Prezi Desktop is the free desktop version of the web-based presentation design software Prezi. The software allows you to use Prezi when offline as long as you were logged in beforehand.

Prezi Desktop has all the same functionality of the original Prezi web app. With this software, you can design simple animated slideshows and presentations for academic and professional settings. Prezi comes with a variety of templates, each of which can be modified and altered as you desire.

The primary draw of Prezi Desktop is offline compatibility. By logging into your Prezi account, you can use the software even if your internet connection gets interrupted. The purpose of this is so you can seamlessly continue a presentation without waiting for the internet to return.

It is possible that Prezi desktop will allow you to continue designing a presentation while offline, though it’s uncertain if this feature is actually included. It’s unlikely that you will be able to save your progress until the internet connection returns, however your workflow can still go uninterrupted.

Prezi is often seen as an unprofessional presentation design software . This is due in large part to the cartoonish nature of its animated transitions. The software can also be difficult to work with when starting from scratch.

When starting from scratch, the software must be designed individually and animated through standardized animations. This turns templates into almost a necessity, and it’s very difficult to modify these to better suit your needs.

When comparing competition for presentation design software, the ease of use and professional reputation of the software is key. Microsoft Powerpoint is the most common choice for designing business-quality slideshows and presentations. The software provides a massive suite of tools for the accomplishment of this goal, but unlike Prezi is not free.

Prezi Desktop is a freemium application that lets you dynamically create digital presentations . You can navigate through the demonstration in a non-linear  way by clicking on the topic of interest instead of opting for the next slide in line. Prezi is a leader in the video presentation movement. You can overlay your slides on top of your camera frame to interact with the content in real time.

Microsoft Sway , mmhmm , Powtoon , and Visme are alternative apps that integrate videos into the demonstrations. Canva , Google Slides , Keynote , and PowerPoint are standard slide creation services. You can create in-app,   customized infographics with Canva, PowerPoint, Prezi, and Visme.

Can I use Prezi for free?

You can use the basic version of Prezi for free. The Prezi pricing has a variety of payment plans that deliver additional features. The desktop application will let you use Prezi in offline mode . You will need a username and password to sign up and log in to a Prezi account .

If you want more than only the free license, then you can easily upgrade to a different plan. The developers have created specialized packages for educators and teams that are ideal for internal collaboration: Prezi Business and Education.

What is Prezi Desktop?

Prezi Desktop is a dynamic software program that lets you easily create presentations online and offline. The title gives you plenty of Prezi templates that you can customize in the slides. Additionally, the service lets you import slides from another application. If you have already developed a demonstration, then you can upload the slides into Prezi.

You can find a presentation that another Prezi user made to repurpose with your own content. Prezi lets you develop a performance based on a customizable template or from blank slides. You can fill the pages with story blocks  by dragging and dropping the elements onto the slides. The smart structures let you quickly set up your story.

The building blocks are predesigned formats : flow charts, maps, etc. You can drag and drop your preferred layouts into the presentation. The blocks can be saved in your favorites section. If you want to find a specific type of format to add, then you can search the keyword. Prezi lets you conveniently edit the appearance and data of charts and graphs.

What is the purpose of Prezi?

While Prezi lets you add your own images to the pages, the productivity utility has a large gallery of pictures for inclusion purposes. Additionally, you can upload and embed your own videos into slides. Prezi Video lets you interact with your slides in real-time by putting you on the same screen. The audience can have a cohesive viewing experience .

Can you make a video on Prezi?

You can click on ‘ Create new video ’ in the dashboard to select a templated design. A new tab will appear to let you add text  to the graphics. The screen will be split into two sections. The camera view will be on the left side while the frame editor will be on the right.

You can add additional frames by clicking on the ‘ Add frame ’ button. Prezi lets you add photos and words to each of the designs. You can find certain types of images within the search bar. The icon next to the bar will let you upload your own photos for later placement in the video.

The editor lets you interact with the tabs by rearranging the order. You can click on the ‘Next step’ button in the lower right corner to progress through the process. The third step after choosing a template and adding content is to practice and record your performance. A three-second countdown will begin after you press the red record button.

You can transition between three distinct perspectives while you are presenting. The three buttons in the left corner let you control the frames . The first choice will show only you on the screen. While the second icon lets you collaborate with your content, the third button will display only the graphics. You can click the red dot to end the recording.

Prezi lets you review the video clip by tapping the play button. If you want to skip around the video, then you can drag and drop the lever on the timeline. You can trim the beginning and end of your recording by clicking on the scissor icon to the right of the line. A refresh button beneath the timeline lets you discard the clip and rerecord .

Can I use Prezi on any computer?

Prezi lets you share your video creations. You can add a title, tags, and description. You can share the video on Facebook , YouTube , LinkedIn , and Twitter . You also have the option to go live . Additionally, you can copy the link to send the presentation manually. If you want to save the recording to your PC, then you can click ‘Download’.

Prezi is a cloud-based  system that is compatible with any device. If you do not have a Wi-Fi connection, then you can use the desktop app in its offline mode. You can reveal your work on a computer, laptop, cell phone, tablet, etc. The application lets you use your smartphone as a remote clicker to control your demonstrations.

A modern approach to presenting

Prezi has a user-friendly  interface with plenty of features. The creative animations and designs can captivate audiences. The presenter view will let you make notes on your screen that the audience cannot see while you are presenting. You can easily skip around the presentation by clicking on elements within the slides. Prezi allows users to deliver interactive transitions, including fade, zoom, etc. The ability to present over video can give your demonstrations a conversational tone.

Prezi is a presentation software initially marketed as an alternative to Microsoft Powerpoint . The software provides users with an interactive canvas for organising information, as opposed to the traditional sequential slide layout.

Create visually stunning presentations

If you want to create and deliver a presentation that uses all that today’s technology has to offer, Prezi is the software for you. Instead of the standard text and image-based PowerPoint or Google Slides presentation, you can put on a show that’s unique and entertaining.

You don’t need advanced multimedia skills to take advantage of the Prezi workflow. The program is straightforward and easy to use. Once you have created an account on the platform, you can get started creating your show.

To begin creating, you can either start with a blank canvas, import an existing .ppt slide, or choose a template . The Prezi template library is packed with selections, and you can pick from themes including General, Sales, & Business Development, Marketing, HR, and Education/ Non-profit.

Even when you choose a blank canvas , you’ll be shown placeholders to work with, so you don’t have to worry about coming up with the design from scratch. With a template, you’ll see template sample text and images to replace.

Moving elements around is straightforward and the controls are similar to any other presentation app . What makes this program so special is the fact that you create an animated path through the canvas, making for interesting transitions .

Path Making Mode

When you’ve ready to create the flow of your presentation, you can enter Path Making Mode . You’ll click on the individual areas where you want to zoom in and out. Each location and its settings will be saved as you go.

The interface is designed to keep you in tune with the ‘slide’ transitions A side column shows previews so that you can check to make sure the order you set is correct.

Interactive elements

One of the more recent additions to Prezi is the ability to incorporate audio and video . You can use the camera on your PC to record a video of yourself talking. There are included tools and templates so that you can get created with your clips.

The elements you can include with your video allow you to overlay graphics , writing, and images . Prezi also includes basic video editing tools so you can trim the beginning or the end. You can use these features to create a more visually stimulating presentation.

Collaboration

Prezi simplified sharing and coworking. If you want to give access to someone who wants to review or view your presentation, you can send a link . You’re also able to grant permission to individuals who need to edit your work.

This program is excellent for collaborating on group projects . When there are multiple people contributing, you’ll see the initials of every active participant on the screen as you’re working. This is similar to ‘Share Mode’ on Powerpoint.

While there is no chatbox on Prezi, you can present while on a conference video call and make comments . With the ‘Go Live’ feature, you can share your presentation in a meeting that’s taking place through Zoon or Cisco Webex.

The scope and availability of features depend on the tier of your account. With some service plans, Prezi offers analytics tools so that you’re able to keep track of data points , such as how many people have viewed your presentation.

Plans & pricing

There is a free version of Prezi , but the paid plans come with many attractive features and benefits. The Basic version is a free plan, but Basic+ will cost you. In terms of functionality , these are fairly similar, especially because you can make unlimited presentations without having to pay.

Free Prezi doesn’t allow you access to some essential features such as presenter view , voice-overs, privacy controls, and offline access. Luckily, there’s an affordable option for students and educators called EDU Plus.

Professionals also have various options designed for their business needs. The Business Team plan, for example, allows for up to 10 people and is charged on a per user per month basis. The prices and plans offered are all over the map, each tailored to specific working needs.

Compared to alternatives like PowerPoint, PowToon, and Visme, they have plans and pricing options that are very similar to Prezi. If you’re seeking  free presentation software , then you can use the basic plan or Google Slides.

Aside from the fact that there are no chat tools for collaborators and a confusing plan and pricing system, one flaw of Prezi is that the tools often lack precision. Prezi’s tools are simplified, making it easy for anyone to edit , but often the controls don’t work.

Depending on the content that you’re creating, even something as simple as changing the font size can be tedious. You have to resize each element individually, so you can’t set the size to be consistent, and this is time-consuming.

It would be easier to work within this presentation software if it offered a full suite of tools for aligning and centering content boxes. Designers who are sticklers for precision will find the lack of options frustrating.

Another issue with Prezi for Windows is that the PEZ files will be saved on your local drive. This can be problematic, especially if you have limited storage space. If you’re going to be storing a lot of presentations, it’s best to keep data on an external drive.

One of a kind

Prezi is a great software for individuals who want to create lively and graphics-rich , talking-head presentations that will keep coworkers, superiors, and peers entertained. This program offers users flexibility and room for creative genius, and it’s a welcome alternative to classic slide software like PowerPoint and Google Slides.

Prezi isn’t for everyone. It’s best if users take advantage of the free plan and test out the software before paying for additional features. While Prezi is easy to use, there are limitations in terms of design tools and collaboration.

This software is one-of-a-kind and offers interesting features. The latest version allows for intriguing video conference presentations which is useful for the modern workplace.

Prezi turns the traditional approach to presentations on its head. Instead of creating slide after slide, this presentation software gives you a single giant canvas. You can add blocks of text or images, or even create miniature slides. During your presentation, you can seamlessly fly around the canvas and zoom in to look at individual chunks of content.

For how complex Prezi seems, it’s impressively simple to use the platform. The only major divergence from Microsoft PowerPoint is that you need to add animated paths from one part of the canvas to another. The tools for this are fairly straightforward, especially if you’ve ever used an animation or video editing software.

Of course, this type of presentation structure isn’t always ideal. Prezi makes it hard to visualize structured data like financials, which can make it difficult to use in business applications. Some viewers also might not appreciate the fly-around animation style that’s inherent to the presentation software.

Canva is perfect for making speedy presentations right in your web browser. This software offers a handful of free layouts to help you get your slideshow started, and it’s easy to customize the templates to fit your needs. There isn’t a huge variety of content elements to add to your presentation, but Canva makes up for this with a searchable library of more than 1 million images you can use.

Your Canva presentations live online, which makes it extremely easy to collaborate. You can invite colleagues to edit your slideshow (although simultaneous editing is not supported) or seamlessly share your finished presentation. However, beware that Canva can’t import presentations from Microsoft Powerpoint or export finished work to a Powerpoint-editable format.

3. LibreOffice

LibreOffice is a free alternative to Microsoft Office, and it includes a Powerpoint equivalent called Impress with nearly all of the same functionality. The only big difference you’ll find between the two slideshow creation tools is the LibreOffice lacks some modern features like built-in collaboration and integration with Microsoft OneDrive.

However, Impress does have a few advantages of its own. The software can import files from Keynote, the default presentation software on Mac computers. Plus, there are hundreds of free templates that you can download for free. Even better, there’s no limit on what fonts you can use with Impress, so it’s easy to change the look of your presentation from what Powerpoint typically allows.

On the whole, LibreOffice Impress is about as close as it gets to simply replicating Microsoft Powerpoint for free.

4. Google Slides

Google Slides is part of Google Workspace (formerly G Suite), and it does a nice job of matching a number of PowerPoint’s capabilities. This free presentation software supports embedding videos, creating diagrams, and adding animations to your slides. While the selection of templates is somewhat limited, you can easily import hundreds of additional templates for free or create your own.

Even better, Google Slides supports the collaboration tools users have come to expect from Google. Multiple people can work on a slideshow simultaneously, and there’s a built-in group chat so you can keep track of what everyone is doing. It’s also nice that you can play your presentation in presenter mode, which allows you to preview how it will look to your audience and rehearse timing.

The only downside to Google Slides is that bloated slideshows can experience some loading delays. Also beware that while you can move between Slides and Powerpoint, the conversion often messes with the layout of your slides.

5. WPS Office Free

WPS Office Free is a Microsoft Office look-alike that fully support PowerPoint files without any layout issues during import. The WPS Presentation tool has all of the same capabilities of PowerPoint, including tons of animations, slide transitions, content effects, and video embedding. The selection of included presentation templates is also very impressive for a free software.

One of the best things about this presentation software is that the user interface will feel incredibly familiar if you’re coming from Microsoft. All of the tools are displayed in a top ribbon, with your slides shown on the left side of the screen for easy navigation. It’s simple to display your presentation right from WPS Presentation, which means there’s no unexpected troubleshooting when it’s time to show off your work.

There’s not much to dislike about WPS Presentation. However, keep in mind that the software is supported by ads. Some users find the ads annoying, but they’re not overly in the way.

Will These Work with Prezi Classic or Next?

All of the above Prezi Templates will open in the new Prezi Next presentation software. Originally these were Prezi Classic templates, but have now been converted into Prezi Next. Using Prezibase Classic Templates with Prezi Next?

Prezi launched a new presentation software called Prezi Next on the 25th of April 2017. The old version is now called Prezi Classic and most of our free templates have been designed for the Classic version. If your Prezi account was created before the 25th of April, then you will automatically have access to both versions of Prezi. You can easily use all of our templates. There is currently no date set in the future when and even if, Prezi Classic will be dropped. Obviously it was loved by more than 80 million people, so it cannot be simply dropped.
