Sample Application Letter For Teacher Without Experience

Ms. Marione Rose S. Cruz, MaIS Principal St. Monica’s College

Dear Ma’am;

A day full of peace to you!

I am writing this letter to let you know of my intent to be a part of your established institution. A good friend of mine informed me that you are looking for English teachers for the opening of the school year 2019-2020. Given my credentials, I profoundly believe that I am a potential teacher at your school.

I passed the Licensure Examination for Teachers in September 2017 right after graduating from college in March. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education major in English from La Consolacion College Manila .

In able to continue my professional growth, I just enrolled started to a graduate degree in November 2018 enrolling in the Graduate School of Polytechnic University of the Philippines. My degree of concentration is Master of Arts in Educational Management major in English.

My only experience in teaching was my internship in Jose P. Laurel National High School in Quezon City. I was able to gain more knowledge and was able to broaden my skills in teaching in the said institution. Though I don’t have years of teaching experience yet, I believe that I am ready to take the responsibilities of a teacher because we have been extensively trained during college through the series of lectures and seminars I attended.

I decided to send my application in your school after some colleagues told me that you give a bunch of opportunities to your teachers and that you are very supportive of their professional endeavors by providing professional development workshops and training in and out of the school. I also did a little research about the schools here in Marikina, and your school appears to be the best in most aspects. I believe choosing what is best can bring out the best in people like me who want to improve continuously.

I am hoping that you will give me an opportunity to have my first teaching experience in your reputed school.

Thank you for considering my application. I am waiting for your positive response.

Sample Application Letter For Teacher Without Experience

Application Letter For Teacher Without Experience

In the competitive world of teaching, crafting a compelling application letter is crucial, especially for those without prior experience in the field. With school districts seeking passionate and dedicated educators, showcasing your skills effectively becomes the key to standing out. Let’s dive into a step-by-step guide on creating a sample application letter that highlights your potential, even without prior teaching experience.

Addressing the Lack of Experience

One of the primary challenges faced by new teachers is the lack of classroom experience. However, there are effective strategies to address this concern. Begin by emphasizing your passion for education and a genuine desire to make a positive impact on students’ lives. Highlight any relevant experiences, such as tutoring, mentoring, or assisting in educational programs.

Crafting an Engaging Opening

The opening of your application letter sets the tone for the entire document. Capture the reader’s attention by sharing a personal anecdote, a compelling statistic about education, or a thought-provoking quote. Engaging openings make a lasting impression and encourage the reader to continue with interest.

Emphasizing Education and Training

In the academic background section, structure your education details strategically. Highlight any relevant coursework, certifications, or specialized training that aligns with the teaching position you’re applying for. Showcase your commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Spotlighting Transferable Skills

Even without direct teaching experience, you likely possess transferable skills that are valuable in an educational setting. Identify and showcase these skills, such as communication, adaptability, organization, and teamwork. Connect these skills to specific teaching responsibilities to demonstrate their applicability.

Incorporating Volunteer and Internship Experience

Volunteer work and internships can provide valuable hands-on experience. Discuss any relevant activities, whether they involve working with children in community programs, contributing to educational initiatives, or participating in school-related projects. This demonstrates your proactive approach to gaining experience.

Tailoring the Letter to the School

Research the school thoroughly and incorporate specific details in your application letter. Addressing the unique characteristics of the institution shows your genuine interest and dedication. Personalizing your application makes it memorable and distinguishes you from other candidates.

Utilizing Strong Language and Action Verbs

Powerful language adds impact to your application letter. Use action verbs to convey a sense of dynamism and enthusiasm. Replace passive language with active statements that highlight your achievements and contributions.

Proofreading and Editing

Ensure your application letter is error-free by thoroughly proofreading and seeking feedback. Typos and grammatical errors can detract from your professionalism. Take the time to edit your document, and consider having a trusted friend or colleague review it as well.

Formatting and Length Guidelines

Follow appropriate formatting guidelines for your application letter. Keep it concise and focused, aiming for a length that provides enough information to showcase your qualifications without overwhelming the reader. A well-structured, visually appealing letter is more likely to be read thoroughly.

Encouraging a Positive Closing

End your application letter on a positive note. Express your gratitude for the opportunity to apply and reiterate your enthusiasm for the teaching position. A strong closing statement leaves a lasting impression and reinforces your commitment to contributing to the school community.

Following Up After Submission

After submitting your application, consider following up with a polite and brief email expressing your continued interest in the position. Avoid being too pushy, but reiterate your enthusiasm and inquire about the expected timeline for the hiring process.

Teacher in classroom

Jumoke Lawson 123 Yaba Ugo Street Yaba Lagos [email protected]

September 24, 2021

Mr. Umar Kabiru Green Peak School 123 Main Street Victoria Island Lagos

Dear Mr. Umar,

I am interested in applying for a secondary teaching position in your school. As a graduate of Yaba College of Education, I have required teaching experience on the JSS 1, 2 and 3 level, in both Physics and Mathematics. I believe my years of teaching experience, coupled with my passion for community engagement make me an ideal candidate for this teaching position.

I am currently teaching JSS 2 students at Bright Stars Secondary School and I have experience teaching secondary school students in a variety of settings. Having held the position of education coordinator at my previous roles, I also have experience in management in the school system. Based on my understanding that this position requires a teacher with varied experiences in the school system, I think my varied experiences would make me a valuable asset for your school.

Part of your school's mission is to engage students from diverse cultures. I have extensive experience incorporating teaching styles that promote cultural diversity and inclusion into my classrooms. For example, as a teacher at Bright Stars Secondary School, I helped the management incorporate Culture Times in the extracurricular activities for the students, which helps students learn about the different cultures of fellow students in a fun way.

My goal is to combine my wide experience and quality of being a compassionate and intelligent teacher to make positive contributions that will benefit your students, school district and community at large.

I hope to hear from you at your earliest convenience.

Sincerely, [signature hard copy letter] Jumoke Lawson

Teacher Cover Letter: Salutation

You can easily find the hiring manager’s name with a quick Linkedin search. Additionally, you can go to the school website and find the hiring manager or the principal's name. You can also call the school helpdesk and ask for the hiring manager’s name.

If the hiring manager has some professional title, accurately mention that in the salutation. For example:

  • “Dear Mr. Fox”
  • “Dear Dr. Smith”
  • “Dear Prof. Xavier”

If you don’t find the hiring manager’s name, address the cover letter with a generic salutation:

  • “Dear Hiring Manager,”
  • “Dear Principal,”

  • Mention if you have any certification or license for teaching

I am a dynamic and committed three years of experienced middle school teacher armed with a track record of designing and implementing course curricula along with an efficient grading system for grades 7-9 to ensure complete student success. I am certified by the University of Learning as a “Grade English Teacher” and proficient in training new teachers and school administrators to work.

Note : This example works because it perfectly nails the teacher cover letter introduction by mentioning years of experience, certification, and an overview of teaching experience

Note : This example does not work because it starts with years of experience or certification. Moreover, it does not successfully address the teacher’s expertise.

Additionally, I have performed administrative duties such as preparing progress reports, grading students, conducting intra-school events, etc. Apart from that, I have headed a team of 20 students on field trips each month.

Note : This example never works because it’s vague. And does not address the candidate’s experience well.
