Today’s time is e-commerce time and in such time it is hard to choose a quality product. So review sites are the best to check which product is best. Thanks for the list you have provided here.

We only have one remaining, impartial product review site left in Australia – Productreview.com.au. Other review sites are set up by/for businesses to increase sales. For example, many businesses “steal” good reviews from them to put at the bottom of their own web pages.

Amazon is the worst place to go for reviews. Many of the reviews are paid for, Amazon allows sellers to combine reviews for different products so if there is a product with, say, 4000+ reviews, and 4 Star average, you can just about guarantee the reviews are a mish-mash of multiple products and you may even be buying an item based off reviews for an entirely different item than what you are purchasing. There are a long list of problems with Amazon Reviews, they should not be trusted for accuracy at any level.

When reviewing a series of products, we develop bulletproof criteria to compare and test against. Not every product makes the cut. Its free plan is pretty limited and isn’t well suited for blogging. For example, Wix ads show on every page as well as the favicon in your URL. You can’t have a custom domain, your storage is limited to 500 MB and you can’t have Google Analytics. For bloggers, consider investing in the Unlimited plan or higher.

Forbes Advisor’s team of experts has rated and reviewed the best blogging platforms to help you choose the right one for your needs. To compile our pick of the best, we looked at 17 data points that include ease of use, costs, customer support, reviews, features and functionality.

We then assign each platform a score out of five in each category, with five being the highest. In addition, we also took into account the needs of different types of users such as bloggers, businesses and marketers. Here are some of the categories we used to rank the providers that made the top of the list.

For pricing, we considered whether a blogging platform offered a free version or a free trial. For those that charge fees, we looked at what the starting price was, what the range of prices was between the various tiers available and whether each higher tier offered valuable add-ons that benefit users. Pricing totalled 20% of our weighted scoring.

General Features

Features were broken down into two categories: general features and additional features. For general features, we were looking for factors that each platform should have and whether it was available automatically or as a paid add-on. These general features include multimedia support, drag-and-drop functionality, SEO tools, analytics and third-party integrations. We weighted general features at 25% of our total score.

Additional Features

Then we looked for features that we considered to be more unique offerings in the field. Again, we used the same criteria, meaning whether the feature was included automatically with the platform or whether it was necessary to purchase it for an additional price. These unique features included offering free domain names and e-commerce functionality. Additional features accounted for 20% of the total score.

Third-party reviews

We turned to popular third-party review websites, including G2, Capterra and Trustpilot, to find out what real users of these blogging platforms thought about them. To score these, we looked for reviews on each site that scored at least 3.5 out of 5 points and rated the companies on how many reviews were left in that range for each blogging platform. These customer reviews accounted for 5% of the total score.

Expert analysis

Using all of the Australian market research and the categories listed above, we also ranked additional criteria from customer reviews, such as popularity, value for the money, ease of use and stand-out features. This final section accounted for 30% of the total score.

Lexus hopes its smallest car ever will make a big impact.

The all-new LBX compact SUV has five seats but isn’t well suited to families.

The brand is instead targeting singles and couples who value luxury trinkets, style and attention to detail.

The fuel-sipping hybrid makes a statement, with trademark Lexus sharp edges and a contrasting black roof.

An entry-level price tag of about $55,000 drive-away – undercutting the cheapest models from BMW, Audi and Mercedes-Benz by thousands – also helps.

The LBX Luxury has perforated leather-look seats with red stitching, heated front seats, a powered tailgate, matrix LED headlights, a surround view camera, wireless phone charger, 12.3-inch digital driver display and a 9.8-inch infotainment screen with wireless connectivity for both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The screen is smaller than many rivals, as the compact dashboard limits available real estate.

Lexus also offers buyers over-the-air software updates, remote connectivity via an app and a three-year subscription to Lexus Connected Services, allowing owners to monitor the vehicle and unlock it from afar.

The Sports Luxury (about $61,000) adds partial leather trim with orange stitching for a more youthful look. There are also suede-like finishes that complement the charcoals and blacks smattered elsewhere.

Other goodies include active noise cancelling, a head-up display, a 13-speaker Mark Levinson sound system and black design highlights outside.

The LBX powers the front wheels with a 1.5-litre three-cylinder hybrid system making 100kW. The 69kW/185Nm electric motor has more muscle than the 67kW/120Nm petrol engine. For another $4000 the Sports Luxury has an additional motor added to the rear wheels for all-wheel drive. The extra motor makes just 4.7kW/52Nm and doesn’t change the 100kW maximum output.

It also replaces the simpler torsion beam rear suspension system with a more advanced multi-link set-up.

The AWD set-up raises the boot floor and reduces capacity by 22 per cent to a compact 315 litres.

Space is also tight in the back, especially for legroom – and three across the rear would be ambitious. Headroom is OK, though, although the high window sills may leave toddlers peering at the sky. There’s no central arm rest in the rear and no rear air vents. Upfront accommodation is more generous and the powered driver’s seat with memory settings makes it easy to share the driving duties.

There are some clever storage areas beneath the floating centre console and sliding central arm rest.

The diminutive three-cylinder engine grumbles from a standstill but the torque of the electric motor makes for respectable around-town thrust.

On the freeway it holds its speed up hills, although there’s a dull drone as the revs rise.

No complaints about the claimed 3.8 litres of fuel per 100km, though.

Based on the underpinnings of the Toyota Yaris Cross, the LBX steps up the refinement, in part courtesy of double-glazed windows and additional sound deadening to hush the cabin.

Weighty steering adds some meat to the driving experience and it feels solid on the road. There’s ample cornering grip from the 18-inch tyres and when you wind up the pace it’s predictable and proficient.

The compact body adds to its nimble – if somewhat uninspiring – dynamics. But it’s the up-market flavour oozing throughout the cabin and the tempting price tag that makes the LBX worth considering for those shopping for a luxury ride.

Best keep it to two people, though.

The latest SUV from a famed German brand brings on road refinement and class that few can match, but there is a catch.

The first sports car from a fast growing brand is unlike any other machine on the road and it’ll be extremely cheap compared to competitors.

Defence Trade Controls Amendment Act 2024

The 2023 Defence Strategic Review made clear that Australia now faces the most complex set of strategic circumstances since the Second World War. To keep pace with these challenges, it is critical Australia has a robust export control regime.

In response to these changes in Australia’s strategic environment, the Parliament passed the Defence Trade Controls Amendment Act 2024 (the Act). This legislation will enhance the protection of Australian technology and information, as well as that of key partners.

The Act amends Australia’s defence export control framework by:

• supply of Defence and Strategic Goods List (DSGL) technology to a non ‑ exempt foreign person within Australia (section 10A).
• supply of goods and technology on Part 1 (Munitions) and Part 2 (Dual Use) ‘Sensitive’ and ‘Very Sensitive’ Lists of the DSGL, that was previously exported or supplied from Australia (section 10B).
• provision of DSGL services related to Part 1 of the DSGL to foreign nationals outside of Australia (section 10C).
• providing a national exemption to the United Kingdom (UK) and the United States (US) from Australia’s export control permit requirements under the Defence Trade Controls Act 2012 .

Australia’s export control framework is a permissive system designed to permit the responsible transfer of controlled goods and technology – these reforms do not change this underlying principle.

AUKUS licence-free environment

Australia, the UK and the US are streamlining the flow of defence trade between AUKUS partners to deepen our scientific, technological and industrial cooperation. This includes the creation of an export licence-free environment, which removes barriers to defence trade, collaboration, research and innovation between Australia, the UK and the US.

On 22 December 2023, President Biden signed into law the 2024 National Defense Authorization Act which provides Australia and the UK a full national exemption from US export control regulations (the International Traffic in Arms Regulations). This generational reform will be fundamental to enabling AUKUS through the licence-free environment.

This Act strikes a balance between protecting Australia’s national security and supporting economic prosperity and research collaboration by narrowing the scope of the Act to those items and activities that could prejudice Australia’s security, defence or international relations.

Under the new offences, Australian citizens who have dual citizenship will be treated the same as Australian citizens without dual citizenship.

The Act includes a number of exceptions to support Australian research and innovation and streamline trade with international partners beyond the UK and the US.

The Act provides certain exceptions for certain persons or activities linked to:

• AUKUS partners (sections 10A, 10B and 10C)
• Fundamental Research (sections 10A, 10B and 10C)
• Defence Trade Cooperation Treaty (sections 10A, 10B and 10C)
• Five Eyes (sections 10A, 10B and 10C)
• Australian Government employees (sections 10A, 10B and 10C)
• Foreign Country List (section 10A)
• Build-to-print (section 10A)
• Items returning to Australia (section 10B)
• Original manufacturers (section 10B)
• Firearms with serial numbers (section 10B)
• Lapsed timeframes (sections 10B)
• Grandfathered existing permits (sections 10B and 10C).

The full exceptions alongside each offence can be found in the Act and the explanatory memorandum. 

Education and guidance materials to support stakeholders to understand and interpret the offences and exceptions are being co-designed and developed with the Industry and Investment Working Group and Higher Education and Research Sector Working Group.

The Act commences within 6 months of receiving Royal Assent. The offences will come into effect a further 6 months after commencement of the Act.

Legislation

The legislation and explanatory memorandum can be viewed on the Parliament of Australia website .

Implementation

Defence has established 2 working groups to provide advice to Defence in relation to the Act and its implementation:

• the Industry and Investment working group
• the Higher Education and Research sector working group.

The working groups are made up of representatives from the peak bodies in each sector and individuals and organisations who have engaged with Defence during the development of the legislation.

The Government will consult with key stakeholders on the development of the regulations.

To ensure implementation is effective, Defence is:

• developing a suite of education and guidance materials for the Defence Export Controls website to support stakeholder decision-making on permit requirements
• co-designing online learning modules for the Defence Export Controls website with the Working Groups
• upgrading the ICT case management system to ensure it is user-friendly
• recruiting additional staff to process permit applications.

Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire Has Screened, And First Reactions Are Hailing The New MonsterVerse Offering As ‘An Absolute Slobberknocker’

Who's ready for some kaiju action?

Following the success of last year's Godzilla Minus One , there’s another kaiju film headed to theaters, and this is one fans have really been looking forward to. Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire — the fifth film in Legendary’s MonsterVerse franchise and a sequel to 2021’s Godzilla vs. Kong — is set to hit the big screen ( including IMAX ) on March 29, and those who have been able to catch an early screening are taking to social media with their first reactions.

Godzilla x Kong ’s trailer shows the monsters working together against an even bigger, scarier enemy. Let’s see what people are saying about this movie, which has garnered a PG-13 rating . SlashFilm’s Ben F. Silverio calls the monsters’ tag-team action “terrific,” advising moviegoers to opt for IMAX if possible. He writes on X (Twitter) : 

Godzilla x Kong is an absolute slobberknocker. A textbook blockbuster that deserves to be seen on the biggest screen possible. Just like playing with your favorite toys as a kid, this movie is a whole lot of fun.

In the movie Godzilla sports some dangerous-looking, fiery pink spikes — which are reportedly Toho-approved — and the vibrant color was one quality of director Adam Wingard ’s project that critics took notice of. Bill Bria writes : 

Godzilla x Kong is like an ‘80s cartoon come to life; this thing is so insanely colorful and toyetic, it’d shock Joel Schumacher. Collects a compelling coterie of non-humans in an AVATAR meets PLANET OF THE APES way, and as for humans, Dan Stevens is having a ball. So was I!

Griffin Schiller agrees that the ‘80s color palette makes for a fun experience, calling Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire “an absurdist romp.” The critic says : 

Godzilla x Kong is an ATOMIC BLAST! A fantastically weird, psychedelic trip through the Shōwa Era w/all the vibrance of an 80s album cover. This thing is an absurdist romp - crimson apes, frost dragons, a delightfully absurd Dan Stevens. Another FUN entry in the MonsterVerse!

That ‘80s aesthetic seems to be exactly what Adam Wingard is going for, as he was inspired by the decade’s buddy cop movies . This is evident by the wardrobe of at least one member of the Godzilla x Kong cast , as noted by Creepy Kingdom’s Shannon McGrew. She writes : 

Godzilla x Kong is a momentous spectacle that dazzles with its vibrant technicolor visuals. The epic battles btwn the titans are jaw-dropping and are accompanied by a story with a gargantuan heart. Plus, there’s Dan Stevens flexing in a Hawaiian shirt for 2 hours.

Brian Tyree Henry and Dan Stevens may be really funny in this monster movie, but make no mistake who the stars are. As Bernard “Beanz” Smalls says : 

Godzilla x Kong is nonstop/fun Kaiju action that fans of monster movies love. Both Godzilla and Kong take centerstage in this latest entry in Legendary’s evolving Monsterverse. Brian Tyree Henry & Dan Stevens are fun together. But this movie belongs to the giant monsters.

Rafael Motamayor has high praise for the latest MonsterVerse offering, for one monster in particular, writing :

I think Godzilla x Kong may be my favorite of the MonsterVerse movies? It feels like the most complete movie, and everything worked for me. Kong in particular is a fucking star.

While some enjoy the human actors, others think the movie is monster-centric to a fault. John Nguyen of Nerd Reactor says: 

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is a fun ride with Godzilla and Kong back at it again. It's another reason to see these two Titans smash and bash monsters and destroy cities. Skar King had promise but wasn't threatening overall. The human story was forgettable.

Michael Lee agrees, writing that the human drama is pushed to the backburner in favor of more kaiju action. And that’s probably fine, as that’s what people want to see, he writes in a thread on X: 

Godzilla x Kong is a noisy titan brawl with hardly any human heart to engage us on an emotional level. But audiences coming for the fights alone are getting a supremely awesome tag team match between Godzilla and Kong vs Skar King and Shimo.

Even though the legal battle between Sandy Hook families and the conspiracy theorist Alex Jones has been thoroughly covered , it is still hard to watch him in the documentary “The Truth vs. Alex Jones” without experiencing a wave of nausea.

Directed by Dan Reed ( “Leaving Neverland” ), the film methodically lays out the horrors that families in Newtown, Conn., faced on Dec. 14, 2012, when a gunman killed 20 first graders and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary . Parents of the victims share memories from that morning before their children left for school. Daniel Jewiss, the lead investigator, walks viewers through how the slaughter unfolded.

Then the documentary shows how, just as the parents were dealing with unfathomable grief, Jones, through his Infowars broadcasts, began promoting the idea that the shooting was a hoax. As he continued to spread falsehoods, people who latched on to such claims harassed the families. Robbie Parker, whose daughter Emilie was killed at Sandy Hook, describes the harassment as coming in waves. “It was almost like I knew when Alex Jones said something,” he says in testimony excerpted in the film.

If there is value in seeing these events recapped, it is in the power of seeing the parents confront Jones in court. (Over two trials, in Texas and Connecticut, they won more than $1 billion in damages .) It is also in the horror of seeing just how confidently Jones deflects questions and tries to steer proceedings to his advantage — denying the families what Alissa Parker, Emilie’s mother, calls “a moment of reflection” from him.

“The Truth vs. Alex Jones” offers a lesson in just how vicious and pervasive conspiracy theories can become and a chilling portrait of how little they may trouble their purveyors.

Here's what you should know about the Key Bridge collapse

Officials recovered the bodies of two construction workers who were on Baltimore's Francis Scott Key Bridge when it collapsed early Tuesday morning after a 984-foot-long cargo ship collided into a pillar.

Maryland Gov. Wes Moore called the collapse Wednesday " a global crisis ."

"The national economy and the world's economy depends on the Port of Baltimore. The port handles more cars and more farm equipment than any other port in the country," Moore said.

Here's what you should know:

• The victims: The six people who are presumed dead were from Mexico Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras, according to Col. Roland L. Butler Jr, the superintendent of Maryland State Police. Two bodies were recovered and have been identified as Alejandro Hernandez Fuentes from Mexico and Dorlian Ronial Castillo Cabrera from Guatemala. The two workers were filling potholes on the bridge and were later found trapped in a red pickup truck in about 25 feet of water, Butler said. The FBI is handling notifying the victims' families, Butler said.
• Recovery efforts: Authorities are pausing search efforts for the four other workers who are presumed dead, because additional vehicles are encased in concrete and other debris, making it unsafe for divers, Butler said. Once salvage operations clear the debris, divers will search for more remains, he said.
• The investigation: The National Transportation Safety Board is leading the investigation into the fatal incident, according to the agency's chair Jennifer Homendy. During a Wednesday news conference, Homendy said there were 21 crew members and two pilots on board the Dali cargo ship when it crashed into the bridge. She also said a senior NTSB hazmat investigator identified 56 containers of hazardous material, and that some containers are in the water. The agency received six hours of voyage data from the ship and the investigation could take 12 to 24 months to complete, Homendy said. She emphasized that NTSB will not analyze information collected or provide conclusions while on scene of the collapse.
• Looking forward: Department of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said rebuilding the bridge will not be "quick or easy" but that it will get done. He said there are four main focus points ahead: reopening the port, dealing with supply chain issues until its reopening, rebuilding the bridge and dealing with traffic issues until the bridge is rebuilt. Biden  pledged the full support  of the federal government in the response and recovery efforts. His administration has already conveyed a sense of urgency to open up federal funding to remove debris and ultimately rebuild the bridge. Maryland has submitted a request to the Biden administration for emergency relief funds "to assist in our work going forward," Moore said Wednesday.

It's almost impossible to place people on the bow of ship due to the unstable structure, fire official says

Baltimore City Fire Chief James Wallace said Wednesday that the cargo ship's bridge structure and containers at the bow remain unstable.

"It's going to be very difficult, if not impossible, and very dangerous, to place people on the bow of that boat right now," Wallace told CNN's Kaitlan Collins.

"Naturally, we're still very cognizant of the fact that there are hazardous materials on board the vessel itself," Wallace said, alluding to the National Transportation Safety Board saying earlier that 56 containers were carrying hazardous materials.

Wallace said his team is relying heavily on aerial recognizance, including drones. "That's the only way we're able to see in," he said.  

He added that the aerial surveillance has "been able to really assure us right now we have no [chemical] reactions on board." 

"It's just utter devastation," NTSB chief says of the bridge collapse site

Jennifer Homendy, chair of the National Transportation Safety Board, called the site of the Key Bridge collapse "devastating."

"It's pretty devastating, certainly, seeing not just what's going on with the cargo containers, but just looking at what was a bridge span — three bridge spans that is pretty much gone. It's just utter devastation," she said at Wednesday evening's news briefing.

She added that she is thinking of families who lost loved ones and those who are waiting to reunite with their lived ones.

NTSB interviewed the Dali's captain and some other crew members today, agency chief says

The National Transportation Safety Board has interviewed the ship's captain, his mate, the chief engineer and one other engineer today, according to Chair Jennifer Homendy.

The two pilots on board the Dali at the time of collision will be interviewed tomorrow, she added.

Cargo ship's voyage data recorder is basic when compared to an airplane's, NTSB chair says

The voyage data recorder on the cargo ship Dali was a "newer model" but is considered basic when compared to that on an airplane, according to National Transportation Safety Board Chair Jennifer Homendy.

"But it is very basic compared to say, a flight data recorder, where we would have 1,000 parameters," she said at a news conference on Wednesday.

The NTSB chief investigator Marcel Muise added:

"It's not a ship-wide system recorder, so most of the sensors that are being recorded are from the bridge. So things like GPS, the audio, rudder feedback, rudder commands are recorded on there. But not engineering, the temperature of each cylinder, power distribution sensors."

There were no tug boats with Dali at the time of the collision. That's normal, NTSB chief says

There were no tugs with Dali when the cargo vessel collided with Baltimore's Key Bridge, which is normal protocol, according to National Transportation Safety Board Chair Jennifer Homendy.

Remember: At 01:26:39 on Tuesday, Dali's pilot made a general very high frequency (VHF) radio call for tugs in the vicinity to assist, the NTSB investigator Marcel Muise had said.

"The tugs help the vessel leave the dock, leave the port and get into the main ship channel. And then they leave. Once it's on its way, it's a straight shot through the channel. So there are no tugs with the vessel at the time. So they were calling for tugs," she said.

NTSB chair says she saw some containers that were carrying hazardous materials in the water

National Transportation Safety Board Chair Jennifer Homendy said she did see some of the 56 containers that were carrying hazardous materials in the water.

When asked how many

When asked how many containers of hazardous materials were in the water, Homendy said:

"I did see some containers in the water, and some breached significantly on the vessel itself," she said. "I don't have an exact number, but it's something that we can provide in an update."

Homendy said that a preliminary report should be out in two to four weeks.

Bridge did not have any redundancy, unlike the preferred method for building bridges today, NTSB chair says

Baltimore's Key Bridge did not have any redundancy, which is included in the preferred method of building bridges in the present day, according to National Transportation Safety Board Chair Jennifer Homendy.

"The bridge is a fracture critical," she explained. "What that means is if a member fails that would likely cause a portion of, or the entire bridge, to collapse, there's no redundancy. The preferred method for building bridges today is that there is redundancy built in, whether that's transmitting loads to another member or some sort of structural redundancy. This bridge did not have redundancy," Homendy said.

There are 17,468 fracture critical bridges in the United States out of 615,000 bridges total, she said, citing the Federal Highway Administration.
