Badminton is an indoor game played across the net with a shuttlecock and a racket. It is considered one of the most popular racket sports among amateurs as well as professionals and serves to be a great recreational activity. The most commonly played patterns are singles which only require one player on each side of the net and doubles consists of four players with two on each side. So, this essay on my favorite game badminton is an insight into the history, rules, and regulations of the game and its gaining popularity.

Short Essay on My Favorite Game Badminton

Games including shuttlecock were played in Europe and Asia in countries like China, Greece, and India for centuries but the rise of modern game badminton in the mid 19th century. And, its name is also taken from the country's residence for the dukes of Beaufort in England where the first match was played in the year 1873. It is played in a rectangular court which is divided into halves by a net and the size of the court differs for singles and doubles. The tournaments are of five types, Men’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women Singles, Women Doubles, and Mixed Doubles. The court is wider for the doubles tournament and a single line is marked at the center dividing the width of the court.

This racket sport does not use a ball unlike others like tennis and squash, a lightweight shuttlecock is used which is easily affected by the wind and therefore played as an indoor sport. All the equipment required for the sport like rackets, strings, grip, shuttlecock, and shoes must be BWF approved. BWF is short for Badminton World Federation which is the governing body that was established in 1934 and the first championship was held in the year 1977. And the BWF Championships is the most prestigious tournament. This game also helps in leading an active life by increasing stamina and strength.

Long Essay on My Favorite Sport Badminton

Badminton in India is the most popular sport after cricket and is casually played outside but matches take place indoors. The governing body of Badminton is Badminton World Federation which famously also goes by BWF. It monitors the court, nets and is also responsible for approving all other equipment used to play the sport. All matches are played under the supervision of this body and the championships organized include the Thomas Cup for Men and Uber Cup for Women which is held every two years and more than 50 national teams compete to qualify for the tournament. One of the popular leagues in the Premier Badminton League of India featuring the world's best players.

Badminton among all racket sports is very demanding and is the fastest racket sport in the world.

Rules and Regulations of My Favorite Game Badminton Essay

The rectangular court for a singles match is 13.4 meters long and reduced to  5.2 meters wide, and the net which is 1.5 meters in height is stretched at the center throughout the court, whereas the court for doubles is the full width of 6.1 meters.

The game commences with a coin toss and the team who wins the toss has a choice to pick a side to play and whether they will first serve or receive.

It is always to be observed that the service is from below the waist, diagonally and at no point the shuttlecock can be carried or come to rest on the racket during the game.

The player should not reach over and touch the net with racket or body to hit, nor should he touch any of the lines drawn in the court during the serve.

In a singles match, the server stands on the right service court corner when the score is even and the server moves to the left corner when the score is odd.

The scores are given on the basis of the best 2 of 3 games, with each game played up to 21 points. And when both teams tie at 29 points, then the game continues till one team achieves a two-point advantage.

A point is given each time a player wins a rally, or strikes by the shuttlecock and it touches the floor of the opponent’s side. The player also scores when the opponent commits any fault by not abiding by the aforementioned rules.

Badminton as an Olympic Sport

After the year 1934 when the Badminton World Federation held the first match, it was not until 1972 that Badminton was introduced as a demonstration sport. Due to its gaining popularity, in 1992 the game was introduced in the medal category and the medal category included both singles and doubles for men and women. The mixed doubles category was introduced into the Olympics four years later i.e in 1996.

As I got better, I started competing in local tournaments and eventually made it to the state level. But my ultimate goal was always to meet my idol, Saina Nehwal.

One day, I got the chance to meet her in a unique way. I had been selected to participate in a training camp for up-and-coming badminton players. The camp was held in Hyderabad, Saina's hometown and I was thrilled to have the opportunity to learn from some of the best coaches in the country.

I arrived at the camp and was greeted by a sea of familiar faces, all of us united by our love for badminton. We spent the first few days training hard, working on our footwork, shots, and strategies. But the highlight of the camp was when Saina Nehwal walked into the training hall.

I couldn't believe my eyes, my idol was standing right in front of me. She greeted us with a warm smile and began to demonstrate her techniques and strategies. I was in awe as she effortlessly executed her shots and moved around the court with grace and precision.

My Favorite Sport Badminton Essay

Badminton is my favorite activity because playing it helps me stay active throughout the day. Playing it requires speed, strength, and precision. To become a good player, he or she needs to practice frequently.

People Playing Badminton

When I play it with my friends, I feel energetic throughout the day. Playing it feeds my body with the much-needed energy to help me go through each day. It is an interesting game because every time I play, there is some anxiety mixed with excitement in the end. At the end of the game, there has to be a winner, and this makes the battle more exciting.

When and Why I Started Playing My Favorite Game Badminton

I started playing badminton when I was only 9 years old. It was my uncle, a professional player, who first got me interested in the game. I joined in on his practice sessions whenever I was free. I learned most of my skills by observing my uncle play in most professional tournaments where he usually emerges as the winner. I also developed an interest in playing it because after playing I feel relaxed and destressed.

When I feel low, I prefer playing it instead of just going shopping or playing computer games. The game often reminds me of how my father taught me some simple techniques for defending myself from bullies by hitting them with the ball. It was one of the first lessons my father taught me on how to defend myself instead of relying on my big brother in school.

How to Play Badminton

Playing it is easy. With two rackets and a shuttlecock, you can get a game going. The shuttlecock, which is essentially the “ball” in badminton, is made from goose feathers and attached to a small piece of cork. The rackets for playing are light, weighing about 90 grams.

When playing, you need to smash the shuttlecock in the opponent’s direction. Players need a lot of energy to ensure that the shuttlecock crosses over the net in the opposite direction. Shot-wise, there are six main types of shots: the serve, the clear, the drop, the smash, the backhand drive, and the forehand drive.

A Woman Playing Badminton

Badminton is played on a rectangular court. Like tennis. the court is halved with a net; the only difference is that the net is raised higher and the ball is lighter. The game was derived from the house of Duke of Beaufort, in England, where the first game of badminton was played.

The best part about playing badminton is that it gives me a reason to gather my friends and family and spend time with them. My friends and I have played in several competitions, but I have never reached the finals until recently – I was the finalist in the Austrian badminton open tournament for teenagers. In the end, I was the second runner-up.

The most interesting thing about badminton is that the more you play, the more you feel challenged by your opponent. Getting involved in the game frequently makes you want to perfect your skills and become a great player.

Playing it is more fun, engaging, and fulfilling than spending time immersed in computer games. Having played this game for a long time, my body is in great shape, and I have made many friends along the way. To me, it is more than a sport that keeps me active. It is a great way for me to unwind, destress, and meet new people.

Have you ever tried playing badminton? If not, it is a great time to start. Find someone who plays and get coached on the basics of the sport. I guarantee that all the stress you’ve experienced on that day will melt away. Once you have mastered the basics, try getting involved in a singles match and see how well you fare. Competition has a way of bringing out your need for excellence and drive to succeed.

Even if you’re not sure if you’ll like it, give it a try. You never know if it will eventually become your favorite activity or if you’ll end up joyfully winning your first championship in a few years’ time.

Short Essay On My Favorite Game Badminton

For many people it’s basketball, and for some, it’s volleyball. But to me, badminton is the sport that makes me feel happy, energized, inspired, and fulfilled. I never really thought that I would end up playing competitively and be so attached to the game, but it has now become a regular and important part of my life. I can no longer imagine my weekends without it.

An indoor game played with two rackets and a light shuttlecock, badminton is quite heavy on running and arm work. The shuttlecock flies on a different trajectory than other sports “balls,” so you would really need a lot of practice to get used to its impact on your racket. It is also an Olympic sport. I love watching the matches with my other friends during Olympics season.

More than a way to maintain a good weight and stay active, badminton has become a way for me to destress after long days. It has also helped me find people who share the same love for the sport. I play singles matches or mixed doubles with my friends every weekend, and we always make it a point to bring in someone who is new to the sport.

At the end of the day, badminton is a vital part of my life that I hope to keep in the years to come. No matter how busy I get, I know that this passion of mine will sustain me through the darker days.

How To Explain Why Badminton Is My Favorite Game?

To explain why it is near and dear to your heart, you have to go beyond explaining the basics of the game, its history, and the most popular techniques. You have to get personal as you write your essay. Think about how far back your love for the game goes. What started it? Who inspired you? Was there a particular moment in your life when you decided that you finally couldn’t live without it? What kind of joy or thrill do you get out of it? Identify all the ways in which the sport has added value to your life and write convincingly, with the goal of encouraging the reader to give it a try. Your goal at the end of the day is to deepen appreciation of it, especially if they are not as well-versed in the game.

Why Is Badminton An Indoor Sport?

Many people are probably wondering why badminton isn’t an outdoor sport. If you’ve ever tried playing it outdoors, you will notice that there is an increased difficulty in getting the game going due to many weather factors. Most commonly, the wind changes the trajectory of the light shuttlecock, which affects its course no matter how well you hit or aim at it. Even a light wind or gentle breeze can completely affect the direction and pace of your shuttlecock. Many times they will end up getting caught in the air and dropping down completely mid-way.

I believe badminton is the most beautiful sport, and every time I play, there is some excitement and anxiety in the end. In the final round, there has to be a winner that makes the battle even more exciting.

Why Badminton is My Favourite Game?

I started playing badminton game when I was only ten years because of various reasons. My father was a professional player, and he kept encouraging me to join in during the practice sessions.

He influenced my attitude towards playing badminton sport, and from then, I learned most of the skills by observing him in many professional tournaments where he usually emerges as the winner. I also developed an interest in this game because after playing, it makes me feel relaxed, getting rid of all the stress.

I prefer playing badminton instead of just playing computer games or going shopping. Playing this game reminds me of how my father taught me some simple techniques to defend myself from bullying guys that temper me.

I hit them with the ball. It was one of the first lessons that my father taught me to defend myself instead of relying on my elder brother in school.

How to Play Badminton Game?

Playing badminton is easy, and all you must require is a shuttlecock and two rackets. The shuttlecock acts like a ball and is made from a goose feather attached to a small piece of cork.

The rackets for playing are lightweight, around 90 to 100 grams. While playing, you must smash the light shuttlecock towards the opponent’s direction. In badminton, players require a lot of energy to make sure that the shuttlecock crosses the next towards the opposite direction.

These types of shuttle are still used nowadays. But the shuttles are made from synthetic materials allowed by BWF, which is a short name for Badminton World Federation. So, this essay is an insight into my favourite game, and the rules and regulations followed worldwide.

While playing, there are six major shorts, and these are the forehand drive, the backhand drive, the smash, the drop, the clearing, and the serve. Badminton is played over a rectangular court that has a division in the middle using a net.

Badminton is like tennis; the only difference is that the net is raised higher, and the ball is lighter. The name “badminton” was derived from the house of Duke of Beaufort, in England, and there the first game was being played.

Badminton is a sport for 2 or 4 people. The game is played by either player against one player or a team of two players against another team of two players. The players use rackets to hit a shuttle over a net.

Badminton aims to hit the shuttlecock over the net in a way that the other player or pairs cannot hit is back properly prior to it hits the floor. Every time this is done, the player receives one point.

He also gets to serve, and the first player or pair to reach 21 points wins a game. Here, the winner of the match is the first to win two sets.

Further, recreational badminton is played outside and is a famous outdoor activity. The court of badminton is rectangular 13.4 m long and 5.2 m wide for the singles match. Further, the net is 1.5 m high and stretches throughout the width of the court at the centre.

Why Do I Love Badminton? (11 Reasons Why You Should Too)

When I tell people that I play badminton and love it, they often get enticed and ask me why? Why do you love badminton so much? Well, in this article, I’m going to tell you exactly why and why you should too.

I love badminton because it’s an indoor sport so you can play it regardless of the weather. Also, the entry-level is low, so you can bring friends that have never played it, and you will get a fun time from it. Socializing with friends is great in badminton. Also, it’s a good workout and cheap!

These are the main reasons why I love badminton but certainly not all. Even tho there are various pros and cons about badminton , I have listed my top 11 reasons why I like badminton and that you could too. Without further due, here are they!

1. It’s An Indoor Sport

2. the entry level is low, 3. the basics are easy to learn, 4. it’s cheap, 5. it’s easy to get people with you, 6. social networking goes hand in hand with badminton, 7. badminton is terapeutic, 8. individual games are the best, 9. it’s not about the brute force, 10. it’s a good workout, 11. badminton is really fun, my favorite badminton equipment.

One of the best things about badminton is the fact that it’s an indoor sport . This means that if it’s burning hot outside or perhaps a blizzard of some sort, you can still go and play badminton. Badminton is not at the mercy of the weather .

Tennis, for example, is played nearly always outdoors. This makes you wonder whether you should play tennis when it’s raining etc., and in most cases, the answer is definitely no.

Another factor why badminton is an indoor sport is the shuttlecock. You can play badminton outdoors with a nylon shuttlecock that is weatherproof, but it’s more pleasant to play indoors, and a feather shuttlecock will obey your skills much better. Given that a shuttlecock is very lightweight, it’s just better to play indoors.

If you’re a fan of indoor badminton but don’t like broken shuttlecocks, I highly recommend the Yonex Mavis 350 shuttlecocks as they are high-quality shuttlecocks with medium speed.

Badminton is a very easy sport to start, and that’s one of the main reasons why I love badminton. Badminton doesn’t have an age limit, and people that can stand and hold a racket can play it.

Also, every school gymnasium, multi-sport hall, or backyard will be great for badminton. Therefore, finding a place to play isn’t ever hard. Naturally, there aren’t any borderlines on a meadow or park, but you can play recreational badminton when you use a portable badminton net which I use constantly.

When it comes to the required gear, you only need a racket, shuttlecock, court, and a net to play, so acquiring these items isn’t hard at all. For example, you can get everything from Amazon for less than $50, and courts are found all over the place in most countries.

The basic skills needed for badminton are very easy to learn to a beginner level where you are able to hold a rally for some time which will make badminton really fun. I have an extensive article about the required badminton skills you need to dominate at the court that I highly encourage you to read.

Anyways, the most important things about badminton are the footwork and basic strokes . When you know the basics of footwork and how to move quickly at the court and know how to strike with your forehand and backhand properly, you can play badminton quite well.

This is why I love badminton because it doesen’t take much practice and learning to make it fun, whereas in sports like ice hockey you really need to be skilled in order to have a good session.

This is important because even when you are skilled, you need a partner to play with, so you don’t need to play together for months or years before holding up good rallies and having fun. Again, in ice hockey, you need to be skilled, but so must the other 11 people on the ice in order to make the game great.

Many sports, including football, ice hockey, cricket, and baseball, require expensive gear that costs hundreds of dollars minimum before you can start playing. I love badminton because you don’t need to spend even $50 on a racket and shuttlecock before you can start badminton.

Generally, a good racket for beginners costs between $30 to $80, and a set of shuttlecocks is often between $10 and $20, depending on whether you choose feather or nylon . Court time in badminton is often close to $10/hour, and you can spit that with the people you play with, so it’s more like $2.5-$5.

The moment you start taking badminton a bit more seriously, I recommend getting good badminton shoes with lateral support and shock absorption. These often cost between $50 to $150. The great thing is that you can wear other sports shoes for badminton if they are the right kind ones.

Nearly everyone has played badminton at some point in their life. Most of us are familiar with it from school gym class, others from playing it with family on a picnic or starting it as a hobby. Be that as it may, more people have played badminton than many other sports, so it’s easy to get people to come with you.

It also helps that badminton is super cheap, easy to start skill-wise, and you don’t need a ton of equipment for it. In fact, you can rent equipment from most badminton courts, so you literally need some sort of shoes, joggers, a t-shirt, and a small bill to start.

Another thing why it’s easy to get people with you to play badminton is because you don’t need to take it seriously all the time. When I’m with a friend playing badminton, we have great talks during and between the sets, so it’s not only about badminton. It’s also socializing and having a great hang out with friends, spouse, or family.

In my opinion, badminton truly is therapeutic. I remember when I had a crisis in my life and wanted to get it off my head, badminton was one of the only things to get me thinking other things, and I felt less anxious after it.

A personal crisis certainly isn’t needed to feel therapeutic during and after badminton, but it was an example that it could be mentally helpful. If you ever feel that you would benefit from a therapeutic feeling, I highly recommend badminton because it gets your mind off things, and your body will thank you from the workout. This makes you feel even better!

There are many pros and cons regarding sports whether they are a team or individual sports. I have had various sports as a hobby such as football, ice hockey, table tennis, badminton, boxing, tennis, and some others on a smaller scale, and I must say that individual sports are the best!

In individual sports, you are responsible by yourself for successes and losses, which is great in my opinion, because this way no one will come your way and only you can make a difference. Individual sports will also increase your self-esteem, patience, dedication, controlling emotions, and you will also learn to lose graciously.

In many sports, the more athletic and powerful opponent will nearly always win. Even though power and athleticism help in badminton, it certainly isn’t the main determining skill set.

Badminton is a sport of many skills that involve technic, strategies, tactics, perception, and anticipation. That’s why you won’t have much success with only having power and strength on your side.

For example, you need to perceive and analyze your opponent, and all the little do tell about his strengths and weaknesses that could give you the upper hand. Also, anticipation is a big part of the sport, which could award you many points. Then, of course, you need to have good timing and rhythm, which requires hand-eye coordination , and the list goes on.

In badminton, you need more technical skills than athletism.

Another thing that makes me love badminton is that it’s a good workout. Badminton works your whole body, especially legs, calves, glutes and quads, core, back, and arms. Badminton also makes your blood flow which is beneficial for your cardiovascular system and lungs.

Suppose you feel that badminton, as its own, isn’t enough physical exercise for you. In that case, you can always spice things up and make badminton one level more demanding by adding things such as ankle weights , incorporating new drills, or increasing intensity.

The number one thing why I love badminton is because it is fun! When I hold the racket, strike that shuttlecock, and see my friend on the other side of the net, I feel free and joyful where all the troubles of everyday life fade to the background.

If you don’t play badminton or have poor memories of it, I highly encourage you to try again with new knowledge and instructions. Feel free to check out my site and learn more about badminton, and maybe you will get as good of a drive for the sport as I do!

Thanks for reading this article. I hope it brought you great value that you can implement into your own life! Below you can find some badminton equipment that I love and think you could like!

  • Racket:  My favorite badminton racket is the Yanox Carbonex 8000 because it fits well with my controlling playstyle. This racket is made from graphite & aluminum and weighs around 85 to 90grams, so it’s medium weight and durable. I love the control and accuracy of this racket, and the design makes me want to play badminton.
  • Shuttlecocks:  I like to play with yellow nylon shuttlecocks because most courts I play badminton on have a light environment, and I’m not playing at a competitive level. So, I don’t want to spend insane much money on feathers shuttlecocks because they often break. That’s why Yonex Mavis 350 shuttlecocks are my absolute favorite.
  • Badminton shoes : When it comes to badminton shoes, they need to have excellent support, shock absorption, and cushioning. As you can see, I’m a Yonex lover, and that’s why I play badminton with Yonex Power Cushion Eclipsion Z badminton shoes!
  • Fan Equipment : If you’re a fan more than a player, you don’t want to miss Fan Equipment by Fanatics . You can find items from various sports that bear your favorite team’s logo, such as jerseys, gift ideas, or other surprising things.

“Speed and stamina are required to play badminton as the person playing [has] to keep moving throughout the game at different sides of the court. So, the person playing has to keep himself physically healthy to shine in the game.”

This essay describes badminton, its rules, how it’s played, and how one can win a badminton game. It also covers a brief history of the sport, the field or court, and gear, like the net, shuttlecock, and racket.

“Though Badminton isn’t a contact sport, injuries are more common than you’d think.  [There are] a lot of joint impacts, fast-paced footwork, shoulder rotation, and stretching to make contact with that hard-to-reach shot. This level of activity can often result in minor injuries.”

No sport is safe from injuries, even badminton. Justin Ma’s written piece describes the most common injuries badminton players get. As he discussed each injury, he also included some tips on identifying, reducing, and treating the injury.

Badminton is an exceptional outdoor game because it really vitalizes our spirits and can also be a form of good exercise.

I like playing badminton because it is a pair game. There are two rackets and a shuttlecock involved in the game. The two opponents in the game need to toss the shuttlecock with the rackets. There may or may not be a net in between the two opponents.

Essay on Badminton I Like the Most

The outdoor game is not only a good exercise, but it also builds up a strong social connection. People mostly play badminton while they are on a family picnic or on a visit to a farmhouse which adds up to the fun of the family vacation.

It is mostly played in schools, colleges and many national and international badminton competitions are held. It is not only counted as an outdoor sports games but it can also be turned into a well sought out profession.

Many memories are built while playing badminton and I have created many memories through badminton because it was taught by my father. There is an emotional connect with the game because there are so many memories attached to it. I liked playing badminton since childhood and it has been my favourite sports game ever since. I had played a lot of collegiate and inter-collegiate competitions and have won many prizes for badminton. This game has made me grow as a person and has also made me try out other outdoor games.

I was appreciated a lot by my family and teachers because badminton has been a pivotal point in my career and has made me the person I am today. Because of my peers and family, I could make this exceptional sport into a profession which will stay with me forever.

English Essay on “The Game I Like Most” English Essay-Paragraph-Speech for Class 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 CBSE Students and competitive Examination.

The Game I Like Most

I can play a number of games but my favorite game is football. It is a popular game throughout the world. It is also known by the name of soccer. Generally, this game is played between two teams, each comprising of eleven players. In this game, a good stamina, besides agility and strength, is required. In the game of football, there are forwards, half and full backs and a goal-keeper. Like other games, cooperation and team-work is required in this game, as wall. It also requires a lot of regular practice. The half-backs are for defense as well as helping the forwards. The role of a goal keeper is most important and crucial. Football is a very tough game as it requires a lot of running and jumping. There is a referee to conduct the match. His decision is final. The quality of this game is that it keeps a person physically fit and mentally alert. It is a game full of excitement, thrill and entertainment. This is the reason I like the game of football most.

Essay on “The Game I like best” Complete Essay for Class 10, Class 12 and Graduation and other classes.

The Game I like best

Of all the games, I like volley ball the most. I have played it from my very childhood and now I have a love for it. Pt. Kishore Chand is in charge of our volley ball team and he likes my play very much. He has made me the captain of the team. So I ask other hockey players also to join my team. I have good reason for it.

The game of volley ball does not cost much. A sixty feet long and thirty feet broad play ground is sufficient for this game. A net is stretched out onto wooden poles in the middle. The poles are firmly fixed in the ground, lest they should fall down with a slight movement and loosen the net. The volley ball which we use contains a rubber bladder. The air is pumped into the bladder and when it is inflated, we faster its top with a leather string.

Only twelve players take part in this game. Six players play on each side. They go on changing places from time to time so that everyone should get a chance to exercise his limbs completely. It is true that only hands are used in this game but when one jumps, all other limbs and muscles are also brought into play.

When the ball does not drop in a few turns, everyone tries one’s utmost to keep up the ball as long as possible in air. It creates a sort of keen competition among the players. They eyes follow the ball and their hands are ready to strike it back. If the ball remains for some time in the air, it sends thrills of joy into our hearts. I wonder if excitement and laughter of this kind could be enjoyed in other games also.

Again hockey and foot ball players always complain of ankle sprains, dizziness, nasty falls and injuries. These are so dangerous games that they even break some bone or injure an eye. It is just for these reasons that I have selected the game of volley ball. I am not afraid of injuries, but if we can avoid of the volley ball eleven?

The Game I like Best

Cricket is my favourite game. It is the game I like the most. It is an international game and is quite often shown on television. Many cricket teams come from abroad to play matches in India and the Indian  teams go abroad to play against foreign countries.

The most important nations playing cricket are England. Australia, West Indies, India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan. When I grow up, I also hope a become a great cricketer and represent  India against foreign cricketers at home and abroad. That is the greatest ambition of my life.

I am never good at books but I am very good at cricket. My teachers often take me to task for not devoting myself to studies and my parents are angry for not burning the midnight oil for doing well in the examinations but it is none of my ambition to become a book- worm. My only ambition in life is to become a great cricketer. Once I become a star cricketer, I am sure that my parents and my teachers will be proud of my success in the world of cricket. I want to shine as a star in the firmament of the sporting world. I want my name to be written in golden letters in history books of cricket and the great cricketers. I want to die as Bradman, the great English Cricketer.

My greatest pleasure is to keep away from the classes and spend the days , from dawn to dusk, on the cricket field. Cricket is whole day  game and you can spend many hours in playing cricket. It lasts longer than a film show. When great Test Matches are held at important cities of India, Like Delhi, Bombay, Calcutta and Madras, people buy  their tickets in advance and carry their lunch boxes with them. I wish I were one of the Test Cricket Players watched by the thousands of people on the playground and millions of people on television around the world. One  day I am sure that I will achieve that eminence.

In other sports on e can be either a spectator or an actor. In cricket one can be both at the same time. When others are batting, you watch.

When your turn comes, you become the actor on whom the thousands of eyes are directed. He is then the idol of the admiring crowds. In this manner one can see cricket in two ways as actor and spectator. He can see the crowds from the player’s point of view as well as from the spectator’s angle of vision.

In other games the whole team goes into action in team spirit and it is the team spirit which makes the victory possible. In cricket both team sprite an individual performance  are counted. One may hit a brilliant century even when the cricket team fails to win the match as a whole, in cricket the game moves on slowly and one can watch the bowlers and batsmen in action and out of action. Their every move is recorded on the retains of millions of eyes.

Cricket is very popular and very fashionable game in India. You find urchins playing cricket in the street corners and in offside plains, parks, gardens and meadows. Cricket is the talk of the town in clubs and restaurants, both friends and foes. Men like Sunil Gavakar and Bradman are immortal stars of the Cricket heavens and their glory will never fade from the earth. They will always shine like planets in the midnight sky.
