Application & Admission Requirements

Eligibility conditions for admission into the first year of UD PhD Program:

• Hold a Master's degree (or equivalent) from an accredited university.
• Have a GPA of 3.0 or more out of 4.0 in the Master's degree;
• Have at least 3 years of managerial or teaching experience;
• Satisfy the English language entry requirement:
• TOEFL 550 (paper-based), or TOEFL 79 (internet- based) or IELTS 6.0;
• Candidates must provide the following for application process:
• Complete the application form Provide 2 satisfactory reference letters;
• Provide a certified copy of the last 2 degrees (Bachelor and Master's degree);
• Provide an updated CV;
• Submit a Research Proposal (please strictly follow the guidelines as in item 4);
• Attend an interview with the PhD Program Committee;
• Pay application fees AED 3,000 (non-refundable).

*Provide attested document for Bachelor and Master Degree.

Writing a Research Proposal is a crucial step. This is the first critical move in joining the applied research community. Therefore, the content should include the following elements in a separate sheet in the same order:

• Formulate a managerial problem.
• Justify why the research topic is important from a managerial point of view.
• Identify clear research questions, that are of a scope suitable for doctoral research in business administration.
• Position your research within a body of existing academic literature (i.e. Strategic Management, Organizational Behavior, Human Resource Management, Finance, Accounting, Marketing, Information System Management, etc..), Identify gaps and use the literature to justify the need for further research.
• Take an aptitude test to assess the knowledge level of PhD candidates covering research process: including problem identification, hypothesis testing, basic statistics and probability concepts.
• Suggest a consistent methodology, including methods for data collection and analysis.
• Explain the potential impacts of your research both from a managerial and academic standpoint.
• Format: No more than 5 pages typed; Font size 12; Font type Times New Roman, 1.5 line spacing.

• Tuition fees policy (2016-17) no discount allowed since tuition fees are highly competitive by Dubai Chamber.
• Thesis courses: 10 (3 CH each) Non-thesis courses: 10 (3 CH each) for total of 20 courses.
• Tuition fees for each 3 CH courses is AED 18,000/-
• Total PhD program AED 360,000+Application fee AED 3000/-
• Each term student registers for 2 courses and pay the fee in advance of the start of the classes.
• I understand that the university may obtain official records from any educational institution I have previously attended.
• I authorize any institution named on any document provided as evidence of my qualifications or work experience or which are named in my application to release to the university any personal information which they may hold about me for the purpose of verification of my supporting documents.
• I authorize the university to release any personal information they may hold about me to any other educational institution which is seeking to verify my student conduct or academic record for the purpose of determining my eligibility for admission or enrolment. I agree to be bound by all the rules, regulation & policies of the University.
• I understand that I am fully responsible for my education and living expenses while studying at the university.
