Doctoral education at the University of Eastern Finland is offered by doctoral programmes within the UEF Doctoral School. Our doctoral programmes cover all scientific fields of the university, and all doctoral students complete their studies in one of the programmes. The ultimate goal is to educate highly skilled researchers and experts.

Requirements of doctoral studies. For a doctoral degree, you have to complete studies worth of 30 to 50 credits depending on your doctoral programme. The majority of studies are discipline-specific studies, and the minority transferable skills, which are typically 5-15 credits depending on your doctoral programme. Please, see below for details.
