The Last Khutbah (Sermon) of Prophet Muhammad (SAW)

Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) delivered his last khutbah on the ninth of Dhul Hijjah , which is the last month of the Islamic year. The incident commenced 10 years after Hijrah (A.H.), migration from Makkah to Madinah, in the Uranah Valley of mount Arafat . The words he spoke were coherent and concise; addressed to the whole humanity. After praising, and thanking Allah (SWT), Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said:

"O People, lend me an attentive ear, for I know not whether after this year, I shall ever be amongst you again. Therefore, listen to what I am saying to you very carefully and take these words to those who could not be present here today. O People, just as you regard this month, this day, this city as Sacred, so regard the life and property of every Muslim as a sacred trust. Return the goods entrusted to you to their rightful owners. Hurt no one so that no one may hurt you. Remember that you will indeed meet your Lord, and that He will indeed reckon your deeds. God has forbidden you to take usury (interest), therefore all interest obligation shall henceforth be waived. Your capital, however, is yours to keep. You will neither inflict nor suffer any inequity. God has Judged that there shall be no interest, and that all the interest due to Al-Abbas ibn Abdul Muttalib shall henceforth be waived... Beware of Satan, for the safety of your religion. He has lost all hope that he will ever be able to lead you astray in big things, so beware of following him in small things. O People, it is true that you have certain rights with regard to your women, but they also have rights over you. Remember that you have taken them as your wives only under a trust from God and with His permission. If they abide by your right, then to them belongs the right to be fed and clothed in kindness. Do treat your women well and be kind to them for they are your partners and committed helpers. And it is your right that they do not make friends with any one of whom you do not approve, as well as never to be unchaste. O People, listen to me in earnest, worship God, perform your five daily prayers, fast during the month of Ramadan , and offer Zakat. Perform Hajj if you have the means. All mankind is from Adam and Eve. An Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab, nor does a non-Arab have any superiority over an Arab; a white has no superiority over a black, nor does a black have any superiority over a white; [none have superiority over another] except by piety and good action. Learn that every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that the Muslims constitute one brotherhood. Nothing shall be legitimate to a Muslim which belongs to a fellow Muslim unless it was given freely and willingly. Do not, therefore, do injustice to yourselves. Remember, one day you will appear before God and answer for your deeds. So beware, do not stray from the path of righteousness after I am gone. O People, no prophet or apostle will come after me, and no new faith will be born. Reason well, therefore, O people, and understand words which I convey to you. I leave behind me two things, the Quran and my example, the Sunnah, and if you follow these you will never go astray. All those who listen to me shall pass on my words to others and those to others again; and it may be that the last ones understand my words better than those who listen to me directly. Be my witness, O God, that I have conveyed your message to your people."

Prophet Muhammad (SAW) completed his last khutbah, near the summit of Arafat, whereby the following revelation came down:

… This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and have approved for you Islam as religion.…" ( Quran 5:3 )

Prophet_Muhammad_s_Last_Sermon_-_A_Final_Admonition_001.jpg

God says in the Quran that he was sent as a mercy for the people of the world.

"We sent thee not save as a mercy for the peoples." (Quran 21:107)

His Prophetic Mission began at the age of forty, circa 610 C.E., and continued until 632 C.E.  From the path of ignorance, mankind was lead to the straight path and was blessed with the guidance of God.

Shortly before his death, Prophet Muhammad delivered a sermon during the Hajj , which came to be known as his "Final Sermon".  This final sermon was not only a reminder to his followers, but also an important admonition.  The final sermon confirms the end of his Prophetic Mission.

Year 10 A.H.  of the Islamic Calendar is considered to be one of the most significant years for three reasons.  Firstly, this was the year when the Prophet delivered his Last Sermon during his farewell pilgrimage to Mecca.  Secondly, this was the year where a number of deputations came to the Prophet to announce their Islam as well as their tribes.  Thirdly, it was the golden period of Islam when multitudes of people embraced the faith by accepting the message of the Prophet.

Prophet Muhammad undertook his farewell pilgrimage in the year 10 A.H.  His farewell pilgrimage to Mecca is one of the most significant historical events in the minds of Muslims, for it was the first and last pilgrimage made by Prophet Muhammad, as well as being the model for performing the fifth pillar of Islam, the Hajj .

Prophet Muhammad’s final sermon was delivered during the Hajj of the year 632 C.E., the ninth day of Dhul Hijjah, the 12th month of the lunar year, at Arafat, the most blessed day of the year.  There were countless Muslims present with the Prophet during his last pilgrimage when he delivered his last Sermon.

The Final Sermon:

After praising, and thanking God, the Prophet, may the mercy and blessings of God be upon him, said "O People, lend me an attentive ear, for I know not whether after this year, I shall ever be amongst you again.

God has Judged that there shall be no interest, and that all the interest due to Al-Abbas ibn Abd’el Muttalib shall henceforth be waived...

If they abide by your right then to them belongs the right to be fed and clothed in kindness.  Do treat your women well and be kind to them for they are your partners and committed helpers.  And it is your right that they do not make friends with any one of whom you do not approve, as well as never to be unchaste.

O People, listen to me in earnest, worship God, perform your five daily prayers, fast during the month of Ramadan, and offer Zakat.

Thus the beloved Prophet completed his Final Sermon, and upon it, near the summit of Arafat, the revelation came down:

"…This day have I perfected your religion for you, completed My Grace upon you, and have chosen Islam for you as your religion…" (Quran 5:3)

Even today the Last Sermon of Prophet Muhammad is passed to every Muslim in every corner of the world through all possible means of communication.  Muslims are reminded about it in mosques and in lectures.  Indeed the meanings found in this sermon are indeed astounding, touching upon some of the most important rights God has over humanity, and humanity has over each other.  Though the Prophet’s soul has left this world, his words are still living in our hearts.

The Last Sermon

The last sermon of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) is known as the Farewell Sermon or ' Khutbah al-Wida '. It was delivered during his farewell pilgrimage in the valley of Mount Arafat near Mecca on the 9th day of the Islamic month of Dhu al-Hijjah, in the year 10 AH (632 CE), just a few months before his passing. This sermon is considered one of the most significant and comprehensive speeches delivered by the Prophet (SAW), as it contains guidance on various aspects of life and serves as a farewell address to the Muslim community.

The main points and themes of the Farewell Sermon include:

Oneness of God:

Prophet Muhammad (SAW) emphasized the importance of belief in the oneness of Allah (God) and the rejection of polytheism.

Equality and Brotherhood:

The Prophet (SAW) stressed the equality of all Muslims, regardless of their race or social status. He declared that all believers are brothers and sisters and no one is above anyone except in piety and ' Taqwah .'

Economic Justice:

The Prophet (SAW) discouraged usury (riba) and emphasized fair and just economic practices. He also urged the return of any unjustly acquired property to its rightful owner.

Women's Rights:

Prophet Muhammad (SAW) emphasized the rights of women and the importance of treating them with kindness and respect. He warned against the mistreatment of women and acknowledged their rights to inheritance and protection.

Human Rights:

The Prophet (SAW) highlighted the sanctity of human life and property, emphasizing that no one has the right to harm or violate the rights of others.

Guidance for the Future:

He (SAW) advised Muslims to hold onto the Quran and Sunnah (his teachings and actions) as their guiding principles, and he prayed to preserve the message he delivered.

The Prophet (SAW) concluded his sermon by asking the believers to convey his message to those not present. Then He (SAW) raised his forefinger to the sky and said, " Be my witness, O Allah, that I have conveyed your message to your people."

The Sermon in Full (Khutbah al-Wida)

After praising and thanking Allah Almighty, Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said:

“O People, lend me an attentive ear, for I know not whether after this year, I shall ever be amongst you again. Therefore listen to what I am saying to you very carefully and take these words to those who could not be present here today.

O People, just as you regard this month, this day, this city as sacred, so regard the life and property of every Muslim as a sacred trust. Return the goods entrusted to you to their rightful owners. Allah has forbidden you to take usury (interest); therefore all interest obligations shall henceforth be waived. Your capital, however, is yours to keep. You will neither inflict nor suffer any inequity. Allah has judged that there shall be no interest and that all the interest due to Abbas ibn Abdul Muttalib (Prophet’s uncle) shall henceforth be waived…

Beware of Satan, for the safety of your religion. He has lost all hope that he will ever be able to lead you astray in big things, so beware of following him in small things.

O People, it is true that you have certain rights with regard to your women, but they also have rights over you. All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over black nor does a black have any superiority over a white except by piety and good action. His farewell pilgrimage to Mecca is one of the most significant historical events in the minds of Muslims, for it was the first and last pilgrimage performed by Prophet Muhammad, as well as being the model for performing the fifth pillar of Islam, Hajj.

Prophet Muhammad’s final sermon was delivered during the Hajj of the year 632 C.E., the ninth day of Dhul Hijjah, the 12th month of the lunar year, at Arafat, the most blessed day of the year. There were numerous Muslims present with the Prophet during his last pilgrimage when he delivered his last sermon.

Even today, the last sermon of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is passed to every Muslim in every corner of the world through all possible means of communication. Muslims are reminded of it in mosques and in lectures. Indeed the meanings found in this sermon are astounding, touching upon some of the most important rights Allah Almighty has over humanity, and humanity has over each other. Though the Prophet’s soul (peace be upon him) has left this world, his words are still living in our hearts.

After praising and thanking Allah, Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said:

“O People, lend me an attentive ear, for I know not whether after this year, I shall ever be amongst you again. Therefore listen to what I am saying to you very carefully and TAKE THESE WORDS TO THOSE WHO COULD NOT BE PRESENT HERE TODAY. O People, just as you regard this month, this day, this city as sacred, so regard the life and property of every Muslim as a sacred trust. Return the goods entrusted to you to their rightful owners. Hurt no one so that no one may hurt you. Remember that you will indeed meet your Lord, and that He will indeed reckon your deeds. Allah has forbidden you to take usury (interest); therefore all interest obligations shall henceforth be waived. Your capital, however, is yours to keep. You will neither inflict nor suffer any inequity. Allah has judged that there shall be no interest and that all the interest due to Abbas ibn Abdul Muttalib (Prophet’s uncle) shall henceforth be waived… Beware of Satan, for the safety of your religion. He has lost all hope that he will ever be able to lead you astray in big things, so beware of following him in small things. O People, it is true that you have certain rights with regard to your women, but they also have rights over you. Remember that you have taken them as your wives only under Allah’s trust and with His permission. If they abide by your right then to them belongs the right to be fed and clothed in kindness. Do treat your women well and be kind to them for they are your partners and committed helpers. And it is your right that they do not make friends with any one of whom you do not approve, as well as never to be unchaste. O People, listen to me in earnest, worship Allah, perform your five daily prayers (salah), fast during the month of Ramadan, and give your wealth in zakat (almsgiving). Perform Hajj if you can afford it. All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over black nor does a black have any superiority over a white except by piety and good action. Learn that every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that the Muslims constitute one brotherhood. Nothing shall be legitimate to a Muslim which belongs to a fellow Muslim unless it was given freely and willingly. Do not, therefore, do injustice to yourselves. Remember, one day you will appear before Allah and answer for your deeds. So beware, do not stray from the path of righteousness after I am gone. O People, no prophet or apostle will come after me and no new faith will be born. Reason well, therefore, O People, and understand words which I convey to you. I leave behind me two things, the QURAN and my example, the SUNNAH and if you follow these you will never go astray. All those who listen to me shall pass on my words to others and those to others again; and may the last ones understand my words better than those who listen to me directly. Be my witness, O Allah, that I have conveyed your message to your people”.

The Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) Last Sermon This sermon was delivered on the Ninth Day of Dhul Hijjah 10 A.H. in the ‘Uranah valley of Mount Arafat’ (in Mecca).

After praising, and thanking Allah he said:

“O People, lend me an attentive ear, for I know not whether after this year, I shall ever be amongst you again. Therefore listen to what I am saying to you very carefully and TAKE THESE WORDS TO THOSE WHO COULD NOT BE PRESENT HERE TODAY.

6 Points to Remember From Prophet Muhammad’s Last Sermon

' src=

With Hajj season and Eid-ul-Adha around the corner, it is only befitting to reflect on the beautiful words of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Words spoken to be heard by the heart and implemented in our daily lives. The words of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) are direct. They are powerful, beautiful and easy to understand by anyone on any level. The whole Khutbah (sermon) is a gem and a reminder of our responsibility and accountability to Allah, so I’ll let you read it for yourself. My reflective two-cents will just be six points that touch and teach my soul on a daily basis.

1. Hurt no one, so that no one hurts you.

That moment when the Prophet’s last sermon begins with declaring the sanctity of life and property and the importance of treating your fellow Muslim as a sacred trust. #HumanityGoals. That brings me to the next point.

2. Be kind to women.

(I’m looking at you, wallahbros). That sacred trust and sanctity of life applies to women as well. And if that woman happens to be your wife, understand that she is your partner and companion not your subservient. Yes, it’s a beautiful balancing act. The relationship is a give and take of love, kindness and responsibility to Allah and each other.

3. Follow Qur’an and Sunnah.

Too often our own flawed opinions and ideologies cloud our minds. We form opinions based off of our limited perspective or what everyone else is doing or what our culture tells us to do and we forget to search for the truth. Of what Allah tells us to do, of what the Prophet has shown us. Follow Qur’an and Sunnah.

4. Beware of Satan and the small sins.

The Prophet (PBUH) warns us of the small sins that will lead us astray. The ones that appear to be minimal. You know, when you shouldn’t do something but you do it anyway because it’s just that “one time?” Those are the ones that turn into habits. The ones that Shaitan (Satan) has planted, watered (with like acid or something) and watched grow. May Allah protect us from the evil of Shaitan . Ameen .

5. Follow the five pillars of Islam.

Well, they aren’t called pillars for nothing. Literally, the foundation of Muslim life. Not much to say here but erect some pillars for ya.

  • The belief in the Oneness of Allah and that the Prophet is the last Messenger.
  • Establishing the five daily prayers. Make Salah !
  • Giving Charity ( Zakat ).
  • Fasting during the month of Ramadan.
  • For those who are able, performing Hajj .

I’ll also just leave this here to sit on your heart and soul.

“All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over black nor a black has any superiority over white except by piety and good action.”

Such a statement is so relevant and needed hundreds of years from when it was made. I mean we currently have bigotry and superiority complexes inciting violence, demanding walls be built, murdering human beings in the streets and so much more. I know, how can there be more? Yet another reason why the Prophet’s words (PBUH) are so poignant and so on time in shedding light on what truly makes one person different from the next — and guess what? It isn’t directed towards the color of their skin or the social class they belong in. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) gave his last sermon, Khutbatul Wada’ , on the 10th year of the Hijra on the ninth day of Dhul Hijjah at Mount Arafat. Because my words will never be good enough, here is our beloved Prophet’s (PBUH) last sermon. After giving praise and thanks to Allah the Prophet (PBUH) continued with:

Thank you. But who are the “wallahbros” . What do you mean by it. What are you implying. What ever it means, it sure seems steeped in sarcasm and ridicule. Sort of negates your advice here. Unless you are saying to “Do as I say not as I do”.

I think this is what she means by wallahbros. They wrote an article about it recently : http://muslimgirl.com/28278/wbw-wallah-arent-buying-youre-just-creepy/

“who are the “wallahbros”. What do you mean by it. That is a frivolous use of the Arabic word Wallah ” وَٱللّٰه “ . Wallah means “By Allah”. Or “I promise in the name of Allah”. For a Muslim this is the ultimate expression of credibility, making Allah your Witness, in making a promise. In Islam this is one of very few ways to make a valid promise because to use Allah’s Name frivolously, in vain is prohibited harram . To lie is a sin in Islam. To lie in Allah’s name compounds that sin: A major Sin!. “it sure seems steeped in sarcasm and ridicule. Sort of negates your advice here. You got that right. Here Maryam Abdul-Kareem in her feminist hubris is apparently calling out Allah’s Name frivolously. Probably is one of those new breed of feminists, Muslim feminists whatever that is. Seems an oxymoron to me.

“it is true that you have certain rights with regard to your women”, they are your “committed helpers” and “it is your right that they do not make friends with any one of whom you do not approve, as well as never to be unchaste”. How brainwashed are you that you perceive these words as “being kind”, they are directly implying women are property of men. Your Mohammed cannot even show the respect to address women directly, only as subordinates. And don’t even get me started on the “hurt no one” part, as Jihad and murder of people who did not believe in monotheism were directly prompted by your “dear” Prophet. Your “dear” Prophet was a wealthy warlord who murdered innocent people and kept sex slaves. His “preachings” are nothing more but plagiarism from the Bible and Old Testament that he used to solidify his political power. Islam is the worst thing to ever happen to humanity. It is backwards, violent, sexist, and brainwashes people to commit some of the worst crimes known to humanity. Your “Prophet” is the incarnation of a greedy, pleasure-seeking, violent and sexist devil.

To answer all of them in writing is difficult. I Request You to just type on YouTube the issue you want to know followed by Dr. Zakir Naik, as, Islam and Bible in the light of modern science by Dr. Zakir Naik. . . then decide yourselves. I pray to ALLAH, The All Mighty to make us HIS true Believer. You wrote so much disgusts about my Holy Prophet, and i consume them by keeping view of my Holy Prophet’s good conduct, that is even proven by non-Muslims (Ref: Micheal Heart book of 100 Influential persons)

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is an inspiration to hundreds of millions of people around the world. He is the best of creations, he is a role model on how to be of exemplary character, kindness, compassion, mercy, gratitude, thankfulness, abundance, courage, fearlessness, self-reflection, and an unwavering belief in his mission. You even don’t know a single word about our prophet Muhammad.

There are so many books written by non-Muslim authors over the good character of our holy prophet Muhammad. The whole internet is full of Quotes and Hadith provided by our holy prophet Muhammad. Just Google It and you will feel shame of what you have written about my holy prophet. Just wasting your time .

Many objections raised & keeping raising. To answer all of them in writing is difficult. I Request All of You to just type on YouTube the issue you want to know followed by Dr. Zakir Naik, as, Islam and Bible in the light of modern science by Dr. Zakir Naik. . . then decide yourselves. I pray to ALLAH, The All Mighty to make us HIS true Believer.

A-Introductory

Introduction- Praise to Allah PART-A All praise be to Allah, in whose deference do we pay homage and from Whom we ask help and forgiveness. It is to Him that we turn and ask for refuge from our carnal mischief and wrong doings. Whomever Allah guides can never turn astray and one who is mislead by Him can never be solicited or guided And I bear witness that there is no God but Allah, the One, having no partner with Him, in either image or symbols. And I Muhammad am His Bondsman and His Messenger.

Ye People_huminity • A.  Ye people: Listen to my words carefully and mark them, for who knows after this year we may never meet at this place again. • B.     Ye People of God: I don’t know whether another year will be vouchsafed to me after this year to find myself amongst you. • C.     Ye People: Observe silence, you might not be able to see me next year.

Cont… D.     Ye People: Behold! I want to explain with elaboration everything, as perhaps after this year I might not be able to meet you ever.   E.     People: Learn every aspect pertaining to the rite of Hajj from me, for I may not be vouchsafed another pilgrimage. • F.     May Allah nurture him with His Blessing, who listened to what I said, and disseminated it to others, as at times one who listens may not be wise, and the one to whom it is disseminated may be wiser.

B- equality

Equality-First Message • Observe! Every one is equal. • There is no superiority of an Arab over a non-Arab and of a non-Arab over an Arab. Neither a black over a white nor a white over a black has any superiority and distinction over each other except on the basis of piety and fear of God

Equality • Section.1 • Equality • You have one Lord and one father. You are all a progeny of Adam and Adam was created from clay. • Verily in the sight of Allah, the most honorable amongst you is the one who is most God fearing without doubt He knoweth all. • Section.2 People of God. • I will you to fear Allah and order you to yield and worship Him and initiate my Address with this virtuous word.

All previous obligation were quashed • Section.3 • Know that! Age of darkness and ignorance is quashed under my heels. • Now all signs of ignorance have been eliminated and made to halt • 1.Beware! Everything related to the people of ignorance is under my (these two) feet • 2. Behold! All practices of the days of ignorance like blood (revenges) illegally possessed property and other signs of days of ignorance (familial and inheritable pride) lie quashed under my heels till the Day of Judgment

Qasas and Diyat as Right • Every claim of privilege whether that of blood or property, is under my heels except that of the custody of the Ka’ba and supplying of water to the pilgrims • QatleAmad or murder would be avenged. Under the definition of QatleAmad would fall murders committed by a staff or a stone and the Diyat or compensation is hundred camels. (camel today ?) • Anyone who asks for more in compensation he would be included amongst the ignorant •  Abolishing Riba • And every type of interest from this day here in is declared wiped out and prohibited, although you have a right to get back your principal sum, so that neither you nor the borrower is in deficit. Allah has decided against interest.

Qasas and Riba • 5. And all interest based on business are made to be evil – (And as far as Abbas bin Abdul Mutalib is concerned, his relation to interest is frozen) 6.And the blood revenges of the days of ignorance are extinguished and prohibited from now – (and with this I forgive the first blood revenge of my family that of Rabaita’s (Bin Al Haris bin Abdul Mutalib) child who was murdered by BanuHazil knowingly. Thus I as a pioneer volunteer to forgive the blood split during the days of ignorance

HalalHaram by Allah • 7.Ye people! • a) Without doubt ‘Nasai’ (tempering with months) envisages disbelief and Kufr and the disbelievers are lead astray due to this • For one month (due to personal interest or psychological interest) they proclaim a month as Halal & when the interest subsides, they cause the same month next year as Haram, so that the number of Haram months proclaimed by Allah are fulfilled superficially. Thus this is how they temper with Allah’s proclaimed Halal months and turn them into Haram and violate the sacred months

Halal and Haram by Allah • Now the time has completed its cycle and has come a square round from the day the universe started from its creation. • To Allah there are twelve months, four are sacred and inviolable, three of which follow consecutively: • (ZilQad, Zil Hajj and Muharram)) and one occurs singularly and separately (i.e. Rajab) which is also known as ShahrMazr; and which occurs between JamadiulSani and Shaban. • And the month may consist of 29 or of 30 days. Say if you have understood me. • To which the crowd affirmed in positive. • And then the Holy Prophet (SAW) exclaimed God as his witness.

C- Protection

Protection of Life, Property Honor c) Listen; Hajj / pilgrimage would remain associated with the month of Zil Hajj till the Day of Judgment Section.4 • People! Do you know on which day, of which month, of which place /city you are assembled. Every one replied: on sacred day, at sacred city and on sacred month. To which the Holy Prophet (SAW) assured verily your blood are sacred and inviolable on each other. • Section.5 • And your property and possession

Cont…. • Section.6 • And your honor • Section.7 • And your flesh (skin, body) including is sacred and inviolable on each other, until you appear before your Lord, as the sacred inviolability of this day of yours this month of yours, and this town of yours • Verily you will meet your Lord and you will be held answerable for your actions

D- Social And Economic Codes

No transgression of unjust treatment-Peaceful Social Life • Section.8 • Peaceful Social Life • Listen to me and you will attain real Life, but conditional upon the following: • Beware! Do not transgress upon each other • Observe! Do not misbehave or be unjust with each other • Understand it for sure!Do not commit misbehavior upon each other

Brotherhood and Social linkage Section.9 • People of God! Listen to me and understand verily every Muslim is the brother of the other Muslim and all the Muslims form one brotherhood Section.10 • Beware ! Every Muslim is honorable and sacred for the other Muslim Section.11 And every believer is sacred upon the other believer (like this day which also has a sanctity):

Social Code (i) His flesh is sacred upon the other; (ii) And backbiting, thus would amount to eating the flesh of the other; (iii)   And one’s honor is sacred and cannot be violated; (iv) And one’s face is sacred for another and cannot be physically violated; (v)  And to cause pain is forbidden; (vi) And this too is forbidden that in order to cause one pain, he is pushed; (vii) And this too is prohibited upon one Muslim to disregard the blood of another as Halal; (viii) Nothing of his brother is lawful for a Muslim except what he himself gives willingly. So do not wrong yourself; (And should I tell you who is a real Muslim?)

Each Prophet’s invitation to his message has elapsed except mine for my message has been vaulted with the Almighty forever and is going to sustain for all times to come

Faiths and Akhrat • After this the Prophets would feel proud of the numbers but remember do not let me down with your bad / evil doings. I will await you at the Hauz-e-Kausar. • Beware! I will reach the Hauz-e-Kausar before you and will feel proud at your numbers in comparison to other nations. So do not become a source of my embarrassment • Behold! • I will help in emancipating some of the people (from Hell), yet some will part from me and when I would ask Allah that are they not my nation / followers? To which Allah would reply ‘ You do not know what evil they did after you

Akhrat Section.45 • Take heed not to go astray after me and strike one another’s necks Section.46 • And listen again! When you would meet your Lord, He surely will inquire about your deeds;

Akhrat • Thus the only one who would be given heart’s gratification, and before his eyes generous boons would befall, and the world itself would yield under his feet • But the one who endears this transitional world as permanent end, Allah will create chaos and division in his affairs, and that man would see and witness poverty and suffering in this world • And he would only receive his due share that is already fated upon him

Last Sermon of Holy Prophet (PBUH)

  • Last Sermon of Holy Prophet PBUH

blog-detail-img.jpg

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) delivered his last sermon (Khutbah) on the ninth of Dhul Hijjah (12th and last month of the Islamic year), 10 years after Hijrah (migration from Makkah to Madinah) in the Uranah Valley of mount Arafat. His words were quite clear and concise and were directed to the entire humanity. After praising, and thanking Allah he said: “O People, lend me an attentive ear, for I know not whether after this year, I shall ever be amongst you again. Allah has forbidden you to take usury (interest), therefore all interest obligation shall henceforth be waived. Your capital, however, is yours to keep. You will neither inflict nor suffer any inequity. Allah has Judged that there shall be no interest and that all the interest due to Abbas ibn Abd Al-Muttalib (Prophet’s uncle) shall henceforth be waived. Beware of Satan, for the safety of your religion. He has lost all hope that he will ever be able to lead you astray in big things, so beware of following him in small things. O people, it is true that you have certain rights with regard to your women, but they also have rights over you. O people, listen to me in earnest, worship Allah, say your five daily prayers (Salah), fast during the month of Ramadan, and give your wealth in Zakat. Perform Hajj if you can afford to. All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over black nor a black has any superiority over white except bypiety (taqwa) and good action. Learn that every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that the Muslims constitute one brotherhood. Nothing shall be legitimate to a Muslim which belongs to a fellow Muslim unless it was given freely and willingly. Do not, therefore, do injustice to yourselves. Remember, one day you will appear before Allah and answer your deeds. So beware, do not stray from the path of righteousness after I am gone. O people, no prophet or apostle will come after me and no new faith will be born. Reason well, therefore, O people, and understand words which I convey to you. I leave behind me two things, the Qu'ran and my example, the Sunnah and if you follow these you will never go astray. All those who listen to me shall pass on my words to others and those to others again; and may the last ones understand my words better than those who listen to me directly. Be my witness, O Allah, that I have conveyed your message to your people”. (Reference: See Al-Bukhari, Hadith 1623, 1626, 6361) Sahih of Imam Muslim also refers to this sermon in Hadith number 98. Imam al-Tirmidhi has mentioned this sermon in Hadith nos. 1628, 2046, 2085. Imam Ahmed bin Hanbal has given us the longest and perhaps the most complete version of this sermon in his Masnud, Hadith no. 19774.)
