1. Life achievements and success are determined by the number of hurdles an individual is able to jump. Academics is one such hurdle but with many challenges that require intelligence, wisdom, dedication and self motivation, among other aspects. It is the dream of each individual to obtain the highest possible achievement in academics. However, academic success requires one to systematically climb up a ladder from the lowest position and get promotion with each success in the preceding stages I am helpful, diligent, trustworthy and cooperative. I consider myself to be a social person and outgoing. I easily make friends and my temperament is very low. This aspect has enhanced my inter-relationship with other students in middle school. This has not only helped me to grow but has also increased my leadership skills.

2. My mum is the person who has significantly influenced my life. She is a role model and a strong influence in my life. My mother has suffered parental loss, and what might be one of the hardest things to do, raising 6 kids. She taught me about character; and the values of working hard. She always told me that I could not get somewhere without working hard. She taught me the tough lessons of life that some individuals learn too late or never at all. She did all what she could to get us to higher education even though she never had the chance to attend any college.

Despite the fact that she did not go to school, it doesn’t imply that she’s not educated. She loves reading. She is intelligent and knows a lot of things about life and at all time has her view, for instance, about environment, political problems and so on. She has molded me to the person I am today. Persistence and long-term achievement almost always go hand in hand, especially when a human being attempts what seems impossible to others. My mum used to narrate to me stories about sherry Huang. Sherry Huang is an author who has written several inspirational children’s book. Sherry’s experiences inspired me the most. I read most of sherry Huang books that contained uplifting and encouraging messages. The lessons tucked into her captivatingly illustrated books range from appreciating what you have to helping the environment in practical ways of being loving and tolerant towards others.

3. During my school life, I relentlessly set high standards and defied many odds to perform better than anybody else. I had an indelible passion for the game of volleyball, and in spite of the piling anticipation for my first middle school volleyball trials, my skills did not tantamount to those of my peers. With months of excessive weight training and preparation over summer I made it to the team. My volleyball experience was quite the rollercoaster ride as I transitioned from a starter to a 12th girl off the bench. In my middle school grade, it was difficult striking a balance between sports and academics. Thus, my volleyball skills slowly diminished. The coach had already noticed the slopping trend and chided me. I started proving my dogged coach that I deserved to be on the team gain and refused anyone to look at me condescendingly. I finally made it in the list again.

I also attended English classes in a nearby school. My goal was to ensure that in each English test I took, I obtained at least 60% of the required marks. Moreover, I decided to make my own efforts improving my English skills. Each day, I had to make sure that I learned at least five new English words, learn how they are pronounced and how they are used in constructing correct sentences. Many were the times I would fail to retain the words I learnt each day, and at least two times I failed to reach the sixty percent mark in two exams. Despite this, I persistently followed my program, and this helped me achieve the English skills I have today.

4. Conflict occurs at all places; at homes, the workplace, leadership and government, there are always issues of disagreement. Conflict is defined as a situation in which two or more parties are in disagreement, whether people or organizations, and in which the disagreement is caused by different views held by the two or more parties. I was once involved in a conflict with my middle school teacher. A new teacher had just been recruited and demanded that things and duties ought to be run differently. The changes were reactionary in nature since I had to go about my regular duties until the teacher came by and criticized the way I was doing my work

5. I have always had a passion to become a neurosurgeon and I believe Newark academy is a really good private institute that will help me achieve my goal in life. It will help prepare me for the challenges that I will have to take in life. Academically, I have been a strong-minded and serious person. I always set high expectations and work harder than anybody else in school.

I am also friendly, lively, kindhearted, self-motivated, action oriented, and outgoing. My grades have been constantly above average. I also have excellent written and verbal communication. I am also well acquainted with computers. I am able to share vital information and knowledge with different teams and can arrange group discussions in order to keep up with the education demands of my career.

6. I wish to apply an opportunity for my child to study at Newark Academy. Newark Academy in is precisely what she need to prepare for her profession life. I am determined that Newark Academy will deliver her to her achievement as best as I plan it to, and can accomplish her ambition of becoming triumphant in the industry through Newark Academy outstanding educational program.

I have chosen Newark Academy for my child since it will help her gain the knowledge, tools and skills to identify with the day today activities. Newark Academy will allow her to enjoy the greatest opportunity of pursuing international study. Newark Academy Is in one of the Cities’ in the World that facilitates students to study with other students and faculty around the globe. It is a place where almost all nations of the world are represented in the public school scheme by their native speakers. It gives students the chance to familiarize the world. I therefore believe that my child has what it takes to make it in the Newark Academy. This would help her to establish a firm academic basis for her future.

7. My child is strong willed and a team player that can easily get along with other people. She enjoys challenges she believes in value action and vision. She is a hard worker and a quick learner. She is an outgoing person and her hobbies include watching movies, swimming, reading novels, travelling and dancing. She is an easy going girl that works well with everybody. She enjoy being around different types of individuals and she always like to challenge herself and try to improve at everything she does. She is an open-minded and inquisitive girl who enjoys doing research and learning new things. She is also an optimist who's driven by positive thinking no matter how hard things are. She always challenge herself to feel better and she gives her all to any kind of work she does and always looking ahead to the next one at hand. Writing your academic achievements in a scholarship essay is sometimes confusing. Some students get stranded when they are asked to write about their academic achievements. They don’t know how to, or what accomplishments they have achieved since their school years.

Every student has an achievement. However, some feel they don’t. Your academic achievements don’t necessarily mean something memorable. It can be things you’ve done that you may deem as “achievements.”

Have you helped your colleague pass an exam? Did you find a way to get through a major academic struggle through hardship? Have you used your knowledge to solve a community problem? These few things are also achievements.

It is very important you include your educational achievements in your essay, especially when you are instructed to do so, or applying for a scholarship.

Academic achievement simply means your overall performance in respect to intellectual activities acquired in a school, college or university. It is also defined as any identifiable success in the areas of scholarship or disciplined study.

Achievements show your improvements, weaknesses and future expectations. A student’s academic achievements shows proof of possible expectations of that scholar in the nearest future.

Most times, Scholarship organizations require you to write about your school achievements because they want convincing reasons for investing in your studies.

Examples of Academic Achievements

Scholarships/Grants

If you have ever won a scholarship , consider it as an academic achievement. You can include any grant or bursary you have won during the course of your study. It could be a college scholarship, or even a vocational training scholarship. These are achievements you earned relating with education. However, if you haven’t received a scholarship, you can leave out this as an option.

Awards won during school activities

This is very important. List out the awards you have received during your entire school life. It could be an award for the best outstanding student, most creative student, most outspoken student etc. It could even be the most beautiful student on campus. Either way, these achievements should be stated.

If you haven’t won any award in school, then you have to work on your personal development.

Volunteer related awards

These awards are usually as a result of your humanitarian works to the community. If you have ever used your abilities and knowledge gained from school to serve others freely, then consider yourself under this category.

Getting an honor roll can boast your chances of winning a scholarship. If you earn an “A” in every class, it is an academic accomplishment. Your scholarship essay would be more endowed when you include your honor rolls.

It is not compulsory you possess all the aforementioned examples of academic achievements. However, the more accomplishments you have, the higher your chances of winning a scholarship.

How to describe your Academic Achievements

One of the best methods of describing your academic accomplishments is by story telling. Story telling keeps your reader’s glued to your essay. Once you can retain your reader’s attention, you are on the right path to winning the financial aid.

Begin by starting with your first achievement in school. It could be in your third grade or not. Tell your story of achievements from your first day at school. Flow with good comprehension till your current school level.

If you don’t have an achievement, you can state how hardworking you have been since school. Example, “While I always did my best in my academics, I was never necessarily awarded an achievement. What I did instead was… etc.”

Some Scholarship essays have a limited number of words. Mostly, these essays allow students to use a minimum of 300 words and maximum of 750 words. This means you are expected to go straight to the point. Writing a lengthy essay can easily bore your readers. Keep it brief and precise.

List your School Accomplishments

While you tell your achievements in the form of a story, ensure it is listed out. For example, if you got three achievements in sixth grade, make a list of those achievements. Just ensure you don’t make a lengthy essay. Remember to maintain your story telling.

Academic Achievements for a Scholarship Essay Examples

I will be sharing with you some examples of how to write your educational achievements in an essay for the purpose of a scholarship. Depending on your qualifications, you can choose to implement/modify any of these examples.

When I was in elementary school, I found it difficult to exceed my teacher’s expectations. Growing up in a home where my parents worked full-time and spent little time at home made it even more difficult for me to get ahead in school. I passed an entire semester and almost flunked it for not getting the help I needed, but if I can be honest, my performance overcame it all. I managed where some of my classmates couldn’t, which was to finish school and not give up even when everything seemed against me.

I believe education is the key to success, and I try to connect my passion for education with my desire of helping others. As a result, I decided to be part of the “Help A Student (HAS)” program in school. The program helps freshmen to navigate around school easily. We assist students sort with all the resources they need to kick start high school. Through this program, I have received 2 awards. My first award was given to me by the principal for being the most influential student on campus. My influence was able to help 100 freshmen get the opportunity to acquire a vocational skill. The second award was given to me by my Class supervisor for being the most vibrant student in class. I was also honored to be on the principal’s honor roll list after clearing my 9 subjects with A’s. I then become a student counselor before passing out of high school for college. I believe that education should be a right not a privilege, and when I see that students are being denied the right of acquiring a college education, I feel the need to take action. Consequently, this is the major reason why I decided to be an active member of Help A Student.”

Your academic achievements are very important, especially when applying for a scholarship. Continually work on yourself to build up your achievements. The more accomplishments you possess, the higher your chances of getting a financial aid.

However, academic achievements are also important when writing your resume/CV for a job application. If you don’t have any achievements, start working on your personal development. To make yourself an asset, you need to invest in your growth.

Achievements are the desires that we love to have for. They are our those goals we struggle to achieve. The achievements in personal or professional life are the true identity of a successful and struggling person. The following essay reflects the importance of achievements and a firm call for us to set and struggle to achieve those aims.

Achievement is associated with the targeted goals or aims in life. When we define our action in relation to something like a goal a task is created. A task when fulfilled is called an achievement earned. The struggle in life is the sum total of our achievements, success, failures, mistakes.

Therefore, my achievement, my success or my accomplishment is the name given to my fulfilled goals. The failure, in turns, is the names given to my mistakes, my setbacks, and my loss. Every person in life has some achievements, accomplishments, rewards and successes earned. At the same time mistakes, failures and setbacks as well.

My achievements, my successes and my accomplishments are the one that make me happy and proud. Whereas, my mistakes, my failures and setbacks make me strong and bold.

There are various kinds of achievements one may have. There are some examples of achievements like personal achievements, academic achievements, sports achievements etc. There are various roles in which one achieves something. Taking myself as an example it would be like my achievements as a teacher, my accomplishments as student in school, college or in personal life.

My Academic Achievement

Academic achievements are those gains that are accomplished by a student during his high school, college or university life. These achievements are really the ones you remain prideful throughout your entire life.  Everyone who is well taught has some personal achievements including academic achievements as well.

• My student life has given me many academic achievements that I must be proud of. Some of my academic achievements I have listed below.
• My first academic achievement is that I have successfully completed my education till now with A+ throughout. It is my greatest achievement of life
• My second greatest academic achievement is that I have successfully got admission in my desire career. My parents are proud of me.
• They always wanted me to be a great doctor. It is my passion to serve my country.
• My third biggest academic achievement is that on the basis of good scores and my professional degree, I got study scholarship for UK. I really loved my studying experience there.
• My last academic accomplishment is that I am currently serving successfully as the head of city’s biggest health institute.

2. My Sports (Extracurricular) Achievements Essay

Extracurricular activities are the part of a healthy person. I always take pride in participating in various extracurricular activities in my school. There are a few extracurricular achievements I must be proud of.

•  My first extracurricular achievement was that I won a medal in annual inter schools speech and debates competition. I won first prize in class 5th.
• I am also an avid reader and good writer. My second extracurricular achievement was that I won a cash prize of 10,000 rupees on a essay writing competition. I won with my essay on “Save trees Save Earth” during inter schools essay writing competition. I was in 7th grade at that time.
• I have great interest in sports. I can play cricket very well. It was my biggest sports achievement that I helped my team win the tournament this year, in class 10th. I was awarded man of the match. It is a moment of pride and my greatest extracurricular success.

Achievements and success are the part of one’s life. These are my achievements in my school as a student. I feel a great sense of pride for my student life accomplishment. I will try my level best to add more best personal achievements in my coming life days.

All of my school fellows and my teachers are proud of me. Apart from that I represented my team in annual inter schools cricket tournament. We successfully won the final match. It is my biggest sports achievement of student’s life. I will never forget.

I am grateful to my school teachers and my parents. Thanks to those achievements and set goals I struggled and worked hard. Thereby, I have known how to work hard and how to make achievements. My school achievements are surely going to help me to grow and gain more in my upcoming life days.

Common topics for exceptional personal circumstances essays include natural disasters, long illnesses or injuries, legal or disciplinary action, or personal events that significantly disrupted the applicant’s life. You might also write about circumstances that were not single events, nor a significant change, but did represent an additional challenge to completing or engaging with schoolwork. Examples of this might include a time-consuming job to support your family financially, or poor wifi that prevented you from completing homework. 

As you think about whether to write an exceptional personal circumstances essay, consider these questions. 

• Did the event or events in question affect your ability to attend school? Was school closed, or were you unable to go for any reason?
• Were you unable to access the resources needed to fully engage with school? Perhaps at times you weren’t able to purchase books, consistently access wifi, or use a computer to research and write papers. 
• You may have been able to attend school and access resources, but unable to focus and fully participate due to distress or distraction. This could be from events inside or outside the classroom. Perhaps you were grieving a family member or battling chronic migraines. 
• Finally, are there negative items on your academic or legal record that are going to impact how colleges view you? While you shouldn’t deny or attempt to justify these events, this is a good chance to explain what happened, and how you’ve grown. For example, a student suspended for bullying should explain the events in her own words, taking responsibility and demonstrating that she understands the seriousness of the situation, as failing to address the suspension may show a lack of remorse

If your answer to these questions is “no,” don’t struggle to think of something that maybe could work. By definition, “exceptional personal circumstances” means most people won’t have anything to write about, so unless something immediately jumps into your mind, this opportunity probably isn’t relevant to you.

On the other hand, if you know your circumstances do require some additional explanation, we urge you to provide the admissions committee with all the context they need in order to fully understand your story.

What students often forget is that the admissions committee at your top-choice school is made up of humans — actual, real human beings — who know that the people whose applications they’re reviewing are humans, too. The admissions process at most private schools and many public schools is holistic — meaning they consider the candidate as a person, not as a set of numbers.

This year, the Common App offers 250 words to discuss how COVID-19 and natural disasters specifically impacted you, and 650 words to elaborate on any other circumstances that are relevant to understanding your high school story. Most other application platforms also provide about 500 words for you to provide any additional information you feel is important for admissions officers to have as they make a decision on your application.

It’s important, however, to keep in mind when choosing whether to write something in the additional information section that you should not simply be blaming your bad GPA on a particular teacher not liking you, or trying to downplay getting suspended for cheating. Whatever you choose to include should substantially enhance colleges’ understanding of you as an applicant, by offering a perspective on your record and you as a person that is not otherwise reflected in your essays.

Tips for Writing About Low GPA, Disciplinary Record, etc.

If you feel as though choosing to write a short essay for the additional information section would add significantly to your application, we have a few tips for how to make the most of this space and how to effectively describe exceptional personal circumstances on your college applications.

Firstly, it’s important to be candid and straightforward. For example, if you were subject to disciplinary action for cheating, it’s not in your best interest to try and downplay your own responsibility for your actions or divert the blame to someone else. This will likely strike admissions committees as a transparent attempt to avoid taking responsibility, and it’s doubtful they’ll be moved by that.

Instead, tell the truth about what happened (honestly and objectively), and emphasize what you learned from the experience rather than focusing on the negative consequences. Take the opportunity to draw a contrast between who you were when you made that mistake and who you are now, as that will demonstrate maturity and growth.

Reflect on Your Experiences

If you had several semesters where your GPA dropped below average, you may be concerned about whether this dip in your cumulative GPA will adversely affect your chances at your top choice schools. While grades are obviously extremely important, a 4.0 is not necessary to gain admission to a great school. If the dip was drastic enough that your chances of acceptance are likely to be substantially affected, however, the additional information section provides you with a space to assure admissions officers that you’re a strong candidate nonetheless.

Begin by trying to identify the reasons why your grades dropped. Did you have additional stressors at home that prevented you from doing your work, or from doing it as well as you could have? Did you suffer from an illness (physical or mental) that impeded your ability to perform to your highest ability at home and in class? If you can explain a clear and legitimate reason why your grades dropped, admissions officers will take that into account when considering your academic record.

Remember That Admissions Are Holistic

Although they are certainly not ideal, B’s and even C’s aren’t automatic disqualifiers from admissions, even at the most selective colleges, and the role of grades in admissions is not as black and white as some might assume. Your GPA, whether it is exceptional or less than stellar, is not the be-all and end-all of your application.

The holistic admissions process is personal to each applicant, and considers all dimensions of your application–including extracurriculars, essays, teacher recs, and, yes, exceptional circumstances–not just your academic performance. And admissions officers know some students are better set up for success than others. If you have had poor grades in the past, but there’s a legitimate reason why, providing a clear explanation can show maturity and resilience, two qualities admissions committees value highly in applicants.

Overall, what the holistic admissions process means is that schools aren’t looking for only academically strong candidates, but also those who will contribute to their overall campus environment. If you are able to characterize yourself as an applicant with the maturity to acknowledge past shortcomings and show how you’ve learned from your mistakes, it can work to mitigate poor grades or lackluster extracurricular involvement.

Show Your Growth

It’s also important to communicate how you’ve improved since your dip in grades/disciplinary action/etc., and how you plan to continue performing well for the remainder of high school and throughout college. If you have an upward grade trend, that can provide strong evidence to corroborate what you say in the additional information section. 

This advice applies to applicants who may have less-than-stellar extracurricular profiles as well. Maybe you struggled with untreated anemia early in high school, and the exhaustion you experienced prevented you from dedicating yourself to after-school activities. In that case, explaining how you’ve made an effort to become more involved in extracurriculars since getting your anemia under control with medication can help reassure admissions officers that you will do your very best to be an engaged member of their campus community.

Also remember that in general, it’s better to display stronger academic habits over time, even if you initially struggled, than to have straight A’s initially but allow yourself to become lazy in your last few semesters. Your more recent academic performance is more indicative of the student you’ll be in college.

Have Realistic Expectations

However, it’s important to note that to be admitted to top schools, providing an explanation and having an upward trend in academic performance won’t completely cancel out a relatively low GPA. While, as mentioned before, GPA is not an absolute determinant of whether or not you will be admitted, it is still among the most important aspects of your application.

To be a strong candidate for top schools, your reason for poor performance must be extremely compelling, such as a serious illness, the death of a family member, or other exceptional family circumstances. The same applies for disciplinary records: while minor infractions are more excusable, major instances of academic dishonesty or repeated offenses will harm your application, regardless of how eloquently you write about them in the additional information section.

Be Direct and to The Poin t

Finally, as you’re writing your exceptional personal circumstances statement, remember that this is not a second common app essay, nor a supplemental essay where you demonstrate your writing talent. It’s best to keep these essays short and specific, and to state your circumstances as plainly as possible. 

The admissions committee will not be thinking about the strength of your writing. Rather, they will be evaluating your story and its impact on your academic profile. With this in mind, it’s best to take some time to make sure you’re telling your story as clearly and effectively as possible, versus trying to flex your creative writing muscles.

If you choose to utilize the additional information section, it’s crucial that you highlight how learning from past actions has made you a stronger applicant, rather than focusing on the actions themselves and trying to excuse yourself for or otherwise diminish them.

So much of the application process is, essentially, self-marketing: presenting yourself in the best possible light, emphasizing your strengths, and demonstrating how your overall experiences, positive or negative, have made you into the person you are. A subpar GPA, disciplinary record, or lack of extracurricular involvement might seem like the death knell for your shot at admission to a top school, but this isn’t necessarily true. If you can frame that information in a positive way, its adverse impact on your application can be mitigated.

Writing a Powerful Leadership/Achievement Essay [Sample Essay]

Essays that ask you to write about significant achievements fall under the category of

what are known as behavioral or experiential questions . The basic assumption behind these questions is that past behavior is a great predictor of future behavior . They are all varieties on the theme of “Tell us about a time when you…” These questions are meant to take the measure of your managerial potential.

Let’s look at how one candidate effectively addressed this essay question from  Stanford GSB  (*this question is not from the current application):

Tell us about a time when you made a lasting impact on your organization.

This writer avoids writing about leadership in any generic way and zeroes in on the specific aspects of his contributions and their impact:

Leadership essay example: The Change Agent

When I was invited to become the Vice President and General Manager at Third Way Associates (TWA)* two years ago, the company was in financial and administrative disorder. Employee retention was poor, and TWA took too long to pay vendors because of poor communication and accounting processes. Cash flow was managed based on immediate needs rather than by the logic of budgets planned by project and city. Sloppy expense reports that were turned in with no receipts were reimbursed to employees.

TWA founders Scott W ____ and Glenn L ____ had good intentions, but spent most of their time selling sponsorships and getting new clients rather than directing and managing the company. As we begin 20XX, TWA is much healthier in every way. Under my direction, vendors are paid in an average of 20 days from date of invoice, instead of 60 days or more. Our cash flow is better administered since I introduced very specific detailed area budgets with over 125 budget lines per city. Because I can give the company founders much better stability and macromanagement vision, the three of us are able to look more to the future rather than simply put out fires.

Despite the difficult economy in 20XX, we not only retained our same clients but also signed several new client agreements for three years or more, including a two-year contract with Big Shoe Company worth $1.3 million. I’ve brought fresh accounts and industries into TWA, including ____ Airlines and Drink Y, among others. Combined, these accounts generated more than $500,000 in 20XX, and we estimate close to $1 million dollars in the following year.

Since my arrival, we have a much wider and broader sales menu which has been crucial to generate more revenue. I’ve expanded our most popular sports events to 25 cities, giving our clients new investment opportunities. These events range from recreational soccer clinic tours to professional soccer games broadcast on TV.

I also expanded our field staff, and at present we have 25 strong and reliable managers who report directly to me from each city. Despite the economy, 20XX was not a bad year for TWA, and this year promises to be even better if we continue our current strategy and continue to work as a team.

Leadership essay analysis

In every paragraph, this writer mentions concrete measures he took to introduce order to a chaotic company that was trying to grow. From instituting budgets with line items, an improved accounts payable system, and recruiting additional big-name accounts, the writer proves how his efforts strengthened the organization.

How can you maximize on your thought leadership experiences?

As you choose among your own experiences as essay material, think about these questions to help you frame answers of substance:

• What was the obstacle, challenge, or problem that you solved in this accomplishment? A tight client deadline? A complex merger transaction? A new product launch amidst fierce competition?
• What did you do to rise to the challenge you are writing about? Motivate your team to work overtime? Sell senior management on the deal’s long-term upside? Identify a marketing profile for your product that no competitor can match?
• What facts demonstrate that your intervention created a happy ending? Did your team submit the project deliverables three days early despite being 20% understaffed? Your client approved the $500 million merger, the largest ever in its industry? Your new product has 20% market share after only one year? What was the impact of your leadership?

Don’t forget about your people leadership skills

What we’ve spoken about until this point revolves mostly on skilled problem-solving, or “thought leadership.” But respected businesspeople need to be equally or even more talented at something we didn’t have a formal name for: people leadership. By effectively leading the thinking of client firms’ problems as well as motivating them to work long hours to develop solutions to these problems and collaborate with clients on implementing them, these businesspeople prove to have what it takes to be exemplary leaders.

So don’t forget to include strong elements of people leadership in your essays. Here are several to keep in mind:

• Rallying others around a vision. Did you convince your team or group to follow a specific path/solution? How did you do it? Successful clients have talked about handling dissenting opinions diplomatically or presenting their teams’ detailed quantitative evidence for a recommendation. The more you can show that you understood your audience and tailored the content and form of your message to them, the better.
• Harnessing others’ strengths – and expanding them. Did you provide team members tasks they could handle comfortably based on their capabilities, as well as opportunities to broaden their skills? For example, you may have handed your quant jock teammate the most complicated operations analysis as well as responsibility for leading a key client meeting. In this way, you leverage teammates’ strengths while helping them develop new ones.
• Getting through tough times. Did you model for your team enviable cool in pressure-cooker situations, maybe helping them keep the big-picture goal in mind or lightening the mood with humor? Did you reward teammates with praise, pizza, or both for working long into the night? Did you pitch in on others’ responsibilities as deadlines loomed? Helping your team handle stress while managing your own is a cornerstone of strong leadership.

Use your words

Another tip: Look for opportunities to incorporate strong verbs that illustrate your strengths in these areas. Good examples of leadership might incorporate several of the following:

• Establishing a goal or vision
• Obtaining buy-in
• Taking responsibility

The old adage, “Show, don’t tell,” remains a classic bit of wisdom in the writing process. Make that a guiding principle not only in your leadership/achievement essays, but throughout your application.
