Table of Contents

An Essay About My Favorite Sport: Swimming

What initially drew me to swimming is how free it feels to move around in the water. (Topic sentence) Gliding through each stroke transports me to a magical underwater world. I can explore styles like front crawl, backstroke and butterfly while building skills. Races with friends add an exciting competitive edge, too. Being weightless yet strong in the pool allows one to express creativity in new ways other sports can’t match. Simply playing around makes swimming a blast each time!

Total (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Body Workout

Another major plus is how swimming engages my whole body for a challenging workout. (Transition) From powerful kicks to full arm pulls, even my core gets a squeeze with every lap. (Topic sentence) Water’s resistance targets muscles in a low-impact manner, too. No other activity leaves me feeling tired yet rejuvenated like swimming does every day. Keeping my endurance and strength fit while having fun makes swimming win over other options.

Lifelong Sport

One final thing I appreciate about swimming is how it promotes an active lifestyle anywhere, anytime. (Topic sentence) Unlike some sports limited by weather, equipment or fields, all swimming takes is me and available pool space. This accessibility means it’s a skill I can enjoy from childhood and carry through adulthood. Swimming opens opportunities to bond anywhere while keeping my mind and body in shape for many years. That lifelong value seals its place as my top sports favorite.

In closing, with its total body workout, stress-free nature and ability to bring me joy anywhere, swimming has shown itself as the perfect activity. I look forward to developing my skills and competing against myself each practice. Whether spending time with friends or laps alone, swimming allows me to express myself in ways no other sport can match. It will forever be my sport of choice for all these reasons and more!

Why Swimming in the Best Sport?

This essay will present arguments for why swimming is considered one of the best sports. It will cover the physical, mental, and emotional benefits of swimming, its accessibility to people of all ages and abilities, and the unique advantages it has over other sports. At PapersOwl, you’ll also come across free essay samples that pertain to Anxiety.

How it works

The reason that swimming is the best sport because the buoyancy of the water counteracts the force of gravity, making swimming a perfect low-impact sport that puts little stress on bones and joints. What are the benefits? It is a great way to burn calories: an hour of swimming burns 500 calories. If you burn 500 calories more than you eat every day, you can lose a pound a week. You can lose almost 90% of your body weight with swimming. It takes more physical effort to swim two miles than it does to run two miles.

It is a low-impact exercise, and it is better for older people to pick swimming over running.

Swimming is an aquatic sport. It is both aerobic and anaerobic exercise and an activity that burns lots of calories, is easy on the joints, supports your weight, boosts flexibility, and builds muscular strength and endurance. It is one of the few sports or activities that doesn’t cost lots of money or require any equipment. It holds no age or ability barrier. Swimming balances blood pressure and normalises pulse rate.

Do you sweat when you swim? Because your body heat is conducted by colder pool water, you don’t sweat nearly as much as you would if you were exercising out of water. Have you ever tried going for a run in 90-degree heat vs swimming in 90- degree heat. Which one is easier? Swimming! Not only is swimming more fun than running, but it’s it’s easier. Swimming is easier on your body than running or playing volleyball. When you swim, you get a full-body workout that is easier on your joints than running. When you are swimming, you are working mostly your lower body, including your guts, hamstrings, calves and quadriceps. You can burn off roughly 400 calories during a vigorous, intense 30-minute swim. But in running you only burn roughly 308 calories during a 30-minute run at 6 mph.

Did you know that swimming actually reduces anxiety and stress and relaxes your muscles. When you are anxious, one solid swimming session can help you to shake off the pressure and reset your mind and mood. Whether you have an anxiety disorder or simply are more anxious than you want to be, swimming can help you gain relief from symptoms and even prevent future episodes of stress and anxiety.

Some people question whether swimming is a real sport; but did you know it’s one of the most intense sports out there? The reason is because swimming is a full body exercise. You name the muscle, swimming probably uses it.

The reason I find swimming to be the best sport is because, it’s fun. It’s something you can do with your friends, get exercise, and still have fun in the summer. All you have to do is learn how to swim and buy a swimsuit. Although you do have to wake up at 6 A.M. It is still worth jumping into a freezing pool every morning.

My favourite sport is swimming

My favourite sport is swimming. I learned swimming when i was only 5 and before that i had an extreme fear of what i reffered to as the “deep end.” I soon got over this fear as i was once thrown into the deeper end of the water and started instinctively paddling my arms and legs. There are several reasons why I prefer swimming over all other sports. However the topmost remains, my love of water. Aside from that, another large advantage that swimming has over other sports is that you do not need a ton of gear to enjoy this sport. The only thing i use whenever i go swimming is a pair of goggles and my swim trousers. Swimming is great for fitness which offers health benefits for a lifetime and is well worth the effort it takes to get into the pool. It increases lung capacity and makes the heart pump better. For me swimming is a mixture of exercise and fun. Spending time floating on my back listening to the water lap my feet is so soothing and relaxing that it makes me wish I didn’t ever have to step out of the water.

My Favorite Sport Swimming

Swimming is a great recreational activity for people of all ages. As well as being fun, swimming is a great way to keep fit, stay healthy, and make friends. Swimming has been my favorite sport since I was very small. I learned to swim when I was just 8 years old and my parents tell me that I took to swimming as a fish takes to water. There are several reasons why I prefer swimming over all other sports. However the topmost remains, my love of water. Besides, swimming does not require expensive gear. A swimsuit and a pair of waterproof goggles and you are now set to swim.

There are various strokes we can use to add variety to our swimming workout, including:

  • breaststroke

Each focuses on different muscle groups, and the water provides a gentle resistance. No matter what stroke we swim, we are using most of our muscle groups to move our bodies through the water. Freestyle races in major championships are over 50m, 100m, 200m, 400m and 1500m for men, with the 800m instead of the 1500m for women.

In the other strokes, both men and women race over 100m and 200m. There are medley races for both men and women, over 200m and 400m, in which each stroke has swum for 50m and 100m respectively, the order being a butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle. Relay races include 4x100m and 4x200m, as well as a medley 4x 100m relay in which the order of the strokes is backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, and freestyle. The standard long-course swimming events take place in Olympic-size pools, which measure 50m approximately and which have eight lanes, 2.3m wide.

There are some reasons why swimming is popular. Firstly, swimming is a sport for all age groups; besides, it is a lifetime activity. People can learn to swim as young as 4 or 5 years old or as old as 60 or 70. All it takes is the right instruction and desire to get in the pool. Secondly, swimming is cheap. Actually you don’t have to spend much money on it. All you need is just a swimsuit that makes you feel comfortable and a goggle that keeps water from your eyes. Even though you have to buy an admission ticket, it is not so expensive. Anyone can afford to go swimming. Finally, swimming is one of the most popular sports in the world. Besides its popularity, swimming is a good activity that provides individuals with several physical benefits. First of all, swimming is a movement through water using one’s legs and arms that provides an all-body workout. As all of our muscles are used during swimming, it is an excellent form of exercise.

Some people who enjoy swimming want to take it to a competitive level. This can provide the health benefits of a vigorous workout as well as the fun and thrill of competition. The main strokes used in competitive swimming are breaststroke, freestyle, backstroke, and butterfly. The distances swum in competition swimming can vary from 50 meters in a pool to many further distances in open water.

Swimming for fitness is an activity that offers health benefits for a lifetime and is well worth the effort it takes to get into the pool. It increases lung capacity and makes the heart pump better. It gives us the chance to hang around with friends frolicking in the water. It gives us respite from the heat. Regular swimming builds endurance, muscle strength, and cardiovascular fitness. It can serve as a cross-training element to our regular workouts.

Besides, people of all ages can swim. As swimming is a non-weight bearing exercise it is easy on the joints and even people with arthritis can swim without worrying that the exercise might ruin their bones further. Swimming burns calories a mile per pound of bodyweight so it’s a good exercise for weight loss as well.

There are many psychological benefits to swimming. If we relax and swim with very little effort and let our mind wander focusing on nothing but the rhythm of our stroke before long a feeling of well-being settles similar to the feeling one gets from meditation. For me, swimming is a mixture of exercise and fun. Spending time floating on my back listening to the water lap my feet is so soothing and relaxing that it makes me wish I didn’t ever have to step out of the water.

My Favorite Sport is Swimming

My favorite sport unquestionably is swimming. I learned swimming when I was six years old and my parents tell me-that I took to swimming like a fish takes to water. There are several reasons why I prefer swimming over allother sports. However, the topmost remains, my love of water. Besides, swimming does not require expensive gear. A swimsuit and a pair of waterproof goggles and you are set to swim.

There are four strokes in competitive swimming. The freestyle which is my personal favorite has no restrictions. The three other styles are the backstroke, the breaststroke, which is commonly called as frog style, and the butterfly. The mechanics and the turns are strictly regulated in these three strokes. Freestyle races in major championships are over 50m, 100m, 200m, 400m and 1500m for men, with the 800m instead of the 1500m for women. In the other three strokes, both men and woman race over 100m and 200m. The standard long-course swimming events take place in Olympic-size pools, which measure 50m approximately and which have eight lanes, 2.3m wide. Competitors dive in from starting blocks, except for the backstroke, which is started in the pool, and are timed to the 1/1000th of a second by touching the electronic pads at the finish. Swimmers must keep in their own lanes, marked with ropes on the surface. Lines of flags hang over the pool to let backstrokers know when they are within 5m of a turn or the finish. The competitor with the fastest entry time is assigned the lane on the right of the centre line. Slower swimmers are assigned lanes alternately to the left and right with the slowest swimmers in the outside lanes. If entry times are an indicator of form, the swimmers should spread out into a spearhead formation. Michael Phelps an American swimmer won a record eight medals for swimming at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. The American swimmers are the highest medal takers at the Olympics. There are various other sports that are associated with swimming like synchronized swimming, long distance swimming and water polo.

Swimming for fitness is an activity which offers health benefits for a lifetime and is well worth the effort it takes to get into the pool. It increases lung capacity and makes the heart pump better. It gives you the chance to hang around with friends frolicking in the water. It gives you respite from the heat. Regular swimming builds endurance, muscle strength, and cardio-vascular fitness. It can serve as a cross-training element to your regular workouts. Besides, people all ages can swim. As swimming is a non-weight bearing exercise it is easy on the joints and even people with arthritis can swim without worrying that the exercise might, ruin their bones further. Swimming burns calories a mile ‘per pound of body weight so it’s a good exercise for weight loss as well.

My Favourite Game Swimming Essay

essay about my favourite sport swimming

Introduction

When we were small, what do you think most thrilled us? Is it a day out in the park or a beach trip? Most of us would have answered the latter, and this explains why children like to spend time in the water. Even our kids will jump with joy when they get a chance to play inside a pool and lay there for several hours. If your kids have a special liking for beaches, pools and small rivers, why not engage them in the relaxing sport of swimming? My favourite game swimming essay is written for young children to know more about it.

In this essay on overcoming the fear of swimming, we will describe an experience that led a child to conquer his fear of water, and how he mastered the game of swimming. Swimming is a healthy exercise, and introducing kids to this sport at an early age will hugely impact them in many ways.

Experience in Swimming

It was during one summer, when I was 6 years old, my parents took me to a nearby beach to spend the evening playing on the sand and swimming on the beach. Although I had seen many swimming pools, it was the first time that I was exposed to a huge water body, and the thought itself made me nervous and excited at the same time. This essay on my favourite game swimming explains how I began to like swimming.

The sight of the beach and waves coming to the shore made me want to take a dip in it, but I was afraid to go near it. My father took my hands and brought me closer to the waves, and I became enthusiastic when those cold waters touched my feet. We went further deeper, and that was when I lost my balance and fell into the water . For a second, I did not understand what was happening. Although I was pulled out of the water suddenly, the incident made me scared, and I never went near the water again.

So, swimming was the most feared game in my life at that point, but due to the compulsory participation in school, I had to keep my worries aside and face my fears head-on. My swimming instructor played a huge role in overcoming my fears, and once I was assured that I wouldn’t drown if I knew swimming, I was motivated to learn and master it.

I felt special when I wore the swimsuit and goggles to practise swimming, and the sport made me relax and kept my mind calm. While floating on the water, I felt so lightweight and thought about how swimming made my problems, tensions, and worries go away. I would also like to mention how I participated in swimming competitions through this essay on my favourite sport swimming. At the sound of the gunshot, I raced myself against other competitors in the pool and crossed the finish line first. Through consistent practice and hard work, I was able to defeat my fears and thereby enjoy the benefits of swimming. You should say:

  • How you first knew about it
  • How often you practise it
  • And explain why it is your favourite sport.

Sample 1 – Football

I would like to talk about my favorite sport, which is football, the king of sport to everyone in Vietnam.

I first knew about it when I was 15 years old. It was my classmates who invited me to join his football club with other friends in his neighborhood. I had a great time with them, for sure.

I used to play it after school with my friends as it was the only free time I have for the whole day. Nowadays I am pretty busy with my work and study so I had to give up the hobby. But sometimes if I have a long holiday I will arrange a small football match with my old classmates. Those football matches often end with us being in a small restaurant where we drink and chit-chat.

I love this sport for several reasons: First, it helps to improve my physical and mental health. Second, I can also learn teamwork skills which are crucial in all aspects of life. Last but not least, since I started playing this sport, I have made a lot of friends who are now my best playmates.

Sample 2 – Swimming

I would like to talk about my favorite sport, which is swimming.

I first knew about it when I was 10 years old. My mom thought that I should learn to swim at an early age so that I wouldn’t drown in the water. Frankly speaking, I kinda enjoyed the swimming class as I guess I was born with the Water element.

Nowadays, I still keep the habit of going to the swimming pool every Saturday afternoon with my boyfriend who is also a fan of this water sport. Only when I am snowed under a heavy workload do I ever skip a day.

I love this sport for several reasons: First, it helps to keep my body in perfect shape. Second, swimming is a great sport for me to improve my height. Last but not least, since I started this sport, I barely feel stressed or overworked. All in all, I suggest this sport is a must-have pastime for everyone.

Sample 3 – Badminton

I would like to talk about my favorite sport, which is badminton, a popular sport in Vietnam.

I first knew about it when I was 15 years old. My father thought that I was a bit overweight so he forced me to join a badminton training course with his friends. I have to admit that even though I was a bit upset for being made to do something against my will, I soon got into it after only a week.

Unfortunately, these days, as a white-collar, I mostly spend my day in the office and only reach home by 7 p.m. So, I do not have any time for badminton anymore.

Anyway, I still love this sport for several reasons: First, it helped me to lose some weight which led to better health. Second, when I practiced the sport in the sports center near my house, I made plenty of cool friends who supported me a lot in life. Last but not least, after knowing this sport, I would say for sure I could overcome my timidity of being a big size person and make an effort to change my look. All in all, I suggest this sport is a must-have pastime for everyone.

Sample 4 – Taekwondo

I would like to talk about my favorite sport, which is Taekwondo, a kind of martial art from Korea.

I first knew about it when I was 15 years old. My parents thought that I should learn something to defend myself from bullies at school. Also, I was a bit overweight so this was a perfect sport for me. I soon got into it quickly and it has become my most favorite pastime activity even until now when I am 23 years old.

Oftentimes, as I have no classes on Sunday afternoon, I will spend my free time enjoying this sport with other martial artists in a sports club near my house. They are quite helpful in showing me some tactics and effective moves. Sometimes we hold some small matches for fun and have a feast in a small restaurant afterward.

There are several reasons why I am truly in love with Taekwondo. First, thanks to this sport, I could lose some weight and at the moment I have a kind of a fit body. Second, since I started this sport I have hardly catch any common health issues like fever, flu, or cold. Third, my social circle has been getting wider and wider as I have met so many cool mates who come from all walks of life. All in all, I suggest this sport is a must-have pastime to try.

Sample 5 – Running

I would like to talk about my favorite sport, which is running, an easy and free sport to try for everyone.

I only started it a few months ago thanks to my colleagues who are professional runners. I was convinced by how well-shaped they look and how passionate they are about this sport. Therefore, I decided to follow them and try running in the park near my office. Honestly speaking, I fell in love with it pretty quickly after a week though at the beginning I was almost exhausted.

I always reach the park at 5 p.m after work then run around it until 6 p.m. On Saturday when I only work in the morning, I spend more than two hours running in the afternoon and I have to admit that Saturday is the most productive day for me to run. Sometimes when my colleagues can join me in the park, we have a great journey together and share fun office stories during our breaks.

There are several reasons why I am fond of this sport. First, it is a rather cheap and easy sport to try. All we need is a pair of running shoes and a bottle of water. Second, this is a sport that everyone of all age brackets and genders can enjoy, which also brought me some new friends while doing it in the park. They are quite nice and friendly people. Third, since I started this sport I hardly catch any common health issues like fever, flu, or cold. What’s more? I can perform better at work and show higher productivity only after a month of training. I mean I can work for longer hours without feeling tired. All in all, I recommend that everyone try this sport.

My favourite sport is everyone’s favourite. Yes, Cricket it is. Cricket is often known as the ‘ Gentleman’s Game .’ Almost every Indian loves cricket for us this sport is not just a game it is an emotion. The entire Nation keeps a keen eye on the World Cup match when our country is performing.

My idol is Hon’ble Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni. In my childhood, I tried to copy their style and always wished to be a good cricket player. As it is rightly said ‘Practice makes a Man Perfect.’ I also believed in it and practised with my school cricket team to become a good cricket player. My endurance and dedication helped me to secure the position of opening batsman for the school cricket team and we are presenting our school at the district-level cricket competition.

The main reason cricket resonates with me is its rich history and traditions. It’s a sport that has been played for centuries, and it carries with it a sense of timelessness. The iconic venues, the legends of the game, and the celebrated rivalries all contribute to the sport’s allure. Whether it’s the Ashes battles between England and Australia or the fervent India-Pakistan contests, cricket has a way of gripping the hearts and minds of fans around the world.

Cricket not only teaches sportsmanship but also helps us learn about teamwork, patience, dedication, etc. My dream is to build a successful cricket career. To accomplish my goals I am planning to take admission in the cricket academy and learn from experts.

In conclusion, cricket is more than a sport to me; it’s a culture, a passion, and a source of endless joy in my life. Its rich heritage, technical intricacies, and life lessons will forever held close to my heart.

Essay on My Favourite Sport Badminton

Among all the indoor and outdoor activities, I love to play badminton the most. Badminton is played as an indoor and outdoor game but traditionally it was an indoor game. It is one of the most admired sports among children and adults. Badminton is my favourite sport because it requires speed, practice, precision, stamina, and accuracy all at the same time.

A player needs to be very attentive while playing badminton. When each stroke of the shuttle makes a ‘whoosh’ sound, it infuses a feeling of competitiveness and enthusiasm to perform extraordinarily against the opponent.

I am a huge admirer of Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu. Watching them perform makes me feel so proud and more inclined towards the sport. It’s my dream to play a badminton tournament at the National level and win for the country.
