Homeschooling at Christmas Time

I know a lot of people wonder how they could ever possibly homeschool at Christmas time. The answer is, that you really don’t have to if you don’t want to. There is no reason why you can’t take a week or two or even a whole month off from lesson plans during the holiday season.

However, not every homeschooling family feels comfortable taking that much time off from school, and that’s okay too. There are so many ideas for  Christmas homeschool activities  available for you to enjoy during the holiday season.

Trust me when I say learning can definitely still happen, even when you are enjoying some good old-fashioned holiday fun. I have been homeschooling my kids for more than 13 years and November and December are always our favorite times of the year to homeschool in because of all the fun Christmas-themed activities we get to enjoy in our homeschool.

Today, I’m sharing with you some of our very favorite Christmas activities, along with some other  homeschooling through the holiday season  insights.

Have any ideas for other fun activities homeschooling families can enjoy this Christmas? Share them with us!

20 Christmas Homeschool Activity Ideas

The Christmas excitement is in the air in my house in a big way! This time of year, homeschooling is really hard… unless it has a Christmas theme. Here are a few of our very favorite Christmas homeschool activity ideas.

I only recommend products that I use and that we love.  This post contains affiliate links and I may earn a small commission when you click on the links. There is no additional cost to you and you are supporting my family as I help others homeschool with confidence. Thank you!

Do We Need to Do Homeschool at Christmastime?

The short answer is, no. As long as you are following your state’s legal requirements for homeschooling , you can choose your own homeschool schedule . And, most traditional schools will be taking some extended time off this month. However, many of the fun activities that you will be doing anyway this time of year can be great ways to practice the things your kids are already learning in your homeschool. With a little bit of creativity, you can plan some fun, Christmas themed lessons for your kids that allow them to practice their skills while celebrating the season at the same time. Here are a few Christmas homeschool activity ideas:

Christmas Homeschool Activity Ideas for Language and Reading

1. read the christmas story.

We love to read and study the Christmas story during this time of year! I think it is so important that my kids understand why we are celebrating Christmas, and so I try to share the Christmas story with them in an age-appropriate way. We love to read the Christmas story from our favorite Bible and I also like to set out several picture books about the Christmas story so my kids can enjoy them throughout the season.

2. Read Fun Christmas books

We almost always have a read-aloud book that we read as a part of our homeschool. Even though my son is a strong independent reader now, he still enjoys being read to, and so does my daughter who is too young to read on her own yet. It is important for kids to hear lots of spoken language, and it is beneficial even for kids who can read on their own to hear books read aloud. This is also a way to expose kids to more complex stories that would be too difficult to read on their own. Check out this list of fun Christmas read-aloud books to find some ideas to get you started!

After you read the book, take some time to discuss it with your kids for even more learning. Resources like these Grinch reading comprehension questions can be a good starting point.

3. Write Christmas cards

Who do you know that might enjoy receiving a handwritten Christmas card? Christmas time is the perfect opportunity to teach our kids this skill that is becoming a lost art in our culture. Kids who are practicing their handwriting can add a note of their own to your family’s Christmas cards, or sign their own names at the bottom. Kids who are too young to write yet might enjoy drawing pictures to add to the cards, or creating an art project like a DIY marbled Christmas card . The process of writing Christmas cards is a great way to model care for family and friends to our kids.

Christmas Homeschool Activity Ideas baking

Christmas Homeschool Activities for Math

4. plan a christmas-themed math lesson.

Even an ordinary math lesson can be a lot of fun when you add a little twist to make it more festive this time of year. Consider using jingle bells and a magnet wand instead of counters and manipulatives in your math lessons this month. I’ve collected 12 of my favorite Christmas themed math lessons, plus all the printables and lesson plans you’ll need to complete them, in my 12 Days of Christmas Math Games and Activities . You can read more about the lessons or purchase the complete plans here .

5. Bake Christmas cookies

Baking with your kids is a great way to encourage some hands-on learning! Baking is the perfect opportunity to practice working with fractions. Kids can practice measuring ingredients, and they can count to keep track of how many eggs or scoops of flour you have added to the recipe. You can practice multiplication or division by doubling or halving the recipe as well. Kids who are reading can be responsible for reading the recipe, and this is a great way for kids to practice following directions step by step.

6. Play a Christmas game

Playing games with kids is a fantastic way to practice math facts while having lots of fun! Many games require kids to practice math skills while playing. They may need to count squares to move their game piece, add the numbers on the dice, or use strategy to plan their next move. Look for a Christmas themed game for even more fun this time of year.

7. Go Christmas shopping

Involving kids in the Christmas shopping process is a great way to practice budgeting and learn about the value of money. Kids can help with comparison shopping and choosing presents, and they can practice addition and money skills as they help. Your family can adopt a family to purchase gifts for, and this is a great way to encourage kids to be givers too. Kids can also help shop for their own gifts to give their siblings or cousins. Older kids can even work to earn money to purchase gifts. Check out this list of educational toys that make great gifts !

Christmas Homeschool Activity Ideas Reading Together

Christmas Homeschool Activity Ideas for Science

8. do a christmas-themed science experiment.

Check out my Christmas Science Experiments bundle , which includes everything you need to plan 4 Christmas science experiments, each based on a popular Christmas book. Teach kids about the scientific method, making hypotheses, and recording results as you enjoy a fun hands-on science experiment. You can learn more about these experiments here ! (And be sure to read to the end of this post to find out how you can enter to WIN this resource, along with over $250 in other prizes!)

9. Do a Winter Nature Study

What can you learn outside this season? Consider taking a nature walk to observe local plants and any animals that you can find. You can also hang up a bird feeder in your yard to attract birds, and then use a bird identification book to learn about the species that are local to your area.

Christmas Homeschool Activities for History and Geography

10. learn about holiday traditions around the world.

There are a number of Christmas around the world unit studies available that make great geography and culture studies this time of year!

Christmas Homeschool Activity Ideas for Art

11. make christmas ornaments.

One of our favorite family traditions is to have the kids make a new kind of Christmas ornament each year. We make enough of these ornaments to give to family and friends in addition to putting them on our own Christmas tree. It is fun to look back at the ornaments that our kids made in past years. Check out these cute salt dough Santa handprint ornaments or find lots of great ideas for Christmas ornaments to make on Pinterest .

12. Color Christmas pictures

We love Christmas coloring pages, and we always have a stack available for kids who are looking for something fun to do. My kids love hanging up the pictures that they have colored to help decorate their bedrooms!

fun christmas homework ideas

13. Do a Christmas craft

Kids can help make hand print wreaths or paper snowflakes to decorate the house for Christmas. Making woodland Christmas decorations can be an easy way to get kids involved. Kids might enjoy making crafts to use to decorate in their bedroooms as well! Find even more ideas for Christmas crafts here.

14. add advent to your morning basket.

Advent activities for kids are a great way to help your kids remember the reason for the season.

Check out these free morning basket plans for Advent . This resource includes 4 weeks of homeschool plans with prayer, scripture memorization, poetry, music appreciation, picture study, nature study, art, math, and reading activities included. This is a fantastic resource for planning your homeschool lessons at Christmastime!

15. Count Down to Christmas

There are lots of fun ways to count down to Christmas, but our favorite is our Lego Brick Advent Calendar. My kids build something new out of Lego bricks each day.

You can customize your advent calendar to match your child’s interests. Check out some fun advent calendar ideas to help you get started.

We have also enjoyed moving our Elf on a Shelf each day as we count down to Christmas. I love coming up with funny elf on the shelf ideas to make my kids laugh. You can start the season by reading How to Catch an Elf and doing some How to Catch an Elf book activities , and we always end with an Elf on the Shelf goodbye letter .

16. Celebrate Advent with a Jesse Tree

An advent Jesse tree is a way to celebrate the Christmas season by counting down to Christmas with devotionals that remind us of God’s promises and how they were fulfilled in the birth of Jesus. My favorite resource to share the idea of an Advent Jesse Tree with kids is the printable Christmas ornaments from the Jesus Storybook Bible. This free printable includes 24 Christmas ornaments that correspond to the stories in the Jesus Storybook Bible. You can print the ornaments and hang one on your Christmas tree each night in December as you read the stories from the Bible. This is a fun way to count down to Christmas while remembering the reason for the season! Get your free download of the ornaments here .

Christmas Homeschool Activity Ideas

17. Listen to Christmas Carols

This is the perfect time of year to learn some new Christmas songs with your kids! You can take some time to research the meaning behind favorite songs, or just to explain to your kids what a “one-horse open sleigh” really is! Consider going caroling with your family, or recording a video of your kids singing a favorite song to share with family and friends.

18. Watch a Favorite Christmas Movie

One of our favorite Christmas traditions is to enjoy a few special Christmas movies together every year. Choose a classic to watch year after year, or find a new favorite to enjoy. You can even try some printable Christmas movie trivia questions to go along with your movies! If you need a movie idea, check out these G-rated Christmas movies . Somehow, it doesn’t feel like Christmas until we’ve watched the Charlie Brown Christmas special at least once!

19. Do a Service Project

How can your family serve others this season? With a little creativity, you can find ways to get your kids involved in a service project, too. Can you pack shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child ? Serve the homeless in your community? Earn some money to purchase gifts for kids in need? This is the perfect time of year to teach your child about giving through some intentional Christmas kindness activities .

After the season, your child can journal about what they learned using Christmas gift giving notebook pages .

20. Find More Ideas

1. Personalized Christmas Cards

Promote a burst of creativity in your classroom with a Christmas card-making activity.

Cards are a staple element of the Christmas period, and making them can be an excellent activity that is simple to prepare.

Equip students with simple materials like card stock, colorful markers, and shimmering glitter, and watch their imagination take flight.

Show some examples of Christmas cards and let your student’s creativity flow.

Christmas offers a plethora of beautiful things that can be put onto a card, from a snowman to a stocking to Santa with his reindeer!

As they craft their unique holiday cards, students not only polish their artistic talents but also develop their writing skills.

Encouraging them to write thoughtful, personal messages to friends or family members inside their cards adds a special touch and makes this activity a delightful blend of art and language learning.

This fun and creative exercise is sure to bring smiles and a festive atmosphere to your classroom.

2. Handmade Christmas Ornaments

Another creative activity that lets you dive into the festive spirit is having students create their Christmas ornaments.

Much like Christmas cards, ornaments can come in a wide variety of splendid styles, shapes, and colors.

Provide a variety of materials such as colorful paper, soft felt, and easy-to-shape foam, and let their creativity run wild.

This hands-on activity is a joyful way to decorate the classroom and an excellent opportunity for students to hone their fine motor skills.

As they cut, glue, and decorate, they get to express their unique artistic styles.

This ornament-making session is more than just a craft; it’s a celebration of individuality and the joy of the holiday season.

Students can take their ornaments home and give them to their loved ones as a Christmas present, which will surely put a smile on more than one face!

3. Festive Storytime

Why not spark your students’ imaginations with a Christmas-themed story-writing activity?

You can begin by reading some famous festive stories or playing an engaging video and then encourage students to craft tales of their own

This can be done in the form of a short story, poem, or even a play.

This exercise sharpens their writing skills and opens the door to a world of creative, festive storytelling.

As they weave their narratives, students explore various aspects of the holiday season, including the magic of Santa Claus, the incredible story of Jesus Christ, and the joy of giving, making it a perfect blend of learning and seasonal fun.

This activity is a fantastic way to nurture young writers and celebrate the spirit of Christmas in a uniquely creative way.

If you’re feeling particularly Christmassy, why not try dressing up as Santa or asking a colleague if they’ll do it for you when they’re in a good mood?

Santa can surprise the students and read them an exciting Christmas story.

Kids love it!

4. Christmas Carols Sing-Along

Harness a festive mood and a wonderful sense of community in your classroom with a Christmas carols sing-along.

Gather the students and share the joy of singing classic holiday tunes together.

This is a fun activity and a wonderful way to develop musical skills among students.

Introduce simple musical instruments or incorporate fun actions and movements to make it even more engaging.

This interactive experience not only brings the classroom together but also celebrates the traditional sounds of the holiday season, creating a warm and merry learning environment.

There are lots of great Christmas carols on YouTube, with We Wish You a Merry Christmas being a classing.

Check out the video below for a video with dance and lyrics of this famous carol:

5. Gingerbread House Decorating

This one allows you to turn your classroom into a festive workshop with a gingerbread house decorating session.

This hands-on activity is a favorite for all ages.

It will, however, take more preparation than some of the other suggestions, so be mindful of this.

This one will have you provide students with graham crackers , colorful icing, and an assortment of candies and watch their architectural creativity come to life.

As they design and build their gingerbread houses, students engage in a fun activity and develop valuable design and planning skills.

Plus, it’s a delicious way to enjoy the results of their hard work.

This activity combines creativity, learning, and a sweet treat, making it a delightful and educational experience for the holiday season.

If it isn’t practical to decorate actual gingerbread houses in your classroom, you can make cardboard versions instead!

This can be an excellent alternative that is lots of fun and gives the students something creative and Christmassy to take home.

6. Secret Santa

Cultivate a sense of community and kindness in your classroom with a Secret Santa activity.

This cherished holiday tradition is not just about exchanging presents; it’s also a meaningful way to teach students about thoughtfulness, generosity, and the true joy of giving.

This can be done by putting everyone’s name into a box or a hat (a Santa hat would be perfect for this!) and letting the students pick out a name one by one.

It’s important that the students keep the name of the student a secret, with only you and them knowing who they have to get a gift for.

As each student secretly picks a classmate to surprise with a gift, they learn the value of considering others’ preferences and the happiness that comes from making someone else smile.

This activity builds a warm, inclusive atmosphere and highlights the spirit of the season: giving and sharing joy with others.

There are some excellent stocking fillers available on sites like Amazon.

We find these wind-up toys to be a great, affordable option to offer students.

7. Christmas Around the World Exploration

Embark on a journey in your classroom by exploring Christmas traditions from around the globe.

This educational activity is enlightening and can broaden students’ horizons, offering them a glimpse into how different cultures celebrate the festive season.

By learning about diverse customs, foods, and songs, students gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of the world’s rich tapestry of traditions.

This global exploration is a fantastic way to cultivate cultural awareness and inclusivity, making the holiday season a learning experience that extends far beyond the classroom walls.

You can give your students the task of creating a presentation for a country you give them, which will promote teamwork and help build their confidence.

From the classic traditions in Western countries to the folks in Japan who like to eat a bucket of KFC on Christmas day.

There are so many different ways that this holiday is celebrated, so this activity can be lots of fun and very educational.

2. Giving Tree

Set up a tree in your classroom decorated with ornaments representing different ways to give back to the community. Students can take turns selecting an ornament each day with an act of kindness for the whole class to complete.

How to Make a Christmas Giving Tree

  • First, you’ll need to make the tree. Cut several large triangles out of the green cardboard. You might like to graduate them in size to make your tree look more realistic. You’ll also need a small brown rectangle for the trunk. Glue the trunk to the wall and work upwards to add the green triangles with the smallest on the top.
  • Make ornaments to decorate your tree. Draw or cut out images of baubles, stars, and candy canes. If you’d like to involve students in this part, ask them each to make a decoration.
  • On the back of each decoration, write an act of kindness for the community and adhere the top of it to tree so it's easily removed. Here are some ideas for your decorations: • Donate a toy to charity. • Bring in non-perishable food to make a hamper. • Make Christmas cookies for fire fighters. • Include someone new in your game. • Say hello to parents and visitors. • Make Christmas cards for a nursing home. • Make bon-bons to add to hampers. • Donate pre-loved clothing.
  • Encourage students to share their experiences after they have completed each act of kindness.

3. Kindness Paper Chain

This activity serves two purposes. It provides a fun way to select acts of kindness that can be completed at school, and it makes a lovely Christmas decoration for your classroom.

How to Make a Kindness Paper Chain

  • Select 3 or 4 shades of festive colored paper or use Christmas wrapping paper.
  • Cut long strips about 1.5 inches (38mm) wide. Decide when you'll start your Christmas activity and count the days to the end of school to work out how many strips you'll need.
  • Write an act of kindness for students to complete on each of the strips Here are some ideas to start you off: • Let someone go ahead of you today. • Write thank you notes for a teacher, the principal, or the janitor. • Make Christmas cookies for a neighbor or grandparent. • Set up a gift wrapping table. • Give 5 people compliments today. • Donate old towels to an animal shelter. • Visit a nursing home and sing Christmas carols to the residents. • Collect pre-loved picture books for a children's hospital.
  • Make a paper chain with all of your strips. Make sure the acts of kindness are on the inside, so they're not easily seen.
  • Allow students to break off a loop from the chain and read the good deed for that day.
  • Have a quick 5-minute roundup at the end of the day to talk about the day's act of kindness.

4. Christmas Kindness Pegs Activity

This creative and interactive activity involves students decorating clothes pegs with festive designs on the front and writing acts of kindness on the back. The pegs are then attached to someone's clothes, books, backpack, etc. to create a pay it forward effect as acts of kindness are completed and the pegs are repegged elsewhere.

Christmas Kindness Pegs Activity For Elementary Students.

How to Make Christmas Kindness Pegs

  • Begin by explaining the concept of the Kindness Pegs activity. Emphasize the importance of spreading joy and kindness during the holiday season and how this activity will create a chain reaction of positive actions.
  • Distribute the materials to students. You will need: • wooden clothes pegs • markers, colored pencils, stickers, glitter, etc. • a bag or container for pegs
  • Give students time to decorate the front of their pegs with small festive Christmas designs. Encourage them to be imaginative and use a variety of colors and decorations.
  • On the back of each peg, they will write an act of kindness. This could include simple gestures like giving a compliment, helping a friend, or sharing something special. Remind them that these acts should be achievable and considerate.
  • Collect all the decorated and labeled pegs in a central location. You can use small bags or containers to keep the pegs organized.
  • Shuffle the pegs to ensure anonymity. Allow students to randomly select a peg from the collection. They should keep the act of kindness written on the back a secret.
  • Instruct students to discreetly attach the chosen peg to someone's jacket, backpack, or any personal item with the design showing, not the writing. The act of kindness on the back of the peg is now a mission for the person who finds it.
  • Explain to students that after they have completed the good deed on a peg they find, they are to repeg it somewhere else for another person.
  • After a designated period, gather the students to reflect on the activity. Discuss the kindness they've experienced or witnessed, reinforcing the positive impact of these small good deeds and how the pegs create a ripple effect of kindness.
  • Consider incorporating a follow-up activity where students can share their experiences or discuss the acts of kindness that transpired. This can be done through class discussions, written reflections, or a shared bulletin board.
  • On the last day of school, divide the pegs up and allow students to take some home to continue the kindness with their families.

Christmas Kindness Pegs Activity For Elementary Students.

The Christmas Kindness Pegs activity not only fosters a sense of community and goodwill but also creates a fun and festive atmosphere within the classroom. It's a fun way for students to actively participate in spreading holiday cheer and making a positive difference in each other's lives.

5. Hand-Made Christmas Gifts

Hand-made gifts are a lovely act of kindness because they show that students care enough to put effort into making something special. There are so many things your students could make as gifts this Christmas, but I like snow globes as a treasured gift people will love for years. And they're easy!

How to Make an Easy Christmas Snow Globe

Here’s a quick tutorial on how to make them from Welcome to Nana’s . Read the post for more detailed instructions.

Students can bring old decorations from home or personalize their snow globe with a laminated drawing. Be sure to include a wide edge around the picture so the water doesn’t wet the paper. TIPS: Avoid using anything made from metal inside the globe as it will likely rust. You can also use a single drop of glycerine instead of glue to ensure the glitter falls slowly.

Christmas Kindness Bookmarks For Students To Color And Give To Classmates.

6. Christmas Compliment Bookmarks

This activity is a Christmas adaptation of my best-selling kindness bookmarks activity. It's a simple but effective way to bring joy to many students throughout your school. When students participate in the kindness bookmarks activity, it creates a huge buzz of excitement, and they beg to participate over and over!

This bookmarks activity helps students learn why it's important to show kindness and give compliments. Being able to recognize and acknowledge good traits is an important social emotional skill for personal development.

How to Make a Christmas Compliment Bookmark

  • Discuss the importance of giving compliments. Explain that a compliment is an honest, heartfelt, and uplifting message for someone about a positive character trait or behavior. Compliments should not focus on possessions or appearance.
  • Cut 10-15 sheets of card into 3 strips or enough so each student can make at least one bookmark.
  • Have students draw Santas, Christmas Trees, baubles, and other Christmas scenes on their bookmarks. They’ll need to leave a space to write a compliment such as: • You are a kind person. • Thank you for caring. • We love having you at our school. • You are amazing. • Keep smiling. It looks good on you. • You make a difference. • You make our school a great place to be.
  • Ask students to turn their bookmarks over after they’ve colored it and write a positive note to a stranger.
  • When the bookmarks are completed, tell your class they’re going on a secret covert operation. Then sneak off to the library for them to hide their bookmarks for unsuspecting lenders to discover.

7. Family Compliments Jars

My family and I made a compliments and kindness jar when my children were little. We all wrote compliments for one another throughout the year and read them out on Christmas Day. It was such a wonderful, uplifting activity to do as a family.

We have also made jars for specific family members for birthdays and Mother's or Father's Day.

You can adapt this kindness activity for your students by having them write compliments for members of their family.

How to Make a Family Compliments Jar

  • Each student will need a jar or container to put their compliments in and 10-16 pieces of plain or colored paper to write their compliments on.
  • Talk about what a compliment is before you start. Explain that giving a compliment focuses on the positive qualities their family members have or the good things they do, not how they look or what they wear.
  • Ask students to write 2-3 descriptive compliments for each member of their family to pop into their jar. Examples of compliments may be: • Thank you for being a great sister, Jemma. You are my best friend.  • I love your lasagna, Mom. It's the best I've ever had.  • I love it when we go for ice-cream, Dad. It makes me feel special. • Thank you for walking me home from school, Alex. I love that you are there each day. • You make me feel important when you tell me I'm good at things, Mason. Thank you.
  • Students can decorate the jar or tie a ribbon around it. This will become a beautiful and heartfelt gift for their entire family on Christmas Day.

8. Christmas Coloring Pages with Kindness Messages

Sometimes you just need a quick and easy activity that doesn't take any thought. That's where coloring pages can be fabulous. Though they may seem like a filler activity, coloring actually has a lot of developmental and emotional benefits.

Why Coloring is a Great Activity for Elementary Students

  • Coloring develops fine motor skills as it involves grasping and manipulating crayons, pencils, or markers to strengthen the small muscles in the hands and fingers. This enhanced dexterity contributes to better handwriting, hand-eye coordination, and overall fine motor control.
  • The repetitive nature of coloring within the lines requires children to concentrate and focus. Being able to maintain attention is crucial for academic success and everyday activities.
  • The controlled movements needed for coloring assist children with letter formation and improves handwriting.
  • Coloring is a mindfulness activity that's fabulous for calming students to manage stress and anxiety.
  • Coloring is a safe and non-verbal way for children to express their emotions, thoughts, and feelings. They can use colors, patterns, and imagery to communicate their inner world.
  • Coloring often requires patience and perseverance as children work through intricate details or challenging areas. The satisfaction of completing a coloring page instills a sense of accomplishment and encourages them to tackle more difficult tasks.

These easy Christmas kindness activities are a fun way to build positive character traits. Students give compliments, complete kindness coloring pages, and participate in festive writing activities to get them thinking about kindness and generosity during Christmas.

Students write meaningful compliments for 3 of their classmates. Everyone receives nice notes to paste onto a compliments sheet as a Christmas gift from their grade.

Positive affirmations on coloring sheets instill good values that encourage kids to think beyond themselves and acknowledge those they love as well as people with less.

How to make a Snow Globe Terrarium

How to make a Snow Globe Terrarium

A Snow Globe Terrarium is a delightful holiday decoration that brings the magic of winter indoors.

It's a miniature winter wonderland inside a glass jar, complete with a charming scene and falling snow. Creating one is a fun and creative holiday craft project that can be enjoyed by all ages.

In this guide, we'll take you through the step-by-step process of making your very own Snow Globe Terrarium.

  • A glass jar with a lid (Mason jars or any clear glass container with a tight-fitting lid work well).
  • Miniature figurines (such as trees, animals, or holiday-themed characters).
  • Fake snow or artificial snowflakes.
  • Small pebbles or stones.
  • Craft glue (waterproof).
  • Glycerin (optional, for slowing down the snowfall).
  • Clear epoxy resin (optional, for sealing the lid).
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks.
  • Tweezers (for placing small figurines).
  • Scissors (for trimming excess materials).

Instructions

Step 1: prepare your glass jar.

  • Ensure that your glass jar is clean and dry.
  • If you want, you can decorate the outside of the jar with paint or festive ribbons for added flair.

Step 2: Arrange Your Figurines

  • Using the hot glue gun, attach your miniature figurines to the inside of the jar lid.
  • Be creative with your arrangement; you can create a snowy forest scene, a cozy cabin, or a winter wonderland with holiday characters.

Step 3: Add Pebbles

  • Place a layer of small pebbles or stones at the bottom of the jar.
  • This will provide stability for your figurines and create a natural-looking landscape.

Step 4: Create Snow

  • Sprinkle a generous amount of fake snow or artificial snowflakes over the pebbles.
  • You can adjust the thickness of the snow based on your preference.

Step 5: Add Glycerin (Optional)

  • If you want the snowfall effect to be slower, mix a few drops of glycerin with water and add it to the snow.
  • Glycerin makes the water denser and slows down the descent of the snowflakes.

Step 6: Assemble the Snow Globe

  • Carefully turn the lid with the attached figurines upside down and place it onto the jar.
  • Ensure that the figurines are positioned where you want them inside the jar.
  • Screw the lid onto the jar tightly, creating a seal.

Step 7: Seal the Lid (Optional)

  • To prevent any accidental leaks or to make your snow globe more permanent, you can seal the lid with clear epoxy resin.
  • Follow the instructions on the epoxy resin packaging carefully and allow it to dry completely.

Step 8: Shake and Enjoy

  • Give your snow globe terrarium a gentle shake, and watch as the snowflakes fall and create a winter scene.
  • Place it on a table, shelf, or windowsill to enjoy the festive ambiance it brings to your home.

Creating a Snow Globe Terrarium is a wonderful way to embrace the holiday spirit and add a touch of winter magic to your decor.

Customize it with your favorite figurines and create a unique scene that captures the enchantment of the season.

Happy crafting!
