Free Year 5 Maths Worksheets And Homework – Download, Print, Or View Online

Anantha anilkumar.

Here you’ll find all our Year 5 maths worksheets, and Year 5 maths tests that are suitable for use during classroom lessons and as homework.

  • What to expect from our Year 5 Maths worksheets

These KS2 maths worksheets cover every part of the Year 5 primary maths curriculum, to help your children practise and gain confidence in their understanding ahead of Year 6 and the KS2 SATs . Their focus is on retrieval practice – going over topics that children should already have covered and helping them strengthen their knowledge and understanding.

Most of our worksheets come in pdf format, and all of them are printable. But if you’re running out of printer ink, they can be viewed online too.

Every Year 5 maths test or worksheet comes with its own answer sheet, and guidance from the National Curriculum is included wherever it might be needed (for example, if there might be more than one correct answer for a question). Some worksheets also include model answers to help children break down the best way to solve a problem.

Note: The National Curriculum does not specify any place value teaching for Year 5. However this is often a good time to begin revising the topic (among others) in preparation for the KS2 SATs. Have a look at these place value worksheets as part of your revision.

Similarly, addition and subtraction work is largely an extension of what was covered in previous years. Take a look at our collection of addition and subtraction worksheets for practice materials for these topics.

Year 5 Maths Test: All topics

As a child gets closer to Year 6 and the Key Stage 2 SATs, it’s important they get used to the timings and styles of questions they might face. Our Year 5 maths tests includes two assessments – one arithmetic paper and one reasoning paper – with SATS style questions created by our curriculum experts, answers and a mark scheme with detailed explanations of how to solve each question.

Both papers should take about one hour to complete, and cover every part of the curriculum, from place value to geometry and 3d shapes. This makes them useful for checking children’s overall understanding of the maths they’ve learned in Year 5, as well as providing them with exam practice.

Year 5 Maths Test: Times Tables

While Year 5 children are past the newly introduced multiplication tables check, knowing your times tables is a key part of many other maths topics they will learn. So it’s always worth keeping up with practice, and these quick worksheets help a child see exactly which ones they know by heart, and which they struggle with.

homework tasks year 5

Let’s teach! Primary (LTP) is a curriculum-aligned digital teaching tool that provides learning content for Years 1 to 6. All content is written to the Australian Curriculum and mapped to both the Victorian and Western Australian Curriculums, as well as the NSW syllabus.

Each learning area is organised into four separate units, with each unit containing lessons and worksheets that are intended to be taught over a term. This structure provides teachers with a flexible program that can be followed prescriptively or adapted.

Lesson plans are included for every Year 5 lesson and work to support teachers in their preparation and delivery of curriculum-aligned learning content. Teaching strategies are suggested at the start of each lesson plan, and differentiation points are provided to allow for easy adaptation to meet classroom needs.

Each lesson uses interactive page sliders which allows teachers to deliver the most engaging content possible, helping students make deeper connections with the learning outcomes while they explore the integrated links, videos, maps and more.

To ensure the completion of the entire teaching process, Let’s teach! Primary provides downloadable worksheets that students can use to consolidate their learning and deepen their understanding with real-world context.

To recap, all you have to do is:

  • choose your learning area
  • follow the step-by-step lesson plan
  • present the student pages and share the worksheets

Let’s teach! Primary  provides full curriculum coverage of every included learning area, with our online presence allowing the platform to be an ever-evolving mapping tool.

Record dengue surge in Latin America spurs a warning for preventative measures

A health worker fumigates for mosquitoes inside a home

A record surge in dengue cases throughout Latin America and the Caribbean prompted the head of the Pan American Health Organization to warn of the need for proactive measures to curb the virus that is transmitted by mosquitoes.

PAHO Director Dr. Jarbas Barbosa said in a press briefing Thursday that as of March 26, the region had seen more than 3.5 million cases of dengue and more than 1,000 deaths.

"This is cause for concern, as it represents three times more cases than those reported for the same period in 2023, a record year with more than 4.5 million cases reported in the region,” he said.

As of March, the hardest-hit countries in Latin America are Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina — which have accounted for 92% of the dengue cases and 87% of the deaths — where mosquitoes have thrived because of the warm and rainy weather this time of year.

A man sits while waiting to be attended at a hospital.

Barbosa said, however, that they're seeing an uptick in Barbados, Costa Rica, Guadeloupe, Guatemala, Martinique and Mexico, "where transmission is usually higher in the second half of the year.”

U.S. embassies have been issuing health alerts in countries throughout the region, urging people to cover their arms and legs, use mosquito repellent and avoid stagnant water and other mosquito-breeding places.

The U.S. territory of Puerto Rico declared a dengue public health emergency this week, with a surge in cases mostly in the island's capital, San Juan.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, “dengue viruses are spread to people through the bite of an infected Aedes   species” mosquito, with symptoms that can range from mild to life-threatening for those who get sick from the infection. About 1 in 20 people can get severe dengue, which can lead to death.

The most common symptom is fever, according to the CDC; other symptoms include serious headaches, nausea, vomiting, rash and body pain.

“Facing the dengue problem is a task for all sectors of society,” Barbosa said, urging community engagement.

This includes “efforts to eliminate mosquito breeding sites and protect against mosquito bites, increase preparedness in health services for early diagnosis and timely clinical management, and continuous work to educate the population about dengue symptoms and when to seek prompt medical attention,” according to a PAHO news release.

Video: Gunman fires at crowd outside Detroit blues club after parking dispute

5 people injured, expected to be ok.

Cassidy Johncox , Senior News Editor

DETROIT – Five people where shot early Friday when a gunman opened fire on a crowd outside a Detroit bar following a dispute over a parking space.

An argument over a parking spot outside of Chicago Blu’z Bar & Grill in Detroit turned physical, and then violent early Friday, March 29. Detroit police say at around 2:45 a.m., a man involved in the dispute left, came back with a gun, and fired on the crowd outside the blues club.

Five people were injured and rushed to two nearby hospitals. Each of them were in stable condition and expected to survive, Assistant Detroit police Chief Charles Fitzgerald told reporters early Friday.

Only one of the five people shot was believed to be involved in the argument over the parking space. The other four were believed to be bystanders, Fitzgerald said.

Investigators found at least 7-8 casings in the parking lot of the club. There were more people standing in the parking lot who weren’t injured.

The shooter -- whose identity was not yet known -- drove off in an SUV that was parked in the middle of the street in front of the bar. Surveillance video shows the man firing into the crowd, running back to the vehicle, and driving off.

You can watch the surveillance footage in the video player up above.

Detroit police were still searching for the shooter as of early Friday afternoon. Fitzgerald said they were looking for a dark SUV, possibly a Hyundai, that was driven by the shooter.

Police were also planning to look into why the blues club was open as late as it was. Fitzgerald told reporters that the owner did not have a permit for extended hours, and that the bar shouldn’t have been open that late.
