‘FBI: Most Wanted’ Star Roxy Sternberg Worked While Nine Months Pregnant

Jan. 17 2023, Published 1:44 p.m. ET

There’s no doubting Roxy Sternberg ’s dedication to her TV career! The actor, an alum of the TV shows Mars and Emerald City , plays Special Agent Sheryll Barnes on FBI: Most Wanted , and she kept on filming scenes for the CBS police procedural nine months into her pregnancy.

Fans are desperate for details on Roxy’s personal life — “Can I see a picture of the baby?” one person flat-out asked the actor on Twitter in May 2022. Roxy, understandably, has kept her private life private for the most part.

From what she has posted on social media, though, here’s what we’ve been able to sleuth out.

Is Roxy Sternberg married?

Details about Roxy’s love life are sketchy, but the actor appears to be in a relationship, judging from her social media photos. According to TVOvermind , Roxy’s boyfriend is someone named Flax, a claim bolstered by Roxy tweeting in July 2021 that the “clever Flax” was the one who took a photo of her on the London Underground.

In September 2018, Roxy posted a Facebook photo of herself cozying up to a fellow who’s dressed in a suit and tie. “Thought about all the flowery quotes that could accompany this pic… nothing stuck,” she wrote in her caption. “I’m very grateful to be on this ride with you! You’ve taught me so much. The light’s been turned on. Let’s keep pushing together.”

Does Roxy Sternberg have kids?

Roxy announced on Twitter in December 2021 that she was pregnant. “Cat’s out of the bag,” she wrote at the time. “Little friend arriving April 2022.”

The following April, she posted Twitter photos of herself out for a meal in New York City’s Chinatown neighborhood. “Went for duck for our ‘due date’ date!” she wrote in that tweet . “Let’s see how much longer this one wants cooking for…”

And that May, she posted photos of herself dressed up in Barnes’ bulletproof jacket and cradling her real-life baby bump. “Throwback to working on [ FBI: Most Wanted ] nine months pregnant!” she captioned the pics. “Big up our amazing photographer Mark Shafer.”

We haven’t seen any news about Roxy’s childbirth, but she did miss three of the last four episodes of FBI: Most Wanted , so perhaps that was her real-life maternity leave!

On screen, Barnes took on a maternity leave around the same time, which meant that she had to play catch-up with her new boss, Remy Scott, when she returned to work. And as viewers witnessed, the introduction didn’t exactly go well in FBI: Most Wanted ’s fourth-season premiere.

“I think that we will see [Barnes and Remy] get used to each other, let’s say, and over time, but I like [how it’s playing out],” actor Dylan Dermott, who plays Remy on the CBS series, told TV Insider in September 2022. “Life is messy. It’s not perfect. Relationships are messy. Work relationships are messy, they have to be worked out. We certainly are having a bit of a conflict, but I believe by next week, there’s more of our relationship exposed. You’ll see us work things out.”

  • The latest FBI: Most Wanted episode surprised viewers with a twist involving Special Agent Barnes' marriage.
  • Roxy Sternberg, who plays Barnes, was shocked by the storyline twist but ultimately trusted the creative decision.
  • Sternberg hopes to see more Black stories explored on the show and is excited for the challenges to come in Barnes' relationship.

Season 5, episode 4 of FBI: Most Wanted dropped its latest twist at the end of the hour, catching one of the show's own castmates off-guard. Following the cold open, there is a clear disconnect between Barnes and her wife as Charlotte prepares to leave for a business trip. However, the underlying reason for the tension isn't revealed until Charlotte confesses that she's met someone else during the show's final seconds.

Roxy Sternberg plays Special Agent Sheryll Barnes and has previously worked on projects such as Emerald City and Mars . Upon reading the script for "Hollow," Sternberg admits she was heartbroken over the couple's new adversary, even hoping the storyline may change. After talking with showrunner David Hudgins, Sternberg ultimately came to agree with the creative decision, but she remains unsure of what FBI: Most Wanted 's future might bring.

FBI: Most Wanted Season 6 - Confirmation & Everything We Know

Screen Rant interviewed Roxy Sternberg about her feelings on Barnes and Charlotte's new obstacle, the show's most horrific cases , and her hope to tell more Black stories.

Sternberg Didn't See The Barnes-Charlotte Twist Coming

Screen Rant: This is a big episode for your character. From the beginning, we see that there's tension between Barnes and Charlotte. They're feeling very disconnected. How much of that would you attribute to their jobs and the lifestyle that comes along with them?

Roxy Sternberg: I would attribute most of that to the fact that they've got very demanding jobs. I do think that Barnes pushes herself at work a little bit more than is needed. There are five agents on our team. I feel like me taking a little bit of time off or not coming in one morning, I think that is something she could ask for. But I feel like she doesn't want to let the team down. She doesn't want to slow down. She still feels like she's proving herself to Remy. Having worked with Jess for many years, I feel like I'm still proving myself. I think she's a workaholic, whereas Charlotte's job demands that right now. She's still at the early stages of her career, so she needs to be at work, whereas I feel like I want to be at work. I think, partly, it's down to the fact that we have very demanding jobs. But I think also the fact that Barnes is in denial and just a workaholic.

That touches on a really good point. Barnes says, "This is the life we chose," while Charlotte says, "Not exactly, but it's the one we have." Why do you think they have such different views on the situation?

Roxy Sternberg: I think this wasn't necessarily the picture that I painted. I think we've been together for many, many years. Even maybe when I was training to be an agent, I probably met her. I feel like things have become a little bit more demanding than they were when I sold this life to her, and I think I've become a little bit more obsessed with this life. I've seen so many changes happen at work, and me feeling like I really need to keep my foot down at work. I really need to stay grounded and stay present at work. I don't feel like I can afford to miss out on work with all these changes constantly happening. I feel like it's a choice, which maybe she hadn't relayed and sold to Charlotte.

We have that curveball at the end of the episode where Charlotte reveals that she met someone else. Were you surprised when you read the script, or when the writers told you?

Roxy Sternberg: I didn't see it coming at all. They usually give us a full warning when we've got a script coming up, and it's a heavy character stuff. This next one's a big one for Barnes or whatever. I didn't get any forewarning that, "This next one's going to be your family." No one told me that. I just read the script. I was pleasantly surprised and happy. I love my family stuff, so I was like, "Oh, okay, cool. That's great. We have a little fight at the beginning. We do that all the time. That's fine. We know how to get through that." Then I got to the end and I cried. I thought, "Why would they do that?" I was in denial that it was happening, and I messaged Fedna [Jacquet], who plays my wife, and sent her a screenshot of the last line. She sent me all these crying emojis. And then I tried to get ahold of [our showrunner] David Hudgins, but we couldn't speak. He's in L.A. I needed to change this. Why is this happening? I felt very out of control, which I think Barnes feels as well. This curveball has just landed on her, and she can't do anything to change it. It's already happened. Likewise, I've just been handed the script, and it's been written. Obviously, things can change, but it's going to be an interesting one to play, this challenge in their relationship. I'm excited about that, but very sad. When I spoke to David, I was like, "What's happening? What's in their future?" He explained to me, "I think it'd be great to have a little bit of adversity in this marriage," and I agree with him, but I'm sad still. I felt really sad. I agree that the audience likes to watch that, we like to play that. Life is not easy-breezy all the time. Relationships aren't. I think it's a really interesting one to play, and an even more interesting one to watch.

Barnes Wants To Save Her Marriage

Knowing Barnes as well as you do, do you think this is something that she will be able to get past emotionally?

Roxy Sternberg: I think it's definitely damaging to her ego. I think it's a struggle to accept it. I think there's a desire and a want to save this marriage, but I think she's hurt and angry and experiencing lots of different emotions, but it's something that they're willing to try and save. Whether they save it or not, I don't know. I didn't want to ask. I don't want to know what's in store for the characters long-term. We've only got four more episodes to do. I don't really want to know what the outcome is going to be for them. I was so sad saddened by it, but also I really feel it helps with my performance to know simultaneously as I'm doing it. I feel that's when it makes it feel real and alive. I feel like if I knew, "Oh, this is what their plan is for me," it would feel a little bit more stale and stagnant, because I'd be like, "Oh, I can do it like this and do it like that and do like this," and exhaust all the options. And then they'll say, "action," and I'll be exhausted. I'll have nothing to give because I've already gone through it in my head several different times playing it out, whereas actually, I think it was quite organic, the way we did it. We received the script, and we shot it a few days later. It felt like I was still hearing it and reading it for the first time.

I don't know if you know yet, or if you can even say, but is it possible that the audience might meet this person that Charlotte has fallen for?

Roxy Sternberg: No idea. I don't know that, and I bloody well hope not. I would hate that. For Barnes, I would hate that. It's horrible. I don't know what they have in store for us and in mind for us, but I see it as, "We're going to try and work on this." This third wheel being brought in makes it real, and actually, we're trying to get rid of that. How I'm seeing it in my head is that we're trying to work on us, and that means the elimination of that person. So, I bloody well hope not. I'd be devastated.

Sternberg Would Like To See The Show Explore More Black Stories

Barnes is actually the one who brings up in this episode how the homicide rate for Native American women is ten times the national average. Are there any real-world issues, in particular, you'd like to see the show help raise awareness about?

Roxy Sternberg: I want to see Black stories told more. We had a Black Lives Matter episode two seasons ago, but those are very dear to my heart—the telling of Black stories. I want to tell more of our stories, more of our struggles. I want to shine a light on the Black experience more, which we're actually doing this next episode. There's a story, which is linked to Africa, which is great and exciting. Even me reading it, I was learning a lot of things about Africa, and I'm African. My mother's Ugandan. This is more so Nigerian, so West-African. More storytelling of the Black experience. That would be something that I'm more keen to see on our show.

The case in this episode is shocking, but a lot of them are wild. Is there one in particular that has shocked you the most?

Roxy Sternberg: This is really horrific. In terms of what we see, we don't see things like that very often, so this is definitely up there. But they're all horrific. When are they going to do FBI: Miami, or Puerto Rico, or anywhere that's hot, basically, and just have us not chase any bad people because there are no bad people in the world? That's never going to happen, unfortunately, because of the climate that we live in. There's always something going on. But that would be a dream. They're all horrific in their own right. There was that episode last season where Dylan went undercover as a priest. There was this priest character who was demonic almost. It was a really dark, dirty episode, and he went undercover as a priest. There was also an episode where a guy had killed a woman and engraved something in her back. That was season 1 or 2. There was a young guy that was grooming all these young women. They're all horrific. I don't think one necessarily stands out above the rest. They all, in their own right, are horrific. But this one, like I said, we see things that we don't normally see. Those organs—that was shocking to see. He's after a woman's placenta, and he's abducted a pregnant woman. I try to always see the humanity and see the humaneness in these bad people, if we're going to call them that, but it's quite difficult to. Of course, he's ill. That's ultimately the problem. He's ill, and he's trying to save himself and live, but in doing so, he's killing other people. It's all sad and dark, but it does make for great television, so I hope people enjoy it.

Outside of everything that's happening with Charlotte, is there a storyline for Barnes that you would like to see explored?

Roxy Sternberg: Absolutely. Let me think. So. Hana's character, Keisha and I, we're the OGs on the show. We've been there for five years now. I'd like to see the two of those girls going to a bar and having a drink and having a chat and having a reminisce. That would be really cool. And getting drunk. I'd like to do more scenes with Nina. I'm loving the Nina-Barnes chemistry. It's really fun. I really love working with Shantel. I'd like to do more scenes with the three of us girls. I love my family life stuff. That character stuff, the stuff that goes a little outside of the procedural and isn't following the case, that's the stuff I live for. That's the stuff I really find fun. And an undercover one. Season 1, I went undercover, and I would love to do that again. That was super fun. I went undercover, and I was a gangster, and it was so cool. So I would love to do more undercover work. That's number one. That's top. Forget having drinks at the bar with the girls. I would like to do more undercover stuff. That was really cool.

‘FBI: Most Wanted’ Star Roxy Sternberg Doesn’t ‘Know What the Future’ Holds After Barnes Cliffhanger

The fate of Sheryll’s marriage is up in the air after Tuesday’s episode of the CBS drama

fbi-most-wanted-fedna-jacquet-roxy-sternberg-cbs

Note: This story contains spoilers from “FBI: Most Wanted” Season 5, Episode 4.

Roxy Sternberg’s character Sheryll Barnes got some devastating news in Tuesday’s episode of “FBI: Most Wanted.” Her wife, Charlotte Gaines (Fedna Jacquet), whose job as a lawyer has taken her out of town for extended periods, broke the news that “I’ve met someone.”

The fate of their relationship was left up in the air by the time the credits rolled. “They don’t know what the future holds for them,” Sternberg told TheWrap in a recent interview.

The actress, who announced her second pregnancy on March 5 and is due on May 27, joked “there could be a delivery on set” of the CBS procedural as filming continues on Season 5. She spoke with TheWrap about finishing production before her maternity leave, welcoming Shantel VanSanten into the cast and more.

Fedna Jacquet and Roxy Sternberg on “FBI: Most Wanted”

TheWrap: The last time you were pregnant, you worked up through your ninth month, are you going to work up until the last minute again?

Roxy Sternberg: I went right until the end [in 2022]. Actually, I think I took three weeks off beforehand. So this will be basically the same. But working a little bit closer to the due dates as we wrap on the 12th, I believe. There could be a delivery on set. (Laughs)

What will Barnes be doing when you’re on maternity leave?

I’m going to make it to the end, hopefully, this season. And come back maybe a little bit slightly behind [for next season].

So Barnes is definitely coming back?

She’s definitely coming back. (Smiles)

What’s going to happen with Charlotte and their children?

I don’t really know what the plan is, and I don’t really want to know. If I know what’s in store for them down the line, I’ll start getting carried away with it all. I just want to kind of take it step-by-step, which I think is also what they’re doing. They don’t know what the future holds for them.

Hollow episode of "FBI: Most Wanted"

Barnes’ job is so demanding and she’s away so much, which on many shows means the spouse is left at home and asking, “Why aren’t you home more?” But this is a different dynamic.

Right, my wife’s equally as busy as me. It’s like the pot calling the kettle black, but also I feel like Barnes is obsessed with her work. She can take a little bit of timeout, but when Remy [Dylan McDermott] says, “Jump,” she says, “How high?”

I think Charlotte’s work needs that right now because she’s building herself up in her profession, whereas Barnes chooses it because she’s so obsessed and such a workaholic. And now their relationship is on the line.

Shantel VanSanten joins "FBI: Most Wanted" as a regular for Season 5.

When Barnes came back from maternity leave last time she felt a little sidelined by Remy after he took over the task force.

We are in a great space [now]. There’s a lovely scene that comes as a result of Charlotte having met someone else, where Remy and I have a nice moment. I’m really excited for everyone to see [that], having had that friction. There’s mutual respect, but we had to earn each other’s trust. A lot has happened since and we are good friends [now], that’s really nice to play as well.

Barnes now has new mom Nina (Shantel VanSanten) to sympathize with about juggling kids and careers as well.

Yes. She’s amazing. I really love playing with her on camera and off. We get on really well. There’s also vulnerable moments for her, leaning on the character’s shoulders. I think that’s really needed for these kinds of real human moments, as well as us being badass. It’s really important that we see those moments as well.

“FBI: Most Wanted” airs Tuesdays at 10 pm ET/PT on CBS and streams on Paramount+ .

wiki biography roxy sternberg husband

On FBI: Most Wanted , Roxy Sternberg plays Special Agent Sheryll Barnes. In real life, though, Roxy couldn’t be more different from the hardcore FBI agent she plays onscreen. Sweet, outgoing, and quite funny, there’s much more to the British-born actor than meets the eye. We sat down with Roxy to discuss her role, her background, and her hopes for the show’s future.

Q: How did the opportunity to play Sheryll Barnes come about?  A: Last pilot season , it was actually the first audition my manager sent me. I saw that it was a Dick Wolf project, which excited me immediately because he is the pinnacle of American drama — American television. I was very excited, got to tape, sent off , and here I am today. I was very lucky.

Q: Before shooting, how did you prepare for the role? A: Before we started shooting , they provided us with some tactical training. I had never held a gun before. I had never played an FBI agent before, so that was all new to me. I learned how to hold the gun convincingly, and I learned how to shoot a gun. Aside from that, I looked up some Quantico training online. They have YouTube videos and clips and I looked at current and retired FBI agents just talking.

Q: Did the way in which you played Sheryll Barnes develop further throughout the season? A: I think so. I hope so. I think playing this character, I got to understand her more. I got more comfortable in her skin as it progressed. My hope is that it shows on camera. Also from working with such a great cast, from the pilot to the actual season , we worked together every day . I think it shows on camera. There’s unity and familiarity. I think that the intimacy of the characters grew on camera as it did in real life.

Q: We previously talked with Dani, the Most Wanted technical advisor. Can you tell us a bit about your relationship with her? How important has it been working with actual FBI agents? A: Dani is a G odsend. She is amazing ! I was so lucky to work with her. She is so hardworking and dedicated. She was so passionate about us doing a good job and I think she was happy with the way we portrayed FBI agents. I hope that we did it justice. She would not be shy to say, ‘ L isten Roxy, more tough. Hold the gun higher.’ I want it to be as convincing as possible. I’m sure everyone else did as well. She is a wonderful human being and I feel very lucky to have worked with her and I hope it’s the first of many.

Ultimately we are making a TV show , so it’s all about the drama, but It was important having someone who is actually in that world around. It’s nice to know that there is someone behind it all saying that’s exactly how it would be.

Q: What has been the most fun FBI maneuver to learn? What has been the most difficult? A: Like I said, I’d never held a gun before . A ctually holding a gun and doing it convincingly was extremely empowering. Learning how to handcuff bad guys too. There were a few times where we had a stunt coordinator on set when we did our takedown s . S ometimes I would have the stunt coordinator show me how to bring the bad guy down , and I’d be very hands on and that really excited me. I think that was the most fun. I think that was also the most difficult because I’ve never done that before. There was a lot of coordination with the guns and with the handcuffs, being able to put one away and pull one out and also holding onto the fugitive. It was like choreography.

Q: What is something you didn’t know about the FBI that you learned by playing an agent? A: I didn’t know how hard they worked. They work bloody hard ! And again, we are only shooting a TV show, we’re just paying homage to it. These guys go out every day, they risk their lives, leaving their family, their loved ones. I learned how much we should respect what they do.

Q: In the show, you have an American accent, but naturally, you speak with an English accent. How did you perfect your accent, and do you ever catch yourself jumping between the two dialects? A: I had a dialect coach who helps me. O n set there’s so many accents. We’ve got an Australian, a Kiwi, a Canadian, a Brit, and an American. I just hope I gave the American accent justice. I think it helped that the majority of our crew was from America. We were family on the show. If anything sounded really terrible, someone would pop up and say, ‘ Y o, that’s not quite right’. But luckily no one actually did come up to me. I was very grateful. But also, ever since I was a kid, I’ve watched American TV shows , and I’ve always put on the accent.

Q: This season we saw the first crossover between, FBI and FBI: Most Wanted . What was that experience like?  A: That was great. We did the backdoor pilot, but it was lovely reuniting with Zeeko and some of the other actors that we worked with before, as well as meeting new ones. It was lovely getting a new energy on our set. I was also learning from these guys. They were well into their second season. They’ve been doing it for months and months. I learned a lot from them. It was exciting. These guys work so bloody hard. They have a lot of background actors, whereas we’re mostly on the road. There’s a real choreography to their show, weaving in and around all these background actors , and they do it so convincingly . I t looks brilliant. It was quite challenging once we entered their world to work with such a huge team.

Q: The show depicts such serious and intense storylines . H ow do you disconnect at the end of the day? A: I meditate daily, usually in the morning for my sanity. But I can’t deny it . I did bring some of this stuff home. Not necessarily the darker storylines, though , I think that was there subconsciously, but also the exhaustion. It was really long hours, traveling, running around . I t was such a joy, but also exhausting. When it came to the weekend, I did so much relaxing and hot yoga. Yoga kept me sane and grounded.

I think it’s also a matter of learning because this is the longest time I’ve ever worked on a project. Seven months. I think with time it will get easier and I will learn how to disconnect better. I was able to cope with it, so that’s good. I’m here today to tell the tale and I have the most fun working with my other costars.

Q: Do you have any favorite moments from set? A: I do. I don’t know what you call it in America. I’ve called it “ corpsing, ” which is when you die in a scene, a.k.a. you move out of character and into yourself. But we have so many moments, we got on really well . W e would laugh , and we would break character and pee ourselves laughing. Those were the moments that I stuck with me the most. We really were a family , and I miss everyone. We speak all the time. We’ve got an iMessage chat group.

Q: Did you always know you wanted to be an actor? How did you end up in this career? A: Actually a funny story, now that we’re self quarantining ourselves, my partner and I were going through some family videos that I got given for my birthday last year. I was literally acting since I was a kid. I always wanted to be either a presenter or a comedian. I got that bug from my father who trained to be an actor. I felt that bug and that frustration and that, just that passion, that fire for the performance. I decided to pursue it now I’m living my childhood dreams. I’m so lucky. Really bloody lucky. Actually. I pinch myself now and again.

Roxy Sternberg’s Kids: Who Is Roxy Sternberg Married To? The ‘FBI: Most Wanted’ Star’s Husband and Children

Is roxy sternberg married ‘fbi: most wanted’ star roxy sternberg worked while nine months pregnant..

There’s no doubting Roxy Sternberg’s dedication to her TV career! The actor, an alum of the TV shows  Mars  and  Emerald City plays Special Agent Sheryll Barnes on  FBI: Most Wanted , and she kept on filming scenes for the  CBS police procedural  nine months into her pregnancy.

Roxy Sternberg

Details about Roxy’s love life are sketchy, but the actor appears to be in a relationship, judging from her social media photos. According to  TVOvermind , Roxy’s boyfriend is someone named Flax , a claim bolstered by Roxy  tweeting  in July 2021 that the “clever Flax” was the one who took a photo of her on the London Underground.

Throwback to working on @MostWantedCBS 9 months pregnant! Big up our amazing photographer Mark Shafer?? pic.twitter.com/bsJ9RUNqHU — Roxy sternberg (@RoxySternberg) May 4, 2022

As FBI: Most Wanted Only Has Two Original Series Regular Stars Left, Roxy Sternberg Shared Thoughts On Hitting A Milestone In Season 5

Congrats to the FBI: Most Wanted team for hitting a milestone!

Keisha Castle-Hughes and Roxy Sternberg in FBI: Most Wanted Season 4

FBI: Most Wanted is only a few episodes into its fifth season on CBS, but it has already reached a notable milestone. After FBI reached 100 episodes back in the spring of 2023, Most Wanted has officially aired 75 episodes, and many more are still on the way in Season 5. Considering everything that has happened to the entertainment industry since Most Wanted premiered in early 2020, that's an accomplishment. Only two of the original stars are still on board, however, and one of them opened up about hitting 75 in the 2024 TV schedule .

I spoke with Roxy Sternberg, who along with Keisha Castle-Hughes has been part of FBI: Most Wanted from the beginning, ahead of the Season 5 premiere. After she shared her thoughts on the transition of Nina Chase from FBI to the spinoff, the Sheryll Barnes actress shared her thoughts on the show reaching 75 episodes:

That feels epic! I never even considered that. That feels mad. 75 episodes! That's like a lifetime's work for some actors. [laughs] That is unbelievable. That's incredible, especially as we've had so many stops and starts. Season 1 was a reduced season because of COVID and we didn't have the full 22. Season 2 was a reduced season because of COVID, because we started late. Season 3 was a full one but a reduced season for me because I had a baby. Season 4 was the first time I did the full 22. And then this season obviously is also reduced because of the strikes. So even with all the stop and starts, 75 is unbelievable. That's an achievement in itself. I'm very privileged to have done that much work on this show.

Given that Roxy Sternberg is British and shows from the U.K. side of the pond tend to have much shorter seasons than on networks in the U.S., 75 episodes of one series pretty much could be a lifetime's work! In all seriousness, Most Wanted is almost an unexpected success story. After getting a backdoor pilot on FBI , the spinoff premiered in January 2020, which was shortly before the entertainment industry shut down due to the COVID pandemic , which then affected the second season.

Season 3 was a time of major change with the death of Jess LaCroix , arrival of Dylan McDermott as Remy Scott, and Barnes deciding to step away from the Bureau to process the loss of her friend . Of course, the real-life reason for Barnes stepping away was Sternberg's real-life maternity leave, although some behind-the-scenes photos show how Most Wanted was able to hide the pregnancy for a while.

The WGA writers strike and SAG-AFTRA actors strike that delayed the fifth season mean that it also won't run for 20+ episodes, but the show is going strong with Roxy Sternberg and Keisha Castle-Hughes as the last remaining members from the original cast. Like Sternberg, Castle-Hughes was absent from a number episodes earlier in the series' run but ultimately returned full-time.

The rest of the original cast was comprised of Julian McMahon as the late Jess LaCroix; Kellan Lutz as Kenny Crosby, who left in the Season 3 premiere ; and Nathanial Arcand, whose Clinton Skye was written off between seasons . The Season 5 cast is made up of Dylan McDermott as Remy Scott (who had a very sad moment in the premiere ), Edwin Hodge as Ray Cannon (whose father was recently introduced ), and Shantel VanSanten as Nina Chase in addition to Roxy Sternberg and Keisha Castle-Hughes.

The 75th episode aired on February 20, and the fifth season still has plenty of time left to spin more stories about the worst of the worst fugitives. Keep tuning in to CBS on Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET for new episodes of FBI: Most Wanted , following and possibly crossing over with FBI: International at 9 p.m. ET and FBI at 8 p.m. ET. You can also check out earlier episodes of all three shows streaming with a Paramount+ subscription now .

Birth of actress roxy sternberg.

British actress Roxy Sternberg is deeply connected to her Jewish roots. She began working as an actress in her youth, gaining traction and going on to star in major roles on screen. Her love for her Jewish community flourished at West London Synagogue, where she continues to teach when she is not filming for television, but she has faced some discrimination as a Jew of Color.

Sternberg’s mother moved to the United Kingdom from Uganda when she was fifteen years old and later married Sternberg’s father, a British Jewish man of Russian and Polish descent. Roxy was born on April 20, 1989, in West London.

Sternberg and her older sister were raised Jewish. Growing up as a Jew of Color in London was not always easy, as Sternberg explained in an interview with the Jewish Chronicle . She is often questioned about her Jewish identity because of her race, by Jews and non-Jews alike. She attended West London Synagogue growing up, where she says she always felt welcomed.

Sternberg began acting on the stage, after graduating from the Royal Holloway University in London. She had a starring role in the play It’s a Lot , an especially popular play in the United Kingdom. She began her on-screen acting career in 2012, mostly taking short-term roles on sit-coms. Her talent was quickly discovered. In 2013 she was featured on Law and Order: UK , and after advancing in the world of television, she became known for her roles in Chewing Gum (2015), Emerald City (2017), and Mars (2018).

In between acting jobs, Sternberg often returns to West London Synagogue to teach Hebrew school. She hopes to impart the same experience she had growing up and learning in an open and welcoming environment. Her strong connection to continuing Jewish education moves her to return to her roots, where she works to inspire the next generation.

‘FBI: Most Wanted’ Star Roxy Sternberg Doesn’t ‘Know What the Future’ Holds After Barnes Cliffhanger

'Something's Gotta Give': FBI: Most Wanted's Roxy Sternberg Previews The 'Real Disturbing Stuff' As Barnes Faces Family Drama

FBI: Most Wanted returns to CBS on March 12 after a brief break in the 2024 TV schedule to shift the focus over to Sheryll Barnes, played from the beginning by Roxy Sternberg. Of course, on a show in the FBI franchise, a character stepping into the spotlight doesn’t always mean an easy case for them, and that will be the situation with Barnes both on the job and at home. Sternberg spoke with CinemaBlend about Barnes’ family struggles and the case that is dark even by Most Wanted standards.

The next new episode of Most Wanted is called “Hollow” and will send the Fugitive Task Force to upstate New York to hunt a serial killer who has been murdering Indigenous women. The clock will be ticking for them as always, and Barnes won’t be able to count on a happy ending regardless of whether or not the team catches the bad guy this week, as she and wife Charlotte haven’t had much time to bond lately.

I spoke with Roxy Sternberg about Barnes and Charlotte struggling in their marriage, and the actress shared her thoughts on exploring this part of her character via this episode:

I love the character stuff. I love the family stuff. I love when there's a bit of adversity, a bit of friction. Whenever I get episodes and it's to do with family stuff, I get really excited. It's just a shame that this one's not the usual easy, you know, kiss one another at the end and make it all better. This one just seems like it's a bit different, which I also love as well. I don't like when things are so easy. Not in life necessarily, but as a character, I think it's nice having a little bit of friction, having something to work with, work towards, work up against. I enjoy it, but it is sad.

A bit of friction may not be what most people look for in their own lives, but would Most Wanted really be as interesting as it is if everything – or anything – was easy for the agents? The extreme hours of Barnes’ work have caused some tension between the spouses over the five years of the series so far, which you can revisit streaming via Paramount+ subscription and/or Peacock Premium subscription .

It remains to be seen what, if anything, has changed since fans last saw Charlotte, played by Fedna Jacquet. I went on to ask Roxy Sternberg – who has also weighed in on Most Wanted hitting a major milestone – if it would be a little unrealistic if there wasn’t some friction in light of the demands of Barnes’ job, and she responded:

I think it would be unrealistic. I think that would be so simple, so easy, maybe boring even – to watch someone that's out on the field working the crazy hours she works and comes home and is an amazing wife. The truth is I work these crazy hours. Not the same crazy hours as a real FBI agent, but we work crazy hours on the show and I sometimes come home and I'm an absolute terror. I'm like, 'Why is the place a mess?' That's what happens, but what it is, is it's everything. It's the whole day that’s been simmering, and so I think it would be unrealistic for me [as Barnes] to come home and be an incredible mother as well as a great agent on the field. An incredible mother and wife. Something's gotta give. I can't be great at my job, a great spouse, and a great mother. I think something is definitely being compromised.

While Ray seems to be achieving a pretty solid work/life balance in Season 5 based off of the episode that introduced his dad and ended on a big step forward in his relationship, Remy hasn’t had a particularly easy time . Based on Roxy Sternberg’s comments, Barnes isn’t dealing nearly as well as Ray this season. Apparently, “something’s gotta give.”

And on FBI: Most Wanted , pretty terrible things can happen when something’s gotta give, although it should at least be safe to say that Charlotte won’t be part of the case of the week with the upstate murders of Indigenous women. According to Roxy Sternberg, however, the case will make her feel more stretched thin than usual by the end of the day:

It's a pretty dark one, and the things that we see on this episode we don't usually see. I think I'm especially exhausted [as Barnes], and I've seen some real disturbing stuff. So coming home, just wanting to just have my wife hold me and love one another and just kind of just review the day and just lay in bed together and spoon one another. This would feel like this is the episode that I think Barnes would need that, but I don't think she's expecting it just because of the way that they started.

Considering Most Wanted has aired more than 75 episodes at this point and even killed off the original leading man in pretty brutal fashion, it says a lot that Sternberg will describe a case as “pretty dark” with “some real disturbing stuff.” The show has just evolved the dark storylines ever since she first spoke with CinemaBlend about them back in 2020! The actress continued:

I think she knows that Charlotte's not overly happy, overly thrilled with [her]. [As Barnes], I don't know to what extent but I think I'm aware that the wife's not very happy. I think I'm taken by surprise as to what extent my wife is not happy, but yeah, I think I am especially stretched thin with this case. I've seen some real crap. I think we always see some real crap. [laughs] We see some real dark situations, real dark circumstances, and this one feels especially dark.

Fortunately, the wait to see what’s particularly dark about “Hollow” and what happens between Barnes and Charlotte isn’t much longer. The new episode airs on Tuesday, March 12 on CBS in FBI: Most Wanted ’s usual time slot of 10 p.m. ET. All three shows of the franchise will be back, with FBI ’s newest episode of Season 6 in the wake of OA’s heavy storyline at 8 p.m. ET and FBI: International ’s newest case at 9 p.m. ET. A Chicago Fire veteran will soon return to the franchise as well, with Monica Raymund slated to direct another FBI episode this season.
