Well, the director definitely does try to be.

Imagine a pile of crap. But somewhere within this pile are a few gems worth collecting. But mostly it’s just crap. That’s a horrible metaphor, but you get the idea.

100 Days of Stalking* attempts to narrate the most overused plotline of Malayalam Cinema in the most original way possible. But although it does manage to accurately pinpoint a lot of the usual clichés and to even surprise the viewers at more occasions than one, this classic tale of boy-meets-girl does eventually conclude in a bland, predictable manner- providing nothing worth cherishing and managing to be just a watchable experience.

If you've ever been in love, or if you've gone through the pain of it, and most importantly, if you savour those sugarcoated romantic comedies churned out in Hollywood which follows a certain template while making sure it doesn't go overboard with its unavoidable cliches, then this is for you. There is nothing new in its plot or its characters as we've seen it all in a plethora of rom-coms where love-at-first-sight cliche is celebrated all over again. Wasted my time by watching this movie! My friends suggested me this film and said that it was so feelgood... Last night I watched this Malayalam DVD I had purchased awhile back. It has the same actors in the romantic pair as OK Kanmani. These actors are so versatile doing Tamil one year, and Malayalam the next!

So, it doesn't measure up to OK Kanmani. (Or Bangalore Days) This was a debut directorial feature. It had some gem moments, and Dulquer was trying his best to be his charming self, but he's playing a guy who really is lost and trying to find his way. Just the character wasn't as appealing as the one in Bangalore or OKK.

One review I saw on Letterboxd called it 100 Days of Stalking. I didn't think it was quite that bad.

100 Days of Love Review, What’s Behind: The romantic combination of Dulquer Salman and Nithya Menon shined brightly in ‘Ok Bangaram.’ Betting on the same combo, here comes ‘100 Days of Love’ dubbed from Malayalam to Telugu. Let us see, how good they drowned us in a romantic wave? 

100 Days of Love Story: Set in Bangalore backdrop, Rao Gopala Rao (Dulquer Salman) is working as Feature column writer for The Times aspires to become a political cartoonist inspired by Late RK Laxman. Very early, Rao Gopal Rao falls in love at first sight with Savithri (Nithya Menon) during a rainy evening. However, he misses her by whisker. Here begins Rao Gopala Rao’s search for Savithri with help of his friend Gummadi (Sekhar Menon). After an hour of hunt, they meet again only to re-collect childhood past wherein they belonged to same school. At a time when everything goes as per plan for Rao Gopal Rao to express his love, Savithri reveals a shocker that she is already engaged to Rahul (Rahul Madhav). How and when honesty in love triumphs is rest.

100 Days of Love Artists and Technicians: From story perspective, this is ages old and screenplay isn’t anything extra ordinary to keep us on toes. Still, what makes the film worthwhile is magnetic screen presence of lead artists. Writer, director Jenuse Mohammed showed a maturity in dealing the romantic track with utmost sincerity. Situations are quite familiar, contextual reactions from the love birds are nothing quirky yet Dulquer and Nithya’s chemistry excelled. Writing department appeared lethargic killing the narration pace. Jenuse Mohammed is calm and composed with good control over the proceedings. Pratheesh Varma’s camera work is an invaluable asset for the film. He made very frame a delight for our eyes. Govind Menon’s main musical score in songs is average while Bijibal’s background is an impressive work. Editing from Sandeep Kumar was too blunt and tedious. At any point of time, there is ample scope for the movie to have trimmed to near 2 hours. Production standards from Venkata Rathnam are brilliantly radiating.

About performances, Dulquer Salman is more like a boy-next-door and best at his originality. The way he eases into a contemporary youth character without missing a smile on face connects so well with class audience. He just sets the screen on sparks with an adorable look and portrayal. Nithya Menon is a show stealer. Place her in between hundred of artist groups, she comes out exceptional with right attitude and acting style. Chemistry between Dulquer and Nithya is the only USP which sells. Sekhar Menon’s voice dubbed by Krishnudu was a right choice. Rahul Madhav did his part well. Vineet, Praveena, Aju Varghese and others showed their presence. Rest may not need a big mention.

100 Days of Love Rating Analysis: Ok Bangaram worked great in multiplexes for the only factor of lead pair. Jenuse Mohammed tried to re-create a similar mood and shade for 100 Days of Love which unfortunately fails to attain those standards. Lack of depth in story, average screenplay and shallower treatment makes the precisely mundane. His presentation style is over dragged and very classy. Telugu audience may not accept the newfangled narrative when the main story is moving nowhere. The very backdrop of Bangalore, hero working as writer for newspaper with egoistic bosses and co-employees never brings in strong affinity with nativity. Those hilarious moments conceived and presented with non-identical flavor fails to reach the target audience. 

In fact, the take off is quite dull. Later on the search-on of hero for heroine and their meeting episodes are life-less. Small flashback paralleling with childhood scenes are not much fascinating. Dual role for Dulquer as brothers is a wasted experiment. First half ends on a dreary note due to overtly sober directional skills. 

Thanks Nithya for the second half. Her very presence on the screen to take the romantic proceedings forward in company of Dulquer brings in a new breeze. Moderate intelligence from director and cheerful artist performances blends a value. Towards pre climax though there’s nothing exuberant to project, movie ends on conventional note when hero and heroine win in love moving forward in life. Without few gracing portions in second half, this is a complete sunk.

100 Days of Love is romantically buoyant and light hearted at places, snail paced narration and pointlessly void episodes serve a major drawback in pulling the audience mouth talk. Except Dulquer and Nithya, there’s nothing to feel good about. So, Cinejosh finds it right to rate the film with 2.25 stars. Commercially, the overall result depends more on how urban and youth patrons react.

"Redeeming Love" is based on a best-selling novel by Francine Rivers , set during the California Gold Rush and inspired by the Biblical story of Hosea, a prophet, who married Gomer, an unfaithful woman. Publisher’s Weekly said about the book, “Writers like Rivers are why people buy Christian fiction,” and, as with the film, for some people that will be a recommendation and for others a warning. The novel has a lot of passionate fans who will want the movie to be exactly what they imagined on the page, and that is what they will find. It is sincerely made, with exceptionally attractive actors who give heartfelt performances in some beautiful settings, in a story that fits comfortably and reassuringly into a particular spiritual world view. For those who do not share that view or the storytelling traditions of giving oral testimony about horrific challenges leading to a connection to God, the film will not be as satisfying.

The title makes it clear that there will be no ambiguity about where it is going. First there will be sin and then there will be redemption through prayer. As Shakespeare said, though, the heroine in this story is “more sinned against than sinning.” She is called Angel (the angelically lovely Abigail Cowen ) and the man who will help her find redemption is Michael Hosea ( Tom Lewis ). I already pointed out the lack of ambiguity, but just to be even clearer, in the spirit of a movie that really spells everything out, it begins with a bunch of people panning for gold in the muck, one jubilantly finding a shining nugget. 

Angel is the most sought-after prostitute in the town, so prized that there is a daily lottery to be with her. We first see her gazing dully out of the window as behind her a man puts money on the table before he leaves. One of the other young women from the brothel tells her, “You’ve got to hope for something more in this world.” Angel says she gets by because “I never look back and never look forward.” That is not exactly true as there are a bunch of flashbacks as she does look back, giving us several flashbacks to see the horrific abuse she has suffered. 

Michael is a farmer who prays for a wife. He is led to Angel. He goes to the brothel and pays for her time but just talks to her. She is so traumatized that she is incapable of responding to kindness or even simple decency. He does not give up, though he wryly admits, “The next time I pray for a woman to share my life I’m going to be much more specific.” Finally, he gets her to marry him. Though she goes with him to the farm, she tells him she will only “play along until I pay you what I owe you.” He is so gentle and respectful that she begins to trust him, and so she leaves because she cannot be the woman she thinks he deserves. There will be more abuse and more healing before, well, see the title.

The relentlessness of the litany of tragic pain and loss inflicted on Angel, including incest, suicide, theft, abortion, child molestation, abandonment, sex trafficking, arson, and much more, may come across as unsettling to those not schooled in this specific form of Christian storytelling. Those from more fundamentalist traditions will be more at home with the “ Hell House ”-style fascination with (and amplification of) the sins of the world and the eternal damnation that is the consequence. Whether innate or learned, there are narrative beats familiar from most mainstream stories that make “Redeeming Love” uncomfortably unbalanced for audiences who are from other faith traditions or secular.

Cowan and Lewis make a very appealing couple, warm and natural even with the most heavy-handed dialogue. It's impossible not to root for them, and Lewis somehow makes Michael’s near-saintly patience and gallantry seem human. But the other characters are barely sketched-in props, the storyline is wildly melodramatic, and the movie is at best casual and at worst an endorsement of lynching (guilty) people accused of crimes. The biggest problem is that the most touching moments are hammered so hard. "Redeeming Love" could have tried to reach a broader audience but settles for preaching to the choir.

Balaan gets over the past and invites her to a new year eve dinner and returns the camera to her. She explains why this camera is so important to her and she is making a 25th anniversary surprise for her parents in which Balaan also helps. Balaan find out sheela is with a boyfriend named Rahul and she get engaged with Rahul. Eventually Balaan convinced her(Sheela) that she believes in love and to choose him over Rahul. Sheela falls in love with Balan at the end and gets married with him. To cash in on the hit combination of Nithya Menen and Dulquer Salman, the makers of Malayalam film 100 Days of Love have dubbed their project in Telugu with the same title and have released it today. Let’s see how this film turns out to be.

The story of the film is about a writer called Rao Gopal Rao(Dulquer Salman) who spots the gorgeous Savitri(Nithya Menen) in a taxi and falls head over heels for her. He starts searching for her and after a lot of difficulties manages to find her.

Right, when the time he decides to confront her about his love, Gopal comes to know that Savitri is his old schoolmate whom he hated all his life. Rest of the story is as to how Gopal changes his mind and manages to win Savitri who is already engaged on the other hand.

Plus Points:-

The one and only selling point of the film is the lead pair. The entire film is set on these two stars and whatever sparks we see are thanks to their stunning performances. Dulquer Salman is lovable in his role and holds the film till the end. It is because of his screen presence that the film looks bearable.

Though Nithya has very less to do in the first half, she covers things well during the second part. The second half has some breezy and romantic moments which can go well with the youngsters. The last fifteen minutes of the film are a bit interesting.

Minus Points:-

The entire first half goes for a toss. The proceedings are so slow that you can easily fall asleep. The director uses the entire first half just to search the heroine. Even the situations used and scenes narrated are quite dull and lethargic.

Heroine’s character has not been clearly justified. The way she accepts for her wedding and changes her mind during the end, all these facets should have been shown convincingly.

The story of the film is ages old and has absolutely nothing new to offer. Things get so predictable after a point that you can easily understand what is going to happen next. Dulquer’s double role looks stupid and lacks any justification at all.

Technical Aspects :-

Production values are just average as the film looks quite dull. Music is bad and so is the background score. Dubbing is very good and so are Telugu dialogues written. Editing is horrible as many scenes during the first half could have been easily edited.

Coming to the director Januse Mohammad, he has done a very ordinary job. He has just taken the lead pair and played around their stardom. He had an interesting premise but wastes too much time establishing the story. Had he introduced the heroine a little earlier and made things breezy, things could have been a lot better.

100 Days of Love is a film which is dubbed into Telugu to just cash in on the huge craze of Nithya Menen and Dulquer. The lead pair’s chemistry is the biggest and only highlight of the film. But the lethargic first half and predictable nature of the script makes this movie an below average fare and can be watched only if you have absolutely nothing else to do.

Bob Marley: One Love 's streaming release date has been announced after the movie's runaway box office success. Released in theaters on February 14, the musical biopic is based on the life and career of the legendary reggae singer and songwriter, chronicling his rise to fame in the mid-1970s up until his untimely death in 1981 at the age of 36. Directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green, Kingsley Ben-Adir leads the Bob Marley: One Love cast alongside Lashana Lynch as his wife Rita Marley, James Norton, Tosin Cole, Sevana, and Michael Gandolfini.

Now, months after its runaway box office success, the Bob Marley: One Love streaming release date has been announced. According to Deadline , the movie will stream on Paramount+ and MGM+ starting on April 12 . It has already been available to rent or purchase on digital platforms since March 19, and will also be released on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on May 28 .
