Shamshera movie release highlights: Fans in love with Ranbir’s performance, Alia Bhatt says it is ‘Kapoor day’
Ranbir kapoor starrer shamshera movie release highlights: the karan malhotra directorial stars ranbir kapoor in a double role. it also features sanjay dutt and vaani kapoor..
Shamshera movie review and release highlights: Ranbir Kapoor starrer Shamshera has hit theatres across India. The Karan Malhotra directorial also stars Vaani Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt. Shamshera is Ranbir’s first release after four years.
The movie has Ranbir Kapoo r playing a double role of Shamshera and Balli. Speaking about shedding the image from his previous coming-of-age movies, Ranbir said Shamshera gave him an opportunity to play the quintessential Hindi film hero.
Ranbir told indianexpress.com , “Leaving aside the joy of playing the hero, it is a great script again as much as Barfi or Sanju was. It was catering to a larger audience. It had an array of emotions, amazing characters and some amazing action sequences. It was this larger than life film.”
Sanjay Dutt plays Daroga Shuddh Singh. The latter is reuniting with Karan Malhotra after Agneepath in 2012, where he played the main villain Kaancha Cheena. The actor said Shamshera is made for the masses . He told us, “Shamshera is an amazing film, most commercial film I have come across in recent times, it is made for the masses. Bade Miyan Chote Miyan review: ‘Too much to handle’
“First half suffers from poor script, dialogues, acting & editing. The action scenes are good but just too much to handle. Supporting cast 👎🏻 Let's see if the second half can save it. This is not mass & not even stylish," read a review.

Bade Miyan Chote Miyan review: ‘Unbearable’
'1.5/5 -UNBEARABLE with few Action Blocks. Whole cast performance was so bad and cringe. Prithviraj wasted as Villian. Songs were bad,BGM too good and Few Action Blocks were Good but couldn't Impress much. NOT RECOMMENDED," read a review for the movie.

Bade Miyan Chote Miyan review: ‘Epic disappointment'
“#OneWordReview... #BadeMiyaChoteMiyan : UNBEARABLE. Rating: ⭐️½ Brings back memories of #War… Even #AkshayKumar’s and #TigerShroff star-power cannot save this ship from sinking… EPIC DISAPPOINTMENT,” read a review on Twitter.
Bade Miyan Chote Miyan review: 'Mind-blowing action'
“The first half of #BadeMiyanChoteMiyan was gripping and intense, with #AkshayKumar𓃵’s adrenaline-pumping sequences! The pacing keeps on the edge of seat, and the action is Mind-Blowing! Can't wait to see how the story unfolds in the 2nd half,” read a tweet.
Bade Miyan Chote Miyan review: ‘A blast’
“Now watching #BadeMiyanChoteMiyan. One action scene and one song done, and kafi swag hai... #AkshayKumar and #TigerShroff seem to be having a blast, quite literally! Hope the momentum continues,” tweeted Hindustan Times' Monika Rawal Kukreja.
Bade Miyan Chote Miyan review: Riteish Deshmukh's review

Bade Miyan Chote Miyan review: Fans get headaches!
“If the makers watch their own film peacefully after making such films, then they will never dare to make a headache film like #BadeMiyanChoteMiyan again. But sadly, every year, under the guise of masala entertainer and on the basis of star power, the audience has to watch such absurd films. The action is good but it is so much that you will get tired after the interval and will want to sleep peacefully. I did not like this film at all. Even a good actor like Prithviraj has been wasted. Such a film was not expected from Ali Abbas Zafar. It is difficult for the film to be a success,” read a tweet on Twitter.
Maidaan review by Javed Akhtar
“I watched Maidaan. It is a true story that will make every Indian proud of our certain national achievements that unfortunately most of us don’t know about. A must watch. Congratulations to producer Boney Kapoor, director Amit Sharma and to Ajay Devgan, who has given a mind blowing performance,” wrote lyricist Javed Akhtar about this week's other release, Maidaan.
Bade Miyan Chote Miyan review live: Audience reviews are in
“Bade Miyan Chote Miyan fails miserably as an action movie. Poorly executed fight scenes and lackluster storyline make it one of the worst action movies I've seen. Not recomended,” read a tweet about the film.

‘Strictly Confidential’ Review: Makeout Scenes and Flimsy Melodrama on a Caribbean Isle
Producer-star Elizabeth Hurley’s son Damian wrote and directed this sometimes amusing ersatz thriller, which often seems more a tourism lure for St. Kitts and Nevis.

“Some secrets are meant to stay buried” says the ad line for “ Strictly Confidential .” But you’d need a sizable underground bunker to contain all the effortfully shocking revelations sprung in this very silly sudser, which starts out looking like an erotic thriller-mystery, then descends into a series of flashback-laden explication monologues more apt for “Dynasty” than Agatha Christie.
A note of fashion/travel advertisement is struck immediately with images of bikinied thespians floating in clear blue waters, writhing in the arms of muscular shirtless men, and so forth — an opening montage not elevated when it turns out to be dreamt by someone bathing in the requisite luxury bathtub surrounded by (doubtless scented) candles.
That someone is Mia (Georgia Lock), who seems to wake from another such vaguely troubling reverie every 20 minutes or so here. She is the erstwhile best friend of Rebecca (Lauren McQueen), who presumably drowned herself last summer. But as the reasons for suicide were obscure, her body remains unfound, and her father had also died a rather murky death just weeks prior, the whole affair as yet lacks “closure.”
Mia has a lot of questions about what happened last summer. No one else wants to talk about it — albeit not from painful grief, it turns out. Rather, it’s because they’ve all got guilty secrets to hide. They hide them pretty poorly, since gape-mouthed Mia keeps walking in on people caught making out with the “wrong” other party.
There are also flashbacks to other makeout scenes, though the initial steamy musk redolent of vintage “Skinemax” and Zalman King movies proves deceptive. Eventually the film grows less interested in softcore suggestiveness than murder-mystery-adjacent plot mechanizations as convoluted (and flashback-laden) as they are increasingly ridiculous.
Somewhere around the two-thirds mark, escalating levels of pure tosh begin to perversely work in the movie’s favor. What had been a mildly scenic if paper-thin diversion turns into the kind of joint whose narrative big reveals also trigger big laughs — with considerable help from hackneyed dialogue and some awkward acting moments. The histrionic burden falls heaviest on Lock, who cannot be said to emerge unscathed.
But in truth, as written and directed, these roles might flummox the most talented interpreters. Plausibility of action and psychology appears to have taken a distant back seat to concerns of how the performers look in the variably skimpy or low-cut costumes by Gabbi Edmunds. Likewise, George Burt’s widescreen cinematography eschews any suspenseful atmospherics in favor of a bright, bland showcasing of handsome getaway decor (Tom Downey is the production designer) and attractive beach views. Michael Richard Plowman’s original score further underlines that we’re basically watching a cheesy soap opera in B-movie form.
Purportedly shot in just 18 days, “Strictly Confidential” is most kindly viewed as on-the-job training for the junior Hurley, who under those circumstances acquits himself well. His film has sufficient professional polish and passable entertainment value, intentional or otherwise. But one assumes his scriptwriting did not suffer from the same time constriction, in which case that labor should definitely be left to others in future projects.

'Civil War' review: Kirsten Dunst leads visceral look at consequences of a divided America
We see “Civil War” trending on social media all too commonly in our divided country, for one reason or another, and usually nodding to extreme cultural or ideological differences. With his riveting new action thriller of the same name, writer/director Alex Garland delivers a riveting cautionary tale that forces viewers to confront its terrifying real-life consequences.
“Civil War” (★★★½ out of four; rated R; in theaters Friday) imagines a near-future America that’s dystopian in vision but still realistic enough to be eerily unnerving. It's a grounded, well-acted ode to the power of journalism and a thought-provoking, visceral fireball of an anti-war movie.
Played exceptionally by Kirsten Dunst , Lee is an acclaimed war photographer covering a fractured America: The Western Forces led by California and Texas have seceded from the USA and are days away from a final siege on the federal government. Lee and her reporting partner Joel (Wagner Moura) have been tasked with traveling from New York City to Washington to interview the president (Nick Offerman) before the White House falls.
After visually capturing humanity's worst moments, Lee is as world-weary and jaded as one can be. But after saving aspiring photographer Jessie (Cailee Spaeny) during a Brooklyn suicide bombing, Lee becomes a reluctant mentor as the young woman worms her way into their crew. Also in the press van: senior journalist Sammy (Stephen McKinley Henderson), hitching a ride to the Western Forces military base in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Most of “Civil War” is an episodic odyssey where Lee and company view the mighty toll taken by this conflict: the graveyard of cars on what’s left of I-95, for example, or how an innocent-looking holiday stop turns deadly courtesy of an unseen shooter. Primarily, however, it’s a disturbing internal examination of what happens when we turn on each other, when weekend warriors take up arms against trained soldiers, or armed neighbors are given a way to do bad things to people they just don’t like.
'You get paid a lot of money': Kirsten Dunst says she's open for another superhero movie
Given its polarizing nature, “Civil War" is actually not that "political." Garland doesn’t explain what led to the secession or much of the historical backstory, and even Offerman’s president isn’t onscreen enough to dig into any real-life inspirations, outside of some faux bluster in the face of certain defeat. (He’s apparently in his third term and dismantled the FBI, so probably not a big Constitutionalist.)
Rather than two hours of pointing fingers, Garland is more interested in depicting the effect of a civil war rather than the cause. As one sniper points out in a moment when Lee and Joel are trying not to die, when someone’s shooting a gun at you, it doesn’t matter what side you’re on or who’s good and who's bad.
The director’s intellectual filmography has explored everything from ecological issues ( “Annihilation” ) to AI advancement ( “Ex Machina” ), and there are all sorts of heady themes at play in “Civil War.” “What kind of American are you?” asks a racist soldier played with a steady, ruthless cruelty by Jesse Plemons (Dunst's husband) in a disturbing scene that nods to an even deeper conflict in society than the one torching this fictionalized version. There's also an underlying sense of apathy that the characters face, with hints that much of the country is just willfully ignoring the conflict because they'd rather not think about it. But this hellish road trip also maintains a sense of hopefulness − via the growing relationship between Lee and Jessie – and is pretty exciting even with its multitude of horrors.
“Civil War” is a thoughtful movie with blockbuster ambitions, and while it does embrace more of a straightforward action flick vibe toward its climactic end, Garland still lands a lasting gut punch. He immerses audiences in the unpredictable nature of war, with gunfire and explosions leaving even the calmest sort on edge, and paints a sprawling canvas of an America forever changed. Thankfully, it’s just a warning and not a promise, using the movie theater as a public service announcement rather than an escape from the real world.

Netflix’s most addictive movie of 2024 is now streaming. Here’s why you need to watch it
Thrillers come in all shapes and sizes. There’s the psychological or serial killer thriller, which was popularized in the ’90s by The Silence of the Lambs and Se7en . There’s the erotic thriller, which had its heyday in the late ’80s and early ’90s with such hits as Fatal Attraction and Basic Instinct . And then there’s the action thriller, which is probably the most popular offshoot of the genre right now, with the Taken series and Salt as prime examples.
The story everyone is after
A tense standoff, a killer cast, more than just an effective thriller.
Recently, there’s been a revival of a subgenre that’s been dormant since the 1970s: the journalism thriller. From Nightcrawler with Jake Gyllenhaal to the Oscar-winning Spotlight to 2022’s She Said, this type of thriller usually centers around journalists pursuing a controversial and sometimes dangerous story. One of the best journalism thrillers has just been released by Netflix : Scoop . In chronicling how the BBC managed to snag the scoop of the decade by interviewing Prince Andrew about his connections to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, the movie manages to be suspenseful, informative, and one of 2024’s most purely entertaining films.
If your memory is foggy, or if you don’t follow royal scandals or the news on a regular basis, here’s the real-life event that Scoop depicts. In late 2019, Prince Andrew was interviewed by British journalist Emily Maitlis about his decades-long relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, a rich American financier who had been convicted of being a sex offender and, that August, had died under mysterious circumstances while in prison.

The interview was aired on the BBC program Newsnight on November 19 and immediately received worldwide attention for Andrew’s odd explanations for his behavior and unwillingness to show any sympathy toward Epstein’s victims. For example, in response to an allegation that he sweated on an underage girl at a dance club, he asserted that he doesn’t sweat, ever , so that couldn’t possibly be true.
The consequences of the interview were devastating for Prince Andrew. After it aired, he was stripped of his royal titles and receded from public view. The royal establishment took yet another public beating, with some wondering why taxpayer money was funding a member who seemingly partook in illegal activities with Epstein and yet didn’t experience any legal ramifications. Almost everyone, both in the U.K. and across the world, asked the same question: why on Earth would someone as private and protected as Prince Andrew agree to such an interview in the first place?
Scoop is a two-hour-long answer to that question. It starts in 2010 in New York City, when an enterprising paparazzo photographs Andrew and Epstein together walking in Central Park, establishing a clear and public link between the two men. That picture is remembered by Sam McAlister (Billie Piper), a talent booker for the BBC, who smells a story developing with Epstein’s ongoing trial, subsequent conviction, and eventual death, which puts pressure on Andrew to address his controversial association with the sex offender.
Scoop presents two sides of the story: the BBC journalists, represented by McAlister, Maitlis (Gillian Anderson), and editor Esme Wren (Romola Garai); and the Royal Family, who, aside from Andrew (Rufus Sewell), is almost entirely run by Amanda Thirsk (Keeley Hawes), who is torn between duty and a gradual realization her boss is a sleazebag.
As we see the two sides circle each other warily, the movie’s director, Philip Martin, never lets up on the tension felt both within the opposing ranks as well as when they intermittently meet to decide on if, when, and how the interview will take place. It’s genuinely thrilling to see McAlister chase her story and for the other journalists to pick up the baton after her part is largely finished. As the interview is set up, Maitlis wryly observes that it feels like she’s going to a gunfight in an old Western movie. And that’s what the interview comes down to: two people facing each other, one armed with facts and the other with a ludicrous defense and a complete lack of awareness that he’s done anything wrong.
This kind of thriller doesn’t work if you don’t have a great cast, which is why Scoop is so effective. Anderson continues to add to her already impressive resume as Maitlis, who has to navigate the fine line between respecting the institution she’s investigating and getting answers to questions everyone in the nation has been asking for years. When Andrew casually wonders why everyone is so interested in his relationship with Epstein when he’s far better friends with Jimmy Savile (a DJ who was also a sex offender), Anderson gives an incredulous look to her producer that’s at once very funny and incredibly revealing. She can’t believe this guy is so delusional about the serious situation he’s in, and she uses that knowledge in her interview to let Andrew symbolically hang himself with his own rope.
It’s Piper, though, who impresses the most as McAlister. Armed with leopard print boots, bottle blonde curls, and a don’t-mess-with-me attitude, she sticks out among her conservative BBC peers, but it’s precisely her outsider status and her willingness to chase after a story when no one else dares to pursue it that makes her such a great character to follow. She’s the only one that Scoop allows us to see at home, where she confides to her mother about wanting to be seen as important and tries to guide her teenage son through the first pangs of romance.
Piper is probably best known in the U.S. for her work as the companion Rose Tyler on Doctor Who , but she’s quietly put together an impressive CV with standout performances in The Secret Diary of a Call Girl , Collateral , and I Hate Suzie . In Scoop , she leads an ensemble with an authority and brassiness that only a star could deliver. Scoop is revelatory in many ways, but perhaps its biggest shock to most audiences is just how good Piper is and how good she’s always been.
Like all good thrillers, Scoop is more than its subject matter. While it faithfully and expertly re-enacts the lead-up to, and quick production of, the interview with Prince Andrew, it also poses intriguing arguments about the state of journalism and the culpability of public figures to own up to their past sins. Everyone knows and respects the BBC, but that doesn’t make it profitable or competitive with other news outlets and social media, and it’s this conundrum — the need for relevance while still preserving a brand of integrity — that drives many of Scoop ‘s characters.
In addition, Scoop is in many ways a sister to Steven Spielberg ‘s The Post and She Said , to other movies about the need for journalism to hold public figures like Richard Nixon, Harvey Weinstein, and yes, the Royal Family, accountable for their actions. It’s not wrong to categorize Scoop as a thriller — its slick direction and propulsive score by Anne Nikitin and Hannah Peel more than supports that justification — but it’s also a great movie about the value and necessity of a free press in the 21st century. Who knew a dramatic retelling of a five-year-old interview could be so thrilling to watch and so rich to think about?
Watch Scoop on Netflix now.

India celebrated its 'golden era' in football, even earning the moniker of 'Brazil of Asia' in the 1950s. During this time, with players like Chuni Goswami, P K Banerjee, Peter Thangaraj, Tulsidas Balaram, Jarnail Singh, and Pradyut Barman, the team ended in fourth place at the 1956 Olympics and won gold at the Asian Games in 1951 and 1962. While they played hard on the turf, Syed Abdul Rahim was the man who created and coached this team.
'Maidaan' , starring Ajay Devgn, aces the job of celebrating the passion and love of 'Rahim saab' towards the sport and how he put India on the world map.
However, the film is not jingoistic or only highlights his big feats - it's more about the roadblocks he faced during his stint. It's about how he fought politics, media animosity, and regional biases to build a team that could fight against the best.
'Maidaan' is about a family that stands by this man's deep passion, asking him to choose football rather than spend his last few months with them. It is about how ' jazbaa ' (enthusiasm) is all that you need to fight the toughest opponents on any field. And when you are 'that' good at what you do, you do win over your naysayers one day.
Director Amit Ravindernath Sharma is used to making 30-second advertisements, and 'Maidaan' gives him a chance to helm something more than 300 times longer. He did falter in the first half of the 180-minute film, as the slow pace tests your patience. However, in the second half, he headbutts it out of the park with an engaging screenplay and some delightful camera work.
Special mention to sports directors of photography, Fyodor Lyass, Tassaduq Hussain, and Christopher Reed. Given football is a sport of movement, probably for the first time, go-pro cameras have been used in a feature film, adding to the nail-biting experience. The matches are gripping and make you cheer for the players and even shed a tear at their failure.
Also, the best biopic or period film is the one that makes you want to Google more about it. 'Maidaan' scores full points with that, as many in the audience were slyly searching more about the players or even the tournaments that Syed Abdul Rahim coached, while in the theatre.
After '83', this film has also struck gold when it comes to casting. The team not only got actors who looked like the original players but also trained them to play like professionals. Chaitanya Sharma aka Slow Cheeta and Amartya Ray stand out as PK Banerjee and Chuni Goswami. So do Davinder Gill and Tejas Ravishankar as Jarnail Singh and Peter Thangaraj, respectively. Priyamani, as Rahim's wife, may have just a few scenes, but her pleasant screen presence and highly expressive face do leave an impact.
Coming to Ajay Devgn , the superstar is on a roll after 'Shaitaan' emerged as a sleeper hit earlier this year. He sheds his 'Singham' personality and embodies the part of the coach so naturally. He is known to emote through his eyes, and he does that in 'Maidaan' so well. Even with a quiet demeanour and subtle personality, he stands his ground with his players and the authorities. The film also allowed him to tap into many shades of a human personality, as Rahim tries to perfect the part of a husband, father, and coach. He is also marvellous in the emotional scenes, especially when he sees the love of his life - football - slipping away from him.
However, we would have to give a yellow card to the dialogue and music department of the film. Apart from the 'Team India' song, none of the AR Rahman compositions really stand out in the film.
Given that sports films are high on adrenaline, we also expected some more dialoguebaazi that could pump things up. There is an SRK-esque '70-minute' coach diktat like 'Chak De', as Rahim talks about the power of 'one' as a team and position in the game. But given Rahim's soft personality, the makers may have chosen to underplay it, keeping things quite non-dramatic.
However, one of the sequences where Ajay's character calls out a senior sports journalist, Roy Choudhury (played brilliantly by Gajraj Rao), and uses Elvis Presley's statement - 'Don't criticise what you don't understand. You never walked in that man's shoes' - did have the theatre whistling.
' Maidaan ' is not only a treat for football enthusiasts but also quite a delight for movie lovers. It immortalises the unsung hero, after whom India never qualified for the Olympics. Rahim, in one scene, says ' Kismat haathon se nahi, pairon se likhi jaati hai (destiny is written by foot, not hands)'. While it was the truth back then, you realise in reality, luck favours the brave, and SA Rahim was truly Indian football's Braveheart.

'Fallout' is coming to Prime earlier than expected: Release date, time, cast, how to watch
The end of the world apparently can't come soon enough.
Amazon had already bumped up the premier date once for its highly anticipated post-apocalyptic series " Fallout ." Now, it has done so again, announcing Monday that the television series based on the popular video game franchise is headed to Prime Video one day earlier than previously announced .
The surprise reveal that "Fallout" would be premiering not Thursday, but Wednesday, came via a late-night post from the show's official page on social media site X.
Start the day smarter. Get all the news you need in your inbox each morning.
The series from " Westworld " creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy of Kilter Films follows a resident of a fallout shelter who emerges 200 years after a nuclear war to explore a ravaged, unrecognizable country. Nolan directed the first three episode of the series, which is helmed by showrunners and writers Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner.
The series is likely to attract viewers who are both veterans of Bethesda's video game series and also new to "Fallout" entirely. Regardless of which camp you fall in, here's what to know about the Prime Video series .

'Fallout' premier date: Time, date of the series release
"Fallout" will debut Wednesday at 9 p.m. Eastern Time.
Walton Goggins, who plays a villainous bounty hunter known only as the Ghoul, revealed the earlier premier date in a video included with the announcement on X.
"As a thank you to all the fans out there, we're giving you the show early," Goggins said.
All eight episodes of "Fallout" will premiere at once in a departure for Prime, which typically releases its series on a weekly schedule.
How to watch 'Fallout' on Amazon Prime
Watching "Fallout" will require a Prime membership. Those without one can sign up for a 30-day free trial, after which a subscription will cost $14.99 per month.
Amazon announced Monday that it is also offering discounted memberships through Prime Access , which is for those who use certain government assistance programs, as well as through Prime Student for those enrolled in higher education.

What is 'Fallout' about?
Bethesda's iconic action role-playing video game franchise never strayed far from the campiness and post-World War II era idealism that has come to define the series through multiple titles.
Like the games, the upcoming series appears to have maintained that influence and tone that sharply contrasts with an otherwise grim setting.
In the world of "Fallout," those with wealth were able to survive a nuclear war in 2077 by taking refuge in bunkers purchased from a company known as Vault-Tec. When one of those survivors, Lucy (Ella Purnell,) leaves the safety of the luxury fallout shelter 200 years later, she finds an irradiated hellscape that was once Los Angeles.

Amazon dropped the official "Fallout" trailer March 7 that provides a glimpse of the menacing world uncovered by Lucy when she heads out into the Wasteland.
In the trailer, Lucy can be seen encountering a few characters, including a soldier named Maximus (Aaron Moten) who is part of a militaristic faction called Brotherhood of Steel, as well as the aforementioned Ghoul. The trailer even provides a glimpse of a dog named CX404 .
"Everyone wants to save the world, they just –" Maximus says in the trailer, "they disagree on how."

'Fallout' cast: Who stars in Amazon's new series?
While Ella Purnell of Showtime's "Yellowjackets" is featured in all eight episodes, she'll encounter a variety of characters both menacing and quirky portrayed by a large cast.

- Aaron Moten as Maximus
- Walton Goggins as The Ghoul
