Seats Available for Admission Basis JNUEE 2022

JNUEE 2022: The application process for Jawaharlal Nehru University Entrance Exam (JNUEE) 2022 has already begun. The last date to apply for the same is 18th June 2022 . All the candidates who wish to get admission into UG or PG courses at JNU can apply for JNUEE 2022 by visiting the official website. Every year, more than 1 lakh candidates apply for JNUEE which certainly makes it imperative for applicants to have knowledge of the number of seats available for the programme.

JNUEE 2022 is an admission test for all the candidates seeking admission to JNU ’s undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes. Before applying for any of the programmes whose admission shall be done through JNUEE, candidates must know the total number of seats available for the respective programmes.

*Important Note: In case of candidates applying under JRF and GATE categories, same criteria will be followed. However, in these cases selection will be done on the basis of 100% viva-voce score. The candidates not appearing in the viva voce (wherever prescribed) are not eligible for being considered for admission to that programme of study for which they do not appear in the viva voce.

Some of the important instructions for JNUEE 2022 seat intake are listed below:

The intake for each programme of study are approved by the Academic Council on the recommendations of the Centres/Schools concerned.
The intake of foreign nationals both under in-absentia category and those who are admitted through entrance- examination is also over and above the intake capacity of each Centre/School of study (except for Ph.D. programme). Such supernumerary seats are normally 15% of the intake capacity.
The intake for admission of foreign students for Ph.D. programme may be considered in compliance with UGC 2016 Regulations regarding number of research scholars faculty (i.e. Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor) can supervise.
Foreign students shall be offered seats only if seats are left vacant in any discipline after being offered to Indian candidate who have appeared in the Entrance Examination.

Students, teachers decry 'lack of clarity' in admission process for PhD programmes in JNU

The prospectus for PhD admission to the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has sparked a row, with students and teachers decrying the "lack of clarity" around the process and the "decline" in the number of seats.

Students have claimed that the total number of PhD seats across centres in JNU will decline by 32 per cent from the academic year 2022-23 and many centres plan to fill all the seats with students selected for Junior Research Fellow (JRF), as stated in a report by PTI .

Moreover, teachers and students at the university have raised concerns over the lack of clarity with regards to the starting of the admission process. There was no immediate response from the administration, as per PTI .

JNU PhD admissions JNU recently released the PhD prospectus for the academic session 2022-23, according to which admissions will be based on merit. The candidates seeking admission into PhD programmes have to appear in the Computer Based Test (CBT).

The prospectus however mentioned that there are other criteria for students to clear before being shortlisted for the next step. "It is to be noted that merely qualifying in the CBT does not entitle the candidates to be shortlisted for viva-voce examination. Shortlisting of the candidates to be called for viva-voce shall be done as per the following criteria," the prospectus mentioned, as per PTI. The detailed list of conditions to be met are available on the official website jnuee.jnu.ac.in .

The JRF-qualified candidates will be exempted from CBT. They are required to apply separately under the JRF category. Such candidates shall be shortlisted and called directly for viva-voce, as per PTI.

What are their demands? While a section of students are saying that the university should retake the responsibility of conducting the entrance examination from the National Testing Agency (NTA), another section is demanding that the NTA should continue conducting the entrance exams for PhD admission.

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) submitted a memorandum to Vice-Chancellor Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit on Saturday, September 3 and said that the PhD admission prospectus, which was released last week "due to our unrelenting struggle", has many discrepancies.

"A 32-per cent decrease in PhD seats, zero PhD seats in many centres, 100 per cent seats via the JRF category in many centres like the Centre for the Study of Law and Governance, increased percentage of JRF seats for PhD admission," read the memorandum.

Meanwhile, the JNU Students' Union (JNUSU) also staged a demonstration on Tuesday, September 6, demanding that the restoration of academic autonomy of universities and the responsibility of conducting examinations be given back to the JNU.

The JNU Teachers' Association (JNUTA) has also alleged that admissions to the university's prestigious PhD programmes are being administered with appalling shabbiness, as per PTI. "The fate of a JNU-specific JNU Entrance Examination (JNUEE), which the NTA has been conducting for the past three years, is as yet officially unknown, but it is a fact that despite the e-prospectus having been released on August 24, the NTA is yet to generate a weblink to initiate the process of inviting applications for the PhD JNUEE," the JNUTA said.

Additionally, the teachers claimed that the e-prospectus was released without the approval of the Academic Council, which is the statutory body that has the sole responsibility for all matters pertaining to admissions to the university.

The JNUTA demanded that the university authorities immediately inform the schools and centres, the boards of studies, and the Academic Council of the status of PhD admissions for the academic year 2022-23.

Meanwhile, the ABVP has demanded that the JNU administration should rationalise the number of seats for PhD admission through the JRF category and bring it down to par with the percentage of the National Eligibility Test (NET) and JRF-qualified candidates.

"Ask the NTA to conduct the JNUEE as soon as possible so that the academic calendar is not disturbed anymore," the students' body said, as per PTI .

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the schedule for the Jawaharlal Nehru University Entrance Examination (JNUEE 2022). The schedule can be accessed at the official website nta.ac.in.

As per the notice issues, the NTA will conduct the JNUEE 2022 on December 7, 8, 9, and 10 for admission to Ph.D. Programme offered at JNU for the academic year 2022-23. The three-hour test will only be offered in English and will be computer-based and in the MCQ format. There will be two sessions for the exam: one from 9.30 AM to 12.30 PM and the other from 2.30 PM to 5.30 PM.

Candidates who desire to appear in JNUEE 2022 may read the detailed Information Bulletin hosted on jnuexams.nta.ac.in and the Prospectus available at University website jnu.ac.in carefully for eligibility, scheme/duration/timings/medium/fee of examination, syllabus, intake, reservation of seats, exam cities, important dates, admission procedure etc. before applying.

NTA JNUEE 2022: Steps to Apply?

Step 1. Visit the official website jnuexams.nta.ac.in

Step 2. On the homepage, click on the online application link

Step 3. Register using your personal details to generate Application Number and password

Step 4. Log in, fill the application form

Step 5. Upload documents and pay the applicable fee

Step 6. Submit the form and take a printout for future reference.

Online applications can be submitted till November 20 (5.00 PM) at jnuexams.nta.ac.in. There is no maximum age limit for the candidates appearing for Ph.D. programme.

Meanwhile, for th UG admissions, JNU used CUET score this year. Earlier, it used to be via JNUEE as well. Three cut-off lists have been out so far for UG admisins.
