IELTS essay about the advantages and disadvantages of computer games

IELTS essay

Some people think that computer games are bad for children, while others believe that they are useful. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of computer games and give your own opinion.

Sample response

Computer games are addictive. That is the main reason children play them for hours on end. There are several disadvantages to spending a lot of time in front of the computer.

Computer games merely provide entertainment. Children who are addicted to computer games tend to have poor grades because they do not get enough time to focus on their studies. Also, they have reduced social skills. They are constantly glued to their screens and show hardly any interest in interacting with their family members or peers. This can lead to social isolation and serious behavioural problems.

Some popular computer games glorify violence and crime. Children who grow up playing these games may get into anti-social activities. Even if they don’t become criminals in the future, they may still exhibit a disregard for values. Computer games also cause vision problems in children. Children are not supposed to stare at the computer screen for hours on end. If they do, they will develop serious eye strain which may also affect their studies.

On the bright side, computer games make children competitive. Games that require them to play against virtual or real opponents living in another part of the world improve their concentration and ability to take decisions quickly. These are definitely positive aspects but a child does not have to play computer games to develop these skills.

To conclude, after analysing the advantages and disadvantages of playing computer games it is not hard to see that the disadvantages outweigh the advantages. In my opinion, parents should restrict the amount of time their children spend in front of the computers. That said, there is no harm in playing a game or two every now and then, but addiction is definitely a problem.

Computer Games Essay

This page analyzes a  computer games essay  and also notes how you can make good use of the question to plan and organize your essay.

You have to be careful with this essay as although you have to discuss the pros and cons of the issue, there is a second part to the question that is not about this.

Take a look at the IELTS task 2 question:

Nowadays many people have access to computers on a wide basis and a large number of children play computer games.

What are the positive and negative impacts of playing computer games and what can be done to minimize the bad effects?

The Topic and the Task

Remember to always analyze the question carefully. The topic should be fairly clear:

  • Computer games

Remember to also look carefully to see if the topic is being narrowed down to a particular aspect of the topic. In this case it is:

Children Computer Games Essay

Now you need to check what the task is. How many things do you have to write about?

Hopefully you realized there are three things that you can easily turn into brainstorming questions:

  • What are the positive impacts of computer games on children?
  • What are the negative impacts of computer games on children?
  • How can the negative impacts be minimized?

Your answers to these questions will form your computer games essay.

You do not have much time and you have three things to answer, so one or two ideas for each is enough, as remember you will need to explain your ideas and give examples.

Now, take a look at the model answer.

Computer Games Essay Question:

You should spend about 40 minutes on this task.

Write about the following topic:

Nowadays many people have access to computers on a wide basis and a large number of children play computer games.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own experience or knowledge.

Write at least 250 words.

Computer Games Essay Model Answer:

Access to computers has increased significantly over recent decades, and the number of children playing games on computers has increased too. This essay will consider the positive and negative impacts of this and discuss ways to avoid the potential negative effects.

With regards to the positive effects, playing computer games can develop children’s cognitive skills. Many popular games require abstract and high level thinking skills in order to win, skills that may not be taught at school. For example, children need to follow instructions, solve complex problems and use logic in many of the games that are currently popular. Such experience will be beneficial to a child’s progression into an adult.

However, concerns have been raised about the prolific use of computer games by children, much of this related to the violence they contain. The problem is that in many of the games children are rewarded for being more violent, and this violence is repeated again and again. For instance, many games involve children helping their character to kill, kick, stab and shoot. This may lead to increased aggressive feelings, thoughts, and behaviours.

In order to minimize these negative impacts, parents need to take certain steps. Firstly, some video games are rated according to their content, so parents must check this and ensure their children are not allowed to have access to games that are unsuitable. Parents can also set limits on the length of time games are played. Finally, parents should also take an active interest in the games their children are playing so they can find out how they feel about what they are observing.

To sum up, there are benefits of computer games, but there are disadvantages too. However, if parents take adequate precautions, the severity of these negative impacts can be avoided.

( 295 Words )

This computer games essay is well-organized and it directly answers the question, with each paragraph addressing one of the tasks.

  • What are the negative impacts of computer games on children ?

However, concerns have been raised about the prolific use of computer games by children, much of this related to the violence they contain.

  • How can the negative impacts be minimized ?

In order to minimize these negative impacts, parents need to take certain steps.

This is why analyzing the question is so important. This provides you with the basic building blocks with which to write your essay.

ELTEC English

Teaching ielts students., pte (ielts) essay: computer games – advantages and disadvantages..

Computers have become an integral part of our lives and our homes. This has given children an easy access to video games and a lot of them play games all the time.

Discuss advantages and disadvantages of playing video games and minimizing the bad effects.

PTE: 20 minutes; 200 to 300 words. IELTS: 40 minutes; 250 words at least.

Note of caution: IELTS people, don’t miss this essay merely because it’s a PTE topic. Such topics can appear in IELTS as well.

I’ve decided to give you guys a complete answer this time. Here we go.

Introduction:

The advent of computers has changed the way humans work, play and interact with each other. They dominate our personal and professional lives. Though computers have influenced learning style for children, they have also shaped their playing behavior through video games. This trend has numerous advantages and disadvantages associated with it. (51 words)

Body Paragraph 1: (Discuss advantages)

Research has proven that video games are not only a source of much-needed entertainment for children but also stimulate their brains for better learning. There are several games that educate kids on various topics such as geography, history, literature, and science. For instance, Hangaroo is a word game that stimulates children’s minds to create words in an interesting way. Similarly, Age of Empires educates children on various kingdoms of the past, their revenue system, and military technology.  (77 words)

Body Paragraph 2 & 3: (Discuss disadvantages)

However, disadvantages of video games cannot be overlooked. These are an engaging source of entertainment that involve little physical activity. Consequently, children often become lethargic and obese leading to various bodily ailments, particularly heart disease, diabetes, blood pressure and weak eyesight. Moreover, children are so hooked to these games that they sometimes refuse to complete their homework and do not take crucial home responsibilities. Thus, they not only lose interest in education, compromising their career eventually but also fail to support a family as adults.

Researchers have found that some games have an extremely negative psychological impact on tender minds of children. These games often involve scenes of sex, violence, theft, and blood that adversely transform a child’s mind. Games such as Grand Theft Auto fall into this category.  (129 words)

Body Paragraph 4:  (Minimising Bad Effects and Conclusion )

The negative impacts of video games can be minimized and their positive influence can be optimized by proper parental guidance. Parents, above all, should restrict a child’s access to computer games. They should not only select appropriate games, which contain no violence, for their kids but also limit the duration of which they play these games. Game developers should also take responsibility for progeny by making games that positively shape kids’ behavior while entertaining them. (75 words)

Total Words = 332. I’ve written more than necessary so that the reader can choose certain ideas while neglecting others.

Good Luck writing the essay!

Video Games’ Advantages and Disadvantages

Introduction, video games, advantages and disadvantages of video games, works cited.

Although at the look of it the term ‘video game’ appears to be quite simple, it has been used differently over the years and between different places. In most cases however, the term is used to refer to one-player computer-based games in which situations and opponents are not real but computer-controlled. But advances in imaging technologies, adapting of game titles to computer hardware and porting have revolutionalized the term video game to refer to a wide range of games, whose definition gets even more complicated as new computer hardware and software continue to be developed. Computer-based technology has led to tremendous growth of the video industry in such a way that video games can now be played through practically any computer device that has a screen. The video game has evolved to become the most popular form of entertainment especially with the younger members of modern society; but also bringing along various advantages and disadvantages which both positively and negatively impact on the lives of the young viewers (Wolf 3-4; Berger 12).

Modern video games were first invented by Ralph Baer who developed games that could be displayed on the television screen. Ralph Baer is famed for the creation of the first home-game system known as the Magnavox Odyssey and which went on screen in 1972. Over the years, various types of video games have been developed for different venues each type with its own technologies, market sector, capabilities as well assimilation into the cultural production surrounding each of them. Different types include mainframe games, home video game systems, home computer games, coin-operated video games and the very modern handheld portable games. Coin-operated video games were the first type of video games to have a public exhibition followed by the TV screen based home video games. With the invention and popularity of the home computer in the 1980s, home computer games came into being and have progressively evolved with newer technologies to give rise to the networked online games available today (Wolf 3-21; Berger 12; Vorderer & Bryant 1-2).

Psychological research has proved that certain video games can be beneficial to the users, improving gamers’ skillfulness as well as abilities at problem solving. Such attributes have been very helpful to professionals and to students at all levels of learning. A study carried out on a group of surgeons found out that video games help to develop hand skillfulness as well as improve coordination while carrying out certain tasks. Video games especially assist young children in paying attention to details such as sequencing, memorizing and use of strategies. Young children are also given the opportunity to use imagination and eye-hand coordination is greatly improved. Video games are about rules and regulations and can help the player to be very good in sticking to rules and regulations even in real life situations. They also inspire youngsters in game design work. The computer has been designed to process the user’s input, display the action on the screen, as well as respond with certain reactions at instant speed. Because most video games are computer controlled, many of them have been designed in such a way that very fast action and reflexes are required. Video games have also been designed to include utility and educational programs such that gameplay is included in the learning process. This has been done with the intention of making learning more interesting and enjoyable (Schmitt, Video Games; Anonymous, Playing Video Games Offers Learning across Lifespan; Egenfeldt-Nielsen, Smith & Tosca 35, 40).

When chosen wisely, video games can be a source of pleasure to the player, helping him or her to relax by distracting the mind from dwelling too much upon problems or difficult situations encountered in the course of daily living. Gee describes this type of pleasure by stating that, “Video games can give human beings on whom their magic works a drug-free high.” Complex video games engage the mind in such a way that the player discovers that the simple things of life can have a great wealth of complexity, different problems, possibilities as well as different solutions. Some of the games help to reveal to the player, the complexity and risks of living in this modern world and that life is not about simple rules. Complexity creates sharpness and the desire to have control, order and workable solutions. By creating images, the player is drawn towards reality (Gee 15-17; Berger 12-13; Egenfeldt-Nielsen, Smith & Tosca 32-33).

Video games can help the player to interact within a wider social realm. Through games, players are enabled to reach places that they would otherwise not be able to reach in real life. This takes place through development of online relationships with others in different parts of the world who together form the gaming community. Exposing young people to good video games exposes them to learning processes that are richer and much deeper than those they receive in school. Learners are also able to have a clear reflection of the various professions represented by the virtual characters in the games for example politician, builder, surgeon, disc jockey, policeman, zookeeper, fireman and the list is endless. Role-playing in video games can also help a young person to develop identity by identifying with their favorite character in the virtual world (Gee 111-114).

To the people who play video games, these types of games can be quite entertaining. Unlike films or television, the content in video games can be modified by the player and may also change as play progresses. In video games, the computer takes the identity of a player making competition in the game possible and raising emotions just as if it were two human beings competing against one another. According to Berger, “The fact that there is competition in games and that one can never tell how a particular game will turn out, gives them a dramatic aspect that players find intriguing and stimulating.” This helps to create a sense of control in the player and also exposes the player to certain level of interaction, competition and challenge. Young children especially, love to be in control while adolescents and young adults get excited about competition and challenge. Depending on the content, video games are capable of adjusting the player’s mood as the game progresses by arousing varied emotions such as curiosity, surprise and suspense among others. Such variation of emotions brings out a sense of entertainment. But arousal can be dangerous if the content of a video game is violent because many young people for example, tend to identify with the role of the heroic attacker in the game. The heroic attacker can be deceiving because he has portrayed as the problem solver in a chaotic situation. When playing a game, every player is motivated by the desire for a positive outcome and for those with low self-esteem; a negative outcome can result in a really bad mood. Positive outcomes on the other hand bring out pleasure (Berger 12-13; Vorderer & Bryant 1-2, 172, 187-188).

Too much of anything can however be dangerous. Majority of children love video games so much that it has to take the intervention of the father or mother to get the child to stop watching. Although certain research has proved that video games are capable of improving eye-coordination in children, improving skills in problem solving as well as the ability of a child’s mind to process information faster, too much of the game can sometimes become a health hazard. Too much playing of video games takes over active pastimes, subsequently reducing physical activity. A child who is always playing video games will have little or no time to engage in active exercise and play and this can lead to overweight problems. Reduced physical fitness can lead to health problems such as heart disease later in life (Anonymous, Are Video Games Bad for me).

Violence has been part of human society throughout history and has today become quite common in homes, in the community, country and the world at large. According to Dowed, Singer & Wilson, “The language and images of violence have taken over what one thinks as our most reasoned, cautious levels of discussion and debate.” Although video games cannot solely be blamed for all the violence that exists in society, they have, to a great extent, exposed young people to more violence. Research on the effects of video games on society has found out that the type of video games that viewers engage in too much can have tremendous effects on their personality or character. Watching too many violent games can for example lead to hostility, un-forgiveness and the tendency to accept violence as a normal way of life. The heroic attacker portrayed in video games can be very influential to the player. Video games that are pro-social can on the other hand help the player to develop better interactive skills. Students who get involved in a lot of pro-social video games will for example be involved in fewer fights with their peers and also tend to be more helpful to others. Video games can be very violent and although it is still not very clear how such violent and disturbing games can affect the human brain, what children spend too much time engaged in can greatly influence their development. Their brains are still young and what impacts on them should be carefully assessed. Research has also shown that a remote relationship exists between violent video games and aggressive behavior. The more young people practice violence in video games, the more likely they get to perform acts of violence or even attribute such hostile intentions to their peers. Such negative stereotypes as racism and sexism can also develop from watching violent video games and as Vorderer and Bryant suggest, “Women are often presented in games as ultra sexual with unrealistic body images and scantily clad” (Anonymous, American Psychological Association; Vorderer & Bryant 73, 172; Anonymous, Are Video games bad for me; Dowed, Singer & Wilson 144-146).

Video games are very involving and can interfere with interpersonal activity in the player. A child or even adult who is spending too much time on video games has little or no time to socialize and form friendships; an aspect that is very essential for personal development. This activity also reduces essential social interactions especially with family and friends. Although playing video games on the internet opens up the player to a wider and more varied social group, this kind of interaction is remotely controlled and cannot compare with interaction in real life situations. For any family or community to coexist harmoniously, there must be a certain degree of interaction that should take place so that all members are able to develop essential social skills. Too much video game affects the development of other essential skills in a child and negatively affects the child’s academic performance. Schmitt explains this development by stating that, “If video games are allowed to dominate a child’s leisure and study time, they can lead to decreased development of skills in music, art and sports. School performance can also be affected if the child neglects reading and homework” (Schmitt, Video Games).

Video games have several dimensions such as the content of the game, amount of time spent playing, what attracts the player’s attention and the ability of the player to control his or her emotions. Based on such assessment, video games cannot be good or bad but rather, have many unexpected effects and can also be very good and powerful educational tools. Video games played together with others can improve the player’s abilities to socialize, solve problems as well as improve his or her reasoning capacity. Because the internet has become an easy market for unfavorable video games, nothing can substitute the fact that parents must get familiar with the type of video games that their children love playing and get personally satisfied that such games are safe and suitable. Parents should also make their children’s video game playing a public scene and such activity should be in the living room rather than in the confinement of the bedroom. This is because ratings on most video games do not fully reveal the real story and the parent should e able to participate in this activity for the sake of their children’s development (Anonymous, Playing Video Games Offers Learning across Lifespan).

Model answer.

In today’s world where we all have access to the internet, more and more children are playing computer games and their popularity is increasing all the time. This essay will look at the positive aspects these games can have and also the negative effects on children.

Firstly, as education is becoming more demanding for many young people, computer games can provide a way of relaxing and reducing stress. Computer games can take us into different worlds where we can escape from reality. In addition to this, computer games today are very advanced and can help children develop their thinking skills. Instructions need to be understood and games often include complicated problems which need to be solved.

However, there are also many problems with the increasing popularity of computer games. Many children become addicted to them and they play for hours, sometimes through the night. In South Korea, the government has banned children from playing games after midnight as the problem was so great and the effect on education was very negative. Furthermore, some children find it difficult to identify what is real and what is virtual. Some people argue that this has led to a rise in crime inspired by video games. This is not proven, but it is undeniable that games today can be very violent.

To sum up, there are both advantages and disadvantages with computer games and it seems that parents need to exercise caution and monitor their children’s activity as some games may be more suitable than others.

Advantages and Disadvantages IELTS Essay Questions and Sample Answers

Sample Question 1

More and more students are choosing to study at colleges and universities in a foreign country. Do the benefits of studying abroad outweigh the drawbacks?

Given below is a brief outline of what to write in the essay after identifying the essay type.

Advantages and Disadvantages Essay

  • Paraphrase the topic of the essay
  • Mention the contents of the subsequent paragraphs

Body Paragraph 1

  • Foreign education has various advantages like better educational facilities, gaining valuable experience and international exposure. Studying abroad also opens up several high paying employment opportunities.

Body Paragraph 2

  • Travelling abroad for educational purposes also has some disadvantages like increased tuition fees and living expenses. Other disadvantages include learning to live in a foreign society and prolonged periods of time away from home.
  • Summarize the essay and mention the final view on the topic.

Sample Answer

Foreign education has become one of the most sought-after ventures in this day and age. A majority of students plan on pursuing higher education in a foreign nation, especially when it comes to a master’s degree. One of the reasons why studying abroad has become such a popular phenomenon is the relaxation of travel laws and procedures across the world. However, there are pros and cons to studying abroad and the following paragraphs, will explore the topic and elaborate on why the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.

One of the primary reasons for studying abroad is the presence of a more refined and sophisticated education system in several first-world countries. It is common for students from underdeveloped or developing countries like Brazil, China, India, Argentina and other countries to look for better opportunities than the ones available in their native country in terms of academics. Also, residing in a foreign country helps individuals to gain international exposure and also helps them develop social and interpersonal skills, which are extremely important for being eligible for lucrative job opportunities..

Nevertheless, there are numerous drawbacks to travelling abroad for education. First of all, from the beginning of applying to a foreign university to staying in the host country for the entire duration of your degree, it is an exorbitant affair. Such a costly endeavour is often unaffordable for the household of many people. That being said, becoming accustomed to the norms and conventions of an unfamiliar country can be a tough ordeal for many due to differences in culture and social traditions.

Finally, I would like to conclude by saying that foreign education can be a blessing if it is financially feasible for aspiring students. That being said, the benefits of studying abroad surpass the drawbacks for the same.

Sample Question 2

What are the advantages and disadvantages of globalization? Do the benefits outweigh the drawbacks?

  • Paraphrase the essay topic using synonyms for the words used in the question.
  • Mention the contents of the following paragraphs.
  • Globalisation has led to a lot of positive changes, especially in underdeveloped and developing countries. There has been an increase in employment opportunities, products and services are easily available to people around the world.
  • Globalisation also has various disadvantages like the exploitation of cheap labour from developing countries and also the decline in quality of products and services.
  • Summarize the topic and state the final view.

Globalisation has been one of the most significant phenomena in the last few decades, and it has changed several aspects of human society both economically and socially. There has been remarkable progress in terms of economic and financial development for developing countries due to the expansion of global organizations. However, there are several drawbacks to this rapid progress that need to be addressed. Evidently, globalization has more advantages than disadvantages and the following paragraphs, will elaborate on the topic and justify these views.

First of all, the most advantageous aspect of globalization is the advent of numerous international companies and franchises in developing countries. Ever since global brands and corporations have expanded their operations in countries such as India, China, Sri Lanka and many more, there has been a notable increase in employment in these countries. Additionally, due to the remarkable rise in the number of imports and exports, people from third world countries now have access to a vast catalogue of products and services that were previously unattainable.

That being said, there are drawbacks to globalization that create concerning issues for a sizeable portion of the global population. One of the most disturbing consequences faced is the exploitation of labour. Many corporations are known to outsource their operations to developing countries due to cheap labour costs. This enables them to accomplish their manufacturing operations without having to provide proper remuneration. Also, due to the use of inexpensive labour, the quality of products is diminished, and customers receive inferior products.

In conclusion, there is no doubt that the effects of globalization are not entirely positive or negative. Nonetheless, the benefits brought by this occupation outweigh the drawbacks.

Nowdays, technologies are in high demand. People are possessed with their own computers and cell phones, so it is quite easy for them to do their job at home. Even though it is acknowledged with several points that working from home is quite easier, the essay will argue that the drawbacks of working from home will outweigh its strength. The main disadvantages are ineffective communication and the relationship amongst people becoming distant. First of all, people need internet to communicate. The internet connectivity is very poor at times, especially in the remote areas. Furthermore, during virtual meetings, discussion gets difficult due to connection issues where meeting is not worthwhile since no voice or no video. Moreover, working from home gives distance amongst people where you will not be able to have interact with colleague. Face-to-face discussion is very important where you get to work more effectively and efficiently. On the other hand, working from home is indeed benefit. People do not have to travel to reach work. The time which are spend on travelling, can be utilized on other activities such as house cores, leisure activities or even can work extra hours to meet the given deadline. Furthermore, people get flexibility in working hours, since there are no superior workers supervising employee. To conclude, there are some strengths on working from home but drawbacks overweigh strengths since working from home is not as easy task as people think since ineffective communication and people interaction is very important.

Nowadays, studying abroad is a new trend among students. Undoubtedly, there are positive and negative aspects of studying in a foreign country. However, the benefits of attending colleges and universities in a foreign country outweigh the drawbacks. The next couple of paragraphs will explain the topic and justify these viewpoints.

To begin with, studying abroad has several advantages for students. For instance, a student who is studying in a foreign country will probably improve language skills better than others. Learning a foreign language is extremely significant in a global environment. Moreover, living outside of a home country will enhance students’ worldview thanks to the culture of the host country. Therefore, it can be said that studying abroad paws the way for great career options.

However, there are undesired sides to education in a foreign state. One of them is education expenditure. Studying abroad might be expensive. Thus, it might lead to a huge economic burden for both student and his family. When a student moves to another country for education, he must face several challenges caused by living alone. For instance, some students might have some psychological problems during the first couple of weeks following their move. It can be claimed that being homesick is a common problem among young students.

In conclusion, having a graduate degree from a foreign country has both negative and positive sides. Although there are significant advantages, the benefits of studying abroad surpass the drawbacks for the same.

Parents tend to give the children better resources as compared to their own childhood. This way they also feel compensated in the process while bringing up their own child. While having a huge collection of toys to play with is not all that bad, at the same time can lead to some issues.

Firstly, having a diversity in the range of toys have multiple benefits. The child can learn how to manage or organize better. Varied exposure to different themes of toys makes one more aware.

Secondly, sharing can also develop social skills among the child’s friend circle. To get hands-on-experience with toys such as Rubix’s cube, puzzles hone mental capacity of the kid. Similarly, educational and infotainment toys help shape likes and dislikes, opinions, communication skills. Thus, caters to holistic development which is often a cause of worry for parents.

On the other hand, if the child is given more and more, this may result in losing the value of individual toy. Not only is this expenditure wasteful but also teaching consumerist tendencies to the child. Perhaps unconsciously the child stops valuing his toys and takes them for granted in desire for more.

To have enough needs to be inculcated rather than frivolous costs being incurred. The parents need to be also mindful of teaching holistic habits like outdoor games, reading, painting apart from playing with toys for all round development.

Having many toys is also burdensome when it comes to maintenance. If that could be sorted then it’s much easier to assemble and play as per the child’s convenience. Gifting once in a while is a good option to keep the spirits of the child happy.

One of the most popular games that are played in most of the countries is mission game. The players are required to rescue a person from a jail without seen anyone. So, the one who is controlling the game has to think and plan every move from the first step up to the last step, until he wins or loses the game. Due to that sight problem, they can't see from a distance which may affect their personal activities such; studies. On the other hand, sitting on a chair for a long time with-out exercising brings obesity or overweight. Most game players don't exercise; instead they eat junk food, which is not good for our health. The combination of eating junk food and not exercising can easily result obesity in a short period of time. There was a time when we had to do calculations and solve problems manually. Nowadays, a computer can do the same in a fraction of a second. Computers have now become a necessity in our lives. From learning about new things to making new friends, from students doing their school projects to multinational companies storing their employee data, these days everything is done on computers. Using computers has made work easier and faster.

However, computers do have some disadvantages. As computers are doing all the work, the need for human employees has reduced which has added to the problem of unemployment. Online hacking, fraud and cyber crimes have also increased. But if we take a few measures to keep ourselves safe, computers are indeed great!

Today, as the world is modernising, computers have become a necessity in our lives. Computers can process instructions and solve problems in just a fraction of a second. They can store a huge amount of data and thus, help banks, hospitals, government organisations as well as other companies to store all their data digitally which makes work a lot easier.

Computers also allow us to access the internet and connect with the world. Because of computers, we can now watch movies at home, order groceries, book cabs, buses, trains and flights, and send and receive money online. We can learn new things, make new friends and talk to different people using the internet.

However, computers do have some disadvantages. Because computers are so fast and versatile, the need for human employees has reduced which has led to the loss of jobs and added to the problem of unemployment. Online hacking, fraud and stealing of personal information have also become common as so much of our information is stored online.

A lot of people have also gotten addicted to playing games or binge-watching movies and shows on their computers. This is harmful to their health and can lead to physical issues in the long run. That’s why we must use computers in a way that is good for us and doesn’t cause us any harm.

Today, computers have become an important part of our lives. This machine has made many complicated tasks a lot easier and faster for people and organisations like banks, hospitals, post offices, government organisations as well as small and large companies.

Computers allow us to access the internet and connect with the world. Because of computers, we can now watch movies and dramas from all over the world while sitting at home. We can order groceries, and book cabs, buses, trains and flights online. We can also send and receive money via online banking without ever having to set foot in a bank.

Computers have also helped people learn new things which wouldn’t have been possible in an era when computers didn’t exist. One no longer needs to go to the library and search for books. Now, one can simply borrow a book from any online library as well as buy online copies of those books at a much cheaper price.

This has reduced the need for physical books and copies which in turn has reduced the need for paper production. Computers have also helped us connect with people from different parts of the world and make friends with them. It has helped us learn about different countries, cultures, and people and has helped us become more understanding and welcoming.

Computers have a lot of advantages but they do come with a few disadvantages as well. Because computers are so fast and versatile, the need for human employees has reduced which has led to the loss of jobs and added to the problem of unemployment. This problem is only going to escalate in the future as more and more advancements are made in the field of computer technology.

Online hacking, fraud and stealing of personal information have also become common as so much of our information is stored online. One wrong click and we can lose a lot of our hard-earned money. What’s worse is that such hackers and scammers target old and illiterate people who are not very familiar with the technology. Many youngsters today spend a lot of their time playing computer games or binge-watching shows full of negativity online. This affects their physical and mental health in the long run.

Nowadays, computers have become a necessity in our lives and we cannot deny that. And as is the case with everything else, computers do have their own advantages and disadvantages. We must be mindful and use computers in a way that is good for us and doesn’t cause us any harm.

I have adopted a simplistic approach to writing essays on the topic for a better understanding of all kinds of students. If you still have any doubts regarding this context, kindly let me know through the comment section below. Keep browsing our website for more such sessions.
