Eligibility Criteria

• For PhD eng. program-  The applicants must have scored minimum 60% or 6.5 CGPA in M.Tech/M.E. or equivalent degree in appropriate discipline with a valid GATE score in admission year of M.Tech. OR
• Those applicants can also apply who have qualified B.Tech/B.E or equivalent degree in appropriate discipline scoring 70% or 7.5 CGPA with a valid GATE score card or a degree in UGC/CSIR-NET JRF.
• The applicants must have scored minimum 60% or 6.5 CGPA in all other examinations. A single relaxation up to 10% marks either at 10 th or 12 th standard examination or equivalent will be allowed.
• For PhD Basic Science program-  The applicants must have scored minimum 60% or 6.5 CGPA in Master’s degree or equivalent degree in appropriate discipline with good academic records. Provisional certificates will be acceptable. OR
• The applicants must have scored minimum 55% or 6.0 CGPA in B.Sc or equivalent degree in appropriate discipline with good academic records. Provisional certificates will be acceptable.
• The applicants should have a valid GATE score card or have a UGC/CSIR-NET JRF.

• Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of the academic performances.
• Shortlisted candidates have to appear for Written Test, Research aptitude test and Personal Interview to be conducted by IIIT Bhubaneswar.
• The Final Selection will be done based on academic performance, performance in the Written Test, research aptitude and the Personal Interview taken together.

Fellowship and Financial Assistance

• The Institute has a limited number of assistantships for Odisha Domicile students which are offered to Full-Time scholars for 4 years During the first two years they will be offered a stipend of Rs. 31,000/- per month. In the next two years they will be offered a stipend of Rs. 35,000/- per month.
• In case of candidates awarded UGC/CSIR or any other fellowship, the rules shall be governed by the sponsoring agency.

Applying for PhD through Climate Sciences

• Master’s degree in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Oceanography, Meteorology, Marine Sciences, Atmosphere and Ocean Sciences, Earth Sciences, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Geo-informatics, Remote Sensing, Computer Science, or equivalent combination of these fields.
• Bachelor of Technical/Bachelor of Engineering with a 70% or 7.5 CGPA.
• An undergraduate degree of at least 55% in a relevant field is required.
• In all other examinations, the student must obtain a minimum 60% mark. There will be a 10% relaxation for the 10th and 12th grades.

Applying for PhD through Humanities and Social Sciences

• Students who have already completed their Master must score at least 55% or a CGPA of 6.0.
• Qualifications for UGC-NET must be present.

Integrated Admissions to the program of PhD at IIT Bhubaneshwar

• The IIT Bhubaneswar offers a five-year, five-specialization M.Sc and PhD program, namely, Chemistry, Ocean Sciences, Mathematics, Physics, and Geology. Through the JAM entrance examination, students are admitted to the program. Once the student completes the fourth semester successfully, they will be eligible for direct admission to the PhD program. They keep a certain minimum grade point average set by the institute.

• In addition to uploading their photographs, signatures, and other documents, candidates can log in and complete their examination forms.
• Apply for an application online and pay with an electronic payment method. Application fees for female students (all categories), SC/ST/PWD students are INR 750 (one test paper) and INR 1050 (two test papers). In the case of other students, the application fee is INR 1500 (for one test paper) and INR 2100 (for two test papers).
