Wellness Advocates under them with a minimum of 600 Team Volume. ( See example image in the doTERRA compensation plan .)
  • Level 3:  $1500 : Your nine qualified Wellness Advocates also must each have three qualified, personally sponsored Wellness Advocates enrolled under them with a minimum of 600 Team Volume.

The eligibility requirement for Power Of Three bonus is for you to place a single 100 pv Loyalty Rewards order in that same month, and the above conditions be met for each level. You must be an active doTERRA Wellness Advocate as well.

On the doTERRA compensation plan page two , you will see a section called “Residual Earnings”. This is where qualified doTERRA consultants can get paid by the members that they have enrolled, who are placing their own orders. This is based off a percentage. It starts at 2% which is paid on the first level. And 7% is paid on the 7th level deep.

Keep in mind that not everyone will reach the 7th level with their organization. It can take years to build your doTERRA business. So this part of the compensation plan is something to keep in mind for later down the road, after you have built to that point. For now, you can focus on the beginning parts of the compensation plan (Fast Start first, then Power of Three), and it’ll get you on a great start!

Company Bonus pools for Qualified Premier rank and above

Last thing!  As you gain rank with doTERRA, company bonus pools become available.  This means that qualifying Premier rank and above get a percentage of earnings from the company as a WHOLE. It takes time, dedication, skill, and consistency to build up to this rank.

The Top 1% of Distributors hold ranks of Silver, Gold, Platinum, Blue Diamond, and Presidential Diamond, and have spent 3 to 11 years, and an average of 8 1/2 years on their business. If you’re curious, I’m a Premier rank and have been doing doTERRA about 9 years. I work hard at my business, and the biggest reward for me isn’t monetary at all. The biggest reward for me, is the lives I get to help through the oils!!!

Compensation Plan Q&A

Q: when are commissions paid, q: how often does the back office update to reflect new volume, q: can i use the graphic tree to confirm my power of three is in place, q: can i earn more than one power of 3 bonus, q: can i have two qualifying legs under one of my frontline leaders, q: how do i earn extra shares in the rank pools, q: why would my unilevel decrease or stay the same, if my organizational volume grew, q: is it possible to earn unilevel past my seventh level.

A: Yes. doTERRA’s unilevel compensation is designed to have zero breakage. This is done through dynamic compression. Each order pays out 7 levels in order to the first qualified person in the upline. This means that is there is anyone in the normal 7 levels not qualifying the order will continue looking up until it finds someone to pay. For example, an order might have to look up the tree 3 times to pay the first level. If you are the seventh person in line that would mean you were paid on your tenth level.

Q: Do wholesale Customers count toward my bonuses?

Q: if i choose not to participate in the loyalty rewards program, can i still earn commissions, q: can a new wellness advocate earn fast start during their first 60 days, q: does fast start compress like unilevel, q: can i earn commissions on wellness advocates i enrol in another country.

Commission earnings are based on the USD exchange rate. Personal earnings may be less. Commissions are paid out according to the Commissionable Volume not the PV. *It is illegal for a promoter or a participant in a trading scheme to persuade anyone to make a payment by promising benefits from getting others to join a scheme. Do not be misled by claims that high earnings are easily achieved.
