That means referencing the number of clients you’ve worked with, how many clients you’ve signed on, how well you’ve improved a company’s close rate, and any similar statistics you can provide that demonstrate your familiarity with client relations. Businesses may be looking to hire a business development specialist to help them assess and restructure their departments to improve their marketing capacity. If the listing mentions analyzing, assessing, restructuring, or similar terminology, you should include accomplishments and skills related to data or finance management. As another example, the business may be looking for a business development specialist with marketing skills. If the listing includes product management, marketing, advertising, or branding, emphasize your relevant background.

   Focus on your business development skills

Business development professionals can come from a wide variety of backgrounds, and it may be tempting to include career experience from multiple positions, departments, or industries. Ultimately, though, hiring managers are looking for a somewhat specific skill set in business development professionals (outlined above), and it is important to keep those skills prominent in your resume. In the event that you have had a career change or a significant gap in your employment, you should still focus on the most relevant business development skills in your job experience or extracurricular or volunteer activities. Overview: DT Global is seeking a Business Development Associate to join our Business Development Division. This role will serve as a supporting member of the Business Development team and will provide essential coordination and administrative support. Tasks and Responsibilities:

Business Development Administration

  • Support various aspects of the business development process to develop positioning, capture, and proposal development skills.
  • Track business development donor forecasts, conduct desk research in support of specific opportunities or general market intelligence, and prepare competitors analysis.
  • Support capture managers with development of internal BD process documentation, including Opportunity Assessment Forms and Capture Plans, and upload documentation and maintain practice proposal files in knowledge management systems (e.g. NetSuite, SharePoint, and Knowledge Hub).
  • Work closely with the capture/proposal manager during capture and once a solicitation is live, to coordinate logistics and administrative tasks through each stage of the proposal cycle, including coordinating with support teams such as pricing, recruitment, production, and contracts.
  • Draft, review, and format proposal documents including proposal annexes, and recruitment and partner documentation to be tailored to the requirements of the proposal solicitation.
  • Track progress on recruiting and securing staff, review, format, and spin CVs for key and non-key personnel positions.
  • In coordination with proposal managers, prepare pre-teaming agreements, teaming agreements, consulting agreements, and Letters of Commitment for proposal partners and consultants.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support for capture trips and may participate in capture trips in a variety of roles including logistics support, note taking, and recruitment.
  • Maintain record keeping for technical and local consultants and manage logistics and administrative tasks for consultants, including travel and submission of timesheets and expense reports.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to program management unit (PMU) members serving in proposal coordinator roles during capture and live proposals.
  • Maintain and update all BD files on SharePoint with necessary information to support overall BD knowledge management and proposal files.

  • Contribute to technical solution designs, reviews, and analysis of proposals and business development strategy.
