Eight Ways (and More) To Find and Access Research Papers

This blog is part of our Research Smarter series. You’ll discover the various search engines, databases and data repositories to help you along the way. Click on any of the following links for in an in-depth look at how to find relevant research papers, journals , and authors for your next project using the Web of Science™. You can  also check out our ultimate guides here , which include tips to speed up the writing process.

If you’re in the early stages of your research career, you’re likely struggling to learn all you can about your chosen field and evaluate your options. You also need an easy and convenient way to find the right research papers upon which to build your own work and keep you on the proper path toward your goals.

Fortunately, most institutions have access to thousands of journals, so your first step should be to be to check with library staff  and find out what is available via your institutional subscriptions.

For those who may be unfamiliar with other means of access, this blog post – the first in a series devoted to helping you “research smarter” – will provide a sampling of established data sources for scientific research. These include search engines, databases, and data repositories.

Search Engines and Databases

You may have already discovered that the process of searching for research papers offers many choices and scenarios. Some search engines, for example, can be accessed free of charge. Others require a subscription. The latter group generally includes services that index the contents of thousands of published journals, allowing for detailed searches on data fields such as author name, institution, title or keyword, and even funding sources. Because many journals operate on a subscription model too, the process of obtaining full-text versions of papers can be complicated.

On the other hand, a growing number of publishers follow the practice of Open Access (OA) , making their journal content freely available. Similarly, some authors publish their results in the form of preprints, posting them to preprint servers for immediate and free access. These repositories, like indexing services, differ in that some concentrate in a given discipline or broad subject area, while others cover the full range of research.

Search Engines

Following is a brief selection of reputable search engines by which to locate articles relevant to your research.

Google Scholar is a free search engine that provides access to research in multiple disciplines. The sources include academic publishers, universities, online repositories, books, and even judicial opinions from court cases. Based on its indexing, Google Scholar provides citation counts to allow authors and others to track the impact of their work.

The Directory of Open Access Journals ( DOAJ ) allows users to search and retrieve the article contents of nearly 10,000 OA journals in science, technology, medicine, social sciences, and humanities. All journals must adhere to quality-control standards, including peer review.

PubMed , maintained by the US National Library of Medicine, is a free search engine covering the biomedical and life sciences. Its coverage derives primarily from the MEDLINE database, covering materials as far back as 1951.

JSTOR affords access to more than 12 million journal articles in upwards of 75 disciplines, providing full-text searches of more than 2,000 journals, and access to more than 5,000 OA books.

Selected Databases

The following selection samples a range of resources, including databases which, as discussed above, index the contents of journals either in a given specialty area or the full spectrum of research. Others listed below offer consolidated coverage of multiple databases. Your institution is likely subscribed to a range of research databases, speak to your librarian to see which databases you have access to, and how to go about your search.

Web of Science includes The Web of Science Core Collection, which covers more than 20,000 carefully selected journals, along with books, conference proceedings, and other sources. The indexing also captures citation data, permitting users to follow the thread of an idea or development over time, as well as to track a wide range of research-performance metrics. The Web of Science also features EndNote™ Click , a free browser plugin that offers one-click access to the best available legal and legitimate full-text versions of papers. See here for our ultimate guide to finding relevant research papers on the Web of Science .

Science.gov covers the vast territory of United States federal science, including more than 60 databases and 2,200-plus websites. The many allied agencies whose research is reflected include NASA, the US Department of Agriculture, and the US Environmental Protection Agency.

CiteSeerx is devoted primarily to information and computer science. The database includes a feature called Autonomous Citation Indexing, designed to extract citations and create a citation index for literature searching and evaluation.

Preprint and Data Repositories

An early form of OA literature involved authors, as noted above,  making electronic, preprint versions of their papers freely available. This practice has expanded widely today. You can find archives devoted to a single main specialty area, as well as general repositories connected with universities and other institutions.

The specialty archive is perhaps best exemplified by arXiv (conveniently pronounced “archive,” and one of the earliest examples of a preprint repository). Begun in 1991 as a physics repository, ArXiv has expanded to embrace mathematics, astronomy, statistics, economics, and other disciplines. The success of ArXiv spurred the development of, for example, bioArXiv devoted to an array of topics within biology, and for chemistry, ChemRxiv .

Meanwhile, thousands of institutional repositories hold a variety of useful materials. In addition to research papers, these archives store raw datasets, graphics, notes, and other by-products of investigation. Currently, the Registry of Open Access Repositories lists more than 4,700 entries.

Reach Out Yourself?

If the resources above don’t happen to result in a free and full-text copy of the research you seek, you can also try reaching out to the authors yourself.

To find who authored a paper, you can search indexing platforms like the Web of Science , or research profiling systems like Publons™ , or ResearchGate , then look to reach out to the authors directly.

So, although the sheer volume of research can pose a challenge to identifying and securing needed papers, plenty of options are available.

How to Write a Research Paper | A Beginner's Guide

A research paper is a piece of academic writing that provides analysis, interpretation, and argument based on in-depth independent research.

Research papers are similar to academic essays , but they are usually longer and more detailed assignments, designed to assess not only your writing skills but also your skills in scholarly research. Writing a research paper requires you to demonstrate a strong knowledge of your topic, engage with a variety of sources, and make an original contribution to the debate.

This step-by-step guide takes you through the entire writing process, from understanding your assignment to proofreading your final draft.

Understand the assignment, choose a research paper topic, conduct preliminary research, develop a thesis statement, create a research paper outline, write a first draft of the research paper, write the introduction, write a compelling body of text, write the conclusion, the second draft, the revision process, research paper checklist, free lecture slides.

Completing a research paper successfully means accomplishing the specific tasks set out for you. Before you start, make sure you thoroughly understanding the assignment task sheet:

  • Read it carefully, looking for anything confusing you might need to clarify with your professor.
  • Identify the assignment goal, deadline, length specifications, formatting, and submission method.
  • Make a bulleted list of the key points, then go back and cross completed items off as you’re writing.

Carefully consider your timeframe and word limit: be realistic, and plan enough time to research, write, and edit.

Try for free

There are many ways to generate an idea for a research paper, from brainstorming with pen and paper to talking it through with a fellow student or professor.

You can try free writing, which involves taking a broad topic and writing continuously for two or three minutes to identify absolutely anything relevant that could be interesting.

You can also gain inspiration from other research. The discussion or recommendations sections of research papers often include ideas for other specific topics that require further examination.

Once you have a broad subject area, narrow it down to choose a topic that interests you, m eets the criteria of your assignment, and i s possible to research. Aim for ideas that are both original and specific:

  • A paper following the chronology of World War II would not be original or specific enough.
  • A paper on the experience of Danish citizens living close to the German border during World War II would be specific and could be original enough.

Note any discussions that seem important to the topic, and try to find an issue that you can focus your paper around. Use a variety of sources , including journals, books, and reliable websites, to ensure you do not miss anything glaring.

Do not only verify the ideas you have in mind, but look for sources that contradict your point of view.

  • Is there anything people seem to overlook in the sources you research?
  • Are there any heated debates you can address?
  • Do you have a unique take on your topic?
  • Have there been some recent developments that build on the extant research?

In this stage, you might find it helpful to formulate some research questions to help guide you. To write research questions, try to finish the following sentence: “I want to know how/what/why…”

A thesis statement is a statement of your central argument — it establishes the purpose and position of your paper. If you started with a research question, the thesis statement should answer it. It should also show what evidence and reasoning you’ll use to support that answer.

The thesis statement should be concise, contentious, and coherent. That means it should briefly summarize your argument in a sentence or two, make a claim that requires further evidence or analysis, and make a coherent point that relates to every part of the paper.

You will probably revise and refine the thesis statement as you do more research, but it can serve as a guide throughout the writing process. Every paragraph should aim to support and develop this central claim.

A research paper outline is essentially a list of the key topics, arguments, and evidence you want to include, divided into sections with headings so that you know roughly what the paper will look like before you start writing.

A structure outline can help make the writing process much more efficient, so it’s worth dedicating some time to create one.

Your first draft won’t be perfect — you can polish later on. Your priorities at this stage are as follows:

  • Maintaining forward momentum — write now, perfect later.
  • Paying attention to clear organization and logical ordering of paragraphs and sentences, which will help when you come to the second draft.
  • Expressing your ideas as clearly as possible, so you know what you were trying to say when you come back to the text.

You do not need to start by writing the introduction. Begin where it feels most natural for you — some prefer to finish the most difficult sections first, while others choose to start with the easiest part. If you created an outline, use it as a map while you work.

Do not delete large sections of text. If you begin to dislike something you have written or find it doesn’t quite fit, move it to a different document, but don’t lose it completely — you never know if it might come in useful later.

Paragraph structure

Paragraphs are the basic building blocks of research papers. Each one should focus on a single claim or idea that helps to establish the overall argument or purpose of the paper.

Example paragraph

George Orwell’s 1946 essay “Politics and the English Language” has had an enduring impact on thought about the relationship between politics and language. This impact is particularly obvious in light of the various critical review articles that have recently referenced the essay. For example, consider Mark Falcoff’s 2009 article in The National Review Online, “The Perversion of Language; or, Orwell Revisited,” in which he analyzes several common words (“activist,” “civil-rights leader,” “diversity,” and more). Falcoff’s close analysis of the ambiguity built into political language intentionally mirrors Orwell’s own point-by-point analysis of the political language of his day. Even 63 years after its publication, Orwell’s essay is emulated by contemporary thinkers.

Citing sources

It’s also important to keep track of citations at this stage to avoid accidental plagiarism . Each time you use a source, make sure to take note of where the information came from.

You can use our free citation generators to automatically create citations and save your reference list as you go.

APA Citation Generator MLA Citation Generator

The research paper introduction should address three questions: What, why, and how? After finishing the introduction, the reader should know what the paper is about, why it is worth reading, and how you’ll build your arguments.

What? Be specific about the topic of the paper, introduce the background, and define key terms or concepts.

Why? This is the most important, but also the most difficult, part of the introduction. Try to provide brief answers to the following questions: What new material or insight are you offering? What important issues does your essay help define or answer?

How? To let the reader know what to expect from the rest of the paper, the introduction should include a “map” of what will be discussed, briefly presenting the key elements of the paper in chronological order.

The major struggle faced by most writers is how to organize the information presented in the paper, which is one reason an outline is so useful. However, remember that the outline is only a guide and, when writing, you can be flexible with the order in which the information and arguments are presented.

One way to stay on track is to use your thesis statement and topic sentences . Check:

  • topic sentences against the thesis statement;
  • topic sentences against each other, for similarities and logical ordering;
  • and each sentence against the topic sentence of that paragraph.

Be aware of paragraphs that seem to cover the same things. If two paragraphs discuss something similar, they must approach that topic in different ways. Aim to create smooth transitions between sentences, paragraphs, and sections.

The research paper conclusion is designed to help your reader out of the paper’s argument, giving them a sense of finality.

Trace the course of the paper, emphasizing how it all comes together to prove your thesis statement. Give the paper a sense of finality by making sure the reader understands how you’ve settled the issues raised in the introduction.

You might also discuss the more general consequences of the argument, outline what the paper offers to future students of the topic, and suggest any questions the paper’s argument raises but cannot or does not try to answer.

You should not :

  • Offer new arguments or essential information
  • Take up any more space than necessary
  • Begin with stock phrases that signal you are ending the paper (e.g. “In conclusion”)

There are four main considerations when it comes to the second draft.

  • Check how your vision of the paper lines up with the first draft and, more importantly, that your paper still answers the assignment.
  • Identify any assumptions that might require (more substantial) justification, keeping your reader’s perspective foremost in mind. Remove these points if you cannot substantiate them further.
  • Be open to rearranging your ideas. Check whether any sections feel out of place and whether your ideas could be better organized.
  • If you find that old ideas do not fit as well as you anticipated, you should cut them out or condense them. You might also find that new and well-suited ideas occurred to you during the writing of the first draft — now is the time to make them part of the paper.

The goal during the revision and proofreading process is to ensure you have completed all the necessary tasks and that the paper is as well-articulated as possible. You can speed up the proofreading process by using the AI proofreader .

Global concerns

  • Confirm that your paper completes every task specified in your assignment sheet.
  • Check for logical organization and flow of paragraphs.
  • Check paragraphs against the introduction and thesis statement.

Fine-grained details

Check the content of each paragraph, making sure that:

  • each sentence helps support the topic sentence.
  • no unnecessary or irrelevant information is present.
  • all technical terms your audience might not know are identified.

Next, think about sentence structure , grammatical errors, and formatting . Check that you have correctly used transition words and phrases to show the connections between your ideas. Look for typos, cut unnecessary words, and check for consistency in aspects such as heading formatting and spellings .

Finally, you need to make sure your paper is correctly formatted according to the rules of the citation style you are using. For example, you might need to include an MLA heading  or create an APA title page .

The Ultimate Student Guide To Finding Credible Sources

The-Ultimate-Student-Guide-to-Finding-Credible-Sources

When it comes to writing a research paper, it’s crucial that you use credible sources to make sure that the information you are stating is actually true. Knowing the difference between credible sources and unreliable sources doesn’t always come so easily with endless information flooding the internet. Thankfully, there are some simple tips that you can use to ensure that you are always using credible sources for research.

What is a Research Paper?

A research paper is a piece of academic writing that uses original research on a specific topic. There are many different types of research papers, ranging from a high school term paper to a master’s thesis or doctoral dissertation.

How to start a search for sources, 1. start simple.

If you’re wondering how to find sources for a research paper, the easiest and best way to start is simple! Just try browsing through some common search engines to see what you find.

2. Cross Wikipedia off

Wikipedia, although it’s a massive pool of information, should always be avoided when writing a research paper since it allows the public to edit information. Sites such as these often run the risk of lacking accuracy, and is not one of the most credible sources for research.

3. Yes to scholarly databases

Scholarly databases are your best friend when it comes to finding credible sources for research. Online scholarly databases that can be trusted and are known to provide useful information for students include LexisNexis and EBSCO.

4. Newspapers and magazines

Although sometimes biased, newspapers and magazines can also be a great place to find information about current events.

5. The library

While the library seems to be the most obvious place to find information, somehow it’s often forgotten when it comes to research in the modern age. Don’t forget how useful it can truly be!

Types of Credible Sources for Research

1. what are some credible websites.

Many online sources do not necessarily contain information that is correct or has been checked. That’s why it’s of utmost importance to make sure that you’re using the right websites for your research, with government and educational websites generally being the most reliable.

Credible sources for research include: science.gov, The World Factbook, US Census Bureau, UK Statistics, and Encyclopedia Britannica.

2. What are some credible journal articles?

When it comes to journal articles, determining how credible they are comes much easier than other sources. This is generally due to the fact that many of these websites will include valuable information such as how many times the article has been cited, and if its been peer reviewed.

Some great examples of reliable websites for journal articles include Google Scholar, Oxford Academic, Microsoft Academic, Cornell University Library, and SAGE Publishing.

If you are ever not sure how to find credible sources, then there’s the CRAAP test, which takes into account the Currency, Relevance, Authority, Accuracy and Purpose of the article. Take all of these factors into consideration before using a source and determining whether or not it’s credible enough. Even if it takes more time, you’ll be saving yourself tons of time in the long run by not using unreliable sources.

3. what are some credible news sources.

When it comes to news articles, more caution must be taken since it’s hard to know which sources are truly reliable and unbiased. The CRAAP test is also useful in this type of article for research.

A few examples of credible news sources include The New York Times, Bloomberg, and The Washington Post.

The Credibility of a Source

As you search for your research information, you will surely come across the question of how to find credible sources for a research paper. Here are some criteria to focus on to ensure that you only use the most credible of sources.

1. What’s the depth of it?

Always look at the depth of an article, not just the written content. See how long the article is, and if it contains the necessary information such as an abstract, a reference list, and documented data.

2. Who is reading it?

When judging the credibility of an article, it’s important to always ask yourself who the target audience of the article is. Sometimes, sources have a specific goal in mind and it can create certain biases.

3. What’s the goal?

Just as you should do with the audience, also ask yourself what the article is trying to achieve. What is their ultimate goal and how are they persuading you of that?

4. Who wrote it?

Always ask yourself who wrote the article and how reputable they are in the specific field. Look at what other published works they have as well.

5. Can it be trusted?

Overall, it’s key to ask yourself how reputable the source is. What kind of website is it published on? Look at the big picture.

6. Is it relevant to now?

Look at the date of the article, or about the specific things they are mentioning in the article. If it’s from a few years ago, it’s probably not too relevant to your current research.

7. Can it be proven?

While an article may sound incredibly convincing, many people have a way with words and persuasion. Stop and ask yourself whether or not what they are claiming can actually be proven.

How to evaluate source credibility.

By using unreliable sources in your research, it can discredit your status, which is why it’s incredibly important to make sure that any information you are using is up-to-date and accurate.

Here’s how to find credible sources.

1. What is a credible source?

Generally, materials that have been published within the past 10 years are considered to be credible sources for research. Another important factor to consider is the author — if they are well known and respected in their specific fields, that’s also generally a sign that the article is credible. Educational and government-run websites (.gov, .edu) tend to also be a safe source to use, as well as academic databases. Google Scholar is also a no-fail source for reliable information.

2. What is a potentially unreliable source?

Anything that is out of date, meaning it’s been published more than 10 years ago should be avoided. Materials published on social media platforms such as Facebook or personal blogs don’t tend to be the most credible. Always make sure that an article contains proper citations and that the website you are using ends in .com or .org.

Free Resources For Learning

There are many free resources for research available known as open educational resources . They are licensed for free use, with the intention of teaching. They can be determined as credible sources for research if they have a Creative Common license, and if the author has proven to be an expert in their field. Always make sure that the content you are using contains no biases.

Sites For Scholarly Research

When performing scholarly research, it’s extra important to make sure that your sources are credible. Government-run research is considered credible, but beware of any political sites. University and educational websites also tend to be reliable, but still take everything you read with a grain of salt. Company websites also tend to be reliable, although their ultimate goal is usually to promote a product. Organizations which are .org websites can be professional and reliable, however, sometimes they also have their own interests.

Which Sites Can Be Relied On

The internet has no shortage of information out there. That’s why you’ll need these handy tips to determine which to use, and how to distinguish through the vast choices without feeling overwhelmed.

List of Credible Research Sources to Consider

1. government entities.

These websites tend to be reliable since they are highly regulated. Examples include the CIA World Factbook and the United States Justice Statistics.

2. Research Think Tanks

Examples of reliable research think tanks include Rand Corporation, Pew Research Center and The Milken Institute.

3. Academic Libraries and Databases

ProQuest, Scopus, and Jstor are great examples of academic libraries and databases that can be trusted.

4. Professional Standards Organizations

The American Bar Association and The American Psychological Association (APA) are highly credible sources when it comes to professional standards.

How to Write a Research Paper: Step-by-Step

Now that you’re an expert on finding credible sources for research, you’re ready to go! But how do you even start to write a research paper? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.

For starters, it’s important to get clear instructions from your professor on what they want. The next step is to start brainstorming ideas for a topic of research. Once you’ve decided and feel confident about it, you’re ready to create your outline and plan out the goal of your research paper.

Befriend your librarian and start to search for quality and credible sources through a variety of means. Make sure you understand your topic from top to bottom before you start writing.  As you write, be sure to always keep things factual, and that you finalize your thesis statement throughout your paper — not just at the end. That’s what’s going to guide your writing. Be sure to always keep format in mind, never forget to cite your sources, and to never skip those edits and final checks.

Now you are ready to write a high-quality, fact-driven research paper that’s sure to impress your professors.

20 Amazing Websites and/or Resources For PhD Students

“The Web is full of essential as well as scrap websites and tools. The difficult task for students is to find the important one, without compromising their personal, professional and research information. I’m giving you a list of essential websites and resources for researchers and PhDs.”

PhDs have comprehensive knowledge on a specific topic or field. Oftentimes, when they search for lucrative websites or resources; most of the time, they land on either scrap websites or nothing important.

They want to make their PhD life easy using tools, websites or resources, but publishers trick them to see lists that are either for PhD programs , scholarship programs or something else. I personally find it difficult while doing research for this article.

The second thing is, they lack knowledge about where they can find useful resources. However, there are certain websites that make your life easier if you know about it in your early life of PhD.

You may have to search literature, find information, gain knowledge, write articles, publish papers, and prepare images, charts or interactives. For all such tasks, you have to use different websites or tools.

I have divided this article into three parts. In this part, we will discuss only websites and resources while in the upcoming two parts, we will discuss important tools and apps. So here are 20 amazing websites or resources for PhD students.

Google Scholar

Google books , science direct, biomed central, microsoft academic, science.gov, pubmed central, digital commons network, diagrams.net.

  • Wrapping up:

20 Amazing Websites and/or Resources For PhD Students

some websites for research papers

  • Website link: https://scholar.google.com/
  • Application: Find scholarly articles and connect with other scientists.

At the very beginning, researchers should know about Google Scholar. It’s a search engine dedicatedly prepared for research students and scientists. What can you do with it?

  • You can find peer-reviewed articles
  • Make your own profile
  • Upload your publications
  • Save and share articles
  • Check your citations matrics
  • Connect with other scientists

Google Scholar is Google’s product, safe to use and easy to navigate. I have already written an article on this topic, you can read: 7 Ways to Find Peer-Reviewed Articles On Google .

  • Website link: https://books.google.com/
  • Applications: To find peer-reviewed Books.

Yet another impressive product from Google is Google Books. It comes up with a simpler and more impressive look, type a topic name on which you want a book in Google books and you get thousands of options.

When you click the book, you get information like:

  • ISBN number
  • Name of the publisher
  • Number of pages
  • Other editions
  • Name of authors
  • Keywords
  • The availability of the book on other platforms

Most importantly, we can generate citations there and use them in our thesis or paper directly. I know there are many sources available to purchase books but Google Books is the most trusted, authentic and viable option for PhDs.

  • Website link: https://www.wikipedia.org/
  • Application: To find resources and information.

There’s a misconception among research students that Wikipedia isn’t a trusted source to find literature. Let me tell you that, it’s partially true, how? First, it is the best place where you can get any information regarding any topic.

Wikipedia gives amazing background information regarding any topic and is too peer-reviewed. On the other hand, it’s difficult to understand basic concepts from research papers, directly. So, students have to start with Wikipedia.

Search anything on the Wikipedia search engine, read it and understand the concept. From my personal experience, Wiki makes concepts easier to understand.

  • Website link: https://www.sciencedirect.com/
  • Application: Find peer-reviewed resources across the web.

(We are almost going in sync).

When you type any topic into Google you will get two topmost results, one is from Wikipedia and the second is from Science Direct, mostly.

ScienceDirect is a great place to find peer-reviewed scientific literature. The best thing about this website is, when you open it, it shows results as a “compilation” of abstracts for a topic. You just have to quickly read it, click the paper you want and go there.

It makes the reading task so easy. The target audience for this website is students from various fields of science as well as scientists.

  • Website link: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/
  • Application: find resources, tools, data, and information for biotechnology.

The full name of NCBI is National Centre for Biotechnology Information and is run by the NIH- National Library of Medicine. Any life science student should know about the NCBI from day one of their research.

It’s a huge database for life science. It contains

  • Resources
  • Methods
  • Portals to submit data.

Researchers can submit their data to NCBI and make them accessible to other scientists. Keep in mind that the data and other information present there on NCBI are sensitive. You can get information about any organism and anything associated with that organism.

NCBI is a huge portal, students have to learn to use various tools and information present there.

  • Website: https://www.biomedcentral.com/
  • Application: Search for scholarly literature.

Biomed central is yet another website to find scholarly literature and peer-reviewed articles. It’s a part of Springer-Nature and provides high-quality journals, resources and literature for peers and scientists.

Moreover, you can explore journals from various fields and get published there. Biomed Central is yet another resource like Science Direct.

  • Website: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/research/project/academic/
  • Application: Find resources related to your topic.

Microsoft Academia is a search engine from Microsoft. It not only provides peer-reviewed articles but also news, blog posts, videos and even podcasts on one page. Meaning, you can remain updated with your subject or topic.

Notedly, it’s not the platform to find scholarly articles, but you can get ‘around’ the information on your topic. So you can know what’s going on around your topic.

  • Website: https://www.science.gov/
  • Application: Provides various forms of information.

Before writing this article, I didn’t know about science.gov. It’s a kind of semi-search engine from the US government science information. Interestingly, it gives us information categorized into- text, multimedia, data and public access.

I don’t know how you will use it, but it’s definitely helpful to research students. I will learn it, use it and come back to you; if it would be helpful. Give it a fair try.

  • Website: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/
  • Application: Search full-text article.

PMC- PubMed Central is an important website for PhD students as it provides free full-text articles available on your topic. It has the largest number of article databases that students can explore. Not only that, students can download articles, generate citations and search related queries.

PMC and NCBI are two websites that every science, biology and life science student has to know.

  • Website link: https://www.jstor.org/
  • Application: find knowledge, resources and information.

JSTOR is a non-profitable organization that provides information in various fields. It’s also a type of search engine for scientific literature. Students can find primary resources, literature, images, journals and even books.

You can find information on your topic in one place, but the amazing feature that it has is the ‘images’. A dedicated images feature of JASTOR shows thousands of images for your topic from various resources which are sometimes not present on Google Images.

  • Website: https://network.bepress.com/
  • Application: Find literature and resources.

Yet another search engine to find various research is the Digital Commons Network. I didn’t find anything ‘out-of-the-box’ for this website. You can give it a try.

Now besides finding literature, there are other things students also have to do during PhD, for example, preparing diagrams, generating citations or editing Pdfs. Here is a list of some more tools that help you with this.

  • Website: https://app.diagrams.net/
  • Application: make diagrams, photos, flowcharts and images.

Diagrams.net is an online website that helps you in preparing diagrams, charts, flowcharts, images and other multimedia for your thesis or research. I am planning to prepare one tutorial for this. And if possible I will upload it here. So that you know how to use it.

  • Website: https://www.ilovepdf.com/
  • Application: edit– pdf, doc or text.

Ilovepdf is my personal favorite website. Let me tell you that we can do so many things that usually you can’t do. It’s a specialized website that can help you with your doc. You can convert your docs, for example,

  • Excel to pdf
  • Html to pdf
  • And vice versa.

You can compress doc or pdfs, split it, merge it and edit them. You can even edit your final thesis draft in the form of a pdf. You can even add a page or delete one or edit some part of the text. Isn’t it amazing! I strongly recommend using ilovepdf.

  • Website: https://www.freepik.com/
  • Application: Download high-quality images for free.

Now, you need images, illustrations and gifs for your presentations and other work during your PhD. But finding copyright-free images is a hard task. Freepik is one such website, from where you can download images for free.

The images in the freepik database are high-quality and freely available. You can use it and make your presentation more impressive.

  • Website: https://www.canva.com/
  • Application: To prepare interactives.

Yet another great place to prepare images, figures, tables, datasheets and many other interactives for your thesis is Canva.

Canva is super easy to use and has many templates for doing so many things. You can do

  • Presentation

And a lot more. I strongly recommend visiting Canva once.

Wrapping up:

I know these are not 20, but timely I will add more websites to this list and complete it. The reason is, I want to give a useful and beneficial list not a list with repetitive and unuseful things. One more thing I want to add, these websites are free to use.

I hope this article will help you. Do share this content in your research group and bookmark the page. Still, then you can read this article to learn more: 7 Must-Have Thesis Writing Tools .

General Education

feature_pencilpaper

One of the hardest parts of writing a research paper can be just finding a good topic to write about. Fortunately we've done the hard work for you and have compiled a list of 113 interesting research paper topics. They've been organized into ten categories and cover a wide range of subjects so you can easily find the best topic for you.

In addition to the list of good research topics, we've included advice on what makes a good research paper topic and how you can use your topic to start writing a great paper.

What Makes a Good Research Paper Topic?

Not all research paper topics are created equal, and you want to make sure you choose a great topic before you start writing. Below are the three most important factors to consider to make sure you choose the best research paper topics.

#1: It's Something You're Interested In

A paper is always easier to write if you're interested in the topic, and you'll be more motivated to do in-depth research and write a paper that really covers the entire subject. Even if a certain research paper topic is getting a lot of buzz right now or other people seem interested in writing about it, don't feel tempted to make it your topic unless you genuinely have some sort of interest in it as well.

#2: There's Enough Information to Write a Paper

Even if you come up with the absolute best research paper topic and you're so excited to write about it, you won't be able to produce a good paper if there isn't enough research about the topic. This can happen for very specific or specialized topics, as well as topics that are too new to have enough research done on them at the moment. Easy research paper topics will always be topics with enough information to write a full-length paper.

Trying to write a research paper on a topic that doesn't have much research on it is incredibly hard, so before you decide on a topic, do a bit of preliminary searching and make sure you'll have all the information you need to write your paper.

#3: It Fits Your Teacher's Guidelines

Don't get so carried away looking at lists of research paper topics that you forget any requirements or restrictions your teacher may have put on research topic ideas. If you're writing a research paper on a health-related topic, deciding to write about the impact of rap on the music scene probably won't be allowed, but there may be some sort of leeway. For example, if you're really interested in current events but your teacher wants you to write a research paper on a history topic, you may be able to choose a topic that fits both categories, like exploring the relationship between the US and North Korea. No matter what, always get your research paper topic approved by your teacher first before you begin writing.

113 Good Research Paper Topics

Below are 113 good research topics to help you get you started on your paper. We've organized them into ten categories to make it easier to find the type of research paper topics you're looking for.

How to Write a Great Research Paper

Even great research paper topics won't give you a great research paper if you don't hone your topic before and during the writing process. Follow these three tips to turn good research paper topics into great papers.

#1: Figure Out Your Thesis Early

Before you start writing a single word of your paper, you first need to know what your thesis will be. Your thesis is a statement that explains what you intend to prove/show in your paper. Every sentence in your research paper will relate back to your thesis, so you don't want to start writing without it!

As some examples, if you're writing a research paper on if students learn better in same-sex classrooms, your thesis might be "Research has shown that elementary-age students in same-sex classrooms score higher on standardized tests and report feeling more comfortable in the classroom."

If you're writing a paper on the causes of the Civil War, your thesis might be "While the dispute between the North and South over slavery is the most well-known cause of the Civil War, other key causes include differences in the economies of the North and South, states' rights, and territorial expansion."

#2: Back Every Statement Up With Research

Remember, this is a research paper you're writing, so you'll need to use lots of research to make your points. Every statement you give must be backed up with research, properly cited the way your teacher requested. You're allowed to include opinions of your own, but they must also be supported by the research you give.

#3: Do Your Research Before You Begin Writing

You don't want to start writing your research paper and then learn that there isn't enough research to back up the points you're making, or, even worse, that the research contradicts the points you're trying to make!

Get most of your research on your good research topics done before you begin writing. Then use the research you've collected to create a rough outline of what your paper will cover and the key points you're going to make. This will help keep your paper clear and organized, and it'll ensure you have enough research to produce a strong paper.

List of Credible Sources for Research. Examples of Credible Websites

Looking for relevant sources of information for your research is already a tiring process, but when you also need to pay attention to their credibility, it becomes almost impossible! However, it’s still a quite critical aspect to pay attention to. Using unreliable sites like Wikipedia, even if it’s a two-page essay in middle school, is not welcomed.

Our specialists will write a custom essay specially for you!

Don’t know how to find credible sources? No worries! Custom-Writing experts have created this brilliant guide for you. It’s not merely a compilation of best tips on how to choose reliable websites for research. There are also many examples of reliable sources that you can use for basically any type of paper you may need to write!

👨‍🎓️ What Are Credible Sources?

  • Natural Science

✅ Website Reliability Checklist

Credible sources: definition.

In general, credible sources are the ones that can be considered unbiased and have some sort of evidence to rely on . Popular dictionaries can give you a whole list of the criteria that help you identify one. For example, a credible book would be written by respected and recognized authors in the last ten years.

The picture emphasized the difference between credible and non-credible sources in terms of their time of publishing, authors, and institutions.

Credible Sources:

  • information published within last 10 years;
  • texts written by respected authors;
  • websites belonging to educational and governmental institutions;
  • articles from Google Scholar;
  • academic databases.

Non-credible sources:

  • outdated information;
  • texts written by someone without proper credentials;
  • commercial websites;
  • articles without citations;
  • blog posts.

Non-credible Sources

Non-credible sources are the complete opposite of the definition above. They shouldn’t be used, especially when you are working on essential pieces of writing. An unreliable source would most definitely be outdated and coming from the writers with no credentials. Also, beware of unknown blog posts that don’t have any citations!

Just in 1 hour! We will write you a plagiarism-free paper in hardly more than 1 hour

How to Determine Credible Sources?

You need to pay close attention to several things when looking for credible sources. First of all, the information needs to be published at least within the last few years. Check whether the authors are well-known and have received some acknowledgment. The majority of websites belonging to governmental and educational institutions are reliable. If you’re still not sure, you can always check if the source is present in Google Scholar or any other academic database.

In some cases, your teacher or supervisor might provide you with particular requirements regarding the sources. For instance, you would need to pick the most recent studies published within the last five or even three years.

Why Is it Important to Use Credible Sources for Research?

Long story short, no one will believe the arguments you make in your essay are correct if they are based on Wikipedia’s information. So taking your time and picking trustworthy sources guarantees that your statements will convince the readers. An academic research paper is expected to be backed up by reliable evidence.

This way, you, as the author of the paper, gain the audience’s trust and support. When your main arguments derive from credible places, they know that you haven’t made it up. Also, it’s more than just about the authority. Sometimes, unreliable sources may contain errors and mistakes, which is especially bad for science projects. Because then you’ll have to use a rewriting tool or otherwise fix your text. So make sure you can trust the information!

🌐 Examples of Credible Sources: Websites

A list of reliable sources for research papers.

Finding reliable sources for a research paper is not an easy task. Let’s start with the easily accessible ones – websites. You have probably heard and used Google Scholar, but surprise-surprise, there are so many similar services that can help you find credible books and articles! Check out a list of credible online platforms that will help you do that.

Receive a plagiarism-free paper tailored to your instructions. Cut 20% off your first order!

  • Google Scholar . It’s the most popular and easy-to-use search engine that can present scholarly pieces of writing on any topic you require. Google Scholar is free to use, and you can choose to look for any type of publishing format.
  • JSTOR . JSTOR is an online library of all kinds of sources, such as books, articles, and journals. Even though access is limited, it can be a great help for students. It is also considered one of the most reliable databases since the sources are selected very carefully before being placed there.
  • Microsoft Academic . You can use this web search engine for free. Not only it helps you find the necessary literature, but it tracks the most recent academic publications and research in the field of your interest! Moreover, it was relaunched in 2016, featuring a more user-friendly interface.
  • SAGE Publishing . This independent publisher gives you open access to academic journals and much more in case of your subscription! Every year they drop thousands of high-quality content in the form of books and journals, so it’s a pretty reputable source.
  • Taylor and Francis Online . It is quite well-known by many researchers and has a good reputation. They publish peer-reviewed journal articles. This online tool gives you access to all the journals published by this company. Free admission is limited, so you should double-check the terms first.
  • ScienceDirect . ScienceDirect is a massive database of scientific and medical literature, which you can access via subscription. All 18 million pieces published there are known to be credible. Therefore, this tool can be more than efficient and reliable for your research.
  • Academia . Academia is a free resource similar to Google Scholar, where you can look through and even download any paper you want. However, sometimes the authors only upload a part of their work. So you would need to contact them yourself if you’re interested.
  • Scopus . It is one of the biggest databases of peer-reviewed journals and articles. Note that they only offer the option of checking the abstracts and citations for free, but not the papers’ full content. So you need to review the terms to gain full access.

A List of Credible News Sources

Of course, journalism isn’t comparable to academic writing . No matter how hard you try to describe world news, politics, or economics, thousands of people will find your article subjective.

But still, there are some less credible and more credible news sources. We’ve gathered here several news websites with a good reputation.

  • BBC News . BBC News is one of the most trusted sources you can ever find. They post all the fresh pieces of news in text, video, or audio format on their official website. Since it’s a TV channel, you don’t need to pay extra to access the content.
  • The Economist . The Economist is a well-known and respected weekly magazine with a focus on international business, economics, and politics. It is also available online. Even though the subscription fee is not that small, people say it’s totally worth it.
  • The Wall Street Journal . It is another American-based giant of the business journals’ world. It appears to be extremely popular and published both digitally and in broadsheet format. You can always find business news for free, but the readers still recommend investing in The Wall Street Journal .
  • Google News . You can think of Google News as a personal organizer of the most relevant headlines. You just set up your preferences, and this tool generates an endless stream of articles based on your interests. It’s believed to be the largest of its kind.
  • The Guardian . We could never miss The Guardian ! This British newspaper, staying in business for over two hundred years now, is one of the people’s favorites. Their online publications are free for everybody, but they would appreciate your input since they are running on donations.
  • CNN . CNN is another international TV channel which mainly covers business and politics. It’s amongst the most popular channels in the US and is famous for delivering breaking news. It’s a great place to start if you want to keep your finger on the pulse of the North American news.

A List of Credible Sources on Natural Science

And in this last section of useful links, you’ll find reputable sources on natural science . Every link presents a trusted website filled with knowledge you can easily apply to your research paper.

  • NASA . There is no denying that NASA is quite reliable. It’s a governmental source of information about the most recent discoveries and explorations of space. Not only can you find videos, reports, and pictures there, but you can join the live streams of such events as launching and landing!
  • Scientific American . It’s an absolute must-have for everyone interested in science and technology! The works of the most famous scientists were published there. Even Albert Einstein’s article featured in one of the issues! You can either buy a paper version of the magazine or subscribe to their website.
  • Popular Science . This science-oriented source is more for the general audience. Even though it covers various discussions and doesn’t always present the latest discoveries, Popular Science is still a reliable and respectable source of infor mation. As a journal, it has won multiple awards!
  • National Geographic . For the lovers of nature, this source is perfect for exploring the most exciting news and documentaries on any topic you want! It’s originally a TV network, but you can also check out their website and even a smartphone application. It’s also known for being reliable as they provide good sourcing and evidence.

How can you tell if a website is credible? Check it for these factors:

  • Contact information
  • Up-to-date material
  • Regularly revised information
  • Links to support every side fact
  • Informative purpose
  • No broken links on the page
  • No grammar or punctuation mistakes
  • No misspellings
  • Mentioned in scientific sources
  • Bibliography

If you can’t find at least nine of these signs in your article, be careful—there’s a chance you’re dealing with a non-credible source.

Get an originally-written paper according to your instructions!

Remember, you can always use our lists of credible websites for faster access to trusted investigations.

✏️ Credible Sources FAQ

What definitely makes a website credible is .edu or .gov in the URL code. You may add “inurl:.edu” or “inurl:.gov” to your Google search. If a website is not updated, the content is not structured, the texts contain grammatical and formatting mistakes – that source is probably not reliable.

Any website that contains .edu or .gov in the URL code would serve as an example of a credible online source. Other relatively reliable sources include famous online dictionaries and encyclopedias. However, beware of unreliable copies of such websites with a similar title or design.

It is usually possible to tell if the source is credible relying on common sense. For example, if there are formatting and grammatical mistakes, the content is not structured, the pages do not load properly, and the website is not updated, it is probably unreliable.

To determine that an online source might not be credible, pay attention to details. Does the site look neat and structured? Are there mistakes in grammar or formatting? Do the pages load properly? Does it have huge ad banners that hinder the website usage?

some websites for research papers

A study identified more than two million articles that did not appear in a major digital archive, despite having an active DOI. Credit: Anna Berkut/Alamy

More than one-quarter of scholarly articles are not being properly archived and preserved, a study of more than seven million digital publications suggests. The findings, published in the Journal of Librarianship and Scholarly Communication on 24 January 1 , indicate that systems to preserve papers online have failed to keep pace with the growth of research output.

“Our entire epistemology of science and research relies on the chain of footnotes,” explains author Martin Eve, a researcher in literature, technology and publishing at Birkbeck, University of London. “If you can’t verify what someone else has said at some other point, you’re just trusting to blind faith for artefacts that you can no longer read yourself.”

Eve, who is also involved in research and development at digital-infrastructure organization Crossref, checked whether 7,438,037 works labelled with digital object identifiers (DOIs) are held in archives. DOIs — which consist of a string of numbers, letters and symbols — are unique fingerprints used to identify and link to specific publications, such as scholarly articles and official reports. Crossref is the largest DOI registration agency, allocating the identifiers to about 20,000 members, including publishers, museums and other institutions.

The sample of DOIs included in the study was made up of a random selection of up to 1,000 registered to each member organization. Twenty-eight per cent of these works — more than two million articles — did not appear in a major digital archive, despite having an active DOI. Only 58% of the DOIs referenced works that had been stored in at least one archive. The other 14% were excluded from the study because they were published too recently, were not journal articles or did not have an identifiable source.

Preservation challenge

Eve notes that the study has limitations: namely that it tracked only articles with DOIs, and that it did not search every digital repository for articles (he did not check whether items with a DOI were stored in institutional repositories, for example).

Nevertheless, preservation specialists have welcomed the analysis. “It’s been hard to know the real extent of the digital preservation challenge faced by e-journals,” says William Kilbride, managing director of the Digital Preservation Coalition, headquartered in York, UK. The coalition publishes a handbook detailing good preservation practice.

“Many people have the blind assumption that if you have a DOI, it’s there forever,” says Mikael Laakso, who studies scholarly publishing at the Hanken School of Economics in Helsinki. “But that doesn’t mean that the link will always work.” In 2021, Laakso and his colleagues reported 2 that more than 170 open-access journals had disappeared from the Internet between 2000 and 2019.

Kate Wittenberg, managing director of the digital archiving service Portico in New York City, warns that small publishers are at higher risk of failing to preserve articles than are large ones. “It costs money to preserve content,” she says, adding that archiving involves infrastructure, technology and expertise that many smaller organizations do not have access to.

Eve’s study suggests some measures that could improve digital preservation, including stronger requirements at DOI registration agencies and better education and awareness of the issue among publishers and researchers.

“Everybody thinks of the immediate gains they might get from having a paper out somewhere, but we really should be thinking about the long-term sustainability of the research ecosystem,” Eve says. “After you’ve been dead for 100 years, are people going to be able to get access to the things you’ve worked on?”

Clarification 05 March 2024 : The headline of this story has been edited to reflect the fact that some of these papers have not entirely disappeared from the Internet. Rather, many papers are still accessible but have not been properly archived.

The urgency of your order is the biggest factor that influences the price, so last-minute papers usually cost more. For this reason, we recommend you place your orders in advance to save money. If you’re new to PaperHelp and you want to buy essay online cheap, you can use the LWS10 code during checkout to get a 10% discount and a complimentary originality report with your order.

Can Turnitin detect essay papers bought online?

Yes, it is possible. However, this does not imply that bypassing Turnitin’s originality checks is unachievable. In fact, it can be done with relative ease. As you may be aware, Turnitin compares your college essay against a vast database of previously submitted papers. This database includes hundreds of thousands of college essays, research papers, and other academic materials.

Nonetheless, using a reputable essay writing service can effectively address this concern. A professional writer draws upon their own knowledge and creative insights to craft a plagiarism-free paper. They ensure that any use of external thoughts or ideas is properly cited, avoiding plagiarism.

Furthermore, Turnitin has a feature that compares your assignment to your previous works, potentially identifying differences in style and tone. However, this should not be a problem either. If you choose to buy essay papers online, be sure to provide your academic writer with with samples of your past writings. This enables them to mimic your writing style closely.

Is it safe to buy essays online?

Buying an essay on web platforms is absolutely safe as long as you stick to some important rules. First of all, you should always use anonymous profiles to protect your privacy. To ensure confidentiality, don’t provide any details about your educational institution, instructors, etc. In general, keep all your personal information secret.

It’s also important to stay away from public internet services because every time you use them, you leave digital footprints. As a result, you can be tracked down by hackers. So if you don’t want anybody to reveal your identity, you should hide your IP address.

It’s easy to do with the help of a VPN, which can be downloaded as an extension or software. This tool will mask your internet activities and prevent others from getting access to your data.

Before you decide to purchase a paper from a particular company, do proper research of the essay service you are going to use. Don’t turn to the first companies that pop up on your Google search until you check them. Obviously, it’s better to order an essay from a reputable site. Note that reliable agencies always have a lot of positive reviews on the web, so read as many comments as possible.

If you follow the recommendations given above, you shouldn’t worry about safety issues.

How much does it cost to buy an essay?

The prices for essay writing services vary significantly from one company to another. On average, a professional writer with an advanced degree and extensive experience charges between $10 and $30 per page. However, the rates depend on multiple factors. It’s possible to buy essay online for a lower price, but it’s better not to take the risk. The chances are that a cheap essay will be plagiarized or poorly written.

First of all, essay cost depends on task complexity. If you need to get a high school essay written, you will have to pay less than for a college or university essay. So the higher the academic level you have, the more you will pay for your order.

Also, your expenses depend on the type of platform you are turning to. Reputable companies usually set higher prices for their services since they provide guarantees for the quality of their work. Best writers and native speakers also charge more for their services than ESL specialists or those without a degree. Another important factor affecting the price is your deadline date. If it’s too close, you’ll have to pay extra.

Who will write my essay?

Some websites give you detailed information about their writers, allowing you to check the list of professionals at a particular company and pick one that meets your requirements. Pay special attention to the qualifications of your writer and their amount of experience.

However, remember that having a decent education and incredible experience doesn’t always guarantee top quality. Sometimes, less experienced writers are extremely dedicated to their work and can deliver excellent papers. Unfortunately, you never really know who will write your essay better.

Credible companies typically hire skilled specialists with Master’s or Ph.D. degrees, who might be teachers, researchers, or even professors. It’s quite common because many academics enjoy writing and take it up as a part-time job. Imagine, your essay could be written by a world-renowned scientist without you even knowing it!

Papers may be completed by both native English speakers and non-natives. Some students think that native speakers never make mistakes and their work is flawless. However, this isn’t always the case since they’re just human and can struggle with a loss of concentration or poor focus.

On the other hand, non-native writers at essay services often have an excellent command of English. Before being hired, they must provide certificates proving their language skills, so you can be confident in their knowledge.”

How soon can I have my essay written?

Any student faces a situation when a paper must be done urgently. It’s really stressful when only a few hours are left to submit your essay. In such circumstances, it may be risky to completely rely on somebody and ask for help. But what if there is nothing else to do? The good news is that custom writing companies can deal with your assignment within 3 hours. Of course, it won’t be cheap since you need to pay extra for urgency. Also, it works this way only if you need to have a short essay done. In case its length exceeds one page, you’ll have to wait from four to six hours at least.

The optimal deadline for most services is 14 days. If you set such time limits, you can count on good work and moderate prices. The more time you give to writers, the less you’ll have to pay. If it’s possible to wait for three weeks, you can save a considerable amount of money.

Is it illegal to buy essays online?

Many students are worried about legal issues when buying essays online. Since all schools strictly prohibit purchasing papers for money, learners think they’re breaking the law by doing this. But is this really true? In fact, there’s no law against custom writing companies. Their activity is absolutely legal as long as it meets government policies that regulate business functioning. If you turn to an officially registered business, you don’t risk anything.

It’s also important to note that your essay must be plagiarism-free. Of course, submitting a plagiarized paper obtained from an unreliable company can lead to serious consequences. In some countries, you can even get expelled for such actions.

Make sure to read as many customer reviews as possible about the website you’re considering, especially if you’re buying a cheap paper. This is to find out if anyone has faced plagiarism issues with them. Then, you can make your informed choice.

Is it cheating to purchase essays online?

It depends on what you are going to do with the paper that you bought online. If you want to pass it off as your own, then yes, it’s cheating. Representing someone else’s work as your own is an act of academic dishonesty.

Most companies that students use to buy college essays online put disclaimers on their websites that discourage customers from submitting these papers as their own work. According to these disclaimers, any essay paper produced by the website should be used as a model paper for your own essay.

That is to say, if you purchase essay from one of these sites, you have to read it, learn from it, and then write your own essay in your own words.

Where can I buy an essay online?

Today, there are a lot of ways to buy an essay online. Some students go to special forums where they can find peers or experts who complete homework assignments for money. However, it does not always work because you can’t check the qualifications and knowledge of a particular person. Moreover, there are no guarantees that your work will be completed in the right way and on time. Hence, this strategy is quite risky.

The most popular way to buy essay online is by turning to a custom writing company. So-called essay writing services, like PaperHelp.org, provide professional help for students. They usually have a big staff of specialists with extensive experience in academic writing, so you can find an expert that completely meets your requirements and expectations. In addition, credible companies offer a money-back guarantee and unlimited revisions upon your request.

Advantages of Purchasing an Essay From a Reputable Company

It’s important to buy essays only from credible companies with a good reputation among students. First of all, they have a refund policy, which means that you can get your money back if the requirements you’ve set weren’t met by writers. Secondly, reputable companies allow customers to request a revision. If you find errors or think that your paper is generally weak, you can ask a writer to revise it for free.

No matter what questions about your assignment arise, you can always get answers to them via a phone call or chat. And most importantly, top-rated writing agencies always stick to your deadlines. Even if you need your essay to be written in three hours, academic experts will do it for you because there is nothing impossible for them.

Managing all homework independently can be daunting, given the typically packed schedules of students. The substantial workload at school compels many young individuals to seek assistance from essay writing services. Finding the best place to buy essays online is challenging, as the current market is replete with reputable academic writing companies fighting for your attention.

Each of these services has its advantages and disadvantages, which must be carefully considered before making a decision. Hopefully, this article helped you understand the strong points of the most popular writing platforms.

When searching for a professional research paper writer, it is essential to note that there isn’t a ‘one size fits all’ solution.

Some people may need professional paper writers that can tackle tough niches. Some may need their professional paper writers to be fast. Others may have a small amount of cash, so they need their term papers to be done to a budget.

This is why each of the following seven services that provide academic writing will bring something different to the table. If you are looking for an online paper writer, go through each of these services and see which one is right for you.

What we can tell you, however, is that all of these are reputable writing companies helping people to achieve academic success. They all have an impressive track record and countless positive customer reviews to help back up their service.

Let’s jump in and help you to find a company to produce some written papers for you. Here are the seven best research paper writing services in the U.S. according to thousands of reviews:

1. PaperHelp : Best Paper Writing Service Overall

Over a decade in business.

Hundreds of writers available.

All papers are Turnitin-proof, without the use of AI.

Thorough research ensures great quality.

Service is completely anonymous.

Expensive add-ons.

With almost 15 years in the custom research paper writing business, it is safe to say that PaperHelp is good. Companies could only write research papers for this long if they demonstrated that they could offer quality paper writing services.

Their paper writing services start at just $13, but it will be dependent on how many pages you need. However, don’t worry. You will always be offered the best paper writer for the job when you pay.

When you get a custom research paper from PaperHelp, you can be sure that it is plagiarism-free. This is one of the few paper writing websites offering a free plagiarism report to show that your paper is safe to hand in. Of course, you can also get free revisions if you are not happy with the company’s writing style. Although, based on the number of positive reviews, this is unlikely.

While PaperHelp can offer fast delivery (sometimes in one to six hours), this does push the price up a little bit, so we wouldn’t suggest that you use PaperHelp for fast writing. Instead, this company will produce an online paper for your days, sometimes weeks, in advance.

This company is great if you already have your research proposals but don’t need the paper. Ordering this far in advance also means that you can make ample use of those unlimited revisions.

2. BBQPapers : Best Service for Term Papers

Highly qualified writers.

Excellent quality.

Free plagiarism report included.

Free editorial check and revisions available.

Slightly more expensive than other services.

Sign-up required to obtain a price quote.

BBQPapers is one of those research paper writing companies that has been around for a while, but only a few people know about. This is a shame because it offers some of the best term papers. Although, part of this is because BBQPapers is not overloaded with work. This website charges per 100 words, so the prices begin at $17.55 per page (250 words).

BBQPapers is an excellent term paper writing service for getting a well-researched paper on any topic. We have gone through countless samples of theirs, and we can tell that the company knows how to nail that research paper format.

Furthermore, BBQPapers will help you produce something you can hand in. Once again, there are free revisions just in case you are unhappy. Although, since it offers native English speakers, you probably will be.

We love the support team for this site. They are always there to help you. The BBQPapers support team wants to ensure you always work with the best paper writer. Quality is the prime focus of BBQPapers, and it will ensure that it meets your high standards.

Prices are affordable, but the bad thing about this site is there isn’t a price calculator that would help you determine how much your project will cost. However, you can always get a free quote by talking to a customer support agent.

3. SpeedyPaper : Best in Punctuality

Reasonable prices.

Sample papers available for assessing quality before ordering.

Referral program enables earning money.

Punctual service.

This is the best research paper writing service for those who need a paper written quickly and at an affordable price. SpeedyPaper offers research paper writing for as little as $9 a page. Although, once again, the cost of their research paper writing services will change based on what you need to do.

The company can produce quality work incredibly quickly. However, remember that while SpeedyPaper uses professional research paper writers, not all will be native English speakers. This means that you will need to carry out editing yourself. However, this should be fine and is expected from all research paper writing services.

Their research paper writers can tackle any niche. So, don’t worry if you are studying a unique subject at university. We are confident that the SpeedyPaper paper writing services will be able to handle it.

4. 99papers : best for non-stem research papers.

Excels in the humanities.

Most experts hold advanced degrees.

Maintains good quality across all turnaround times.

May not be affordable for budget-conscious students.

When people first start looking to buy research papers online, 99Papers is one of the first companies to jump out at them. This company has been producing custom research papers for over a decade and have worked with thousands and thousands of college students. The prices start at $12.46 per page.

99Papers only hires native English speakers for their writing service. This means that your writing skills will be impeccable when you hire the team at 99Papers for your research project. Such services are tough to come by usually, particularly at this price point. You will have to do some revisions, which is standard for all essay services.

99Papers goes to considerable lengths to hand-pick their writers. People are only hired here if they can prove they are qualified. This means that you will always have a good-quality paper. The writers have proven they have achieved a high level of academic performance.

99Papers can produce papers incredibly quickly. While their service is not the cheapest, university students swear by it. It is still affordable. A price calculator on their site will tell you exactly how much you will be paying before you place your order.

You can request unlimited revisions with 99Papers. It is as easy as dropping a message to your paper writer and telling them what needs to be done.

5. EssayPro : Cheap Research Paper Writing Service, Best for ESL Students

Truly affordable service.

Great option for rush orders.

Bidding platform allows you to choose your expert.

Thousands of positive reviews.

Quality varies depending on the writer selected.

No phone support available.

Starting at just $10.80 per page, EssayPro has a reputation for being one of the cheapest online paper writing services out there. However, keep that from putting you off. If you need a quality paper writer with top writing skills, EssayPro is worth checking out.

This is one of the oldest services online. EssayPro has been offering research papers to those that need a professional research paper writer since 1997. So yeah. The company was founded after the birth of the modern WWW. When a company has been offering term paper writing services this long, it has been able to score some of the best writers for research papers.

The professional writers at EssayPro offer an excellent research paper writing service, but they can also provide any writing services that you need, e.g., dissertations, editing, proofreading, etc. The cost will change based on what you need. They are great for research paper writing help.

6. Studdit : Best for STEM Papers

Fast service with a 3-hour turnaround available.

Specialized expertise in STEM fields.

A wide variety of services available, including calculations, problem solving, and equations.

Regular discounts offered.

Quick and efficient order process.

Rush orders may become expensive.

If you are looking for exceptional writing services for your STEM assignments, then Studdit is an excellent choice. However, Studdit doesn’t just offer paper writing. Their professional writers can also help to produce a great research proposal for you, a staple of many academic papers.

Prices at Studdit start at as little as $13 a page, which isn’t too shabby. More extended and more in-depth research papers may cost a little more, but nothing too crazy. Those writers do need to be paid, after all.

One of the cool things about Studdit is how quickly their research paper writers can produce a custom research paper for you. When it comes to research paper writing services, the company is one of the fastest around.

For a small extra fee, you can have the custom research paper writing service wrapped up in as little as three hours. Perfect for those that don’t start looking for professional writers to produce their academic papers until the last minute.

Almost all of the team that offers research paper writing here is based in the U.S. and Canada. We know that Studdit only uses native speakers for papers it writes.

Studdit is a small name when it comes to paper writing, primarily due to the lack of social media presence. However, we can assure you that Studdit offers one of the best research paper writing services.

7. ExpertWriting : Best for Editing & Proofreading

Writers can mimic your writing style.

Meticulous copy-editing and proofreading services.

Samples available for gauging quality.

Lucrative referral program that allows you to earn discounts or withdraw money.

Pricing varies with the complexity of the subject.

Full refunds are not available.

Not only does ExpertWriting writes decent-quality research papers from scratch, it only provides top-notch editing services. ExpertWriting can review your written papers, identify any issues, and correct them. The price for editing tasks starts at $6, and at $10 for writing.

There are a lot of people that struggle with paper writing. However, they will do their best to produce something legible. ExpertWriting is a good choice if you need someone to polish your paper by working with the structure, grammar, and spelling.

The research paper help given by ExpertWriting can bump you up a grade. We have used this site in conjunction with other essay writing services .

The only downside with ExpertWriting is that its prices may be higher than you would expect for an editor. However, you have to remember that academic essay writing hinges heavily on structure and the overall flow of the paper. Therefore, the services provided are vital if you need the best grades.

How We Identified The Best Research Paper Writing Service

As you know, there are a lot of paper writing websites out there. So, this may have you wondering how we put together our list. Well, let’s explain the criteria that we used.

Positive Reviews

A research paper writing company will often have hundreds, if not thousands, of writers working for them. This is how it will produce your work so quickly.

This means that the writing quality can be sporadic. Everybody has their writing style, after all.

This is why we have looked at user reviews across various services. While we may have had a good experience with one company, our experience may not fully represent what a company can do.

Looking at how other people have experienced the research paper writing service provided by a company gives us more of an idea about what can be expected when you are looking for research paper writing help.

If a company achieves almost universally positive reviews for their research paper writing service, you can bet your bottom dollar that we will recommend it.

Let’s be honest. Most students are going to be struggling for cash. While students would likely love to throw a ton of money at a professional writer, it is only sometimes feasible.

We have opted to include sites with a good balance between cost and service. This means that we have yet to choose the cheapest of the cheap. Some services may offer prices as low as a couple of dollars per page. However, this type of writing service will never be worth it.

Of course, we made an exception with BBQPapers. However, it brought something different to the table, which helped to increase the research paper services’ worth.

Most students need more time to hang around for weeks for their custom research paper writing. In fact, having it completed within a couple of days (or even a few hours) is essential.

We have only selected services that have a ton of writers for their custom research paper writing. This means two things:

It means that they are going to be able to handle work. This increases speed.

You are much more likely to find a research paper writer that can tackle your specific subject.

Of course, we always encourage you to order as soon as possible. The longer you leave it, the higher the price, and the less opportunity your research paper writer will have to make revisions.

Quality of Writers

As we mentioned, some companies will charge an exceedingly low price for their services. Avoid them. The quality of writing produced by the research paper service is vital.

A good research paper writing service will constantly vet their writers. They will be checking that:

The writers are qualified

The writers can produce quality work.

The writers are trained.

In an ideal world, you will choose a research paper helper that only offers native English speakers. All of the companies on this list do. If you have a native English professional writer, then you are much more likely to end up with something that you can hand in and receive a high grade for.

Subject Areas Covered

Any research paper service worth its salt will have countless writers covering all subjects.

The services we have included on this page offer hundreds of different subject areas. It means that no matter how specialized the work needs to be done, there will be a writer to write it.

We have always gone through samples produced by these companies. While we order our own sample research papers from them, the samples give us a good idea of their overall writing standard.

Couple this with other people’s experiences (which we mentioned at the beginning of this section), and we have a solid idea about which companies are great.

Ordering From Professional Research Paper Writers

We understand that many of you may be using these services for the first time. So, we decided to go through how easy it is to place your order. It is just five exceedingly quick steps.

Pick a Service

This part should be dead simple. We have already told you about the best services around. Go through each of the seven websites, and we are confident that at least one of them will offer what you need.

Remember, choose the site based on how much you have to spend and how quickly you need that work completed.

Again, easy. Most sites will have a quick sign-up process. To ensure that their customer’s details are kept private, they will require only a minimal amount of information from you.

If you are a first-time customer on a platform, you can enjoy extra special discounts. Although, it doesn’t matter too much if they aren’t there. Most places should be affordable anyway.

Place Your Order

Again, this is simple. Most sites will have a form to fill in. You can enter information such as:

The type of paper you need

How many pages/words

The quality

Your area of study

The site will then tell you how much you need to pay for your custom paper. If you want to pay, then follow the checkout process. You will typically be able to pay with your credit or debit card. Some companies may also accept PayPal, which is a bit more convenient.

Talk To The Writer

When you place your order, you will typically give your writer enough details so they can get to work immediately. However, they still may drop you a message now and then.

If the assigned writer asks you any questions, then answer them. It will result in a far better piece of work.

Download and Edit Your Work

Once the writing is complete, it will be sent to you. The site will normally have a download system that you can use. Contact customer support if you are unhappy with the work and ask for edits.

If you are happy with the work, edit it in your unique writing style and submit it to your school/university.

FAQ: Research Paper Services Explained

Is there any risk with purchasing a research paper.

Assuming that you use a reputable provider, there should be no risk. All seven sites we have listed on this page are reputable. You should be fine.

You should only choose companies that offer quality writers. You will also want to ensure that they guarantee that your research paper will be plagiarism-free.

This is part of the reason why we look at reviews for a variety of companies. It allows us to see other people’s experience with that company. So, for example, if people have noted plagiarism or low-quality work, we tend to recommend something other than that provider.

How Do You Find The Best Research Paper Writer?

Most services will not allow you to choose your writer. This is why it is so important to choose an online research paper writing site that goes to great lengths to ensure all of its writers are vetted.

It would be best if you didn’t spend too little on a writer. We know that it can be tempting to get the lowest possible price. Students only have a little cash, after all. However, if you are paying under $9 a page, you won’t end up with something good.

If you read customer reviews and look at writing samples, this should give you an idea about how good a company is.

Can You Order Complicated Research Papers Such As Legal or Medical Research?

Yes. However, only some research paper writing services will offer this. This is because both legal and medical writing requires highly-experienced writers.

In our experience, PaperHelp is one of the best providers of legal and medical writing. This is because it has experts in these fields of study on their team. These experts will know how to research properly and provide you with a paper that should help you to achieve a high grade.

Why Should You Use a Research Paper Writing Service?

Sometimes, it is too challenging to produce academic papers with the frequency that many educational establishments want you to write them. Still, there are plenty of other reasons you may want to use a service like this.

Boosts Grades

Some people just aren’t cut out for research paper writing, even if they are academically gifted.

If you struggle with writing your papers but thrive in every other area, using a service like this could benefit your overall grades.

These services will be run by people that know what a research paper requires.

Even if you only need part of the paper written, these services can help to edit what you have already produced. Again, this can lead to a grade boost.

Many research paper helpers can produce papers exceedingly quickly. Quicker than you would likely be able to. This means you can order your research paper even if your deadline quickly closes in. Although, we always recommend that you order your writing as far in advance as possible.

Easy To Order

Using these services is now easier than ever before. For example, you can order a research paper in just a few minutes.

Is It Easy To Order a Technical Research Paper?

Yes. However, you must use the right company for it. For example, a technical research paper will require writers that have specialist knowledge.

If a non-expert has produced a technical research paper, then you can bet your bottom dollar that your tutors will be able to tell.

We recommend BBQPapers for technical research paper writing. The company has some of the most experienced and highly qualified writers, and they cover most subject areas.

Is It Easy To Order a Survey Research Paper?

A survey research paper can take a lot of work to produce. Most companies will not offer them due to the sheer amount of work that needs to be poured into making something great. One of the few companies that provide survey research papers is BBQPapers. This company has a vast number of writers that cover the more specialist research paper writing areas.

How Can You Stay Safe When Ordering a Research Paper Online?

Always use reputable companies. The companies listed on this page will go to great lengths to protect their customers’ details. It means that nobody will ever know that you are ordering a research paper. Even the writer won’t know.

Make sure that any company you use offers some plagiarism guarantee.

You will also want to carry out editing of anything that a company produces for you. This way, you can be sure it is written in your voice. Your tutors will be less likely to spot that you have used an online writing service.

Conclusion: Order An Essay Writing Service Today

Research papers are the bane of any student. The writing process isn’t exciting at all as they are tough to write, but they contribute to a good chunk of your final grade. Some students can’t hack them. Their brain doesn’t think like that. Others get overloaded with college papers and need more time to complete them.

When it comes to research paper writing services, a company that may be good for one person may not necessarily be good for another.

We have given you seven different sites on this page. Check out each of them. See which suits your needs the best.

All of these services are great. We are confident that no matter which service you end up ordering from, you can be sure that your research paper will be completed to the highest possible standard.
