Kick Review
Star cast: Salman Khan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Randeep Hooda, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Mithun Chakraborty, Archana Puran Singh, Saurabh Shukla, Sanjay Mishra, Kavin Dave, Sumona Chakravarti
Director: Sajid Nadiadwala
What’s Good: Salman-Jacqueline’s palpable chemistry and the high octane action pieces that are nothing short of brilliant. Nawazuddin is more fantastic than you expect him to be. If Salman is a superhero, Siddiqui is quite a super villain. I wish there was more of him in the film.
What’s Bad: The first half drags in places, with the humor drooping the film’s tempo. Not to mention, the film should have been called Dhoom 4 for all the right reasons.
Loo break: Very Few.
Watch or Not?: Kick is an official amalgamation of Dhoom and a bunch of trademark Salman films. To its credit, the film quite achieves what it sets out for: massy trappings. Salman in very few roles genuinely seems to enjoy himself and Kick is one of the sparing few. If you don’t mind paying for massive canvas, high voltage action, chemistry with a tinge of electricity and songs that will get you ecstatic – this is your shot at getting a solid high! Whistle baja time ‘coz this is a Bollywood fillum.
Devi Lal Singh (Salman Khan) is an accomplished guy but cannot hold on to a job because nothing gives him kick enough. He is always looking for life to give him a high. Coincidence brings him to Shaina (Jacqueline Fernandez) who gives him the high he is looking for at the love front.
The two part ways initially but meet later in the oddest of circumstances when Shaina is Devi’s only hope in achieving a mission that comes for a bigger cause. Devi is no more the man Shaina had loved but has transformed into Devil.
Why does Devi walk back into Shaina’s life? What instigated his transformation to Devil? Will the two ever get back? And finally what is the mission that Devi is on and is it right or wrong?
Kick Review: Script Analysis
It isn’t a surprise but the film has no story. If you are expecting intellect, I will doubt yours. Devil Lal Singh is a superhero. To make it more believable, the makers even gave a Krrish mask to the man, who has topped every exam he has appeared in and broken every bone that has come his way. You buy no bit of the story, how he falls in love to how they break up to how he turns into Devil. The film’s first half is lukewarm. There is nothing sizzling in it and despite the leading duo’s cutesy chemistry, there is a zing missing from the first half.
This film isn’t without flaws, but isn’t replete with them as crucial ones have been avoided. A bunch of major logic lapses are present in the film but you can prefer to ignore those. Though after a highly dramatic action scene, Salman’s bus falls into the river and in the next scene he is in Delhi, one wonders what really happened. It is disparate and lacks consistency. The sudden leap doesn’t work. The chemistry between the characters is kept smooth but I could not digest the emotional angle of the film either. Somehow, it seemed Salman was still trying his luck at selling Jai Ho . Bro, let it go. It ain’t gonna happen!
In the second half, very little time was invested in exploring Salman and Jacqueline’s track. Though time was well spent on Nawazuddin, a little more of him would have helped the film better. Salman and Nawaz’s face off scene in the climax keeps you engaged for the repartee.
My only issue with the film was its title; it could have been more aptly called Dhoom 4 . In most action sequences, when cars were blowing or when Salman was plotting his attack, my mind automatically played Dhoom Dhoom Dhoom (to be specific, the background music of Dhoom 2 ) The film is a grander version of Dhoom, that almost seems to further the franchise. Too bad, story wasn’t a concern for the writers since they had Salman to endorse the gibberish they had churned out. If this film was made with a different cast, we could have rechristened it ‘Kicked’- by critics. Thriving solely on Bhai’s charisma and the movie’s action, the film doesn’t even try its hand at pushing the boundaries of crisply packaged Salman Khan fare.
Kick Review: Star Performances
Salman Khan is having a blast in the film. Unlike most roles, Khan was seen having some great fun in the film. He says his dialogues with a wicked gusto and plays Devil with an evil flair and brutal swagger.
Jacqueline Fernandez is not just a pretty face as the actress brings out in her role the desired charm. Her chemistry with Khan has an appealing quality to it that became the sole saving grace of an otherwise boring first half.
Randeep Hooda is a great actor but he boils himself down to caricaturish mannerisms. He plays Abhishek Bachchan from Dhoom sans improvisations.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui was par excellence. I don’t think any other actor of recent times has nailed the character of villain this brilliantly. There’s a reason Siddiqui’s name carries with him a certain weight. One might presume such films don’t do any justice to his caliber, but this supervillain rocked the movie even more. Nawaz isn’t just cut out for class, he can do potboilers much better than regular actors!
Mithun Chakraborty was a pleasant surprise and despite limited screen space, he brings a fabulous color to his character.
Saurabh Shukla was used too little in the film and hence he doesn’t do much to add value.
Kick Review: Direction, Editing and Screenplay
Sajid Nadiadwala doesn’t make ordinary films and his debut vehicle has enough to convey that. It was a pompous affair where the story was needless but the magnitude of the film scores. Probably it is Sajid who was instrumental in getting Salman to enjoy his work so much. Though the director didn’t insist on improving the script at hand, he did his best in making an opulent film.
By design, this film is full of clap traps, action and drama but had Nadiadwala used the melodrama with a better logic, the film would have turned out better. Sajid captured the thrills well but the art of story telling is something the director still needs to get a hang of. It wasn’t difficult to make out this was a débutant’s work. At multiple points in the second half, the film’s energy dropped really low that I was expecting the next slide will feature end credits, when there was a good 20 minutes left to go. Coherence comes with experience and Nadiadwala needs to pick it up over time.
The film’s music is spectacular. The Devil song’s surprise version rather worked better for me. The film’s cinematography was commendably delivered. But the best part was the action that was sumptuously executed. The magnificence of the action scenes were breathtaking. Arasu’s top notch action added better bling to the film. Rendering thrill, chill and satisfying fun, the superb action gives the desired adrenaline rush, the film’s theme uses in its core.
Kick Review: The Last Word
Kick isn’t a pile-on, on Salman’s harebrained repertoire. Luckily, it has the thrill in its action parts and the fuzziness in its romantic ones. Salman sinks his teeth in a character that is a blend of his best roles, delivering a film that is a welcome change from his regular formulaic potboilers. Nawazuddin’s performance upps the bar of mainstream villains by manifolds and Jacqueline’s chemistry with Khan is sexy. Kick is no Ek Tha Tiger but it is an effectively enjoyable film that crackles enough to gives us bang for our buck! I am going with a generous 3/5. Kick isn’t kickass but gives a delicious rush.

Kick - Movie Review
Kick is the new synonym for adrenaline rush in India and soon this will take over the entire world too. Having released in 4000 plus screens in the country and 700 plus screens overseas, Kick is a well knit tale about an adrenaline junkie, Salman Khan aka 'Devil' who does things differently just to get a 'Kick' out of it.
The story of Kick is not applaud worthy as it is a remake of Telugu movie of the same name. The movie will start with Shaina ( Jacqueline Fernandez ), a psychiatrist meeting her perspective groom, Himanshu ( Randeep Hooda ) on a train journey in Warsaw. Neither of these characters are interested in an arranged union, but on getting to know each other, the two become very good friends. This is when Shaina decides to reveal secrets about her past, mainly her ex-boyfriend, Devil (Salman Khan). The movie goes into flashback here, and bang comes the entry of the hero. After she shares her story, Himanshu too shares his escapades as a police officer and boasts off on how he has finally met his match, an intelligent thief, again the Devil (Salman Khan).
Both Shaina and Himanshu are unaware of the fact that they are talking about the same person. Salman is not playing the role of a Devil or of a superman, he is just an ordinary guy who does things differently to get a 'Kick' out of it. At this point the story is back on track, that is it now moves in present tense and how the Devil again enters their life, how it changes the whole scenario in the movie and why he turns into a devil form the crux of the movie.
Salman and Jacqueline's roles were essayed by Telugu superstar Ravi Teja and Bollywood's latest entrant, Ileana D'Cruz. This film was a typical Ravi Teja entertainer with enough comedy that kept the audience breaking into laughter every now and then.
Ravi Teja did justice to his carefree character and since he is an expert in portraying such roles repeatedly in films after films, it was quite easy for him to reprise such a role again. Coming to Salman Khan, the man is different, even though the movie is a remake, this being a Salman film, the makers have tried to make the entire film seem and sound different. But trust me it is not!
Yeah, the concept of Devil is new, though the character does do bad things, in the end it's for the good of someone else. There is a deep mystery and it is an uncompromising mission for which Devil is ready to lose his life. Why this devilishness gets imbibed in him cannot to be revealed, to know that you will have to watch the film. This being Sajid Nadiadwala 's debut direction, only adds to the curiosity level to watch the film.
We have seen Salman do such roles in Dabangg as well, where by heart he is a good man, but he does do bad things to bad people. Devil is just a modern, revamped version of Robin Hood Pandey. If you remember Salman's dialogue in Dabangg , you'll know what I am talking about (Hum yahan ke Robin Hood hain, Robin Hood Pandey).
Salman Khan has done a lot of south remakes in the past few years and strangely they have clicked for Salman's version has always been bigger and better, his movies actually give us a kick! So this 2014 version of Kick will also be bigger and better than 2009 version. He truly is a star whose power we cannot understand, "Main Dil mein aata hoon, samajh mein nahin". Continue to read Kick movie review in the slide show.
Salman Khan
Yes, his sheer presence in the movie makes it a better movie and this 'Devil' avatar is just too intriguing, for which alone we need to watch this movie.

Salman-Jacqueline
Jacqueline revealed that she expected Kick to go to an A-list actress, but what she herself doesn't know is that she could not have been more perfect. They make for one awesome couple whose chemistry seems to be oozing everywhere.

Kick movie review: This Salman Khan film is ‘Unjhelable’
“we know that a salman film is created solely to display his ‘andaaz’ designed to send his fans into a swoon.”.
Kick movie review
Cast: Salman Khan , Jacqueline Fernandes, Randeep Hooda, Nawazudin Siddiqui, Mithun Chakraborty Director : Sajid Nadiadwala IE Rating: **
What this lovely word means is ‘unbearable’, though it can’t come remotely close to the tedium that the original describes. Salman’s leading lady says it to him. About him. Yes, gasp, addressing the one and the only Sallu Bhai, who appears in his latest In and As avatar in ‘Kick’.
We duly crack a smile. Look, look, Bhai is sending himself up. He’s letting his heroine crack a good one at his expense. Because he knows that he is anything but. And that he’s just waiting for her to finish the scene and leave, to get into his `Dabangg’ mode, for the hall will burst into hoots and claps and whistles.
That’s what a viewing of ‘Kick’ comes down to. I found it more or less ‘jhelable’ when Salman is not taking himself seriously, blowing a cherry at us. When the film starts getting him close to his noble Being Human image, it becomes a yawn. Salman kickin’ it is fine, but tearin’ up? Nahiiiiiin.
The plot, as befits a Salman Khan spectacle, is completely and delightfully cuckoo. Devi Lal Singh (Salman Khan) is a guy who wanders about searching for kicks. His father (Mithun Chakraborty) eggs him on in his pursuit. Devi runs into the sexy Shaina ( Jacqueline Fernandez ), but before anything can happen , he’s off and away. It’s time for Devi’s alter-ego, Devil, to show up, and be chased by a cop ( Hooda), and a crook (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) here and there and everywhere.
Never mind these niceties. We know that a Salman film is created solely to display his popular quirks and his one-liners and his ‘andaaz’, all of which are designed to send his fans into a swoon. Simple. When the story dares to fling such complex phrases as ‘retrograde amnesia’ and ‘conservative management’ at us, we fling them right back as we wait for Salman to slam it.
What makes ‘Kick’ interesting, apart from some unfettered Salman moments, is Siddiqui in full flow. His villainy is very Bollywood, with a trademark evil laugh, but self-aware and vivid at the same time : there are scenes he steals from everyone, including, sacrilege, from the Khan, even though the latter gets to throw away one of the most famous lines in movie history, with a wink : you talking to me?
Everything else is as it should be. Fernandez is made to play a psychiatrist just so Bhai can call her Psycho. Ha ha. We know she is a doctor because she wears thick framed-spectacles, which she chucks to a side to execute a perfect eye-popping shimmy shake. Hooda is watchable, as he almost always is, but he needed better scenes. The rest of the cast just does its job—of bringing up the rear.
Because the front end is dominated by Salman the Khan. Devi or Devil, same difference.

Congress president Kharge has requested a meeting with PM Modi to discuss their manifesto after he accused the party of wanting to distribute wealth to "infiltrators" and those with more children. Kharge called Modi's remarks "hate speech" and clarified that the manifesto does not target any religious group. He believes the PM's comments are a diversion tactic.

Kick-Ass Reviews
Given the safe, PG-13-rated tenor of most superhero movies today, something offbeat (and R-rated) like Kick-Ass comes as a shock, albeit a welcome one.

Everything is clever, with irreverent impertinence… devilishly fun. [Full review in Spanish]

Kick-Ass entertainingly and effectively subverts the superhero genre, while providing a hilarious comic book reality check. [Full review in Spanish]

For now let's just sit back and enjoy a film that comes along all too rarely, a film that will reignite your love of celluloid.

Find one review that doesn't say that Hit Girl steals the show. She gets the best scenes, and actually complicates the plot... So, I guess you don't have to pass on Kick-Ass.

Kick-Ass actually qualifies as a character-driven movie and not a film dominated by its special effects.

[A] tedious, crudely plotted, soulless action film.
Full Review | Jan 23, 2020
In the end this a great start to the big movie season and a fine first salvo of this year's comic property based movies line up.

Not only is it a tale of revenge, but it also sets up its masked vigilantes for more adventures like any good comic book story should.

For those of you curious and off kilter enough to give it a try, you will see beauty and warmth and optimism in it, mixed with a truth rarely shown at the multiplex these days.
Full Review | Original Score: 4.5/5 | Jul 24, 2019
It's a blast-a smart, refreshing, subversive spin on the super-hero genre.
Full Review | Jul 24, 2019
Isn't always pretty, but it's a brazen, irreverent and wildly entertaining experience that distills the clichés and standards of the genre and turns them on their heads.
Full Review | Original Score: 3/4 | Jun 7, 2019
Fortunately, this is a film that isn't afraid to cross the line with its material, but does so in such a clever manner that it makes Kick-Ass one of the spring's more entertaining cinematic experiences.

... just another kind of superhero fantasy, but with more blood and expletives along the way.
Full Review | Nov 11, 2018
A hilarious, hip twist on the superhero genre. Gone are the superpowers, the 100 inch chests and holier than thou attitude.

Kick-Ass asks what would happen if superheroes really DID operate in the real world, and the results are shocking, intriguing and entertaining all at once.

"Kick-Ass 2" is one of the year's worst films. I would like to get that pertinent fact out of the way before we discuss it properly. But for those with horrid taste in cinema, questionable politics, and terribly short attention spans, i.e. the target audience of this movie, I feel it is my duty to say: Don't see this film. Do something else. Enjoy the final days of the summer. Solve a crossword puzzle. Call grandma. Do whatever you like. But don't see this reprehensible movie.
Criticizing superhero films tends to put the reviewer slightly lower on the ladder of popularity than the bloke that shot Bambi's mother. These films have a tightly knit audience. If a critic takes a superhero movie seriously and chastises it for its shortcomings, fans pounce with the age-old mantra: "It's only a comic book film!" But if the critic dismisses a superhero movie, the fans shout: "There is real meaning to this work, and you are biased." As such, the critic can't win. Why is it possible to soberly dissect melodramas, thrillers, even comedies—is it because they rank as "high culture," and are therefore immune to petty, juvenile arguments? Or is it because superheroes have somehow become the embodiment of popular culture and consequently impossible to doubt, for fear the whole lot may crumble away?
I believe the latter to be the case. The superheroes present a very simple solution to the complexities of the modern world. The various shades of grey that line the surface of apparently "deeper" superhero films, such as Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy, are mere distractions from the utter ridiculousness of the core concept: a man in a costume fighting crime! As such, taking superhero fare seriously amplifies both its absurdity and fascist overtones. The word fascist is frequently misapplied, but it does fit with the superhero aesthetic, which is about one thing and one thing only: violence. Superheroes overpower their opponents with brute force, and as such are the most hideous display of power-worship.
Directed by Matthew Vaughn and based on the work of former enfant terrible of comics, Mark Millar , 2010's " Kick-Ass " was a transgressive take on the superhero concept, exploring a world where comic book nerds of various ages and intellects donned skin-tight costumes to fight mobsters. The film's philosophy and its approach towards justice was problematic, but Vaughn had a deftness of touch that propelled the story. Equally interesting was the pairing of Nicolas Cage and the then pre-teen Chloë Grace Moretz as Big Daddy and Hit-Girl, respectively. This father-daughter team of benevolent psychopaths was a highlight not necessarily because of the characters, but because of the obvious quirkiness of the actors and their chemistry. On the whole, though, "Kick-Ass" wasn't a very good movie.
What sinks "Kick-Ass 2" from the level of a merely terrible end-of-summer movie to the depths of utter junk is its wanton disregard of the very basic difference between right and wrong. Written and directed by Jeff Wadlow , the film kicks off a few years after the end of the previous film. The 17-year-old high-schooler Dave Lizewski ( Aaron Taylor-Johnson ) still midnights as the titular hero, all the while trying to convince the orphaned 15-year-old Mindy a.k.a. Hit-Girl to join him. When he is finally turned down, Dave joins with Colonel Stars and Stripes ( Jim Carrey )—an ex-mobster turned crime fighter, around whom a ragtag group of vigilantes has mobilized in an orgy of self-affirmation.
Meanwhile, Mindy joins a group of her own when she hangs up her purple Hit-Girl outfit, and starts to attend high-school: a triumvirate straight out of " Mean Girls ," who take her under their wing for "re-education."
A further subplot involves Chris D'Amico ( Christopher Mintz-Plasse ), former sidekick to Kick-Ass, who has gone into the family business after Dave murdered his mob-boss father in the previous film in a particularly spectacular manner. Chris refashions his mother's S&M gear into a costume, and reinvents himself as the world's first super-villain, adopting a name which, in the '80s, would have been dubbed on British television as "The Melon Farmer." These three plots plod along in a tale of vengeful one-upmanship to eventually converge in one of the least interesting action scenes of recent times.
At its most basic level, the film feigns concern towards how revenge can be a bottomless pit. Violence doesn't merely escalate in the film, it consumes all. The level of terror multiples geometrically, as one death begets two, and then four, etc. Millar's original comic is considered by halfwits as a post-structuralist work, but this sort of reading is only valid for armchair proponents of even the real-world history of violence being its own fiction. Of course, this is all rubbish. The uneven tone of the violence contributes to the confusion. During one memorable scene (for all the wrong reasons), a gigantic ex-KGB agent called Mother Russia dispatches ten police officers in increasingly violent ways as a sped-up, trance version of the Tetris theme plays. I am not sure what reaction Wadlow was going for, but I was sickened. This did not make me reassess my position towards vigilantism or violence, seeing as I am not a sociopath. I don't need a superhero film to tell me that kicking the living crap out of people is wrong.
So there is a pitch, an angle to all this, but frankly, it's hackneyed. Rejection of authority, ignoring the squares, being your own man, the idolization of the self: yes we've all become depressingly familiar with those tired old refrains. We can do anything we want; there is nothing holding us back; and we're just boring and irrelevant if we don't sign up. This is not the '90s, and it's definitely not ten years ago, either. We're in a post-crisis economy. The only people who would buy into "Kick-Ass 2"'s insipid afterthought of a philosophy occupy the same counter-cultural bubble as Wadlow and Millar, whose film expects blithely that no one could possibly disagree with these self-evidently correct beliefs. It's all rather insulting.
Also insulting is the film's view towards women and girls. I was not expecting the film to treat them as transcending their circumstances and being worshipped as life-giving earth mothers, but was it really necessary to have three girls vomiting and defecating simultaneously? Also, it would have been OK to have at least one female character that was not a complete buffoon or in need of validation through male acceptance. The film's misogynistic take on women reaches its apex in a rape scene that is played for laughs. Wadlow keeps the camera tight on the wannabe rapist's face at first, and stays on him as he masturbates furiously to try to get an erection. All the while, there is a woman in the corner, fearing the worst. But Wadlow refuses to cut to her: our attention is on the potential rapist. Wadlow's mastery of film grammar is generally questionable anyway, but someone should have had words with him about this scene. Possibly his mother.
Also icky is the sexualization of Chloë Grace Moretz, a trend that began in last year's " Dark Shadows " and continues here, where the hormonal vagaries of Mindy's body are brought to the screen in fairly graphic ways (I was surprised to discover that the boy-band who inspires her sexual awakening is in fact real). Grace has been good before, but here she seems to be mimicking emotions she was yet to experience, rather than acting. Considering how grating Christopher Mintz-Plasse's and how bland Aaron Taylor-Johnson's personae are, her subpar performance is particularly conspicuous.
By the end of "Kick-Ass 2," Dave is redeemed by the "perfect," virginally pure, specimen that is Mindy. This betrays a further fascist motif inherent in the narrative. Throughout the film, it is unclear quite what Dave is thinking when he stares at his perfect, Aryan sidekick. The eerie sexual prompting surrounding her takes on an additional political burden. By the end, Dave is defending Mindy, the racially pure, against the unwanted attentions of the outcast portion of society. And Mindy, like a cross between a Smurf and a Valkyrie, is wreaking vengeance herself. This is post-structural fascism, with the hint of the past fueling the engine of violence. But the two kiss at the end, so it's all good, I suppose.
"Kick-Ass 2" is a badly made film with a nonsensical plot, lackluster performances, confusing action, excessive violence, and deplorable morals. Avoid it at all costs. If you have a date this weekend, and they want to see it, avoid them, too. Forever.

Parents need to know that Dolphin Kick is a live-action adventure about siblings Skyler (Tyler Jade Nixon) and Luke (Axle McCoy), who befriend a solo dolphin named Echo and try to reunite him with a pod. There are suspenseful moments in which both Echo and the kids are threatened by angry fishermen; the climax involves a physical fight between two men and a scene in which the villains attempt to kill Echo with a spear. The film is best suited for kids who are comfortable with real vs. pretend scares, as the scenes of Echo in danger may be disturbing for some. But the movie is filled with positive messages about family harmony and dealing with grief, as well as humans' responsibility to nature's creatures. You can also expect lots of relevant information about dolphins and their way of life. To stay in the loop on more movies like this, you can sign up for weekly Family Movie Night emails .

What's the story.
Skyler (Tyler Jade Nixon) and Luke (Axle McCoy) are still recovering from the death of their mom in DOLPHIN KICK. Their dad, Clint (Travis McCoy), who also misses his wife terribly, decides that a healing vacation may be just the thing for the family, especially for Luke, who was once a competitive swimmer but is now terrified of going into the water. A tropical island turns out to be everything the family hoped for and more. Especially when Luke strikes up an important friendship with Echo, a dolphin who's been separated from his pod. Guided by a group of marine biology students working on the island, the kids learn that although Echo seems delightfully happy, the playful animal must be reunited with a pod. Individual dolphins simply can't survive on their own. Complicating their efforts to return Echo to a pod is Naz (DeVaughn Gow), a stressed-out fisherman with anger issues who realizes that it's the dolphin who's been ruining his traps.
Is It Any Good?
Wonderful shots of a dolphin frolicking in tropical seas and making heartwarming connections with kids, as well as some nice family moments, are the reasons to see this sincere but unpolished film. Everyone involved gives it their best, and it appears to be a family affair with lots of overlap among the performers and production folks. The filmmaking team pays attention to family-friendly details -- reminding us to avoid littering, wear sunscreen, ensure boat safety. Plus, there's a genuine effort to impart solid information about the habitat and behavior of the planet's most intelligent sea mammal. So, though it may not be the most artful of movies -- with uneven performances and a script in which the "conflict" feels forced and often arbitrary -- Dolphin Kick should please folks who like a feel-good movie and love watching beautiful creatures fill the screen with their antics.

Kick Tamil Movie Review: Santhanam, a versatile actor, shines in his role, bringing his signature humor and impeccable timing to the screen.Tanya Hope matches his energy step by step, forming a convincing and engaging on-screen pair. Their chemistry adds an entertaining layer to the narrative, capturing the essence of the characters' rivalry.
The director make this film for his own time pass only, Not for audience. The old santhanam is no more with creative comedies and his comedy fit character. The movie have nothing story, script, logic, Screenplay, comedy, Love, etc. In this movie climax, Purely irritating and logic less ending makes by director.

Kick: Directed by Sajid Nadiadwala. With Saurabh Dhingra, Salman Khan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nawazuddin Siddiqui. An adrenaline junkie walks away from a whirlwind romance and embraces a new life as a thief, though he soon finds himself pursued by veteran police officer and engaged in a turf war with a local gangster.
Our review: Parents say ( 79 ): Kids say ( 227 ): Simply put, KICK-ASS is a lot of fun, but it's packed with edgy content. Since one of the main characters is a skilled, confident 11-year-old girl, watching her curse and kill can be quite disturbing. She's strong, but often cruel and ruthless.
Vaughn did a cracking good caper film with a pre-007 Daniel Craig called "Layer Cake" six years ago, but Kick-Ass has little of that film's heady panache and instead batters you about the face and neck with wildly over-the-top fountains of gore, bone-cracking slow-motion, and, yes, Cage, who dials his acting down a few notches from the kicky Herzogian mindf---ery of "Bad Lieutenant: Port of ...
