My tenth birthday is the most memorable day of my life. It is a day I can never forget and I consider it to be the best birthday yet. The day started just like any other normal day. However, as it kept progressing, a lot of exciting things began to happen.

I woke up very early on my birthday because I had to dress up in casual clothes for school . The day before, all my candies were ready that I would distribute in the classroom.

My mother prepared my favourite breakfast and gave me a big chocolate bar for lunch as well. I went to school and the whole class sang for me and congratulated me. It was the turn to distribute sweets.

My best friend and I went to all the teachers to distribute toffees and we had a great time there. Moreover, it was an incredible feeling. My friends were all singing for me and eager to come to my birthday party later in the evening.

My Birthday Party

The birthday at my school was memorable but the birthday party at my home made the day even more memorable. Also, my mother invited all my friends from school and the colony to the party.

I received so many presents and we played a lot of games. We played games like musical chairs, tag, egg-and-spoon races, and more. There were so many songs playing so everyone did a special dance too.

The highlight of my birthday party was definitely my huge birthday cake. As I love superheroes, my mother got the cake customized with the superhero theme. It was very tasty too and in my favourite flavour.

During the summer vacation, I visited Mussoorie with my parents. I had never been to Mussoorie before. So it was a new experience for me. Everywhere there was a great hustle and bustle. The weather was very pleasant. Mussoorie is Rightly called the ‘Queen of Hills’. It transports one into a heaven of joy.

My parents took me to Lal Tibba, the highest point in Mussoorie. Lal Tibba provides a mesmerizing view of Himalayan mountain peaks. I was mesmerized to see beautiful scenery and high mountains. We also visited Happy Valley, Kempty Falls and Mussoorie lake. Visiting Mussoorie was the most memorable incident in my life.

Last month, our school arranged a trip to the Taj Mahal, Agra. The beauty of the Taj Mahal seemed to have no parallel. It is made of white marble on the bank of the river Yamuna. I found in the Taj Mahal the artistic and cultural heritage of India. Every stone of this building tells the story of the true love of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz. A memorable incident is an incident which leaves an everlasting impression on our minds. The most memorable incident of my life is when I got an opportunity to exhibit my talent on stage in front of a huge audience. I always dreamt of becoming a singer. As a kid, I used my toothbrush as the mike and treated my dolls as my audience.

I was enrolled in a vocal training course in an eminent singer’s singing class and from there, based on my performance I was selected to display my skills at the Zee Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. The best day of my life is my 16th birthday. It is a day I will never forget in my life. I consider it till now my best birthday. All my relatives and friends were present at my birthday party. The best part of the party was my grandmother was present there. For the last time, she prepared all the food items I loved eating. It is even more special as it was the last day that I spent with her, after which she passed away. I spent the most time with her and she also enjoyed herself a lot with me for the last time in her life. This birthday is even more special as it was my last birthday with my grandmother.

The best day of my life was when I went on a school outing with my friends. We ate delicious food and enjoyed the day to the fullest.

I woke up at 6 am and got ready for school. My mother dropped me to school. From there we went to a science park by bus. During the entire journey we danced, sang, played games, and did many more fun activities. We ate snacks and played games with our teacher also. When we arrived we visited the science city and enjoyed every bit of it.

Besides the science park, it was a water park, so we quickly changed our clothes and jumped into the pool. We enjoyed ourselves in the pool, and we kept on playing for an hour. After that, we took a bath and changed clothes. We had rice and chicken for our lunch. We loved the food. After the food, we returned by bus. During the whole bus journey, we sang and danced.

This day is memorable as I could spend it with my friends. The day was a day to be remembered. We had so much fun together. Everything is worth remembering from the beginning to the end of the journey.

Recently I received the best gift from my dad. Since childhood, I always wanted a dog, and recently he had brought me one. I was studying in my room, dad entered my room with a labrador in his hands. I jumped from my bed with happiness. I also started crying as I could not believe my eyes. My mom and dad were always against having a dog. But he brought it, and made it the best day of my life.

Significance of My Best Day

I still remember myself bursting into tears and happiness at the same time. That night I held Bruno the whole time. The next moment I saw myself buying stuff for the dog. I bought food, clothes, toys, and many more things which would make him happy. That night I held him tight and slept beside him. I could not sleep the whole night due to the excitement.

I looked at him throughout the entire night with utmost happiness and surprise. That day was the best day of my life as I got my best friend. A best friend who would never leave me. A best friend who will always be there for me whenever I need him.A best friend who will make me the happiest. A friend who will love me to the fullest. That dog gave me the ultimate happiness and, this is how the day became the best day of my life. I named the dog Bruno.

I am always looking for him whenever I come back from school. He always jumps, licks me, and wags his tail after seeing me. My friends come along with me to play with him. Bruno also became their friend.

What I Love about My Dog

The thing that I love about Bruno the most is that he can gel well with people. My sister was not that comfortable with dogs. But Bruno made her fall in love with him. They are now the best of friends. He would jump in happiness whenever he saw him. She would also run toward him and would pick him up. She feeds him food and always brings toys and treats for him. She loves her to the fullest and, at the same time he loves her to the fullest. This is how Bruno became everyone's favourite.

I remember it very clearly. I was in the third standard and my school was holding a Christmas celebration just before the winter break started. It was morning time and I was going to school with my father.

My father used to drop me to school every day before going to his office. He is an accountant. My mother is a police officer and she would come late at night so my father and I would make breakfast for her every day while she slept. For the Christmas holidays, we were planning to go to Goa for vacations. I was very happy and excited. We were going out after so long.

For the Christmas celebration, our school hosted a huge program because it was a boys-only convent school. We always had a skit performance about how Jesus Christ was born and a huge choir group used to sing.

After the principal’s long speech, we always have a feast and at the end, they used to give us a chocolate cake with rum. That day was no different. My father dropped me to school and I rushed inside to meet my friends. Thereafter we attended the morning assembly as usual.

The Christmas celebration started and I took part in card making competition. I had prepared a lot for this competition. I even went to my grandmother’s house yesterday so she could give me some ideas.

My grandmother was very good at drawing and so she drew a light outline of a Christmas tree and Santa Claus on a sheet of paper for me. The plan was that I would draw over the lines and colour the figures and blow some glitter over the card.

I took out all my supplies like fevicol, scissors, my favourite set of wax crayons that my cousin sister gifted me on my last birthday and set to work.

I was almost halfway done when the teacher approached my desk. I could never understand why the teachers took so much interest and roamed the class to spy over their students’ work.

When the teacher reached my table, I got so nervous that I knocked over my pencil box and everything fell on the floor. Everything littered on the floor-my pencils, sharpener, eraser.

I bent to pick up everything and by the time I assembled everything back to place, the teacher had seen my card. I was terrified because I thought that he would see the outline of the figures my grandmother made to help me but the teacher, Mr. Rao, smiled at me appreciatively and walked ahead.

I was shocked but quickly got back to complete my work because the time was running out. The designated time for the competition got over and we all moved to the auditorium to attend the skit performance.

I remember laughing till my stomach ached because the boy who was playing Virgin Mary’s character had a lot of trouble with his costume. I remember groaning together with the rest of the boys as the Principal walked on the stage to make one of his long long speeches.

He started and I tuned out though I remember him saying something about integrity and honour and the joy of festivals. Then he wished us all a very Merry Christmas and allowed the great feast to finally commence.

We all eagerly rushed to the Main Area for the feast and had delicious Paneer tikka and Chicken curry. I remember watching the boy sitting beside me, Arun, vomit everything out and I remember thinking that maybe I should slow down and actually chew my food before swallowing.

One of the teachers helped the poor boy off his chair and to the sick room. I remember gobbling down his share of the special Christmas cake with rum.

Then it was finally time for the announcement of winners from the Christmas card making competition. My breath hitched and clutched my hands together to stop them from shaking.

The teacher who was announcing, Mrs. Kothari, took a long time before she reached my class. And suddenly I could hear my name booming in her voice.

I had won the second prize in the Christmas card making competition! I was elated. I rushed to the stage and accepted the certificate for a runner up with shaking hands from my Principal. I was grinning so wide I thought my face would split into two.

Afterwards, when I reached home from the daycare in the evening with my father, I saw my mother opening the front door for us. But how? She was supposed to be at work.

She engulfed me in a hug and I told her everything, not missing even a single detail. After washing up, I called my grandmother and told her that I won the second prize.

She let out a whoop and congratulated me and said that she is so proud of me. It was the first time anyone had told me that. It was truly a very good, happy and memorable day!

The night was hard for me to pass and finally, the sun have come out. I quickly got ready for school and went to my classes as usual. However, as the day progressed, I couldn’t help but feel more and more anxious. I was a little nervous and a little excited bith the feeling of having a tug of war in my brain and heart. I knew that the results of the scholarship award were going to be announced that day, and I had worked extremely hard to secure it.

I have worked so hard and burned the night oil for the past few days and finally, my wait was over. My stomach had butterflies in it. Little excited and still nervous I was. Sometimes the fear was also striking my consciousness that if I do not receive it all my hopes will be crushed but still I kept a headstrong attitude.

Finally, the time arrived, and our principal called out the names of the students who had been selected for the scholarship. As he started reading out the names, my heart began to race. With every name, I grew more anxious, hoping that my name would be called out too. My anxiety was growing with each passing second. Bad thoughts like my name would never be called by our principal were also there. And then, finally, the moment arrived. The principal called out my name, and I couldn’t believe it. It felt like a dream and have to pinch myself to make sure that it was all real.

I had won the scholarship, and my joy knew no bounds. Success was finally mine. My hard work finally paid me back. I felt emotional and some tears of happiness were there in my eyes. I felt a sense of pride and achievement that I had never felt before. All my hard work and the late-night studies session were now paid.

As I walked up to the stage to receive my award, I felt a wave of emotions wash over me. I was proud of myself, and I knew that my hard work had paid off. When I arrived at the graduation ceremony, I was greeted by a sea of fellow graduates and their families. We all made our way to our seats, and I looked around at the faces of my classmates, realizing that we had all come so far since the first day of college.

There are many happy and sad days in my life, but there are also days that remain as memories for a lifetime, and there is one day in my life that I remember constantly, and that is my 12th birthday.

I was really scared that day because it was my senior year. In class we had a test and my mom said I had 93%. With trembling hands and a beating heart, I heard this and began to dance.

I thanked my God and my parents began to encourage and congratulate me, my cousins also stood up and rejoiced that I had achieved such a high percentage.

The whole atmosphere in the house changed immediately, my friends and relatives came to congratulate me, many people gathered in my house and my mother prepared sweets for everyone and my parents bought many boxes of sweets for me because they were in a very happy mood.

After I got the results, I went to my school, met with the principal and teachers, and told them my percentage. They were very happy when they heard it and congratulated me, we were in joy and we were also sorry for some of my friends who could not pass their exams.

When I got home in the evening, I saw that many of my friends had gathered to congratulate me and we celebrated by cutting the cake that my friends had prepared. The day ended well and it was the best day of my life that I will remember for years to come. These days are not just the days when you feel like you are in heaven, they are memorable because of the joy many people have given you and it becomes a part of your life as you grow.

There are days in everyone’s life that become unforgettable. When you think of that day, a smile appears on your face and it becomes a day to remember.

The Evening

Justices seemed split on emergency abortion access.

Supreme Court justices appeared sharply divided today over whether federal law should allow doctors to perform emergency abortions in states that have adopted near-total bans on the procedure.

At issue in the case is Idaho’s ban, which allows abortion to save the life of a pregnant woman but not to prevent her health from deteriorating. The federal government argued that the Idaho measure violates a federal law requiring hospitals to stabilize or transfer patients with urgent medical issues.

The challenge applies to only a tiny fraction of the nation’s abortions, my colleague Pam Belluck, who covers reproductive care, told me. “But the implications of whatever the Supreme Court decides in this case could be very broad,” she added.

A broad decision could especially affect abortion access in the 14 states that have enacted near-total bans. “It could telegraph to states that what Idaho is doing either is or is not OK, and that could change those states’ abortion bans one way or another,” Pam said. “If the justices side with Idaho, it could also say to states that ‘abortion isn’t the only thing you can restrict.’”

Today’s arguments were lively, and at times they suggested that there was a possible divide along gender lines. Justice Amy Coney Barrett, a conservative, appeared skeptical that Idaho’s law superseded the federal law. “I don’t think it’s a slam dunk either way,” Pam said.

Pam also noted that today’s hearing suggested that some of the court’s conservatives, particularly Justice Samuel Alito, may be prepared to embrace the language of fetal personhood , which is the notion that fetuses have rights that require protection.

In related news, Arizona lawmakers advanced a bill to scrap an abortion ban , based on an 1864 law, that could go into effect as soon as June 8 if not repealed.

U.S. weapons are headed to Ukraine

President Biden today signed into law a foreign aid package that includes more than $60 billion in assistance for Ukraine. It is the largest single commitment the U.S. has made to Ukraine since Russia began its full-scale invasion in 2022.

Soon after the legislation was enacted, the Pentagon announced that it would rush the first $1 billion in aid, including a range of missiles, cluster munitions and battlefield vehicles. The shipment also contains longer-range versions of weapons known as Army Tactical Missile Systems, or ATACMS — weapons that the U.S. secretly shipped to Ukraine last week .

Israel appears poised to invade Rafah

Israel’s military this week sketched out rough plans to relocate civilians in the southern Gaza city of Rafah to a safe zone in the event of an Israeli ground invasion. Many analysts and residents saw the announcement as a hint that an assault of the city was all but inevitable .

Israeli officials have long insisted that a push into Rafah is necessary for securing the release of the remaining hostages and eliminating Hamas militants sheltering in tunnels beneath the city. But many of Israel’s Western allies, including the U.S., have discouraged it from invading the city, where more than one million Gazans are now sheltering.

In other news from the war, Hamas released a video apparently showing Hersh Goldberg-Polin , an Israeli American hostage.

Johnson said Biden should act to end campus protests

Speaker Mike Johnson, Republican of Louisiana, visited Columbia University today and condemned the pro-Palestinian protests there. He said he intends to call President Biden and demand action, including possibly the sending in of the National Guard to quell the demonstrations, which Johnson called antisemitic.

Similar protests have been reported at more than 20 college campuses .
