Social networking sites are serving a crucial role these days in the life of human beings to fill the distance gap between relatives. Nowadays people can connect with the help of these networking sites easily without spending much money. The coming of live video calling facility on these sites is like a big positive point that makes people feel very near to each other. There are scores of social networking sites that are being accessed by people according to their comfort and interest. The ultimate purpose of these sites is to keep in touch with friends and relatives but they are also used these days for business promotion as well. Thus we can say that social networking sites play a great role in various fields of life. How we can see social networking sites as best and worst for society? [Advantages & Disadvantages] Social networking sites are useful to keep people near each other through communicating by using these sites. But at the same time, there are several drawbacks as well which are related to these sites. For example, sometimes various fake people misuse your name and photos in disguise to harm you in every way. People who are interested in making friends online often get trapped in the scams that are made by fake people online on these social sites. At the same time, we can see these sites are proving out to be the wrong medium for communication to the terror groups. But like well said by a philosopher and politician nothing can be harmful and useful completely so is the case with social media and there are many positive points of it. So we cannot consider it purely harmful and useful in a balanced state. What if we ignore connecting with people on social networking sites? There is a point that if someone ignores using social networking sites, he or she can keep him away from the scams and drawbacks of social media. But it is not a relevant solution to stay away from social networking sites and that is too in this scenario where everything is possible on social networking sites. A person who will not show any interest in social media will lose many positive things in his life. Such people fail to build a strong bond with the people in their circle. At the same time, everyone finds them different from society and starts ignoring them. That is why it is very harmful and tragic to maintain a distance from social media for the people.  It is good to accept its reality by adapting to both the positive and negative phases. That is how you can reap the complete benefit of technology and science which is flourishing at every point these days. Buy Customized Essay on Social Networking At Cheapest Price Order Now Social Networking Essay Conclusion From the above arguments and relevant solutions, we can see the importance of social media in human life. If someone is not aware of the use of social networking sites he cannot stay in connection to his near and dear. Today social networking sites are serving a big role in the life of people for developing their business. The lack of awareness about these social sites also keeps you behind in the business advertisement as well. So we can say that one should be able to have access to social networking sites in the present time to flourish one’s business and relations as well. But a good eye should be kept to avoid the fake people and anti-social elements that can put you in trouble through these sites. People who are a newbie to social media should take a good demonstration for having access to their social media accounts from professionals. This is because ignoring social media’s importance means you are directly cutting apart yourself from the world in a real sense. Hire USA Experts for Social Networking Essay Order Now

Social networking has changed the way we communicate, do business, get our daily news fix and so much more. But is it really all it's cracked up to be?

That depends on who you talk to and how you're using it. A site like Facebook could serve as an opportunistic launching pad for a new business owner, or it could be an inescapable source of negative peer pressure for a young teen. There are pros and cons to everything in life—and that includes our social networking habits.

The Pros of Social Networking

There are a lot of upsides to social networking. Ask yourself how you can take more advantage of the following whenever you decide to check out your favorite social networks.

Connect to Other People All Over the World

One of the most obvious pros of using social networks is the ability to instantly reach people from anywhere. Use Facebook to stay in touch with your old high school friends who've relocated all over the country, use Google Meet to connect with relatives who live halfway around the world, or meet brand new people on social media from cities or regions you've never even heard of before.

Easy and Instant Communication

Now that we're connected wherever we go, we don't have to rely on our landlines, answering machines or snail mail to contact somebody. We can simply open up our laptops or pick up our smartphones and immediately start communicating with anyone on social media or one of the many social messaging apps available.

Real-Time News and Information Discovery

Gone are the days of waiting around for the six o'clock news to come on TV or for the delivery boy to bring the newspaper in the morning. If you want to know what's going on in the world, all you need to do is jump on social media. An added bonus is that you can customize your news and information discovery experiences by choosing to follow exactly what you want.

Great Opportunities for Business Owners

Business owners and other types of professional organizations can connect with current customers, sell their products and expand their reach using social media. There are actually lots of entrepreneurs and businesses out there that thrive almost entirely on social networks and wouldn't even be able to operate without it.

General Fun and Enjoyment

You have to admit that social networking is just plain fun sometimes. A lot of people turn to it when they catch a break at work or just want to relax at home. Since people are naturally social creatures, it's often quite satisfying to see comments and likes show up on our own posts, and it's convenient to be able to see exactly what our friends are up to without having to ask them directly.

The Cons of Social Networking

It's no secret that there's also a dark side to social networking. You may want to ask yourself how you can minimize the following cons of social networking as much and as often as possible.

If social media is your primary source for news and other information, you could end up in a filter bubble, which is when you've isolated yourself from new information and engaging with people who have different perspectives. If you've managed to stay in a bubble of harmful misinformation, it can damage relationships and even be dangerous.

Information Overload and Overwhelm

With so many people now on social media tweeting links and posting selfies and sharing YouTube videos, it sure can get pretty noisy. Becoming overwhelmed by too many Facebook friends to keep up with or too many Instagram photos to browse through isn't all that uncommon. Over time, we tend to rack up a lot of friends and followers, and that can lead to lots of bloated news feeds with too much content we're not all that interested in.

Privacy Issues

So much is shared online these days that issues over privacy are becoming an increasingly big concern. Whether it's a question of social sites owning your content after it's posted, becoming a target after sharing your location online , or even getting in trouble at work after tweeting something inappropriate — sharing too much with the public can open up all sorts of problems that sometimes can't ever be undone.

Social Peer Pressure and Cyber Bullying

For people struggling to fit in with their peers — especially teens and young adults — the pressure to do certain things or act a certain way can be even worse on social media than it is at school or any other offline setting. In some extreme cases, the overwhelming pressure to fit in with everyone posting on social media or becoming the target of a cyberbullying attack can lead to serious stress, anxiety and even depression.

Increased Feelings of Social Isolation

Since people are now connected all the time and you can pull up a friend's social profile with a click of your mouse or a tap of your smartphone, it's a lot easier to use online interaction as a substitute for face-to-face interaction. Some people argue that social media actually promotes antisocial human behavior.

Distraction and Procrastination

How often do you see someone look at their phone? People get distracted by all the social apps and news and messages they receive, leading to all sorts of problems like distracted driving or the lack of gaining someone's full attention during a conversation. Browsing social media can also feed procrastination habits and become something people turn to in order to avoid certain tasks or responsibilities.

Sedentary Lifestyle Habits and Sleep Disruption

Lastly, since social networking is all done on some sort of computer or mobile device, it can sometimes promote too much sitting down in one spot for too long. Likewise, staring into the artificial light from a computer or phone screen at night can negatively affect your ability to get a proper night's sleep.

What is social media essay, how do you write a social media essay, structure of social media essay, various tones of a social media essay, incorporate an attractive topic.

As you know, an social media essay is a piece of writing that is used to introduce an essential topic to the world with its underlying advantages and disadvantages. These aspects are driven solely by facts and should not contain the opinions of the writers. It is drafted to give others a better understanding of the subject in hand.

No matter which subject it pertains to, an essay ends with a conclusion where the writers are permitted to give their opinion after weighing the advantages and disadvantages.

Similarly, a social media essay is written to appreciate the positive aspects and highlight the negative impacts of social media in this time and day. The conclusions include the analysis of the two elements by the writers in their own lives and give an open-ended point of view. Depending upon the essay writer or paper writing service , the decision can be decisive, too, but that is not encouraged.

Today, the use of social networks, whether it is Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, or LinkedIn, has increased exponentially. An average millennial spends 2 hours and 58 minutes per day on social media platforms like Facebook. While some say that the platform is super-informative, others argue that all the information gathered on this platform is trivial and doesn't justify long hours invested in the use of social media.

The above arguments make using social media by individuals with a debatable issue, and this is why a lot of students are required to write an essay on social media. So, here are some incredible tips to help you out in writing an essay on social media even if you don't have marketing skills .

A classic essay consists of 3 parts – the introduction, main body, and the conclusion.

  • The Introduction

As you introduce the main topic, always begin with how it is relevant to the current scenario. You can do this by providing some background information. The information can be made richer by adding some reliable stats and data . Once you have established the topic, you need to give a strong thesis statement of the hypothesis on which your essay is based.

The thesis statement in your essay should be precise and debatable. If not, the arguments that you are going to put forward in the essay would make no sense.

The main body of your text should consist of logical arguments in relevance to your hypothesis. Make sure you put forward one statement in one paragraph and start a new one with another section. This will make your essay look more organized.

Also, when developing ideas, only include the ones you can write clearly about. If not, avoid them. Make sure that the essay develops coherently.

To conclude the essay about social media, bring back your hypothesis, and state how the aspects you discussed earlier support or nullify it. Make it a point to summarize all ideas, but do not start adding more ideas when you are about to conclude. You can now give an, ideally, open end to your essay.

A great conclusion is the one that provokes thought and will make your readers question the use of social media in their everyday lives.

Also, remember that essays do not have to include pros and cons always. They can either be full of pros or cons or both, depending upon your hypothesis. Just ensure they are relevant.

You might believe that an essay is an essay, and two of them would be similar, but that's a misconception. Different essays have varying tones depending on how the author is treating the thesis statement through the main body of the text. Here are a few examples of essays on social media in different tones.

  • Sample of a Persuasive Essay

If you are asked to write an academic paper about the effects of social media on the mental health of teenagers and young adults, you should make it persuasive. For this, just writing about the topic is not enough. It would help if you had an impactful thesis, followed by powerful arguments to support or question your theory.

The perils associated with social media addiction are forcing parents and "grown-ups" to throw their benefits in bad light today. In the race to become best in academics and non-academic activities, people are losing their grip on how social networks bring people together. They empower individuals with knowledge about various cultures and languages, which might not have been possible otherwise.

Social media sites can be addictive, and students might waste their formative years scrolling through the trivial feed and gain nothing but superficial knowledge. But that is just because neither parents nor the school is encouraging positive social media behavior. If these institutions start offering tips to students to limit and utilize their time on social media , one would be amazed to see their achievements.

Is social media a catalyst for the downfall of student life? Well, social media sites like Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, and more are teeming with inspirational achievers and content creators who go the extra mile to share their stories and inspire students. If the children are taught to see their access to social media as an opportunity to grow rather than a competition for likes and followers, they are bound to work harder and achieve goals that seemed insurmountable earlier.

  • Sample of Negative Essay about social media

If you have been asked to highlight the negative aspects of social media, your teacher does not mean that you have to cross all limits to present the use of social media in a bad light. Instead, what they are asking for is some logical and believable arguments that tell us why social media is harmful to society.

Social media is destroying family links by creating a virtual shell for each individual, which dissociates them with their own parents and siblings. The kids are adversely affected by increased access to social media if parents are always indulged in their devices and ignore them. Eventually, even kids start using tools to connect to other people, ignoring their family members.

Since kids and teenagers are the most impressionable age groups, they start believing that everything that glitters on social media platforms is gold, and they become materialistic. Their lives start revolving around likes, comments, and followers/subscribers. No matter whether their minds are prepared for such exposure or not, social media exposes them to the best and the worst about this world, which might turn them into rebels. They start valuing their online friends more than their offline lives and go to unimaginable extents to keep them entertained.

So, parents and elders need to pay attention to their children and limit their social media use so that they can learn to form real relationships and values.

  • Weighing the pros and cons

Another way in which you can present your social media essay is by comparing the positive and negative aspects associated with it. In such essays, the conclusion is better left open for the readers to decide their own take on social media.

One cannot argue that social media has taken the world by storm by allowing like-minded individuals to connect and share their experiences with the world. You can use these platforms to make new friends and discover the ones who have lost touch. You can talk to everyone on your friend list and share your content on these channels to become a part of the creators' community. There is no dearth for talent on social media and its admirers.

On the other hand, if you use social media sites for long stretches of time in one go, you run the risk of addiction. Gradually, a social media addict starts to build a cocoon for themselves, which they find hard to step out of. This leads to a disconnect between you and the family you already have and love. One might feel too confined yet comfortable in their space that they have no urge left to step out, pushing them towards social seclusion, or worse – depression.

When you flip the coin again, you will discover that social media has become an incredible platform for small businesses to grow and earn good profits . The grass-root companies do not have to invest much for advertising and promotion or even own an establishment. All they have to do is to create a grassroots marketing strategy for themselves, and their brand will start selling in no time!

In the end, social media is a game-changer on the World Wide Web. It allows people to connect with the virtual world with the risk of disconnecting with the real world. Then again, businesses are doing well on these platforms. There are indeed two sides to social media, one positive and another negative, and it is up to you which one you lean towards more.

  • Argumentative social media essay

A challenging but equally exciting type of essay on social media you should know about is an argumentative essay. It is often written when you are tasked with altering the point of view of the reader, which is of a completely opposite belief. Here is a sample for your better understanding.

Social networks have an uncertain future with the string impression they leave on users, especially the younger generations. Parents panic with the first mention of social media sites by their children and learning about their presence on these platforms because they are afraid of cyberbullying. They do not want their children to get cat-fished by some stranger on Reddit when they are not around.

Moreover, social media platforms are the reason why several individuals are losing their confidential data every day to corporate houses. These businesses are using the information to bug users with ads about stuff they do not want to buy.

If such instances carry on, the day is not far when the government will start to keep checks on the likes of Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and other channels. Massive surveillance will be imposed on these sites to prevent malicious minds from harming innocent teenagers physically or by hacking into their systems. So, before you get a chance to ask " have I been hacked ", know that someone is taking care of it.

Having an attractive topic for your social media essay does not mean using poetic words in it. You should have an issue relevant to the current scenario. In the process of selecting a fascinating topic, do not forget to keep it within the extents of your knowledge. If it becomes too complicated for you to write about, you will be stuck when coming up with arguments and ideas.

The perfect topic would be the one which offers good potential for research and is interesting for the readers too. Even if you present profound arguments about such topics, they should be in a logical, comprehensible, and readable format for people to understand easily.

Writing a social media essay is no cakewalk, whether you are a high-school student or university student. All you need to do is, structuralize it properly, be clear with the ideas and arguments you are planning to present, pick the tone of your essay, and began writing. Do not forget to top your essay up with a catchy topic so that your entire hard work doesn't fall flat.

Social Networks’ Advantages and Disadvantages

It is not easy to imagine the modern world without computers, information technologies, and the Internet because they have already managed to occupy a special place in every person’s life. Networks have given people the opportunity to communicate potential that was not there before (Miller et al., 2016). Social networks are prevalent, but they have their advantages and disadvantages. The benefit of social networks includes the ability to communicate with work colleagues, relatives, and friends living in different cities and countries and make new acquaintances. In addition, social networks are a platform for business development, as they provide an opportunity to find new customers here and increase the loyalty of regular customers.

In addition to the advantages, social networks undoubtedly have several disadvantages. One of the most significant drawbacks is that people become addicted to social networks, spend substantial time in them, and forget about real life. Moreover, a large amount of information that is not scientific or simply correct remains in people’s memory, which can eventually lead to a decrease in mental abilities and incorrect knowledge.

Despite the existing shortcomings, people continue to use social networks and improve their accounts actively. As a result, this has led to the growing popularity of social networks, and some employers are carefully examining an employee by viewing their pages. Employers are interested in personal information because they seek to determine what their employees do in their free time, whether they have pessimistic tendencies, and who is in their social circle. Moreover, the employer can find out how competent employees are in their state. After reading the comments or posts, it will immediately become clear how literate people are, whether they know how to present themselves and whether they are well-read. Any aspect that may be related to work in one way or another will be of interest to any employer.

Maintaining complete confidentiality in social networks is complicated since this is precisely the information that other people are trying to find. However, there are several options for solving the privacy problem. One of the options is to restrict access to personal pages (Kumar et al., 2016). That is, the user can enable a function that will allow viewing the page only to those people who will be given access.

Social Networks Benefits and Disadvantages Response Essay

The emergence of social networking has caused mixed opinions among the researchers and sociologists. On the one hand, online communication can have serious consequences for teenagers who waste their time on sitting in front of their monitors and communicating online with other teenagers.

There is also a threat of teenagers using inappropriate sites and information and, therefore, parents can control less their education and upbringing. On the other hand, social networking contributes to greater connection and socialization with people all over the world and advancement of literacy, business activities, and communication skills.

What is more important, today’s social networks are frequently used for business purposes, such as selecting candidates for a job and exploring new media means for information exchange. In this respect, Havenstein’s article called One in Five Employers Uses Social Networks in Hiring Process reveals benefits of using online profiles.

Similarly to Havenstein’s overview, Blow discusses the implications and analysis of A Profile of Online Profile that contribute to psychological and sociological analyses of individuals. Like the two previously characterized articles, Lewin singles out advantages of using social networks for increasing communication and literacy skills (n. p.). In total, all the authors apply to technology and statistics to present the outcomes of their observations.

The articles under consideration prove that the use of social networks allows participants to carry out a psychological analysis and define a profile of a person socializing on the Internet. In particular, most people take advantage of online profile to toss out the candidates for a particular job.

Using such characteristics as profile pictures, photo examination, personal information, qualifications, and confidential data, managers can judge on the appropriateness of the tentative employee for a particular position (Havenstein n. p.). A psychological analysis is also possible to underscore other parameters such as gender, communication, lying, and purposes, as it has been presented by Blow (n. p.).

Specifically, the author provides several deductions from the information presented on the profile pages of the online users to define certain regularities and implications for personal analysis (Blow n. p.).

Finally, although Levin in his article called Teenagers’ Internet Socializing Not a Bad Thing does not provide psychological portfolio of teenagers, yet his suggestions about the positive contributions of social networks are also based on the examination of different online profiles. In general, all the articles provide valuable information on multi-facet application and utilization of social networks and online communication.

It should be stressed that both Havenstein and Lewin provide the readers with positive aspects and benefits of applying to information presenting within virtual space. To an extent, Blow also discloses positive implications for communicating online, but with less emphasis placed on specific characteristics.

Hence, Havenstein outlines positive outcomes that can be drawn from the overview of candidate’s profile information, which are specifically useful for managers because they will have to spend less time on interviewing the candidates whose profile does not fit the requirements (n. p.).

The same benefits are also disclosed by Lewin who focuses on the positive contributions social networking makes for teenagers (n. p.). The researcher’s emphasis on communication skills, exploration of new media and software programs as well as enhancement of literacy skills is appropriate for providing the favorable influence of the Internet on education and development of contemporary teenagers.

Despite the fact that Blow approaches this issue in a more neutral way, the observations in general have a positive impact on evaluating the significance of social networks in life of the globalized community.

It should be stressed that successful communication is the basic condition for creating a favorable environment within society. Therefore, social networking is a contributing factor to this sphere of human relations.

As such, all the articles touch upon the value of online socialization as far as the globalization process is concerned. Hence, according to Havenstein, most of the company managers rely on virtual profiles of the applicants to select those that fit perfectly certain requirements (n. p.).

They can establish contact with their candidatures online and check the level of their competency as well as communication skills. Similarly to Havenstein, Levin accentuates on the importance of social networks with specific reference to online communication that widens the experience of teenagers and deepens their comprehension of specific social situations (n. p.).

Finally, Blow also discloses the importance of interaction via virtual media because it contributes to better psychological cognition of personal skills of individuals. In addition, it is possible to admit that Blow evaluates the examined phenomenon not as the scope of communication but as the outcomes of socialization and interaction (n. p.).

The findings the scholar has received indicate what assumptions can be made while communicating online. One way or another, the articles prove the significance of virtual space for enhancing relations between people all over the world, irrespective of their culture, location, and preferences.

Finally, while pursing a specific goal in their studies, all authors rely on statistical analysis and usage of technologies for receiving results.

Presence of ratios, percentage, diagrams, and charts indicate the depths of their researchers and underscore the accuracy and validity of the presented findings. Specifically, Havenstein refers to CareerBuilder.com to produce the assumptions and analyze the influence of online communication on business activities (n. p.).

Lewin gives credit the study conducted by MacArthur Foundation to present observations and conclusions about positive impact of distant socialization (n. p.). Like the previous two, Blow also applies to a sophisticated analysis of numerical data to single out qualitative findings.

It should also be noted that all the authors attain great importance to statistics and emphasize its relevance for the discussed problem. In fact, technology and internet are closely intertwined because the Internet is the outcome of technological advancement that contributes to further development of online devices.

Therefore, the usage of specific software and other technologies has a strong popularity among the usages of virtual space because it promotes further study of the problem in question.

In conclusion, all the articles are closely interconnected in terms of the psychological analysis of online profiles, benefits and positive outcomes of socializing through existing social networks, using technologies for analyzing data.

All the articles have been presented in a publicist style because they are destined for newspaper readers. Authors expose information in a clear and easy way for wide audience to understand the scope of their research. In addition, the articles have emphasized the importance of using technological devices as an inherent component of online era.

Moreover, the articles have sufficient implications for further analysis of beneficial aspects of using distant socialization for outlining perspectives of development in the sphere of education. Finally, the writing style of the articles is also worth noting because all texts are reminiscent in terms of logical representation, readability, and analysis of outcomes.

19 Advantages and Disadvantages of Social Networking Sites

We have come a long way in a short amount of time in the world of social network. With billions of active profiles, Facebook is a dominant force in the lives of many. The average person spends almost an hour of their time every day on their preferred social platforms. We also have LinkedIn, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, and several niche options from which to choose.

The first website which could be called a social network debuted in 1997, and it was called Six Degrees. Offered to the public two years before blogging really took off, this site was the first one to allow profiles and the chance to become “friends” with other users.

We used to think of people who used social networking as geeks and nerds. It was only for those who wanted to “flaunt” their technical knowledge. Now society sees people who shun these websites as being out of touch with reality.

If you’re thinking about joining a platform for the first time or you want to justify keeping your profile, these are the social networking pros and cons to evaluate.

List of the Pros of Social Networking

1. Social networking can lead to real-life networking. When you start sharing messages with people through your preferred social networks, then this can lead to new interactions in real life. It offers people a way to get to know one another on a personal level before a planned meeting or event. You can do research on their past, look at their work history, or any other data points they’re willing to share before you have a face-to-face encounter.

Although this benefit can also be dangerous for some groups, for professionals looking to build a network in real-life, this advantage is one that is a challenge to ignore.

2. It increases voter participation. Social networking increases the desire to go out and vote. This effect was seen as early as the 2010 national elections in the United States, where social “get out the vote” messages helped to generate almost 350,000 additional votes. The people who were most influenced to vote came from posts and suggestions from close friends who were already participating in their civic duty.

3. Social networking reduces feelings of loneliness. Older adults and entrepreneurs are at an increased risk of experiencing isolation, loneliness, and depression because of their living situation. The elderly is the most at-risk when they must move into a different type of care community from their independent living. Using a social network helps each group maintain their social ties, making it beneficial to use this platform to feel more connected to family and friends. Social networking creates an improvement in the quality of communication received from others too.

4. It acts as an effective communication tool during crisis situations. One public post can quickly reach millions, if not billions, of people when there is a crisis situation developing. Facebook introduced a safety feature which allows people to mark themselves as “safe” during a man-made or natural disaster, including terror-related incidents. These platforms can also be useful in sending out proactive information about emergencies, Amber alerts, and other critical data that would normally be presented during a broadcast of the Emergency Alert System. This benefit makes it possible to improve public health and safety on a broad scale.

5. Social networking helps to diffuse social stigmas. A 2013 effort to share personal experiences with mental illnesses has developed into a platform which generated over 12,000 pledges in just one year to help people when needed. The hashtag #IWillListen inspired colleges to have headphone-free days, honest conversations about finding help, and resource distribution to those who may need it. Many of the stigmas and biases people have today come from misinformation. Social networks are often criticized for distributing fake news, but it can also be useful as a tool that helps people see how others sometimes struggle through life.

6. It can be useful in the fight against increasing suicide rates. The U.S. military went to their social networks in 2016 to combat the number of suicides in military ranks. The rate of about 20 per 100,000 troops is more than double what it was before the attacks on 9/11/01 in New York City, Washington, D.C., and rural Pennsylvania. By paying attention to what veterans and active-duty service members post on social media, we can recognize the warning signs of suicide and intervene.

When examining the social media posts of individuals who committed suicide for 30 days before their death, those who take their lives write updates about relationship issues, generalized stress, and less overall anger compared to their previous posts.

7. Social networking can help people find new jobs. Did you know that up to 80% of all job openings in any given year are never advertised? That happens because these positions go to someone who already knows somebody else. Connecting to employers, past associates, or even family on a platform like LinkedIn makes it possible to access this hidden job market. Talent communities allow you to prove through the use of endorsements that you have the necessary skills to fill an open position. This process creates an opportunity where an interested employer might approach you for an interview because your profile looks too good to ignore.

8. It is useful as a marketing tool. Anyone can use social networking as a form of marketing. Even academic institutions use this platform to promote their research and information gleaned from experiments or clinical studies. It offers access to a community with transformative powers, making it possible to reach new audiences or connect with unique demographics that would normally not be available from a traditional centralized distribution point. It is a way to inform interested parties about what is going on along every step of the process, including an offer of help to the faculty involved as they examine issues and seek feedback.

9. Social networking can be an enormous fundraiser. Crowdfunding through social media can help people find the money they require for specific situations that were not available to them before. This design makes it possible for people to get more involved, helping households raise the amount of money they contribute to charitable causes each year. 72% of homes donate less than average, yet 75% of people think they give the same or more like the average person in the United States as a percentage of their household income.

10. It allows you to be yourself. People who are more grounded with authentic values as humans are less likely to be heavy users of social media. They’re also less likely to be negatively affected by their use of it. If you find yourself trying to be someone that you’re not, then this vulnerability is easy to correct. Abstain from using any of these platforms for at least a week. Remove the apps from your mobile device. Then you can come back to be yourself once again.

List of the Cons of Social Networking

1. It creates content which cannot be entirely deleted. If you decide that something you wish to share on your social networking site sends the wrong message, it may be too late to delete the post. People can share your post while it is live, take screenshots of it to send to their networks, and verify its existence in other ways too. With facial recognition software improving, even those who separate their professional lives from their personal activities will discover that these links continue on indefinitely. Those posts, if they are found to be offensive, could stop you from getting a job – even if the information is several years old.

Kevin Hart had this happen to him as host of the Oscars because of tweets he shared in 2009-2011 that included vulgarity toward people in the LGBTQIA+ community.

2. Social networking can endanger the lives of people. Activists, journalists, and active-duty military members all have their lives placed at-risk because of the structure of social networks. Instant news updates require these professionals to discuss information before being properly vetted. Insurgents use these platforms to publicize their causes, which promotes radicalism on a global scale. People who have a reputation for sharing critical information have become high-value targets in the modern battlefield, making it easier than ever before to inadvertently venture into dangerous situations.

3. It creates an association with depression with frequent use. In a survey of almost 1,800 adults between the ages of 19-32, researchers asked about social media use and depressions. Participants for the survey were recruited through addressed-based sampling and random digit dialing. People who fell into the highest quartile of social media use had a significantly increased risk of depression when compared to those in the lowest group. About 90% of young adults use social media, with most checking their profiles at least once per day. Up to 20% of the time spent on a personal computer involves social networking of some type.

4. Social networking can lower productivity levels and academic performance. Students who use social networks heavily have an increased risk of lower grades when compared to those who don’t use them as much. This impact extends to college studies. The average GPA of heavy users of these networks between the ages 19-54 was 3.06, but non-users of social networking had an average GPA of 3.82. The reason for this is that social networking encourages a high volume of task switching, which requires people to take more time to go through materials than less time. There’s always something available to distract a mind that is bored.

5. It can increase feelings of inferiority. The average Facebook user today has 338 friends, with the median number coming to about 200. About half of all users have 200 or more friends. 15% have a list which tops 500. What does that mean for someone who has a friends list below 100? It may increase their feelings of inferiority. When there are high-risk elements for mental health or suicidal ideation, then comparisons such as these can reinforce those feelings. Even the perception that other lives are “more perfect” than one’s own, no matter what the size of a friend’s list happens to be, can increase these risks.

6. Social networking is useful for criminals. If you post on your social networks information which allows people to know that you’re away from home, then criminals understand that your place is susceptible to a burglary attempt. Recording video during altercations encourages a form of “street policing” in some of America’s largest cities. Even bragging about gang violence can promote additional confrontations. Rivalries form on social media, evolve into real life, and then place the lives of others at risk. Preventing oversharing is not enough to reduce this disadvantage. The only way to absolutely stop this issue is to stay off of social media.

7. It takes a lot of time. Social networking will take you down the rabbit hole and never let you return if you permit it. Between the cat videos, memes, and various status updates of friends and family, people spend most of their days anymore interacting with media instead of each other. American adults spend over 11 hours per day with a screen, with 30% of their online time involving a social network of some type. The average person spends 35 minutes on Facebook, 25 minutes on Snapchat, and 40 minutes on YouTube.

That means you’ll spend over 5 years of your life interacting on social media. That’s more time than you’ll spend eating, doing laundry, or socializing in real life. The only thing that you’ll do more than be on social media is watching TV or sleeping.

8. Social networking invades our privacy. How many cookies are on your computer right now? Although most browsers place limits on the number of cookies that come from one website, these benign files can impact your privacy. They also take up space on your computer. That information can then be used by your social networking platforms to offer targeted advertising which encourages additional spending. If you use a browser like Safari, you can always block cookies and website data to protect your privacy, but if you do, then the functionality of the sites you visit offers new limitations that are equally frustrating.

9. It may lead to an increase in narcissism. People compare themselves to others on social media, even when positive messages of self-empowerment are available. That means those who have a lot of followers and popularity also think more highly of themselves. There is a direct link to a rise in narcissism in today’s youth with the use of social networks. Only YouTube shows a positive impact on mental health. Every other platform can create issues with bullying, self-harm, and even health issues like ADHD in youth.

These social networking pros and cons make it possible to look at our personal habits to see what we can improve. We must remember that the use of Facebook, Twitter, and other platforms is a tool which is useful to the greater good if that is our priority. It can also become a toxic place where only the disadvantages are found. It is up to each of us to remember that what we say and share matters.

This generation's language is undoubtedly social media – we all live and breathe our online presence, and these social platforms are its foundation. With multiple social media channels such as YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, WhatsApp, and Snapchat in the running, there is no end to what social media can do. However, this statement holds for both positive and negative effects of the medium.

Social Media definitely has a positive side as well for the people using it. One of the most significant advantages, or probably the reason why the concept was created, was to communicate. Social media helps us contact/stay in touch with people we love, celebrities who we admire, or connect with new individuals. Another advantage of social media is that it can be used as a powerful tool to educate others. Nowadays, every piece of information or detail you may need is a click away, and social media promotes the same availability of knowledge. Additionally, you can use social media as a tool to market your brand or company as the platforms are quickly turning into a massive hub for advertisements.

With these advantages, social media also poses many cons/disadvantages. Despite it being the perfect medium for sharing information – your moods and whereabouts to people–you are also susceptible to privacy issues and hackers. Many social media users also face the ill effects of these platforms through cyberbullying, which leads to mental health issues and even greater cases of suicides in the present generation. Furthermore, various reports also entail that overusing social media can even hamper students' academic performance since they waste their precious time on these applications.

Thus, these set of advantages and disadvantages together highlight it is best to use social media in moderation and avail its benefits in a balanced manner.

Yes, social media has many advantages and disadvantages in the present world. Even though social media was created for the betterment of the social relationships in the world, it is the cause of many people ruining their health and others. The best way to deal with social media is to understand its pros and cons and look at your relationship with these applications.

Talking about the positives of using social media, it is the best way to get the latest updates and news about the world. Whether it is about entertainment, politics, or economics, you can get all types of news through social media. If you spend your time on appropriate accounts and platforms, you will also be able to gain knowledge on several topics. The best part of using social media is that you can enjoy the ability to connect with people remotely even if you can't meet them. This was a big benefit in the pandemic era.

Social media has also become a home for fake ids and anonymous accounts that spread hate and negativity. People also hack into other people's accounts, which can cause loss of personal data and identity thefts. Not just that, social media has also lowered human interactions and changed the way we perceive modern human relations. What was thought to be a great way to connect with others has left people lonely and sad.

Social media is both a curse and a boon depending on your use. If you are vigilant enough to maintain a balance, these social media channels should not cause many problems and negative impacts. All in all, it is all about keeping usage in moderation and having a life beyond social media.

200 Words Essay on Advantages and Disadvantages of Social Media

In the modern world, social media plays a significant role in the lives of youth.

Social media has become the latest medium for the common person to stay updated with all trends, be they about lifestyle, education, politics, and so on. Communication with family, relatives, and friends living in another part of the world is no longer a problem, thanks to the easy features like video calling on various apps that social media has brought about. Distance is not a barrier anymore because of social media. Social media is also a great platform for budding, and even established artists to connect with a larger audience and take their talent to the masses, and all this at minimal, rather no costs.

Despite offering some great advantages, social media comes with its own pitfalls, one of major ones being the invasion of privacy. With certain features on the internet and our mobile phones, it is possible for anyone to find out anyone else’s location at a certain point of time. Many times, information once posted or sent cannot be withdrawn. Online interaction with people has also overtaken physical interaction for some, which has led to depletion of social circles, social skills in individuals, and overall social health of communities.

Social media has invaded our lives drastically over the past few years. Children, teenagers, adults, there would hardly be anyone, especially in the common urban population, who does not access social media for some reason or the other. However, like every coin, this one also has two sides. Let us examine the advantages and disadvantages of social media.

Demerits of Social Media

Despite having such distinct advantages, social media comes with its harmful effects. The misuse of social media can have serious repercussions if it is not controlled.

Social media brings an unprecedented invasion of one’s privacy. Children are a target for predators and hackers because of the excessive sharing of personal information that happens through social media. It also results in cyberbullying, which has a tremendous negative impact on students.

A lot of youth are becoming addicted to social media. This may be detrimental to their academic and professional performance, social relations, and overall well-being.

A lot of what people post on social media is only about the ‘good aspects’ of their lives. No one talks about their failures on social media. This often leads children and youth to desire a certain kind of a life which may be unrealistic in nature, and encourage constant comparisons with others, which inturn may lead their overall happiness to deplete.

Social media refers to any online human interaction or information exchange that takes place on a computer, tablet, or mobile device. In light of its benefits and drawbacks, social media should be utilised responsibly. While one should make best use of its offerings, while ensuring that its demerits do not get to us and impact us negatively.

There are pros and cons of using social media

However, there are some disadvantages of using social networks.

Social networks have become the essential part of private and professional life of many people all over the world. Research shows that the most popular sites worldwide are Facebook with 2.38 billion monthly active users, You Tube (2 billion users),WhatsApp (1.6 billion users). Six-ranked photo-sharing app Instagram has 1 billion monthly active accounts. About 2 billion Internet users are using social networks and these figures are expected to grow. The majority of social networks with 100 mln. users originated in America.

One of the most obvious benefits of using social networks is that you can keep in touch with your friends easily, quickly and cheaply. Besides, it’s a good way of making new acquaintances, communicating with people from different countries, discussing various topics, sharing photos and videos. Apart from this, many people use combined profiles in social media for business and private networking. Also, social networks give a great opportunity for many companies to make a market research and to   develop new products   and services. Monitoring social media you get direct and fast access to your customers’ interests, opinions and problems. Social media platforms such as Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter are excellent ways to communicate with customers. Some large international companies are working with project wikis, project blogs and have global virtual teams. They are already using file sharing, collaborative platforms for project teams. Social media are a platform for podcasts and webinars to show your customers how your product works. What is more, finding a job has become easier because employers update pages with the job descriptions and candidates can apply online.

One negative aspect lies in the fact that some teenagers spend so much time online. As a result of it , children suffer from the lack of live communication. They can become Internet addicts. Cyberbullying is a serious problem. According to statistics, about 37% of teenagers between the ages12 and 17 have been bullied online, most of them on the platform of Instagram. The people who experience cyberbullying are at a great risk for suicidal behavior.

Another problem is connected with hackers. They can get into our computers and use personal information for identity theft. We are worried by increasing cases of fraud. Scams are prevalent on popular social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. That is why it is highly recommended not to include your personal data such as your home address or phone number into your public profile. You should check and regularly update privacy settings on your social media accounts.

All in all, we cannot disagree with the fact that social networks made our lives much easier. However, I think that social media will never replace real-life communication. I am convinced that blended networking, the combination of on-line and offline networking, is the way forward.

I agree with the statement: “People should lift their heads from their computer and phone screens and start living life”.

What is Social Media?

Social media are online platforms and applications that allow us to create and share content, and participate in social networking activities. These platforms facilitate the creation and exchange of user-generated content, such as text posts, images, videos, and other multimedia, enabling individuals and groups to connect, communicate , and interact with each other in virtual communities and networks.

Social media platforms have become essential tools for businesses, organizations, and individuals to promote their products, services, and personal brands, as well as to connect with their audiences and communities.

Essay on Advantages and Disadvantages of Social Media in 300 Words

All the hours we spend on social media offer us exposure to the latest trends and activities across the globe. Our traditional way of communication and sharing information has been revolutionized by social media. Everybody agrees that social media platforms offer us information and lessons that we might not be able to grasp from books or experts. But the scale or balance of social media is tilted towards the disadvantages it offers us. This essay on advantages and disadvantages of social media highlights all the aspects.

Advantages of Social Media

  • The advantages of social media include easy and instantaneous communication. It helps people connect with friends, family, and colleagues regardless of geographical barriers.
  • It allows users to share their thoughts, experiences, and ideas with a broader audience, fostering a sense of community and belonging.
  • Social media serves as a platform for networking and professional growth, enabling individuals to connect with potential employers, clients, and business partners.
  • It plays a crucial role in spreading awareness and information. It disseminates news, promotes social causes, and raises awareness about important issues.

Disadvantages of Social Media

With all the advantages of social media listed above, it also brings certain disadvantages.

  • Misleading and fake information is one of the major disadvantages of social media. This can have serious consequences, including the spread of misinformation during crises or the manipulation of public opinion.
  • Excessive use of social media can lead to addiction and negative impacts on mental health.
  • Constant exposure to curated and often idealized versions of others’ lives can contribute to feelings of inadequacy and low self-esteem.
  • It can also lead to decreased productivity and social isolation, as some users may prioritize virtual interactions over real-life relationships.
  • Another concern is privacy issues and data breaches. We as users share personal information, making us vulnerable to data breaches and invasions of our privacy. This can lead to identity theft and other cybercrimes, posing significant risks to users’ security and well-being.

Short Essay on Advantages and Disadvantages of Social Media

No matter how many hours or minutes you spend on social media every day, if you have an online account, where your details are stored, it is likely to be compromised. Every day we hear news about data breaches. In 2020, the Indian Government banned more than 270 mobile apps citing security reasons.

Social media serves as a powerful platform for disseminating information and raising awareness about various issues. It provides a space for professionals to connect with like-minded individuals and potential employers. It offers businesses a cost-effective way to promote their products and services to a global audience.

At individual and government levels, everybody wants their data to be protected. From security concerns to mental health problems, social media brings a lot of disadvantages, which we often ignore. That is why the ‘Digital Personal Data Protecting Act’ passed by the Government of India ensures user safety and grants rights to data principals. This includes the right to know what personal data is processed, the right to data deletion, and the right to correct or update inaccurate personal data.

Paragraph on Social Media

Here are some of the popular advantages of social media: Enhanced Connectivity with friends, family, and acquaintances from all around the world; Dissemination of information and raising awareness about various issues; Space for professionals to connect with like-minded individuals; It offers businesses a cost-effective way to promote their products, etc.

Here are some of the disadvantages of social media: Cybercriminals carry out various online scams and phishing attacks; Addiction and Time Wastage; Negative Impact on Mental Health, etc.

To write an essay on the advantages and disadvantages of social media, you need to describe what social media is, and how it has revolutionized our ways of communication, disseminates news, promotes social causes, and raises awareness about important issues. Apart from its advantages, describe its disadvantages, such as security issues, cyberbullying and online harassment, addition and time wastage, etc.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Social Networking Essay

One of the key attributes amongst living things is communication. There are many ways for humans to communicate, whether it is face to face, telegrams, snail mail, texting, et cetera. The form of communication that has rapidly increased over the years is social networking sites, such as Facebook, Twitter, MySpace , Google Plus, et cetera. In fact, according to Pew Internet, as of 2012, eighty-one percent of teenagers who use the Internet are using it for social networking sites (Madden et al.). Furthermore, as of May 2013, seventy-two percent of adults who are online are social networking sites users, which is five percent higher than a year ago and sixty-four percent higher than where it was in February 2005 (Brenner and Smith). There is a fear of someone hacking into a person’s account and steal valuable information of said person to use for malicious purposes, such as identity theft, for instance. If the wrong person is successful in stealing another person’s information, the results could be potentially devastating for the victim. Another con of using social networking sites is that it can be addictive if someone spends too much time on them. This could have dire consequences if students are spending too much time chatting with their friends on Facebook, an employee playing games on social networking sites instead of working on productivity reports, just to name a couple of scenarios. There is even a possibility of someone incurring health problems, such as sleep deprivation, joint problems, and blurry vision, just to name a few examples, from spending too much time on social networking sites. A potential setback to spending too much time on social networking sites is that if people – especially teenagers – engage in hypernetworking (spending more than three hours a day on social networking sites, such as Facebook or MySpace), it could lead to some dangerous vices, such as smoking, binge drinking, other illicit drugs use, et cetera; at least this is true according to Scott Frank, the lead researcher of the study conducted by the Case Western Reserve School of Medicine (Payne). However, there does not appear to be any evidence that hypernetworking is the direct cause of such

Social Media And Its Impacts On Communication

A social networking website is an online platform that allows users to create a public profile and interact with other users on the website. Facebook has even changed our most personal and private conversations and how they are conducted around the world. Since the internet’s birth in 1983, this trend of online communication has been growing. Created in 2004, now registered with more than one billion participants, Facebook’s user numbers surpass even the top four social networking websites combined. According to Wikipedia statistics, Instagram has 300 million registered users, LinkedIn has 200 million users, Classmates.com has 50 million users, and Flickr has 32 million registered users. To be further convinced of the claim that Facebook indeed changes the way we communicate, you would only need to create your own Facebook account and start participating in their social networking experience. Technology and internet usage is fused into every aspect of our society including the style of communication. The launch of Facebook in 2006 also enabled other devices such as touch phones, interactive tablets, and even advanced cars with their own networking capabilities starting in 2007. As a result of this new development, Facebook, Twitter, and similar services are becoming the most visited destinations on the internet. Everything has its advantages and its disadvantages. Social networking sites are no exception. We live in a time when technology has reached such heights that no aspect of life is complete without it .Social networking sites are that innovation of technology that makes this huge world of our look small.

Essay Contest for UPSC Exam for IAS

Beginning with the advantages of the various social networking sites such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and various others; these give us a platform to express our thoughts and share it with billions of people out there, know their views and interact with them. No matter how many miles apart it makes us feel close to the ones sitting on the other end of the screen. It makes distance look nothing but just a word. Apart from communication between people it also gives us an opportunity to get various information about the people or celebrities we admire .It makes us feel closer to the ones we idolise. Often it makes us come in contact with long lost friends' .Social networking sites also are seen as a get away from the daily stressful monotonous life that many lead. A blessing for the man who can't get frequent holidays to meet his dear ones and whose day starts and ends in front of the computer screen at his workplace. Many people cannot afford to travel the world like others can ,but the pictures shared on social networking sites makes them feel a lot less sad about that. Social networking sites have been the place to discuss issues that are international, national, local and have time and again attracted attention of concerned authorities which is a great advantage.

Moving on to the disadvantage part of the social networking site. First and foremost it makes life so easy that it makes us lazy. Kids these days prefer "chatting" over playing games. They are always glued to their phones and computers socializing .They forget that there is a world beyond. Outdoor games become secondary for these tech savvy kids who trying to cope up with this changing world lose their childhood to some gadgets .Social networking sites as mentioned earlier gives us a platform to express our views ,but often they take a nasty turn and becomes a controversy. Not only that one has to be extremely careful about what he shares and with who he shares cause a few number of times we come across cases or should i say crimes in news channel which have had their initiations on social networking sites .It becomes very easy to access someone's personal information and use it to the persons disadvantage. It is such case that makes us question the safety of these social networking sites. Also these sites on a number of occasions are used to instigate people on a certain issue as they provide a wide platform and a lot of independence which also makes us question the amount of independence the sites provide and whether there should be some kind of restrictions. Thought these days the social networking sites are coming up with security settings, we on a personal basis should be extremely careful.

So in short, a social networking site has innumerable pros and cons. What is needed is awareness among people about the cons while enjoying the pros of it .And on the part of the social networking sites, they should be more responsible about security issues and protection of information of individual users.
