5th grade Autobiography Unit

5th grade Autobiography Unit

This is a lesson plan can be used to add technology to your classroom. Students will creae an Narrative autobiography in both a media form and a 5 paragraph essay.

Students will be writing an autobiography in an in person lesson that requires them to learn and understand steps of an autobiography, publish a written copy, and publish a form of technology to go along with their lesson that will be presented to the class. Students can use pages, iMovie, or Garageband to create their technology piece.

Background for Teachers

To teach this lesson you will need an understanding of the 5th grade writing process as well as what needs to be taught to teach autobiography writing. You will also need a basic understanding of how to use pages, iMovie, and Garageband.

Step 1 - Goals and Outcomes

Step 1: Goals and Outcomes

Students will be able to write a 5 paragraph autobiography and present their life story to the class using a form of media/technology.

Writing Standard 3

Write narratives to develop real or imagined experiences or events using effective technique, descriptive details, and clear event sequences.

Orient the reader by establishing a situation and introducing a narrator and/or characters; organize an event sequence that unfolds naturally.

Use narrative techniques, such as dialogue, description, and pacing, to develop experiences and events or show the responses of characters to situations.

Use a variety of transitional words, phrases, and clauses to manage the sequence of events.

Use concrete words and phrases and sensory details to convey experiences and events precisely.

Provide a conclusion that follows from the narrated experiences or event

Writing Standard 6

With some guidance and support from adults, use technology, including the Internet, to produce and publish writing as well as to interact and collaborate with others; demonstrate sufficient command of keyboarding skills to type a minimum of two pages in a single sitting.

Step 2 - Planning Instruction

Prior to beginning their autobiographies tell students that an autobiography tells the story of someone’s life written by that person. To get ideas flowing about their own life students can create an ABC list of things about themselves. Ex. A is for apples which is my favorite fruit. U is for Utah because that is where I live. Students could create this using words or pictures.

Step 3 - Instruction

Students will fill out a graphic organizer to plan their autobiographies. They should start with a brainstorm where they can reflect on who they are and what they want to include in their autobiography. Remind students they will be telling their life story in narrative form. When they tell the story it will flow in order from their first part of life, growing up, their family, to their next part of life like school, and friends, etc.

Things they can brainstorm:

Family Members

Favorite Family Memory

Hopes and Dreams for the Future

Interesting Facts about themselves

Schools attended and teachers

Current Hobbies and Talents

Favorite School Memories

Favorite things like; food, sport, school subject, candy, TV show, movie, book, restaurant, music, super hero. Etc…

Remind students a narrative should include:

Beginning: This is where you will introduce yourself. Remember you are to tell the story of your life, so go in chronological order. Tell events in the order they happened.

Middle: Each body paragraph will progress to different major events in your life. Start with your family, school and friends, and end with what makes you unique. Remember to keep this in a narrative story-like format, of your life.

End: This is the conclusion of your autobiography. Here you wrap up your thoughts and leave lasting impressions with your reader.

Their 5 paragraph graphic organizer should include:

Introduction: Introduce my name, age and where I was born. Include one or two interesting facts about myself.

First,

This paragraph will be about my family. Dad and Mom, brothers and sisters. Tell a story about a favorite family memory.

Next,

This is about school and friends.

Then,

What makes me unique? Interesting story about something that has happened to me,

In conclusion,

Where am I currently in life? What am I doing daily? Activities, jobs, sports…

*Once their graphic organizers are complete they will type a final copy.

Last:

Students can use ipads, computers, or class ipods to take pictures of the things they want to use in their digital presentation. They may also bring pictures from home that they may want to use. Baby pictures, family events, etc.

Students can then choose if they want to create a flyer in pages of their life, an imovie with pictures and descriptions of their life, or a podcast recorded reading of them telling their life story in Garageband.

Step 4 - Assessments

Attached is a Rubric for the students 5 paragraph autobiography as well as the Rubric for their media presentation. Part of their assessment will also be presenting to the class. This is attached to the media presentation rubric.

The Structure of an Autobiographical Essay | Format

While the precise format of an autobiography may vary, it is crucial to adhere to some fundamental principles when writing an autobiography essay for Class 1 – 12 CBSE. Just like any other essay, an autobiographical piece should consist of three key components: introduction, body, and conclusion.

Let us explore each section:

Introduction

The introduction serves three main purposes: introducing the reader to the topic, presenting the core idea, and capturing the reader’s attention. Keep this section concise, typically spanning one to three sentences. To create an engaging introduction, consider outlining your general portrait and making an intriguing statement that entices the reader to continue reading.

The body constitutes the central and most extensive part of your autobiography essay, as it talks about your life story. Unlike the introduction or conclusion, the body has no specific length requirements. You can make it as long as necessary to highlight the important experiences that have shaped your perspective and opinions. However at the same, it is crucial to adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Ensure a well-structured approach, dedicating each paragraph to a specific event or period.
  • Prioritize clarity, ensuring that your text is easy to read and understand.
  • Maintain logical coherence, presenting facts in a sequential manner with smooth transitions between paragraphs.

While the introduction engages readers and invites them into your story, the conclusion leaves a lasting impression. To conclude your autobiography effectively, consider reflecting on your life, the lessons you’ve learned, and how they have influenced your current position. Similar to the introduction, keep your conclusion concise and clear , ensuring it contributes to a compelling narrative.

Creating a captivating title page is important while crafting an engaging story. There are some commonly accepted rules that Students need to follow.

It important that students understand what are the information that typically appears on a title page:

  • Phone number

 Autobiography of a Yogi

Hello Everyone! My name is Ram, and today I want to share with you my journey as a yogi with you.

Ever since I was a little boy, the stories of Yogi and other Sadhus have always fascinated me. They brought over a feeling of mystery and faith in my life. Furthermore, the concepts of spiritual peace and understanding the human body have also been my greatest passions.

I first came in contact with Yoga in my school, at just the small age of 9. I was unaware of the various benefits and how the practice would eventually have a positive impact on my life. Without knowing how my future would turn out to be I started practicing and learning about Yoga. As this included studying and combining two of my favorite passions together.

As days went past and I started to get deeper into Yoga and started learning each of the intricacies of the practice. I slowly got completely hooked on it. My passion for Yoga started to increase as every morning I used to wake up and with excitement and motivation I used to practice Yoga for hours on end.

Autobiography of a Newspaper Photo credit: shuttermaster from morguefile.com

Just out of the printing press I smell wonderful. I smell strongly of ink and I am also very warm to hold. Its not just me though. Even my friends smella and feel the same. That’s why they are my family. This is my first day of life. My excitement undeniable. I am now stacked on top of my friends and bound by a rope. We are flung into the back of a van and thus my journey begins. Its a bumpy ride to my desined home. Ahh… the thought of a home warms my heart. Suddenly, the van stops with a jerk. I hear noises and then the door is flung open. My friends and I are pulled forward and then flung out of the van on to hard ground. It took me few minutes to realise that this isn’t home. It can’t be! Just then we were lifted of the ground and placed on the basket of a bike. I hoped once again to be home soon. I enjoyed the bike ride as wind flew through my folds. It was cold yet great. Then, yet again we stopped. Tring tring. A bell rang from very near me it almost made me jump. Then I was ripped from the stack and thrown. Fear was all over me. What was happening? It seemed like forever as I went flying through the air. Finally I slowed and neared ground. I fell and slid a few paces before coming to stop right in front of the front door of a house. I stared at that door and felt a new found happiness. I was home.

I lay there waiting, it seemed like hours. Was I not wanted at my new home. I was beginning to feel disappointed and rejected when the door flew open and I was picked up. I was opened and admired. I was caresser so softly I wanted to cry. Everyone wanted to see me. They wanted a peek at all the secrets I hold dear. I let them. I let them know me inside out. They were my family.

But as night came by, I have been sitting on the table for hours. They have lost interest in me. I began to panic. I didn’t know what to do. Finally I was once again lifted and held close to a heart. Just as I was getting used to feeling of being loved I was dropped on the floor of a very dark and congested room. I looked to my side and so many others like me. Dirty, old and crumpled. I was no different. As sadness enveloped my little heart I fell into deep sleep.

Next morning, I was awokened by loud voices. It was a new day, a new beginning. I could only hope. The door to the dark room was opened and in the blink of an eye I was pulled out. Tiny hands held me and waved me around so much my head started to spin. But a little girl cannot be blamed. She wouldn’t know what to do. Suddenly I felt a stabbing pain on my side. A bit of me had been ripped of to wipe a window. I felt pain again and more of me had been ripped of to clean a spilt drink off of a table. I wanted to crybout and ask them to stop, but I couldn’t. I couldn’t make a sound.

Finally when I was done for, I was crumpled up and thrown into a garbage bin. I stayed there, amongst dirt and other things. I no longer smelled of the wonderful ink, I no longer felt warm. I was dumped out with the rest of the garbage and sorted. I was thrown into a pile with all kinds of papers. We were then taken to be recycled. We were wet and turned to pulp. We were left our under the sun to dry. I knew all along what my fate would be. A was meant to be a newspaper once again…

Autobiography of a Bird – Short Essay

Category: Essays and Paragraphs On January 9, 2019 By Ananda

I am a bird. I am writing my autobiography, to thank god for the good life he has given me. My mother gave me birth in a warm nest above the branch of a huge banyan tree. I hatched with two of my brothers. Life was very good. Mother used to feed me every day. She used to bring worms and insects for me and my brothers. The tree was more than a home for us. It was the reason for our survival. It covered us from the heat, protected us in the rains, and gave us warmth in the winters.

I grew up very fast because my mother used to feed me well. She used to set out from the tree every day just to bring us plump worms for us so that we grow up fast! My mother slowly started pushing me towards taking my first flight . I was very frightened even thinking about the fact that I had to fly. My brothers were excited but I was very tentative. My mother encouraged me to have my first jump. I closed my eyes and had a jump. I flapped my wings with all the might and, when I opened my eyes, I was flying!

Soon, my brothers also learnt to fly. We used to play together all around the place. We used to frolic and play around with our wings. For fun, we used to race with each other, and I always used to win. We were known as the stunt performers in the world of birds. We used to turn and flip and dip and dance in the air.

I was the eldest of the brothers so, I had to take care of my brothers. I used to protect them from possible threats like eagles and vultures. I am writing this autobiography, sitting in my nest with my brothers. Life is very good. Thanks to god.

Autobiography of a River 1500 words

I am Ganga, the sacred river of India. I am a living entity that has flowed through the heart of this ancient land for millennia. My waters are not just a source of sustenance, they are a reflection of the spiritual and cultural heritage of this great nation. In this autobiographical journey, I will take you through the aeons of history. The tales of civilizations and the timeless connection that the people of India have had with me.

My journey begins high in the Himalayas, in a place known as Gangotri. It is nestled in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. It is here, at an altitude of over 10,000 feet, that I emerge from the Gangotri Glacier as a pristine swiftly flowing stream. My birth is a symbol of purity. I start my descent carving my path through the rugged terrain.

In the ancient scriptures, my descent is associated with the story of King Bhagirath. He undertook rigorous penance to bring my waters to the earth’s surface to purify the souls of his ancestors. Lord Shiva, moved by his devotion, agreed to bear the force of my fall upon his head. Then I descended gently onto the earth. This legend symbolizes the deep spiritual connection woven into my waters since time immemorial.

I continue my journey through the northern plains of India. Then I come into contact with various civilizations and cultures. The cities and towns along my banks become centres of learning and spirituality. I feed the fertile lands and support the growth of agriculture. Thus contribute to the prosperity of the region

Varanasi is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world. It holds a special place in my heart. The ghats along my banks in Varanasi are sites of profound religious significance. Pilgrims come from far and wide to perform rituals. They cremate their loved ones and take a dip in my holy waters to cleanse their sins. The ghats are the Eden of the timeless rituals and spirituality that define the essence of India.

My waters are believed to possess healing properties both physical and spiritual. People believe that bathing in my waters is an act of purification. People also said that my currents can cleanse the soul of impurities. Temples and ashrams dot my banks offering solace to those seeking spiritual awakening and peace.

In recent years, my journey has been full of challenges. The growing population, industrialization and pollution have taken a toll on the purity of my waters. Efforts are being made to address these issues with initiatives to clean and rejuvenate me. But the battle is ongoing. My story is a reminder of the delicate balance between human progress and environmental preservation.

In the 1980s, the Indian government launched the Ganga Action Plan to address the pollution of my waters. This initiative aimed to reduce the discharge of untreated sewage and industrial waste into the river. While progress has been made much work remains to be done to restore me to my pristine state.

Faith and conservation have often gone hand in hand along my banks. Initiatives like the “Namami Gange” programme were launched by the Indian government. It combines scientific and spiritual approaches to protect and rejuvenate my waters. This program seeks to involve communities, govt bodies, religious institutions and environmental organizations in the mission to clean and preserve me.

My journey has inspired countless poets, writers and artists. My waters have been immortalized in literature and art. I continue to be a muse for those who seek to capture the essence of India’s cultural and spiritual heritage.

As I flow through the plains of India, I continue to carry with me the stories, traditions and hopes of millions. My waters are a source of life and spirituality for the people of this land. I am Ganga, a river that has witnessed the rise and fall of civilizations, a witness to the ever-changing landscape of India.

I continue my journey eastward. Then I approach the vast delta region where I meet the Bay of Bengal. The Ganges Delta, known as the Sundarbans, is one of the largest in the world. It’s a region of immense ecological significance. It was teemed with diverse flora and fauna. The mangrove forests of the Sundarbans are home to the endangered Royal Bengal tiger, making this area a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

In this region, I am more than a river; I am a lifeline. Millions of people in India and Bangladesh depend on me for their livelihoods. They use my waters for agriculture, fishing and transportation. The fertile soil in this delta is a result of centuries of silt deposition. Thus I make it one of the most productive agricultural regions in the world.

My journey is closely tied to the monsoon season. Every year, as the monsoon winds sweep across the Indian subcontinent, they bring heavy rains that swell my waters. The monsoon rains are a blessing, recharging my flow and rejuvenating the lands along my banks. However, they can also bring devastation in the form of floods, challenging the resilience of the communities that depend on me.

The Ganges is not only a source of life but also a river closely associated with death. In Varanasi , the city of light, the ghats along my banks are also the sites of cremation ceremonies. Hindus believe that cremating the deceased by my waters ensures a direct path to moksha or liberation from the cycle of reincarnation. The rituals performed here are deeply spiritual, a reminder of the cyclical nature of life and death.

My journey doesn’t end at India’s eastern border. I flow into Bangladesh where I continue to be a lifeline for the people and wildlife of the region. Bangladesh relies on my waters for agriculture, transportation and as a source of drinking water. In the deltaic regions of Bangladesh, my waters create intricate networks of rivers and channels and form a unique and dynamic ecosystem.

I have been a source of life for millions. But I have also faced severe challenges in recent times. Pollution from industrial discharge and untreated sewage, as well as deforestation and over-extraction of groundwater, threaten my health and vitality. These challenges necessitate a collaborative effort from both India and Bangladesh to protect and restore my waters.

Despite the challenges, there is hope. Both India and Bangladesh recognize the need to conserve and rejuvenate me. Efforts are being made to treat wastewater before it enters my flow. Awareness campaigns are promoted for responsible environmental practices. Conservationists and scientists are working tirelessly to ensure that I remain a source of life for future generations.

As I conclude my autobiography, I want to emphasize that I am more than just a river. I am a symbol of life, spirituality and culture. My journey has been long and eventful. I have touched the lives of countless people. I continue to be a source of inspiration, a lifeline for communities and a reminder of the oneness of all living beings.

In my waters, I carry the stories, hopes, and aspirations of millions. I am Ganga, the eternal river, and my journey will continue, ever-flowing, ever-adapting and ever-inspiring.

Autobiography of a Pen – Essay 1

My name is pen and I am item of daily use for everybody and sundry. You can find me in the bags, offices and every imaginable place for the students. It’s too common to be thinking about the pen.  I agree that I am too cheap and common to make any difference, but acquaintances.

People of every country use me today. People can write on paper according to their requirements, with my help. If I had not been there, nobody in the world would have read and written, nor would there would be the light of knowledge.

Children who are the future of the country start their studies with me and learn to write only with the help of mine. It gives me a kind of happiness that I am helping to make someone’s future.

Not only kids but also journalists use me to write the news. Journalists write their news by using me, and the same news appears in the newspaper the next day. Because of this news, awareness remains within society, and society gets to know about the changes that are taking place around them. I am pleased that I am working to make society aware of this as well.

Other than these two uses of mine, according to their needs people of all ages use me. Everybody uses me whether they are old or a child. Everyone keeps me in his or her pocket, so I do not get lost here and there.

Every day of your life, you use a pen. You think of me and seek me every time you want to remember something important. I have become an integral part of your everyday life; you carry me everywhere, just in case you need to take note of it.

I see many of my newer brothers thrown out after the source of their lives has run out. But I am one exception. Unlike them, my source of life can be replenished and used again. It is a loop without end. I saw a lot of things in my life, studied the ocean, wrote hundreds of poems and stories, and saw many people walking by. I remember all of them, but I’m still here on this desk, watching.

History of pen

It is a long story. I used to be made of wood in ancient times and dipped myself in tar to write on paper. Yet times have changed, and my most recent form today is a ball pen. The journey from a piece of wood to a ball pen is not as short as you can understand, I had to go through a lot of development for this, and after that, I was able to reach my most existing form today.

Initiation of mine

The first thing I remember was the factory assembly line. People used to bring parts of me together by hand. They put a protective casing around my sensitive cage of ink. People then added an intricately carved nib point, where the ink flowed through. I knew I was placed in a padded case with foam and moved on.

I remember traveling hours in a transport vehicle’s back. I could hear other peoples and nearby surroundings, but I couldn’t speak because I had enough sources of life scarcely to sustain ourselves. The car stopped after hours and hours of traveling, and there was shock all around me. I could hear one by one my brothers were being taken.

Then, it was my opportunity. They put me along with my brothers again after a lot of moving time. After a couple of minutes, we felt elevated. It was only after I heard about moving people that I knew we were on an airplane. We’ve been even less time in the sun. It is easier to fly by air. We were then unloaded and taken to stores.

The shop I got into was enormous. It was well maintained, with rows to sell fancy items. I was placed on my case, in a glass display. I was a different type, a more expensive customized piece. So I mostly watched people take my brother’s home.

They would be interested in me and my design, but they would still be driven away by the price. But since I was genuinely proud of my appearance, it didn’t matter. I felt special. Then came my day. In the shop came a wealthy merchant, who saw me and he had to have me. He brought me home, proud to own me.

Life as a ‘Pen’

Wealthy mechant would initially refuse to use me to document, fearing that he would ruin my intricate carvings and smooth edges.  He didn’t know that the longer he waited, the more depleted my life essence became. I grew weaker every day.

I knew everything about records, the everyday things happening all around me, and the world, before long. The merchant never forgot to take me, and never forgot to replenish my source of life.

Throughout my life, I met many of my kind, but nobody stayed for a long time. They had started making cheaper pens, which I would still feel broken after a single-use, seeing those poor souls waiting for their fate, not being able to do anything to save them. Cruel, isn’t it? Since birth to be branded expendable.

Everything I thought I survived even my master, the merchant, his friend, his grandkids, and more. Now I am talking to you, you who inherited me.

My ink is multi-colored. But I’m used more in the blue, black and red inks. A blue ink pen is considered best for writing something while the teacher uses a red ink pen to write, and the title is written by a black ink pen.

Use me wisely, young man, for I have wisdom beyond your understanding. I have presently and experience. I am also sure that I will mold your future, your life ahead of you. I hope you will understand the obligation that you have been granted.

You can shift your future and make the future of this world whether better or worse? That is your preference, as I am obliged to make your offer. However, I hope you will do the world well, just like your ancestors.

Essay on Autobiography of a Pen – Essay 2

You use me every day of your life. Every time you want to remember something important, you think of me and search for me. I’ve become an integral part of your daily life, carrying me around everywhere, just in case you need to take a note.

I see many of my newer brothers tossed out after their life source has run out. But I’m an exception. Unlike them, my life source can be refilled and used again. It’s an endless cycle. I’ve seen a lot in my life, learnt an ocean, written hundreds of poems and stories, and seen a lot of people pass by. I remember them all, but I remain here on this desk, still observing.

The first thing I remember was the assembly line in the factory. People were putting together pieces of me by hand. They put a protective casing around my delicate ink cage. Then they added an intricately carved nib point, through which the ink flowed. Next I knew, I was placed in a foam padded case, and moved along.

I remember hours of travelling in the back of a transport vehicle. I could hear others, but we couldn’t speak because we barely had enough life sources to sustain ourselves. After hours and hours of travelling, the vehicle stopped and there was commotion all around me. I could hear my brothers being taken one by one.

Then it was my chance. After a lot of moving time, they again put me with my brothers. After a few minutes we felt were airborne. It was only after I had learnt about human transportation, which I realised that we were on an aeroplane. We were in the air for far less a time. Apparently air travel is faster. Then we were unloaded and taken to shops.

The shop that I got into was huge. It was well lit and maintained, with rows of fancy products for sale. I was placed in a glass display, on my case. Apparently I was a different type, a customised more expensive piece. So I mostly saw people taking home my brothers

They’d be interested in me, and my design, but the price would always drive them away. But it didn’t matters since I was really proud of my appearance, I felt special. Then my day came. A wealthy merchant came in the shop, saw me and he had to have me. He took me home, proud to own me.

Life being a pen

At first he would refuse to use me to write, fearing he might ruin my intricate carvings and smooth edges. Little did he know that the longer he waited, the more my life essence was getting depleted? I grew weaker day by day.

Then one day he gathered enough courage to dip my inner in Ink, my life source. I felt a surge of life go through me. I was alive finally, the way I was made to be. That day onwards, he used me for everything, writing everything down, just to show me off. I am learning every day.

Before long, I knew everything about Accounts, the daily events occurring all around me, and the world. The merchant never forgot to take me, never forgot to refill my life source.

I met many of my kind throughout my life, but no one stayed for long. Apparently they had started making cheaper pens, which could be thrown after a single use I would always feel broken, seeing those sad souls waiting for their fate, not being able to do anything to save them. Isn’t it cruel? To be labelled as expendable since birth.

The present

I’ve outlived everyone I’ve known. Even my master, the merchant, his son, his grandchildren and further more. Now I’m speaking to you, you, who have inherited me.

Use me wisely, young one, for I have wisdom beyond your comprehension. I have knowledge of the present and the past. I’m even sure I can shape your future, your life that’s ahead of you. I hope you realise the responsibility you’ve been bestowed with.

Essay on ‘Autobiography of a Tree’ for Students in English

January 3, 2021 by Sandeep

Essay on Autobiography of a Tree: Trees are important sources of life on earth facilitating air, rainfall, wood, flowers, fruits and other essential commodities to mankind. A tree travels through different growth stages in its lifetime from a tender sapling to a huge adult tree. They change their appearances according to the seasons.

Essay on Autobiography of a Tree

Below we have provided Autobiography of a Tree Essay in English, suitable for class 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 school students.

“Trees are the poems that the earth writes upon the sky.” ~Kahlil Gibran

Situated near a temple in a village, I am a Peepal tree. I have lived for so many decades that now it is tough or even impossible for me to remember my exact and true age. I have so many brothers and sisters around me in this peaceful little village. Most of them are quite younger to me and also smaller in size. Their names are Banyan tree, Tamarind tree and Jamun tree. I love the lively chatting of the village ladies and the innocent giggles of the young children. I never feel alone or lonely here.

Just like the children playing with marbles, I was once a child myself, what you humans call as a plant. Slowly and steadily, with the help of water and sunlight, I became a giant tree. I still remember the purpose for which I was put on this earth. I have a significant responsibility towards humanity. I provide fresh oxygen to all living organisms while taking in all the harmful carbon dioxide gas at the same time. This process is known as photosynthesis.

Most trees release oxygen during the day and exhale carbon dioxide at night, just like human beings. But that is not the case with me. I give out plenty of fresh oxygen even in the night- time. My roots hold enormous amounts of water to prevent soil erosion and massive flooding. I also provide shade to passer-byes, travellers and the everyday village folks. I and my brothers and sisters are responsible for maintaining cool temperatures as well.

We bring ample rainfall to the village and feel happy when the farmers harvest their crops in abundance. I also provide a cure to more than 50 disorders with the help of my leaves, roots, bark, etc. The milk derived from my heart-shaped leaves can be used to cure eye pain. I also help in curing other diseases like diarrhoea, asthma, gastric problems, etc.

Whenever people come to visit the temple, they worship me as well. They tie a red thread around my trunk and take three rounds circling me. They also light a small earthen lamp near my roots and say their wishes and desires for God to listen. I am considered to be a holy tree in Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism. My roots represent Lord Brahma, my trunk represents Lord Vishnu, and my leaves represent Lord Shiva.

I am also known by other names such as Vasudeva and the Chaitanya tree. On Saturdays, people come in large quantities to water me. The reason behind it is that it is believed that Lord Vishnu and his other half, Goddess Laxmi resides in me every Saturday. It is also believed that Gautam Buddha attained enlightenment while meditating under a Peepal Tree. People worship me because they think that it will bring happiness, good luck and lots of wealth in their life.

People sit around me almost all day, and I can even listen to their stories and chit chat. I get to know about all that happens in the village and sometimes, even outside of it. I see mothers cuddling their children and helping them take a bath. Sometimes I wish I were a human so that even I could experience and feel what a mother’s love is. I feel thankful to have been born in a place where people are so kind to each other and me.

Autobiography of a River – for Students and Kids

Autobiography of the River Ganga

Autobiography of a River: In this article, I am going to learn how to write an Autobiography of the river Ganga. So, let’s get started.

Autobiography of a River

I rose from a glacier known as Gangotri in the Himalayas thousands of years ago. Then came cascading down the mountains in a torrent. I flowed over the rocky bed, forming tiny rivulets, springs and streams. My water was icy-cold but absolutely clear and pure. My water swelled when the snow melted. l was proud, triumphant, and majestic. The Hindus consider me to be the holy river and worship me.

Autobiography of a River

In the course of my long journey to the sea, I reached the plains and become a broad river with a slow but steady flow. About 130 miles from its source, I was united with the river Alaknanda and then touched the plains, near Haridwar. I am a fair-sized stream of clear, blue water there. From Haridwar, I flow to Allahabad where I embrace the Jamuna which originates in Garhwal in the Himalayas. The confluence of our waters is a place of pilgrimage. After leaving Allahabad, I flow eastwards to Varanasi, the city of temples. I move past Ghazipur, Patna, Munger and meet the great river, Brahmaputra, 140 miles away from the sea. the to form the biggest delta in the world, Sundarbans. On my western bank, stands the Hooghly, and on my eastern bank stands the great city of Kolkata. However, my long journey comes to an end when I reach the vast sea.

Also Read: Autobiography of a Tree

It was only when I reached the big cities that my troubles began. Man has made factories and the wastes were disposed into my water. My flow was clogged. My waters were polluted. I was no longer clean and pure. The life that was harbouring within me since I was born is now perishing. The fishes which I love and nurture like a mother slowly began to die.

However, I flow through the plains till I reach the ocean, which is my destination. I have been a silent witness to the history of human civilization through the ages. Time devours everything, but still I exist to experience the days to come.

Autobiography Essay On A Shirt

Students in class 5 will learn to write an autobiography of an object. This chapter elucidates an autobiography essay on a shirt. Students can also check autobiography essays like that of a pencil or a tree.

How to Write an Autobiography Essay on a Shirt?

A shirt is a kind of clothing usually used by all age groups, be it young, old or adults, or children, for casual and formal occasions. Imagine yourself as a shirt, as that would make the essay much easier to write. Let us have a look at the points to consider while writing a composition on a day in the life of a shirt.

Elements of Autobiography Essay

While drafting your composition, make sure the beginning has an interesting introduction. You can start with a dialogue or a rhetorical question. You can also provide a little information about yourself, for instance, your birth, location, etc.

As you draft the body paragraphs, make sure you add all the details of the life experiences you have gone through. For instance, various stages of life, can include the manufacturing stage in a factory, packaging, transporting, purchasing by a customer, and wearing it on a special day. You can also include personal information such as your appearance, colour, texture, and so on.

A concluding paragraph should be where you restate all the points in short and close it. You may add life lessons learnt. You can make it a little different too. For example, you can write about how you were recycled and reused by others and so on.

Autobiography Sample: Account of a Shirt's Life

I was born in a textile factory near Gujrat. I was picked up raw by my first master, who was a tailor. He then bought me to his shop. For many days, I was kept on his shelf untouched. The tailor always brought new cloth pieces and stored them along with me. I made many friends there. One day, we got separated as he started to stitch us into different outfits, I was disappointed as he did not choose me.

But one fine day, a young boy accompanied his dad to the shop because he wanted to stitch a fine shirt for himself. I was there waiting in the brown shade to be picked up. Suddenly, he looked at me and chose me to be his outfit.

I was so happy that he chose me. I was finally stitched into a fine outfit and was ironed and hung, ready to take home. I was thrilled to move to a new location, which was his wardrobe.

My second new master was a boy who adored me so much that he wore me most of the time. I was appreciated by his friends too. He looked good and presentable when he wore me. He wore me so many times that it made me look dirty and smelly.

So one day, he gave me to the laundry man. This man was the cruellest person, I thought. He once put me in a boiling tub with some detergent. There were other shirts and pants too. We were all boiling in the water full of bubbles. I thought this was the last thing, but no he removed us from the water and started hitting me on the slabs of stones as he believed that would clean the clothes. Later, I was stretched on a thin wire to dry under the sun. I was all bored staying there but felt good as I wasn’t smelling bad anymore and I was brighter than ever.

In the evening, I was straightened under a heavy hot iron. I was finally happy to be at home with my master.
