Verify that the computer selection switch is set to the correct type of software you are using if the remote still does not work correctly. Lift the cover off of the battery compartment. Move the switch to "Mac PowerPoint," "Mac KeyNote," or "PC PowerPoint" if you are using a computer made by Acer, Sony, Fujitsu, Gateway, Toshiba, Dell, HP/Compaq, IBM/Lenovo, Asus, Panasonic or another computer manufacturer.

Confirm that the battery polarity is correct by checking that the positive and negative ends of both batteries match the battery compartment's markings. Replace the remote's two AAA batteries with fresh new ones if the remote still does not work correctly. Place the cover back on the remote.

Verify that you are within 15 meters or 50 feet apart from the computer and mini-USB receiver.

Move nearby wireless device base units farther away from the remote's receiver if your remote still does not work correctly.

Turn off nearby wireless devices and their base units.

Targus laser presentation remote does not work with windows 7

Hello everybody,

I have a Targus laser presentation remote AMP13EU and it does not work with my windows 7.

I tried it with windows 8 and 10 and it works.

The problem is that windows are not able to install the device and cannot find the pilot while normally the device does not require any pilot. It is a plug and play device.

It's the second remote presenter I bought and does not work and the problem is with windows 7.

Could someone help me to figure out this issue?

Did you make any changes to your computer prior to the issue?

Method 1: Use the hardware troubleshooter to fix the issue.

The Hardware Troubleshooter is an automated tool which will check the hardware connected to the computer for any known issues with it and provides the details and on how to fix them. Follow these steps and run the troubleshooter.

Click on Start button
Clicking on Control Panel .
In the search box, type troubleshooter .
Click Troubleshooting
Under Hardware and Sound
Click Configure a device .‌ ( If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation).

If the issue persists, follow method 2.

Perform the method 1 to 5 in the Microsoft help article given below:

Error: “USB Device not recognized” when you try to access a USB external hard drive.

If the issue still persists, follow method 3.

Method 3: U ninstall and reinstall the Usb driver

I would also suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the latest audio drivers from the Manufacturer website.

Press Windows key + R on the keyboard
In run window type devmgmt.msc
Locate audio devices and expand the same
Right-click on the USB driver and then uninstall the drivers.
Reboot the computer after uninstall process has finished.

Now, please visit to Targus and download the latest USB drivers.

I tried all the methods you suggested to me but unfortunately I still have the same issue.

The Targus laser presentation remote does not have any driver. It's a plug-and-paly device.

1. My comuter is a Dell XPS L322X and I have Window 7 (64 bits)

2. I didn't make any change to my computer before this issue.

3. I installed all the updates so I don't have any pending updates.

After the manip I have done my usb port does not work anymore! It is unable to detect any device.

When I uninstall the two usb hub root in the device manager and retsrat my PC, it works for some moments and after it shows me a message saying windows unable to install the driver of the device and the port is not working anymore. However the usb hub root appears again and the drivers are updated.

This issue is only with my usb 2.0 port. I have another usb 3.0 port that works well.

Please help!

i have the same but mine was working with windows 7, but after updateing to windows 10 mine will not work th computer dectects to usb part being pluged in but i will not work in presentations is there driver updates to fix this?
