3 Minute Speech about Nature for Students

Short speech about nature.

Good morning everyone and all present here. I am standing before you all to share my thoughts about through my speech about nature. Nature is the world around us. We, all human beings depend on nature every time and for everything. Many people admire the beauty of nature and even they write many novels and poems on it, this is because the beauty of nature cannot be expressed in one single word or saying. It provides the humans, animals and all the living beings on the earth a place to live with the joy of natural resources.

Nature- A Boon for All

Nature is the mother of all, as it helps to sustain our life. It is our companion since eternity. Despite the importance of nature in human life, we are spoiling its balance only due to our greediness. Millions of years ago, when the knowledge of man was not better than an animal. At that time man used to get all the things needed for life only from nature. Even today, at the heights of science, our requirements are met by nature only. Nature is a boon given to us, as it protects crores and crores of organisms living on the earth. It gives us forests which are the lungs of Earth.

Challenges of Nature

Our lives as human beings started on this planet Earth and since then we are exhausting its resources. But, in return, we are exposing it to the external threats of destruction and mistreatment. Due to this, beautiful forests have been destroyed, rivers have been polluted and vast open lands have been consumed for buildings and factories. We are giving challenges to nature by doing activities as hunting down animals, cutting down trees, releasing poisonous gases and polluting rivers.

Our earth is literally experiencing many strokes of destructive activities due to which the river sources are going dry, plants are dying as well as species are eliminating. Today’s world is facing the biggest problem of ‘global warming’, which has a serious impact on our environment. So we all think seriously about our activities and help to bring such situations under control.

Conservation of Nature

Conservation of nature is another important issue. Although governments are employing various means to conserve nature, individuals must also come forward to contribute to saving nature. Therefore, everyone must do the tree plantation, restricting the use of paper, stopping wastage of water and electricity. Not only these we have to stop ill practices like the hunting of animals. Also, we must go for rainwater harvesting systems. If each one of us contributes their own bit, the difference will be tremendous for nature. The beginning of life, as well as the continuation of life on earth both, are a very complex process of nature. Every organism is important for the conservation of nature.

In the end, I would just say that please don’t keep my words to yourself only. I request all to spread the message around so that every person can become a responsible global citizen who can contribute to saving our planet.

Also, focus on energy consumption. Therefore, switch off the power button, if no one is in the room. Do not use personal vehicles, and follow public transportation. We can even use bicycles for small distances to protect your environment. Thus, through these simple yet effective measures, everyone can contribute greatly towards saving our mother nature from further exploitation.

Speech About Nature

Nature is the place we live in. All humans, including me, rely on Nature constantly for everything. Because We cannot adequately express Nature's beauty in a single word or phrase, many people admire it and even compose books and poetry about it.

  • 10 Line Speech About Nature

Nature comprises both the biotic and abiotic elements of our natural surroundings. It gives us access to trees, water, and air, all of which are necessary for survival.

The chirping of insects, the humming of bugs, and the rustling of leaves are signs of nature that calm our spirits and free our minds.

Food comes primarily from nature; whether it's dairy, cereals, organic goods, or nuts, they're all products of mother nature.

Nature is also the source of our clothing to protect our bodies from harsh weather conditions.

Toxic pesticides should not be used to safeguard our plants, and we should promote adopting natural solutions and other eco-friendly instruments instead.

The health of the community in which a person lives directly impacts that person's welfare.

Nature is teeming with renewable and non-renewable resources vital to human existence.

We can avoid needless emissions of hazardous gases from our vehicles by travelling a small distance on bicycles and protecting the environment.

Nature has a great deal of value and meaning in human life. We require pure water, clean air, and the earth to protect our lives. Human life is solely dependent on nature.

We now see that if we don't halt the destruction of nature, it will test human endurance due to nature's violent response during the past few years.

Short Speech About Nature

Long speech about nature.

Speech About Nature

As I walk across the earth,

thousands of things I get to see.

Birds fly high, soaring higher,

and on the flowers, I hear the buzz of bees.

-Shweta Banerjee

Nature is one of the incredible blessings that the world has to offer. Nature is made up of things like the beautiful sound of birds singing, the changing seasons, the blessed morning and evening, the light from rivers, thunderstorms, floods, glaciers, mountains, and other things. In reality, humans will never be able to comprehend the variety and blessings of nature fully.

Unfortunately, Nature has suffered a great deal of damage at the hands of humankind. Over the past hundred years or more, humanity has damaged and destroyed Nature in various ways. The development of industrial and modern society has had a negative impact on the rhythm and flow of nature.

Beautiful forests have been destroyed, rivers have been polluted, and factories and structures have consumed huge open fields due to destruction and cruelty. We put Nature through difficulties by engaging in practices like killing animals, felling trees, producing poisonous gases, and polluting rivers. In addition to harming the environment, manufacturers' releases of toxic gases into the air and chemicals into the water impact aquatic life and its natural resources. For the sake of society's advancement, cutting down trees and flattening mountains only adds fuel to the fire.

Henry David Thoreau rightly quoted, "Heaven is under our feet as well as over our heads". It's time for us to realise that we must leave the world in the same condition that we found it in for the future generation.

Nature is the mother of everyone, as it assists our ability to maintain life. Despite the significance of nature in human life, we are merely disturbing its balance because of our greed. When human knowledge was inferior to that of animals millions of years ago. The man at that period relied only on nature for all of his needs. Even now, at the height of knowledge, only nature can satisfy our needs. Everything we need comes from Nature.

Pleasant morning, with lovely bird humming and cloudy skies; nature is extraordinary in its way. The three essential elements of life, air, water, and land, come from nature. Nature offers a place to live with the joy of natural resources for all living things on earth, including humans, animals, and other species.

Gift Of God- Nature

We have the power to use Nature wisely so that everyone receives what they deserve. We must preserve this God-gifted natural beauty for the sake of future generations. The purest path to inner peace is found in Nature. Everything we use comes from Nature, including furniture, clothing, and devices. Even the paper we use daily to write on is a creation of Nature. We all depend on Nature in some way to meet our requirements. Given to us as a gift, Nature safeguards the many billions of living things on earth. It provides us with trees, which are the lungs of the planet.

But things are now changing. Polar ice caps are melting, the water level is rising, the ozone layer is depleting, the temperatures are rising, and so on. People throughout the world will blame the problem on the use of fossil fuels, pollution, deforestation, etc. There is no doubt that technology is advancing for humanity. We benefit significantly from inventions but also pay the price for them.

Our planet is undergoing numerous damaging actions, causing the river sources to dry up, flora to die, and species to exhaust. Global warming is currently the most significant issue the planet is facing.

Even while governments are using various strategies to protect the environment, people must also step up and do their part. Everyone must plant trees, limit paper use, and stop wasting water and electricity. Not only that, but we also need to stop practices like hunting animals. Additionally, we must implement rainwater harvesting systems. If each of us makes a small contribution, the difference for Nature will be huge. Every living thing is crucial to the preservation of Nature.

Story Of Sunderlal Bahuguna

One of the oldest environmentalists still alive, Sunderlal Bahuguna, is 92 years old. He is a follower of Mahatma Gandhi's Satyagraha and Non-violence philosophies and was the founder of the well-known Chipko movement. He is a true superhero who has dedicated his entire life to defending the Himalayan woods. In the 1970s, he initially belonged to the Chipko movement. Later, he participated in the 1980s-era Anti-Tehri Dam agitation, which concluded in early 2004. On January 26, 2009, he received the Padma Vibhushan, the second-highest civilian honour in India.

At the same time, we are doing nothing to make up for the loss. Friends, allow me to be honest with you. The environment is in danger. Believe it or not, future generations will not be able to live in our world. We have been wasting Nature and its abundance for our material gain without realising that its destruction would end human existence.

1st Speech about Nature (20 min Speech)

Speech about Nature

Ladies and gentlemen,

Today, I would like to talk about something that is very close to our hearts – nature. Nature is all around us, from the trees and the birds to the oceans and the mountains. It is the source of life and beauty, and it is something that we should cherish and protect.

Unfortunately, in today’s world, we often take nature for granted. We destroy forests to make way for housing and agriculture, we pollute the air and water with our factories and cars, and we contribute to climate change with our consumption habits. We are slowly but surely destroying the very thing that sustains us.

So what can we do to protect nature? The first step is to recognize its value. Nature provides us with clean air to breathe, clean water to drink, and food to eat. It also provides us with a sense of peace and tranquility that we cannot find anywhere else. By recognizing its value, we can begin to appreciate it and take steps to protect it.

The second step is to educate ourselves and others about the importance of nature. We need to understand how our actions affect the environment and what we can do to minimize our impact. We can learn about conservation efforts and support organizations that work to protect endangered species and ecosystems.

The third step is to take action. We can make small changes in our daily lives that can have a big impact. We can reduce our energy consumption by turning off lights and unplugging electronics when they are not in use. We can use public transportation or carpool instead of driving alone. We can recycle and compost our waste. We can also support companies that have environmentally-friendly practices.

The fourth step is to advocate for change. We can write to our elected officials and encourage them to pass laws that protect the environment. We can also vote with our wallets by supporting companies that have sustainable practices and avoiding those that do not.

Finally, we can appreciate nature. We can spend time outdoors, whether it is hiking in the mountains, swimming in the ocean, or simply sitting in a park. We can take in the beauty of the natural world and feel grateful for all that it provides.

In the end, nature is a precious gift that we must protect. By recognizing its value, educating ourselves and others, taking action, advocating for change, and appreciating its beauty, we can ensure that it will continue to sustain us for generations to come. Let us all do our part to protect and preserve nature. Thank you.

2nd Speech about Nature (20 min Speech)

Speech about Nature

Dear friends,

It is a great pleasure for me to talk about nature, one of the most beautiful creations of our universe. Nature is an intricate and complex web of life that includes all living beings and their environment. From the tiniest insect to the tallest tree, every aspect of nature is worth marveling at.

Nature is essential for the survival of all living beings on this planet. It provides us with the air we breathe, the food we eat, and the water we drink. It is the foundation of our existence and a source of inspiration for our creativity and imagination.

Nature has always been an integral part of human history, culture, and traditions. It has been a source of awe, wonder, and reverence for all civilizations. From ancient cultures that worshipped the sun and the moon to modern-day environmentalists who work tirelessly to protect our planet, nature has always played a vital role in shaping our lives.

The beauty of nature is unimaginable. It can be seen in the majestic mountains that rise high into the sky, the roaring oceans that stretch out endlessly, and the lush green forests that teem with life. Each season brings with it a unique and breathtaking landscape that is a testament to the natural beauty of our planet.

But nature is not just about its aesthetics. It is also about the intricate balance of life that exists within it. Each living being plays a crucial role in maintaining this balance. From the smallest microorganisms to the largest mammals, every living being has a purpose and a function that contributes to the ecosystem.

However, despite its immense importance, nature is under threat. Climate change, deforestation, pollution, and other human activities are putting immense pressure on our planet. We are witnessing the extinction of countless species, the destruction of entire ecosystems, and the degradation of our environment.

But it is not too late to act. We can all make a difference in protecting and preserving nature. We can reduce our carbon footprint, plant trees, reduce waste, and recycle. We can support conservation efforts, engage in sustainable practices, and advocate for policies that protect our planet.

In conclusion, nature is a gift that we must cherish and protect. It is the foundation of our existence, a source of inspiration, and a testament to the beauty and wonder of our universe. Let us all work together to preserve and protect it for generations to come.

3rd Speech about Nature (15 min Speech)

Speech about Nature

It is an honor to stand before you today and speak about one of the most beautiful things that exist in our world – nature.

Nature is a powerful force that has the ability to amaze, inspire and heal us. It is the air we breathe, the water we drink and the ground we walk on. It is the plants, animals and insects that inhabit our planet. It is the mountains, the oceans and the vast blue skies that surround us. It is a reminder that there is something greater than ourselves.

We are all connected to nature, whether we realize it or not. Every time we step outside, we are greeted by a world full of wonder and beauty. We see the colors of the flowers and the leaves, hear the birds singing and feel the sun on our skin. We are reminded of the beauty that exists in our world, and we feel a sense of peace and calm.

But nature is more than just a pretty sight. It has the power to heal us in ways that medicine cannot. Research has shown that spending time in nature can reduce stress and anxiety, improve our mood and even boost our immune system. In fact, nature is so important for our well-being that some doctors are now prescribing time in nature as a treatment for a variety of health problems.

Unfortunately, in today’s world, we have become disconnected from nature. We spend most of our time indoors, staring at screens, and we have forgotten how to appreciate the beauty that surrounds us. We have become so focused on progress and development that we have neglected the very thing that sustains us – our planet.

We have polluted our air and water, destroyed our forests and oceans, and caused irreparable damage to our planet. We have forgotten that we are just one small part of a much larger ecosystem, and that our actions have a profound impact on the world around us.

But it’s not too late to change. We can all make a difference by taking small steps to protect our planet. We can reduce our carbon footprint by using public transport, walking or cycling instead of driving. We can reduce waste by recycling and reusing. We can support local farmers and businesses that use sustainable practices. We can even plant trees and flowers in our own gardens.

And we can also take the time to appreciate the beauty of nature. We can take a walk in the park, go on a hike or a camping trip. We can watch the sunrise or the sunset, listen to the birds and the sound of the wind. We can sit by a lake or a river and simply enjoy the peacefulness of our surroundings.

In doing so, we will not only benefit ourselves, but also the world around us. We will be reminded of the beauty and wonder of our planet, and we will be motivated to protect it.

So let us all take a moment to appreciate the beauty of nature. Let us be grateful for the air we breathe, the water we drink and the ground we walk on. Let us remember that we are all connected to this planet, and that our actions have a profound impact on the world around us.

And let us all do our part to protect nature, so that future generations can enjoy its beauty and wonder as well.

4th Speech about Nature (10 min Speech)

Speech about Nature

It is a great pleasure to stand before you today and speak about one of the most awe-inspiring topics that we as human beings can contemplate – nature.

Nature is a term that encompasses all living and non-living things that exist on our planet. It is the air we breathe, the water we drink, the soil we cultivate, the forests we walk through, the mountains we climb, and the oceans we explore. It is everything that surrounds us, sustains us, and gives us life.

For centuries, nature has been a source of inspiration for poets, artists, and philosophers. Its beauty and majesty have moved countless individuals to tears, and its power and resilience have amazed and humbled us. But nature is more than just a source of inspiration. It is a complex and delicate system of interconnected parts that work together to maintain balance and harmony.

Unfortunately, in recent times, we have seen the devastating impact that human activities can have on nature. We have polluted the air, contaminated the water, destroyed forests, and caused the extinction of countless species. We have acted as though nature was ours to use and abuse, forgetting that we are only a small part of the greater whole.

But it is not too late to change. We can still work to protect and preserve the natural world, and in doing so, protect ourselves and future generations. We can plant trees, reduce our carbon footprint, use renewable energy sources, and protect wildlife habitats.

When we protect nature, we also protect ourselves. We are part of a larger ecosystem, and our health and wellbeing are intimately connected to the health and wellbeing of the planet. Clean air and water, healthy soil, and thriving ecosystems are essential for our survival and prosperity.

Nature also has the power to heal and rejuvenate us. Studies have shown that spending time in nature can reduce stress, improve mood, and increase physical health. Whether we are hiking in the mountains, swimming in the ocean, or simply sitting in a park, being in nature has a powerful effect on our minds and bodies.

So, at the end of this speec. I would like to say that nature is a precious and invaluable gift that we have been given. It sustains us, inspires us, and heals us. It is our responsibility to protect and preserve it, not just for ourselves, but for all the living beings that call our planet home. Let us work together to ensure that future generations can experience the same wonder and awe that we feel when we contemplate the beauty and majesty of nature.

5th Speech about Nature (5 min Speech)

Speech about Nature

Dear Friends,

Today, I would like to talk about something that is close to our hearts, yet often neglected in our daily lives – nature.

Nature is all around us, from the towering trees to the smallest blade of grass, from the gentle breeze to the raging storm. It is a source of inspiration and wonder, a reminder of the beauty and diversity of life.

But nature is not just something we look at from a distance. It is something we are a part of, something that sustains us and gives us life. We breathe in the oxygen produced by plants, drink the water that flows from rivers and lakes, and rely on the sun’s energy to grow our food.

Unfortunately, we often take nature for granted and fail to appreciate its importance. We pollute our air, water, and land, destroy habitats and species, and contribute to climate change. As a result, we are putting our own survival and that of countless other species at risk.

But it is not too late to make a change. We can start by reconnecting with nature and learning to appreciate its beauty and value. We can reduce our environmental footprint by using resources responsibly, recycling, and reducing waste. We can support conservation efforts and advocate for policies that protect nature and promote sustainability.

Nature is not just a luxury, but a necessity. It is not just something we enjoy, but something we depend on. So let us cherish and protect it, for the sake of ourselves and future generations.

In the words of the poet William Wordsworth, “Nature never did betray the heart that loved her.” Let us love nature, and in doing so, find renewed joy and meaning in our lives. Thank you.

Long Speech on Nature

Good morning everyone. I, ABC (mention your name), would like to thank everyone present here for letting me share my views on nature.

Nature means the natural world. Our earth is made up of water, soils, air, mountains, plants, and animals. Earth is the only known planet in our Solar System that has life and has a suitable climate to support it. Environment, atmosphere, and climate are constituents of nature. Nature consists of living as well as non-living things, and all these things are an integral part of it. Even the smallest of creatures, like microorganisms, are a significant part of nature. Life on the earth is possible only because of favourable natural conditions.

Nature has many wonders that aren’t changed by human exercises at all or those that exist even with human intervention. All the living and non-living components of nature are dependent on each other, and are collectively called an Ecosystem. An ecosystem consists of several elements; one of its main elements is the Atmosphere.  Air is the layer of gases that covers the earth. Gases that together form the air are nitrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, and water droplets. Every gas has a different purpose in our environment, like the Ozone layer protecting us from the dangerous UV radiations. Just like air, water is also an important component of nature. Our earth is covered with large water bodies, like seas and oceans. Seas, as we all know, are made of saltwater. They cover 71 percent of earth’s natural surface. All marine life exists inside the sea biological system.

Water on the earth's surface is also present in the form of lakes, streams, ponds, and rivers. Lakes are mainly used for transportation as waterways. Streams provide us with freshwater. Rivers originate in the mountains and provide water for irrigating farmlands. Thus, water plays a huge role in the existence of mankind, just like any other element of nature, but we are threatening the natural resources that have given us so much.

To make life simpler, we have always been dependent on nature and its resources. But for our benefit, we have started ruining our world. Practises like deforestation, contamination of water bodies, and excess plastic usage are threatening our very existence. The marine system is in danger because of contamination. Depletion of the Ozone layer is posing a great threat for humankind in the form of skin cancer and various other diseases. The world’s average temperature is rising day by day, and the weather cycle is not following regular patterns. Lush green forests have been cleared to make space for building towns and houses. In the name of development, we are hurting our natural resources. We must control our habits, lest nature will.

I would like to end my speech by saying that we should think about our condition. We must avoid using plastic and plant as many trees as possible, start using public transport often, and switch to electric vehicles.

Thank you for giving your valuable time.

Short speech on Nature

Nature is everything present around us. Human beings depend on nature for fulfilling their needs. It provides the humans, animals, and all the living beings on the earth a place to survive.

Nature helps in sustaining our life. As we all know, nature is very important for human life, but our greediness is destroying it. For millions of years, we have been dependent on nature for everything. Even today, our requirements are met by nature only. Nature is a boon given to us, as it supports life on earth. Nature gives us forests, which are the lungs of Earth.

In the name of growth and development, we are exhausting our natural resources and, in turn, exposing our mother earth to great dangers. Forests have been destroyed, rivers have been polluted, and vast open fields have been consumed for buildings and factories. We are destroying our nature by hunting down animals, cutting down trees, releasing poisonous gases into the atmosphere, and polluting rivers.

Due to such activities, our rivers are going dry, plants are dying, as well as species are being eliminated. Today, our biggest problem is global warming, which has a serious impact on our environment. So we must take care of our environment at all costs. In the end, I would like to request you all to become responsible global citizens and contribute to saving our planet in whichever way possible.

Conservation of nature is another important issue. Various governments are employing various ways to conserve nature, individuals must also play their part to save nature. Therefore, we must plant more and more trees, restrict the use of paper, and stop wasting water and electricity. We also need to put a stop to ill practises, like the hunting of animals. Also, we must go for rainwater harvesting systems. If everyone plays his/her part, we can contribute hugely to the conservation of nature.

Speech on Nature[1, 2, 3, 5 Minutes]

1, 2, 3 minutes speech about nature.

Dear teachers and students!

Greetings to all. and thank you to all of you to give me chance to give a speech.

The world around us is a stunning and complex system called nature. Nature contains an astounding variety of species and sceneries, from the lush green woods to the wide oceans. We receive essential resources from the natural environment, such as fresh water, clean air, and food. It has also been demonstrated to have potent therapeutic capabilities and to favourably affect both our physical and mental health.

The existence of our species is likewise intrinsically related to nature. We must save and maintain the natural world for future generations since it is essential to our survival. Unfortunately, the rate at which human activity is destroying the natural environment is accelerating. Just a few examples of the damage we are producing include climate change, pollution, deforestation, and biodiversity loss.

To lessen our impact on the environment and safeguard the natural world, we must act right away. This can be accomplished by modest measures like recycling, cutting back on energy use, and water conservation, as well as more significant policy changes to battle climate change and safeguard endangered species.

Making time to appreciate and enjoy nature is also crucial. Connecting with nature can bring calm, joy, and a reminder that we are a part of this great system, whether it’s a stroll in a nearby park, a climb through the mountains, or simply watching the birds in your garden.

Let’s sum up by saying that nature is crucial to our survival and wellbeing. It is our duty to save and maintain it for future generations. Let’s take steps to lessen our environmental impact and set aside time to appreciate and enjoy nature.

5 Minutes Speech about Nature

Today, I want to discuss the worth of nature and the reasons why it is important for all of us to act to conserve and maintain it.

Nature has been an essential part of human civilisation for thousands of years.

It provides us with various resources, including the air we breathe and the food we consume. It is also crucial for managing our climate and maintaining the precarious balance of life on Earth.

Even However, despite all the benefits of nature, it is presently under danger as a result of human actions such as pollution, deforestation, and climate change.

These acts are having a negative effect on the ecosystem and are putting many plant and animal species in jeopardy.

To reduce our environmental effect and protect the environment, we must all make adjustments to how we live.

Reducing our dependency on fossil fuels, recycling, and water conservation are necessary to achieve this.

Other things that require our assistance are the preservation and conservation of natural habitats and endangered species of animals.

It is also crucial to support laws and regulations that protect the environment.

In order to reconnect with nature, we must spend more time outdoors appreciating the diversity and beauty of the natural world.

Nature is essential to our own physical and emotional health as well as the wellbeing of future generations, and we need to continuously remind ourselves of this.

In conclusion, nature is an essential part of our life, and we must do all possible to protect it.

We must take action in order to decrease our influence on the environment, support conservation efforts, and spend more time outside.

Together, we can make a difference and ensure that animals will endure for next generations.

I appreciate it.

Importance of nature

portrait of Paul de Zylva, Friends of the Earth campaigner

Are you getting enough nature?

It’s easy to think nature will always be with us. But even in my lifetime, birds like starlings and house sparrows have declined so much they’re now listed as endangered.

In fact, nature is faring worse in the UK than in most other countries. The 2020 State of Nature report shows that over half our wild species – plants, insects, birds, mammals – are in decline.

A starling and a house sparrow perched on a gate

Overlooking the importance of nature, as we go about our busy lives, makes it easier for it to disappear right in front of our eyes.

Are you in nature deficit?

First, how was your last holiday? Did you spend any time in nature? Shut your eyes and see if you can recall how you feel about the last time you spent time in nature.

What about your normal busy day away from stunning views, beaches and sunsets? Does your daily routine give you any experiences of nature?

Perhaps you don't have the time to notice the birds calling, the bees buzzing and to enjoy the colours of the changing seasons in a local park, even in your own street.

If you’re not getting enough nature you're not alone.

photo of cyclist in woodland

Dealing with nature deficit

Seven out of 10 people admit they’re losing touch with nature. And more than a third of parents admit they could not teach their own children about British wildlife.

Pressures of daily life mean we’re increasingly detached from nature even though nature in many forms is there for us. Yes, like love, nature is all around – and it’s free.

Even watching wildlife programmes online or on the TV costs — but it’s still no substitute for experiencing nature direct. You don’t have to go on safari, to the Amazon rainforest or to the Grand Canyon for fulfilling experiences of nature.

Great as those places are, nature is also on our doorstep all year round. Even in winter. Just add your own curiosity, a chunk of attention span and a dollop of patience.

What do people think about the importance of nature?

Asked to give their favourite views, Britons tend to put natural heritage before buildings and cityscapes. Yes, Brits favour views of Wales’ Gower Peninsula and Northern Ireland’s Mountains of Mourne over sights like Waterloo Bridge, Blackpool Tower and Stonehenge.

Not even the poet William Wordsworth put people off voting for the “long, stern and desolate" views of Cumbria’s Wastwater and its scree slopes to the Scafell peaks as Britain’s favourite.

Dramatic landscapes fire our imagination, fill our hearts and put our lives into perspective. But everyday experiences of nature give us a boost too. It’s like having our very own free Natural Health Service.

Wild child: importance of nature to children

Children especially have a natural affinity with nature. Evidence is growing of how regular contact with nature boosts new born children’s healthy development, supports their physical and mental health and instils abilities to assess risk as they grow. It even underpins their informal learning and academic achievement.

For children and adults alike, daily contact with nature is linked to better health, less stress, better mood, reduced obesity – an amazing list of features no other product can ever match.

This affinity tends to get knocked out of them as they grow. They come under pressure to put away childish things in favour of passing exams and getting a "proper job".

Along with digital distractions and legitimate fears about playing outdoors, the pressures are removing children from nature before our very eyes. Who can blame them for thinking an apple is a gadget first and a fruit second?

Yet for children and adults alike, daily contact with nature – being in green, open space, near healthy rivers, exploring nature’s colours, sounds, tones and textures — is linked to better health, less stress, better mood, reduced obesity. That’s already an amazing list of features no other product can ever match.

Nature’s importance to our health

Nature performs major miracles for us every day – from giving us great views and helping to prevent floods to regulating the weather and keeping us supplied with clean water, fresh air and plentiful food.

When running the tap or doing the shopping it’s easy to forget that without healthy soils and diverse plant and animal species doing their thing our lives would be tougher and poorer.

Trees in towns cool us in summer and trap air pollution. Bees pollinate our crops, putting food on our table and in our stomachs. Even much-maligned wasps have uses such as controlling aphids.

However smart we’ve become as a species, without diverse nature and a healthy functioning natural environment we’ll be as lost as a tourist without a map app.

Loss of nature

Beyond our shores, tropical forests regulate global temperatures and support countless wild species — from berries used in medicines to gorillas and other primates a few genes away from ourselves. Yet the forests are being felled for timber, mining and cattle ranching.

Mangroves help absorb storm surges and shelter small fry from big fish until they’re ready to venture into the open seas. Yet mangroves are being destroyed by coastal development.

We're removing the vital links in the safety chain of life — pulling away life’s building blocks in a risky global game of Jenga

Healthy seas and oceans regulate the planet’s temperature. But we’re undermining their ability to do this by turning them acidic with our wasteful energy policies and by removing species, as we over-exploit the seas for short-term profit.

forest fire at night with few trees

We’re busy taking out sharks, tuna and other top predators from the oceans and leaving squid and jellyfish to take their place in the food chain. This is upsetting millions of years of natural balance in less than a century.

We're recklessly removing the vital links in the safety chain of life — pulling away life’s building blocks in a risky global game of Jenga.

The value of nature

Talking of risk, on one level it's absurd to even try to work out the financial value of nature to us all. How can we ever accurately value bees pollinating apples or healthy soils and forests holding back flood waters?

The UK’s Office of National Statistics put the financial value of just 3 of the UK’s natural ecosystems (woodlands, farmland and freshwater habitats such as lakes) at £178bn. That’s 9 noughts on the end: 178,000,000,000.

It’s a mind-bending amount and is similar to the value of exports from the Euro zone (€) to the rest of the world. NHS spending is about £140bn.

It’s easy to think nature will always be with us. But such wishful thinking depends on whether we let nature go to the wall or act to repair, restore and maintain it.

What about the value of the world’s natural ecosystem services? A first estimate was put at an average $33 trillion annually – that’s 12 noughts or a million million.

More to the point, this value of nature is nearly twice global GNP of $18 trillion.

The figures will have changed since these first calculations but it underlines the obvious - that nature is both invaluable and priceless. Put another way, if we’re silly enough to let nature decline can we afford to put it back? Three guesses.

That matters when one considers another big global study of the state of nature and its value. The UN Millennium Ecosystem Assessment found that approximately two-thirds of the world’s natural ecosystems are degraded or being used in irresponsible, unsustainable ways. “Every year we lose three to five trillion dollars’ worth of natural capital, roughly equivalent to the amount of money we lost in the financial crisis of 2008–2009”, the report said. Every year.

photo of badger with city in background

It’s easy to think nature will always be with us. But it depends on whether we let nature go to the wall or act to repair, restore and maintain it. Right now species are going extinct and the natural systems that support all life on Earth are being eroded faster than ever before.

Even once common species like bees, hedgehogs, starlings and house sparrows are in trouble – going missing from our streets and neighbourhoods. The bees and birds lose out big time – and so do we.

Is it beyond the wit of humankind to bring nature back from the brink? It’s in our own interests to do so. That said, we do seem to be the only species on Earth that actively destroys its own home and life-support systems.

“The effect that human beings are having on the natural world is profound. Because we are out of touch with the natural world… most of us don’t see the effects.” Sir David Attenborough

Yet, with nature doing so much for us day in and year out, the advertising industry should be rushing to promote it… ‘New, improved nature. It will change your life.’

Speech on Nature Is The Best Teacher

Nature is all around you, teaching valuable lessons every day. It’s a silent mentor, guiding you with its endless wisdom and patience.

Pay attention to the trees, the flowers, the birds, and the seasons. They each tell a story, offering insights on life and growth.

1-minute Speech on Nature Is The Best Teacher

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Let’s talk about nature, our greatest teacher. Look around you. Trees, flowers, birds, rivers, mountains, and even the stars above. They all have lessons to teach us.

Trees can’t run away when it’s too hot or too cold, can they? They stand tall, brave every storm and blossom when spring arrives. They teach us to be strong and resilient.

Have you ever seen a river that stops flowing because it comes across a mountain? No, right? It finds a new route, goes around it, or sometimes even through it. The river tells us to keep moving. No matter what problems we face, we must find a way and carry on.

Birds fly, not caring for borders or walls. They remind us that freedom is our birthright. They inspire us to rise above our problems and strive towards our dreams.

Ever seen a flower refuse to bloom because it’s not as big or colorful as the one next to it? Of course not. Each flower blooms in its own time, adding beauty to the world in its unique way. This teaches us to be ourselves, not to fear being different, but to embrace it.

Finally, the stars. No matter how dark the night, stars shine. They encourage us to be a light in the darkness, to be a source of hope and joy.

Ladies and Gentlemen, nature is the best teacher because it teaches us lessons of strength, persistence, freedom, individuality, and hope. Next time you step outside, take a moment to listen. You’ll be amazed at what you can learn.

2-minute Speech on Nature Is The Best Teacher

Today, I stand before you to talk about a wonderful friend, a silent guide, and a wise teacher – Nature. Just like a tree with deep roots, nature stands strong and teaches us many valuable lessons. Let’s look at some of these lessons.

Firstly, nature teaches us about patience. Have you ever planted a seed and watched it grow? It does not become a tree overnight. It takes time. Days, weeks, months, and sometimes even years. This is nature’s way of telling us that everything has its own pace. You cannot rush things. You need to wait, to have patience.

Secondly, nature shows us the importance of change. Do you remember the leaves changing their color in autumn? They turn from green to yellow, then to orange, and finally brown. This is nature’s way of teaching us that change is a part of life. Everything changes with time, and it’s okay. Change is not something to fear, but to embrace.

Thirdly, nature instills in us the value of harmony. Look at a forest. Different types of plants, animals, and birds live there. They all live together, in harmony. They respect each other’s space and live in balance. This teaches us that we should also live in harmony with others. Respecting each other’s differences and living peacefully together is the key to a happy life.

Fourthly, nature educates us about resilience. Have you ever seen a tiny plant growing through a crack in a concrete wall? Even in such tough conditions, it does not give up. It keeps growing. This is nature’s way of teaching us resilience. It tells us that no matter how hard the situation is, never give up. Keep trying, keep fighting, and you will succeed.

Lastly, nature reveals the power of silence. Have you ever sat by a quiet lake or in a calm forest? The silence there is so peaceful, so calming. This silence is nature’s way of teaching us that sometimes, being quiet is powerful. It allows us to think, to reflect, and to understand better.

In conclusion, nature is indeed the best teacher. It does not use words, but it teaches us many important lessons. It teaches us to be patient, to embrace change, to live in harmony, to be resilient, and to value silence. So, let’s open our hearts and minds to this wonderful teacher. Let’s learn from nature and apply these lessons in our lives. It’s time to step outside and let nature be our guide. Thank you.

  • Speech On Nature [ 1-2 minutes ]

1 Minute Speech

Hello and good morning all, I am here to present a speech on nature and its conservation.

We all are surrounded by Nature. Whatever we see around us like trees , animals, sun, moon, landscapes, etc. are parts of nature. It is said that things that are not made by humans are parts of nature.

But What things are made by humans? It is nothing. Humans only modified natural things and gave them a new shape. So Eventually, everything we see, feel, and experience is Nature.

Nature is an amazing blessing from God. It helps us sustain our lives. So it is our duty to protect it from transforming from its real definition. We need to leave the practices of selfish activities so that our future generations can live well. In other words, we must act to support sustainable development .

thank you for listening to my words!

2 Minute Speech On Nature

Good morning and welcome to everyone. I am here to speak a few words on the topic of “nature and its conservation”.

The word NATURE has a very vast meaning within it. The goal of life is to live in agreement with nature. It is an integral and vital part of living organisms. Nature is nothing but everything we are surrounded by like the air we inhale, the water we drink, the sun, the moon, the landscapes and the list goes to infinity.

Everything in nature invites us constantly to be what we are. Nature nurtures and nourishes us. It fulfils all the basic needs of living beings. It sustains life and maintains a balance in the environmental ecosystem . In fact, Nature is the best gift from God to us.

It is a real supporter of life. But we are not aware of its real value. It is time to understand the importance of nature and conserve it. If we want to assume life on earth for a long time, we need to protect it.

A major European nature protection plan stumbles at the final hurdle. ‘How could we give that up?’

BRUSSELS (AP) — A major European Union plan to better protect nature in the 27-nation bloc and fight climate change was indefinitely postponed Monday, underscoring how farmers’ protests sweeping the continent have had a deep influence on politics.

The deadlock on the bill, which could undermine the EU’s global stature on the issue, came less than three months before the European Parliament election in June.

The member states were supposed to give final approval to the biodiversity bill on Monday following months of proceedings through the EU’s institutional maze. But what was supposed to be a mere rubber stamp has now turned into its possible perpetual shelving.

“How could we give that up? How could we say ‘We decided not to restore nature,’” a disappointed Irish Environment Minister Eamon Ryan said. “Not deliver on the protection of biodiversity is a shocking statement to the rest of the world,” he added, urging diplomatic pressure so that the bill could belatedly still be approved.

The chances of that happening weren’t looking good.

“It is clear to everyone that there is this huge deadlock. And it is not going to be easy to get out of this considering the upcoming elections,” Dutch Climate Minister Rob Jetten said.

Finland will extend the closure of its border crossing points with Russia beyond the current April 14 deadline “until further notice” due to a high risk of organized migration orchestrated by Moscow, the Finnish government said on Thursday, April 4, 2024. (Heikki Saukkomaa/Lehtikuva via AP)

The Nature Restoration plan is a part of the EU’s European Green Deal that seeks to establish the world’s most ambitious climate and biodiversity targets, and make the bloc the global point of reference on all climate issues.

The bill is part of an overall project that aims for Europe to become the first climate-neutral continent by 2050 , demanding short and medium-term changes and sacrifices from all parts of society to reap the benefits in a generation.

“If you want to reach climate neutrality, you also have to look in the broader perspective of protecting biodiversity, strengthening the nature in Europe,” Jetten said, stressing that such initiatives were necessary.

Ryan agreed.

“It’s all connected,” he said. “You cannot put climate change to one side and forget nature restoration.”

Even if the plan had a rough ride through the EU’s approval process, the watered-down version was supposed to sail through the final vote.

Under the complicated voting rules, a qualified majority representing 15 of the 27 member states and 65% of the population was needed. It was thought that threshold was safe, until Monday.

“It seems that we don’t have a qualified majority anymore because ... Hungary has changed its vote. We have to understand why they do that,” said Alain Maron, a Belgian regional climate minister who chaired the meeting of the EU environment ministers.

The change of heart follows weeks of relentless protests from farmers across the bloc who have argued that reams of environmental laws governing the way they work are driving them toward bankruptcy at a time when food security and self-sufficiency are becoming essential again as Russia’s war on Ukraine rages on.

“It is very important to keep flexibility for member states,” said Aniko Raisz, Hungary’s environmental minister. When asked if her country could change its position again, Raisz said she “can’t promise anything,” while stressing the importance of the agricultural sector across Europe.

“We have to be realistic, and we have to keep in mind all these sectors,” she said.

Monday’s postponement was the EU’s latest concession in reaction to protests that have affected the daily lives of tens of millions of EU citizens and cost businesses tens of millions of euros because of transportation delays. Others have included shelving legislation on tighter pesticide rules , loosening checks and controls on farms, and requirements to let some land lie fallow.

Under the plan, member states would have to meet restoration targets for specific habitats and species, to cover at least 20% of the region’s land and sea areas by 2030. But quarrels over exemptions and flexibility clauses allowing members to skirt the rules plagued negotiations.

Last month, the bill was adopted in European Parliament by a 329-275 vote with 24 abstentions after the center-right Christian Democratic European People’s Party decided to vote against it. Environmentalists and the Greens group were in rapture, thinking it was the last stumbling block.

Despite the long droughts , big floods and heat waves that have swept through many areas in Europe, the postponement of any vote signals a possible pause on such environmental actions to protect economic competitiveness.

Beyoncé and Taylor Swift were the feature attractions at the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards Monday night -- and two superstars walked away with more than a few statues.

But, unlike Taylor, Bey showed up at the star-studded event at L.A.'s Dolby Theater, flashing her new persona as a leather-clad cowgirl after last Friday's release of her very popular country music album, "Cowboy Carter." Taylor arrived later via video message.

After posing for some pics on the red carpet, Bey and the other stars went inside to enjoy the show, which was hosted by Ludacris . Among the awards nominees were Miley Cyrus , Drake , Jelly Roll , Luke Combs , Morgan Wallen , Olivia Rodrigo , Shakira , SZA and Usher .

Of course, Bey was part of that group of super artists along with Taylor, who led everyone with nine nominations.

When it came time to hand out the Innovator Award, music icon Stevie Wonder presented it to Bey, who took to the mic and gave a rousing speech.

Bey said in part, "Call me an innovator and I'm grateful. Innovation starts with a dream. Then you have to execute that dream. That road can be very bumpy. Being an innovator is seeing what everyone believes is impossible. It means being criticized often, which often will test your mental strength."

Taylor also won big, accepting a whopping 6 awards, including for Pop Artist Of The Year. Since Taylor couldn't make it to the ceremony, she sent in a video message, thanking everyone for their support.

In her short statement, Taylor said, "I want to say thank you so much to anyone who voted for this award. iHeart, you have just been so incredibly supportive over the course of my entire career."

Nature Speech | Speech on Nature for Students and Children in English

Nature Speech:  We rely on our environmental factors for our everyday exercises. Each living and non-living thing around us has a few advantages for everybody and fill for some particular needs. Every one of these things together makes ‘Nature.’ The physical and mundane world around us that isn’t made by a human is Nature. Nature incorporates woods, slope, waterways, seas, deserts, climate, and so forth. Nature is past humans existing much before the presence of a human. Nature gives us assets like water, air, food to satisfy our requirements and wants.

Long Speech on Nature 500 Words in English

Long Speech on Nature is usually given to classes 7, 8, 9, and 10.

Good morning everyone, I thank the crowd for giving me the chance to introduce a short discourse on Nature.

Nature alludes to the natural world. The whole earth comprising of water assets, soils, air, mountains, creatures, plants, and people, establishes Nature. Earth is the main known planet that bolsters life and has Nature for effective endurance. Environment, atmosphere, and climate go under Nature and are basic for us. Nature has an environment comprising of biotic and abiotic segments. All the biotic and abiotic segments are integral and a piece of Nature. Indeed, even all the organisms and creepy crawlies are a significant piece of Nature. Life on the earth is conceivable simply because of the presence of Nature here.

Nature additionally alludes to the wonders that aren’t changed by human exercises or those that exist even with human intercession. Common Ecosystem comprises of living and non-living characteristic components of the earth that is mutually dependent on one another. Air is the layer of gases that encompasses the earth. The gases that structure the air incorporates nitrogen, oxygen, water fume, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, and different gases. The ozone layer secures the common habitat by draining the bright (UV) beams that arrive at the earth. Seas are made of saltwater. They spread almost 71 percent of the natural earth’s surface. An enormous number of marine exist together inside the sea biological system.

Regular new water assets incorporate streams, lakes, and lakes. Lakes are bigger than lakes and are, for the most part, taken care of with waterways. Streams are characteristic wellsprings of freshwater. The greater part of the waterways begin from mountains and stream towards the sea. As per the regular climatic changes, the climate fluctuation is caused because the world’s hub is inclined. These changes are called seasons. The climate is cold throughout the winter season, and it is blistering throughout the late spring.

Individuals are a little piece of the natural world. People have been utilizing advances to make their life simpler. They misuse natural assets and cause deforestation, contamination, an unnatural weather change, environmental change, oil slicks, and ozone layer exhaustion. The unique marine biological system is under danger because of oil slicks and contamination. Ozone layer exhaustion is presenting the earth to the risky bright beams. The world’s normal temperature is ceaselessly rising, and the atmosphere isn’t following the regular examples. A large segment of woodlands has been cleared for making the space for horticulture. Each compound of Nature assumes a major job in a human’s presence. Be that as it may, as improvement is occurring, we are hurting our natural resources. For little benefit, we are surrendering a major piece of Nature.

In this way, I might want to wind up my speech with a solicitation that we should think about our condition. We should make an effort not to destroy it by decreasing the utilization of plastic, planting more trees, not squandering papers, supportable turn of events, and so forth.

Thank you for giving your valuable time.

Good morning everyone.

I am standing before you to talk about my topic, Nature. We human beings depend on Nature every time for everything like natural resources. Many people admire the beauty of Nature. Even they write many novels and poems on it because the beauty of Nature cannot be expressed in one single thought or saying. Nature provides the humans, animals, and all the living beings on the earth a place to live. Nature is the world around, as I said before, only, but human beings are destroying it by using its resources in the wrong way and exploiting it. Nature is now totally getting destroyed because of pollution and global warming.

Nature is a good place to be peacefully, but we humans destroy it for our livelihood for our living place and food and needs. Nature would be good only when human beings don’t destroy it and take care of it very well.

Thanks for giving me your time.

Hello everyone! I’m very pleased to be back here today speaking with you all. I’d like to give a big thank you to the BIS team for putting together this remarkable conference.

The last time I spoke at this conference was in 2022. Looking back, I don’t think anyone expected that in two years’ time, Russia’s illegal war of aggression against Ukraine would still be ongoing. But I believe that is a testament to the courage, grit, and determination of the Ukrainian people and their leadership, and to the steadfast support of democracies and industry around the world standing up for what is right.

I know Ambassador Markarova spoke here yesterday. And I just want to say – we stand with you, we’re inspired by you, and the Department of Commerce will continue to do everything we can to support Ukraine and its people during this challenging time.

Our support is spearheaded by Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security.

BIS is a critical part of this Department’s national security strategy and as many of you here know has been at the vanguard of our national security work for decades.

So what’s changed? The demand for BIS’s work has skyrocketed. As a result, both the scale and scope of its efforts have increased exponentially. Put simply: BIS is doing more work, on more complex challenges, faster than ever before.

And that is true across all aspects of BIS’s work. License applications, rules, entity listings, enforcement, industry and international engagement – BIS is the tip of the spear on addressing threats from our adversaries and protecting our technology and goods from abuse by malign actors who seek to use them against us.

But let me take a step back and tell you how we got here.

In recent times, we’ve witnessed a number of acute shocks to the global environment. Russia’s brutal war is one example. The COVID-19 pandemic is another. It laid bare the real vulnerabilities in our supply chains, following the decades-long hollowing out of America’s industrial base.

But there’s even more beyond that. Our larger strategic environment has also transformed in the last decade. We now live in an era of strategic competition and global interdependence.

The PRC, for example, is the only state with both the intent and increasingly, the power to reshape the existing international order – an order that has prevailed for the last three-quarters of a century. The problem that poses is exacerbated by the breakneck pace of technological development, global democratic backsliding, and greater challenges to global and regional governance across the world. At the same time, the PRC and the United States are reliant on one another economically and share interests in addressing transnational problems, such as the systemic threat of climate change.

The complexity of the China challenge is rooted in the interconnected relationship between economics, science, technology, and national security. And the Department of Commerce sits at that very nexus, and so has never been more central to ensuring our country’s national security than today.

And our national security priorities reflect the strategic moment we’re facing. For each of those priorities, BIS is a critical piece of our strategy. Let me give two brief examples.

First, take critical and emerging technologies, or CET. As President Biden has stated time and again, the world will witness more technological change in the next few years than in the last fifty. Critical and emerging technologies — such as quantum information science, biotech, AI, and others – are driving this transformation. These technologies will increasingly underpin how societies function, interact, and grow.

CET are especially important to the future of society, but like all technologies, they can be manipulated by our adversaries to endanger and harm our national security interests, including through efforts to modernize their militaries. We must prevent technology transfer to an adversary that threatens to use our own innovations against us or our allies.

Export controls are some of the Department’s most important tools for protecting CET from such abuse and misuse. We now know the PRC, in particular, will do everything in its power to out-innovate us and to circumvent our regulations.

Export control changes have also increased in frequency, complexity, and significance over the last decade to keep up with the pace of innovation, requiring us to double down on their enforcement.

For example, we are co-leading the Disruptive Technology Strike Force alongside the Department of Justice to investigate and prosecute criminal violations of export laws and enhance administrative enforcement of our export controls.

We have also built upon our partnerships, like the historic Trilateral Leaders’ Summit at Camp David with Japan and South Korea. In February, export control principals from our three countries met in Tokyo to further align on Russia controls, collaborate on outreach to countries in Southeast Asia, and cooperate on controls for CET.

In order to address CET, we must be faster, more agile, and more creative to stay ahead. And that’s the core challenge before us: The very nature of innovation – constant change – means that the job will never be done. So the key to success going forward will be the process of revision, and the strategic impeding and disrupting of adversary advancement when national security interests demand it.

Another national security priority to highlight is our work to counter traditional military threats. Not all abuses of force involve critical and emerging technologies – and even still, Commerce has a significant part to play.

For instance, BIS has long supported State Department-led arms control and nuclear, chemical, and biological nonproliferation efforts by administering and enforcing export controls addressing such concerns. That ongoing work is tremendously important, even though it may not always grab headlines.

But let me return to Russia’s illegal war in Ukraine – a prime example of our work to counter traditional threats. When malign actors abroad use military force that threatens our friends, our shared values, and our collective security, the Commerce Department and the Biden-Harris Administration step up.

Just look at what we’ve accomplished over the last two years.

We cut off trade with Russia in items beyond the Commerce Control List, including thousands of categories of goods identified by six-digit harmonized tariff codes. The use of tariff codes has given us the unprecedented ability to track our controlled trade around the world, and to track down circumvention efforts with new insights into global evasion networks.

We’ve used our Entity List to impose comprehensive license requirements for more than 900 foreign companies supporting Russia, including nearly 250 entities outside Russia who are supporting Russia’s defense industrial base, and recently expanded export controls against thousands of blocked persons designated by the Treasury Department.

We’ve built and maintained a coalition of 39 export control partners, who are substantially aligned with us against Russia, and are working closely with dozens of other nations to cut off transshipment of controlled items to Russia.

We’ve established enforcement information sharing mechanisms with like-minded partners such as the G7 to better coordinate enforcement efforts and make them more effective.

What’s more, we’re working closely with our sister agencies, including the Departments of Justice, Treasury, and Homeland Security, to build out government-wide enforcement policies and actions.

Those are just a few examples that illustrate this simple fact: We’ve accomplished a lot, and we’re going to keep accomplishing more, for as long as Russia’s illegal war persists.

And not just that: we are going to use the lessons we’ve learned in addressing this unnecessary conflict – applying that knowledge to future efforts aimed at protecting the global order.

The last time I spoke here, the theme of the conference was “Building a Network of Global Cooperation”, centering on multilateralism. This year’s theme of “Partnerships in National and Global Security” challenges us to prioritize greater internal coordination, enhance industry engagement, and continue to embrace the importance of multilateral efforts.

So much of this work would be impossible to execute without the work and careful coordination of our interagency partners, but it also highlights the need for partnership collaboration between the federal government and our friends in the private sector.

In September of last year, I had the privilege of leading a cybersecurity trade mission to Korea and Japan, where I got to see firsthand just how important the U.S. private sector is to the enduring national security not just of the United States, but of the whole globe.

We need the private sector’s resources, expertise, and partnership to ensure that the global rules-based economic order can both withstand the threats it faces and strengthen and expand in the decades to come.

In that spirit, we look forward to continuing to develop our National Security Strategy, which will drive us forward in our shared mission to protect, promote, and preserve our national security.

We look forward to deepening our involvement in this important work, at this critical moment in our country’s history, to build a safer and more secure world.

Cancer-vaccine trials give reasons for optimism

Most people think of immunization as a way to prevent infectious disease. Vaccines contain proteins that the immune system can use to identify a pathogen, such as a virus, enabling the body to respond forcefully to it in future. But the immune system doesn’t only defend against foreign invaders — it also responds to threats from within, such as cancer.

Just as pathogens carry distinguishing proteins, known as antigens, so too do cancer cells. The immune system constantly detects and destroys mutating cells, and usually prevents tumours from developing. But sometimes cancer cells acquire mechanisms to evade the immune system. To tackle these cells, some researchers are turning to vaccines — not to prevent cancer, but to treat it.

Nature Outline: Cancer vaccines

The idea of giving people with cancer a vaccine against their own tumours has been pursued for decades to little avail. But several fresh approaches to the problem have spurred anticipation that this could be about to change.

Initial efforts closely resembled conventional vaccines for infectious diseases, delivering one or a few proteins that are commonly expressed by certain cancers. Such vaccines are still in development, but the failure of several shared-antigen vaccines in large clinical trials in the mid-2010s has shifted researchers’ attention towards more-personalized approaches.

Among the most promising are neoantigen vaccines based on the messenger RNA (mRNA) technologies that matured during the COVID-19 pandemic. Neoantigens are proteins generated by mutations unique to a person’s cancer. First, a tumour sample is genetically sequenced. Then, a computer model selects several dozen neoantigens that are likely to generate a strong immune response. These antigens can be delivered by injection in the form of mRNA, DNA or proteins.

Other approaches bypass the need to identify a cancer’s antigens. Ex vivo cell vaccines introduce tumour samples to dendritic cells (a type of immune cell) in culture. These cells, which are crucial to activating and directing tumour-killing T cells, take up an array of neoantigens from the tumour. Then the activated dendritic cells are delivered into an individual.

Another approach — and the furthest removed from conventional immunization — is in situ vaccination, in which the whole process takes place in an individual’s body. Rather than delivering antigens through an injection, this method aims to make use of those that are already there, in the tumour. Radiotherapy or a virus is used to kill cancer cells, releasing neoantigens locally. Simultaneously, the patient is given drugs that mobilize and activate dendritic cells so that they take up these neoantigens and instigate an immune response.

The relative merits of each approach will become clearer as clinical trials advance. As well as efficacy, factors such as the cost of production will affect the vaccines’ clinical uptake. And whichever methods are used, a vaccine by itself might not be enough to enable the immune system to overcome a tumour’s defences — many continuing trials combine a vaccine with a drug to boost T-cell function. But with several early trials yielding promising results, oncologists are optimistic that immunotherapy is poised to receive a transformative shot in the arm.

Taylor Swift to give keynote at 2024 AIA Conference

Emerging music artist Taylor Swift has been announced as the keynote speaker for the AIA Conference on Architecture & Design 2024 . In advance of the event, Archinect has gained exclusive access to a leaked version of Swift’s speech, which is titled ‘A New Architecture Era.’

Swift is expected to begin her speech by taking an adversarial tone with the AIA, questioning if her invitation to deliver the keynote speech was made as a joke. “I don’t like your little games,” she will say. “Don’t like your tilted stage; the role you made me play of the fool.”

In addition to taking aim at the AIA, Swift is also expected to use the speech to offer an atonement for her involvement as an advisor for Saudi Arabia’s NEOM project. “I knew you were trouble when you walked in,” she will say, directly addressing the project organizers. “So, shame on me now. You flew me to places I’d never been, now I’m lyin’ on the cold hard ground.”

Turning to her vision for the future of the built environment, Swift will dwell on the simple solutions available to architects to improve urban streets , including installing furniture such as benches and seating areas for citizens to enjoy. “Walking the streets with you in your worn-out jeans, I can’t help thinking this is how it ought to be,” Swift’s speech reads. “Laughing on a park bench thinking to myself: Hey, isn’t this easy?”

Having recently downsized her fleet of private jets from two to one, Swift is expected to encourage the audience to practice environmental responsibility in their own work. Emphasizing the need for buildings to be designed with longevity and resilience in mind, Swift will say: “It’s gonna be forever, Or it’s gonna go down in flames.” In a message to those skeptical of investing in resilient design, Swift goes on to say: “You can tell me when it’s over, mm, If the high was worth the pain.”

Swift is expected to close the speech by offering future services as a design consultant. “I could show you incredible things,” Swift will say about her design ability. “Magic, madness, heaven, sin.” Seeking to dismiss negative feedback from previous clients, she will continue: “Got a long list of ex-lovers. They’ll tell you I’m insane,” before suggesting that interested design teams reach out to schedule an initial consultation. “I’ve got a blank space, baby,” the speech concludes. “And I’ll write your name.”

I believed for a millisecond then remember the time that IKEA sponsored The Vessel at Hudson Yards and realized. Ope.

Donna Sink

Well done, Archinect! If I knew any TS lyrics I'd quote them back at you.

I wonder why they cancelled Donald Trump for her?

yeah lets get the trendy artist to speak who doesn't know anything about architecture to give us a keynote. As if watching the superbowl clips of her weren't enough.

Sounds believable for AIA. Yeah, it's April 1st but if she was actually going to do that, cool. The only thing I would have a reason for disbelief is AIA letting someone as a keynote speaker, that would criticize the AIA in such a critical fashion. Hard to know Taylor Swift's position on architectural matters. Have she even been asked or opine on the subject matter? I don't know. Given that it isn't unheard of for Archinect to do an April's Fools Day joke, I'll consider this a probable joke for the day. However, it is actually a fairly believable joke. Good job, Archinect. A joke believable enough to not be instantly disbelieved. I could actually see AIA doing that if they cobbled enough money and crowd to sponsor also a music stage show or something like that.

Now that I dropped a ton of $$$$ on company stock that makes swift boats, where do I sign up for tickets to the lecture?

English Summary

1 Minute Speech on Nature In English

A very good morning to one and all present here. Today, I will be giving a short speech on the topic of nature.

Google defines the term ‘nature’ to be “the phenomena of the physical world collectively, including plants, animals, the landscape, and other features and products of the earth, as opposed to humans or human creations.”

Simply put, whatever exists in the Universe by itself without the touch of human beings can be classified as natural or nature in itself. This, as the definition clearly states, is of course not specific to living things but to non-living things that are not man-made as well.

“One touch of nature makes the whole world kin”, said William Shakespeare bringing forth the importance of nature. Our food, water, air, sunlight, and shelter all come from nature. Without nature, in fact, human beings would cease to exist.

Albert Einstein has said, “Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.” Indeed, cherish nature and protect it!

Thank you.
