Located on the quiet street of Jalan Ceylon sits one of the most understated Malay restaurant in Kuala Lumpur, Bijan Bar & Restaurant Fine Malay Cuisine. The restaurant served traditional Malay cuisine, but unlike many, with a touch of finesse. Bijan seeks to deliver an experience that is not very common, refined Malay dining. The dishes can be served in traditional sharing style, or if you opt for a journey of culture, the degustation menu. Their dishes range from the refined sup tulang sum sum , a modern take on the bone marrow soup to the use of the uncommon sam bal hitam Pahang , a sambal made from belimbing buluh , a type of starfruit.

As you enter the restaurant, you are greeted with traditional Malay wooden furniture, with motives carved into the wooden structures. The restaurant has an outer foyer, which can be used for cocktail receptions. The restaurant itself hosts quite a number of tables, for intimate dinners, business engagements and family feasts. The bar offers a decent selection of wine and cocktails, which upon request, can be paired with the degustation menu. The outdoor dining area is enclosed with bamboo and offers much elegance. The indoor dining area can be sectioned for private catering events, and the mood lighting brings the room together.

Bijan Owners Yuen Sze To, Lissa Yeoh and Way Cheng Yeoh | Bijan Restaurant | Bijan Bar | Food For Thought

Bijan is owned by The Good Food Trio, Yuen Sze To, Lissa Yeoh and Way Cheng Yeoh, and aims to deliver a marrying of the modern with the traditional. The dishes are unmistakably Malay, although is elevated in the use of fine and high quality ingredients. Yeoh herself has been hands on in creating the dessert menu, including some of their iconic signatures like the pandan pudding (screwpine pudding), chocolate durian cake and coconut ice cream. When asked about the philosophy of Bijan, the trio replied: –

“Bijan’s philosophy and main focus has and always is about producing authentic and flavourful Malay cuisine. We firmly believe that using better quality ingredients help elevate the entire dish. A prime example would be Bijan’s Masak Lemak Udang Tempoyak where fermented durian is used to make the sauce, giving it its unique taste. To make this dish, Bijan uses D24 durians specifically for its creamy texture yet bittersweet flavour, and then undergo a shorten fermentation period (compared to the original recipe) so that the final product is less pungent hence suitable for all to try and consume.

Bijan’s chefs are also very innovative in terms of the cooking methods they use to produce stunning results. Bijan’s Rendang Itik is an illustration of this innovation where the duck meat is cooked slowly in its own fat, also known as confit that is widely used in French cuisine. The chefs believed that through this method the flavours of the duck meat is further enhanced. The duck is then deep-fried to add crispiness to the dish and finally top it off with a typical rendang sauce to compliment the duck. Chef Shawal and his team are constantly challenging themselves to create new dishes that excites customers for more. The latest creation is Rusuk Panggang where beef ribs are used instead of meat. It is uncommon for Malaysians especially Malays to eat roasted beef ribs as it is not a favoured part of the cow (as it contains lesser meat), but Bijan soaks and marinates the beef ribs in its secret sauce and roast it till it is almost black yet the meat is still juicy and tender. It is then easily peeled off the bone that has gotten regular customers repeating their orders whenever they return.

In short, Bijan places itself as an education platform for those who are not familiar with authentic Malay cuisine. At the same time, Bijan is the forefront of recreating almost-forgotten recipes handed down by generations and are always curious to look for ways to better improve its dishes through using various cooking methods. “—  Yuen Sze To, Lissa Yeoh and Way Cheng Yeoh , Owners of Bijan Bar & Restaurant.

Chef Syawal | Bijan Restaurant | Bijan Bar | Food For Thought

The kitchen is helmed by Sous Chef Shawal Basri, who has years of experience running the kitchen at The Datai Langkawi. Chef Basri hails from Kedah and brings his heritage onto the plates he prepares. Some of his latest creations include the rusuk panggang (chargrilled beef ribs) and rendang itik (duck rendang). The rendang is a traditional beef dish of Minangkabau settlers in Malaysia origin from Indonesia, and is one of the region’s most icon dishes. What Bijan delivers, however, is these dishes of humble origins but with high quality ingredients, such as using beef ribs for the rendang as they have a more tender bite. When asked what his favourite ingredients to use are and what his favourite dish on the menu was, he said: –

“I like using Gula Melaka (palm sugar) as it’s a versatile ingredient that can be added into any dish, be it savoury or sweet, and it’s healthier than regular sugar. Most important is that gives off a subtle flavour that is not overpoweringly sweet that most regular sugar contains. I also like using Pandan leaves and extract into his desserts as it gives off a lovely fragrance that most Malaysians are familiar with. When it comes to dishes, I recommend the Masak Lemak Ikan Kurau dengan Pisang Kapas which are Threadfin fillets cooked in lightly spiced coconut milk with young banana; the Pucuk Paku Goreng Tahi Minyak, wild fern stir-fried with chili, caramelised coconut and shrimp; Aneka Pembuka Selera, a selection of bijan’s starters: cucur udang, popiah goreng, daging bungkus kukus and pegedil; and the Opor Rusuk, Australian beef ribs slow-cooked in a thick gravy of aromatic spices, toasted coconut, palm sugar and coconut milk.” — Shawal Basri , Sous Chef of Bijan Bar & Restaurant.

Inside Dining | Bijan Restaurant | Bijan Bar | Food For Thought

The À la Carte Menu consists of a variation of Malay regional cuisines such as the Rendang Tok from Perak, Sambal Hitam from Pahang and Ayam Masak Kuzi from Kelantan. The menu is quite varied, with most dishes that you do not find commonly in Malay restaurants as they are heritage dishes and are more commonly cooked at home. For the dining couple, there is a 4 Course Menu to choose from, and for those seeking the full experience, there’s the Dégustation Menu, consisting of 9 courses.

Ulam Ulaman | Malay Salad | Bijan Restaurant | Bijan Bar | Food For Thought

The first dish, an appetiser platter, was the Ulam Ulaman (Malay Style Salad) , consisting of a salad of leaves made from Daun Tenggek Burung (euodia leaves), Ulam Raja and Daun Gajus (cashew leaves) served with Sambal Bacang (Mango sambal), Sambal Kulit Limau (lime rind sambal), Sambal Hitam (black sambal), Sambal Hijau (green chilli sambal), Sambal Belacan (shrimp paste sambal) and assorted fried crackers including keropok (prawn crackers) and empingan (belinjo crackers) . This salad was served beautifully in a crown of leaves, with a side of 5 types sambal (chilli sauce). The sambals had a great variety of flavours, from sweet to sour to mildly bitter. Although all the sambals were great, it was the sambal hitam , a starfruit sambal which was sweet, sour and spicy kick which stood above the rest. This appetiser is highly recommended.

Sup Tulang Sum Sum | Ox Marrow Soup | Bijan Restaurant | Bijan Bar | Food For Thought

The second dish, a soup, was the Sup Tulang Sum Sum (Bone Marrow Soup) , consisting of a clear broth of cattle bone marrow with mixed spices. The soup consisted of a large cattle bone with marrow in-tact, and decorated with an assortment of leaves, flower petals, croutons and spices. This soup was a great modern interpretation of the humble sup tulang (beef soup), a beef broth soup with aromatics and spices as its base. The soup is eaten with the scooping of all the ingredients off the a saw cut bone, and mixed into the soup for a crunchy, drenched and savoury consommé.

Rusuk Panggang | Chargrilled Ribs | Bijan Restaurant | Bijan Bar | Food For Thought

The fourth dish, a meat course, was the Rusuk Panggang (Chargrilled Beef Ribs) , consisting of chargrilled marinated short ribs served with pegedil , sweet soy sauce and  sambal belacan . The ribs were perfectly chargrilled, with strands of meat so tender it comes apart with a tug of the fork, while the outer part crisps to a perfect crunch. The meat is so well flavoured that each bite leaves you wanting more. Pegedil or begedil is a type of Javanese potato and meat croquette made with spices, and is eaten with the sweet soy sauce, giving it a nice intense sweet-savoury touch. This is definitely one of the better rendang dishes you will find, anywhere.

BIjan Ikan Siakap Sos Asam | Siakap in Assam Sauce | Bijan Restaurant | Bijan Bar | Food For Thought

The fifth dish, a fish course, was the Ikan Siakap Sos Asam (Siakap In Tamarind Sauce) , consisting of deep fried sea bass with a peanut and tamarind sauce, served with raw four-angled bean, red onion and chilli. The fish was prepared in the traditional Malay style known as the ‘dancing fish’, where the whole fish is cut at an angle and deep fried. This is what gives the fish its iconic shape. The tamarind sauce was quite mild, but did not take away from the preparation of the fish. The side of four angle bean, red onion and chilli mixed well and added a nice sharp tang and heat to the fish.

Ayam Masak Kuzi | Bijan Restaurant | Bijan Bar | Food For Thought

The sixth dish, a chicken course, was the Ayam Masak Kuzi (Kuzi Style Chicken) , consisting of chicken pieces with spices, fresh tomatoes, almonds and raisins simmered in coconut milk gravy. This dish is typical of Kelantanese cuisine, which tends to lean towards the sweeter and rich. The chicken was tender and well marinated, with a nice peanutty flavour and not overtly spicy. This dish is reminiscent of Arab and Indian cuisine, quite similar to a chicken korma.

Masak Lemak Udang Dan Nanas | Prawns and Pineapple | Bijan Restaurant | Bijan Bar | Food For Thought

The seventh dish, a seafood course, was the Masak Lemak Udang Dengan Nenas (Prawns And Pineapple In A Rich Turmeric Gravy) , consisting of prawns and pineapple chunks cooked in lightly spiced coconut milk. The prawns used were traditionally tiger prawns, which is cooked shell on to prevent the flesh from becoming rubbery and for the shells to impart more flavour. The pineapple added a nice sweet and tangy flavour to the dish.

Pucuk Paku Tahi Minyak | Bijan Restaurant | Bijan Bar | Food For Thought

The eight dish, a vegetable course, was the Pucuk Paku Goreng Tahi Minyak (Wild Fern With Burnt Desiccated Coconut) , consisting of wild fern stir-fried with chili, caramelized coconut and shrimp. The Malay term ‘ tahi minyak ’ refers to the leftover from the deep frying of desiccated coconut, leaving a burnt but full of umami flavoured ingredient which only a spoonful is drizzled over the dish. The fern itself was young, nimble and curly, and because of its age, crispy and not woody. This very simple dish is packed with flavour from the caramelised coconut, and a touch of sweetness and texture from the springy prawns. A definite must try.

Dessert Platter | Pandan Puding | Chocolate Durian Cake | Coconut Ice Cream | Bijan Restaurant | Bijan Bar | Food For Thought

The ninth dish, a trio of dessert, was the Dessert Platter consisting of the Puding Pandan (Screwpine Pudding) , Chocolate Durian Cake and Ais Krim Kelapa (Coconut Ice Cream).

The first dessert, the Puding Pandan was made from cream pudding infused with pandan leaves and palm sugar syrup. The pudding was akin to a panna cotta, and was fragrant from the pandan leaves and complemented well with the molasses rich palm sugar. This dessert tastes so good you wish there was more of it.

The second dessert, the Chocolate Durian Cake was made with D24 durian flesh, sandwiched between a moist chocolate cake and coated in chocolate ganache. At first sight, you wouldn’t think that this could work, but it strangely does. As durian is an acquired taste, consider before ordering, although if you were a durian and chocolate fan, this would be a dream.

The third dessert, the Ais Krim Kelapa , is a home made coconut ice cream, with subtle flavour and pronounced sweetness. The best part is the oreo cookie used as its base to hold it, giving a nice chocolate crumble texture.

Fan favourites like Laksa Kedah , keropok lekor (fish sausage) from Terengganu, solok lada (stuffed chilli peppers) and gulai daging umbut (beef and palm shoots in turmeric curry) from Kelantan and asam pedas daging tetel (cheap cut beef tamarind curry) from Johor. The ramadan buffet is priced at RM110++.

The Bijan Bar & Restaurant Experience

There are many Malay restaurants in Kuala Lumpur, but few and far between will be like Bijan. This restaurants gives you all the trimmings of a traditional Malay dinner, but in an elevated setting. The restaurant is true to its roots by keeping to old as time recipes, but with a twist of high quality ingredients. The best thing about Bijan is that is caters to every function and palate, be in if you’re looking for a course by course style, or family style where the main dishes are served all at once with rice, as can be seen from Bijan’s Menu . When it comes to service, the Owner’s hold by this belief: –

“For us, service is not just about the table services but it encompasses the whole dining experience from quality to taste to presentation of food and finally the table service from ground staffs to customers. And thanks to internet, Malaysians are learning more about the dining scenes in Malaysia and through each dining experience they become more sophisticated hence they have higher expectations in both taste and service provided. Which is why service is highly prioritised in Bijan because it determines whether customers had a great time in Bijan, and if they do, there is a higher chance of revisits as well as introducing Bijan to their friends and family through positive word of mouth. In Bijan, we hope that customers are able to taste various refined authentic Malay cuisine in a comfortable setting that most Malay restaurant do not provide. It’s also a great entry level for those who are not familiar with Malay cuisine.”

For a refined Malay cuisine experience, we highly recommend this as a place to for those not familiar with the range that authentic almost forgotten Malay recipes Bijan has to offer. Bijan is also unique as it offers wine pairing with Malay cuisine all within the limits within the heart of the Kuala Lumpur city centre.

The sup tulang look so good! But can’t imagine how expensive.

Hi Azman, Well, its considered fine malay cuisine, so it’s a little bit pricier, but you do get extremely high quality food, so its worth it. 🙂

I absolutely LOVE sambal hitam! Maybe will try over ramadan. Puasa starting soon…….

Hi Hairi, Yes! The Selera Warisan Negeri menu looks pretty good. its only RM110++ so its quite nice to break fast with.

Ayam masak kuzi! Don’t see that outside Kelantan. Gomo kelate!

Hi Idayu, Oghe Kelate?

These dishes look so interesting. So like Thai food. Me want eat!

Hi Ronald, It’s quite similar to southern Thai food as its muslim cuisine in general. I would say its still very distinctive. It’s like how Lanna cuisine is as different from Isan cuisine.

Khun Nic! The food look like south Thai food. Like gaeng curry.

Thanks Khun Saipin, It’s quite similar in terms of profile, but still very different. And yes, curry is similar to gaeng phet.

How much is the ramadan buffet?

Hi Kenneth, Its RM110++ per head. 🙂

What an interesting review. Well written and quite an interesting cuisine. I’ve not had much Malay cuisine, other than satay of course. 🙂

Hi Gemma, Thanks for reading. Malay cuisine is very broad and I think you might like it if you had the chance to try more. Start with rendang. 😉

Beautifully written review Nicholas. The bone marrow soup looks like an interesting find. I can imagine the broth to be quite wholesome.

Hi Richard, The bone marrow soup was stunning. Perfect east meet west amalgamation.

The rusuk panggang looks absolutely perfect. I would definitely take my family here for a meal the next time I’m back in Malaysia. We don’t get anywhere as close to this in Aussie.

Hi Lucas, The rusuk panggang was definitely one of the highlights. I wish I had more of it right now. 🙁

I have never had Malaysian food in HK except 檳城炒粿條. The beef ribs look delicious!

Hi Flora, Yes, Malay food is part of Malaysian food. Malay food comes from the Malay people. 檳城炒粿條 is more of a Malaysian Chinese (馬來西亞華僑) dish.

I can’t wait for Ramadhan! All the good food coming up nextttttt!!!! 😀 😀

Waaaaah. The food all look so good lah! 😀

Nice review Nick! I love it when you do malay food. Always a great insight. I always have trouble with the translations. 🙁

Hi Kavita, Thanks! I love it when I do Malay food too. 🙂

So that’s what masak lemak is called in English! Great post Nic.

Hi Patricia, Yep! Or an approximate. Some of these terms don’t have an exact translation, so its best giving a description. 🙂

Nice article. Usually quite hard for the English words like masak lemak, masak hitam, etc… I guess Ulam raja is ulam raja right? 😛

Hi Khairul, Tell me about it! There’s so much good food but less accessibility to non-Malay speakers. Even many non-Malay Malaysians have trouble with these names.

The sambal hitam sounds so interesting. I’ve never even heard of such a dish.

The food here sounds so appetising. I think it’s great that 3 women own this restaurant. What a great notion of that unity.

How much is a meal there cost?

WOW! All the food is look good!

restaurant review essay malaysia

Vera is a Senior Content Writer at a Singaporean lifestyle publication, ConfirmGood where she covers stories on all things food, lifestyle, and perspectives.

Throughout my career as a content writer at various lifestyle publications in Singapore , many a time have I been tasked to write a review for a restaurant .

A review of a restaurant is incredibly important to the business. Given that 94% of diners refer to reviews before making a decision to eat somewhere, the power reviews have to sway the consumer’s decision is immense.

Having been in this profession for a while now, I can safely say that I’ve seen my fair share of good and bad examples of restaurant reviews. And boy, do I have something to say!

But before I go into the details, let’s start with the basics. How should you structure your restaurant review article?

Restaurant review format

1) lay the table.

Just as how you’d set up the table in preparation for every meal, you need to set up your article in preparation for your readers’ eyes.

Provide some background information about the restaurant, its owner(s), and what it specializes in. Check out the opening paragraph of our Carne Burgers Singapore Review :

The introduction of a restaurant review of carne burgers singapore.

The reader is immediately hit with some key facts that establishes the restaurant as a reputable business. If a sustainability-focused restaurant run by a Michelin star chef doesn’t entice you, I don’t know what does.

A well-written introduction is essential as a hook to capture your reader’s attention right from the being and keep them engaged til the end of your review.

2) Start serving your mains

Now that you’ve invited your readers to the table, it’s time to show them what the restaurant has to offer.

A majority of the body of your restaurant review should showcase the best dishes the establishment has to offer. Check out what we showcased in our Seoul Garden a la carte menu review .

We featured the best dishes in our seoul garden restaurant review.

As a buffet restaurant, Seoul Garden has a wide selection of cooked and uncooked food items on its menu. But we only featured the most popular and best-looking items. And these are the Wagyu Picanha and Salmon slices.

You should always feature the best items that the owner wants to feature and take good pictures of them ot feature in your restaurant review. The first impression always counts 👀

Some things that should be in in this part of your review include what the dishes are, why you ordered them, and what makes them great. Describe the sight , smell , flavours , and texture of the dishes you’re reviewing. You’ll be surprised by how effective these descriptive paragraphs can be in selling the restaurant.

Example of how you describe food in a restaurant review.

Quick tip 💡 Prepare an arsenal of words you can use to describe food so you can easily pull them out to use in your article.

3) Wrapping things up

End off by summarizing why you enjoyed (or did not enjoy) the food. I’d strongly recommend adding some quirky final thoughts to leave your readers with a cute aftertaste.

You can look at what I wrote for my review on Restaurant Salt.

Tips on writing great restaurant reviews

1) learn from the best restaurant review sites.

As with learning any new skill, look at what others have already done.

A great source of restaurant reviews are lifestyle publications. They are generally divided into different sections like travel, finance, and food. ConfirmGood’s food blog showcases some of the best places to it in Singapore.

Check out the various articles we’ve put out to learn how to write great restaurant reviews. Learn the vocabulary, structure, and writing style.

2) Look at Tripadvisor and Google restaurant reviews

This one may come as a surprise to some of you. Why would you want to refer to reviews left behind by random people? After all, these aren’t professional food writers . What’s there to learn from?

If you take a look at the list of reviews you see on such sites, you’ll notice that some of these reviews are exceptionally well written. You can pick up pretty useful vocabulary from them. I guess some people really take writing reviews on Google really seriously 🤣

A tripadvisor restaurant review example.

Another reason why you should look at restaurant reviews is because you get to learn about what is important to a customer. Perhaps being led to the table properly is important to some. To others, it’s really just the quality of the food. See what pops up most often and take note of it.

If a restaurant hires you to write a review about them, you should include these factors in your article when promoting the business.

3) Take the best photos

A photo of carne burger used in our restaurant review article.

Taking great pictures of the food you are reviewing is absolutely necessary. Words alone cannot do the job of convincing your readers to eat at a particular restaurant.

Humans are visual creatures and well-taken shots of the restaurants’ best dishes can help sway your readers’ decision.

4) STOP USING “DELICIOUS”, “GREAT”, “GOOD”

Expand your food vocabulary.

If you want to write great restaurant reviews, you can’t describe that flaky pastry that oozes creamy custard fulling as delicious.

You aren’t doing the melt-in-your-mouth tender steak any justice by calling it amazing.

So just stop ❌

Again, refer to the article I listed above for some good examples of words and phrases you can use to describe food.

5) Include the restaurant’s story

A restaurant is more than its menu.

It’s also about its history, its owners’ histories, culture, and even purpose.

Establishing the restaurant’s story in the introduction of your review can help pique your readers’ interest in the place.

6) Pay attention to cultural nuances

To add to my previous point, you should always be mindful when writing about food.

Do not refer to dishes as ‘ethnic’, ‘exotic’, or worse, ‘oriental’.

Food carries with them the long history of struggle and achievements of the culture which they are from. You need to be respectful of that.

7) It’s ok to not like the food

You don’t have to lie when writing restaurant reviews.

This may even cause the restaurant to receive harsher negative reviews as they were overhyped by your article. So don’t be afraid to be honest about how you find their food. Just don’t trash them unnecessarily.

You’re all set to start writing an awesome restaurant review !

Those are my top 7 restaurant review writing tips. I hope you’ve found them useful. Becoming a food writer is not going to be easy. But this article is a great start for you!

Great mains, pity about the chips

Came for lunch with my sister. We loved our Thai-style mains which were amazing with lots of flavour, very impressive for a vegetarian restaurant.

But the service was below average and the chips were too terrible to finish.

When we arrived at 1.40, we had to wait 20 minutes while they got our table ready. OK, so we didn't have a reservation, but the restaurant was only half full. There was no reason to make us wait at all.

We ordered the chips as a side dish and they looked delicious. But, when we tasted them, they were overcooked and swimming in oil so we left most of them. We expected a lot more for $10!

When the waiter asked if everything was ok, we said we really didn't like the chips and he said 'That's funny, I love them' and that was it. He didn't offer us anything else or take them off our bill. Also, when we didn't leave a tip, he looked annoyed.

I was really excited about visiting Vega, and the mains were just fantastic, but the rest of the experience was really disappointing.

  • Use an informal or semi-formal style.
  • In the title, give the main idea or opinion.
  • Write about the important parts of the experience, not every detail.
  • Organise your ideas into paragraphs.
  • Write about the good and the bad.

Delicious food, shame about service.

Me and my family came for dinner. We loved our  Butterfly Burger mains, which were so amazing and tasted so good!

However, the service was quite slow and not the best experience.

We had to wait for the table for around thirty minutes after we got there.

The price was too expensive, costing a whooping £11.50 for just the burger, and that doesn’t include any drinks.

I would recommend if you like delicious food, I would give it 4 stars.

I loved the mains, but the side order was oily. Me and my sister, we had to wait for at least 30 minutes, we knew that we don't have a reservation, but there were just 5 costumers. The service was good, but the side order was swimming in oil.

Recently we visited an spanish restaurant where in theory offered a good meat dishes.

I asked for a ribeye medium rare, but they brought the meat rare.  I ate the meat thinking that at the end the flavour would be great but it didn't.

I have one situation, when I went to the cafe and I order cheese cakes, but when waiteress put me my dish I saw that the plate has finger marks and I asked that she take me new one, replace meal. After I had new dish and I was very satisfade myself that not agree for less.

I had a bad experience with one cafe. I came with my sister and we ordered coffee, green tea and some desserts. Staff was not friendly and looked to us annoyed. When drinks arrived my sister try a green tea and it was so bad. It taste like a cheapest green tea in the world in my opinion. But price was too expensive for one cup of regular green tea. Coffe and desserts also was not very tasty. Staff saw we are not satisfied with food and they was just didnt care. I was shoked about it because its very popular mains cafe in my city. I leave a negative respond in google maps, cause i never had such a bad expirience

The last week I tried a cute coffee shop near my house. I think is my favorite place to get a coffee and peace time. First, the place was very nice with fall decorations. Second, the service was kind and fast, they explained me so clear somethings about the menu. Also, the food arrived really fast and the Chef walked to my table to give my food (I felt so special). Finally when I check the bill, I was in shock because was cheap. It was best bacon Sandwich I have ever eaten!

A good recommendation doesn't become a good meal! I can't say I have had a bad meal in any restaurant but I had a bad experience in a one Michelin Star Restaurant recommended by a good friend. That day, enjoying a walk around where the restaurant were located, my husband and I decided to ask for a reservation that night, but the chef told us it where all fully booked. Well, hours later, when we where going home, we saw the restaurant almost empty and we came in to ask why he told us they were all booked. The chef, invited us very annoyingly to leave the restaurant without any explanation. Next day in restaurant's web we leave a review saying what happend. The chef answered us in the same arrogant attitude, without any acceptable explanation.

I went with my sister, my mom, and my uncle to an ice cream place; it was great inside, Mario and Luigi drew and a lot of decorations, so we sat, but we needed to wait for 30 minutes there without any attention, so we decided to left the site, the person that was working there asked us why we were leaving the place, but we didn´t say anything and we went off that place without a word.

Mexico restaurant, Fukuoka

The interior design is great, the food and service are terrible. When I visited Fukuoka city with my girlfriend for the first time, we tried Mexican food for the first time in our lives. We both thought the restaurant looked great and its dishes must be delicious. So we ordered 4 dishes, and all looked so cheap even though they were expensive. I think they use instant food, instead of cooking real dishes. They also took table fees and service fees too. I don't think it is reasonable to take such a fee.

There was a time when individuals used to purchase facilities on the basis of eminence only. Today, customers wish to experience a complete service delivery that takes into account the physical atmosphere, employee performance, and food excellence. An excellent dining experience is a significant factor for both customers as well as restaurants. Studies in the past have shown the important effect of food quality, physical environment, employee behavior and service on customers’ dining experience. Thus, the concept of customers’ experiential value is a key component in restaurant service quality studies. This study sheds light on how food and service excellence, physical setting and employee behavior impacts on customers’ dining experience. The objective of this study is to explore the collective effect of mechanic, functional, and humanic clues on customer’s dining experience in fine dining restaurants. Subsequently, a quantitative research methodology examines the combined effects of the physical setting (mechanic clues), the conduct of employees (humanic clues) and the quality of the food (functional clues).

Building on justice theory, this paper discusses three vital components of service recovery strategies (distribu-tive justice, procedural justice, and interactional justice) that should be considered by restauranteurs in win-ning back disgruntled customers when service failure occurred. Reflecting the relevant scholarly discussions in various published literatures, this paper provides an overview of Malaysian’s restaurant industry and discusses a number of methods that have been employed in service recovery studies. Despite diverse methodological approaches, this paper highlights the utilization of experimental-based design which is regarded as a more ro-bust technique, yet it receives less attention in Asian’s service recovery context, particularly in Malaysia.

In the highly competitive business environment, customers’ evaluation of service quality is critical for service firms’ survival. While there are numerous studies on service quality, very few have investigated the moderating effect of gender on the relationship between service quality and customers’ satisfaction in Arabic restaurants. Therefore, this study aims to provide additional insight into the relationship between service quality and customer satisfaction by examining the moderating effect of customers’ gender in Arabic restaurants and to identify the extent of each service quality attributes in relation with customer satisfaction as they are perceived by Malaysian customers. A quantitative study was conducted and a set of questionnaire examining the attributes of service quality and customer satisfaction was developed. The data was collected through the survey completed by 411 respondents. Correlation analysis and hierarchical regressions were employed to analyse the data. The correlation analysis shows that all the five service quality attributes – tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance and empathy have positive relationship with customer satisfaction. However, hierarchical regressions indicated a slightly different result. The attributes-tangibles, assurance and empathy are found to have significant relationship with customer satisfaction, but the relationship with the other two attributes – reliability and responsiveness is insignificant. Empathy has a strong positive correlation with customers’ satisfaction while responsiveness has a weak positive relation with customers’ satisfaction. These findings indicate that restaurant operators should improve their service quality, especially in terms of their responsiveness in order to enhance customers’ satisfaction. In addition, gender plays a significant effect in the relationship between service quality and customer satisfaction.

INTRODUCTION According to the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), tourism industry is one of the most significant economic activities because it creates employment opportunities and increase foreign exchange income. With increasing competition between tourism destinations, food has been used as a source of attraction in many destinations to strengthen their tourism marketing. Tourism activity related to food has been labeled culinary tourism, gastronomy tourism, or food tourism. These terms have the same meaning: travel to a region in order to experience and taste its food (Ab Karim & Chi, 2010; Wolf, 2002).

Top 30 food review blogs in Malaysia

MEDIAPOD

Are you an F&B or restaurant operator looking to promote your eatery? Here, we compile a comprehensive list of popular food review blogs in Malaysia for you to explore!

In this article, we are going to list only the digital publishers who focus on food reviews, excluding those who curate cooking or baking recipes .

With so many food publishers around, this is a crowded space as food is always a popular topic for mass audiences. Besides, it does not require professional industry knowledge to curate content.

In general, we can categorize the food publishers into 3 languages here – English, Malay, and Chinese, basically for Malays or non-Malays.

Except for big or franchise F&B brands, most eateries are location-specific so many food blogs focus on certain areas only, mainly Klang Valley, Penang, Johor.

There are quite a couple of food review publishers who don’t have a website or are just publishing social media posts instead of blog articles.

Therefore, we are going to rank the publishers here by the number of Facebook followers. It makes sense too as food topics work well on Facebook – shareable and easier to go viral.

Let’s start with ranking the food publishers across all languages (minimum 70K FB followers), scroll down to this article for top publishers in English, Malay, and Chinese.

You can also browse online advertising solutions by food publishers here and shortlist the right ones for your business.

500 words Long Essay on Restaurant Review for Kids of Class 3 to Class 9

When people are looking to try some new restaurant, they start looking for online reviews. Reviews are by far the best way to judge whether you should or shouldn’t try a restaurant. Today’s essay is a review of a Papua restaurant.

Papua restaurant is situated in the heart of a small town in Makuta Province, Peru. It is perched on top of mara hill. It’s a favorite hangout place for couples, families, and sportsmen. The atmosphere is welcoming and admirable. Out of all the different restaurants I visited in Peru, this one had the most beautiful climate and eye-catching scenery. When you enter you get aw-stuck by the amazing interior and beautiful environment. You start to feel all cozy and comfortable when you sit and look around.

The restaurant offers its customers a wide range of entertainment options. These include live bands, plays, clubbing, camping, etc. All these facilities enable the customers to explore the countryside. They do also offer accommodation services with a wide array of choices for couples, singles, and families. Their accommodation rooms are well-designed and provide a magnificent view of Mara hill.

Now we come to the most important section, which is none other than the food section. The restaurant offers a wide variety of delicious food items including fried rice, steak, different cuisines, Chinese & Italian food along with mouth-watering dessert and chicken dishes. The owner himself instructed the waiters to attend to each customer for the best quality.

They also had a small snack bar that I loved. From the snack bar, I ate Ceviche, one of the most popular snacks in Peru. It was chilly, sour, and lively at the same time. I never tried raw fish before that and was skeptical at first but when I finally tried it, it blew my mind away. I would love to try it again, even a million times more. Based on my experience of the food I tried in this restaurant, how it tasted, and how well it was presented I would recommend it to all of you reading my review.

Let’s now talk about the room service. It was also good but not great, it wasn’t great because the rooms were less clean and untidy. Whenever I ordered food it arrived late because the room service was not quick enough. Other than that, they came every time I prompted. They were really friendly, skilled, and dedicated individuals. Despite all that, they still need to work on the tidiness of the rooms and the time they take to deliver the food.

The pros and cons of the Restaurant:

Overall it was a great experience. If I were to score it on a scale of 1 to 10, I would give it a 9 or else a 4.5-star review.

The Pros of this Hotel

The atmosphere, the taste of food, outside view, meals, dining experience, and price of food were all amazing. In addition to this, the accommodation services offered by the restaurant at those prices were a blessing.

The Cons of this Hotel

As I also mentioned above, based on my experience, the restaurant had one downside and it was the room service. Other than that I was completely satisfied with all other services offered.

My Recommendation

Concisely, Papua restaurants deliver the best dining experience with exquisite flavors. I highly recommend going there and to experience it yourself. I am hopeful that everyone will enjoy all they offer and not just the food. I would love to visit again if I ever get a chance to travel to Peru.

Short 150-200 Words Restaurant Review Essay in English for Children and Kids from Primary and High School

I am writing a review of the beautiful Papua restaurant I recently visited during my time in Peru. This hotel is situated in the heart of a small town in Makuta Province, Peru. It is constructed on top of the elegant Mara hill.

When you enter the hotel you get awe-stuck by the delightful merge of antique art and modern designs. The designs and architecture coupled with elegant lighting leave you all cozy and relaxed. From the top of the mountains where the lounge is pegged, there was a breathtaking view of the slopes and the short waterfall.

Adjacent to a winding road downhill there are the rolling plains that add to its beauty. They offer live bands, clubbing, camping, and accommodation services. During my stay, I had the pleasure of experiencing their accommodation, clubbing, and food services.

The restaurant’s menu was mouth-watering with a plethora of options. Most meals were prepared from fresh, healthy organic ingredients found in abundance within the restaurant vicinity. Some of their recipes featured local flavors which you should surely try out, they were rare and delicious delicacies.

The accommodation was also very neat and tidy with room service always standing by for anything we needed. On top of that, the breathtaking view I had from my room was something I will never forget.

I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is thinking about visiting Peru. The quality of food, the location, family atmosphere, and accommodation services were all up to the mark. It’s also a great couple and family space. Based on my experience, I would give it a 5-star review and would love to visit again if I ever can.
