When you set up your account , you choose which courses you need to study, and Khan Academy sets up a personal dashboard of instructional videos, practice exercises, and quizzes –with both correct and incorrect answer explanations–so you can learn at your own pace. 

As an added bonus, it covers more course topics than many other homework help sites, including several AP classes.

Runner Up: Brainly.com offers a free service that allows you to type in questions and get answers and explanations from experts. The downside is that you’re limited to two answers per question and have to watch ads. 

Best Paid Homework Help Site: Chegg

• Price: $14.95 to $19.95 per month
• Best for: 24/7 homework assistance  

This service has three main parts . The first is Chegg Study, which includes textbook solutions, Q&A with subject experts, flashcards, video explanations, a math solver, and writing help. The resources are thorough, and reviewers state that Chegg answers homework questions quickly and accurately no matter when you submit them.  

Chegg also offers textbook rentals for students who need access to textbooks outside of their classroom. Finally, Chegg offers Internship and Career Advice for students who are preparing to graduate and may need a little extra help with the transition out of high school. 

Another great feature Chegg provides is a selection of free articles geared towards helping with general life skills, like coping with stress and saving money. Chegg’s learning modules are comprehensive, and they feature solutions to the problems in tons of different textbooks in a wide variety of subjects. 

Runner Up: Bartleby offers basically the same services as Chegg for $14.99 per month. The reason it didn’t rank as the best is based on customer reviews that say user questions aren’t answered quite as quickly on this site as on Chegg. Otherwise, this is also a solid choice!

Best Site for Math Homework Help: Photomath

• Price: Free (or $59.99 per year for premium services) 
• Best for: Explaining solutions to math problems

This site allows you to t ake a picture of a math problem, and instantly pulls up a step-by-step solution, as well as a detailed explanation of the concept. Photomath also includes animated videos that break down mathematical concepts to help you better understand and remember them. 

The basic service is free, but for an additional fee you can get extra study tools and learn additional strategies for solving common math problems.

Runner Up: KhanAcademy offers in-depth tutorials that cover complex math topics for free, but you won’t get the same tailored help (and answers!) that Photomath offers. 

Best Site for English Homework Help: Princeton Review Academic Tutoring

• Price: $40 to $153 per month, depending on how many hours of tutoring you want 
• Best for: Comprehensive and personalized reading and writing help 

While sites like Grammarly and Sparknotes help you by either proofreading what you write via an algorithm or providing book summaries, Princeton Review’s tutors provide in-depth help with vocabulary, literature, essay writing and development, proofreading, and reading comprehension. And unlike other services, you’ll have the chance to work with a real person to get help. 

The best part is that you can get on-demand English (and ESL) tutoring from experts 24/7. That means you can get help whenever you need it, even if you’re pulling an all-nighter! 

This is by far the most expensive homework site on this list, so you’ll need to really think about what you need out of a homework help website before you commit. One added benefit is that the subscription covers over 80 other subjects, including AP classes, which can make it a good value if you need lots of help!  

Best Site for STEM Homework Help: Studypool

• Best for: Science homework help
• Price: Varies; you’ll pay for each question you submit

When it comes to science homework help, there aren’t a ton of great resources out there. The best of the bunch is Studypool, and while it has great reviews, there are some downsides as well. 

Let’s start with the good stuff. Studypool offers an interesting twist on the homework help formula. After you create a free account, you can submit your homework help questions, and tutors will submit bids to answer your questions. You’ll be able to select the tutor–and price point–that works for you, then you’ll pay to have your homework question answered. You can also pay a small fee to access notes, lectures, and other documents that top tutors have uploaded. 

The downside to Studypool is that the pricing is not transparent . There’s no way to plan for how much your homework help will cost, especially if you have lots of questions! Additionally, it’s not clear how tutors are selected, so you’ll need to be cautious when you choose who you’d like to answer your homework questions.  

What Are the Pros and Cons of Using Homework Help Sites?

Homework help websites can be a great resource if you’re struggling in a subject, or even if you just want to make sure that you’re really learning and understanding topics and ideas that you’re interested in. But, there are some possible drawbacks if you don’t use these sites responsibly.

First, let’s take a look at the benefits. 

#1: Better Grades Beyond Homework

This is a big one! Getting outside help with your studies can improve your understanding of concepts that you’re learning, which translates into better grades when you take tests or write essays. 

Remember: homework is designed to help reinforce the concepts you learned in class. If you just get easy answers without learning the material behind the problems, you may not have the tools you need to be successful on your class exams…or even standardized tests you’ll need to take for college. 

#2: Convenience

One of the main reasons that online homework help is appealing is because it’s flexible and convenient. You don’t have to go to a specific tutoring center while they’re open or stay after school to speak with your teacher. Now, let’s take a look at the drawbacks of online homework help. 

#1: Unreliable Info

This can be a real problem. In addition to all the really good homework help sites, there are a whole lot of disreputable or unreliable sites out there. The fact of the matter is that some homework help sites don’t necessarily hire people who are experts in the subjects they’re talking about. In those cases, you may not be getting the accurate, up-to-date, and thorough information you need.

Additionally, even the great sites may not be able to answer all of your homework questions. This is especially true if the site uses an algorithm or chatbot to help students…or if you’re enrolled in an advanced or college-level course. In these cases, working with your teacher or school-provided tutors are probably your best option. 

#2: No Clarification

This depends on the service you use, of course. But the majority of them provide free or low-cost help through pre-recorded videos. Watching videos or reading info online can definitely help you with your homework… but you can’t ask questions or get immediate feedback if you need it .

#3: Potential For Scamming 

Like we mentioned earlier, there are a lot of homework help websites out there, and lots of them are scams. The review comments we read covered everything from outdated or wrong information, to misleading claims about the help provided, to not allowing people to cancel their service after signing up. 

No matter which site you choose to use, make sure you research and read reviews before you sign up–especially if it’s a paid service! 

When Does “Help” Become “Cheating”?

Admittedly, whether using homework help websites constitutes cheating is a bit of a grey area. For instance, is it “help” when a friend reads your essay for history class and corrects your grammar, or is it “cheating”? The truth is, not everyone agrees on when “help” crosses the line into “cheating .” When in doubt, it can be a good idea to check with your teacher to see what they think about a particular type of help you want to get. 

That said, a general rule of thumb to keep in mind is to make sure that the assignment you turn in for credit is authentically yours . It needs to demonstrate your own thoughts and your own current abilities. Remember: the point of every homework assignment is to 1) help you learn something, and 2) show what you’ve learned. 

So if a service answers questions or writes essays for you, there’s a good chance using it constitutes cheating. 

Here’s an example that might help clarify the difference for you. Brainstorming essay ideas with others or looking online for inspiration is “help” as long as you write the essay yourself. Having someone read it and give you feedback about what you need to change is also help, provided you’re the one that makes the changes later. 

But copying all or part of an essay you find online or having someone write (or rewrite) the whole thing for you would be “cheating.” The same is true for other subjects. Ultimately, if you’re not generating your own work or your own answers, it’s probably cheating.

Just because a homework help site is good overall doesn’t mean that it’s equally good for every subject. If you only need help in math, choose a site that specializes in that area. An impact study was undertaken to understand ‘To what extent does using MyMaths save teachers time?’ It included interviews with 22 teachers across Primary and Secondary schools in England. The time they reported saving varied from 15 minutes to 5 hours a week, with the average saving being around 2 hours a week.

An impact study is research that investigates a particular change or outcome that a product or service has on the group of people it is intended to help or benefit.

A representative payee is someone who receives your monthly benefit payment on your behalf and must use the money to pay for your current needs.

These include:

• Personal care items.
• Housing and utilities.
• Medical and dental expenses.
• Rehabilitation expenses (if you have a disability).

If you need help managing your benefits, tell a Social Security representative that there is someone you want to be your representative payee.

Your representative payee should be someone you trust and see often, and who clearly understands your needs.

Social service agencies, nursing homes, or other organizations are also qualified to be a representative payee. Ask them to contact us.

You can write to us within 60 days of being assigned a representative payee if you don’t agree that you need one or if you want a different representative payee.

We also offer Advance Designation, which allows you to designate someone to be your representative payee in the future. There may come a time when you can no longer make your own financial decisions. You and your family will have peace of mind knowing that someone you trust may be appointed to manage your benefits for you.

You can submit your Advance Designation request when you apply for benefits or after you are already receiving benefits. You may do so through your personal my Social Security account at www.ssa.gov/myaccount or by calling and speaking to a Social Security representative.

My brother has been eligible for full benefits for over a year. He may have been qualified for disability benefits for much much longer, as is his wife. Both of them are significantly impaired, due to a genetic defect. I can’t get him to apply, although he says he has gone in and said “they just let him sit there, no one helped”. I would happily negotiate this for both of them, be a representative payee, or if someone would take a personal interest, recognizing their additional needs… that could also work. I am in Germany (USAF), he is in Wells Maine. How can they be helped ? Where is the personal touch ?

If a person likes the idea of a rep payee, but lives in another country, say, the Philippines, and collects social Security, can they choose someone who lives there, or is it a requirement for the rep to be a U. S citizen?

*NOTICE* if THE OVERPAYMENT allegedly happened in 2020 it should be waived and dismissed. Some all the way up to 2023. So check your notices people. 2020-2023, you qualify to have it waived and removed.

I do not understand why its required to get a lawyer to file for benefits. Money you and employers have put away for you. Not for SSA or an SSA payee. Its a scam. Its the payee lawyers committing fraud and getting away with millions. SSA and Dept of Treasury that colluded with the most corrupt bank in this country that chose that bank to issue the worst debit card scam in history to rob the most vulnerable people of their benefits. Billions have been robbed from the people by hackers. No more than you file a dispute and have another card issued the very next month your card is hacked again. Every debit card company I talked with is shocked it takes up to 90 days to get a refund, when it shouldnt take more than 7 days. Especially when 1 hacker has been using Google to drain millions from cards. This was reported in 2012 and they are still hacking cards. Comerica Bank–SSA and Treasury still has done nothing to stop it. Because the Federal Govt is a certified CORPORATION and not a govt. The same for Washington DC/Dist of Columbia Municipal & Territorial Jurisdictions are also a Foreign For Profit Corporation, aka US INC. A British entity controls everything in this country. Even selecting a CEO every 4 years to their corporation. No president has been elected by the people in over a century. US Navy and Congress helped create this illegal/unlawful entity because they were sick of the peoples power and wanted more power than the people by enslaving everyone at birth, stealing their identity then all your assets til death. Every single official, politician, employee. public servant of the Fed/State/Local govt are contracted to this corporation, and are loyal to. Not the people, its right in front of your eyes. Corruption has tripled, destroying the Constitution has amped up, the manipulated DISTRACTIONS are endless,using manipulating weather and frequencies,injecting millions with remote technology to kill you,total invasion of the worlds worst beings walking the earth…flooding our homeland raping us of all our resources, property, hard work…Universal Natural Rights on this planet…above any govt, any corporation,bank,court,law, constitution, country, secret society, species, dangerous ideology from unstable wealthy evil elite monsters. WARNING! Representatives can also allow those mentally ill to become their own payees in order to assist them in loosing their benefits when they cannot handle the responsibility. I seen that happen to a young man in his early 20’s, they allowed him to manage his money… Then all of a sudden his money was gone. I picked up that he was being targeted by some individuals and sneered into a trap to loose his funds. It’s sad and angering at the same time that people take advantage of disabled people and it’s more than likely coming from the SSA affiliate contractors.

The SSA wouldn’t pay me until I got a representative payee. I got pressured and tricked into signing a form appointing a representative payee.

A claimant who is 18 years old or over, mentally competent, and physically able to do so, MUST sign his or her own application. See 20 C.F.R. 404.612(a)

If the claimant is under age 18, or mentally incompetent, or physically unable to sign, the application may be signed by a court appointed representative or a person who is responsible for the care of the claimant, including a relative. If the claimant is in the care of an institution, the manager or principal officer of the institution may sign the application. see 20 C.F.R. 404.612(c)

The SSA appointed me a representative payee before they came up with the advance designation. The advance designation is a trap just like telling people they won’t be paid unless I get a representative payee.

I asked the SSA representative to find a representative payee, but they refused. They told me I had to find my own representative payee and sign a form agreeing to appoint a representative payee. I messed up and signed that form and got stuck with a representative payee. Don’t sign anything even if they threatened to withhold your payment.

Signing up for the advance designation of a representative payee is new version of the old trap of withholding your payment. You sign the advance designation of a representative payee and you sign away your rights.

A claimant who can’t sign the application has no rights. Those claimants will be appointed a representative payee.

Remember that you have to have the capacity to advance designate to sign the advance designation. You are signing away your rights.

The retirement and disability application requires an initial determination. The representative payee is also an initial determination but not an initial determination for retirement or disability application. The initial determination is for the advance designation of a representative payee you signed up for.

Farming in Manor Lords takes a lot of work to understand and it’s hard to make it work properly. There’s a lot to consider — from soil fertility to acreage (morgenage?) to processing the crops — and it can be really frustrating and time-consuming if you mess something up.

Our Manor Lords farming guide will explain how farming works, including finding the best place for your farm fields, how big to make them, how to rotate your crops, and how all of the crops are used.

How farming works in Manor Lords

We’ll get into more specifics below, but let’s talk about all the pieces you’ll need to have an effective farm in Manor Lords .

First, you’ll need to find a fertile patch of land and place some fields on it. But the fields can’t be too big (see below) or else they won’t get planted in time for the crop to grow and you’ll miss out on an entire year of farming. You’ll also need to make sure you have farmers available during the times of year when farm work needs to be done — mostly just in the autumn.

Once it’s done, you’ll have a crop that doesn’t actually do your town any good — all of the crops in Manor Lords have to be processed by at least one (and usually several) other buildings before it becomes a useable good.

If all of that sounds complicated, that’s because it is. Let’s go through every step of farming in Manor Lords so you can get your farm up and running.

Fertility overlays tell you where to place farms

When you hit the Construction button, you’ll have Overlay options on the left side of your screen that put a heatmap overlay on top of the map.

For farming, we’ll focus on emmer , flax , and barley fertility . The fertility the overlay is showing you is basically how much of a given crop that chunk of land will produce. Red means not much, yellow is average, and green is quite a bit.

Emmer (wheat) is what you’ll use to make bread, flax becomes linen for clothes, and barley can be turned into ale — all of which figure into upgrading your burgage plots and the settlement’s level .

Barley is (arguably) the most important crop , followed by emmer (wheat). Look for an area with at least yellow fertility that doesn’t overlap with other resources like wild animals or berry deposits.

Once you find one, we can start building fields.

Start with small fields

In the Construction menu, pick Farming and then choose a Field. This will let you place four points to define a plot of farmland.

As you place your points, you’ll see the area of the plot measured in morgen . The specifics that particular unit of measurement aren’t worth getting into right now (and they’re confusing as hell). For our purposes, know that a single family working on a farm can manage — plow, plant, and harvest — about 2 ⁄ 3 morgen per year .

While the farm plots might look small, even just 0.6 morgen of wheat field grows enough wheat (to turn into grain to turn into flour to turn into bread) to feed a town of 100 people and still have a surplus.

When you’re ready to start farming, you’ll also need a farmhouse (3 timber). This is where you can assign a family to start working the fields. What they do, though, depends on the season.

Seasons determine what happens on a farm

What tasks your farm takes on depends on the season — there’s a bit of wiggle room on the dates, but the following is generally true.

Starting in the autumn, the family assigned to a farm will look for a nearby field (basically any field in the region) and start to plow it. Plowing is followed by sowing, which also has to happen in autumn. If a field isn’t plowed and sowed by the time winter starts in December that field will be fallow for the year — you’ll also get a notification about it. Like we mentioned above, a family can harvest, plow, and sow about 0.6 morgen during a season.

For spring and summer, there’s nothing to do on the farm except watch the crops grow.

The following autumn, the family will harvest the crops, plow the fields, and then sow the next year’s crop. If the crop you just harvested was wheat (emmer), it’ll be taken to the farm where it’s threshed into grain.

Over time, planting the same crop over and over will reduce the fertility (and productivity) of a field. To avoid that, you’ve got a couple options, but the easiest is just to rotate your crops.

Rotate your crops to restore fertility

When you click on a field, you’ll get a menu that allows you to pick what type of crop to grow the next year — wheat, flax, or barley. You also have the option to not grow anything at all and to let the field lie fallow . Setting a field to fallow for a year restores that field’s fertility.

Setting a field to fallow means you won’t get any crops from that field for the (next) year, though. But, with a bit of planning, you can avoid that too. Instead of creating one big field, start your farm with three fields that are each (about) 0.3 morgen in size. When you open each field’s menu, click on the checkbox for crop rotation and then:

• Set the first field to wheat, wheat, fallow
• Set the second field to wheat, fallow, wheat
• Set the third field to fallow, wheat, wheat

This means that you’ll only ever have two fields with crops planted — for a total of 0.6 morgen worth of crops. That just so happens to be about how much a family can manage in a year. Meanwhile, you’ll always have one fallow field that’s resetting its fertility.

Unlock the heavy plow to farm faster

As you level up your town , you’ll earn development points that unlock new technologies for your town to use. One of the first you can get is the heavy plow . This lets you add a plowing station to your farm and use an oxen to plow and move crops. This increases the area a family can handle by quite a bit — to the point where you can basically double the size of your fields (or just have twice as many fields and crops).

How to use wheat, flax, and barley in Manor Lords

Each of the crops you grow don’t do anything for you in their raw form. They all have to be processed (at least once) before they’re usable.

• Wheat gets threshed at the farm and turned into grain. From there, you’ll need a windmill (4 timber) to turn it into flour and a communal oven (2 timber) to turn that flour into bread. At that point, it’ll get sold in the marketplace as food.
• Flax needs to be taken to a weaver workshop (4 timber) that will turn it into linen. Linen heads to the marketplace and satisfies your town’s need for clothing, but it can be processed further. A burgage plot (level 2) with an extension slot can be turned into a tailor’s workshop (5 Regional Wealth, 5 planks). That artisan workshop will make gambesons from just linen, but can also make clothes from linen and dye — which, in turn, comes from a dyer’s workshop (2 timber).
• Barley heads to a malthouse (4 timber) to become malt. From there, you’ll need a burgage plot (level 2) that’s been turned into a brewery to turn the malt into ale. Ale isn’t useful on its own, though, so you’ll also need a tavern (5 timber) with a family assigned to it so the ale gets distributed.

LONDON -- Online fast-fashion retailer Shein must face the European Union's strictest level of digital regulations, the bloc said on Friday as it added the company to its list of big platforms that need extra scrutiny.

The EU's Executive Commission said it formally classed Shein as a “very large online platform” under the 27-nation bloc's Digital Services Act, an expansive rulebook designed to clean up online platforms and keep internet users safe.

Shein is a low-cost online retailer that was founded in China but is now based in Singapore. It reaches customers mainly through its app. The company said it will “work constructively” to "deliver a safe and compliant environment for our online community.”

“We share the Commission’s ambition to ensure consumers in the EU can shop online with peace of mind, and we are committed to playing our part," Leonard Lin, Shein's global head of public affairs, said in a statement. “We also share a commitment to the principles of transparency and accountability that are at the core of the DSA."

Shein has had a meteoric rise in the West by offering low-cost apparel and household items, primarily targeting younger women through social media partnerships with online influencers and celebrities.

Because it has more than 45 million European users, Shein has to start obeying the most stringent requirements by August. They include taking specific measures to protect online users and assessing and mitigating any “systemic risks” from its services, such as limiting the sale of illegal or counterfeit products.

Shein's obligations also include adjusting its user interfaces and recommendation algorithms to prevent risks to consumer safety and well-being, and filing annual risk assessment reports evaluating potential harm to consumers, especially children, the commission said.

The EU already has 22 tech names including Facebook , TikTok , YouTube , Instagram, Amazon and Google Search on its list of the biggest online services that need the toughest tier of supervision since the DSA took effect last year. Other online services operating in the EU aren't exempt - they still have to comply with the law's general requirements. Violations are punishable by fines of up to 6% of a company's annual worldwide revenue.
