Speeches are an essential component of every professional or formal event. A welcome speech is a type of speech given by a speaker or the function's host to greet the distinguished Chief Guest and the other guests and express gratitude for their presence. It helps to glorify the occasion.  

Everybody expects an introductory speech for an event. And that is because the opening speech sets the tone for the entire event. One can easily attract the attention of the audience with a catchy first line and introduction. So it is very important to make a good first impression.

This form of opening speech for an event is extremely important if one intends to take time and welcome and extend gratitude to everyone involved in making the event successful. 

Good Morning everyone! A very warm welcome to the respected teachers and the incredible parents. I am so grateful to welcome our students to the commencement ceremony (mention the name of the event). I feel privileged to open this event and stand here, where many accomplished people who I admired and looked up to once stood. 

A very special welcome to our Chief guest (mention their name). They truly set a benchmark for multi-hyphenated achievements. They are an entrepreneur, coach and author of the best selling books in our country and even abroad. Their quiet charitable endeavours at such a young age speak volumes of the person they are and the upbringing they had. Thank you for accepting our invitation to address our students who are about to start another new chapter in their lives. 

I express my gratitude to our esteemed Principal (mention name) for their approval. They have assisted us in not just our development but also in enhancing our creativity and knowledge. And last but not the least, a heartfelt thanks to our esteemed lecturers, without whom we would be incomplete as students. They were always here to assist and advise us in unimaginable ways. They helped us with the development of ideas and the execution of those ideas.

Our Principal, professors, other associates, and the administration department have all supported us. I also can't help but admire my team's tenacious attitude, which went above and beyond to guarantee in successfully organising and completing the event. We all also owe a special appreciation to our sponsors without whom the yearly celebration would be incomplete.

We are all gathered here to mark the end of a year and receive our much-deserved appreciation and certificates. A semester has passed, and another year has come to an end. I am certain that you are all feeling anxious and giddy with excitement at the same time. This is the final official ceremony that we will ever attend in our prestigious school/college (mention the name). The ceremony will last until (mention time), after which our guests will give a message to the students. Our students will also have the opportunity to ask questions and converse with our speaker during a question-and-answer session. Tea and snacks will be offered at the end. Please stay until the end of the session to show your support for our participants.

Our Honourable Principal will address the gathering tonight. I'm confident that their speech will not just be a collection of words but a strong motivational speech. 

For all of the freshmen attending the college this year, I would like to inform you that our college toasts its annual celebration with great excitement and festivities every year, creating amazing memories. Of course, preparing for this big day takes a lot of time and effort because it cannot be achieved overnight. It requires meticulous scrutiny of every element, as even the tiniest oversight might derail the entire endeavour. So please give a huge round of applause to all the organisers!

Let us applaud the efforts of all the contestants who have worked hard in order to shine in their performance. We were quite lucky in having the support of all parties, not just for the participants, but also for the backstage crew.

For today's celebration, a variety of performances have been scheduled. We have Dance performances, singing, and playing instruments, and a variety of other activities like quizzes and other competitions. So everyone! Get ready for some incredible performances from our students, and trust me when I say that you will not be able to take your gaze away from them.

After completing the first round of performances, there will be an awards event recognising the talents and efforts of our college students who competed at various zonal, state, and national level events. 

There are no free lunches in the world. Just because you studied here doesn’t mean you are entitled to all the opportunities. You must remember to work hard and earn every opportunity you want. Take every challenge you face as an opportunity for another chance to prove your worth. Also, know the difference between people to whom you have to prove yourself and those you don’t have to. Always remember to have a sense of humour in life. Only that will get you through the tough times. Life is truly special and with patience and hard work, you will certainly make responsible decisions for yourself, your family and for your country as well.  Take accountability for your failures and learn from them. Don’t let anything bring you down. Stay as passionate and driven as you are today. Keep achieving and reach great heights with flying colours.

Short Speech

This form of welcome speech for an event is helpful when the presenter wishes to keep it simple, short and effective without diverting focus from the main event. 

Good Morning everyone! A warm welcome to respected teachers, parents and students. A special thanks to the Chief Guest of the day (mention his/her name). It's an honour to have such an accomplished author and entrepreneur among us. Thank you (sir/ ma’am/ mx) for accepting the invitation to deliver the keynote speech today and for guiding our students for new beginnings. 

Your teachers have guided you in all your endeavours and your parents have constantly supported you through it. This would not be the same without them. I extend my sincere thanks to all the teachers and parents for their understanding and support.

This is a highly multi-talented batch of students in our school. Aside from academics, we value advancement in the arts, cultural activities, and sports. One of the best aspects of our college is that it places equal emphasis on all areas to develop the overall talents and personalities of the students. I stand here, feeling lucky to be a part of your life, even if it is only in a small way. This school is so proud of all you have accomplished and every achievement you have garnered for yourself.   You all have been excellent performers in academics and won so many olympiads and awards. And you didn’t hold back even in extracurricular activities like sports tournaments like martial arts, football, basketball and badminton. Our school has also been a top performer in inter-school events like dancing, singing, speech, elocution and debate. The book club that you have started which is now thriving also shows your innovative side. 

Our students have put their best foot forward to make this college function a success. Preparations have been underway since last month. Let us all take a moment to appreciate them.

Let me provide the schedule for today's function before we get started. To begin with, we have our principal inviting our honoured guests. We then have a speech, followed by the pupils' performances. At last, our honoured visitors take the stage and relate their experiences. Our distinguished keynote guest will then present medals to the students.

Finally, I'd like to wish everyone a good time at the celebration and I wish you all to take some lovely and happy memories with you. I now invite our Principal Shri (Name of your Principal) to speak a few words.

These are samples for a college event. To extend an understanding, let us go through a general guide for writing a speech.

Address the audience - "Good evening to everyone present here!" is an appropriate greeting. Then, using a sentence like "It is my pleasure to invite everyone to our magnificent venue tonight," welcomes the audience to the event. Keep the tone in check. If it's a special occasion, use a more solemn tone.

Welcome the guests - "A warm welcome to all the esteemed guests present here today!" is a simple and clear greeting to use. Use a sentence like "It's so nice to see you all here on this beautiful day" to make them feel welcome. More informal language may be suitable for an occasion with close friends and relatives. Include a few jokes in your speech to lighten it up.

Information about the event - Give a brief description of the event's name and purpose. If it's important, provide the event's name and age, and a little about the organisation that put it on.

Thank the helpers/aiders - Mention at least two people who assisted in making the event a reality. Mention their names as well as the roles they played. 

Engage the audience - Mention any particularly noteworthy aspects of the incident. If applicable, introduce what's coming up later in the event or the future days. Pick the most significant elements and encourage people to stick around for or pay special attention to them.

Ending the speech - If appropriate, express your hope that the audience appreciates the event. Send your warmest greetings to them for the remainder of the event.

Duration   - Keep your discourse to a reasonable length. The event will determine the duration. A shorter speech is usually better because most people just want to get on with the event. Smaller events should last no more than 1-2 minutes, whereas larger and more formal events, such as conferences, should last no more than 5 minutes.

It is a pleasant evening, steeping in a solemn mood, atmosphere, and singing of my friends. Thank you all for your enthusiasm and “community spirit.”. I express a deep sense of gratitude to our correspondent Lady for giving her a helping hand on every right path we have chosen.

It is a day of joy because together, we will remember many of the moving stories we have experienced in the past years. It is also a day on which our old students, parents, and friends will learn more about the past and future development of the study and school. Our students have always been known as students with diverse capabilities, and I am sure that you will agree today.

We are at a stage where the chapter closes, and a new one begins. It is overwhelming that we are now counting the years since the school was founded. What a journey it was – every year it has its triumphs and struggles. It was an adventurous journey.

The year 2018 – 19 was celebrated in many ways. The Cricket team won, and our school got it with the association of 10 or 11. The similarity between them is that both could not be possible without the team’s effort. It is the most valuable efforts of students who have always cooperate to solve problems and enjoy happiness in the team.

The year was exciting, full of challenges and revival like everyone else. Some days were an endless stream of emergencies that came unannounced. Everyone allows learning, ask questions, reflect, and introspect. As we prepare for the year, we welcome new tryst, new questions, and new problems: new solutions and new heights.

Moreover, when we do, it, we remember that … “On each blade of grass sits an angel who still says: Grows! It grows! – More about school development and a few other points.

Finally, we know that: we have become stronger and intelligent. The happiness and satisfaction of teachers and students show that “everything is good” or “almost everything is good.” Thanks a lot for always trust and support.

Hi everyone. Wow! What an event! It is excellent that the Seminar at the national level has proved very successful.

My name is Vijay Kumar, and I  heartily welcome our chief guest Mr. SunilKumar, and all of you present here on behalf of our brand company Dynamic product. I am here to pay the greeting to the people who added to the success of this event.

First of all, I would like to give thanks to all the speakers who shared valuable knowledge with us. I liked how Mr. Sharma emphasized the drastic change of progressive industrialization in the environment and all the solutions that can be implemented. He is brilliant and grateful.

I furthermore like to express my gratitude to our director for his efforts to enable this Seminar to be held at the national level and to contact and promote other colleges and universities to take part. Thanks to all professors for encouraging students to participate and for guiding them.

As you all know, we have accumulated here to welcome you freshly to our prestigious college. A few short speeches will follow the program by lecturers and our chief guest.

So, you've been asked to give a short welcome speech for an event. Congratulations! And now you want to be doubly sure you get it right. The right content. The right tone. Plus, the right length!

To be effective your welcome speech needs to meet expected, as well as any specific, requirements dictated by the occasion.

The 6 standard welcome speech content ingredients

There are six common or standard content items in a good welcome speech.

  • Greetings to welcome everyone and thanking them for coming along.
  • Acknowledgement of special guests, if there are any.
  • An introduction of the event itself and a brief overview of special highlights the audience will want to know about.
  • Any important housekeeping information, for instance: where the bathrooms are, where lunch will be served and when...
  • An introduction for the next speaker, if there is one.
  • Thanking everyone for coming once more and then concluding having made everybody feel at ease, eagerly anticipating what is to come.

Numbers 1, 3, and 6 are basic essentials you cannot do without. Numbers 2, 4 and 5 may, or may not, be applicable. Pick what you need from them to fit your occasion.

Now let's put all six ingredients into an example of a short welcome speech to open a conference that you can adapt for your own speech.

* (This speech is pure fiction! I made it up to show you how it's done. You'll see its tone is formal rather than informal to fit the occasion. I don't think there is a group called Parents United. "Sue-Ellen Thomas, Jim Smith, Jane Brown and all of our guests, good morning!

My name is April Molloy, and it's my privilege and great pleasure on behalf of Parents United to welcome you all here today.

We are delighted to have you with us to participate and share in this special occasion, our 5th annual Children's Day Conference. Thank you for coming. That many of you have willingly traveled long distances to be here serves as a reminder to us all just how important our work is.

Writing your welcome speech

Tips to help you get your speech right.

When you're entering information into your speech planner:

  • ensure you've got all the names of individuals or special guests you need to mention specifically and, that you know how to pronounce each of them. Also check that you know and use their preferred pronouns: them/they, she/her, he/him...
  • double check the remarks you're going to make about them, or anything else, are factually correct.

Use your introduction of your guests/or the event, as a "teaser" for what is going to come. It will help create anticipation in the audience. Don't ruin it by giving too much away! Just enough to tempt and no more.

Keep it brief. One to two minutes is generally sufficient.

(The word count of my sample welcome speech is 357. It will take approximately 2 minutes to say .) 

Use the S-S-S formula for success: Short, Simple and Sincere. Your listeners will appreciate it.

If you're stuck for words, here's a large selection of  adaptable welcoming phrases with example s entences.  Reading through them could help you to find exactly what you want.

What does a good welcome speech do?

An effective welcome speech has three important functions. It:

  • signals the official beginning of an event . It says to the audience, hush, sit down, stop talking and listen. What you came for is starting!
  • sets the tone for the occasion through the choice of language used . For example, using light-hearted and informal words to welcome guests to a dear friend's birthday party may be completely appropriate.  However, the same type of language to welcome family and friends to a memorial service is unlikely to be. In that setting, people generally expect a more solemn and formal word choice. They could be deeply offended and think the use of casual language is disrespectful.  Understanding and getting tone right is a key element in the overall success of your welcome speech.  
  • unites the audience . It draws everyone together in the common purpose at the heart of the occasion. For example, at a birthday party, the welcome speech invites everyone to join in celebrating the person whose birthday it is. The welcome speech opening a specialist conference will affirm its principal purpose: the coming together of people with mutual interests to meet and share new knowledge. Or if a welcome speech is given to newcomers in a workplace, club or educational setting, its purpose is to give an introductory overview of how things work to help them feel more at ease in their new situation - to help them develop a sense of belonging.

Tone is the combined impact of the words chosen to express something, with how they are structured and, delivered.  All three elements come together to create tone * . 

Get tone wrong, and your welcome speech is a disaster.

Get it right, and it's a triumph!

(Yes, that's hyperbole but I'm sure you get the idea. ☺)

How to choose the right words

The beginning of getting tone right is to think about your audience and the event itself. Your goal is to unite and bring them together in the main purpose at the core of the occasion. What type of language will do that most appropriately and easily?

To answer that question, think about the common interest everybody shares - the principal reason behind them getting together.  It will help guide your language choice.

Is it a fun event like a birthday party for close friends and family? If so, then informal language is likely to be the most apt.

You might hear something along the lines of: "Well, here we all are! The big day has finally arrived. Jean-Marie is 50! Half a century! How on earth did that happen?"

If it's a remembrance service for someone who has recently died, the language you're likely to hear is more formal.

For example: "Friends, family, colleagues, thank you for joining us today to celebrate and give thanks for our dear Jean-Marie. Your presence is gratefully appreciated."

I am feeling extremely honored to be standing in front of you all and welcoming everyone in this grand celebration. The day is mainly special because of the successful completion of 25 years of our college. In this long span of 25 years, the celebrity of our college has extremely developed.

Ahead of we start today’s program, please allow me to share the schedule of today’s annual function, i.e. to start with our Hon’ble principal will grace the stage by felicitating our guest of honor followed by a speech ceremony. Then we will follow the performances of the students, which are a mix of dance performances, singing performances, etc.

of concluding the day, we would also request our guest of honor to say a few words to our students and give away awards to the candidates who have brought accolades and beauty to our college in various disciplines. As well, I would also like to request the head of the sociology department to share her knowledge of women’s healthcare programs and the beneficial opportunities presented to them in different sectors. It would be very helpful for our female audience who can greatly benefit from the speech.

Achievement in Sports

In our college sports are integral as well as a necessary part of our lives. It contributes not only to fitness but helps also in the personality development of an individual. Participation in sports can help build self-esteem, confidence, etc. It also improves concentration.

So with this purpose, our college organizes a separate function for sports called annual sports. Every year 100 percent participation is encouraged and each participant is rewarded. This year our college has been declared as one of the best institutions in sports activities.

Humor works in the right circumstances, but you must spend time thinking it through; not all jokes will be taken lightly, and you want to avoid any misunderstandings.

Remember, your goal is to unite and bring together like-minded individuals who all have a common purpose, that of advancing and sharing knowledge .

In your notes or outline, you’ll want to include the following steps:

  • Welcome the audience - use a clear and strong voice to welcome all attendees and grab their attention.
  • an example of an informal greeting: “Hello and welcome, everyone!”
  • an example of a formal greeting: “Good evening to all attendees. It’s wonderful to see you all.”
  • Introduce the event - say the event’s name, purpose, and age or history (if it’s a repeat event or conference), and talk a bit about the event’s organization.
  • Mention any distinguished guests - ensure you get their names, affiliations, and credentials correct.
  • State the main topics - the main topics are the attendees’ common interests, so you may choose to present a specific subject within the field selected that year.
  • Outline the agenda - mention whether there’ll be sessions with specific poster presentations, (sub)topics, or areas and spaces to exchange and discuss ideas or network. Direct attendees to the conference website, content management tool , or brochure for schedule specifics.
  • Motivate everyone - highlight any conference strengths and warmly introduce the first speaker or entertainment.

Important to note : for virtual events, ensure that attendees can see and hear you clearly and look up from your notes or outline often.

3. Write Your Speech

As you’re finalizing your notes or draft, ensure that your speech is around the five-minute mark to avoid boredom or giving the audience too much information right off the bat (to not take away from any speakers). Consult with the organizing committee about a time frame, as the length of the speech can vary from conference to conference.

4. Rehearse Your Speech

Once you’ve done the necessary research, outlined, and written your welcome speech, it’s time to rehearse it a few times to familiarize yourself with your speech. Read it out loud and practice it with colleagues or friends to get their input and feedback on areas of possible improvement.

However, don’t over-rehearse your speech . You want to still sound natural, not robotic or like you’re reading a script.

Again, ensure you know how to pronounce everyone’s name and credentials as you’re rehearsing, and practice making enough eye contact with the audience or specific attendees as you’re speaking.

Grab your audience's attention with a strong opening. Start with a loud voice and a strong presence that welcomes everyone and gets them involved. Ask a question they can respond to or tell a joke — anything to connect with the audience. Do something that grabs their attention and excites them and makes them thrilled about the event.

Step 3 Add individual greetings for any special guests.

  • Special guests include any people of honor, those that may play a particularly important part in the event, or those who have traveled a long way to be there.
  • Make sure that you practice all of names, titles, and pronunciations of the special guests before your speech.
  • For example you could say, "We'd like to extend a special welcome to our guest of honor, Judge McHenry, who will be speaking later tonight."
  • Alternatively to welcome a group of people you might say, "While we're excited to have you all here tonight, we'd especially like to say welcome to the students from Johnson Middle School."

Step 4 Introduce the event itself.

  • For an informal event such as a birthday party, you could say, "We're so happy to have you here tonight to eat, drink, and celebrate another year of Jessica's life. Now, let's get to it."
  • For a more formal event such as one run by an organisation, you could say, “We are so excited to have you all here to participate in our 10th annual pet’s day, organised by the Animal Rescue Group.”

Forming the Body of the Speech

Step 1 Acknowledge those who have played an important part in the event.

  • An example of acknowledging individual people is saying, “We couldn’t have pulled off this fundraiser without the hard work and dedication of Grace and Sally, who worked tirelessly from day 1 to make today a reality.”
  • Avoid reading off a long list of people or sponsors, as your audience will begin to get bored. Stick to just a handful of highlights.

Step 2 Mention any parts of the event that are of special importance.

  • For instance, at a conference, you might point out when the dinner will be held, or where particular sessions will take place.
  • At a wedding reception, you might note when dancing will start or when the cake will be served.

Step 3 Reiterate your welcoming line.

  • Alternatively, you could end the body of your speech during an informal gathering by saying, “I can't wait to see you all out on the dancefloor!”

Ending the Speech

Step 1 Say that you hope the audience enjoys the event, if applicable.

  • You could also say that you hope that the audience takes something away from the event. For example, “I hope that today inspires ideas and discussions around the ways that we can make our city a better place!”

Step 2 Introduce the next speaker if necessary.

  • At a formal event, you might say, "Now, for our speaker. Rebecca Roberts comes here from Montreal, Canada, and she is a leading expert in the study of the human brain. She'll be speaking tonight on what drives humans to make decisions. Let's welcome her."
  • For a more informal event such as a party, you could say, “Next up is Sam, who has been Kyle’s best friend for 10 years strong. He has a decade of embarrassing stories about Kyle to share with us tonight!"

Step 3 Thank the audience for attending.

  • Alternatively you might say, “Thank you again to everyone for being here tonight to celebrate Joe and Kathleen’s 50th wedding anniversary! Let the celebrations begin!”

Step 4 Keep your speech within a suitable time limit.

  • If you are unsure, ask the organiser or host what an appropriate length of time for your speech will be.

“Hello and a warm good morning/ good afternoon/ good evening to all! Today/ tonight is the day/ night for which we all have been eagerly waiting for months, for which our students and organisers have worked tirelessly for weeks.

The moment has finally arrived. I am [your name] , your host for today/ tonight and I heartily welcome you all to the annual cultural festival of [college name] . We are really honoured to have our respected principal, Mr/Ms [name], chief guests, Mr/Ms [names] , revered teachers, dear parents and of course, our lovely students among us. We are very glad to have you all with us today/ tonight and I welcome you all on the behalf of [college name] to enjoy the event.”

Most school and college functions start with a lamp lighting ceremony. If so is the case with your college, this is how you can invite the principal and chief guests on the stage to light the lamps:

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” – Martin Luther King Jr

“Now, I would like to call on the stage our respected principal Mr/ Ms [name] as well as our chief guests Mr/ Ms [names] for the lamp lighting ceremony. Please give them a huge round of applause.”

Once the lamps are lit, the next step is to honour the chief guests. 

“Now I would like to request our Principal sir/ ma’am to honour our chief guests with the bouquets and mementoes. We thank you for gracing us with your presence.”

“- Thank you, sir/ ma’am. I would now request you all to please take your seats. Thank you. Let’s give them a huge round of applause.”

Calling the Principal for a Welcome Speech

“Education can truly change the world. Without education and dedicated teachers, it would not have been possible for us as a society to come this far. We, the students of [college name], are so blessed and grateful to have such wonderful teachers among us who happily guide us at every step. It is our teachers who have made us capable and responsible.

Our hearts hold so much gratitude for all our teachers. So, on this special occasion, how can we let go of the opportunity to hear words of wisdom from our respected Principal Sir/ Ma’am. Now, I would like to invite our Principal, Mr/Ms [name], to come on the stage, say a few words and enlighten us. Please give him/ her a huge round of applause.”

After the speech

“Thank you so much, sir/ ma’am. That was indeed motivating and I am sure all the students present here agree. We are honoured and privileged to have you among us. Thank you. Please take your seat.”

“Now, our students of [course, year] will present the first act of the evening, a classical Kathak dance performance. Kathak originated in North India and the dance form was used to portray epic tales from Ramayana, Mahabharata as well as other Hindu scriptures. It has now evolved into a brilliant dance form full of technique and grace. Our students today are not only going to show you the traditional side of Kathak but also the more modern, fusion side of it. Let’s welcome them on the stage and present their performance.”

After the first performance

“Wow! What a beautiful performance! Indeed graceful and brilliant. They indeed deserve a huge round of applause! 

Now, it is time for the next performance which I guarantee, is going to be equally mesmerising. Our musically-talented students are now going to present an intriguing musical stage. The story of Romeo and Juliet, but with a twist. Let us welcome them with a round of applause.”

After the performance

“That was truly ethereal. We are so proud of you all! Let’s give these talented young people a huge round of applause. They deserve it. Thank you for such an amazing performance.”

“The famous Irish poet, Oscar Wilde, once said – I regard the theatre as the greatest of all art forms, the most immediate way in which a human being can share with another the sense of what it is to be a human being. Indeed, dramas and plays can help us connect with the audience and get the message across in ways that plain conversations are unable to. And so, I believe that our next act of the event by the members of our drama club will also be successful in getting its message across. Before we kick start today’s program, I – Abhinav Sharma – the assistant manager of ABC Group in our company and your host for today would like to welcome each and every one of you to this special event. I am extremely pleased to welcome those who have been serving our company for a long time and those as well who have recently joined.

This day, as I am sure most of you would know, marks the 11 th annual group meeting and it is a proud moment for all of us that our company could host this meeting at this spectacular place with all of us.

Secondly, I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to all my colleagues who were always more than ready to lend their support in making this event a success. It is not possible to take the names of all, so I want to thank everyone who contributed in some or the other way towards this event. It wouldn’t have been possible without the support of you all.

In today’s event, our focus would be all those new volunteers who have recently joined us. Do you know why you all have been appointed by your respective managers? Of course, it’s because you displayed mutual passion and a spirit to work for a company in close association with everyone. Your passion for work helps us to come together and unite the energy that we have in order to realize our goals at both personal and professional levels. Everyone needs everyone here to be able to work towards the growth of the company and that’s why it calls for a celebration that we could have all the like-minded people under one roof.

In the coming months, you will be taught different initiatives with the help of planned seminars, activities, and special events where you (the new volunteers) will be invited and given hands-on expertise. I hope this chain of events will help you grow and become more productive as well as smarter than your present capacity.

I hope I am not taking too much of your time and now without any further ado, I would like to call on stage my manager to let you know about our upcoming projects/activities. Please be ensured that today will be a lot of fun and packed with learning.

This day couldn’t have been more special as our chief guest, Mr. ……….. – The famous author of fiction is amongst us to grace the event.

I, on behalf of the entire school, welcome you Sir and express our gratitude for accepting the invitation and taking time out of your packed schedule for our school. We really acknowledge your kind gesture. Secondly, huge congratulations on the publication of your yet another book… We sincerely hope that it does really well and touch the cord of the masses. I would like to call upon stage our Hon’ble principal to felicitate our guest today, with a bouquet of flowers and a memento. Let us give a huge round of applause for them everyone!

As we all know that this award ceremony is conducted every year to acknowledge and appreciate the hard work, sincerity, and dedication of our working staff as well as students. Clearly, the growth of this school wouldn’t have been possible without the proactive efforts of our administration as well as our highly educated as well as experienced faculty members. Of course, the dedicated efforts of our principal as well as vice principal top it all as since the time of their appointment we can witness a steady growth of our school. We have now become known everywhere and our school is now well-equipped with every necessary infrastructure as well as facilities required for the smooth running of our school.

There is greater contentment in all our working staff and the enthusiasm among our students is higher. Our students are now getting exposed to more and more opportunities whether it’s in academics or other co-curricular activities. In state and national level competitions, we are observing a rising level of our students which is getting reflected in their performances. As a result of which they are able to bag more awards for themselves as well as our school.

However, today we have gathered to acknowledge this year’s achievement of our students and our teachers. This year has been very special for all of us in terms of academic and non-academic achievements. Even more special is the fact our school got listed amongst the top 5 schools of …….. Area by a leading daily newspaper. This is indeed a matter of great pride for all of us and hence calls for celebration.

Now, without any further ado let us commence the award ceremony. The first category is for our teachers and the second category is for our students. I would request all the winners to come backstage and get ready for their names to be called out.

Hon’ble Chief Guests, Respected Principal, Vice Principal, Professors, Dear Friends, and a Lovely Audience – Warm Greetings to all of you!

I – Aakash Sinha and Akanksha Gaur from the humanities stream (3 rd year), welcome everyone to the 10th annual event in our college. It feels great seeing the overwhelming audience and their contagious enthusiasm. Before we kick start the celebration, please allow me to felicitate our chief guest with a small gesture, i.e. bouquet and a gift! For this, I will request our respected principal to come on stage and do the honors.

Everyone let’s put our hands together for a huge round of applause. Now, I would request our chief guest to say a few words to our students and share your personal life experiences, which will I am sure will be a great morale booster.

Now before our Principal Ma’am comes on stage to say a few words, I on behalf of the entire school wish to express my gratitude for paying a visit to our college and giving us such an inspirational speech. I am sure everyone enjoyed your speech as much as I did. Now, may we please call on stage our ma’am to address our students and their parents on this auspicious day?

It was very nice listening to our principal ma’am and she always wins our hearts through her motivating stories and the warmth that she expresses. Now friends, as the ritual goes for our annual college fest, we will first have all our cultural programs followed by the award ceremony and lunch. So brace yourself to the seats and get ready for unlimited fun.

We also have participants from other colleges and I want to specially welcome them and thank them on behalf of our college for coming here in order to showcase their talent. I am sure this is further going to raise the entertainment quotient and will give us unlimited fun. There are going to be 12 performances in total, some of them are dance performances – both classical and western, some singing performances, some will include instrument playing and some would be the dramatic enactment. All the students have worked with a lot of dedication and sincerity so that they can shine through in their performances and make their college proud.

Other than these cultural programs, there would also be a special session dedicated to underprivileged children as well as children with special needs. In this session, our principal ma’am would enlighten all of us about the association which is actively working for these children and how our college is contributing towards this noble cause. So everyone is requested to attend the session and make their contribution in whatever manner they could. This is all I want to say!

Now here I rest my speech and call upon the stage the very first group of performers, i.e. Aarohi Group! Please welcome them with a huge round of applause.

I, Neeta Sehgal – have been a fashion designer for 7 years; co-partnered with ABC Group, feel extremely glad to have you all here. It is very important to remain consistent in our performance and continue raising benchmarks in order to excel in our own personal capacities otherwise it would result in stagnation, and stagnancy is very detrimental to growth.

Now friends, before I take you to my newly furnished store which houses some of my fresh spring and summer collections, I would like to deliver a short Fashion speech on the importance of fashion and why it is so important in our lives. What comes to your mind, when I say the very word – “Fashion”! Fashion according to me instantly brings to mind a pop of colors with a dash of glamour.

I am sure every single person has got that innate desire to look good and be accepted in his/her respective social group. Fashion differs from person to person – for some fashion means simplicity, for some it means a dash of class, style and glamour and for some it simply means comfort.

Of course, when it comes to women – fashion constantly evolves and they are in fact the lead runner in this entire game as they constantly experiment with different styles, looks and textures. Fashion plays a crucial role in an individual’s life as it is meant to be a medium of self-expression. Isn’t it!? The attires and accessories which men and women don help them shape their personalities and to get identified with a group – in terms of lifestyle, religion, profession as well as attitude. Therefore, the very term ‘fashion’ is equated with the overall development of a nation as well.

Various factors help in the growth of fashion as a whole. It is a widely accepted phenomenon that the elite and famous class, the royalty as well as political figures dominate the fashion industry in a big way by becoming the trend setters. Next comes the advertising media, which contributes effectively in informing us about the daily style updates. Today marks a very special day for us, as we come together to celebrate our achievements and milestones.

This event would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of our organizers and volunteers.

Our event promises to be a fun-filled and exciting experience for all, with a range of activities and competitions lined up.

Good evening, everyone. I hope you are all having a wonderful evening. I am Sunny, a proud student of Don Bosco School, and I am honored to address you all today on the occasion of our Annual Function.

Today, we come together to celebrate the achievements of our school, the hard work of our students and the dedication of our teachers. This annual function is an opportunity for us to showcase our talents, skills, and creativity to our parents, teachers, and the community.

Over the past year, our school has been buzzing with activity, and we have accomplished so much. We have organized various competitions and events like debates, quizzes, sports day, music and dance competitions and much more. Our students have taken part in these events with great enthusiasm and have won numerous awards and accolades.

Today, we are here to celebrate the best of these achievements and to recognize the efforts of our students and teachers. I am proud to say that the competitions that we have planned for this evening are a true reflection of our school's motto "Excellence in education and service to humanity".

Let's start with the debates competition. This year, we have had some exceptional speeches from our students on topics ranging from current events to social issues. Our students have displayed their critical thinking skills and their ability to present their arguments effectively.

Next, we have the quiz competition. This year, our students have demonstrated their broad knowledge of various subjects, including history, science, and mathematics. They have shown us that they are not only knowledgeable but also competitive and driven to succeed.

In addition to these, we also have music and dance competitions. Our students have showcased their musical talents by performing beautiful classical and contemporary pieces. Similarly, our dance competition has been a true spectacle, with students performing a variety of traditional and modern dances.

We also have the sports day, where our students have competed in various events like track and field, basketball, and soccer. They have shown us that they have the determination and drive to succeed not just in academics but also in sports.

Lastly, I would like to extend a special thank you to our teachers. They have been the driving force behind our success and have helped us to reach new heights. They have encouraged and supported us every step of the way, and we are grateful for their unwavering commitment to our education.

Good afternoon everyone, my name is Fatima and I am honored to stand before you today as a representative of Don Bosco School. Today, we are here to celebrate our school's Tech Fest, where students from all grades come together to showcase their talents and creativity in technology.

As we all know, technology plays a vital role in our daily lives, and it is important for us to understand how it can be used in various aspects of our lives. Our school has organized this tech fest to give students an opportunity to explore their technological skills and showcase their innovations.

The tech fest includes a wide range of competitions, including coding, web development, app development, digital art, robotics, and many others. The students have worked hard over the past few months to bring their ideas to life and showcase their talents in technology.

One of the most exciting competitions of the tech fest is the coding competition, where students will have the opportunity to show their coding skills and creativity by developing a software or application. The best part about this competition is that it's not just about coding, but it's also about problem-solving, critical thinking, and innovation. The students will have the chance to demonstrate their skills in a real-world scenario, and they will be judged on their ability to create a software or application that solves a real-world problem.

Another competition that is worth mentioning is the web development competition. This competition is for students who have a passion for creating websites and want to show their skills in web design and development. This competition will test students' abilities to create a visually appealing and functional website that meets specific requirements.

Another exciting competition is the app development competition, where students will have the opportunity to demonstrate their skills in developing mobile applications. This competition is open to all students who have an interest in app development and want to showcase their skills in creating a useful and user-friendly mobile application.

In addition to these competitions, there is also a digital art competition, where students can showcase their creativity by creating digital art using software such as Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator. This competition will give students the chance to demonstrate their artistic skills and show their ability to use technology to create beautiful and unique digital art.

Finally, the tech fest also includes a robotics competition, where students will have the opportunity to showcase their skills in robotics and programming. This competition is for students who have an interest in robotics and want to show their ability to design and build robots that can perform specific tasks.

In conclusion, I would like to thank all the students who have participated in this tech fest and have shown their passion and dedication in technology. Your hard work and creativity have made this event possible, and I am sure that everyone will enjoy the competitions and learn a lot from them.
