EBSCO Open Dissertations

EBSCO Open Dissertations makes electronic theses and dissertations (ETDs) more accessible to researchers worldwide. The free portal is designed to benefit universities and their students and make ETDs more discoverable.

Increasing Discovery & Usage of ETD Research

EBSCO Open Dissertations is a collaboration between EBSCO and BiblioLabs to increase traffic and discoverability of ETD research. You can join the movement and add your theses and dissertations to the database, making them freely available to researchers everywhere while increasing traffic to your institutional repository.

EBSCO Open Dissertations extends the work started in 2014, when EBSCO and the H.W. Wilson Foundation created American Doctoral Dissertations which contained indexing from the H.W. Wilson print publication, Doctoral Dissertations Accepted by American Universities, 1933-1955. In 2015, the H.W. Wilson Foundation agreed to support the expansion of the scope of the American Doctoral Dissertations database to include records for dissertations and theses from 1955 to the present.

How Does EBSCO Open Dissertations Work?

Your ETD metadata is harvested via OAI and integrated into EBSCO’s platform, where pointers send traffic to your IR.

EBSCO integrates this data into their current subscriber environments and makes the data available on the open web via opendissertations.org .

It's crucial because this app is knowledgeable and not consumes a lot of time

yes, it helps me alot in my studies. Thank you!

Great for college writing course.

the easiness of Scribbr

the program is so much easier as I used to use easy bib or do it manually and it was so frustrating with ads and the time consumption. it also was terrible using these past methods to save each citation. yours is amazing. the source database is awesome and cuts down on so much work and the flexibility to add it to google docs has been great.

Quick and easy

Helpful for college instructors

I am an adjunct professor who gets paid a pretty meager salary. I love the free version of this program to organize my references. I recommend that my students use it, too.

I love this cite

I love this cite. I am able to organize my references for the many graduate-level courses I have been in and are currently taking. Scribbr has literally helped me get through my doctoral program.

I love Scibbr!

It's such an excellent source for creating references. Scibbr is a lifesaver!

Has made school so much easier!

Scribbr has helped me through all my college courses

Scribbr has helped me through all my classes, even if I couldn't find the cite through the search, it helps you create the cite if you have all the information.

wonderful and easy to use app.

This app is a lifesaver

This app is a lifesaver. I set up my classes by assignment, and with the web extension, I can add a resource directly from the page without leaving it, copy the citation, and keep it moving. I used it for all of my undergrad classes and now for my masters. Indispensable!

Extremely helpful

Scribbr made it easy for me

Scribbr made citing and referencing during my entire M.Sc post-graduate year easy. It helped me to focus on writing my Dissertation and assessment while it handle to citation details. It also offers other rich educational services.

Ease of use and excellent citation…

Ease of use and excellent citation support

It works exceptionally well

It works exceptionally well, some references that are not open to the public, you sometimes have to manually cite. But as research should be public as students don't have 40€ to pay for a research paper, I find it acceptable as I would not want to us those papers anyway for everything else it works great.

Simplistic and Efficient

Very helpful in creating citations while also creating the in paragraph citations, saves so much time very simple and easy to use. Even when it cannot cite it aids in helping me create my own citations.

How can we make PhD training fit for the modern world? Broaden its philosophical foundations

  • Ganesh Alagarasan 0

Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Tirupati, India.

You can also search for this author in PubMed   Google Scholar

You have highlighted how PhD training assessment has stagnated, despite evolving educational methodologies (see Nature 613 , 414 (2023) and Nature 627 , 244; 2024 ). In particular, you note the mismatch between the current PhD journey and the multifaceted demands of modern research and societal challenges.
