ok fuck it we analysing:

this prolly goes out of the actual suite life canon because neither of us remember the show v well but o well

part one: zack

zack is not a real person. rather, he is a projection of cody’s insecurities and what he perceives to be his flaws. zack is all of cody’s academic failings personified, but also his emotions. zack is practically all of cody’s right side of the brain.

when zack ruins cody’s visit to the facility, or when he drops cody’s letter to debby ryan into the sea, it represents how cody believes his emotions are sabotaging him. he doesn’t even feel connected to these feelings, as we can see when he takes…

The Suite Life Movie – review

' src=

The Suite Life Movie was as I expected:  a bit of a silly Disney movie. Based on the TV show The Suite Life On Deck , it follows Cody and Zack on their final spring break before heading back to school for their final few weeks. Cody gets an internship that is ruined by Zack, who gets them in another internship that traps them. It is up to them to save themselves and everybody else who is trapped, as well. Cody and Zack have to get along for their own benefit and everybody else if they wish to break free.

I will say that I thought that the movie was going to be pointless and even silly to the point that no adult could enjoy it. But, like with many movies before this one, I was surprised at just how funny it was! Like when London thought that dolphins were camels, that was funny enough for everybody. Or when Zack & Cody fought, which almost anybody with a sibling can relate to. It was well written, even if it was slow to start out. I will say that I also feel that they added a lot of thought to it, which is a nice touch for something that the public just learned about late last summer or early fall.

I am impressed with how well the characters stayed true to the TV show; I thought that they might get lost in the shuffle. But they stayed strong and were not weakened by Disney. Cody was my favorite, but Zack and London both keep the laughs rolling in. The other characters were just okay; I don’t think they carried the movie like Cody, Zack and London did. Still, I think it was well rounded for a Disney movie. Even if it was a little thick in the plot in some areas.

Story was cute, but it is what you would expect from Disney. However, it was cute enough for even the adults to find humor in it. It was well written, acted, and directed, which is pretty good for a made for TV movie. However, I will say that it is clearly not the best movie ever made by any means. It was above what I expected, but I do think that they could have made it a stronger movie. With that being said, I can still say that I think most hard core The Suite Life On Deck fans will love it, and perhaps some who are not fans of the show would get a lot out of it.

Sets and camera angles were awkward at times. Filming on a boat likely did not help their cause. I think that the first few shots did not have a proper angle; it did not show Zack’s whole face when he was with his friend. I think that sort of lowered the movie a bit, but during the rest it appeared to work fine. I think it helped that most of it was filmed on land; that bad angle was corrected, but I was shocked that Disney did not edit that out. It does not reflect well on Disney at all.

For my age group recommendation, I will say that I do think it is safe for even young kids to watch . Of course, I would not expect anything less from Disney.

As for my final thoughts on the movie, I will say that I did enjoy it. But I also did not allow myself to have high hopes for it, so it did not disappoint me. It in fact gave me a surprise in how well it turned out. For my usual 1 to 10 rating (with 10 being the highest), I give it a 7. Not bad, but far from perfect by a long shot.

What are your feelings about it? Did you enjoy it, is the show better? Let us know in the comments, and tell us why you feel the way you do.

After making the perfect plans to spend spring break with Bailey, Cody ditches the plans and goes off to work as an intern at a prestigious research firm, because he wants to be able to obtain a scholarship to Yale. This leaves Bailey infuriated and refusing to speak to him because she does not know about his intention to attend Yale. Cody tries to write her a letter explaining everything, but Zack loses the letter and tries to help Cody tell Bailey in order to obtain Cody's car. At the internship, everything goes well until Zack follows Cody there. He still wants Cody's car. Cody is busy, and Zack sees a cute girl and he follows her. She asks him if he knows how to operate a submarine, and he says he can try. But after Zack runs a billion-dollar submarine into a seawall, making Cody do so, the equipment is lost and Cody is kicked out of the program, furiously vowing to never forgive Zack, saying that they are twins, but definitely not brothers.

Dr. Olsen (Matthew Glave) approaches the boys and tells them that they would be ideal for the Gemini Project, a massive project studying the effects of twins. Though it takes them much thought, they eventually decide to participate, and land themselves among dozens of other twins.

At first, the project seems normal. The first phase of the project is to eat a delicious fruit, which connects the boys physically. But before long, the two suddenly find themselves connected metaphysically in a way they never have been—the second phase is they are able to think each other's thoughts and feel each other's pain. As tension builds, the two find themselves not only emotionally conflicted, but end up in an actual fight as well.

But as their week on the Gemini Project campus goes on, they soon discover that all is not what it seems. They overhear Dr. Olsen telling Nellie that it is a shame that Cody must lose his brain. The boys sneak into his lab to discover what the project is truly about. It turns out that stage three is a merge, which makes the twins combine together to make one brain. After that, Dr. Olsen can control them. Zack and Cody are confronted by Dr. Olsen, so they decide to make a run for it. The only problem is Dr. Olsen can control all of the other twins and he orders them to get Zack and Cody.

Meanwhile, Bailey has mixed feelings about Cody. She tries to ignore him to cause him pain, but Cody never calls again once Bailey doesn't answer the first time (Only because Dr. Olsen confiscated Zack and Cody's cell phones.) She doesn't know that Cody is in grave danger. She tries to talk it out with Woody and London, but that does not work. She is totally confused until she discovers the letter that Cody wrote, and how he only went on the internship to obtain a scholarship to Yale. She now understands, and thinks he is the "sweetest fella on Earth". So London, Woody, and she head off to apologize to Cody.

When they get to Cody's original internship, they discover that Cody has been kicked out. Because she earlier ate the dolphin food, London can understand what the dolphins say and finds out that Zack and Cody are in the Gemini Project. Dr. Spaulding tells Bailey, Woody, and London that the twins may be in grave danger. Bailey calls Mr. Moseby as she goes with London, Woody and Dr. Spaulding to save Zack and Cody.

Dr. Olsen captures Cody and Zack using his twins, and they are pinned to chairs in order to complete stage three. But Bailey, London, Woody, and Dr. Spaulding rush in to stop Olsen. Olsen puts an electric wall up though, so no one can stop him. Dr. Spaulding tells Dr. Olsen to show everyone who he really is, and it is revealed that he is Dr. Spaulding's evil twin brother and the reason he wanted all twins to think alike is because he was jealous of his brother getting all the awards and being the brilliant one then He pushes the button and Cody and Zack begin to merge. Little does anyone know that the thing the twins do best actually saves them. The twins argue while they are merging and they destroy the machine. The twins are freed, along with the other mind-controlled twins, and they rush up to their friends. Cody and Bailey share a romantic kiss to celebrate. Dr. Olsen is still trying to merge the twins because he is extremely upset. Bailey captures him using her rope tying skills. Then, they give him the same fruit as he gave to Zack and Cody. They also give one to Dr. Spaulding and tell him to think good thoughts about his brother. This turns Olsen good again, and Mr. Moseby comes in with the police, taking Olsen away after he and Spaulding make plans for lunch once he gets out of prison.

Cody and Zack reflect on what happens when they work together, and it is decided that they make a very good team.

Back on the ship, Bailey tells Cody that she had the best spring break ever, and they accomplished everything on her list. Zack receives the car from Cody, and he parks it in a restricted parking zone. Suddenly, a large shipping container for London's summer wardrobe drops down and smashes the car to Zack's disgust. Moseby says that spring break is over, now he only has to wait until summer vacation.

Production [ ]

The movie was mostly filmed in Vancouver, Canada , but all of it was filmed in British Columbia locations. Locations such as the Vancouver Aquarium also played a major role in the production of the movie.

Home media [ ]

The movie was made available on iTunes starting April 5, 2011 and on Netflix to stream on April 24, 2011.

Reception [ ]

Sarah Peel of BSC Kids was positive about the film, saying the film was "typical" but said she was surprised at "just how funny it was". She later went on to say that it was a good film for younger children to watch. She gave the film a 7 out of 10. The movie premiered with 5.228 million viewers.

  • The movie takes place during spring break and is supposed to be set between "Prom Night" and "Graduation on Deck".
  • The themes that the movie was intended to convey are to "believe in yourself," "celebrate your family," and "follow your dreams."
  • Dr. Olsen's last name may be a reference to celebrity twin sisters Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen .
  • Although this takes place between "Prom Night" and "Graduation on Deck", Zack has a crush on Nellie despite dating Maya, likely as an extension of Zack's "player" personality or this could be a continuity error.
  • The Gemini Project is named after the Zodiac sign Gemini which represents twins.
  • When Woody touches the electromagnetic forcefield he gets shocked and his hair stands up. Moments later you can see that his hair was the way it was before he got shocked.

Positive Messages

There are lessons about topics like friendship and responsibility, but in general the show is intended to entertain and amuse rather than convey specific positive messages. Potty humor includes body odor and farting.

Positive Role Models

Adults are rarely present and are ineffective when they're around, so the teens pretty much do whatever they want without consequence. A main character often brags about her family's wealth and tries to control others with money. The central twins frequently get up to mischief, though most of it isn't meant in a mean-spirited way.

Violence & Scariness

Some pranks and pratfalls (a man leaps over the edge of a ship to get away from teens he dislikes, for example), but there's no mistaking that they're strictly for laughs.

Sex, Romance & Nudity

Teens have crushes on each other, but everything's pretty innocent, with just the occasional kiss or two. Zack in particular makes a fair number of comments regarding girls' attractiveness (i.e. "I'm going to study anatomy, starting with her"). Zack briefly shares a room with a girl, but nothing happens.

Parents need to know.

Parents need to know that, like its popular parent series The Suite Life of Zack and Cody , this show is filled with content that's bound to entertain tweens but might leave parents rolling their eyes. The largely unsupervised teen characters engage in lots of mischief, discipline is virtually nonexistent, and no problem arises that can't be solved by the time the credits roll. One of the twins is pretty flirty and makes mildly suggestive comments, while another main character constantly gloats over her family's wealth and uses money and expensive gifts to control her peers -- her manipulations are played for laughs, of course, but they're still grating. Tween fans may need to be reminded that little of what they're seeing is relatable to most people's reality.

What's the Story?

In THE SUITE LIFE ON DECK, twins Zack and Cody Martin (played by Dylan and Cole Sprouse , respectively) leave the luxurious confines of the Tipton Hotel for the equally swanky S.S. Tipton to set sail on a study-abroad program called Seven Seas High. Joined by spoiled heiress London Tipton ( Brenda Song ) and long-suffering hotel manager-turned-ship supervisor Mr. Moseby (Phill Lewis), Zack and Cody are primed for adventure -- and with new friends by their side, there's no shortage of fun or mischief to be had at sea.

Is It Any Good?

It's a no-brainer that this spin-off of the very popular Disney series The Suite Life of Zack and Cody will entertain fans left adrift when that show ended in September 2008. The trouble-making twins won't let a change of scenery interfere with their penchant for mischief, and new friends Woody (Matthew Timmons) and Bailey (Debby Ryan) happily sign on to follow the boys' often misguided leads.

It's just too bad that Disney didn't mix a few more positive lessons in with all of the fantasy-based fun. Zack and Cody are teens now, but they're still allowed to run amok (and encourage others to do so) without any real adult supervision. Spoiled London takes every opportunity to remind her peers of her fortune and often attempts to sway their actions with money, which sends some iffy messages about materialism and peer pressure. If your tweens do tune in, take the opportunity to do a reality check: Point out that little of what kids are seeing here would be accepted as responsible teen behavior and that in the real world, there are consequences for your actions that last beyond a 30-minute episode.

Talk to Your Kids About ...

Families can talk about how real life differs from Zack and Cody's world. How is their lifestyle like a fantasy? Do they ever seem affected by anything serious -- like money, illness, or family struggles?

Kids: Do you ever worry about those things? Is there any part of Zack and Cody's life that you can relate to?

Tweens: Do you think you'd enjoy living in another country? If so, where would you go?
