This is why creating your own Facebook review link (with a login prompt) is better than simply using the URL of your Facebook Business review page, as the latter will require some customers to log in first.

There are three steps to creating a Facebook review link:

  • Create a Facebook login URL
  • Modify the URL to redirect customers after login
  • Add your business name to the URL

It sounds technical, but it’s not. You’ll see as we explain each step below.

Step 1: Create A Facebook Login URL

Customers can’t post a Facebook review for your business without logging in to Facebook first. 

Most Facebook users will know how to log in if needed, but, again, we’re trying to make it as easy as possible by assisting customers through the process.

All this step requires is adding “/login” to the end of the Facebook homepage URL, so that it looks like this: https://www.facebook.com/login/.

Step 2: Modify The URL To Redirect Customers After Login

After the customer logs in, you want to make sure that the customer is taken to your Facebook Business page – not to the Facebook News Feed.

This ensures the customer won’t have to search for your business or enter your Facebook URL a second time. 

To do this, add “?next=” to the end of the Facebook login URL made in step 1, so that it looks like this: https://www.facebook.com/login/?next=.

Step 3: Add Your Business Name To The URL

The final step is to add “https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fyourbusiness%2Freviews%2F” to the URL made in step 2.

However, you’ll need to replace “yourbusiness” with your business name as it reads in the URL of your Facebook page.

Once you have made the change and added it to the URL made in step 2, the final URL—your Facebook review link—should look like this (except with your business name): https://www.facebook.com/login/?next=https://www.facebook.com/yourbusiness/reviews/.

How To Request A Review On Facebook 

3 Steps to Creating a Facebook Review Link (1)

Creating your Facebook review link is only half the work, unfortunately. You’ll need to send the review link to customers, needless to say, but you’ll also need to use best practices for your review request to be effective.

This involves two things:

  • Sending your Facebook review requests using the appropriate channels

It’s no good to send Facebook review request links to your customers if your reviews aren’t turned on. While Facebook reviews are enabled by default, it’s worth checking to make sure!

Thankfully, enabling Facebook reviews takes just five simple steps:

  • Log in to your Facebook Business page
  • Click on “Settings” (located at the top right-hand corner)
  • Click on “Templates and Tabs” (located in the left-hand sidebar)
  • Scroll down to “Show Reviews” (in the “Reviews” section) and click the toggle “On”  
  • Click “Save” to confirm the change

Remember: Facebook reviews are enabled by default. So if you find that your Facebook reviews are enabled (the toggle will be green/“On”), make sure not to change the setting.

So you want to get more Facebook recommendations , huh? Facebook’s Review Linking Problem

Not so fast! Unfortunately, Facebook hasn’t made it super simple as Google My Business has . If you send them a link like the example above, users who are logged out of Facebook won’t arrive at the right place! Check out what they’re going to see:

It’s confusing, right? Not only that, using either of those options will not take them back to your reviews page after they log in. Another Facebook failure…. ?‍ Here’s where they will be taken:

  • If they use the normal, top-right login (#1), they’ll just end up on their normal feed, with nothing to do with your page at all!
  • If they use the “Log In” button at the bottom (#2), they’ll be taken to your page, but  not the Reviews section, where you want them to be!

Outsmarting Facebook’s Issues

It turns out that Facebook does have a way to redirect people to wherever you want after login though. That means we can construct a URL that will redirect people to the reviews section of your Facebook page. This link works great for logged-in users and will take logged-out users to the right place as well, no matter which of the above login options they use.

It’s a little complicated, so we created two methods for you. For both methods, you’re going to need to know your page’s “slug,” aka the part of the URL that designates your page. To get your page’s “slug”, go to your page, look in the address bar of your browser and get the part that’s between two forward slashes: / following “facebook.com”.

Hi Eric! We’ve had a few people report this. But it works every time we try it. You have to ensure you just enter the “slug” of your Facebook page’s URL. So based on the Facebook link in the footer of your website, you’d just put in “brockway.production”. If you do that, it’ll work. I already did it and will have it send you the resulting email. If you don’t see it, try checking your spam/junk. Thanks!

Hi Richard! The link should open in whatever is the default for Facebook links, on the device where the link is clicked/tapped. So for example, on my Android phone I have the Facebook Lite app. Android previously asked me if I wanted to open Facebook links in Chrome browser or in the Facebook Lite app. I told it the Facebook Lite app, so that’s now the default on my phone. If I tapped your link on my phone that’s where it would open. So this same link should work for any device, but it’s up to the user and the OS to decide if it gets opened in the app or browser. Does that make sense?

Hi Tevya! Awesome article. Works like a charm! You really saved me a headache. You will get SuperMan Mega Bonus Points if you happen to know of a way to modify the URL link format you recommended so it also forces “Most Recent” reviews to display first by default rather than the current and only apparent default “Most Helpful.” I’ve looked everywhere but can’t seem to find anything on it in terms of a special parameter or way to manage it in Facebook page settings. For record, its not that the review that shows up in “most helpful” is negative, but rather this issue is its in Spanish and from a vendor in Spain not a customer (which are primarily based in North America). More importantly, with “Most Helpful” as the default it only shows a review or two I think instead of the full list. Whereas, most recent shows them all and chronologically. Thanks again for the article and thanks in advance for any and all suggestions.

I looked into selecting the Most Recent tab as you’re hoping for. I’m not sure it’s possible. It appears that Facebook controls those through Javascript, as they don’t actually link anywhere in the HTML. So unfortunately, I’m not sure there’s much we can do, unless there’s some way to control the aria-selected state in the URL. But I’m not aware of anything like that.

Thank you for this link build. What I’m finding with this link is that the user is taken to the reviews section of my page but there is no button for them to actually review my business. The only way to get them there is to take them to the actual Yes / No boxes option that seems to only appear in the Feed of my business’ home page. And the only way to get them there is to just link them to the business homepage and give them directions to scroll and click yes. This is not as effective as a direct link to that yes button. When I try that – it doesn’t work. What am I missing?

Hi JoAnne, this is a great question! The problem is that you can’t see the Recommendation box when you view your own page’s Reviews tab. You can’t recommend your own business/product/etc so Facebook doesn’t give you the option if you’re an admin on the page. But others will see a box that says “Do you recommend [page name here]?” Followed by a “Yes” and “No” button. If they click either of those, they’ll be prompted for more information to leave their recommendation and review. But this isn’t as visible (have to scroll usually) on the main page as it is on the Reviews tab, where our generator’s link will take people.

Once you have the Reviews Tab, you're ready to create your Facebook review link.

How to create a Facebook review link 

Step 1: create a facebook login url.

Customers must log in to Facebook to post a review for your business. To simplify this process, create a Facebook login URL by adding "/login" to the end of the Facebook homepage URL. The URL should look like this: https://www.facebook.com/login/ . 

Step 2: Modify the URL to redirect customers after logging in

After login, ensure customers are directed to your Facebook Business page, not the Facebook News Feed. This eliminates the need for customers to search for your business or re-enter your Facebook URL. To achieve this, add "?next=" to the end of the Facebook login URL created in step 1. The URL should appear as follows: https://www.facebook.com/login/?next= . 

Step 3: add your business name to the URL

In the final step, enhance the URL created in step 2 by appending "https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fyourbusiness%2Freviews%2F" to it. However, remember to replace "your business" with your actual business name as it appears on your Facebook page's URL. With this change, the completed URL becomes your Facebook review link, structured like this (with your business name, of course): https://www.facebook.com/login/?next=https://www.facebook.com/yourbusiness/reviews/ .

"The Worst Product I've Ever Reviewed… For Now"

Marques Brownlee, the YouTuber better known as MKBHD, didn't mince words with the title of his review of Humane's AI Pin .

In a 25-minute video , Brownlee details all the issues he encountered using the AI device. (Spoiler alert: There were a lot.)

Brownlee's review aligns with other criticisms of the device . But not all of those came from someone with as much sway. His YouTube channel has more than 18 million subscribers.

One user on X pointed that out , calling the review "almost unethical" for "potentially killing someone else's nascent project" in a post reposted over 2,000 times. 

Most of the internet disagreed, and a Humane exec even thanked Brownlee on X for the "fair and valid critiques." 

But it highlights the power of Brownlee's reviews. Earlier this year, a negative video of Fisker's Ocean SUV by Brownlee also made waves on social media . 

Critical reviews in the age of innovation raise some interesting questions.

To be clear, there was nothing wrong with Brownlee's review. Humane's AI Pin costs $700. Watering down his review to ease the blow would be a disservice to the millions of fans relying on his perspective before making such a significant purchase.

Too often, companies view potential customers as an extension of their research and development. They are happy to sell a product that is still a work in progress on the promise they'll fix it on the fly. ("Updates are coming!")

But in a world of instant gratification, it can be hard to appreciate that innovation takes time. 

Even Apple can run into this conundrum. Take the Apple Vision Pro. Reviewers are impressed with the technology behind the much-anticipated gadget — but are still struggling to figure out what they can do with it . Maybe, over time, that will get sorted out. It's also worth remembering how cool tech can be, as Business Insider's Peter Kafka wrote following a bunch of trips in Waymo's software-powered taxis in San Francisco . Sure, robotaxis have their issues, Peter said, but they also elicit that "golly-gee-can-you-believe-it" sense.

As for Humane, America loves a comeback story. Just look at "Cyberpunk 2077." The highly anticipated video game had a disastrous launch in 2020 , but redeemed itself three years later, ultimately winning a major award .

Still, Humane shouldn't get a pass for releasing a product that didn't seem ready for primetime, according to the reviews. 

And its issue could be bigger than glitchy tech. Humane's broader thesis about reducing screen time might not be as applicable. As BI's Katie Notopolous put it: " I love staring at my iPhone ."

3. China's economy beat analysts' expectations. The country's GDP grew 5.3% in the first quarter of 2024, according to data published by the National Bureau of Statistics on Tuesday. It's a welcome return to form for the world's second-largest economy, although below-par new home and retail sales remain a cause for concern .

Iraqi prime minister denies country launched missiles or drones during Iran's attack on Israel

Israel said some of Iran's missiles on Saturday were launched from Iraq, but Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani denied it to CNN Tuesday.

"It was not proven to us through the military reports we've received that any missiles or any drones were launched from Iraq," al-Sudani told CNN's Christiane Amanpour in an interview on Tuesday. "Certainly, our position is clear; we do not allow any non-governmental body to use Iraq to bring it back into the battle. We have been taking the legal procedures to keep Iraq safe and to distance Iraq away from the conflict arena," al Sudani added.

Al-Sudani spoke with Amanpour from Washington, D.C., after he met with US President Joe Biden on Monday. Both leaders discussed the importance of de-escalating tensions in the Middle East.

US conducts another airdrop of food into northern Gaza, CENTCOM says

The US military conducted another aid drop into northern Gaza on Tuesday, dropping approximately 25,300 meal equivalents, US Central Command said in a  post  on X.

"The joint operation included two C-130 U.S. Air Force aircraft, and U.S. Army Soldiers specialized in aerial delivery of U.S humanitarian assistance supplies," CENTCOM said.

To date the US has dropped 891 tons of humanitarian assistance, CENTCOM said.

Remember:   Humanitarian organizations have warned  that airdrops are "good photo opportunities but a lousy way to deliver aid."

Earlier Tuesday,  Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen  announced the Biden administration would use sanctions “to continue disrupting the Iranian regime’s malign and destabilizing activity.” 

“From this weekend’s attack to the Houthi attacks in the Red Sea, Iran’s actions threaten the region’s stability and could cause economic spillovers," she said at a news conference.

  • More from Iran: Israel’s war cabinet met again on Tuesday to discuss Israel’s response to Iran’s attack. After Iran closed its nuclear facilities on Sunday for "security considerations," Rafael Grossi, International Atomic Energy Agency director general, told CNN that its inspectors are back in the facilities and the "situation seems to be business as usual." Also, the US will restrict the movements of Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and his delegation while they are in New York this week, a source familiar told CNN. 
  • Developments on the ground: At least 13 people were killed , including seven children, and more than 25 people were wounded after a strike targeted the Al-Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza on Tuesday, according to Al-Aqsa Martyrs hospital officials. Elsewhere, the Israel Defense Forces said its airstrikes killed three Hezbollah fighters , including two commanders, in southern Lebanon on Tuesday. 
  • World Central Kitchen updates: The US is continuing to review the findings of the Israeli investigation into the  deadly strike  on a World Central Kitchen convoy, US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller said on Tuesday. The United States is “not at this time” calling for an independent investigation, Miller said. He said he did not have a timetable for when its assessment will be completed.
  • Palestinian child’s death probe: The US will be going to Israel with new information from a  Washington Post report  that contradicts the results of an Israeli investigation into the death of 5-year-old Palestinian girl  Hind Rajab , who was found dead in Gaza in February. The US called on Israel to investigate Rajab’s death earlier this year, and Miller now says the US “would still welcome a full investigation into this matter, and how it occurred in the first place.”
  • Probe problems: A United Nations Commission of Inquiry accused Israel of actively obstructing its efforts to collect evidence from victims and first-hand witnesses of Hamas’ attacks in southern Israel on October 7. The commissioner appealed to the Israeli government to cooperate and urged victims and witnesses to the events in southern Israel to contact the commission. 

US to impose new sanctions on Iran in the coming days, national security adviser says

 The United States is planning to impose new sanctions targeting Iran after its attack on Israel over the weekend, according to National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan.

“Following Iran’s unprecedented air attack against Israel, President Biden is coordinating with allies and partners, including the G7, and with bipartisan leaders in Congress, on a comprehensive response,” Sullivan wrote in a statement. “In the coming days, the United States will impose new sanctions targeting Iran, including its missile and drone program as well as new sanctions against entities supporting the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Iran’s Defense Ministry. We anticipate that our allies and partners will soon be following with their own sanctions.” 

Earlier Tuesday, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen announced the Biden administration would use sanctions “to continue disrupting the Iranian regime’s malign and destabilizing activity.” 

In addition to new sanctions, Sullivan wrote Tuesday the administration will “continue to work through the Department of Defense and U.S. Central Command to further strengthen and expand the successful integration of air and missile defense and early warning systems across the Middle East to further erode the effectiveness of Iran’s missile and UAV capabilities.”

Israel, aided by its allies, dodged a bullet Sunday.

To be more precise, 60 tons of explosives aboard more than 350 Iranian projectiles, some bigger than a family car, failed to dodge Israel’s defenses.

Yet Israel, in defiance of US President Joe Biden’s warnings to “take the win” and Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi’s threat of a “severe, extensive and painful” response to any retaliation, is contemplating just that.

Deterrence, shorthand for “meanest S.O.B. in the room,” Israel believes, is the cornerstone of its survival. Iran is stealing that brick.

When faced with existential threats in the past, Israel has executed the most audacious raids the region has ever witnessed. The point being, Israel won’t telegraph its attack plans as Iran did at the weekend.

Aside from the core members of Israel’s war cabinet, more than a dozen other people have sat at the table deep inside the Kirya, Israel’s maximum security defense headquarters in Tel Aviv, thrashing out their next move.

Netanyahu’s next move will likely try to lock in sanctions, and strike before negative Gaza headlines dump the international good will filling his sails.

The clock is ticking. He needs two things, time to prepare a significant surprise strike, and time to coalesce international diplomacy. As both march to different beats, his legendary political acumen faces one of its stiffest tests yet.

Israel's sense of reason has been replaced by revenge, new Irish prime minister says

Ireland's newly appointed prime minister told CNN that Israel's sense of reason has been "replaced by revenge" as he addressed recent tensions between the Israeli and Irish governments.  

In his first television interview since being appointed last week, Taoiseach Simon Harris hit back at recent criticisms from the Israeli foreign ministry and the Israeli Ambassador to Ireland Dana Erlich, accusing the country of being "on the wrong side of history" when it comes to the war in Gaza. 

"Excuse me for finding it a little bit hard to see where the representative of the (Benjamin) Netanyahu government is talking about being on the wrong side because I think the actions of the Netanyahu government right now, in terms of allowing this humanitarian catastrophe to unfold in Gaza, and the impact on women, children, civilians and civilian infrastructure is profound," Harris told CNN's Christiane Amanpour.  Harris went on to say that "Ireland is extraordinarily clear in its condemnation of Hamas ... and of the right of Israel to be able to live in safety and security. But we also believe that reason has now been replaced by revenge."

The prime minister doubled down on his call for "an immediate cessation of hostilities" in Gaza alongside his plan to convince fellow European Union leaders to formally recognize the state of Palestine. Harris laid out his belief that a peaceful solution to the war in Gaza "involves a number of countries that are like-minded coming together to recognize the state of Palestine." 

He reiterated that "Ireland stands ready to recognize the state of Palestine" and is very keen to do so alongside other EU member states to increase the "potential positive momentum."  

The Israeli foreign ministry has condemned Ireland's intention to recognize Palestinian statehood, maintaining in a press release last week that doing so would be awarding Hamas a "prize for terrorism."

IDF says its airstrikes in Lebanon killed 3 Hezbollah fighters

The Israel Defense Forces said its airstrikes killed three Hezbollah fighters, including two commanders, in southern Lebanon on Tuesday. 

Muhammad Hussein Shahouri, "the Commander of the Rockets and Missiles Unit of Radwan Forces' Western Region," was killed in an airstrike in Kfar Dounine in south Lebanon, an IDF statement said. "As part of his role, Muhammad planned and promoted rocket and missile launches toward Israeli territory from the areas of Lebanon's central and western regions." 

Mahmoud Ibrahim Fadlallah, "an operative of Hezbollah's Rockets and Missiles Unit," was also killed in the same airstrike, the IDF added.

Earlier, the IDF said in a separate statement that its airstrike killed Ismail Youssef Bazz , "the commander of Hezbollah's coastal sector, in the area of Ain Ebel in Lebanon," in southern Lebanon.

Hezbollah confirmed the deaths of its three fighters without providing details on the circumstances of their deaths or ranks. 

At least 13 people killed, including 7 children, after strike on central Gaza's Al-Maghazi refugee camp

At least 13 people were killed, including seven children, and more than 25 people were wounded after a strike targeted the Al-Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza on Tuesday, according to Al-Aqsa Martyrs hospital officials.

Graphic video obtained exclusively by CNN from eyewitness Nihad Owdetallah shows several casualties scattered on the floor, including children, with blood streaming around the area. Dozens of people appear to be running around in panic, screaming and trying to count and carry the dead bodies. A foosball table covered in dust is seen among the dead bodies. 

Owdetallah, who lives in the camp, told CNN he heard an explosion at around 3:40 p.m. local time on Tuesday. 

"I immediately walked to see what happened and found dead bodies thrown on the ground. People screaming, kids screaming. Kids dead on the ground. They were just playing foosball, and they were martyred," he said.

Footage shot for CNN from inside Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital shows a continuous flow of causalities and injured people being ushered in, as the emergency room is crowded with patients, including several wounded children, crying out on the floor.

Video from inside a morgue at the hospital shows families trying to identify their loved ones among the deceased. Fatmeh Issa points to a white body bag with a young boy’s bloodied face exposed, telling CNN, "This is my son."

Another man cries out, “They have nothing to do with anyone! They are civilians. Have mercy on us. You are killing children. You are not killing an army or fighters; you are killing children who were peacefully playing in the street."

Video shows him handing a young girl’s dead body to another man, both men crying out Quranic verses and sobbing. The man who receives her body is seen placing her on the ground, and covers her body with a jacket, telling CNN she is his daughter.

"This is my oldest daughter … her name is Lujain, she is 9-years-old. A strike hit them while they were playing out in the street. They are all just children,” he said.CNN has reached out to the Israel Defense Forces for comment but has not yet received a response.

Maui County residents asked to review, weigh in on wetlands map draft

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Maui County residents are being asked to review and weigh in on the county’s wetlands map draft designed to become a public tool for land-use decisions.

Residents can provide feedback on the draft now through May 15.

Officials say the comments will be used to finalize the map, which will be submitted for review to the Planning commissions, Maui County Council, conservation planning committee and the director of Public Works sometime in June.

The final wetlands map will eventually go on the county’s website and help property owners, land managers and county planners make land-use decisions.

It’s also meant to help reduce flood risk for human life and property.

“Part of the Planning Department’s kuleana is to protect and restore wetlands in Maui County,” Planning Director Kate Blystone said. “This wetland overlay map will serve as a tool for our County planners to determine where wetlands are located on Maui, Molokai and Lanai – an important first step in the department’s permitting process that leads us to conservation of these sensitive habitats.”

County officials say the draft map shows approximate locations of wetlands throughout the county and includes potential future wetland areas, which are derived by assessing passive flooding data that incorporates the effects of climate change, such as sea level rise.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The suicide bombing at the Kabul airport that killed U.S. troops and Afghans in August 2021 was not preventable, and the “bald man in black” spotted by U.S. service members the morning of the attack was not the bomber, according to a new review by U.S. Central Command.

The findings, released Monday, refute assertions by some service members who believed they had a chance to take out the would-be bomber but did not get approval. And, for the first time, the U.S. military is confirming that the bomber was Abdul Rahman al-Logari, an Islamic State militant who had been in an Afghan prison but was released by the Taliban as the group took control of the country that summer.

The Abbey Gate bombing during the final chaotic days of the  Afghanistan withdrawal  killed 13 U.S. service members and 170 Afghans, and wounded scores more. It triggered widespread debate and congressional criticism, fueled by emotional testimony from a Marine injured in the blast, who said snipers believe they saw the possible bomber but couldn’t get approval to take him out.

Former Marine Sgt.  Tyler Vargas-Andrews  told the House Foreign Affairs Committee last March that Marines and others aiding in the evacuation were given descriptions of men believed to be plotting an attack. Vargas-Andrews, who was injured in the blast but not interviewed in the initial investigation, said he and others saw a man matching the description and might have been able to stop the attack, but requests to take action were denied.

In a detailed briefing to a small number of reporters, members of the team that did the review released photos of the bald man identified by military snipers as a potential threat and compared it with photos of al-Logari. The team members, who spoke to reporters on condition of anonymity to provide details not yet made public, described facial recognition and other analysis they used that they said confirmed those were not the same man.

“For the past two years, some service members have claimed that they had the bomber in their sights and they could have prevented the attack. We now know that is not correct,” said a team member.

They said they also showed the photo of the bald man to service members during the latest interviews, and that the troops again confirmed that was the suspicious man they had targeted.

The review notes that the bald man was first seen around 7 a.m. and that troops lost sight of him by 10 a.m. The bombing was more than seven hours later, and the U.S. says al-Logari didn’t get to Abbey Gate until “very shortly” before the blast took place. They declined to be more specific about the timing, saying details are classified.

Family members of those killed in the blast received similar briefings over the past two weekends and some are still unconvinced.

“For me, personally, we are still not clear. I believe Tyler saw what Tyler saw and he knows what he saw. And it was not the guy that they were claiming was the man in black,” Jim McCollum, the father of Marine Lance Cpl. Rylee McCollum, told The Associated Press.

He said the team went into “pretty good detail, not trying to discredit Tyler, but effectively saying he was wrong. However, that ended up being as clear as mud to us.”

And Mark Schmitz, the father of Marine Lance Cpl. Jared Schmitz, questioned the photo itself.

“They kept saying this is who Tyler Vargas-Andrews was looking at and we were thinking to ourselves, ‘well, that’s interesting. Why is this a picture of a picture from a Canon camera?’” he said. “To me it felt like they were trying to find the guy in those cameras that may have come close to looking like somebody of interest that they can try to sell to us.”

The families, however, also said they were relieved to get more details about their loved ones’ deaths, saying the initial briefings were not as good.

Schmitz said that Army Gen. Eric Kurilla, head of U.S. Central Command, was part of the latest briefing and apologized for how the families were treated during the initial probe. This time around officials were able to share with Schmitz for the first time exactly where his son was when the bomb went off and that he was unconscious almost immediately, and therefore did not feel the impact of the shrapnel that went through his left torso, hitting a primary artery.

“That to me was, first and foremost, the best news I could have gotten,” Schmitz said. “That gave me a little bit of closure that my son didn’t suffer, which made me feel really good.”

Team members said they also are planning to speak with the troops who were interviewed this time, to share the results of the report.

They said the review also could not completely rule out claims that militants did a test run of the bombing several days earlier. But after reviewing photos and other intelligence, the team concluded it was unlikely that three men seen carrying a large bag — which troops deemed suspicious — were doing a trial run.

More broadly, the team said the review brought some new details to light, including more discussion about the possible bombing test run. But they said overall it confirmed the findings of U.S. Central Command’s initial investigation into the bombing: that it was not preventable and that reports of threats prior to the bombing were too vague.

As an example, the new review noted that threat reports talked about a possible bomber with groomed hair, wearing loose clothes, and carrying a black bag. That description, the review said, could have matched anyone in the enormous crowd desperately trying to get into the airport.

The team said they conducted 52 interviews for the review — adding up to a total of 190 when the previous investigation is included. Service members were asked about 64 questions, and the sessions lasted between one hour and seven hours long.

A number of those questioned weren’t included in the original investigation, many because they were severely wounded in the attack. The new review was ordered last September by Kurilla, largely due to criticism of the initial investigation and assertions that the deadly assault could have been stopped.

Members of the team said the Islamic State group put out the bomber’s name on social media, but U.S. intelligence was later able to independently confirm that report.

U.S. Central Command’s initial investigation concluded in November 2021 that given the worsening security situation at the airport’s Abbey Gate as Afghans became increasingly desperate to flee, "  the attack was not preventable  at the tactical level without degrading the mission to maximize the number of evacuees.”

Critics have slammed the Biden administration for the catastrophic evacuation, and they’ve complained that no one was held accountable for it. And while the U.S. was able to get more than 130,000 civilians out of the country during the panic after the Taliban took control of the government, there were horrifying images of desperate Afghans clinging to military aircraft as they lifted off.
